With her portrayal, Turner-Smith wanted to “tell the story of the woman who sits at the center of the myth, and make that story an accessible one—one that’s not entirely about class, but about humanity. Because whether a woman is a queen or a housekeeper, she is not exempt from any of the challenges and trials that women face in navigating their bodies, love, or the patriarchy,” she says. “There’s an opportunity to tell a really human story and for it to feel that much more accessible because a Black woman is playing her.”

Kenya Moore of The Real Housewives of Atlanta is known for throwing shade. The reality TV personality has infamously feuded with Nene Leakes over the years and never misses a moment to take a jab at her former co-star. Cohen pressed Moore to say which housewife she was referring to and the former beauty queen said, “The one that originally said, ‘Fix your face.'”

Robin Thicke links back up with Pharrell for the new groovy record “Take Me Higher”. While discussing popularity of the Verzuz machine over the last several months, the topic of dream battles came up. Swizz spelled out the possibility of putting an event together with the late rap icons.
"My dream one...I wanna figure out how to do 'Pac and Biggie in a way that the people are gon' love it," Swizz offered. Timbaland chimed in saying he already had something in mind. "I got you on that," he told Swizz. "I got the idea. I'ma call you later."
'Pac and Biggie, who both died in drive-by shootings half-a-year apart in 1996 and 1997, respectively, had a well-documented complicated past where they went from friends to foes. However, they are considered two of raps all-time greats. A well calculated Verzuz battle with the right people involved that highlights the rappers' great musical contributions and not the beef could be epic.
Verzuz, which pits two artists against each other in a friendly battle of hit songs, has definitely been holding it down for urban music heads.
Trey Songz Arrested After Altercation with Police at Kansas City Chiefs Game!
Trey Songz has been arrested. The Back Home rapper was taken into custody on Sunday after he was recorded getting into an altercation with a police officer at the AFC Championship Game, TMZ reports.
During the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri, Songz — whose real name is Tremaine Aldon Neverson — was filmed getting into a physical altercation with a police officer.
The outlet reports that witnesses claim Songz was being heckled by others in the stands, and asked them to be quiet. The witnesses claim a police officer allegedly got physical with the rapper without provocation and that the alleged altercation was self-defense on Songz’ part.
TMZ reports that Songz was arrested and accused of trespassing, resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.
In the video, published by the outlet, a man who is alleged to be Songz can be seen punching the officer in the head and tries to get him into a headlock before getting detained.
Rihanna And A$AP Rocky Enjoy Date Night In NYC!
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s relationship is going strong into the new year.
After spending the holidays together, the couple was spotted on a dinner date in New York City on Monday, Jan. 18. According to E! News, the singer and rapper, both 32, dined at popular Italian restaurant Emilio’s Ballato, which is owned by Katie Holmes’ boyfriend, chef Emilio Vitolo Jr.
“Rihanna arrived with a group of friends and met A$AP Rocky there,” said the source. “They entered the restaurant through different doors and tried to be discreet. A$AP Rocky entered behind a bodyguard and ducked inside quickly. Once everyone arrived, they sat together with a group of friends.”
They were there to celebrate the life of A$AP Yams. Each year, A$AP Rocky and friends host Yams Day in honor of the late A$AP Mob founder, but this year, a virtual celebration was held in the wake of the pandemic.
“Everyone gathered together for dinner and to share stories,” the source added. “There was lots of food passed around the table and laughter coming from inside. They stayed for over two hours before leaving separately. Rihanna left with friends and avoided being seen with Rocky.”

