Viola Davis On VARIETY!

The day after her historic win at the 67th EMMYs, Viola Davis headed to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles for an early morning photoshoot to celebrate her victory.

Viola, who is working on an HBO biopic about Harriet Tubman, opened up to VARIETY about what the win means to her.  We've got a few tidbits from her interview.   When asked how she felt about the win, she said: “It’s a mixture of disbelief and joy and acceptance. It’s just beautiful.”

On her EMMY being like the Willy Wonka ticket:  “What it meant for me to win the Emmy is I found it,” she says, choking up. “It’s not just the award. It’s what it’s going to mean to young girls — young brown girls, especially. When they saw a physical manifestation of a dream, I felt like I had fulfilled a purpose.”

On her long journey: “You guys have to realize, I’ve been in this business 35 years, and 27 years professionally. I’m the journeyman actor that you saw in one scene here, two scenes there. I’ve been eking out a living doing theater — Broadway, Off Broadway — film supporting roles, that I’m just excited to be a part of the conversation.”

On what's she's learned about herself: “I’ve learned so much about myself and what it means to be an actor. By going to the unemployment line, by going to the theater, and doing your two lines. Somewhere in the midst of that, you begin to discover what kind of actor you are and what kind of person you are. And then when success comes, if it comes, you’ve earned it. You can handle it.”

Why she is grateful for success later in life: “I don’t know if I could have handled all this when I was 23,” she says. “For a fact, I could not have.” She lists the struggles she’s faced — the death of her father, rejection, failure, unemployment, making just $120 a week — and then, ultimately, finding joy in her work. “All of that has brought me to the point of being on the stage with that Emmy with all of that energy coming at me. Being able to handle it, that’s what life gives you.”

OMG! A Fan RUSHES Kerry Washington Outside Of “GMA” Studio!

The gorgeous Kerry Washington hit the NYC streets serving fab in a red Giambattista Valli frock, dazzling red Paul Andrew pumps, a Movado watch, and jewels by Monique Pean & Eva Fehren for an early morning appearance. Oh..and she also rocked her custom wedding band made by Tiffany & Co. Nice!

The “Scandal” starlet made an appearance on “Good Morning America” to chop it up about the upcoming fifth season of her hit ABC series….that we can not WAIT to see.

Kerry exited the studio where she was met by adoring fans. Soon after, some fans began walking up towards her for a quick photo-op. Unfortunately, ish went a little left when a mob of people approached her and she had to turn them away:

Michael B. Jordan talks ‘hustling in Hollywood’ for the latest issue of GQ — along with a fun photo spread.

On attention from the ladies: “I understand what females want and need, you know. I’m good at that. I don’t know if I’m the guy to give it to them right now. I’m emotionally unavailable. Until I find something that’s so undeniable that I can’t help myself. The females, they’ll always be there. Like honestly, bro, oh my God. Female-wise now? I ain’t got to do too much work. And it’s weird, because I’m the same guy. I haven’t f*cking changed, right? I haven’t done anything different…Okay maybe a blockbuster film.”

On taking a more assertive role in his career: “I told my team after I finished Chronicle that I only want to go out for roles that were written for white characters. Me playing the role will make it what it is.”

On the backlash he faced after ‘dating’ Kendall Jenner: “It’s the world we live in. They see white and black. I don’t. Kendall’s a friend of mine, you know. I don’t know her, like, that well, but I know her enough. People’s perspective on that is what it is. I don’t f*cking know. I don’t live my life to make other people happy. It’s so weird, though, right? A lot of black fans were feeling like ‘Oh, my god, he should have been with a black woman’ and that whole thing.”

‘Empire’s’ Trai Byers Signs with Wilhelmina Models

Wilhelmina Models announced on Tuesday that it will now be representing Empire‘s Trai Byers.

The 32-year-old actor, who plays Lucious and Cookie Lyon’s eldest son Andre on the FOX series, recently landed the cover of Saks Fifth Avenue’s fall catalog and has appeared in several fashion magazines, including GQ and Vogue.

