#RIO2016 TEAM USA Relay Women Get The GOLD!

Team USA Track & Field has been racking up medals left and right, and even still they continued.

After a tumultuous road to get to the medal round, the 4x100 team qualified on time during a re-run after appealing their preliminary loss.  One botched handover wasn't stopping this show! Brazil was DQ'd for impeding them, and the ladies went on to win gold.

Allyson Felix, English Gardner, Tianna Bartoletta and Tori Bowie celebrated the much deserved win last night.  They beat out Jamaica (silver) and Great Britain (bronze):

R.H.o.A: Does Porsha Williams Have A New Man? She’s Hinting At It On Social Media!

It has been a while since we have seen Porsha Williams with a man on Real Housewives of Atlanta, but it looks like that’s about to change. Which is not at all surprising since the show is filming right now, so it’s the perfect time to go public with a new relationship.

We first saw a glimpse of this mystery man at Porsha’s birthday party, but sadly, there’s still no information on him yet. He is not tagged in the pics, and I actually have no life, so I went through all of Porsha‘s comments on the Instagram post looking for a name drop or some other clue. I also went through her Twitter and nothing stood out to me.

Porsha knows what she’s doing though. These mysterious Instagram posts will build up some hype – I mean, obviously. I am writing this post after all. In due time, we will see more social media posts, an interview about her love life, and at the very least Porsha will open up about this possible new relationship on the upcoming Real Housewives of Atlanta season. I’m sure of that.

New Empire trailer reveals your first look at teenage Lucious & Cookie

Empire is about to show viewers how its royal couple, Lucious (Terrence Howard) and Cookie (Taraji P. Henson), first met. As shown in this trailer, season 3 of the Fox hit will flash back to show the pair as teenagers and the beginnings of their epic, on-again, off-again romance.

In the clip, Cookie tells Lucious, “When I first saw you rap, it changed my life.” Viewers then get to see their first glimpse of teenage Lucious (Jeremy Carver) and Cookie (Ajiona Alexus).

Also heavily teased is the arrival of Lucious’ half-brother Tariq (Morocco Omari), who was introduced in the season 2 finale and seems hell-bent on bringing down the Lyon patriarch in season 3.

Empire premieres Sept. 21 at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.

New Music Video from D∆WN ‘Cali Sun’

D∆WN sets the screen ablaze in her new video for “Cali Sun.”

Teaming up with Rob Coin, the singer unleashes an animated “visualizer” for the uptempo cut, one that moves and bounces with the song’s every hypnotic shift. Premiering today via Rolling Stone, the vid allows D∆WN to get back to one of her first passions.

“I’m excited to go back to animation,” she said. “I started in animation with my own comics and drawing, and even the Danity Kane name came from a character I created in high school.”

As an independent artist, the former Danity Kane member has faced many challenges. “I’m doing this shit on my own, with no power of a name,” she explained. “Being indie means you hit a ceiling. You won’t get invited to the VMAs or the Grammys. I love that Chance the Rapper is breaking that mold, but as a black female artist doing the sound that I’m doing, you have to fight that much harder.”

D∆WN has been on a hot streak with innovative visuals of late. In June, she released the virtual reality and 2D versions of “Not Above That” and the fashion film for “Wake Up.” Before that, she launched YouTube’s first live 360-degree performance.

HIP HOP NEWS: A Tribe Called Quest Readies New Album

Can they kick it once again? A Tribe Called Quest is getting ready to drop a brand new album, according to L.A. Reid.

During an interview with the Rap Radar podcast, the Epic Records CEO confirmed that the album was completed before Phife Dawg’s death in March.

“I’m really happy about it,” he said. “It’s really something special. It’s one of the things I’m most excited about over everything we’re working on.”

Reid reassured fans that the entire group would be together for the new material. “Phife is there,” he added. “The whole group: Jarobi, the entire group, everybody. It’s great too.”

Expected to arrive “very soon,” the LP would be the group’s first studio album since 1998’s The Love Movement. Since then, Tribe has disbanded, and reunited several times. Their ups and downs were later chronicled in the 2011 documentary Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest.

