The holidays aren't only for the little ones! In a new interview for Elle's special digital holiday edition, Mariah Carey opens up about why Christmas is such an important time for her. The singer, 50 — whose Magical Christmas Special hits Apple TV+ on Friday — described herself as "eternally 12" and said the holiday season is "maybe the one time that I got to breathe for a second."
"After I kind of emerged from my first relationship-slash-marriage [to Tommy Mottola] I created the Christmases that I wanted to have," she told the magazine, adding of her troubled childhood: "A lot of very bad stuff happened to me when I was 12. But also, there is the spirit of that kid, that fighter who doesn't give up, who does embrace who she is, even though the world didn't understand that from my point of view."
As for her annual Christmas celebration, the mother of two explained: "I literally go to a snowy place. Reindeer are there — I'm not making this up. Santa Claus comes, hangs out with the kids. And by the way, even if I didn't have kids, I would be doing this."
"I think it's just that longing that I had as a child, that I always wanted things to be perfect for the holidays. And they never were," Carey added to the magazine. "It was always somebody ruining the moment, always these dysfunctional family members who came around and foiled everything. And so I just made a pact with myself that I wasn't going to allow that to happen anymore."
With her perennial hit "All I Want for Christmas Is You" and her new star-studded special, Carey said she hopes to supply some much-needed holiday cheer after a rough 2020.
"It's been such a hard year, and I really feel like people so need a celebratory moment. At every turn, it's like, 'We can't be [together]; you can't celebrate. This is canceled; that's canceled,'" she told Elle.
"I came to [the new Christmas special] with the spirit of 'Let's make it festive no matter what,'" Carey said. "If you go into anything with that kind of hopefulness, then it'll happen."
With the craziness of the pandemic, the Magical Christmas Special will follow Carey as she helps her "great friend" Santa to save Christmas 2020. The event will feature musical performances, dancing, and animations — as well as a cameo from Carey's 9-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe (aka "Roc and Roe").

The debate over who’s the greatest rapper or rap group of all time is ongoing and will likely never cease. After all, everyone has different tastes, making the tireless conversation completely subjective and heavily based on opinion. But Juicy J is convinced he’s knows who takes the crown — and unsurprisingly, it’s his own group.
On Tuesday (December 1), the Memphis rap vet headed to Instagram where he claimed Three 6 Mafia reigned over all other rap artists.
“Who the best group ever did it ?” he asked. “THREE6 ……..The hustle continues.”
Formed in 1991, Three 6 Mafia initially consisted of Juicy J, DJ Paul, Koopsta Knicca, Crunchy Black, Lord Infamous and Gangsta Boo. Their debut album Mystic Stylez was released in 1995 and eventually became a cult classic.
As Three 6 went on to achieve mainstream success, two of their albums — 2000’s When the Smoke Clears: Sixty 6, Sixty 1 and 2005’s Most Known Unknown — were certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2006, the group became the first Hip Hop group in history to win an Oscar when they took home the gilded trophy for Best Original Song for “It’s Hard Out Here For A Pimp,” which was featured in the film Hustle & Flow.
Although Three 6 hasn’t released an album since 2008’s Last 2 Walk, Juicy J continues to thrive. In 2011, he announced he was a part-owner and A&R rep for Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang Records imprint and the following year, he signed a solo deal with Columbia Records and Dr. Luke’s Kemosabe Records but has since left.
His most recent solo album, The Hustle Continues, was released on November 27 and featured A$AP Rocky, Lil Baby, 2 Chainz, Megan Thee Stallion, his brother Project Pat, Logic, Conway The Machine and more.
Barack Obama Receives Mixed Reactions Following “Defund The Police” Comments!
Former President Barack Obama is receiving mixed reactions because of a statement that he made during an interview scheduled on Peter Hamby’s Snapchat show “Good Luck America”.
Obama addressed political candidates who use “snappy” slogans such as “defund the police,” when he said,
“You lost a big audience the minute you say it, which makes it a lot less likely that you’re actually going to get the changes you want. The key is deciding, do you want to actually get something done, or do you want to feel good among the people you already agree with?”
The phrase “defund the police” picked up traction during racial justice protests following the death of George Floyd earlier this year when a Minneapolis police officer knelt on his neck for several minutes. The death of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and other police involved killings of Black people caused the controversial phrase “defund the police” to become a large topic of debate amongst activists and in the political world. In the bigger picture, the former president does believe, however, that we should reform the criminal justice system.

