The Stonewall Inn repaired its broken window after a teen bashed in the window with a baseball bat early Saturday in Greenwich Village.
A teenager irate he was thrown out of Greenwich Village’s historic Stonewall Inn, the birthplace of the LGBT civil rights movement, bashed in the bar’s window with a baseball bat early Saturday, officials said.
The attack did nearly $7,000 worth of damage to the window and the bar’s iconic Stonewall Inn neon sign, authorities said
William Gomez, 19, was hanging out in the bar with co-workers when he was thrown out of the legendary Christopher St. watering hole by a bouncer, according to cops and Gomez’s mother.
He allegedly returned with a baseball bat about 4:30 a.m. and smashed the bar’s window with it, punching holes in the glass and damaging the neon sign that sits in the window..
Cops arrested Gomez near the scene, charging him with criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
Gomez was freed after his arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court on Saturday evening.
He is not facing hate crime charges since it does not appear that the attack was motivated by the bar’s significance in the gay rights movement, sources said.
Gomez’s mother, who declined to give her name, told the Daily News her son isn’t gay and his girlfriend is expecting their child soon. She said he went to the bar with a group of co-workers.
She says her son called her Saturday from lockup, claiming a bouncer had punched him in the face before he was thrown out of the bar.
“He said that a bodyguard was messing with one of his co-workers and he told him to stop,” she said. “He then thought the conversation was over but at one point he was punched in the face.”
“He’s a quiet boy,” his mother said. “He doesn’t get into trouble.”
Police sources say he has been arrested several times before. He was charged with assault in Brooklyn last year, was accused of criminal impersonation in 2015 and was arrested on a robbery charge in 2014, the sources said.
The broken window and sign were repaired when the Stonewall Inn reopened on schedule at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
The bartender and manager on duty Saturday afternoon said they weren’t working when the incident happened.
The Stonewall Inn became famous in 1969, when a police raid sparked a melee between cops and gay patrons. The confrontation and ensuing riots sparked the movement to secure rights for gays and lesbians.
Former President Barack Obama declared the Stonewall Inn a national monument in 2016.
"Stonewall will be our first national monument to tell the story for the struggle for LGBT rights," Obama announced at the time.
A year earlier, the city gave the Stonewall Inn landmark status.
Ahmad Khan Rahami, the 28-year-old suspect wanted in connection with an explosion Saturday night in Manhattan, was arrested Monday in Linden, New Jersey, after a brief shootout.
Officials suspect Rahami is connected to an explosive device that detonated in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood this weekend, injuring 29 people. A second device, described as a pressure-cooker bomb, was found nearby.

Linden Mayor Derek Armstead told WABC that the owner of a Linden bar found someone sleeping in the hallway of his bar, and called police.
“One of our police officers went to investigate and to wake him up, and realized that he was [Rahami], the suspect that had been being sought in the bombings,” Armstead said. “He realized it was the suspect and, within moments, the suspect fired on him. And thank God that he had his vest on. And I think that was very helpful for him. I think that saved his life.”
After he shot the officer, Rahami proceeded to walk down the street firing a handgun, Linden Police Capt. James Sarnicki told CBS2.
“The gentleman got up and started walking down the street in a westerly direction,” Sarnicki said. “I’m told that he was randomly discharging his handgun and one of the officers was able to get close enough to him and return fire.”
Video from the scene Monday showed Rahami being loaded into an ambulance after the shootout.
Authorities also suspect Rahami may be connected to a small bomb that detonated along the route of a 5K race in a New Jersey beach town Saturday morning. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) said “there are similarities” in the devices found in New York and New Jersey.
“They are not identical, but there are certain similarities in the way the bombs were put together with certain elements, et cetera, suggesting that there might have been a common linkage or a common person behind all the bombs,” Cuomo told CNN.
Rahami’s last known address was in Elizabeth, New Jersey. An unidentified law enforcement official told NBC New York that a fingerprint on one of the unexploded devices helped identify him.
”He certainly seemed to do virtually nothing to cover his tracks,” the official said. The New York Times reported that surveillance video captured footage of Rahami planting the bombs in Manhattan.
Prior to Rahami’s arrest, The New York Times reported that five people, all possibly from the same family, were questioned on Sunday in relation to the bombing. None of them were charged with a crime.
Authorities sent out a cell phone alert early Monday asking people to call 911 if they spotted Rahami.
All 29 injured in Saturday night’s blast have been released from the hospital. It’s not clear what motivated the attack.

