The Queen Janet Jackson for Allure Magazine
The music icon and superstar is taking the reigns of 2022 like no other and is rocking her age with style, grace, and ease.
Janet Jackson recently sat down with Allure magazine to discuss her life and the release of her documentary, Janet, where she serves as an executive producer for the highly anticipated adaptation of her life.
In addition to talking about her new documentary, the pop superstar discussed her 30 plus year career within the music industry as well as what it was like to define her own image and sense of self-worth.
“I was never a girly girl. I was always a tomboy. So it was always about pants, suits, even as an early teenager. I remember when my brothers got their star on the Walk of Fame and other awards they got, and I look back on pictures and I always had on a suit with a tie, a bow tie, or suspenders,“ Jackson says in an exclusive interview with Allure. “Always loving black and never wanting to expose any part of my body, I felt most comfortable to cover it up to here.”
Jackson further discussed the journey she endured to feel more confident and open in her own skin in an industry that tries so hard to sexualize and label Black women and Women of color.
“Women have gotten comfortable in their skin, in their size, in being full-figured and I love that, as opposed to back in the day,” she said. “You had to always be thin and always look a certain way. And now it’s all accepted and it is all beautiful and I absolutely love that.”
The magazine released the exclusive interview and cover on their Instagram early this morning announcing Janet as the face of their February 2022 cover with the caption, “We’re excited to reveal Allure’s February cover; the living legend and music icon, #JanetJackson! Ahead of her highly anticipated upcoming #janetjacksondoc, we connected with Ms. Jackson in London about her cross-generational catalogue, striking personal style, and what she believes the future holds. Read more at our #linkinbio."
Behind the scenes of Janet’s sexy and auspicious look is photographer, Tom Munro, stylist, Patti Wilson, hair stylist, Larry Sims, makeup artist, Preston Meneses, manicurist, Michelle Humphrey, and production company, Farago Projects.
In addition to discussing her lifelong music career, the 55-year-old mogul touched on the global impact of her 1986 album, Control, where she touches on many of the life experiences she’s endured as a singer in a competitive industry, the annulment of her marriage with James DeBarge, and her uneasy relationship with family in the scope of business.
"Writing about your life, you never, never — at least I didn’t — think about looking decades ahead,” she told Allure. “You just write [about] what’s going on with you; at least I did,” said Jackson.

#MusicNews: The Weeknd Is Teasing A Trilogy Of Albums
The Weeknd is working on another trilogy. Fresh off the release of Dawn FM, the XO superstar took to Twitter to reveal that his latest album is part of a trilogy.
“i wonder… did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?” he cryptically asked his followers.
He didn’t provide more information, but fans have theorized that the trilogy includes his 2020 album After Hours, Dawn FM, and a third album called After Life, which was teased on Dawn FM.
The track “Every Angel Is Terrifying” serves as an ’80s-inspired promo for something called After Life.
“Intense, graphic, sexy, euphoric / Provocative, edgy, thought-provoking,” says Abel. “A suspenseful exposé / Cinema like you’ve never seen it before / The exotic, bizarre and beautiful world of ‘After Life.'”
He adds, “‘After Life’ can be yours for only $4.95 with a subscription when you order the ‘Best of Your Current Life’ Collection Series.”
This would technically not be The Weeknd’s first trilogy. In 2012, he released his Trilogy compilation, composed of re-mixed and remastered versions of his 2011 mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence.
Dawn FM, which features Lil Wayne, Tyler, the Creator, and Quincy Jones, was released Friday to glowing reviews from fans and critics. Timbaland compared it to Michael Jackson’s Thriller, while Variety declared it “possibly The Weeknd’s best and most fully realized album to date.”
#HipHopNews: Drake Co-Signs Kodak Black: ‘You Really All That’
Kodak Black is the one, according to Drake. While Kodak was on Instagram Live, the Certified Lover Boy popped up in the comments to give the Sniper Gang rapper his flowers.
“You really all that for this generation and the next one if we being honest,” Drake wrote.
Kodak was clearly flattered and pinned the comment on his IG Live.
While the two have never collaborated, this is not the first time Drake has given Yak his co-sign. Back in 2018, he praised Kodak following the release of his album Dying to Live.