Lou Pearlman Dies: Disgraced Boy Band Impresario Behind NSYNC & Backstreet Boys Was 62

Lou Pearlman, a convicted Ponzi scheme operator who became famous in the 1990s as the record company owner and manager behind a string of top-selling pop groups including Backstreet Boys and NSYNC, died Friday from undisclosed causes while in prison. He was 62.

From Flushing, NY, Pearlman began his adult life working in aviation, attempting in the late 1970s to launch an air taxi business using helicopters and, later, a similar business using airships. By the early ’90s he was a millionaire owing largely to a talent for fraud, and turned his attention to music. Pearlman founded his own record label, Trans Continental Records, with the goal of copying the boy band model pioneered by New Kids On The Block producer Maurice Starr, and struck gold with his first band, Backstreet Boys. Following in their success, Pearlman and his associates repeated the process step by step with the almost equally successful NSYNC.

He would go on to sign pop groups like reality TV project O-Town, Take 5, Natural and US5, the girl group Innosense, and solo artists like Aaron Carter, Jordan Knight, Smilez & Southstar and C-Note.

Pearlman enjoyed huge success with his artists, but with the exception of US5 ended up being sued by all of them for misrepresentation and fraud. For example, he and his label made millions from the Backstreet Boys, while the group itself made only $300,000. Pearlman either lost every case or was forced to settle out of court. He eventually left music production and moved into talent representation, but the company he formed went out of business after multiple accusations of fraud.

Pearlman’s fall came in 2006, when it was discovered that he had for nearly 20 years ran a complex Ponzi scheme, drawing investors for companies that existed on paper only. When Florida state regulators seized his companies and brought charges against him, Pearlman fled the country. He was caught in Indonesia in June 2007 and, after being returned to the U.S., was sentenced in 2008 to 25 years in prison without the possibility of release until 2029

Trayvon Martin’s Parents are working on a Film!

Trayvon Martin‘s mother and father, as well as the family’s lawyer, are working on a new film, according to Radar Online. This summer, the trio began to secretly film scenes this summer in Buffalo, for a new movie called Marshall, directed by Reginald Hudlin. The site reports:

"The film takes place in 1940, when a young NAACP lawyer named Thurgood Marshall (Chadwick Boseman) travels to Connecticut to defend a black chauffeur (Sterling K. Brown) wrongly accused of raping a beautiful socialite (Kate Hudson). Josh Gad, of The Book of Mormon fame, plays the lead lawyer on the case. According to insiders, the Martins play a fictitious family that Hudlin cooked up as a PR hook when the film comes out. “People who don’t know who Thurgood Marshall was will hear their names promoting the film,” a source told Radar exclusively. “It’s a good idea and a way to make it current.”"

Jazze Pha Neglects Bankruptcy, Owes $625k

OOOPS Jazzy Pha has issues. According to our friends over at theJasmineBRAND.com, Jazze Pha blew off his Chapter 13 bankruptcy for months – which he filed earlier this year claiming he only had $60 in cash on hand and over $625k owed to creditors – and now a Federal Court judge has thrown out the entire case. Unfortunately, this leaves the music producer on the hook for his massive debt without the court’s protection.

Here’s the latest: On August 18th, the Federal Court judge came back and sided with the trustee by throwing out the case and officially dismissing the Chapter 13 the same day. The dismissal of the bankruptcy leaves the music producer on the hook for his $625k+ debt, without the protection of the court. This means his creditors could begin the process of collecting on the money owed to them by seizing assets and property from the hit maker.

Here’s the backstory: On April 28th, Jazze (real name Phalon Alexander) filed for bankruptcy in Georgia.

According to the court documents, the music producer – who runs his company Futureristic Entertainment – has less than $590k in assets and over $625k owed in liabilities to creditors.

The producer said his gross income for this year came out to $30k and last year he only made $65k from his business. His monthly income is listed as zero, but his company racks in $14k per month.

His assets were listed as $3k in his bank account, $60 in cash on hand, his 2 music companies are worth $1k each, the producer is owed $10k in royalties, his Georgia home along with along with a 2010 & 2015 Cadillac Escalade, $30k in household goods, $1k in electronics, $1k in clothing & $1k in jewelry.