An explosion rocked the bustling Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan on Saturday night, injuring at least 29 people, and authorities said they were investigating the blast as a criminal act not immediately linked to any terror organization.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and other city officials said investigators had ruled out a natural gas leak as the origin of the blast, but they stopped short of calling it a bombing and declined to specify precisely what they believed may have triggered the explosion.
Police said a sweep of the neighborhood following the blast turned up a possible "secondary device" a short distance away.
CNN, citing law enforcement sources, reported that it appeared to be a pressure cooker with wires attached to it and connected to what resembled a cell phone. A piece of paper with writing on it was found nearby, according to CNN's account.
Remaining circumspect about the exact nature of the actual explosion, De Blasio said early indications were that it was "an intentional act." He added that the site of the blast, outside on a major thoroughfare in the fashionable New York City district, was being treated as a crime scene.
"There is no evidence at this point of a terror connection," the mayor said at a news conference about three hours after the blast. He added, "There is no specific and credible threat against New York City at this point in time from any terror organization."
The mayor also said investigators did not believe there was any link to a pipe bomb that exploded earlier on Saturday in the New Jersey beach town of Seaside Park. No injuries were reported in that blast, in a plastic trash can along the route of a charity foot race. Authorities said they believed it to be a deliberate act.
But a U.S. official said that a Joint Terrorism Task Force, an interagency group of federal, state and local officials, was called to investigate the Chelsea blast, suggesting authorities have not ruled out the possibility of a terror connection.
A joint task force also took the lead in investigating the New Jersey incident.
A law enforcement source said an initial investigation suggested the Chelsea explosion occurred in a dumpster but the cause was still undetermined. CNN cited law enforcement sources as saying they believed an improvised explosive device caused the blast.

President Barack Obama, who was attending a congressional dinner in Washington, "has been apprised of the explosion in New York City, the cause of which remains under investigation," a White House official said. "The president will be updated as additional information becomes available," the official added.
New York City Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said 29 people were hurt in the blast, and 24 of them had been taken to area hospitals, including one person he described as seriously injured. The rest suffered various cuts, scrapes and other minor injuries from shattered glass and other debris, Nigro said.
The explosion, described by one neighbor as "deafening," happened outside the Associated Blind Housing facility at 135 W. 23rd Street. The facility provides housing, training and other services for the blind.

City ended when shots were fired at the popular venue last night (May 25)
during the rapper’s concert.
Fans waited for more than two hours
for T.I. to hit the stage, with PNB Rock performing three songs between time.
But a packed Irving Plaza descended into chaos as concertgoers fled to the
nearest exits after an unknown shooter began to fire his weapon repeatedly
backstage. Multiple rounds echoed throughout the venue as stampedes attempted
to flee the building. Unable to exit, many people found themselves trapped on
the floor with the shooter because it was too crowded to move.
Eventually, the gunshots ceased as
hundreds of fans made their way onto the street, flooding the Union Square
neighborhood. But another shot was heard from inside Irving Plaza. Ultimately
one man was left dead and three people wounded.
It’s not confirmed whether or not the
Atlanta rapper played any role in last night’s incidents, but an alleged member
of his entourage grabbed the mic during the chaos to let the crowd know,
“Someone done f—ed it up for everybody.” Fire trucks, several ambulance and
multiple marked and unmarked NYPD vehicles surround the venue and neighboring
blocks in minutes. The shooter seemingly escaped arrest; leaving the venue
before the police arrived. The NYPD proceeded to canvas lower Manhattan in an
effort to capture the gunman. Accoding to the New York Times, a spokesman for the NYPD said one of the Men arrived at New York University Medical Center on his own. The motives for the shooting is unclear and no arrests have been made as of Wednesday night.

