Oscars 2021:Regina King in Louis Vuitton HOT OR Not?

As she’s proven many times over, Regina King is an exceptional entertainer and personality who has a pretty much flawless red carpet record when it comes to awards shows. In retrospect, we probably shouldn’t have been surprised that she’d show up in what we’d consider one of the greatest Oscars gowns of all time. Seriously. Bearing 62,000 sequins and 8,400 crystals, representing 140 hours of work by the Louis Vuitton atelier, this absolute stunner of a gown is hands-down the best dress of the night. She looks amazing.

She’s been sporting some fairly elaborate hairstyles all throughout awards season, but it was a really smart choice by her team to keep the coif as simple as possible. Her face is exquisitely framed by the hairstyle and the butterfly wing shoulder treatment.

So is she Hot or Not?

#RHOA: Kenya Moore Confronted on RHOA Reunion for Native American Costume BY Porsha and the cast!

She and Porsha got into it after Williams said Moore always asks for forgiveness and understanding, but never gives it herself.

Kenya Moore's controversial Halloween costume was one of the hot topics of the night during Part One of the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" reunion on Sunday.

During the first hour, host Andy Cohen noted that Bravo even had to issue an apology after Moore wore a look she referred to a "warrior princess", but the network labeled "Native American." On the show, she wore a feathered headdress and tan, fringe dress and was called out by some of her costars in their confessionals.

"I received a lot of vitriol and I remember defending myself saying it's part of my heritage, so I didn't understand all of the anger and where was it coming from," Moore said during the reunion.

When Cohen asked her to elaborate on her heritage claim, she said her family was from West Virginia and she has aunts "who have lived on reservations."

She also said she spoke with the Indigenous group IllumiNative to get a better understanding as to why her look was so disrespectful.

"They explained to me why it was so upsetting to specific Native Americans. It's offensive because it's not supposed to be a costume. Customs are not costumes," she explained. "I thought I was honoring something beautiful that was full of strength and it wasn't because for them, even feathers, all of those things, are sacred to them. It's spiritual to them."

"They feel underrepresented, they feel made fun of and they don't want people to not take them seriously," she added. "When people wear costumes like that, it makes them feel like they're being mocked."

She went on to say the outfit was "such a bad mistake on my part," adding that, "if I have this heritage, I should have known better."

While Porsha Williams was happy to see her owning up to her mistakes, she also called out Kenya for not extending the same grace to her costars -- herself included -- when they have similar controversies.

"I find it interesting that you always want the understanding, you always want the forgiveness immediately but you never extend it to anyone else," she said. "When we started the season, I remember seeing the interview where you said, 'She doesn't know anything about the Underground Railroad.'"

Back in 2013, Williams expressed on the show that she thought the Underground Railroad was an actual train. She went on to apologize for her ignorance on "Watch What Happens Live" at the time and felt it was rude of Kenya to bring it up again years later.

"The same way you're coming today -- which I'm proud of you for educating yourself, because you recognize very ignorant, very hurtful to that culture -- is the same way that I knew it was terribly irresponsible for me to have done that," said Williams. "Yet, here we are years later and you're using the Underground Railroad to shame me and what I'm doing for Black Lives Matter."

Kenya said she was in no way shaming Porsha's BLM activism with the comments and then shifted the conversation to point out how Porsha's sister and Drew Sidora also once donned similar Native American outfits in the past.

"If it was me who would have come on the show with that on, you would be sitting here using it as a way to roast me right now," Williams replied. "When someone turns and decides to be better, let them be better!"

As the crosstalk continued, Andy eventually broke it up and went to a commercial.

The "RHOA" reunion continues next Sunday on Bravo,

#HipHopNews: Young Thug And Gunna Post Bail For 30 Inmates!

Young Thug and Gunna are reuniting families. The “Ski” rappers shared an act of kindness by posting bonds for 30 inmates at Fulton County Jail in their hometown of Atlanta over the weekend. Most of the men and women were being held on low-level offenses but couldn’t get out because they couldn’t afford the bail money.

“This is where we are from,” Thug told WSB-TV. “We just woke up and went to the jail with the lawyer and you know DAs and all the prosecutors, you know, the bonding companies and just got as many people as we can out.”

