She describes the painful feeling of being told again and again that there was nothing out there for her. “I struggled against so many different forces, both the lack of belief from my family and the lack of opportunity in the industry. There was so much pressure from every side that it almost created this sort of rocket,” she explains, steepling her hands together. “Ultimately, I think that was what pushed me to succeed.”
“Acting felt like a real job for me, even when I had nothing going on,” she reminisces. “Regardless of how many rejections I got, I had this fuel to keep going, look in different directions and push forward step by step. Somewhere inside, I knew that there was something more than what was being offered to me.”

#RHOA: Kenya Moore Pens Children's Book with Daughter Brooklyn, 6, Brooklyn Bound: Paris!
Kenya Moore can add "best-selling children's book author" to her long list of accomplishments.
On Sunday, Nov. 3, the actress, producer, director, singer and reality star released Brooklyn Bound: Paris — her first-ever children's book. And the fans responded, buying out the title's entire first printing on Amazon within two hours.
It's an exciting milestone, but especially special for Moore, who wrote the book with her 6-year-old daughter, Brooklyn Daly, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Daly.
"I'm so proud of Brooklyn," Moore, 53, says. "Part of being a mother is you always want to give your child opportunities that you never had. And for her to have this accomplishment as part of her legacy already, it's just a reminder that there are so many things in the future coming her way that are beyond what we can even imagine."
The book, which Moore imagines will be the first in a series, follows 4-year-old Brooklyn as she takes readers through her favorite spots in Paris during a trip to the City of Lights for her birthday. That's something Moore has been doing with Brooklyn regularly since her daughter's first birthday celebrations.
"I've always wanted Brooklyn to be exposed to different parts of the globe because I want her to be a global citizen," Moore says. "I don't want her to be close-minded. I want her to know the world is bigger than her backyard; bigger than our life in Atlanta."
"There are so many things we can see and learn and appreciate and grow from when we experience other cultures," Moore continues. "That's part of the reason why I have her in an international school, too. And why every night, I cook her cuisine from a different place in the world. I never grew up like that, but I want to do better for my daughter."
Brooklyn, Moore says, has "really embraced" the adventures, and Moore can already see the impact it has had on shaping her personality. "She's a very curious, very respectful little girl," Moore says. "She's not afraid to try new things, and you can see when she learns something, she really internalizes and appreciates other people's differences."
"The other day, she came home from school having celebrated Diwali there," Moore explains. "She was in the traditional garb, and was telling me about the bindi on her forehead. And I just felt so happy of her because she's being exposed to so many different cultures and she's really absorbing it all."
Moore witnessed that firsthand during a trip the mother-daughter duo took last month to Kenya. "In Africa, we visited the Maasai tribe," she recalls. "And we went to their village, went into their homes, and Brooklyn got to see what their lives are like. Where they sleep, where they eat; what they have and don't have... even how they prepare food. They taught us how to make fire, how their kitchen is set up. And it was all so fascinating to her."
Kenya will likely be the next location in the Brooklyn Bound series, Moore tells PEOPLE. "It's fresh in our minds, so I want to get started on that next," she says. "But I think we'll do Dubai after that. There's so much to explore, the possibilities really are endless."
The idea for the book actually came to Moore from Brooklyn herself.
"She's just starting to read real words now on her own, but Brooklyn has always loved books," Moore gushes. "I read to her every night and one day, she brought me this paper book she wrote with the help of one of our caregivers. It was about her and Bluey going on this adventure together, and she had drawn these pictures and stabled construction paper together so it pages like a real book. And I was so impressed because some of it actually rhymed. So I thought, 'Maybe we should write a book together?' "
Centering it around their adventures abroad was a no-brainer. Moore did all the illustrations herself but insists the writing process was collaborative. "We sat down at first and Brooklyn told me all the things she loved about Paris. And then when I was writing, I'd say, 'What rhymes with this paste?' And she's said, 'Waste! Taste! Haste!' So that's how we did it."
Narrated from Brooklyns' point of view, Brooklyn Bound: Paris sees the little girl visit everything from the iconic Eiffel Tower and the grand Arc de Triomphe to the Tuileries Garden and the Louvre. There are activities along the way, including a French cooking class. And even surprises, like a magical experience at Disneyland Paris.
"It's really born out of Brooklyn's experiences," Moore says. "And is not just about capturing the spirit of travel, but also about showing off that close bond that develops between mothers and daughters during getaways like this."
Moore hopes the series goes beyond print, perhaps into an animated show. "I haven't really seen an animated series following a Black girl around her age with a single mom," Moore notes. "So this gives me hope that maybe there's an opportunity there, especially with the travel element."
But until then, Moore is just hopeful other kids are inspired by the book.
"Reading opens your world up to everything," Moore says. "There's a world of adventure out there in the pages of books. And I hope that other kids, who may not be able to go to Paris or Kenya or wherever we end up, can really feel like they're there with Brooklyn, can learn from her, and can aspire to go there one day."
"Brooklyn has always been this beacon of hope in my life, ever since I had her, " Moore adds. "And I just know she'll be that to others after they read this, too."