“Bro your album really one of my favorites in the last five years,” he told him in an Instagram DM. “The bars you are rapping about friends and your purpose is so pure.”
Kodak is a big Drake fan himself. Last year, he revealed that he wants to be mentored by Champagne Papi.
“Can’t Wait To Nas Put Me Under His Wing Him Or Drake,” he said. “I’m Fu**ed Up Bout Dem Two Ni**as.”
Kodak is enjoying success with his latest song “Super Gremlin,” which enters the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, becoming his third top 10 single after “ZEZE” (No. 2) and “Tunnel Vision” (No. 6).
Congrats! #BABYLOVE: Jeannie Mai and Jeezy Welcome First Child Together
Jeannie Mai and Jeezy have welcomed their first child together.
The Real co-host announced the news on Tuesday in an Instagram post. “I asked God for a life of love and happiness,” she wrote. “He sent me my family. Baby Jenkins is here.”
The couple didn’t share the name of the newborn.
Mai opened up about parenthood in an interview with Women’s Health last September. “Being a mom is hands down the hardest role in the entire world,” she said. “Now that we’re bringing another Jenkins into the picture, I have no idea what to expect.”
The news arrives less than a year after the couple exchanged vows, tying the knot at their Atlanta home last March. They subsequently revealed they were expecting a child together in September on The Real.
“Jeezy and I have been kind of saving this and hiding this for five months,” Jeannie said. “So, we’re relieved to finally share the news.”
Jeannie continued, “And falling in love with Jeezy, meeting someone who also didn’t feel safe in their life, we began to really create a place where our happiness spelled out what safe looked like around us,” she said. “So, as soon as you feel safe, in a healthy relationship, all of a sudden you start having visions and dreams and for both of us at the same time, it would be becoming parents, having kids.”
Steve Harvey Condemns “Cancel Culture” Says Political Correctness Has Killed Comedy It’s The Reason He Quit Stand-Up Comedy
While Steve Harvey has had a successful career in radio and television, a lot of his day one fans remember him more for his years as a comedian. Sadly, it may be a very long time before we see the 64-year-old tv star return to stand-up comedy. While promoting his new ABC courtroom comedy series, Judge Steve Harvey, the comedian and actor claimed that he couldn’t do another stand-up comedy special unless it were the last thing he ever did in Hollywood, due to the sensitive times that we are currently in. Comedy has always been known to push the envelope and cover sensitive topics while making it funny. Unfortunately Steve Harvey doesn’t feel like it’s worth the risk in today’s times. He explained,
“We’re in the cancel culture now. Nobody can say anything he wants to — Chris Rock can’t, Kevin Hart can’t, Cedric the Entertainer can’t, D.L. Hughley can’t. I can go down the list. The only person that can say what they want to say on stage is Dave Chappelle because he’s not sponsor-driven. He’s subscription. If I had tried to continue as a stand-up [comedian], there’s no way I could maintain it because political correctness has killed comedy, has killed it..Every joke now, it hurts somebody’s feelings. What people don’t understand about comedians is that a joke has to be about something. It has to be about somebody. We can’t write jokes about puppies all the time. The joke can’t be about bushes all the time. Some of these jokes have to be about people — because that’s the most interesting topic. So if I come back, I have to wait until I’m done [with my TV career]. And I’m not done. I’d have to call it This Is It or something like that.”
What are your thoughts on Steve Harvey’s comments about cancel culture?
Suspects wanted in Young Dolph murder captured
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The suspects wanted for the murder of rap star Young Dolph were captured on Tuesday, according to U.S. Marshals.
According to the press release, Johnson, 23, was captured around 3:00 p.m. in Indiana.
The second suspect, Cornelius Smith, 32, was indicted on several charges including first-degree murder, according to District Attorney General Amy. P Wierich. The press release also said Smith was also charged with attempted murder involving Young Dolph’s brother who was with him at the time of the shooting.
Smith was in DeSoto County Jail in Hernando for a previous arrest and was later transferred to Shelby County Jail on Tuesday.
A car connected to a deadly shooting in Covington may also be connected to the shooting of Young Dolph.
