He’s Done it AGAIN! James Fortune: Gospel Singer Arrested For Aggravated Assault!
Well Y'all can the church say AMEN! He's dne it AGAIN! Grammy nominated gospel singer James Fortune was arrested Friday, October 24 for aggravated assault of a family member and released on $20,000 bond, according to staffers at the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s office, reports MyFoxHouston.com.
The name of the family member involved has not been released.
According to lawsuit documents, in 2001 James Fortune burned his 4-year-old step son, leaving the boy disfigured with 2nd and 3rd degree burns on nearly half of his body. His wife Cheryl was also named in the lawsuit.
According to the civil lawsuit, James picked up his step son from pre-school and the teacher told James the boy had been acting up in class. Fortune then scolded the boy the entire ride home and continued to yell and be-raid the boy when they got home. He then prepared a scolding hot bath for the boy. The lawsuit also says James Fortune told the boy to take off his clothes and preceded to whip the boy before pushing the toddler in the scolding hot bath, holding him underwater causing 2nd and 3rd degree burns.
In 2003 James Fortune plead guilty to felony injury to a child and received 6 years deferred adjudication.
The toddler’s biological father is responsible for the lawsuit and is suing for $5 Million in order to take care of the boy’s continued plastic surgery.
Fortune, a two-time Grammy Nominee, three-time Stellar Award winner and six-time ASCAP award winning songwriter, has not released a statement about this new aggravated assault charge. This is such an embarrassment to Gods Kingdom but I guess it’s safe to say ‘HE’S HUMAN’?
Gospel artist Tye Tribbett believes that he can reach more people through love than hate and that’s something he hopes Christian leaders remember when it comes to bringing correction to their followers’ lives.
“I just think their approach is militant, and I think a lot of times when your sin is not somebody else’s sin, it’s so much easier to condemn,” Tye told Sister 2 Sister in reference to how pastors deal with congregants who are struggling with same-sex attraction. “It makes you feel better about your dysfunctions when another person’s dysfunctions are seemingly worse.”
Though he said a lot of churches aren’t as condemning as they used to be, Tye spoke to S2S Publisher Jamie Foster Brown about the controversial issue and whether it’s God’s best for His people.

S2S: I think we keep ourselves so contained within this box, and especially religion does. Plus, with homosexuality, quite frankly, I just think it’s a natural thing for them, because I don’t think anybody, especially in the past, would want to come here and be condemned. Nobody wants that. People want to be naturally accepted. Do you understand what I’m saying?
Tye: Yeah, I definitely understand. Well, I want to respond to that: There are lots of things that are natural to us that may not be God’s best for us. That’s my only thing. I’m not saying that homosexuality is not natural. I agree with you that it is. There are several things that come naturally that’s not God’s best. Children 2 years old, “Did you eat that cookie?” “No.” Lying came naturally to them.
S2S: Right.
Tye: Nobody taught that kid how to lie. It came in the flesh package, but that’s not God’s best. There are certain things that can trigger the not-so-great natural in all of us. But is it God’s will or God’s best for us, period? And I don’t condemn homosexuality, but I don’t believe it’s God’s best for our lifestyle, according to the Bible.
And Just saying Tye according to The Bible you committing adultery is not God’s best neither…..right?