In video footage, dozens of inmates were seen leaving the jail before reuniting with their loved ones. “It feels so good where you start feeling like, ‘Oh damn, this why God put me here. He put me here to do this,'” added Thug.

They didn’t say how much money they spent on the bonds, but they plan to do it again. The newly-released inmates will also be featured in the music video for Thug and Gunna’s “Paid the Fine” with Lil Baby.

“You never know what somebody been through. There was people sitting out three or four years and couldn’t get out on a bond,” said Gunna.

Thug and Gunna have another reason to celebrate as their Young Stoner Life compilation Slime Language 2 debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 113,000 equivalent album units. On Friday, they released a deluxe edition with eight additional tracks.

Kanye West Sneakers Fetch Record $1.8M At Private Sale!

A pair of prototype Nikes worn by Kanye West during his performances of “Hey Mama” and “Stronger” at the Grammy Awards in 2008 has shattered the record for a pair of sneakers ever sold.

Sotheby's announced Monday that West's so-called “Grammy Worn” Nike Air Yeezy 1 fetched $1.8 in a private sale. It was acquired by RARES, a sneaker investment marketplace.

The sale marks the highest publicly recorded price for a sneaker sale and the first pair of sneakers to top $1 million. Sotheby’s brokered the private sale.

The size 12 shoes designed by West and Mark Smith are made of soft black leather with perforated detailing throughout the upper, and the heel overlay is branded with a tonal Swoosh. The design features the iconic Yeezy forefoot strap and signature ‘Y’ medallion lacelocks in bright pink.

The price is nearly triple the auction record for a sneaker set in 2020 at Christie’s for $615,000. That was a pair of ’85 Jordan 1s that the basketball superstar wore when he famously shattered the backboard during a pre-season game in Italy.

“We are thrilled with the result, which has nearly tripled the highest price on record,” Brahm Wachter, Sotheby’s head of streetwear and modern collectables, said in a statement. “The sale speaks volumes of Kanye’s legacy as one of the most influential clothing and sneaker designers of our time, and of the Yeezy franchise he has built which has become an industry titan.”

Robert De Niro’s Lawyer Claims He’s Being “Forced to Work” to Support His Estranged Wife’s “Thirst for Stella McCartney”!

Robert De Niro’s lawyer claims that his estranged wife Grace Hightower’s taste for the finer things is keeping the actor working overtime.

According to Page Six, in a virtual divorce hearing held on Friday, De Niro’s attorney, Caroline Krauss, told a Manhattan judge that her client is working at an unsustainable pace in order to support Hightower and pay off all his back taxes. “Mr. De Niro is 77 years old, and while he loves his craft, he should not be forced to work at this prodigious pace because he has to,” Krauss said. “When does that stop? When does he get the opportunity to not take every project that comes along and not work six-day weeks, 12-hour days so he can keep pace with Ms. Hightower’s thirst for Stella McCartney?” A judge recently ruled that Hightower will receive $1 million per year and the couple will sell their $20 million home; her legal team claims De Niro is worth $500 million. But Krauss argued that the pandemic has put her client’s finances in jeopardy and that his estranged wife’s spending is only making matters worse.

Hightower’s lawyer, Kevin McDonough, claimed, however, that since the pair filed for divorce in 2018, De Niro has been unfairly decreasing his payments to his estranged wife, including lowering her monthly credit card limit from $375,000 to just $100,000 as of January of this year. De Niro and Hightower first married in 1997, broke up in 1999, and then got back together and renewed their vows in 2004 before the actor officially filed for divorce three years ago. But while McDonough argued that his client is owed payments to “maintain the status quo” lifestyle she enjoyed when they were married, Krauss countered that Hightower has been going through money more and more quickly, claiming that she spent $1.67 million in 2019 alone, which included buying a diamond worth $1.2 million.

