Maya Rudolph for Entertainment Weekly - Feb 2021!
Here's the alphabet according to 'Maya Rudolph.' Last November, America chose Kamala Harris as its next vice president. Months before that though, they'd already decided who should play her on Saturday Night Live. "More and more, there are some people that our audience casts," the show's legendary creator and executive producer told EW during an interview for March's Maya Rudolph cover story.
"When Sarah Palin had that [first] debate," he recalls, "I got two or three emails — because this was a period of emails — 'It's Tina Fey!" She was Tina Fey. I was walking out of my building on the way to the studio on that Monday and my doorman said, 'Mr. Michaels, Tina Fey. It's like a no brainer.' And then I heard it three or four more times that day. So when I got sent a couple of memes of Maya, I just realized."
Rudolph for her part was flattered, if not exactly surprised. "Yeah, I smelled it coming," she laughs. "And I remember when Tina smelled it coming for Sarah Palin. It's funny. It was almost like a red herring early on, when I wasn't on the show anymore and Rachel Dolezal was in the news and everyone was talking about it I was like, 'I'm going to get the call.' It felt like that, but much more rewarding. "
From there it was mostly a matter of logistics; Rudolph lives in Los Angeles with her husband, the director Paul Thomas Anderson (Phantom Thread, There Will Be Blood), and their four young children, so participating would mean flying back and forth across the country in the midst of a pandemic.
Nevertheless, she persisted. "A huge element of working at SNL is the political portion of it," she says. "But it's rare to be involved in a presidential campaign.... I think knowing that there was a candidate that I resembled so much was so cool in and of itself. And then icing on the cake is just simply getting to do it on the show, a place that I feel so at home in, and that I love. But also it's just the charge of this time and being able to have any sort of voice in the story. I also just felt really lucky that we figured out a way to have fun with her early on and make her a joyful character."
The influence may flow both ways, at least according to Michaels. "There was a moment a couple weeks before the election when I thought, 'Is Kamala doing Maya?'" he says. "I had the same moment with Dana Carvey with the first George Bush, that after a while watching Dana and then watching the president, you thought that he should talk a little faster like Dana. But those impressions are indelible. And I can tell you one of the ways you know that is because people can do it after they see her do it. You know what I mean? The way she pronounces things, the mannerisms, a certain look — when she's out there, she just owns it."
He also appreciates the scope of what Rudolph may be signing up for the next four years, and possibly beyond. "I mean, Jim Carrey came in from Hawaii and lived in New York for those first six shows [as then-candidate Joe Biden], which was always sort of what we thought he would do. I just needed him until the election. But it's a big commitment, you're stopping your life."
Often, he explains, "She's flying in on a Friday and if the flight gets in on time, we'll rehearse it at 10 o'clock that night. So she's used to that... She's not a stress person, you know what I mean? She knows somehow when she goes out there she's going to figure it out, and she's worked so much with the writers over the years that they know her voice."
Whatever the future holds, he says, "I think there's something powerful in what she's doing with Kamala, and I think now with [cast member] Alex [Moffat] playing Biden, we saw a glimpse of what that chemistry will be like... We've been in such a dark period, it feels to me that any glimpse of optimism or hopefulness will help everyone. And I think Maya will be part of that."
#RHOA: Cynthia Bailey reacts to being called an ‘auntie’ by ‘RHOA’ co-stars!
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Cynthia Bailey is always ready to be a fun auntie.
While Porsha Williams and Shamea Morton called Bailey, Kenya Moore and Kandi Burruss the “aunties” of the group during a recent cast trip, Bailey wasn’t too concerned about the potential diss.
“Let’s just say being called an auntie is not maybe the worst thing ever in this group,” she joked to Page Six while promoting her partnership with Seagram’s Escapes.
“What I will say is the nieces are probably gonna do some things that I probably would not do,” she explained. “So I’ll just leave that right there. And if I am an auntie, please believe, I’m probably the fly auntie that comes to the barbecue who everyone’s looking for, you know what I’m saying?”