The James Fortune Child Abuse Case UPDATE Part #2 MUGSHOT

You have read my post yesterday about the pending lawsuit against James
Fortune and his wife, Cheryl, stemming from child abuse allegations back in
2001. Allegedly, James severely burned his stepson, Cheryl’s biological son, by
pushing him into a bathtub of scalding hot water. The child was four at the
time. He suffered excruciating burns to a majority of his body, from his waist
to his feet and on his hands. Since the time of the incident the boy has
undergone numerous skin grafts in an effort to remove the scars. Now, the
biological father, Roderick Davenport, is suing the Fortune’s to pay for plastic
surgery to fix the disfiguring scars on his son’s body. He’s asking for $5
million to take care of the procedures.
Davenport says that he is pursuing the
lawsuit now because the child is 15 and old enough for the surgeries.
According to Fox News, Davenport says the injuries at the time of the
incident looked like his son was burned with fire. In the video below you can
see the damage done by the scalding hot water. We warn you that they are
graphic, even though some parts are blurred out. Davenport also says he couldn’t
believe that someone would do that to a 4 year old. He claims he was informed by
doctors that his son was likely held in the scalding hot water in order to
receive such severe burns.
In James’ initial call to 911 after the child was
burned, he claimed that his son burned himself in the bathtub by messing around
and turning the water on hot. The 4 year old spent 63 days at Shriner’s Burn
Hospital in Galveston after he was flown there by life flight. Child Protective
Services took custody away from Cheryl. After an investigation Davenport was
granted custody and Cheryl was given visitation.
“He has had dreams that awake him at night. He remembers the helicopter,”
says Davenport. Reports say that in 2003, James Fortune pled guilty to Felony
Injury to a Child and was given six years deferred adjudication, however, he
denies this report.
James has released a statement regarding the lawsuit earlier
this week, and recently released another.
Here is his second
statement: “Several months ago I received a demand for payment from my
stepson’s father for an injury to my stepson that occurred in 2001. In the
midst of negotiating a settlement regarding that injury, I was served with a
lawsuit and now my wife and I are defending ourselves in civil court. At no time
in my life was I convicted of felony injury to a child. Following my step-son’s
injury, there was a criminal investigation and all matters were resolved.
Since that time, my family and I, including my stepson, have maintained a
continuous loving family environment. Although his father has maintained
custody, Cheryl and I have enjoyed continuous uninterrupted open visitations
with my step-son since 2001. We are shocked by this lawsuit but understand
people are free to use the court system to pursue matters, whether or not the
claims are baseless. We are confident through this process, the ultimate
decision maker will render an outcome that is just and fair. We believe in our
American justice system and know that once all facts are made transparent
justice will prevail in our favor. This lawsuit is a direct result of our
desire to continue the uninterrupted love, commitment and financial support as
well as to protect the ongoing well being while enhancing the current living
conditions of our son. We have given our stepson who is currently in our care
during his summer break continuous support and understand these allegations are
a direct result of not only our increased profile and financial viability but an
individual’s desire to exploit such.
We intend to vehemently defend our right to protect our family while
maintaining the character integrity and trusted core values the Fortune family
has been blessed to exemplify.”

Davenport is suing for five million dollars. He says he filed the suit
because now at 15-years-old his son is old enough to get plastic surgery to
correct some of the scarring and Davenport says Fortune was not agreeing to pay
for those expenses.

began to surface Monday that the gospel singer James Fortune (pictured) was
being sued for a reported $5 million for abusing his then-4-year-old stepson
back in 2001 and disfiguring him. Fortune pled guilty to the felony charge of
injury to a child and received a six-year deferred adjudication. Now the
biological Father of the victim, who is now 15 years old, wants Fortune to pay
for the plastic surgery that could correct the disfigurements, reports My
Fox.
According to the lawsuit, the tragic
turn of events began when Fortune picked up his wife Cheryl‘s son from
preschool. When the teacher told Fortune that the child misbehaved, he allegedly
became infuriated. The man of God reportedly yelled and berated the child for
his mischievous behavior, gave him time out, then prepared a scalding bath for
him.
The lawsuit, which also names Cheryl,
contends that Fortune then demanded that the little boy remove his clothing so
that he could “whip the child with a switch.” The man then forcefully submerged
the boy in extremely hot water and held him down. The boy sustained second-
and- third-degree burns over 47 percent of his body. The child’s injuries
were so extensive that he had to be flown to two hospitals for treatment. The
permanently disfigured child remained at a hospital in Galveston, Texas, for 63
days, where he received various skin grafts for his hands, buttocks, genitals,
and legs.

