“Being Mary Jane” star Gabrielle Union is on 1 of 3 covers for REDBOOK magazine’s October 2015 issue.
Inside, the 42-year-old actress opens up about her struggle to have kids later in life (with the help of IVF treatments) after choosing to work on her career over having children earlier in life.
While she has found box office and primetime television success, unfortunately, she’s having a hard time conceiving. But, she’s handling the issue in stride and realizes what’s meant for her will come, if it’s meant to be.
The With This Ring starlet also dished on what it’s like to be married to a much younger man, her 33-year-old husband Dwyane Wade, and the hardships working women go through once they decide to expand their families.
Below are the highlights:
On IVF and the pressures of trying for a family later in life... "So far, it has not happened for us. A lot of my friends deal with this. There's a certain amount of shame that is placed on women who have perhaps chosen a career over starting a family younger. The penance for being a career woman is barrenness. You feel like you're wearing a scarlet letter."
On the weird thing about being married to a younger man... "I realized his friends, his teammates, were conceived when I was, like, a senior in high school. I was in high school at the same time as their parents! Sometimes he'll be like, 'Oh, my God, he's so old!' about someone who's 35. But, Dwyane's an old 33, and I'm a young 42, so it balances out."
On how hard it is for working women with children... "The reality is that women are discriminated against in the workplace for being mothers. As much as there are strides being made – you get pregnant, your career takes a hit. You can't have a bad day. Don't you dare cry at work. Don't raise your voice. Especially if you're a black woman in corporate America—now you're 'the angry black woman.'"

Trey Songz Gets Called Out For Being A “B*tch N*gga”
Trey Songz is getting slammed on social media for being a “b*tch n*gga.”
Rapper D. Flores called out the R&B singer on Instagram Monday morning following an alleged incident that went down at the Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
According to the rapper, Songz was upset that his girlfriend, Tanaya Henry, was hanging out in Flores’ condo. Per the Glo Gang rapper, an angry Trey called him via FaceTime and suggested the “Keep It 100” artist come to the Caesars Palace to hash it out. But when Flores and his crew arrived, Trey apparently didn’t answer the phone.
D. Flores posted a photo of he and his boys in front of the famous hotel, with arms crossed as if they were waiting for Trey to come out. Here’s how the rapper told the story:
“WHERE YOU AT NI**A !! MAD CAUSE YOUR B*TCH CHILLIN IN MY BED AND YOU TALK HARD ON FACETIME TALKING ABOUT COME TO Caesar’s Palace ni**a you ain’t picking up the phone no more what up ? Everybody tag this fa**ot and tell him to pick up the phone now with this scary a$$.”
Flores’ friend, rapper D.2.C.E also cosigned the story on Instagram, writing:
“Today @treysongz felt like face timing my brother @citystar_dflores with the f*ckery talking bout pull up he at Ceaser Palace. So what we do? pulled up at Ceaser Palace. The b*tch ni**a told us what floor he was on but once we got there he decided not to pick up the phone and tell us which room number… All this was over his b*tch laid up in the condo half a$$ naked ni**a get out yo feelings. You suppose to have bitches ni**a you a rnb singer. This picture was shot right outside of ceaser palace to.”

As we wait for the season 2 of "Empire" to begin on September 23rd, the stars are on the scene promoting their hearts out. In addition to a huge red carpet premiere event recently, we spotted stars Bryshere “Yazz” Gray And Ta'Rhonda Jones sipping cocktails in the club house with Andy Cohen last night. While Yazz was the featured celeb guest, alongside actress Mindy Kaling, Ta'Rhonda showed off her bartending skills.
By the way, Ta'Rhonda designed her outfit for the recent "Empire" premiere party, and that makes us wonder if she had a hand in making this one as well. She loves wearing white....
During the show, we learned a few tidbits about Yazz. If you want to know what turns him on about women, he says he's most interested in intelligent chicks.
He's also rooting for his character Hakeem Lyon to take over the "Empire" next year....but he didn't spill any tidbits.