The newlywed added that she didn’t see it “as a slight in terms of age” because she is “very proud” of being 53 years old and thinks she “represents the 50s extremely, extremely well.”
“So if I’m an auntie, I’m the old fun auntie,” she quipped.
“The Real Housewives of Atlanta” airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.

#HipHopNews: Watch The Trailer For The Notorious B.I.G. Documentary ‘Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell’!
The story of The Notorious B.I.G. has been told several times, but Netflix explores his rise to stardom in Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell, the first estate-approved documentary about the late rap icon. A trailer has been released for the film, which chronicles Christopher Wallace’s life from growing up the son of a Jamaican immigrant in Brooklyn to developing the groundbreaking rap style that would make him one of the most influential artists of all time.
Directed by Emmett Malloy, the 97-minute documentary chronicles Biggie’s journey through interviews and commentary from those who knew him best including his mother Voletta Wallace and Sean “Diddy” Combs, who both serve as executive producers, along with Faith Evans, Lil Cease, and other members of Big’s inner circle.
Four years in the making, I Got a Story to Tell was first announced in 2017 under the title One More Chance. “The running joke about documentary films is often how long they take to make. This film lived up to all those stereotypes, taking us four years to develop and make it,” Malloy told Rolling Stone. “Through those years we were immersed in Brooklyn in the ’70s through the ’90s. It is easy to see how much Brooklyn has changed since Christopher Wallace was a kid, but it’s also clear that many things about being a young Black man in this country have not changed.”
The film also features rare footage from the archives of Biggie’s childhood friend Damian “D Roc” Butler. “Big was always a visionary. There will never be such a crazy time in Brooklyn as the ’80s and ’90s, out of great struggle, comes great art and music. The Brooklyn kid rapping today won’t have the same stories we have to tell,” said D Roc, adding that with the documentary, “fans see Big was an artist before he was a rapper.”

It’s been 24 years since The Notorious B.I.G. was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles. In November, he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Oprah Winfrey, Will Interview Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on CBS!
Fresh off the news that the Duchess of Sussex is expecting their second child, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have announced that they will be sitting down with the queen for a “wide-ranging” interview. And by queen we do not Harry’s paternal grandmother, but rather Oprah Winfrey, the undisputed queen of television. Variety reports that Oprah With Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special is set to air on March 7 at 8 p.m. The special will begin with a one-on-one interview between Winfrey and Markle about “stepping into royal life, marriage, motherhood, her philanthropic work and how she handles life under the public eye.” The women will then be joined by Prince Harry, and they will discuss the couple’s decision to move to the U.S. and their future endeavors.
The happy news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s family is expanding comes months after Markle penned an emotional op-ed in the New York Times about how she had suffered a miscarriage. The Valentine’s Day announcement also came exactly 37 years after Princess Diana announced that she was pregnant with Prince Harry. The Los Angeles–based couple are parents to one-and-a-half-year-old Archie, who recently made his audio debut on the couple’s podcast, wishing listeners a “Happy New Year.” No word on whether Archie will make an appearance during the CBS interview, but if anyone could get access to the royal tot, it’s Queen Winfrey.
Beyoncé’s Derriere Shot for Ivy Park Promo Nearly Breaks the Internet!
Beyoncé Knowles-Carter is gearing up for the launch of her new Adidas x Ivy Park collection Icy Park with sexy promo photos on Instagram. On Saturday, Feb. 13, she got cheeky in a picture wearing one the new line’s pieces, a brown bodysuit that appears to be made from latex.
In the post, which consisted of two uploads, Queen Bey is lying belly-down on a white plastic-wrapped couch while stretching her arms back. The second photo shows that her arms are stretching back to reach for her Adidas sneakers. The hot shot revealed Beyoncé’s bootylicious figure with her jelly sitting perfectly perked up.
The photos drew an enormous amount of attention with over 25,000 comments from both celebrities and fans eating up Beyoncé’s shots promoting this third collection, which includes five shoe models and several stylish winter pieces. Although purpose of the photo spread was to promote the new collection, fans in the comments could not help but talk about her derriere.