Now that you have established this huge presence in social media, do you feel like you can’t make plans on Thursdays?
KW: Oh yes, I have no social life on a Thursday! Every Thursday within three weeks of my [daughter Isabelle’s] due date, I loaded up pre-tweets based on the episodes and what I would want to say.
Did you tweet while you were actually in labor?
I tweeted in the very early stages of my labor. I figured that if I went completely silent on social media, then people would know I was in the hospital!
In the online world, everyone can air their opinions. Do you ever feel people take Scandal too seriously?
[Some people] do get caught up. Bellamy Young [who plays Olivia’s nemesis, Mellie Grant] and I are really good friends and sometimes when people see us out together they get very confused. I take it as a compliment.
What do you think of Olivia Pope? Is there anything that you don’t like about her?
I love her. To me she’s like family, and with family, it doesn’t matter if you like them or not, you love them no matter what. I don’t always agree with her choices, but I have a lot of compassion for them.
What is the biggest difference between you and Olivia?
I do a lot of therapy! Not to say that I have it all together, but I think I have a little bit more awareness about my behavior patterns and I do the work it takes to get out of them.
Is your husband [former NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha] ‘Team Fitz’ or does he want Olivia to stand in the sun?
I have never asked my husband that, actually. But I would say that we are all ‘Team Shonda’. I really love that in the episode Where The Sun Don’t Shine, Olivia said, “I choose me.” That is a really powerful message.
How do you get into the ‘Olivia Pope’ mindset?
The biggest thing for me are the shoes. I’ll wear Uggs around set, but I can’t rehearse a scene in them because I don’t feel like Olivia until I put the shoes on. Shoes define how you walk in the world and how you stand, like: what is your posture in life?
What’s your favorite wine?
I don’t really drink.

I know. I drink Welch’s organic grape juice on the show.
If you weren’t an actress, what would you be doing? Do you think you would be in politics?
I would be involved in politics, but I would probably be teaching. It’s what my mother did, so it’s in my blood. My mother is so badass. I watched her get her doctorate when I was a little girl: she got that around the same time that I graduated from kindergarten so we both had caps and gowns. I grew up with a belief in the importance of a woman’s mind and that has been a real gift for me.
How do you hope Olivia Pope will be remembered?
I hope people remember her as a complicated, fully realized human being; she’s not a stereotype and she’s not an accessory. I think that it’s important for women to know, in film and in TV and in life, that you can be the lead of your own story. I hope she’s remembered for that, as somebody who is the driving force of her own life.

Mariah Carey sustained serious injuries while filming the remix music video for her single Beautiful in the summer of 2013.
And it seems the injury may have had lasting effects, as the 44-year-old was spotted wearing a sling as she grabbed lunch in Beverly Hills on Wednesday.
While the cause of the injury is unclear, the singer is likely being cautious as her upcoming Las Vegas residency is only about a month away.
Mariah sported a natural look, showing off her corkscrew curls as she made her to lunch in Beverly Hills.
She donned a chic, salmon-colored blazer, which she paired with a fitted black tank top and black skinny jeans.
She accessorized with a pair of strappy black heels and hid her eyes behind over-sized black sunglasses.
Lastly, the mother of two wore her right arm - on which she also appeared to be sporting a brace - in a sling during the outing.
Mariah has yet to comment on the sling, but it could be the result of an injury she incurred while falling on the set of the remix music video for Beautiful.