Lupita Nyong’o releasing audio version of her children’s book ‘Sulwe’!
Lupita Nyong’o released her bestselling children’s book Sulwe in 2019 to rave reviews. and the acclaimed actress is now back with a remix edition. The Black Panther star will release an audio version of the book as well as voice all the characters. Lupita tweeted, “#Sulwe is going to be an audiobook too! I loved recording the voices of all the characters. It brought back sweet memories of reading aloud with my mother. Can’t wait for you to hear it. Out Feb. 23 via @PRHAudio.
Sulwe centers around a five-year-old girl whose name means “star” in Lupita’s native Kenyan language, Luo. Illustrated by Vashti Harrison, the children’s fantasy helps a young girl see the beauty in her dark skin after taking a magic trip. Sulwe also earned a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Honor for Harrison’s artwork and an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Children’s Literary Work.
“Listening to a book read aloud is such a personal, intimate way to experience the characters and story. I wanted to narrate the audiobook for Sulwe myself in order to bring to life the characters as I had imagined them in my head when writing the book,” Nyong’o explained to People magazine.
The Hollywood actress has discussed in the past how colorism has affected her life and how she wants kids to feel great about themselves no matter their complexion. She’s previously emphasized how her mother constantly reminded her of her beauty while she was growing up.
“The character of Mama, for one, is inspired by my own mother, and it was rewarding to emulate the warmth, calm and compassion that she continues to comfort and guide me with to this day,” Nyong’0 disclosed to People, “I had so much fun performing the voices for Sulwe, her family, Night, and Day and I can’t wait for readers to hear them.”

Worst Cooks in America Season 20 Pulled After Winner Charged in Connection With Child's Death!
Ariel Robinson, the most recent winner of the Food Network series Worst Cooks in America, and her husband have been arrested for alleged homicide by child abuse involving the death of their 3-year-old foster daughter, Victoria Rose Smith.
Ariel, a 29-year-old former middle school teacher and amateur standup comedian, and husband Jerry Robinson, 34, have not commented publicly on the charges. Following their arrests, the entire 20th season of the reality show was removed from the cable channel's VOD offerings, while past seasons and season 21, which premiered earlier this month, are available to stream.
Season 20 of Worst Cooks in America is also unavailable on Discovery+, Hulu and YouTube, Deadline reported on Saturday, Jan. 23. The Food Network and parent company Discovery Networks have also not commented.
According to local TV affiliate FOX Carolina, on the afternoon of Jan. 14, police in Simpsonville, S.C. received a call about an unresponsive juvenile victim. She was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital. The local coroner identified her to be Victoria and determined the cause of her death to be multiple blunt force injuries.
On Tuesday, Jan. 19, Ariel and Jerry were both charged with homicide by child abuse, jail records show. A judge denied both bail.
The Greenville County, S.C. coroner told CBS affiliate WSPA that Victoria was a foster child. According to local NBC affiliate WYFF, the little girl spent most of her life in foster care.
"When she entered a room, all eyes were on her," her former foster mother of 10 months, Tiffany Huggins, told the TV station, "because she demanded it and she was a cutie."
She continued, tearfully, "She had the best personality and I'm not just saying that cause I was her momma, but she was just our light. She was a beautiful child, inside and out."
WYFF reported that after winning Worst Cooks in America and its $25,000 prize last August, Ariel told the station that she and her husband had recently adopted three more children. FOX Carolina said she told them she was a mother of five.
Both outlets quoted The South Carolina Department of Social Services as saying in a statement that the group "is aware of allegations and the arrests made and is investigating along with law enforcement. The agency's standard procedures in a case like this involves taking appropriate action with any children remaining in the home after evaluating safety and risk."