A couple of fans wrote, “ALL ON INSTAGRAM CAKE BY THE POUND,” reciting her lyrics from her single “Yonce.”
Using part of her Beyoncé’s verse from Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” remix, another fan said, “if you wanna see some real a$$, baby here’s your chance 😌.”
Of course, a celebrity as loved and as unproblematic as Beyoncé can’t do anything without having a few haters saying something.
One person wrote, “So this is what we’re doing now!?”
Someone else called out the “Lion King” star for not using Saweetie in her Icy Park promo video, since she brands herself as the “Icy Girl.” Some even thought she would have been a better fit for the shoot than model Hailey Beiber.
One person said, “You stole the WHOLE Icy Swag from @saweetie !!! That was wrong Bey…. It was cool with Ivy Park, but NOT Icy Park. Sorry I had to say that. I’ve been rocking with you since you came out, but I’m disappointed with this ‘Icy.’” Another celebrity that was a part of the campaign was Gucci Mane, which makes sense, since his brand is all about icy objects and phrases as well.
Fans have less than a week until they can purchase items from the new line. Revealing when it will be available, the mother of three wrote in the caption, “ICY PARK 🧊 FEB 19 adidas.com FEB 20 select stores globally #adidasxIVYPARK #IVYPARK.”
Michael Jordan Donates $10M To Open 2 More North Carolina Clinics!
Michel Jordan is cracking his wallet wide open once again to help open two more clinics near his North Carolina home state that serve underprivileged community members.
Jordan, 57, is partnering once again with Novant Health by donating $10 million to two additional clinics in New Hanover County which encompasses his hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina, acccording to the Charlotte Observer.
Jordan already donated $7 million to Novant Health in 2017 to open two Michael Jordan Family Clinics in Charlotte, North Carolina, about a 200 miles west of Wilmington where Jordan was raised. Charlotte is also the place where Jordan owns the Charlotte Hornets NBA franchise.
“I am very proud to once again partner with Novant Health to expand the Family Clinic model to bring better access to critical medical services in my hometown,” Jordan said in a statement according to the newspaper.
Jordan, 57, who is widely considered the greatest NBA player in history, was nevertheless ridiculed during his playing years in the 1980s and 1990s for allegedly being apathetic to the sociopolitical ills of Blacks. This minority demographic has historically and inordinately patronized his coveted products, most particularly his Nike shoe line. But Jordan is rewriting that odious narrative in recent years with his astounding philanthropy.
“Everyone should have access to quality health care, no matter where they live, or whether or not they have insurance. Wilmington holds a special place in my heart and it’s truly gratifying to be able to give back to the community that supported me throughout my life,” Jordan said.
Novant says MJ’s donation will provide “comprehensive primary care, including behavioral health and social support services, to the area’s most vulnerable communities.”
Production For Colin Kaepernick's New Netflix Series Reportedly Threatened by Proud Boys!
Colin Kaepernick’s TV production was forced to extra security measures after it was reportedly threatened by the Proud Boys, TMZ has learned.
Sources close to the production told the outlet that the anti-Black Lives Matter group was planning a protest at a location shoot last Friday. Although the demonstration never came to fruition, it worried cast and crew in terms of the lengths the group might go to disrupt production. Two production assistants also claim that a suspicious phone call was made to the production office this past week.
Netflix recently announced the limited series Colin in Black & White created by Kaepernick and Ava DuVernay. It will provide “meaningful insight” into Kaepernick’s formative years and will center around his time in high school. Viewers will see how these experiences shaped Kaepernick’s views on race and eventually activism.
“With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture and for him, personally,” DuVernay said last June. “Colin’s story has much to say about identity, sports, and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience. I couldn’t be happier than to tell this story with the team at Netflix.”
One of T.I. & Tiny Accusers Hired Famed Lawyer Lisa Bloom!
An unidentified woman who alleges T.I. and Tiny are sexual predators hired famed lawyer Lisa Bloom.