Nipsey Hussle’s Alleged Killer’s Trial Pushed Back Three Months!
It’s been well over a year since Nipsey Hussle was killed outside of his Los Angeles clothing store and fans have continued to call for justice for the late rapper and entrepreneur. However, it looks like fans will have to keep waiting, as the Coronavirus pandemic has put another delay on Hussle’s court case.
Eric Holder — who is accused of shooting and killing Hussle last March — appeared in court on Tuesday (Dec. 1), where Judge Robert J. Perry said his trial would be have to be postponed for at least another three months.
“I really don’t how we can realistically expect to see this case go to trial anytime in the next 90 days or more,” Perry said. “Mr. Holder, I don’t know what to tell you except that the court system and this county are plagued by a sickness that we call the COVID virus, and the court system has been very much impacted.”
Holder’s trial was already delayed back in May due to the virus. At the time, Judge Perry reminded the 30-year-old of his right to a speedy trial.
“Mr. Holder, as you know, this is an important case and a serious case,” Perry said. “These cases take time to get ready for trial. You have the right to a speedy trial.”
However, the pandemic forced the closure of all Los Angeles County Clerk offices and courtrooms in neighboring Southern California cities.
Holder and his lawyers are expected to return to court on Jan. 21, where they will reassess the threat of the virus and the future of his trial. Perry said there’s a possibility that Holder’s case could go to trial within 30 days after that date, but added, “I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
Holder reportedly accepted the new court timeline. In addition to murder and attempted murder charges, Holder is also facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of felony possession of a firearm. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is currently being held at a prison facility in downtown Los Angeles.

Despite being engaged since March 2019, Jennifer Lopez says she and fiancé Alex Rodriguez are in "no rush" to walk down the aisle, especially amid the ongoing pandemic.
During an interview on Access Hollywood on Wednesday, the pop star revealed of their plans for the big day, “We’ve talked about so many different things because we had to cancel the wedding last year because of COVID, because of the quarantine. And we actually did it twice, which people don’t know.” She added that having her fantasy wedding ceremony isn't the biggest priority for either of them right now. “We kind of have let it go for a second and I don’t know what we’re going to do, we talk about small, big, this, that,” Lopez explained. “And I think we just feel like, let’s just wait it out. There’s no rush, we’re good, everything’s cool and it’ll happen when the time is right. I feel like it’s not a huge priority to go and have a big wedding right now, that’s not what life is about.”
The singer previously confessed on the Today Show in May that she was “a little heartbroken” over postponing their wedding "because we did have some great plans. But I’m also like, you know what? God has a bigger plan so we just have to wait and see. Maybe it's going to be better” A bigger and better plan that could potentially include a shotgun Las Vegas ceremony as Rodriguez joked on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in April that, “Some people said maybe we have a drive-thru wedding,” adding with a laugh, “It’ll be cheaper.”
‘Pretty Ricky’ Rapper Arrested For Punching Disney World Cast Member For COVID-19 Joke!
A member of “Pretty Ricky” has been busted for slugging a Disney World cast member who confronted him for joking about COVID-19, authorities said.
Spectacular Blue Smith — a rapper who is also on “Love & Hip Hop” — was entering a line for a ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando Monday night when he made a sneezing gesture and said “coronavirus,” news station WESH reported.
One of the cast members told 35-year-old Smith that he didn’t think the joke was funny, to which the reality star responded, “I thought it was.”
The worker then replied to Smith, “Then you’ll think it’s hilarious if I asked you to step out of the line,” People reported.
When the employee blocked Smith from moving further in the line, Smith punched him twice — once in the jaw and again on his right temple, authorities said.
The employee told authorities that he stumbled and fell, and claimed he “was in shock and thought he might’ve lost consciousness,” People reported.
He was brought to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion, police said.
Smith was arrested on a charge of misdemeanor battery, WESH reported. He has since posted bond.

The Verzuz franchise keeps finding ways to pull fans back in. On the heels of the recent epic battle between Gucci Mane and Jeezy’s Verzuz, which kicked off season two, comes news that two veterans in the rap game may go head to head. Swizz Beatz and Timbaland haven’t confirmed this as yet, but they also haven’t ruled out a battle between Dr. Dre and Diddy. The prospect has fans hyped.
The duo spoke with TMZ earlier today, December 2, and shared that they are not opposed to the idea of the two stalwarts duking it out Verzuz style. Even though they might be interested in that battle, they’ve made it clear that a JAY-Z and Diddy battle would not happen.
Swizz Beatz told TMZ that he’s leaving it all up to the universe. “I can’t even say what’s not gonna happen anymore. We just let the universe naturally make things happen. I’m not gonna say no, I’m never going to say no anymore!” he said.
The idea of the battle was first floated in April by Diddy while speaking on Instagram Live with Fat Joe. At that time, he said, “Yeah, we definitely talking about it. You heard it here on the show.”
There are no confirmed acts for the second battle of this season, but many artists are waiting on the call-up. T.I. is one of them, and the duo have indicated that Scott Storch and Mannie Fresh may be given a rematch. The last Verzuz battle became the most-streamed event with more than 9.1 million viewers.
What’s even more impressive is that the show pulled in better ratings than some big US television shows, including the MTV VMA’s, the Billboard Awards, the CMA’s, and even the Latin Grammy Awards.