Krauss went on to explain that on top of the financial demands Hightower is making, De Niro is also currently millions of dollars behind on his taxes, and the money from his next two film projects will go toward paying off that debt. Despite this, McDonough asserted that “there have been no cutbacks and no slowdowns in Mr. De Niro’s lifestyle whatsoever,” adding that “when Mr. De Niro goes to brunch Sunday in Connecticut, he charters a helicopter up there. When he flies down to see his friends in Florida or wherever else, it’s a private jet.” However, Krauss refuted the claim that her client was taking helicopters to brunch, while McDonough likewise denied Hightower spent $1.2 million on a diamond.

During the hearing, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Matthew Cooper offered both parties a reality check: “There is nothing ordinary about these expenses. For 99.9999% of the world, these are extraordinary to an almost unimaginable degree.” He added, “I want to get these parties divorced. I want to get Ms. Hightower and Mr. De Niro to go their separate ways. They will still come out of this richer than almost any human being who walks this earth.”

Representatives for De Niro and Hightower were not immediately available for comment.

Charles Barkley Faces Backlash After Suggesting That Women In Georgia Look Like Bulldogs!

Charles Barkley is facing backlash after saying the Georgia Bulldogs “named their mascot after the women down there.”

Some people have some words for Barkley after he seemingly compared the women in Georgia to canines. On Thursday night, during live coverage of the Dallas-Mavericks-Los Angeles Lakers game, Barkley and his co-hosts discussed Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, who previously attended the University of Georgia.

“Georgia the only school in the world they named their mascot after the women down there,” Barkley said. In response, Ernie Johnson said, “So totally uncalled for…Not even gonna dignify that with a response.”

Barkley also had some unruly comments about women in San Antonio, Texas as well back in 2012. “Some big ol’ women down there…that’s a gold mine for Weight Watchers,” he said at the time while chatting about the Spurs.

“Victoria is definitely a secret [in San Antonio]…they can’t wear no Victoria’s Secret down there,” he continued, referring to the popular lingerie retailer. “They wear bloomers down there…ain’t nothing skimpy down there.”

'The Talk' Cohost Carrie Ann Inaba Announces She's Leaving The CBS Talk Show To Focus On Her 'Well-Being'!

"The Talk" cohost Carrie Ann Inaba posted a video on Twitter Monday announcing a leave of absence.

The CBS show is mired in controversy over investigations into allegations of racism and bullying.

Inaba said the break was so she could "focus on my well-being."

"The Talk" cohost Carrie Ann Inaba said Monday she was taking a break from the CBS talk show.

In a series of videos posted on Twitter, Inaba said she needed to leave the show to "focus on my well-being."

"I know you guys understand. Health is the most important thing," she added. "I appreciate your support. I appreciate the love and support from 'The Talk' family, and I hope to be back soon. Take care, and I'll keep you updated."

-Carrie Ann Inaba (@carrieanninaba) April 26, 2021

Inaba's departure was also addressed on Monday's show.

"We'd like to let you all know at home, Carrie Ann is taking a leave of absence from the show to focus on her well-being," Sheryl Underwood said during the episode. "We miss you, Carrie Ann, and we look forward to having you back with us soon."

Inaba, who's been a cohost on the series since 2017, is leaving just one month after Sharon Osbourne departed the show.

Osbourne and Underwood had a heated exchange on air about racism and the way the TV personality Piers Morgan had been disparaging Meghan Markle.

On Twitter, Osbourne shared a statement in which she said she "panicked, felt blindsided, got defensive & allowed my fear & horror of being accused of being racist take over" during the exchange with Underwood.

Immediately afterward, CBS launched an internal investigation after another cohost, Elaine Welteroth, and her hairstylist filed complaints about what they alleged was a "racially insensitive and hostile environment" on the show's set.

Meanwhile, a series of reports and allegations about Osbourne's treatment of her cohosts have resurfaced.

While there's no word on who will replace Inaba during her leave, the cohosts who remain at the table are Underwood, Welteroth, and Amanda Kloots.

HFPA Margaret Gardiner Reporter Apologizes to Daniel Kaluuya, Says She Knows He’s Not Leslie Odom Jr!