Last week, the Harris’ former friend, Sabrina Peterson, made claims that T.I. pulled a gun on her. The following day, according to Sabrina, multiple women reached out to her and shared stories of alleged sexual abuse from T.I. and Tiny.
Take a look at the alleged wild claims. Since then, Tiny came to T.I.’s defense about the gun situation. Then someone from T.I and Tiny’s team denied the allegations. This is the statement:
“Mr. and Mrs. Harris want to be on record and more importantly want the public to know they emphatically deny in the strongest way possible the egregiously appalling allegations being made against them by Sabrina Peterson. The Harris’ have had difficulty with this woman for well over a decade. They are taking this matter very seriously, and if these allegations don’t end, they will take appropriate legal action.”
After that, T.I. hopped on Live to address the situation and deny the allegations. The Harris’ plan on taking legal action if necessary.
In the latest update, reported on The Jasmine Brand, an alleged victim hired Lisa Bloom and they plan on taking the matter seriously. The victim’s identity hasn’t been made public and as of right now, Lisa is only representing one of the alleged victims. Take a look at a screenshot captured by the It’s On-Site blog:

Kordell Stewart Publically Addresses Rumors About Him For First Time!
If you were a Pittsburgh Steelers fan in the late 1990s you remember Kordell Stewart. The man who started out as “Slash” and then led the team to two AFC Championship games.
If you know Kordell, then you probably know about the rumors that surrounded him beginning in 1998, that he was a homosexual.
For the first time, the retired quarterback is addressing everything he went through back then in a new column he has written for the Players’ Tribune.
Society has changed in those over 20 years since but at that time, those accusations were, as Stewart puts it, a death sentence.
Stewart says he has grown a lot in the past 20 years and accepts everyone for who they are now, but adds he was a product of his environment in the late 90s.
In the personal piece, Stewart talks about how then owner, the late Dan Rooney, wanted to make sure he was okay and after an investigation had discovered that the allegations, that had spread all over town (before social media), were started allegedly by a local police officer.
Stewart says a few weeks later after a home loss against New England, a man in a Steelers jacket called him “an effing N*****.”
He says he believes the rumor spread so quickly because some people wanted to see him fail.
“What killed me was that there were people in the city who really wanted to see me suffer," said Stewart.
Stewart also talks about the smile his mother gave him growing up and the strength his father gave him and how he never ran from Pittsburgh and stuck it out.
“Three years after I had my name dragged through the mud, three years after they threw beer in my face, three years after they called called me n***** in my own stadium, I led the Steelers back to the AFC Championship Game in 2001. Nobody can ever take that away from me, man.”
Stewart admits that he wasn’t a perfect quarterback, but that is what he wanted to be.
When everyone else wanted him to be “Slash” he wanted to be a quarterback.
He even tells the story of running into Dan Rooney at Jerome Bettis’ Hall of Fame induction and how he said if he would’ve stayed a receiver he would also be in Canton, but that wasn’t what Stewart wanted. He wanted to be himself.
He ends the piece with:
“You know what I heard about Kordell Stewart???”
Oh yeah, I heard it all.
But let the record show….
I took all the shots.
I took all the slurs.
I took all the slander.
I made a lot of mistakes.
But I stayed in that pocket.
And dammit, I did it my way.
Former Tampa Bay Bucs Star Receiver Vincent Jackson Found Dead In Hotel Room!
Former star wide receiver of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Vincent Jackson was found dead in a Brandon, Florida, hotel room Monday, law enforcement authorities reported.
He was 38. The cause of death has yet to be determined, pending autopsy results. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is investigating. Police said there were no obvious signs of trauma.
Jackson, who lived in Tampa, checked into the Homewood Suites on Jan. 11 and had been staying there ever since, the hotel staff told police.
After his family filed a missing person’s report last week, police located him at the hotel, where he stayed after officers assessed his well-being.
Jackson was not only known for his skill on the field but also for his charitable work in his community. He founded the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation to support military families.
“My heart aches for the many loved ones Vincent Jackson leaves behind, from his wife and children to the Buccaneers nation that adored him,” Huntington County Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a statement.