The liabilities listed included $64k owed on the 2015 Cadillac and close to $8k on the 2010 vehicle, $252k in back taxes to the IRS, $1,100 related to his Georgia property, $310k to SunTrust Mortgage over his home, along with additional debt to Uncle Sam (amount to be determined), $1,500 to Chase for a credit card.

Jazze said he spends over $2,600 every month for his home, $1,400 on tax escrow, $650 on entertainment costs, $600 on food and various other expenses for a total of $7,741 in monthly bills –which deducted from his monthly income leaves him with a total of $6,259 a month.

The music producer has made numerous hits for everyone including Nate Dogg, T.I. Young Joc, Young Jeezy, Toni Braxton, Lil Jon, Ludacris and many others — but those royalty checks don’t seem to be helping him pay off the debt that he’s accrued.

Recently, the trustee presiding over the bankruptcy went to court demanding Jazze’s entire case be thrown out due to the music producer blowing off the court’s order.

The trustee explained that the producer failed to attend a court hearing, never provided his 2015 Tax Return documents, failed to provide evidence showing he paid his monthly support obligations or his mortgage since he filed for Chapter 13. They stated that he also refued to provide proof of monthly expenses he claimed for transportation and home maintenance.

Further, he was also accused of trying to claim an exemption of $10k from his music royalties, despite owing massive amounts to creditors in the case. The trustee demanded Jazze’s entire bankruptcy be dismissed for him blowing off the courts order.

Zendaya’s ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Role

Zendaya will be playing long-time Spider-Man love interest Mary Jane Watson in next summer’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” two individuals with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Diehard Spidey fans have long speculated about whom the 19-year-old Disney Channel star would portray in Sony’s high-profile reboot of the superhero franchise, starring British actor Tom Holland as a teenage Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man.

At least one recent draft of the script has Zendaya’s character dropping several clues to her identity as Mary Jane, one of the most familiar love interests in the Marvel superhero’s universe — and played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi‘s 2002-07 movie trilogy starring Tobey Maguire as the webslinger.

Zendaya, the star of the Disney Channel series “Shake It Up!” and “K.C. Undercover,” was cast back in March to play a “key role” as a character named Michelle.

At the time, no further details were provided about her character or whether it would the romantic lead opposite Holland — who made a sensational big-screen debut as Spidey earlier this year in Disney/Marvel’s “Captain America: Civil War.”

Given how secretive superhero movie castings can sometimes be, pseudonyms are often used. Marion Cotillard‘s role in “The Dark Knight Rises” comes to mind.

Sony declined to comment. Representatives for Marvel and Zendaya did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.

Sony and Marvel have made it clear that director Jon Watts’ reboot — with a script by Jonathan Goldstein & John Francis Daley and Jon Watts & Christopher Ford and Chris McKenna & Erik Sommers — will focus on a high school-aged Peter Parker.

The cast also includes Michael Keaton, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, Marisa Tomei and Robert Downey Jr.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming,” produced by Produced by Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige, will be released on July 7, 2017.

Warriors remain VICTORIOUS! Beat OKC..Now heads to championship against Cleveland!

OAKLAND CA- It was nervy before it was brilliant, before the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry poured 36 points into the 96-88 culmination of an incredible comeback from down 3-1 in the Western Conference finals, just the 10th team to achieve the feat. On Monday night, the Warriors completed their crawl from the grave, while simultaneously snagging a second straight ticket to the Finals. After starting Andre Iguodala for the first time all season, the Warriors closed the Oklahoma City Thunder out.

When asked whether he gets classic pregame butterflies in his stomach, Klay Thompson told ESPN.com, “No.” Then a pause, followed by an admission.

“OK, for a game like this, a little bit.”
For a game like this, is unlike any other game. “Game 7,” the two best words as the saying goes, can actually produce some hideous basketball because it is unique. The extreme variance of Game 7 can express itself as rushed jumpers, held passes and general stagnation.

True to that framework, Golden State had a jittery beginning as Oklahoma City locked down defensively. A general anxiety seemed to restrict the offensive flow.

The Thunder are, in some ways, well positioned for such a game -- they’re the best offensive rebounding team in basketball. So Oklahoma City's misses are more easily converted into something productive. When Golden State shots go begging, the team receives little in the way of charity. After the first quarter, the Thunder had outscored the Warriors 6-1 on second-chance points.