New Music: The Iconic Gladys Knight – ‘Just A Little’

The “Empress of Soul” Gladys Knight is back with “a little” positivity to get you going in the right direction. Her new single “Just A Little” is a fun, up-tempo boost of energy produced by Grammy Award winning producer Symbolyc “S1” One (Kanye West, Beyonce, Jay-Z) for something very modern.

Knight proves she still has the vocal pipes as she reminds us that love, especially self-love, is the key: “It don’t matter who you are / Love can carry you away / Just keep shining you’re a star / Golden like a Summer day,” she sings. A video for the tune is coming soon.

Knight says it was time for her to release something different. “We just wanted to have fun. Most of the singles I’ve released prior to ‘Just A Little’ were ballads.  I wanted something new.  Something that we could dance to,” she said in a press release.

Turns out the ratings for Basketball Wives puts VH1 in the no.1 spot on Sundays at 9pm in the coveted 18 - 34 demographic so the series will definitely be back for another run.

Jay Z is married to one of the most beautiful and talented entertainers in the world, Beyonce Knowles. Beyonce is known for her sexy dance moves, beautiful voice and great body.  In a recent interview with Hip Hop Since 1987, the Nation of Islam leader Minister Louis Farrakhan has a message  for Jay Z, “To my brother Jay-Z: As much as I love and admire you, I want to see my sister, Beyonce, beautifully covered… You’re responsible”

Not to take the message out of context Farrakhan is expressing more so on many issues surrounding us presently and the overall war on the Black community through propaganda in film and television images. Throughout the hour-long interview, we are able to gain an in-depth look into how the minister feels the Jewish media has been aiming to emasculate and feminize Black men and degrade Black women, and the influence they have on our everyday lives. He also touches on the legacies of both Malcolm X as well as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who he believes was much more than just a dreamer.

  

Lil Wayne Porn Tape Being Shopped

Someone’s shopping a sex tape around starring Lil Wayne and 2 chicks, but Wayne’s reps tell TMZ, if a porn company dares to market it, they will have hell to pay.

Reports TMZ: We’re told the big p0rn companies have been contacted by a person in possession of the tape, which shows Wayne in nothing but his socks, and 2 more-than-accommodating women who do all the work.

Wayne’s rep says if there is a tape, the rapper didn’t know he was being filmed. And the rep makes it clear they will pounce if a tape is released to the public, saying, “We’ll sue the hell out of them.”

Without Wayne’s sign-off, the big p0rn companies would never take the risk.

Oh? Stitches Says He Did Cocaine with Kylie Jenner 

Last month rapper Stitches claimed he and rapper InkMonstarr smashed Kylie Jenner behind Tyga's back 

That's not all they did… Stitches claims he and Kylie also did cocaine together.

Stitch tells In Touch

“I did cocaine with Kylie and then slept with her — while she was in a relationship with Tyga.” 

“I had sex with her. We did it all.” 

“[We did] some drugs. She called me ‘Daddy. She didn’t bring up Tyga, not one time. She did not seem remorseful, not one bit.”

As for the reason Stitches is telling Kylie's business? The usual reason: She dissed him after giving it up.

Stitches explains, 

“I thought it was a good idea to come at her ’cause, I’m not gonna lie — she ignored me after that day we had sex.”

Zendaya To Be Honored With Her Own Oscar Awards Barbie Doll 

One of our favorite starlets and leading role models is all set to be immortalized the Mattel way.

The official Barbie Twitter account recently made the grand announcement that they were crafting a Zendaya Barbie doll borrowed from her Oscar red carpet look that everyone loved except Giuliana Rancic.

The 19-year-old virtuoso of the arts wore a pearl Vivienne Westwood on music’s biggest night this past February and that is exactly what the Zendaya Barbie doll will be rocking as part of the “Fashionistas” line the iconic brand has been developing. According to the NYDailyNews, there will be twenty-three new dolls in efforts to celebrate diversity that include eight different skin tones, fourteen sculpts, eighteen eye colors and twenty-three hair colors.