Now, in response to his
reignited scandal, the man who believes his mission is to draw lost souls to
Christ has issued a response:
I recently became aware of
a civil suit pending against my wife, Cheryl Fortune, and I, for an incident
that occurred in 2001 involving my stepson. There was a criminal investigation
and all matters were resolved in 2003. Since that time, my family and I,
including my stepson, have continued with family traditions and always have a
loving family environment.
We are shocked by this
lawsuit but understand people are free to use the court system to pursue claims,
whether they contain merit or baseless matters. We are confident through this
process, if it proceeds to a judge or jury, the ultimate decision maker will
render a decision that is favorable to the circumstances and timing surrounding
this situation. We believe in our American justice system and know it will work
for us as it has for millions of other Americans.
I love all my children,
including my stepson, and I ask for your prayers as we deal with this matter
privately. Thank you for your continued support for me, my family, and
ministry.*
Fortune is the former Minister of Music for
Houston’s mega-church Higher Dimension. Besides being a recording artist, Fortune
is a songwriter and producer. He and his group Fiya have received multiple
Stellar Awards and are recognized for their songs “I Believe” and “I Trust
You.”
And this little nugget came to me from
someone in the Houston area. QUOTE” I know all the parties in
this case, the father is a respected educator in the Houston Community and owns
a private school. He’s a hard worker and is loved by the students at his school.
James Fortune is a selfish SOB who has preyed on people for years because church
people are sooo stupid and vulnerable. So let me drop another bomb on you
all…James has another mentally disabled child that they keep hidden away because
its not a love child…its a rape child. That bastard participated in a gang rape
at a church and it was determined by DNA he was the one who fathered the child.
I can’t stand him or his fake wife!!! The news media needs to investigate that

A PHILADELPHIA GOSPEL LEGEND: Gabriel
Hardeman Gospel Singer/Composer Dies at 68
Singer-songwriter, Gabriel S. Hardeman, best-known for co-writing
R&B star Stephanie Mills’ 1987 #1 hit “I Feel Good All Over” and Teddy
Pendergrass’ “Truly Blessed”, died Saturday, June 16 in the Philadelphia area
from complications of Interstitial Fibrosis. He was 68 years old. He was
diagnosed with the illness in May 2000, but with medication functioned well
until 2005 when he started intermittently using a portable oxygen tank. His
condition improved after a 2009 single lung transplant at the University of
Pennsylvania Hospital but he recently began contacting friends to say that his
prognosis was grim and to say goodbye.
Born December13, 1943 in College Park, GA where his father was an
African Methodist Episcopal pastor, he kicked off his music career by singing
and playing piano at his dad’s church. His parents moved the family up north for
better financial opportunities when he was still a youth. They settled in
Harrisburg, PA before finally moving to Philadelphia where Hardeman graduated
from William Penn High School.
After graduation, he briefly joined the R&B band, the El
Dantes, before going off to West Virginia State College as a physical education
major. Upon graduation, he worked as a physical education teacher and it’s
during that period that The Gabriel Hardeman Delegation was born. “There was a
talent show, and I wanted to get some kids together and do some gospel music,”
he told Rashod Ollison at Philadelphia Inquirer in 2001. “`Oh Happy Day’ was hot
then. I had about 40 kids and the next thing you know, word got around and we
had like, 80 kids in the choir.”
They started performing throughout the year but he’d lose his best
singers as they graduated from high school, so he decided to create an
independent group and named it The Delegation in 1973. “We were doing then what
folks like Kirk Franklin are doing now,” he told the Inquirer. “We would go into
these conservative churches, and they would tell us we were doing the devil’s
music.” The group signed to Savoy Records where they recorded hit albums such as
the self-titled LP that featured the radio hit “Feels Like Fire” and earned a
Grammy Award nomination.
Hardeman became disenchanted with the politics of the gospel world
and retired from recording for a while. However, he and his wife, Annette
Hardeman (from the disco era trio, First Choice, best known for “Dr. Love”)
began to write songs together. They wrote Stephanie Mills’ #1 R&B hit “I
Feel Good All Over,” Mikki Howard’s #2 R&B smash “Love Under New Management”
and a “This is the Last Time” and “Truly Blessed” for Teddy Pendergrass. They
also did backing vocal sessions for R&B acts such as Patti Labelle, Phil
Perry and Phyllis Hyman.
Eventually, the industry demand for them to write more salacious
R&B music conflicted with their faith and they devoted themselves to writing
and producing gospel music. Aside from writing for gospel acts such as Edwin
Hawkins and the Wilmington-Chester Mass Choir, Hardeman recorded his own albums
for the Messiah and Birthright labels before making a comeback with the Stellar
Award nominated, “To the Chief Musician”, CD in 2001. Hardeman returned to
Atlanta in 2003 to take care of his elderly parents and he became a pastor in
the Belleview Circuit AME Churches in the city. He returned to Philadelphia in
2008 to take advantage of the better medical facilities in the
city.
He is survived by his wife, Annette Hardeman, and their son,
Michael. R.I.P!