#HipHopNews: No, Young Thug Did Not Violate His Probation By Hanging Out With T.I.
Young Thug did not violate his probation by hanging out with T.I. upon his release from jail, contrary to claims made online.
After Thugger was spotted with the Grand Hustle founder earlier this week, speculation began running rampant that the rapper had violated his probation after less than a week due to Tip being a convicted felon.
As legal reporter Meghann Cuniff pointed out on X (formerly Twitter), though, the terms of Young Thug’s release do not prevent him from associating with felons, just “members or associates of a street gang.”
Thug’s probation conditions do, however, refer to avoiding “persons or places of disreputable or harmful character,” which Cuniff speculates is vague enough to be used against him.
One of Young Thug’s first public moves since being released from jail was to hook up with T.I., seemingly to bring the self-proclaimed King of the South out of retirement.
“Yeahhhhh YKWTFGO. The Kings have Reconvened #KingJeffrey #KingSr Guess I’m officially outta retirement [shrug emoji] For tonight [crying face emoji] #welcomehome,” Tip captioned an Instagram video of him and Thug in the studio, teasing a collaboration between the two.
The YSL rapper has received a warm welcome home from the Hip Hop community since taking a plea deal in his YSL RICO case, which kept him behind bars since May 2022.
Thug was sentenced to time served and 15 years of probation after pleading guilty to gang, drug and gun charges.
Before receiving his sentence, he stood up and gave a brief speech in court, telling the judge that he’s a “smart” and “good guy” who has “learned from [his] mistakes.”
Thug also asked the judge to “trust in me to do the right thing and never see you again, unless it’s at a bar in the future or something” and apologized to everybody involved in the long-running case.
Thug’s lengthy probation includes various strict conditions, including a ban on entering the Metro Atlanta area (unless for family or medical reasons), giving anti-gang and anti-violence talks in schools and performing 100 hours of community service each year.
He is also prohibited from promoting gangs in his music or on social media and contacting any of his former co-defendants with the exception of his brother Quintavious “Unfoonk” Grier and Gunna, with whom he has a contractual relationship through his YSL label.

In response, Nelly stated:“That’s funny that you say that. There were talks not too long ago about that very thing. I’m not gonna say too much more but hopefully everything continues the course. I love Vegas, she loves Vegas. We both love Vegas for very different reasons.”
Nelly and Ashanti quietly tied the knot back in December of last year after rekindling their romance. Prior to reconnecting and jumping the broom, they dated for 11 years but split in 2013.
In July, the entertainers welcomed their first child together and are now seemingly ready to get back to work.

Plies Accuses Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy of Stealing Beat in New Lawsuit
Plies is accusing Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Cardi B, and Soulja Boy of copyright infringement in a new lawsuit.
According to court documents filed on Wednesday and reviewed by TMZ, the 48-year-old rapper alleges that his 2008 track “Me & My Goons” introduced what he calls an “infrared countdown beat” that was subsequently used by Soulja for his 2010 hit “Pretty Boy Swag.”
Plies accused Megan and Glo of using the same beat on “Wanna Be” and a remix of the track featuring Cardi. According to Billboard, the original version of the track, first released in April, debuted at No. 11 on the Hot 100.
The remix with Cardi, which features a scathing verse aimed at rival BIA, helped the track rebound from No. 39 to No. 15 on the same chart in June.
Hot Girl Productions, Collipark Productions, Universal Music Group, Collective Music Group, and Interscope Records are all named as defendants in the complaint.