But Thompson, as he’s often done this playoffs, provided his team with some necessary airspace. He banged home four second-quarter 3-pointers, the first of which brought the crowd relief as much as a jolt. Golden State was teetering, threatening to fall down big in the second stanza yet again. Instead, the Warriors managed to close the half down 48-42, well within striking distance at home. Curry finished the half with a sprinting floater high off the glass that teased physics.

And then, the deluge.

Perhaps the butterflies flew away as Golden State stomped Oklahoma City in the third quarter, 29-12. It started with three consecutive possessions with a 3-pointer (Curry, Thompson, and Iguodala). That, combined with some hounding defense, helped unlock the dam as the offense gained a flow so free that Anderson Varejao looked off Curry and scored on a dribble drive. Some of the shots were suboptimal, but no matter: They went in. And that’s how the Warriors often win. Their bad shots are better than yours.

From there, Oklahoma City fought, and briefly made a game of it late in the fourth quarter when Kevin Durant brought its deficit from 11 to 4 in three possessions. That brief scare was averted when Serge Ibaka, who’d been grabbing Curry for much of the game, finally knocked him in view of a referee.

Three free throws brought the Warriors a measure of relief, but it wasn’t the exclamation. That came when, with under 30 seconds and the score 93-86, Curry wrapped the ball around his back, lost Andre Roberson and capped off the adventure with a 3-pointer.

And with that, it was done. Curry had found his MVP form again, the Warriors had found themselves again, and again Golden State is back in the Finals. There are more butterflies on deck, waiting to take flight.

#EMPIRE: FOR THE LAST TIME, Jamal will NOT leave the show!

He's coming back!

Despite what you’re hearing from BET.com who has a new ‘Alleged’ word on the grapevine suggested that Jamal Lyon may not be involved in Empire Season 3. Fortunately, Ilene Chaiken has put that rumor firmly to bed

Fans of Empire were really NOT OKAY with Jamal being the gun shot victim... That one solitary week between Episode 17 and Season 2's finale felt like an eternity - all we wanted to know was that our darling Jamal was safe. Fortunately, "Past Is Prologue" pictured the middle Lyon cub recovering from his injuries - panic over. Or so we thought... Ever since Season 2 drew to a close, debate has been rife on social media as to whether or not Jussie Smollett's character will be around in Season 3. Seemingly fed-up with the unnecessary chatter, Empire EP, Ilene Chaiken, has been quick to quash any such speculation. Speaking to TV Line, Chaiken shared: "It's the same damn cycle, all the time. Season 3 will be about really examining the journey of Jamal's recovery. In the finale, he comes out of the hospital after being shot, but he's clearly not recovered physically, and certainly not psychologically."

Not buddies any more...

Chaiken confirmed that Jamal will "continue to dig in his heels" about his family ending their backstabbing, violent ways: "The question now is, can Jamal also bring his brothers and his mother along with him on this stance, and say 'This is no longer how we have to go about our lives and our business?'" From where we're standing, Ilene, no he probably can't... But who doesn't love a good challenge, eh? When all's said and done, the most important take-away from this interview is that Jamal definitely WILL be involved in Season 3, and arguably more-so than ever before! There will also be a return for Mal's 'close friend', Miss Freda Gatz. According to Chaiken: "She's part of our story. It's not over. Jamal understands she's a victim, but he still has to deal with the fact that she shot him." Watch this space, folks - there's way more to come here... Did you expect Jamal to return?

Hip Hop News: Troy Ave’s Court Date Has Been PUSHED BACK!

The rapper is still recuperating from shooting himself.

Maggie Heckstall, one of the victims of the shooting that happened at a T.I. concert last week in New York City, isn’t pleased with how police have been treating her. 

Heckstall was the fourth victim in the shooting and was hit in the knee during the chaotic scene. As reported, the bullet lodged in her leg cannot be removed because it’s too close to vital nerves and police aren’t happy about it. They were hoping they could retrieve the bullet as evidence to build a stronger case.

During an interview with the New York Post, Heckstall said that police have been treating her like a criminal and not a victim from the beginning, such as hounding her for information while her wounds were being treated in the ambulance ride to the hospital. She is planning on suing the NYPD for harrassment. 

