He left Florida in 1947 for Philadelphia. There he met and married Ruth Byrd. Ruth was co-organizer of the Savettes Club, a savings club comprised of Philadelphia women who also sang together. Soon they encouraged their men to join them, and the Savettes of Philadelphia became a full-blown choir, with Goldwire a frequent lead singer. The Savettes of Philadelphia was among the choirs that helped form the first Gospel Music Workshop of America Mass Choir.
In the 2000s, McLendon sang and recorded with two other Philadelphia choirs, the Victory Chorale Union and the Brockington Ensemble. Rapper Nicki Minaj joined Erika Kirk on stage for a conversation at Turning Point USA‘s AmericaFest on Sunday. The “Super Bass” artist lauded President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, saying the former “has given so many people hope.”
Kirk has taken over as CEO of the young conservative organization her late husband founded. Speaking to Minaj this weekend, she asked what prompted the Grammy-nominated rapper to get involved in politics.
“I just got tired of being pushed around,” she said.
Minaj has previously praised the administration for promoting the contested claim that Christians are facing religious persecution in Nigeria. She gushed when she was asked about the current administration on Sunday.
“I love both of them,” . she said. “I have the utmost respect and admiration for our president. I don’t know if he even knows this, but he’s given so many people hope.”
Elsewhere in the chat, Minaj attacked California Gov. Gavin Newsom. She has criticized the prominent Democrat over his support of transgender health care for minors. She read some of her Newsom-critical social media posts aloud to cheers from the crowd.

The 35-year-old actor got emotional in his last sketch on Saturday night (December 20), where he played a Delta One Lounge employee who was working his last shift.
Joining Bowen was host Ariana Grande and musical guest Cher, as well as longtime cast member Kenan Thompson.
“This is my last shift. It’s sad. I’m gonna miss everything about this place. The way it smells. The celebrities who come through. Just last week, Josh O’Connor came through,” Bowen said in the sketch, referring to the week prior’s host.
Ariana played a member of his family, saying over the phone, “I wish you were home but I’m so proud of you and all the eggnog you’ve made over the years. Some of it was great, some of it was rotten.”
“And a lot of it got cut,” he replied. “But you know, I also think eggnog’s kinda like me. It’s not for everyone, but the people who like it are my kinda people.”
Ariana‘s character then joined him and said, “I wouldn’t miss your last shift for the world. “I can’t believe you’re retiring.”
He responded, “I just wanted to go out on top,” to which she joked, “Oh, everyone knows you’re a bottom.”
“Oh, Rhonda, I should have come home earlier,” Bowen said while getting emotional. “I just feel so lucky that I ever got to work here. And I just wanted to enjoy it for a little bit longer. Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) landed only 16 shots on Joshua, and spent most of the early rounds trying to evade his opponent before he got caught with a devastating right hand.
While he admitted that it wasn’t his best performance, Joshua praised Paul for his performance.
“What I could have done better is a lot of things, 100%. In the fight game, you’ve seen the amazing fighters that have graced us over the last hundred years. The expectations that we put on ourselves are immense, but I tried my best,” Joshua said.
“Jake [did] well while it lasted….I wish that I could have knocked him out at the start, but as we saw tonight, Jake has spirit,” Joshua continued. “He has some heart. He tried his best, and I take my hat off to him.”
Paul shared that he was not surprised that he lasted almost six rounds with Joshua.
“I just got tired, to be honest,” Paul said. “It was just so much handling his weight. I think if I could have had better cardio, I could have kept it up and kept on fighting. But he did amazing, he hits really hard. I just did my personal best.”
During the fight, Paul’s jaw was broken in two places by Joshua. Instead of speaking at the post-fight press conference, he drove himself to a local hospital.

