OOOPS! Dustin Lance Black tells Sam Smith to ‘Stop Texting My Fiancé’!
Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black slammed Sam Smith on a professional and personal level after the Oscars on Sunday.
Smith, 23, won Best Original Song for “Writing’s on the Wall” for the “Spectre” soundtrack. In his acceptance speech, he made a glaring error Black couldn’t let go.
“I read an article a few months ago by Sir Ian McKellen, and he said that no openly gay man had ever won an Oscar,” Smith said in his acceptance speech. “If this is the case, even if it isn’t the case, I want to dedicate this to the LGBT community all around the world.”
Black, 41, took to Twitter to inform Smith that he had won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2009 for “Milk.” However, Black had more to say to Smith than just a history lesson.
Black is engaged to Olympic diver Tom Daley, 21. The couple announced their engagement in October 2015.