After the public has heard from Bobby Brown and Nick Gordon, Bobbi Kristina Brown’s grandmother Cissy Houston is breaking her silence regarding the status of her granddaughter.
Houston commented on Bobbi Kristina for the first time during an interview with New York radio station WBLS that was posted online Wednesday (March 25). Regarding Bobbi Kristina’s condition, Houston told the station that, “She’s the same.”
“They’ve moved her now to a place for rehabilitation and, you know, still not a great deal of hope.”
Houston’s comments mark the latest development to occur since Bobbi Kristina was placed in a medically induced coma days after she was rushed to the hospital after being face-down and unresponsive in her bathtub at her Roswell, Georgia home on Jan. 31.
Bobbi Kristina, who is attached to a ventilator has since undergone a tracheotomy. Although doctors started the process of bringing her out of her coma, they stopped after Bobbi Kristina began suffering seizures. Last week, she was moved from Emory University Hospital to a rehab facility.
During her WBLS interview, Cissy also revealed she’s finally at peace with whatever happens. The situation is in God’s hands.
“If He works a miracle, thank God. And if it happens the other way, I’m alright.”
New York City's East Village catches fire after a MASSIVE EXPLOSION!
At least 12 people have been injured - three critically - after a five-story building collapsed and surrounding structures caught alight following an explosion in New York City's East Village on Thursday afternoon.
Flames ravaged buildings on Second Avenue and 7th Street following the explosion at 3.15pm - about an hour after Con Edison workers had been at the building to look into upgrading the gas service.
The site of the blast, 121 Second Avenue, caught alight, while its neighboring building, 123 Second Avenue, completely collapsed - leaving a massive hole on the block. A fire is also raging at 119 Second Avenue and thick gray smoke continues to billow across the sky, while debris can be seen strewn in the street.
Ninety minutes after the explosion, WABC reported that 12 people were injured, including three critically, while two have been taken to the burns unit at New York-Presbyterian Hospital Cornell. The majority of those injured were hurt at the moment of explosion, authorities said.
All of the injured victims are civilians. More people could still be trapped inside the burning buildings but Major Bill de Blasio said at a press conference that no one had been reported missing, although investigations are underway. Cadaver dogs are waiting on the scene, NYC scanner reported.
Around 2pm, Con Edison workers had been working on meters inside the building but there were no reports of a gas leak before the incident, Mayor de Blasio said. Con Edison announced just before 5pm that it was shutting gas down in the area of Second Avenue.
As many as 175 firefighters responded to the seven-alarm blaze, while multiple ambulances and a K9 unit were also been sent to respond to the incident. Roads have been shut down between Houston Street and 14th Street.
The buildings are mixed occupancy. 121 Second Avenue houses a sushi restaurant and between four and five residences, according to property records, while 123 Second Avenue is a Belgian frites restaurant beneath three residences.
The FDNY received the first call about the explosion at 3.15pm.
'Just heard an explosion and my entire building shook!!' Twitter user Tosha Ryan wrote at 3.24pm.
An eyewitness told DailyMail.com that a woman who was next to the building at the time of the explosion had suffered cuts across her face and that the smoke is so thick it is difficult to breathe in the streets and visibility is so poor that it is hard to see anything but lights.
Authorities are pushing passersby off the streets, he added.
A witness named Pablo, who was in a restaurant across the street when the explosion happened, told Fox5 there were Con Edison workers working in the area earlier in the day between 12.30pm and 1pm.
Pablo says locals he talked to after the explosion said they could smell gas even after the workers left earlier in the day.
etired FDNY deputy chief Vincent Dunn told WABC that he was surprised the building collapsed, due to the design of the 100-year-old tenement buildings in the area. Dunn compared these buildings to a 'lumber yard enclosed by brick'.
He says it will take several days to sift through the rubble at the scene of the fire, as happened last year when a gas explosion flattened an apattment building in East Harlem.
'Fortunately, this was a day time fire so most of the people were out working, so hopefully there will be limited vicitms,' Dunn said.
Those with family and friends in area have taken to Twitter with worries for their loved ones.
'Freaking out about NYC. My friend lives on that block. He's not replying to me,' one Twitter user wrote shortly before 4pm.
'It was this slow rumble and then bricks tumbled into the street,' a WABC reporter said of the moment the building collapsed.
The NYPD is asking anyone who knows residents in the building to call 311 so they can account for who is accounted for and who is missing.
The neighborhood is also home to many NYU students, including a dorm down the street at 40 E 7th Street. A Business Insider reporter tweeted that NYU police were walking around the streets, looking for students after the dorm was evacuated this afternoon.

Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill To Be Added To Library Of Congress
It’s been nearly 20 years since Lauryn Hill released her critically acclaimed, Grammy-winning solo debut The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. That very album has been selected to enter the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, a spot saved for culturally and historically significant work.
Variety.com reports that L-Boogie’s crown jewel is among the 2014 selections, which includes Radiohead’s 1997 album OK Computer, The Righteous Brothers’ “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’,” and Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me.”
The official press release says this about Hill’s being selected:

Devon Still’s Daughter Cancer STILL is In Remission
Good news for anyone who has been following Cincinnati Bengals star Devon Still’s daughter’s battle with cancer or believers in humanity in general.
Still took to his Instagram account yesterday to give fans an update and retrospective on the best and worst days of his life.
“June 2, 2014 and March 25, 2015 are days I will remember for the rest of my life,” he began. “As everyone probably knows, June 2nd was the day doctors walked into the waiting room to tell me my daughter had cancer. It was the most devastating day of my life,” the defensive tackle wrote Wednesday.
“March 25th, however, is feeling like the best day of my life. Today we received news from Leah’s oncologist that her cancer, stage four neuroblastoma, is officially in REMISSION! After 296 days of day dreaming about what it would feel like to hear the doctors say my daughter is in remission, I finally know the feeling. Funny thing is there is really no way of describing it because I never knew this feeling existed. When I look at my daughter all I can do is smile and hug her. It was not easy but every day, and every treatment Leah fought like hell and kicked cancers butt! I’m so proud and blessed to call her my daughter.”

Kevin Hart and his celeb friends came out to celebrate the Get Hard premiere in Hollywood. Kevin had his fiance Eniko Parrish right by his side for his big premiere of his and Will Ferrell's new comedy Get Hard. The couple rolled to the TCL Chinese Theatre IMAX Wednesday and looked happily in love..with each other AND all this success.