“Anytime anyone would walk to my door, they had six officers out here, staring into my room,” she says. “I cooperated with the officers. I don’t know if they wanted me to tell them more, but I don’t know what happened. Shots went off. Lights went off. I just tried to get out the room.”

According to NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce, the shells recovered at the scene have been tested but they are still awaiting results. 

“I will say that shell casing you saw that was fired is in line with other shell casings recovered inside the VIP room,” Detective Boyce said. He also alluded that there could be a possibility of another shooter, but details have yet to surface regarding that.

Troy Ave was supposed to appear in court on May 29th, but his court date has been pushed back to later this upcoming week while he recovers from shooting himself in the leg during the incident.

While he is currently being charged with attempted murder, there is a good possibility the charges will be upgraded to murder.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND: ATL Was LIT With Parties Hosted By K. Michelle, Kandi Burruss, Rasheeda & More!

It’s Memorial Day Weekend and the folks are partying it up in celebration.

“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” star K. Michelle made her return to the ATL after announcing she would be returning to the reality series where she was first introduced to the world. Since then, she has been hitting the party scene for some fun.

K rolled up to Kapture to host a Memorial Day celebration and to hit the stage for her fans.

Inside, the R&B songstress snapped tons of pics with her fans!

Recently, K revealed she will not be returning to "LAHH: ATL" after this season. You'll recall, she told Wendy Williams she decided to come back because of the check. Well, a fan asked K on IG if she would return for another season and she responded, "Never going back again. No amount of money in the world!"

Elsewhere  Friday night, Kandi Burruss Tucker and Rasheeda, who celebrated a birthday recently, stepped out for a girls’ night out on the town. The longtime friends helped kick off the Memorial Day Weekend at Prive nightclub.

In the music industry, producers and songwriters tend to be the ones that eat off of their success the longest.

After all, royalties can make life quite comfortable years and years down the line. Just look at how Kandi Burruss has managed to live a life of comfort and luxury off of her royalties from songs like “Bills Bills Bills,” “No Scrubs” and NSYNC’s “It Makes Me Ill.”

Jazze Pha was supposed to be set for life. The Atlanta-based producer’s list of hits includes Ciara’s “1,2 Step” and “Get Up,” along with many other notable artists in Atlanta including Usher, Bow Wow and T.I.

But Jazze’s big spending ways caught up with him because according to court documents that the Jasmine Brand pulled, Jazze Pha is BROKE, y’all.

Keke Palmer Says She Will Not Be Replacing Tamar Braxton On ‘The Real’

Since Tamar Braxton‘s exit from The Real was announced, viewers have been wondering who may be replacing her. A source recently told Bossip that Keke Palmer is on the show’s radar as a possible replacement – but the Scream Queens star responded to reports, saying she won’t be joining The Real, but will be returning with her talk show.

Keke became the youngest talk show host in TV history when her BET talk show, Just Keke, premiered in 2014.

And Dwayne Johnson showed that even his baby daughter is a fan of his incredible physique, as he flexed his muscles while posing with five-month-old Jasmine - explaining that she was a fan of his tattoos.

The sweet family picture came as the actor revealed he was thrashing out the final details for his next movie, a passion project based on comicbook hero Doc Savage.

As usual, the 44-year-old superstar shared all the details in long captions next to Instagram snaps.

Dwayne posted the adorable photo of Jasmine checking out the tattoos on his shoulder and back.

He explained: 'After we feed her, Jasmine just loves looking at daddy's tattoos. I think it helps her digest.  

'Can't wait to one day explain to her what all this means. Chat about her cultures (Samoan, Armenian, African American and Italian). 

'And while these symbols may appear to be primitive, unsophisticated and crude - they're extremely sacred, thousands of years old and very powerful. My mana (strength).  

'Ironically enough the symbol she's fixated on is our ATUA (our God) protected by the small building blocks of my life and then by shark teeth. 

'Yuuuuup, we gonna have some good daddy/daughter chats. Until then she'll continue to use daddy's tattoos as a place to scratch, drool and spit up.'

On Monday, the Fast & Furious 8 star was all business as he revealed Doc Savage is a go.