"Saturday Night Live" star Bowen Yang has apologized to his co-star Ariana Grande for kissing her too passionately during a sketch they performed when she hosted "Saturday Night Live" in October. During an episode of his "Las Culturistas" podcast, Yang confessed, "I really have to apologize to you in person. I opened up my mouth too much when we kissed on 'SNL'."
Grande replied, "You absolutely did. I was shaking after. Not in a bad way. Just in a disarming way."
The kiss occurred during a sketch titled "Charades with Mom", in which Grande played a competitive mother who clashed with Yang's character, her son's boyfriend. The kiss was not initially scripted, according to both stars. Grande revealed that she had the idea during rehearsal, but hesitated to suggest it because she feared being seen as "insane."
However, Yang had the same thought, and they later agreed on the kiss during dress rehearsal. Grande joked that Yang had "opened his mouth entirely too open," but ultimately defended the moment as appropriate for the characters.
Yang and Grande praised each other for their improvisation skills and the electric atmosphere during the sketch. "It felt like what these people needed at that time," Grande said. "It felt like what these characters required." Yang added, "I kissed you too much, but I'm glad we did it."
The apology and insights into the kiss provide a glimpse into the creative process and onstage spontaneity that make "Saturday Night Live" a beloved comedy institution.

Delaware state Sen. Sarah McBride has been elected to the U.S. House and will become the first openly transgender person to serve in Congress.
McBride easily defeated Republican John Whalen III on Tuesday in the race for Delaware’s lone House seat. Whalen is a retired construction company owner and former state trooper who ran a shoestring campaign in his first bid for public office.
McBride, meanwhile, has established a national profile as an LGBTQ activist and raised more than $3 million in campaign contributions from around the country. She achieved national recognition at the 2016 Democratic National Convention as the first openly transgender person to address a major party convention in the United States.
“Tonight is a testament to Delawareans that we have shown time and time again that in this state of neighbors, we judge candidates based on their ideas and not their identities,” McBride said.
“I didn’t run to make history. I ran to make a difference for my state and this country,” she added. “I think this is a powerful message that Delawareans are fair-minded and that our democracy is big enough for all of us.”
As a state senator, McBride has earned a reputation for working on health care issues, including successfully sponsoring legislation to create a statewide paid family and medical leave insurance program. McBride also sponsored legislation to address Medicaid reimbursement rates for home health care services and expand access to dental care for low-income Delawareans. Another bill she sponsored imposed a 3.58% tax on net revenue of Delaware’s hospitals as a way to leverage additional federal Medicaid funds. All those measures were enacted into law.
Democrats have held Delaware’s U.S. House seat since 2010. The seat was left open last year after Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester opted to run for the U.S. Senate spot being vacated by fellow Democrat Tom Carper.

Russell Simmons’ Accuser Disputes His Retirement Status in Indonesia
*Russell Simmons faces renewed legal scrutiny from a former Def Jam employee who claims he raped her in his New York apartment in the mid-1990s.
Rolling Stone reports in the new legal documents, the woman, known as Jane Doe, is urging a judge to dismiss Simmons’ argument that he is beyond New York’s jurisdiction after he was granted a retirement visa by Indonesian authorities. Russell reportedly cited his “stateless” status to avoid a deposition in the U.S.
We reported earlier that the 66-year-old Def Jam Recordings co-founder faces accusations of avoiding answering questions under oath as part of a sexual harassment lawsuit. Doe sued Simmons in February under New York’s Adult Survivors Act. According to The Blast, she accuses Simmons of raping her at his apartment during her stint as a staff member at Def Jam. Jane Doe wants Simmons to attend a deposition via Zoom and answer questions under oath about the lawsuit.
Simmons has not answered any questions that could help move the case forward. The accuser believes a deposition would “obviate the need for his answering the interrogatories.”
“This lawsuit chronicles the account of how a woman who, while pursuing her career passion as a music executive, was sexually harassed, assaulted, sexually battered, and raped by her boss, Russell Simmons,” Jane Doe explained in the lawsuit.
“Defendant is running from the court’s jurisdiction to avoid taking accountability for his actions,” the plaintiff stated in a new filing.
According to Doe, Simmons continues to cover the costs of a Manhattan apartment for his children and keeps an office in New York. She argues that his ongoing business affairs in the U.S. contradict his alleged retirement status, which is required for his Indonesian visa.
“Any purported retirement visa requires recertification every few years that one is, in fact, retired. Building an empire and being retired are mutually exclusive,” Doe wrote in her Nov. 1 filing, per Complex.
Doe’s new filing also points to remarks Simmons made in a 2024 interview with AllHipHop, where he described America as his “home.”
“People saying that I somehow can’t come home when I’m there all the time wears on you,” Simmons told AllHipHop at the time. “It wears on me after a while to keep hearing the same narrative, which is false. I’m always in L.A., I’m always in New York and Miami. And I’ve never had any reason to feel unsafe in America.”