Jackson was made an honorary deputy three years ago to “recognize his dedication to the community,” Chronister noted. “He will be sorely missed by not only football fans across the country but also the people here in Hillsborough County who reaped the benefits of his generous contributions.”
A statement from the Bucs hailed Jackson as a “consummate professional” and a “dedicated father, husband, businessman and philanthropist, who made a deep impact on our community through his unyielding advocacy for military families.”
Jackson played for the Buccaneers for five years until he retired in 2016. He totaled 1,000 or more receiving yards three times in his five seasons with the Bucs and was named the team’s man of the year four times.
He played his first seven seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers, when the team was based in San Diego.
Jackson racked up a total of six 1,000-yard receiving campaigns and tallied 540 catches for 9,080 yards and 57 touchdowns over his career.
“We are shocked and deeply saddened by news of Vincent Jackson’s sudden passing,” the Chargers said in a statement. “Vincent was a fan favorite not only for his Pro Bowl play on the field, but for the impact he made on the community. The work he has done on behalf of military families through his foundation in the years since his retirement has been an inspiration to all of us.”
Jackson, who grew up in Colorado and played football at the University of Northern Colorado, is survived by his wife, Lindsey, and children Carter, Amaya and Dominick.

Perez Hilton Regrets The Way He Treated Britney Spears In The Past!
Perez Hilton has expressed remorse over the way he reported about Britney Spears in the past.
The celebrity gossip blogger, 42, admitted he "regrets" his brutal past treatment of the iconic singer following the release of the documentary Framing Britney Spears.
Perez Hilton expressed guilt over how he reported on Britney Spears in the past. (ITV)
"I regret a lot or most of what I said about Britney," Hilton told Good Morning Britain on Monday. "Thankfully, hopefully, many of us get older and wiser."
The documentary addresses the way in which the 'Toxic' singer was portrayed and treated by the media at the peak of her career, sparking criticism of media personalities who negatively reported on the star and her personal struggles.
Hilton came under fire amid the documentary's release, with viewers slamming the blogger for his scathing coverage of Spears. In 2007, he labelled her an "unfit mother" after the umbrella incident with paparazzi. And in 2008, he had featured t-shirts which showed an image of actor Heath Ledger in Brokeback Mountain with the words, "Why couldn't it be Britney?" on his site when Ledger died in 2008.
"It went beyond bullying though. I remember Perez showing and laughing at t-shirts that said, 'Why couldn't it have been Britney?' when Heath Ledger died. That's beyond bullying," one critic tweeted.
Perez Hilton commenting on the Britney situation is wholly inappropriate when he was the frothing cheerleader in chief," another wrote.
In the same interview, Hilton defended journalist Diane Sawyer over a resurfaced interview from 2003 in which she interrogates Spears following her breakup with Justin Timberlake.
"Someone who was talked about in this documentary briefly, Diane Sawyer — a respected journalist, a good woman — but many people are painting her out to be a villain," he said.
"I think a lot of fans and folks just want to blame this person and that person, but it's not as simple as that. There are real, mental health issues at play with Britney Spears."
Vanessa Bell Calloway Believes Her Skin Tone Affected ‘Coming To America’ Casting!
Vanessa Bell Calloway isn’t living in the past — just shedding more light on it.
Calloway — who played the role of Imani Izzi in 1988’s “Coming to America,” the beautiful woman originally meant to marry Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem — says she originally auditioned for the lead female role of Lisa, played by Shari Headley, and believes her complexion played a role in not getting the part.
“When you have white people hiring black people in movies, sometimes a certain look is wanted,” Calloway, 67, tells Page Six. Calloway got the impression that the film’s team “wanted a light-skinned girl. I just wasn’t light enough, even though Eddie had the final say on who played Lisa.”
She continued, “That’s something that we’ve always dealt with within our race: A lot of men were indoctrinated by having a white woman or light-skinned woman on their arm.”