Two legendary titans face off in the first trailer for the new movie “Godzilla vs. Kong.”
Released on Warner Bros.’ YouTube channel Sunday morning, the trailer gives viewers their first glimpse at the ultimate showdown between Godzilla and King Kong. The two exchange blows above the ocean, with Kong knocking Godzilla into the water, only for Godzilla to fire back with his atomic heat beam.
The film’s release date was recently moved up to March 26 from May 21 after being moved around multiple times by Warner Bros due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following the Christmas Day release of “Wonder Woman 1984,” “Godzilla vs. Kong” will be one of the next tentpole films that Warner Bros. will release simultaneously in theaters and on the streaming platform HBO Max.
Legendary Pictures, the production company behind “Godzilla vs. Kong,” initially announced the project in 2015 as a crossover event between the “Godzilla” and “King Kong” franchises. This includes 2014’s “Godzilla,” 2017’s “Kong: Skull Island” and 2019’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters.” Adam Wingard, who’s best known for his horror films such as “Death Note” and “Blair Witch,” directed the film. President Biden To Overturn Military Restrictions On Transgender Service Members!
President Joe Biden plans to repeal his predecessor’s ban on openly transgender service members in the military as soon as Monday, according to multiple reports.
The new president is expected to sign an executive order overturning the ban at a ceremony with newly confirmed Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, CBS News first reported on Sunday, citing one senior Defense official and four outside advocates.
Following Biden’s announcement, Austin will reportedly order the Pentagon to return to the 2016 policy enacted by Obama-era Defense Secretary Ash Carter, which allowed transgender Americans to serve openly in the military. The new order will also direct all military branches to outline an implementation plan, according to CBS.
The White House did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment, though Biden repeatedly claimed during his campaign that he would repeal the ban once in office.
Biden reportedly wanted to wait until Austin was confirmed before overturning the ban, a person familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal. Austin’s first full day of work is Monday, which is when Biden is rumored to overturn the ban.
The new defense secretary expressed support in repealing former President Donald Trump’s transphobic policy during his Senate confirmation hearing last week.
“I truly believe … that if you’re fit and you’re qualified to serve and you can maintain the standards, you should be allowed to serve,” Austin said at his hearing on Jan. 19. “And you can expect that I will support that throughout.”
In 2017, Trump announced on Twitter his plan to ban transgender people from serving in the military “in any capacity,” blaming “tremendous medical costs and disruption” that he alleged came with employing trans service members.
In 2019, the then-president implemented the policy, which said that trans people could only enlist in the military under the sex they were assigned at birth ― reversing Carter’s policy allowing trans people to serve openly and receive gender-affirming medical care. The order prevented new trans recruits from enlisting, and forced current ones to go back into the closet.
“Ending the trans military ban is huge for trans service-members & veterans, but also for everyone who wants a future free of discrimination,” the National Center for Transgender Equality tweeted on Sunday. “We are proud to have worked on this with the Biden team and so many tireless trans advocates.”

Former Ellen Guest Who Rescued Dogs During Hurricane Florence Arrested For Involvement In Capitol Riot!
Ryan Nichols, the one-time animal hero who got the once in a lifetime chance to sit with Ellen DeGeneres on her show, is now looking at a few years in federal prison.
For those who do not remember 30-year-old Nichols, he is the man who went viral back in Aug. 2018 after letting dogs out of a flooded kennel during Hurricane Florence in North Carolina.
But on Friday, Nichols was arrested and booked into Smith County Jail, where he was charged with violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds; conspiracy and unlawful entry with a dangerous weapon; assault on a federal officer, using a deadly or dangerous weapon as well as aiding and abetting.
It was his social media that got him caught. According to a criminal complaint obtained by NBC News, videos of Nichols and a friend of his at the riots were given to the FBI by two witnesses.
The videos have since been deleted, but both men can be seen intermingled in the crowd. In one video, Nicolas is seen yelling, “This is not a peaceful protest,” while also encouraging participants to draw their weapons.
“We ain’t done yet! We just got started!” one post was captioned, while another said, “We’re in.”
Some other captions were: “Patriots stood their ground today!” and “We aren’t done yet, either!” “You want to steal our election and not hear us in court? Good! Now you’ll hear our civil unrest!”
Alex Kirk Harkrider, 33, a friend of Nichols, was arrested on Jan. 18 and charged with “violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, conspiracy and unlawful entry with a dangerous weapon, as well as aiding and abetting.”
“We’re in. 2 people killed already,” he apparently said on Snapchat NBC News reported. “We need all the patriots of this country to rally the f— up and fight for our freedom, or it’s gone forever. Give us liberty, or give us death. We won’t stand for it.”
The attorneys for both parties have not commented. But, both lawyers are arguing that there is no evidence “to prove their clients intended to harm police officers or that they had destroyed property,” People reported.