Hollywood Foreign Press Association member Margaret Gardiner has addressed the video in which she asks Oscar winner Daniel Kaluuya what it meant “to be directed by Regina” (Regina King directed One Night in Miami, starring Leslie Odom Jr., while Shaka King directed Judas and the Black Messiah, which Kaluuya won Best Supporting Actor for). “I apologize to Daniel Kaluuya for my words,” the South African journalist wrote on Twitter on Monday. “I apologize to anyone else who was offended by them.”

Earlier that afternoon, Gardiner tweeted that she was sorry “if it seemed” that she had confused Odom Jr. and Kaluuya, but she still says that it was due to a technical glitch with Zoom. According to Gardiner, she meant to ask two separate questions, one about Regina King not being nominated and one about what Kaluuya’s win meant to the community. Because of a sound issue, she said, she dropped the first part. In the video of the press conference,

Kaluuya looks baffled (not unlike his mom when he mentioned his parents having sex) as he processes the mention of Regina King. Gardiner, who began her question by saying she’d followed the actor since the start of his career, tweeted that she has reached out to a DEI expert. In February, Variety reported that the HFPA did not have a single Black journalist among its 87 members — and had not since 2002.

Last month, the organization said it would commit to having 13 percent Black membership by next year’s Golden Globes.

Michael B. Jordan reveals why Sly Stallone won't be back for 'Creed III': 'This is the Creed franchise moving forward'!

The recent news that Sylvester Stallone's lovable punching bag, Rocky Balboa, won't be part of Creed III hit fans like a Clubber Lang-style punch in the gut. But Creed star Michael B. Jordan — who graduates to the director's chair with the third installment in the spin-off series following young Adonis Creed — has a good reason for why the Italian Stallion isn't returning for another round. "I feel like this is the Creed franchise," the actor tells Yahoo Entertainment while discussing his new film, Without Remorse, which premieres April 30 on Prime Video. "We really want fans to be interested in Adonis and what that story has to say." (Watch our video interview above.)

At the same time, Jordan makes it clear that Rocky will always be a part of his pupil's life... even if they're not sharing the same frame. "There's going to be so many Rocky-isms that are forever going to stay with Adonis as he moves forward," he notes, suggesting that Balboa will still be represented onscreen. "So as far as page space, or whether or not Rocky comes back for this one, this is the Creed franchise moving forward."

It's worth noting that Stallone has his own plans for Rocky, who we last saw reuniting with his estranged son, Rocky Jr. (Milo Ventimiglia), in the closing moments of Creed II. The veteran actor has previously teased two possible future projects starring his alter ego. In a 2019 interview with Variety, Stallone discussed a solo sequel that would find Balboa training a young street fighter who is in the U.S. illegally. And in a recent Instagram post, he shared handwritten pages for a Rocky prequel series that would follow Balboa's early years on the mean streets of Philadelphia.

Stallone is also putting the finishing touches on a director's cut of Rocky IV, which serves as a prequel to Creed II. The new version will be retitled Rocky vs. Drago and will feature footage not previously seen in the 1985 blockbuster, which remains the highest-grossing entry in the franchise.

In other words, there are plenty of ways for Rocky to return outside of Creed III, and Jordan is thrilled to see where his mentor pops up next. "Rocky will live on and do other things, and I'm sure Creed fans are going to support Rocky as much as possible and hopefully vice versa as well."

In the meantime, Jordan is laser-focused on crafting Adonis's next chapter. "I've been acting for over 20 years, and over time your taste buds start to evolve and develop and you want to tell stories yourself," he says of his decision to step behind the camera. "Creed is the first character I'm coming back to play three times. I've been daydreaming about the opportunity and had a clear vision of where I want this character to go moving forward. I'm looking forward to sharing the story with everybody."

For the record, Jordan's co-stars in Without Remorse think he has the makings of a great director. "It's really important that directors understand actors, and because he's been on the other side of the camera, being behind it will give him insight," says Lauren London, who plays his on-screen wife in the Tom Clancy-derived action thriller. Jodie Turner-Smith, meanwhile, praises Jordan's ability to "listen" and his "spirit of collaboration." "When you direct something, it's like you're saying, 'This is what I have to say as a filmmaker. I can't wait to see what it is he has to say."