The Emmy-winning comedian quietly released a new Netflix standup special, The Unstoppable, shortly after the Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua boxing match wrapped with a victory for Joshua.
Chappelle teased the release earlier in the day via an Instagram video posted to the Netflix Is a Joke account, where he thanked fans and gave a nod to his hometown.
“I wanted to shout out my hometown, Washington, D.C., and thank everybody that came out in October to support me at that show,” Chappelle said in the video. “I just want you to know that show will be streaming on Netflix tonight after the fight. My new special drops, and I hope you love it. Thank you very much.” He signed off, “Chicka, Chicka!”
The special runs one hour and 15 minutes. According to Netflix’s official description, “Facing a world gone sideways, comedy icon Dave Chappelle delivers bold truths and potent punchlines in this no-holds-barred special.”
The Unstoppable marks Chappelle’s eighth standup special for Netflix, following The Age of Spin, Deep in the Heart of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, Sticks & Stones, The Closer, and The Dreamer.
Netflix has also previously released Chappelle projects with little advance notice. In 2022, the streamer dropped What’s in a Name?, a 40-minute video featuring Chappelle speaking at his alma mater, Washington, D.C.’s Duke Ellington School of the Arts, where he addressed the criticism he has faced for jokes about transgender people.

Pete Davidson and Elsie Hewitt welcome first baby
Pete Davidson and his girlfriend Elsie Hewitt welcomed their first baby together, a little girl named Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson.
"Our perfect angel girl arrived 12/12/2025," Hewitt shared on Instagram Dec. 18. "My best work yet, i am absolutely overflowing with love and gratitude and disbelief."
She also included a message from Davidson, reading, "Wu tang forever."
The couple, who confirmed their romance in March, took their relationship to the next level four months later by announcing they were expecting with a cheeky social media reveal.
“Welp,” Hewitt, 29, wrote in a July Instagram post, “now everyone knows we had sex.”
Shortly after sharing their happy news, Davidson, 32, told E! News he felt “very lucky and very, very happy” about becoming a dad, noting that he was eager to “take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have.”
“I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have,” he explained, “and what you didn’t like, not do it.”
Pete Davidson is going to be a dad. On July 16, Elsie Hewitt, the comedian’s girlfriend, announced on Instagram with a cheeky caption that the two are expecting their first child together.

“We are really happy for Mr. Jordan and his family that justice was served,” his attorney John Diaz said. Jordan remains incarcerated as he awaits trial on unrelated drug charges from years after the killing.

Anok Yai is opening up about her battle with a very serious medical condition.
On Friday (December 19), the 28-year-old model, who was just recently named the 2025 Model of the Year by the Fashion Awards, revealed that she has been diagnosed with a congenital defect that is “overworking” her heart and “destroying” her lungs.
“For the past year I’ve been dealing with this silent battle. I incidentally found out I had a Congenital defect overworking my heart and slowly destroying my lungs,” Anok wrote along with several videos and photos of herself in the hospital.
“What started as something asymptomatic for the majority of my life turned into a lingering cough, which turned to chest pains, bouts of coughing up blood, then at times struggling to breathe,” she continued. “I chose to work through this while trying to find the right doctor and the right time. I quickly realized there was never going to be a ‘right time’ – my health would continue to worsen. Ive always thought I could outwork or outrun anything but the universe has a way of slowing you down and waking you up.”
“So yesterday I had a successful Robotic Lung Surgery thanks to Dr. Robert Cerfolio and his gracious and talented team who I am forever indebted to for giving me more time,” she shared.
A robotic thoracic surgery is minimally invasive surgery that removes diseased lung tissue and surrounding lymph nodes, according to the American Lung Association.

However, it was later revealed that the “victims” are actually Evan, 37, and Michael‘s two kids Paris and Prince Jackson.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Thursday making Christmas Eve and December 26 official federal holidays.
“All executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, and Friday, December 26, 2025, the day before and the day following Christmas Day, respectively,” the order stated.
Trump’s order gives federal workers a 5-day holiday break for the first time in history.
It is common for the federal government to remain open on Christmas Eve or on the day after Christmas. But giving federal employees both days off is unprecedented.
Last year, former President Joe Biden gave federal employees Christmas Eve off.
Christmas Day, December 25, is already a federal holiday.
Trump’s executive order means all non-essential U.S. federal government offices and agencies are closed for 3 days straight.
Additionally, banks, post offices, and government buildings will be closed for 3 days to observe the Christmas holiday.
Trump said the 5-day Christmas break gives additional time off for federal workers to spend with their families.
Trump’s directive gives federal employees 13 annual holidays off with pay.
Essential employees such as law enforcement and national security are expected to continue working on those days.