On Dec. 9, police say Smith was arrested in Southaven, Mississippi for an auto-theft warrant, which involved the white vehicle that was believed to be the getaway car in Young Dolph’s murder.
According to the press release, the white vehicle was stolen on Nov. 10 at a gas station on Kirby Road.
Smith is currently being held without bond.
Johnson, who goes by the rap name “Straight Drop” posted on his Instagram story that he would turn himself in on “Monday @201,” claiming that he was innocent.
Instead, Johnson posted a new “Straight Drop” music video the next day titled “Track Hawk.” The Instagram account was no longer available by Tuesday morning.
Johnson was also added to TBI’s “Most Wanted” list with a $15,000 reward being offered in his capture.
Kim Kardashian, Floyd Mayweather, And Paul Pierce Are Being Sued For Allegedly Duping Social Media Followers In A Crypto Pump-And-Dump Scheme
Celebrity Kim Kardashian and athletes Floyd Mayweather and Paul Pierce were named in a lawsuit for allegedly scamming their followers into investing in a cryptocurrency called EthereumMax.
via: Uproxx; As with most dramatic pop culture moments, it all started with an Instagram story.
“Are you guys into crypto????” Kim Kardashian posted to her 250 million Instagram followers last June. “This is not financial advice but sharing what my friends just told me about the Ethereum Max token! A few minutes ago Ethereum Max burned 400 trillion tokens—literally 50% of their admin wallet giving back to the entire E-Max community.” Now, Kardashian is among a slew of celebrities being sued by investors of Ethereum Max, in what is being considered a pump and dump scheme.
Also being sued are boxer Floyd Mayweather and NBA star Paul Pierce, who similarly used their social media accounts to post about Ethereum Max last spring between May and June. Ethereum Max peaked on May 31st 2021, before falling drastically over the next several weeks. The token has lost nearly 97% of its price.
The class action complaint claims that the celebrities were already paid in tokens for their sponsorships, so their posts effectively convinced thousands of Kardashian’s loyal fans to invest in something that suddenly became worthless. “In truth, Defendants marketed the EMAX Tokens to investors so that they could sell their portion of the Float for a profit.” It also alleges violations of state consumer protection laws.
Kardashian has yet to comment on her involvement in the scheme, but she isn’t the first celeb to encourage their fans to do something like this.
Trey Songz denies sexual assault accusations made by ex-UNLV basketball player Dylan Gonzalez
Trey Songz has denied accusations of sexual assault made by ex-UNLV basketball player and artist Dylan Gonzalez.
Reps for the 37-year-old musical artist told TMZ on Tuesday that Songz will be exonerated of the allegations in due time.
'Trey and his team are confident in the legal process and that there will be an abundance of exonerating information to come over the next few weeks,' the rep told the outlet.
Gonzalez, 27, took to social media on Tuesday with allegations that the R&B artist, whose full name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson, had sexually assaulted her in a hotel in Las Vegas.
'With what seems like endlessly reoccurring news of the alleged sexual assaults committed by Trey Songz, I am forced to repeatedly relive in my mind, and suffer anew, the long-suppressed horror and unbearable PTSD of my rape by his very hands at a well known Las Vegas hotel,' Gonzalez said in a statement on social media. 'I want to send my love, strength, and hope to all who are victims of sexual assault and its fatal nature. You are not alone.'
She continued, 'I stand with you and encourage all those who have suffered abuse to speak out and come forward. Suppression of our voices only emboldens our oppressors, and you cannot heal what you do not reveal.'
Gonzalez said she requested 'privacy, consideration and compassion' as she remains focused on pursuing 'the best course of action and all of [her] legal options.'
Gonzalez posted a statement on social media detailing her experience with the entertainer
A source close to Gonzalez told the outlet that the incident involving the Grammy-nominated performer in question happened years ago.
Gonzalez's lawyers Ariel Mitchell and George Vrabeck told TMZ that they are looking at a civil suit amid other legal options in the weeks ahead; the lawyers did not say anything about potential dealings with police in the process.
The attorneys are also representing a woman named Jahaura Jeffries, who identified herself publicly in claiming that Songz in 2018 had sexually assaulted at a club in Miami, People reported. Songz has not responded to the accusations, according to the outlet.