“I’m excited to be a part of the new direction the Barbie brand is headed, specifically how they are celebrating diversity in the line and encouraging kids to raise their voices,” the superstar said in a statement. On September 26, she will be hosting the Barbie Rock ‘N Royals Concert Experience at the Hollywood Palladium, which benefits VH1’s Save the Music Foundation.

Despite the magnitude of the announcement, Zendaya’s wins didn’t stop there. She was recently named the new brand ambassador of CHI Haircare. The girl has the glow. You hear that, Giuliana?

Gayla St. Julien, the woman who implicated Apollo Nida, bringing his identity theft ring to its knees,says of course his wife Phaedra knew all about his criminal activity…

Gayla St. Julien, who was sentenced to five years in prison back in April for her role in Apollo's identity theft ring breaks her silence following Apollo's sentencing and says Phaedra is wrong for not standing with her husband because she knew perfectly well what she was getting into.

Gayla tells Madame Noir,

“Well, let me tell you like this. Spouses? When one party is legitimate to a degree, and the other isn’t, there’s NO secret about it. If you reap the benefit, or get things and money and all the things that come with a lifestyle such as what we had, then I think you should ride with him. But it’s not a secret. Everybody knows that she knew, just like my husband knew. There were benefits that had been reaped and so if you go into a marriage and you know what a person is involved in, and you say ‘Okay, I can deal with it,’ and you take the diamonds, you take the trips, you take the bikes, you take the whatevers–then you take the time too. That should be the way it is. She knew what she was getting into just like my husband knew what he was getting into. If you’re getting into a situation where you don’t know what a person is about, then okay if you feel like you need to walk away, then you walk away. It’s understandable. But if your cards were laid out on the table and you knew the risks involved, and yet you decided you wanted to roll with those risks, then you roll with those risks. Period. She knew. Period. End of story. We’ll just leave it at that.

20-year-old KeKe Palmer is all grown up now, and she’s covering the October issue of Heart & Soul magazine.

Palmer worked exceptionally hard in gym to prepare for her role as R&B singer Chili in the Vh1 TLC biopic, Crazy Sexy Cool.

The movie debuts on VH1 on Oct 21st.

His wife had to see it coming…his show is full of younger women closer to his age and they’re all trying to get his attention since he’s the boss.

He’s not the Prince Charming she thinks he is, but we doubt we’ll see a divorce. He definitely won’t be leaving his her because she’s the perfect trophy wife…she has her own money, own fame, but is slightly clumsy at times.

Stars Step Out for "Romeo & Juliet" Premiere

Eager to show off their latest film, the stars of “Romeo & Juliet” walked the red carpet at its Hollywood premiere on Tuesday Night

Handsome in suits and ties, Ed Westwick and Douglas Booth posed for pictures with their lovely co-star Hailee Steinfeld, who rocked a black and white frock with just a dash of blue in it.

Also on hand for the evening was Taylor Swift, who graced the arrivals area in a knee length cream colored dress with floral accents.

The romantic drama, based on the famous play of the same name, arrives in theaters nationwide on October 11.

Drake Confirms Beyoncé Collaboration and Featuring on Justin Timberlake’s The 20/20 Experience Part 2 Album

Drake sat down with Ryan Seacrest and spoke about the tracks on his new album Nothing Was The Same, which drops today and sings Bey’s praises and talks about how he will be on her upcoming album.

The interview was 30 minutes and he spoke on how Beyonce has made an impact in the industry: “I’m a Beyoncé believer,” said Drizzy, who paid homage to Bey on his track “Girls Love Beyoncé.” “I really believe strongly in her talent and her position in our generation. I think she’s one of the biggest stars ever, but especially for these girls right now. I feel like they need Beyoncé.”

He confirms that the two have been in the studio together “  “I reached out to her and asked if I could come and be a part of her project and she was kind enough to invite me out there. And we did some work together.”

The collaboration came together when he was in the same building as Jay Z, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and Justin Timberlake, who he considers one of his mentors.

“He is somebody that gives me the best advice in the world, that’s very open about his experiences and encourages me to act,” said Drake of the pop superstar.

