Hulk Hogan Rejoices in Sex Tape Trial Victory
He’s been through the wringer as of late after Gawker released a sex tape without his permission, and now Hulk Hogan is holding his head high in the wake of his $140 million judgement.
In an interview with People, the 62-year-old wrestling champ gushed, "I was relieved that people actually finally believe me. So many people thought I was making a sex tape to sell as entertainment."
Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, was originally awarded $55 million for economic injuries and $60 million for emotional distress, and earlier this week the jury kicked in another $25 million in punitive damages just to put the screws to Gawker. Hulk added, “I heard them say the number and I said, ‘What? What are the numbers?’ It was just something I wanted people to know that this is not right. It was never about trying to destroy- it was about trying to make things the way they were supposed to be.”

If I were Kim Fields I would take it as a compliment that the ladies of Real Housewives Of Atlanta don’t consider her a right fit for the show. On the reunion, everyone explained why Kim is too classy for RHOA, and now NeNe Leakes is giving her two million cents on the subject.
NeNe agrees that Kim doesn’t mix well with the existing ladies. “I don’t think she’s a good fit for the show. I don’t think she fits with the cast,” she explains. “It’s not a good thing if you don’t fit with the cast.”
Does that mean the Grande Dame of Bravo wants Kim fired? Not at all! “That doesn’t mean I want her off,” NeNe clarifies. “If they want her on, she can stay on until she’s blue in the face – I couldn’t care less. I don’t think she’s changing [the chemistry] in a negative way, I just don’t think she’s like the most exciting character ever.”
NeNe tells TooFab that she believes Real Housewives Of Atlanta producers “thought [Kim] was going to be something that she’s not.” Meaning producers wanted Kim to sink to ratchet levels but she resisted?
“I personally like her, but if I was casting, she wouldn’t be my choice,” NeNe continues. NeNe also adds that “maybe someday” she’ll be the Executive Producer in charge of such decisions! NeNe has notoriously battled with the Real Housewives Of Atlanta producers and this was reportedly heavily behind her motive to quit this season.
Real Housewives Of Atlanta included Kim in the cast hoping to not only class up the show, but bring more star power to the group. I personally enjoyed that Kim was able to state her piece, without getting sleazy or trashy. More of that please!

The rookie cop convicted of fatally shooting unarmed Akai Gurley in the darkened stairwell of a housing project should not spend a single day in prison, Brooklyn’s top prosecutor said Wednesday.
Instead, Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson sent a letter to the judge recommending that Peter Liang complete 500 hours of community service, five years probation and be confined to house arrest for six months.
The reaction from Gurley’s family was swift and sharp.
“We speak as Akai's mother, aunt and stepfather,” relatives said in a statement. “We are outraged at District Attorney Thompson's inadequate sentencing recommendation. Officer Liang was convicted of manslaughter and should serve time in prison for his crime.”

“This sentencing recommendation sends the message that police officers who kill people should not face serious consequences,” they said. “It is this ongoing pattern of a severe lack of accountability for officers that unjustly kill and brutalize New Yorkers that allows the violence to continue.”
Liang, who was fired after a jury convicted him of manslaughter on Feb. 11, faces up to 15 years in prison when he’s sentenced next month.
“Because the incarceration of the defendant is not necessary to protect the public, and because of the unique circumstances of this case, the People do not believe that a prison sentence is warranted," Thompson wrote in a letter to Supreme Court Justice Danny Chun.
Thompson argued there are mitigating circumstances that favor probation — the fact that Liang was a rookie cop with less than a year on the street, that he was patrolling a darkened stairwell to try and keep the residents of the Pink Houses safe, and that there was no evidence that he intended to kill 28-year-old Gurley who was two floors below.
Liang fired one round that ricocheted off a wall and struck Gurley in the chest, killing him. The cop was violating NYPD protocol by having his finger on the trigger of his service weapon when there was no immediate threat posed to him or his partner, Shaun Landau.
Patrick Lynch, president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association, said on Wednesday that Liang should never have been charged with a crime.
“Police officers are human being and as such can make mistakes while risking their lives to protect the community,” he said. “Criminalizing a mistake, even a tragic accidental discharge like this, serves no good purpose. The reasons cited by the DA for justifying no jail time in this tragedy are the very same reasons that the officer should not have been indicted in the first place.”
Not everyone agreed. “We are outraged that District Attorney Thompson's sentencing recommendation for former NYPD Officer Peter Liang includes no jail time,” said Loyda Colon, co-director of the Justice Committee. “Liang entered a stairwell in the Pink Houses with his gun drawn — against NYPD protocol. He shot unarmed Akai Gurley, who was doing nothing wrong. Then he attempted to cover up his wrongdoing rather than assist Gurley, who lay dying on the floor. These are criminal actions, for which Liang should be held accountable.”
Colon called on the judge to send Liang to prison, slamming Thompson, who is African American, as a “hypocrite and part of a criminal justice system that continues to devalue black lives.”

"This D.A. has done what no other prosecutor in recent time has done, obtained an indictment and conviction of a police officer for the wrongful shooting of an innocent man," said lawyer Scott Rynecki who represents Kimberly Ballinger, Gurley's girlfriend and the mother of his 3-year-old daughter Akaila.
Thompson noted in the letter to the judge that in 2008, former NYPD cop Brian Conroy was sentenced to five years probation and 500 hours of community service after he was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in the fatal shooting of Ousmane Zongo in Manhattan.
Liang is scheduled to be sentenced on April 14.
Defense lawyer Paul Schectman, who is seeking to have the verdict thrown out by Chun, called Thompson's recommendation "exceptional."
"Although we disagree with Mr. Thompson on the fundamental issue of Peter's culpability, he deserves praise for his dispassionate and courageous decision that incarceration is not called for in this case," Schectman said in a statement

Actor Jussie Smollett, who has been an outspoken advocate for HIV/AIDS prevention, delivered that message loud and clear in a conversation with the over at HuffPost Live last week.
The “Empire” star warned against considering HIV/AIDS to be a problem from “yesteryear.”
“We get attached to these hashtags and it becomes this social media fad,” he said. “But it’s almost as if HIV/AIDS stopped being the thing to talk about before social media came around. We’ve gotta bring that back because we’re not done.”
In recent years, the estimated incidence of HIV has remained stable at about 50,000 new HIV infections annually, but gay men and African Americans are still most affected. With new infections still occurring, the actor stressed the importance of knowing one’s HIV status and being open about it.
“Getting tested, knowing your status, being responsible for yourself and other people is so important — being honest with yourself, number one, so you can be honest with everyone else,” he said.
Smollett also shared words of optimism for those who have been infected and are seeking proper treatment.
“We have to remember that it’s not a death sentence. You can live with it and you can live a beautiful, wonderful life with it, but it’s also something that we can prevent,” he said.

R. Kelly Announces ‘The Buffet Tour’
R. Kelly is bringing his Buffet to a city near you. The R&B superstar has announced dates for “The Buffet Tour.”
Kellz is set to kick off the 40-city U.S. trek at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio before hitting Detroit, Cleveland, Kansas City, and Chicago, among other cities. Finally, it’s set to close its curtains on June 11 at Philips Arena in Atlanta.
According to a press release, “The Buffet Tour” promises to “be one of R. Kelly’s most entertaining shows to date.” He will be joined by a live band and backup dancers while performing songs for the first time live.