In an op-ed piece for Entertainment Weekly, Ross reflected on the importance of black-ish as well as how the series has changed her life.
"I fell in love with the script," she wrote. "We got to see a Black family that was thriving and not just surviving. And I was drawn to this loving relationship between a couple. I had rarely seen that on sitcoms — there wasn't just constant eye-rolling. And Rainbow was a woman who was more than just one thing: She was not just a wife. She was not just a mother. She was also a doctor. She had a real point of view."
The actress added: "To be able to walk into the end of this show, I'm left with so much joy and pride. I really loved dancing with my onscreen husband, Anthony Anderson. Fat Joe Launches Relief Fund For Victims Of Deadly Bronx Apartment Fire
In light of the tragic apartment fire that took the lives of 17 people in the Bronx over the weekend, Fat Joe has teamed up with the New York City Mayor’s Fund to launch a relief fund to raise money for victims and their families.
On Tuesday (Jan. 11), the “All The Way Up” emcee took to Twitter to share details about the fund. “My heart is saddened by the tragedy in my beloved Bronx,” he tweeted. “Please join me in supporting this community by donating to the Bronx Relief Fund at fatjoe.me/donatebronx.”
Aside from Joe’s own personal donation, he has also confirmed financial pledges from DJ Khaled and JAY-Z. Additionally, the Bronx native is in the process of contacting his prominent friends in the entertainment, music, business and sports communities for more aid.
On Sunday (Jan. 9), a fire broke out on the third floor of the duplex Twin Parks Towers North West, killing 17 people — including eight children. At least 44 people were hurt in the deadly flames and authorities say several of them are “clinging to their lives” in nearby hospitals.
So far, investigators are blaming the fire on a malfunctioning space heater. On Tuesday (Jan. 11), the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) ruled that all 17 victims died from smoke inhalation. “OCME is working with the affected families to confirm the IDs of victims through a careful forensic process and expedite the release of their loved ones for final arrangements,” an OCME spokesperson said. “This is deliberate but steady work, with some IDs confirmed and decedents released to funeral homes already. I expect that names will be shared by PD officially once the work is closer to completion.”
A candlelight vigil is planned for the victims on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the corner of Folin Street and Tiebout Avenue in Fordham Heights.
Antonio Brown Admits His Shirtless Exit “Wasn’t Necessary And Unprofessional
Looks like Antonio Brown has a little regret over his Tampa Bay Buccaneers game. He’s now admitting that his wild outburst was unnecessary and unprofessional.
Paparazzi caught up with the former NFL Player in Los Angeles Monday night as he hit up hotspot Craig’s for a bite with his new pal, Kanye West. Before he went inside, the Super Bowl champ was asked about his departure. He admitted that taking off his shirt and walking off the field during the game “probably wasn’t necessary or professional.”
His admission comes just days after AB called out the team and head coach for allegedly ignoring his ankle injury before his exit.
Antonio didn’t answer questions about what team he wants to head to next, but it looks his focus is now on his rap career. The athlete was seen in New York City on Sunday where he performed one of his new songs at a strip club.

Snoop Dogg Sets Sights On New Business Venture With “Snoop Doggs” Hot Dog Trademark
Snoop Dogg is arguably the most famous rapper to ever live. You almost can’t go a day without hearing something about Snoop or seeing him on a commercial. He even had a TV show with Martha Stewart. Now, Snoop is setting his sights on another business venture; hot dogs.
JUST IN: Snoop Dogg is starting his career in the hot dog business after filing a trademark on the brand name, ‘Snoop Doggs’ ‼️😳
According to Billboard, Snoop has filed a trademark application for the name “Snoop Doggs.”
“Snoop’s attorneys filed it as a so-called intent-to-use application, meaning Snoop has not yet launched a brand, but that he has a serious intent to do so,” Billboard stated. Under the company, Snoop plans to use the name to sell hot dogs and other kinds of sausages.
However, this is still in the beginning stages. The report says that the Long Beach MC’s attorneys filed the trademark as a “so-called intent-to-use application,” meaning Snoop has not launched a brand to release the products under, but has “serious intent to do so.”