California Court Upholds Conviction of Nipsey Hussle’s Killer
Eric Holder won’t be able to sidestep his conviction for the murder of Nipsey Hussle. According to AllHipHop, the conviction was upheld by a three-judge panel.
The appeals court notes: “Nothing in the trial court’s rulings prevented appellant from arguing objective and subjective provocation to the jury or from clearly articulating the defense theory that ‘appellant acted in the heat of passion as a result of being publicly called a snitch’ by ‘the famous, the great Nipsey Hussle,’ The trial court did not abuse its discretion in prohibiting defense counsel from telling the jury what appellant was thinking and feeling at the time of the shooting to explain appellant’s conduct.”
Holder was previously sentenced to 60 years in prison after being found guilty of first-degree murder, attempted voluntary manslaughter, assault with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Equatorial Guinea Official Suspended After 400 Explicit Videos Surface; Government Orders Surveillance in Offices
Equatorial Guinea officials are taking drastic steps to restore public trust after a high-ranking government official was caught in a scandal involving hundreds of explicit videos filmed in his office. Over the weekend, Vice President Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue announced that Baltasar Ebang Engonga, head of the country’s National Financial Investigation Agency, had been suspended and placed under investigation for recording sexual encounters with multiple women in his office. Some of the women allegedly include wives and relatives of other government officials, adding to the scandal’s shockwave.
According to ABC News, investigators searching Engonga’s belongings uncovered up to 400 videos showing explicit acts, sparking widespread outrage within the government. Shortly after Engonga’s arrest on corruption charges, several videos leaked online, causing a surge in national internet traffic. To curb the spread, telecommunications companies have reportedly slowed internet speeds across the country.
Engonga faces further investigation on allegations that he may have knowingly endangered public health by spreading disease. Equatorial Guinea’s chief prosecutor, Anatolio Nzang Nguema, stated that if Engonga is found to have a sexually transmitted disease, additional charges for endangering public health could follow. Officials are also investigating whether the encounters were consensual, as no complaints have yet been filed by the women involved.
In response to the scandal, Vice President Mangue announced that all government offices would soon have surveillance cameras to prevent similar incidents in the future. “Any official caught engaging in sexual acts in their office will be suspended,” Mangue stated firmly.
Engonga, who reportedly expressed regret on Facebook by sharing a photo of himself with family members captioned, “Family is everything,” remains under investigation as the country’s officials push for accountability and transparency.

Liam Payne's 'Friend' And Two Hotel Staff Emerge As Persons Of Interest In Singer's Death
Further investigation into Liam Payne's death has led Argentinian police to conduct a fresh round of raids on the homes of a friend of the singer and two hotel employees.
The individuals are being treated as key persons of interest in the case, particularly concerning how Payne may have obtained the drugs he ingested during his stay in Argentina.
An autopsy report previously revealed that the drugs Liam Payne consumed contributed to a breakdown that likely played a role in the erratic behavior he exhibited before his fatal fall.
Following Payne's shocking death in October, Argentinian police launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding his passing.
The investigation recently led to a new raid on the home of two employees who worked at the hotel where the singer plunged to his death.
According to TMZ, Payne had stayed at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires and was reportedly contacted by these workers before the fatal incident.
In addition to raiding the homes of hotel employees, authorities also searched the home of one of Payne's friends. This individual is seen as one of those who may have sold Payne drugs, as his name was repeatedly spotted in suspicious text messages on the singer's phone.
It is still unclear what authorities discovered during the raids, as no details have been made public yet. However, it is known that Payne's friend was unavailable when the raid was conducted.
As part of the recent raids, the authorities also visited the hotel where Payne died to search the lockers of the employees. During the visit, they reviewed security footage to search for more evidence that could help the case.
In a different raid that occurred at the hotel last month, the authorities obtained "elements of interest for the investigation," per LA NACION.
It was mentioned that "documents and videos" from the lobby and courtyard were part of what was obtained at the time. Other items like the hotel's computers, phones, and other devices were also taken away to be analyzed.
Although the investigation into Payne's death looks far from over, a previous autopsy report ruled that there was no foul play involved.