Chris Brown says I’m Not Homophobic while having a Homophobic RANT!
Chris Brown posted a lengthy message on Instagram slamming reports yet again that he was a no show at a gay pride event in Atlanta last weekend.
The singer posted a screen shot of a new TMZ report titled “Chris Brown Settles Beef … Over Gay Pride Gig” and went on to not only claim that he was never booked, but he calls out TMZ’s head honcho, Harvey, for nor focusing on “real issues.”
“Yall gotta stop with this bullsh*t. I was never booked. Yall love to say I’m homophobic and shit to have something to be mad at. I don’t care that you are gay Harvey. I applaud you and a person of your caliber should be finding outlets for young gay men/teens and women to be more open and comfortable about coming out,” he wrote.
Breezy continued, “Some of my friends have came out to me and I love them just the same. It would really be a blessing if u focused on real issues. But all these false stories to bring your site traffic is corny. But find another person to drag through the mud of lies. I know I’m talented but I’m not running for president any time soon so fall back wit all the nonsense.”
According to TMZ, Breezy was set to attend the September 7 event in the ATL, but the details about the appearance were never confirmed to the singer. The news outlet claims that the entire mix up with the event promoters was eventually settled and all Brown had to do was pay $12,500.

Tina Knowles Lawson-Hospitalized Asthma Attack-the jasmine brand
Over the weekend, Beyonce and Solange Knowles’ mother Tina Lawson was hospitalized. According to her Instagram, while in Atlanta with her husband she had a surprise asthma attack, which sent her to the hospital. Ms. Tina snapped a photo from the hospital room, with the caption:
I came to Atlanta with my hubby for an award show. I had an Asthma attack and wound up in a hospital here. Hope to be out tomorrow! ! Pray for me!
She updated fans on social media that she had been released from the hospital.
Wendy Williams Reveals Her Son Was Addicted to Synthetic Marijuana
On Monday (September 14th), the Wendy Williams Show returned for season 7. During the ‘Hot Topics’ segment, Wendy revealed some personal information about her family. Wendy shared that while on break, she and her husband discovered that their son (Kevin Jr.) had been using synthetic marijuana.
Wendy went on to say that their son was addicted and she was unaware, although she considers herself an active parent. She believes that her son was introduced to the drug by someone that is very close to their family. She shared that her son was actually taken to drug treatment outside of the country and is now clean.
Evelyn Lozada, Shanice & Flex Alexander, Shaniece Hairston Attend Oprah’s ‘Super Soul Sessions’ In Los Angeles
Oprah‘s Super Soul Sessions – “a new platform of spiritual talks from thought-leaders, change-makers, and wisdom-teachers,” which stems from her inspirational, multi-award-winning series Super Soul Sunday – was held on Saturday at UCLA in Los Angeles.
The day-long event featured speakers, Iyanla Vanzant, Janet Mock, Tim Storey and more.
Evelyn Lozada and her daughter Shaniece Hairston, who star alongside one another in their OWN reality series, Livin’ Lozada, were in attendance, as well as Gammy-nominated singer, Shanice, and her husband Flex Alexander.
As the three of them posed for a pic (directly above), Evelyn shared that her daughter, Shaniece’s, name came from the singer: “I named my daughter after her. #TrueStory,” she wrote. The ladies were also snapped in pics with Oprah herself, and speakers from the event.

Common Blasts Media For Donald Trump Coverage
"I feel like the integrity of the media is gone," Common says.
Common appeared on HuffPost Live today (September 14) and addressed the media's coverage of presidential candidate Donald Trump.
"I feel like the integrity of the media is gone in many areas because when you choose to just be like, 'Ok, we're gonna show this Donald Trump because we know it's about numbers,'" the Chicago rapper says. "It's about numbers. It's like where is the integrity of the journalists who know and will challenge these thoughts so that the American people can see truth and really have a good opportunity to get behind someone who's going to matter, who's going to really be about affecting change and improving this country."
Common says that he doesn't care so much if people support a specific candidate as much as making sure the media is fair and honest in its coverage of the presidential race.
"If it so happened to be a Donald Trump, which I don't believe it's that person, then let the people decide that," he says. "But don't just like dwell on the spotlight and just keep exploiting the popularity of 'em just for numbers because eventually that's just gonna mess up the situation in the country if we do."
Donald Trump has been criticized by many Latino groups for his comments about Mexican immigrants.
"When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best," he said at an event in June. "They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists."