Fake Twitter Account
Twitter won’t let Chris Brown be great. Recently, a fake
twitter account was created that sent Breezy’s PR team into over-drive. The fake
twitter account, tweeted a not-so-nice message to 66-year-old singer Cher (real
name Cherilyn Sarkisian). The message said“That damn GRANNY b*tch CHER needs to keep her mouth SHUTTTT
about her opinion against obama !!! smh she needs a beating ***”Ouch, right? Cher fans went into full over-drive, bombarding
Chris’ twitter mentions defending her.
And Chris quickly hoped on twitter, to
clarify that the message was not from him. He wrote:
“@Cher if this
is your real twitter I would like to say that some of ur fans like @cherarmy1
are spreading false accusations! I have the utmost respect for u as an artist!
@cher .
Just to clear this up!”
Cher quickly responded: “Thanks Chris,Appreciate The
Sentiment!As artist I’m Always Impressed by u!No war!no throw ‘n Shade!Just

Chad Ochocinco Released by New England Patriots
NFL Player Chad Ochocinco is no longer a member of the New
England Patriots, according to the NFL Network and ESPN.
Ochocinco took to Twitter Thursday afternoon to thank Patriots
fans. “Thoroughly enjoyed the oppurtunity to play for the “Patriot”
organization… fans were f—— wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best…,”
Ochocinco tweeted. The Patriots pushed trade conversations with other teams up
to near the end of the day’s transaction deadline at 4 p.m. But despite
conversations with other teams, there was not enough interest to make a
deal.
Ochocinco’s biggest issue in New England was not his ability;
it had more to do with his ability to pick up the Patriots playbook, which the
veteran wide receiver struggled to do. Earlier on Thursday, there had been
speculation that this was Ochocinco’s last day with the Patriots because the
wide receiver left the training facility before the team’s OTA. However,
Ochocinco said later in the day he had not been released and simply was
attending an eye doctor’s appointment.
Ochocinco, who was paid almost $6 million last season, earlier
this year agreed to restructure his contract for 2012. He lowered his base
salary to $925,000 from the $3 million he had been scheduled to earn, thus
ensuring himself a roster spot — for the short term.

her first album in five years after signing a new record deal. The singer has

has announced a new deal with Light Records. Michelle reveals her forthcoming
album will be a return to her gospel roots after the pop-inspired, Unexpected.

Rapper and actress Lauryn Hill has been charged with failing
to file three taxes for three years, Despite earning $1.6M in income from
royalties and performances, but busy being mom to 6 kids, Lauryn Hill has been
charged with failure to file her taxes for 2005, 2006 and 2007. The charges are
directed towards the four companies that Lauryn owns: Creations Music, Boogie
Tours, L.H. Productions 2001 and Studio 22. AP News reports:
"According to court documents, in 2005 Hill received a total
gross income in excess of $818,000; during 2006, she received $222,000; and in
2007, $761,000. Each of the three tax charges against Hill carries a maximum
penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine."
The rap diva, who recently appeared at Summer Jam 2012, is
scheduled to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael Shipp on June 29 in
regards to the charges. Possible consequences? Maximum 1 year in jail or
$100,000 fine per charge. Damn homie.