Calloway, who’s also been seen in Showtime’s “Shameless” recently, adds, “I didn’t want the part of Imani, I wanted to be Lisa — I had read the script and I wanted the bigger role.”
The production then allegedly said she would be great for the role of Imani and asked her to read for the part.
“At that point, I knew I was not going to get Lisa. So I went outside in the hallway, looked over the part with five minutes of preparation, went back in, and did the best I could.”
Calloway says that despite her experience, the opportunity outweighed her misgivings.
“The real deal is, when you’re in a situation like that, you wanna be a part of an Eddie Murphy movie. I wasn’t gonna say no! I would’ve loved to have had the lead part, but I was very happy to be in the movie. I can’t lie about that. I said, ‘I’ll make the best out of this and I’ll be the best.’ It was a smaller role but it was a glamorous part to play. And Shari did a great job.”
Calloway will appear in a cameo in the film’s sequel, “Coming 2 America,” which will premiere on March 5 on Amazon Prime. She currently stars in “Saints & Sinners: Judgment Day” on the Bounce network.
Rapper CyHi The Prynce Reveals That There Was A Murder Attempt On His Life!
Rapper CyHi The Prynce recently let everyone know in a lengthy post on Instagram that there was an attempt on his life. His Instagram brought forward a lot of attention and a lot of concern about his well-being. It is unknown the magnitude of his injuries, but we are happy to hear that he’s still around.
According to the rapper, his vehicle got shot up, which forced him off the road and flipped his car. In the post, he doesn’t implicate anyone he believed to be involved in the attempt to take his life, but says that Atlanta is not the city of love like other people may think.
The post read: “Today Is A Day About Love, But In My City (The City Of Atlanta) There’s No Love Here Anymore. A Couple Nights Ago There Was An Attempt On My Life… Somebody Tried To Gun Me Down On The Highway. I Tried Everything I Could Do To Lose Them, But They Were Adament About Taking Me Off This Earth. They Where Shooting At Me While I Was Driving And Even After My Car Flipped, Hit A Pole And Crashed Into A Tree, They Came Back And Shot The Car Up Some More. At This Point I Don’t Know If It Was A Mistaken Identity, A Robbery, Or Associated With Something That I Did When I Was Younger But I Haven’t Been In The Streets In Over A Decade. I Just Want To Know Why And If There Is Anything I Can Do To Fix The Issue. I Was Born And Raised In Atlanta, GA, And I Have Tremendous Love For My City … But It’s Chaotic Out Here. I’m Trying My Best To Keep A Level Head, But When You Dont Know Who Is After You Its Hard To Wrap Your Mind Around It And Not Be Paranoid. By The Grace Of God And My Lord And Savior Jesus Christ I Am Still Here. I Just Want To Let The People Know Who Were Trying To Kill Me That I Am Not A Bad Person. I Don’t Want Revenge, I Just Want Understanding And Closure. So Everyone That’s In Atlanta Right Now, Please Protect Yourself, Stay Out The Way And Be Careful, Because It Could All Be Over In A Split Second. I Understand There’s A Lot Of Beef Going On In My City Between Different Crews, That Is Fueled By The Music…But It Is Time That We All Have A Sit Down And Have A Peace Meeting. There Are To Many Lives Being Lost Over Music. I Know I’m Not The King Of My City Or Nothing, But The Real Leaders (I Won’t Say No Names, But You Guys Know Who You Are) You All Are Extremely Blessed To Have The The Careers That You Have And Be Able To Feed Your Family And Loved Ones. It’s Time To Stop The Violence In Atlanta. I Don’t Have All The Answers And I Definitely Don’t Have The Power To Make It Stop, But I Do Feel Like Somebody Gotta Step Up And Say Something. So Much Love To Every Artist, Label, Hustler, And Crew In My City Pleaseee Lets Resolve Our Problems Man. We Don’t Have To Kill Each Other Man. SMH Thanks Again, Atlanta. I Wrote This Letter To Y’all With Tears In My Eyes.”
Honestly, the violence in the black community has got to stop. To many people are losing their lives to senseless killings. Put the guns down!