News of Snoop venturing into the hot dog industry comes six years after he vowed to never eat another hot dog again During the “Howz It Mizzade’ segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Snoop Dogg watched a video and reacted to how the popular food is made.
“This is a hot dog!?” he said. “Oh, cuz, I ain’t never eating a motherf*****g hot dog. Ugh! Every time I see a motherfucker at a barbecue with a plate with a hot dog on it, I’m knocking that shit out of his hands. If that’s how they make hot dogs, I don’t want one,” he added. “I’m good.”
Gabrielle Union Reveals ‘Blackfish’ Backstory About ‘Bring It On’ Trailer
*Over 20 years after starring in the classic cheerleader comedy “Bring It On,” actress Gabrielle Union is now speaking out about how the film’s trailer was cut to make it appear that the Black cast was prominently featured.
“Story time!,” said Union in a TikTok video showing footage from the official “Bring It On” teaser.
“So, we shot these snippets that you see here after the movie wrapped, because once test-audiences saw the movie they wanted more of the Clovers,” she explained
“We shot these [scenes] only for the trailer, not for the movie, to make people think we were in the movie more than we were. The end,” said Union.

In response to her TikTok reveal, one stunned commentator wrote “We were black-fished!”
“That’s so evil. Why couldn’t they have just given y’all more scenes,” another commenter added.
“We really got robbed [with] ‘Bring It On,’” said a third film fanatic, while another noted: “[We] need a ‘Bring It On’ tell-all docuseries immediately.
In an interview with Vogue about the film’s 20th anniversary, Union talked about the plot’s racial element involving her character’s predominantly black, inner-city cheerleading squad facing off against the suburban, predominantly white Toros team led by actress Kirsten Dunst’s Torrance character. Regarding that one scene where Union’s Isis rejects Torrance’s attempt to write the Clovers a check for ripping off their choreography, Union told Vogue about the importance of the Clovers’ not being portrayed as victims.
“I didn’t want to be saved and I didn’t want the Clovers to be indebted,” said Union. “I wouldn’t have been okay with being saved by anyone else. That’s me in real life and that’s me in Bring It On. I do not find the concept of “Great White Hope” or white-savior movies appealing or entertaining in the least. I don’t like them, I don’t watch them, and I certainly don’t want to be in them if I can at all help it, so that scene was necessary.”

Tearful Jamie Lynn Spears says she ‘loves’ sister Britney amid family rift
Jamie Lynn Spears is addressing her rift with sister Britney Spears in an emotional interview with “Good Morning America” on Wednesday.
“I love my sister,” the 30-year-old says amid tears in a promo clip of the rare sit-down, released Tuesday.
ABC News journalist Juju Chang then points outs, “But things have gotten complicated.”
“I guess so,” Jamie Lynn, dressed in a cream suit, responds.
The sneak peek also shows that Chang will ask what “caused” the rift between both sisters, and what the “Things I Should Have Said” author regrets not saying.
Jamie Lynn is speaking up now since her tell-all memoir is set to be released on Jan. 18. However, the book comes out just as the former Nickelodeon star and her and Britney’s parents, Jamie and Lynn Spears, face backlash for their alleged abusive behavior toward Britney, 40.
The pop icon — who was just freed in November from a conservatorship that controlled all aspects of her life for 13 years — said in a hearing back in June that she even wanted to sue her family.
“I really couldn’t even take up for myself,” Britney told Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny at the time. “I couldn’t even have a conversation with my mom or dad… I was scared.”
She added, “I’m not here to be anyone’s slave.”
Jamie Lynn, in particular, was criticized for not speaking up for her sister publicly while she was under legal constraints or helping to promote the #FreeBritney movement.
However, the mother of two defended herself in an angry Instagram rant right after the bombshell court hearing.
“I think it’s extremely clear since the day I was born that I’ve only loved, adored and supported my sister,” Jamie Lynn previously said in a frustrated tone. “I mean, this is my freaking big sister, before any of this bulls–t.
“I don’t care if she wants to run away to a rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before, because I have nothing to gain or lose either way.”
Once Britney regained full control of her social media, the “Toxic” singer let her fans in on her true feelings regarding her younger sister.