It was Timberlake who encouraged Drake to rap 24 bars on “Cabaret,” which appears on The 20/20 Experience – 2 of 2. “That was Justin’s idea, not mine,” he said.

He also spoke about his mother’s reaction to his lyrics, his biggest fear, and his plans to return to acting once he’s done touring.  I bet Chris Brown is somewhere mad! He has been wanting to write a song for Beyoncé for a long time now. But now that he dry snitched on Jay Z in that JET Magazine,  there is no way it will happen now.

Ballin’ Jim Jones Dropping Dough For Vh1 Wedding

Jim Jones is sparing no cost when it comes to his boo Chrissy.

It’s been almost two years since he proposed to her in Miami and still no wedding. Since the proposal Chrissy has given the ring back and then accepted it again.

Are these two ever going to take that step? From what we hear, it’s on the way and it will be televised. VH1 has come to a deal with the couple for another season of “Chrissy & Mr. Jones.” According to sources, they need the ratings because Jimmy likes to do a lot of flossing.

“Jim purchased Chrissy’s ring at New York’s Avianne & Co. It was almost 10 carats and cost nearly $140,000!”

“Jimmy stays high…dude is a functioning addict who squanders a lot of money on jewelry. Just a few months after he bought Chrissy’s ring, Jimmy went back to Avianne & Co. and bought a Cuban Links chain that costs more than most make in a year.”

Too busy trying to uphold that rich life image is going to have Jimmy broke. We understand wanting to spoil your girl, but live within your means.

We already know the show will be full of extra drama just to get those ratings. Mama Jones better act a fool…she’s pretty entertaining.

La La Anthony Hosts Glade Red Carpet Awards

La La Anthony hosted a Red Carpet Awards Viewing Party for the Emmys in New York, to assist Glade in launching its new campaign. The event was held at The Thompson Hotel LES, and La La was joined by her bestie Po Johnson and her mom, Carmen Surillo.

La La worked the room in a pink dress with red detail, paired with red pumps. “I’m celebrating the best feelings of the night with my friends and @Glade,” she tweeted from the party. Catch more pics from the event inside.

Celebrity trainer, Hollywood Hino, who was also in attendance – posed it up alongside La La and Po.

And she wore a big smile while posing for pics with her mom. “Mom and I feeling #hopeful #bestfeelings #sponsor,”

Actress Eva Mendes Says "I will have a more serious career than J.Lo!"

The shade is real today, from Teyana and Rihanna to Solange throwing that subliminal shade at Miley. To now Eva Mendes who played in Hitch with Will Smith and Training Day with Denzel Washington had some very harsh words in regards to fellow Latina Jennifer Lopez. She was pissed that someone compared her to JLO and she clapped back by saying please don’t compare to her.

Then Eva went on to say, “I would like to think I will have a more serious career than J.Lo. We may both be of Latin origin but that’s where the comparisons stop. She manages her career like the head of a big corporation, whereas the only thing I care about is becoming the best actress possible.”  I don’t think Jennifer Lopez can act (outside of romantic comedies), but, I will say….You know you’re doing something right when people feel the need to comment on you. Eva could’ve skipped right over this (if she was directly asked about J. Lo) and kept it about herself, but instead, she chose to shade Jennifer. Which was really uncalled for… By the way Jennifer has built an empire outside of acting, so I suggest Eva truly take heed.

FENDI Joins Instagram and Launches New Store in Milan

Located on the famous Via Montenapoleone (Milan’s preeminent luxury shopping street), Fendi’s  latest flagship in the 16th-century Casa Carcassola-Grandi opened on September 19. Set over two floors, the 5,400 square foot space is decked out in leather, bronze and stone with a feature wall covered in 40,000 bronze spikes to show off the brand’s ‘Baguette’ bags, and metallic and black Japanese lacquered walls for the fur room. This was definitely a treat for Fendi lovers worldwide.

Fendi also joined the rest of the world by joining Instagram a few days prior. The brand shared pics pre and post launch as well as behind the scenes images of their model casting and a few sneak peeks of the new Fall 2013 collections.

I swear, Karl Lagerfeld must sleep in that damn glove.