Having worked with Jordan twice — previously in 2015's ill-fated Fantastic Four reboot and now Without Remorse — Jamie Bell is particularly psyched for Creed III. "We have a scene in this movie where [Michael] chokes me out for two minutes, and he's choking me out for two minutes straight," the actor says, laughing. "It's no holds barred! He's fully committed to it, and I have no doubt he'll apply everything he does with his acting and his characters, I'm sure he'll apply the same thing to his directing as well. I wish all the best of luck to him, and if he wants to call me to be in it." As Rocky would say: Keep punching, Jamie.

Oprah: I Had ‘Flashbacks Of Emmett Till’ Watching The Derek Chauvin Verdict!

Watching jurors deliver a guilty verdict for Derek Chauvin was an emotional experience for Oprah Winfrey, she says.

“I watched the verdict live — like so many other people around the world,” she told Dr. Oz in an upcoming interview.

“I started to tear up and I asked myself, ‘Where is this emotion coming from?’ And I was having … flashbacks of Emmett Till and all the names that we’ve heard protesters speak for.”

Winfrey told Oz that she had a dream about Till — the Mississippi 14-year-old who was lynched in 1955 after a white woman accused him of flirting with her — the night before the verdict where “we were all on a bus together and the bus blew up.”

“And so I wake in that morning like, what does that mean? And does that mean this whole trial is going to blow up…?,” she said. “So I went to bed [after the verdict] thinking about Emmett Till and the fact that he never received justice. And this moment was a sacrifice for all of the people who didn’t receive justice.”

On April 20, former cop Chauvin was convicted of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter for his part in the killing of George Floyd. He’ll be sentenced in June.

Winfrey sat down with Oz to speak about her new book “What Happened to You? Conversations on Trauma, Resilience, and Healing.” She also opened up about her childhood traumas including the time her grandmother gave her a “really bad whipping” after she accused her of putting her fingers in the family’s bucket of drinking water.

“My emotion now is not because I feel, you know, such deep pain about it, I just feel pain for that little girl. I feel like, now I know what it’s like to be you know, you look at a three, four-year-old, five-year-old child and how innocent they are. And at the time, I just accepted it,” she said.

Oz’s interview with Winfrey airs on Thursday.

Lauren London Opens Up About Returning to Work for the First Time Since Nipsey Hussle’s Death!

Lauren London’s acting career was put on pause following the 2019 death of her boyfriend, Nipsey Hussle.

Two years after his tragic death, London makes her return to the screen in the upcoming Amazon Prime Video action flick, Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse, alongside Michael B. Jordan, Guy Pearce, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Jamie Bell.

In it, London plays the pregnant wife of John Clark (Jordan), a Navy SEAL who “uncovers an international conspiracy while seeking justice” for her murder, according to the movie’s logline.

While speaking to Entertainment Tonight recently, London discussed what it was like going back to work after the tragedy of losing her partner. “We shot it in 2019 I believe—and forgive me, my memory doesn’t serve me so well after grief and everything,” she said. “Michael reached out to me as a friend and he was so unsure if I was even going to ever work again. And he was like, ‘Look, I’m unsure if this is what you want to do, but I have to follow my intuition, I have to ask you if can you just read the script.’”

Upon reading the script, London said she felt a connection to her character. “I saw throughout the film she comes to him,” she said. “Her love for him is still guiding him and I felt so connected to that just in my own personal experience that I felt like I could contribute here.” London said that the goal moving forward is to work on something only if she can “truthfully contribute

to it.

But part of what motivated her to take on this role was her kids, who she wanted to set an example for. “We can’t stop, you know? We do have a purpose, all of us, and it’s important for my sons to see me moving forward with grief, not just curling up in a ball because I curled up in a ball for a long time,” she said. “But especially for my eldest son because he’s just a little more aware… But we will continue moving on as we had to, as he would want us to.”

Without Remorse premieres April 30 on Amazon Prime Video.

FBI opens civil rights probe into killing of Andrew Brown Jr. in North Carolina!

The Federal Bureau of Investigation confirmed Tuesday that it will investigate the killing of Andrew Brown Jr., a Black man who died after police shot him during an arrest in North Carolina last week.