In July, Britney blasted Jamie Lynn for remixing one of her songs at the 2017 Radio Disney Music Awards without her permission and then dubbed her a “mean ass.”
She also later threw shade at the aspiring author over the title of her book, which was originally called “I Must Confess” after Britney’s 1998 debut single, “…Baby One More Time.”
Britney said in October that may the “Lord have mercy” on her family’s souls if she ever did an interview herself.
Jamie Lynn’s interview will air in part on “Good Morning America” Wednesday morning, and the rest will be featured later that evening on “Nightline.”
Jay Z and Roc Nation Call Out the Feds for Refusing to Release Inmate Over Leftover Chicken
Jay Z is confused at why the FBI is refusing to release a man who served 144 years for weed, saying that one of the reasons for detaining him is because of a leftover prison meal.
Roc Nation is taking on the case of a man named Valon Vailes, who is serving a 20-year sentence for intent to distribute more than a ton of marijuana. Vailes was convicted in 2007 and reached out to Jay Z last year to ask for help with getting a reduced sentence.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the judge won’t budge over some interesting offenses.
Attorney Alex Spiro said Viles more than meets the eligibility and criteria for “compassionate release,” but in the documents, he says federal prosecutors won’t allow it due to Vailes taking leftover chicken from the jail canteen and smuggling it in his cell.
The documents also say that Vailes is being reprimanded for only using a piece of his prison uniform as “training equipment.”
In an interview with TMZ, Spiro says that even the initial sentencing of 20 years may have been different if Vailes was “whiter” and doesn’t think the government views him as a human being worthy of independence.
Last year September, the rapper’s legal team made two pleas to a North Carolina Judge asking for Vailes’ “compassionate release.”
The same week, Spiro filed a second motion, asking the court to reconsider their previous request—one which was dismissed due to inmate Vailes’ COVID-19 vaccination record, according to court documents obtained by Page Six.
“Mr. Vailes’ motion for compassionate release does not mention COVID-19 and does not rely on any COVID-19 related argument as basis for arguing in favor of a reduced sentence,” Spiro argued.
The 56-year-old earned his GED and has a “mentally ill” brother at home who needs a caregiver, according to TMZ. Vailes’ mother took care of the brother but passed away in 2020.
Vailes was found guilty by a jury for conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute more than one ton of marijuana from 2003 to 2007. So far, there have been no updates on his sentencing in this case.
Young Mother Filmed Tossing Her Newborn Baby Into A Dumpster
A young mother was arrested after a surveillance video captured her throwing her newborn baby boy in a dumpster.
The disturbing footage was captured on Friday in Hobbs, New Mexico. Around 2:00 p.m, 18-year-old Alexis Avila was seen pulling up in a white Volkswagen Jetta and parking it next to a dumpster on North Thorp Street. She then exits the car holding a black trash bag that she forcefully tosses into the trash before fleeing the scene. Six hours later, dumpster divers heard the baby crying and quickly opened the bag. A woman can be seen on video wrapping the baby boy up as a man frantically calls 911. The umbilical cord was still attached to him. Emergency responders transported the infant to a local hospital, where he is now in stable condition.
Police retrieved surveillance footage and tracked down Avila at her home. When they arrived, her parents told them that she was resting due to severe stomach pains. They seized her car and bloody clothing before she agreed to speak with them at the station. During her interview, Avila claimed a doctor told her she was pregnant on January 6th, just one day before she gave birth in the bathroom of her home. However, detectives learned that Avila was well aware of her pregnancy and told her 16-year-old ex-boyfriend and another friend she was expecting months ago. The child was supposed to be named Saul, according to the teen father, who is currently seeking custody. He told authorities that Avila told him she miscarried shortly before the baby was found alive in the dumpster.
One motive for Avila’s actions could be that the legal age of consent in New Mexico is 17, which means she had sex with the child’s father when he was underage. Avila could have landed in jail on sex offender charges if this had been found out. During her interview, she referred to the baby as “it” and remained quiet when investigators asked her if she knew what could’ve happened to the baby had he not been found.
Avila was arrested on Saturday. She was released later that evening on a $10,000 bond. She’s been charged with attempted murder and felony child abuse.