Her late father Michael Jackson would frequently make his
children wear an array of masks in a bid to keep herself and brothers Prince
Michael and Prince Michael II out of the prying eye of the paparazzi
lens. Now the King Of Pop's daughter Paris has opened up about the disguises,
describing that period of time in her life as being 'confusing.'
But in
Oprah's Next Chapter interview, which aired on Sunday on OWN, the 14-year-old
also says she now understands what her father's intention was. 'I was really
confused,' the teen tells Winfrey. 'I didn't get why I was wearing a mask.
But I understand it now – why my dad would want our faces to be covered. When we
went out without him we wouldn't be recognized.'
She said that the mask-wearing helped her and her brothers

Talks About Pregnancy
Le’Andria Johnson, Season 3 winner of ‘Sunday’s Best’ and
GRAMMY Award recipient, is pregnant with her fourth child, and covers the Spring
2012 Precious Times magazines magazine. I love Le’Andria’s honesty and
transparency. While she acknowledges that she does not condone her situation,
she believes that she’s pregnant and having her baby for a reason.
She said that a lot of people in the Gospel industry have
abortions and sweep it under the rug, but she plans on being the spokesperson
for the next woman who comes across a situation like hers. “I’m not condoning
it, but I believe we should help one another and support one
another.”.
I know a lot of people are wondering about who the father of
the baby is. She said that the father is a musician and he said that he would be
there for her. It’s his first child, so he is excited. She said that she is not
going to get married because she is pregnant, but she will be marrying
soon.

VH1 has released the super trailer for "Love & Hip Hop:

VH1 is preparing for the "Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta"
premiere on Monday, June 18, having released a super trailer for the series. The
series will be 10 episodes, featuring Stevie J, a three-time Grammy
Award-Winning producer, Stevie’s longtime girlfriend Mimi Faust, Latina rapper
named Joseline, Lil Scrappy, his girlfriend Erica Dixon, and his mother, a
former hustler known as “Momma Dee.” The show also includes Atlanta rapper
Rasheeda, her manager/husband Kirk Frost, songbird K.Michelle, and Trinidadian
R&B singer Karlie Redd.

The last time we checked, rumors were swirling that
38-year-old Tyra Banks had bounced back from ending her long-term relationship
with banker boyfriend (John Utendahl) and linked up with rapper
Drake.

at an amusement park. Both shot down rumors and never addressed their outing
together ‘head-on’ per se, but now rumors have linked Tyra to another
fair-skinned gentleman.

24-year-old man named Robert Evans. Who the eff is that? Glad you asked. He’s a
British boxer-turned model, and will be a judge on the upcoming America’s Next

countries, seems to capture Mr. Ali in private reverie. Photographed last month
by Annie Leibovitz in his Phoenix backyard, Mr. Ali watches with pleasure as a
young boy stands with fists gloved, feet splayed, chest puffed. Though not
identified in the ad, the child is his grandson, Curtis Muhammad Conway Jr. A

Azealia Banks Drops GaGa’s Manager as her own
Sources today are saying that Azealia Banks and her manager
Troy Carter, who also looks after Lady Gaga, have ended their
partnership. Announcing the news on Twitter.com, she wrote, “A whole new
set of resources to take advantage of… We’re gonna vamp this up and make it
official… No more ghetto mixes and closet recording… I have a budget
now!”
Troy Carter issued a statement to Billboard magazine,
saying: “I can confirm that I ended the business relationship with Azealia
last month on very amicable terms. She’s incredibly talented and I wish her
nothing short of an amazing career.” Banks had teamed up with Coldplay
manager David Holmes. It was even said that the two were involved romantically,
but both rumors have been shut down; Banks remains without
representation.

at Samsung’s Hope For Children Gala — E! News scored an interview with the Oscar
winner, her first interview since the guilty verdict. Jennifer spoke about, the
memory of her beloved nephew and gave us some news about her next album. “I’m
getting started on my third album this summer, and I have a few films in the
works. I’m now just getting back out there and into my rhythm again, so one day