The announcement comes a day after attorneys for Brown’s family, allowed to watch a 20-second video of his arrest, said the 42-year-old was shot in the back of the head while he had his hands on his steering wheel.

Brown was shot five times in all, including four times in his right arm, according to an autopsy conducted at the request of his family.

Brown was killed by sheriff’s deputies in Elizabeth City during an attempt to serve drug-related search and arrest warrants. Seven of the deputies involved in the arrest were placed on paid leave, the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office said.

“The FBI Charlotte Field Office has opened a federal civil rights investigation into the police-involved shooting death of Andrew Brown Jr.,” an FBI spokesman said. “Agents will work closely with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina and the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice to determine whether federal laws were violated.”

The spokesman declined to comment further, saying the investigation was ongoing.

Brown was killed Wednesday, one day after a jury found former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin guilty of the murder of George Floyd.

Floyd’s death in custody reinvigorated the movement opposing police brutality against Black people. The Justice Department is pursuing a civil rights investigation into Floyd’s killing in addition to a pattern-or-practice probe into the Minneapolis Police Department.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the pattern-or-practice investigation Wednesday. On Monday, Garland said the DOJ would pursue a similar investigation into the Louisville Metro Police Department in Kentucky, which has been criticized for the death of Breonna Taylor. Taylor was killed in her apartment last year after police entered using a no-knock warrant and fired 32 bullets.

Attorneys for Brown’s family have condemned his killing and called for more footage to be released. Authorities have said they have requested that a judge permit the release of the video.

Based on what they were allowed to see already, Brown’s family has said the police appeared to lack a justification for using deadly force.

“There was no time in the 20 seconds that we saw where he was threatening the officers in any kind of way,” Chantel Cherry-Lassiter, an attorney, said at a press conference after watching the video, the Associated Press reported.

Khalil Ferebee, Brown’s son, told reporters after watching the video that his father had been “executed” while trying to save his own life.

Pasquotank County Sheriff Tommy Wooten has asked for patience while investigations continue.

“This tragic incident was quick and over in less than 30 seconds, and body cameras are shaky and sometimes hard to decipher,” Wooten said Monday, according to NBC News.

It’s not clear how long the FBI’s investigation into Brown’s death will continue. William Barr, while attorney general under former President Donald Trump, announced the civil rights investigation into Floyd’s killing in May 2020. Garland said that investigation was ongoing last week, but did not provide further updates.

The civil rights investigations into Brown’s and Floyd’s killings will look into whether federal laws were broken during those particular arrests. In contrast, pattern-or-practice investigations probe whether police departments routinely flout civil rights laws.

Under Trump, pattern-or-practice investigations were largely curtailed, though Garland has shown some eagerness to revamp them.

While the Congressional Research Service has found that the Justice Department historically opens about three such investigations a year, Garland has opened two this month. About a third of pattern-or-practice investigations result in significant reforms, the research service found.

In addition to the FBI investigation, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is also examining Brown’s killing.

Federal Judge Throws Out Lawsuit Seeking To Ban Transgender Athletes From Girls’ High School Sports!

A federal judge has just thrown out a lawsuit seeking to end transgender girls competing in girls’ high school sports.

On Sunday, U.S. District Judge Robert Chatigny ruled to dismiss a lawsuit put together by a group of high school student-athletes. Last year, in February, a group of cisgender girls filed the lawsuit, stating that they would “face unfair competition” going up against transgender athletes, specifically two transgender students, in sports competitions.

According to The Hill, the suit was filed against several school boards and the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, which oversees the state of Connecticut’s school sports. The Conference allows students to participate in sports that correspond with their gender identities. The legal document states that cisgender girls competing against transgender girls would have them at a disadvantage.

The judge ruled to drop the lawsuit, noting the two transgender students have graduated and there is no longer an issue to resolve. On a federal level, Trump previously supported the lawsuit, but earlier this year, the Biden administration pulled federal support.

Joshua Block, a senior staff attorney with The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), said the lawsuit being dismissed was “good news for transgender students in Connecticut and around the country.”

“Today’s ruling shows that allowing transgender students to fully participate in school — including sports — is consistent with existing federal law,” Block said in a Sunday statement.