Tyrese says there’s no more beef between him and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
During a conversation with Comedy Central’s Stir Crazy with Josh Horowitz, Tyrese opened up about his longtime feud with the fellow actor. “Me and The Rock peaced up, by the way… We talked for like four hours about three weeks ago,” he said.
He continued, “What’s interesting about ‘The Fast and The Furious’ is it’s not about any of us individually. We’re like the UN at this point. Everyone gets to go to the theater and say, ‘He and she look like me.’ If I did it with [Ludacris’ Tej], then who are we going to play off of? I could not just make it about me. I just could not.”
The bad blood between the former buds started back in 2017 when Tyrese was in a financial bind and needed the paycheck from the next franchise installment. However, Johnson ended up signing on for a solo ‘The Fast and The Furious’ spinoff, which delayed the film Tyrese was set to appear in before that one.
Johnson won’t be appearing in Fast 9, which will reportedly be released on May 28, BET.com reports.
Cardi B Sends Heartfelt Message To Young Fan Diagnosed With Brain Cancer!
On Monday (November 30), Cardi B shared the four-time brain surgery survivor's story and spoke about how she was touched by Lyric's strength and defiant joy, which she's shared with the world since she was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago.
"I've been flying and Im checking some DMs a couple people have already sent me this DM about this girl, a very strong girl named lyric," the "WAP" rapper said via her Instagram Story. "She's from Houston and she has cancer and she had about four times brain surgery."
Cardi went on to share how she became "a little bit emotional" after learning about Lyric's health journey, but added that she also felt inspired after seeing Lyric's Instagram posts, which show her smiling and dancing.
"I have a big smile on my face to see how funny you are, how pretty you are, how you put your outfits together, how you do your nails while you're fighting [cancer]," she shared. "I be thinking I be havin' it tough and other people probably think that they having it tough. [...] It definitely motivates me to whatever Im going through and I hope that people look at your page and get motivated."
Cardi then gave a shout-out to Lyrics parents, saying, "It is so heartbreaking watching the last video on your page and as a mother I wouldn’t know what to do. I commend you so much. It is so tough being a parent and I can only imagine."
The "Press" rapper concluded her message by expressing her love for Lyric and her family. "I’m totally in love with you guys and I'm gonna pray for your daughter and pray for your family," she said. "I love you guys I love Lyric and hold on the world loves you."
LeBron James And The L.A. Lakers Agree to 2-Year, $85 Million Max Contract Extension!
LeBron James has agreed to a two-year, $85 million extension with the Los Angeles Lakers. His agent Rich Paul told Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium.
According to The Bleacher Report, James is currently under contract for this season at $39.2 million. The basketball superstar had a player option for the 2021-22 season at $41.0 million, but Charania noted this extension will run through the 2022-23 season, superseding that player option and giving him a slight bump in pay.
Locking the future Hall of Famer up for a couple more years was a no-brainer move for the Lakers, as James still appears to be near the peak of his professional powers as a player even though he is 35 years old entering his 18th season in the league. James just led the Lakers to their first NBA title since 2010 and was named Finals MVP in Orlando for his incredible efforts this year.
Jada Pinkett Smith To Star As Pro Athlete Brandon Magee’s Mother In New Netflix Drama ‘Redd Zone’!
Jada Pinkett Smith will star in the upcoming Netflix drama “Redd Zone.”
“Redd Zone” is a film based on the true story of Tia Magee, a single mother who helped her sons and their high school football teammates heal after thriller best friend Dominic Redd was murdered. Eventually, the teammates, who call themselves “The Bros,” start moving in with Magee, and she ends up with a house full of 17 boys.
All of the boys go to college, and four of them make it to the NFL. Magee’s son, Brandon Magee, made it as the linebacker for the Cleveland Browns and later was later drafted by the Boston Red Sox to play outfield, Variety reports.
The film will be produced by Westbrook Studios alongside Pinkett Smith, Miguel Melendez, Jon Mone, and Emmy-nominee Howard Burkons. Brandon Magee signed on as an executive producer. The film will be dedicated to Redd’s memory.
In addition to the new drama, Pinkett Smith is currently busy working on “The Matrix 4,” and she’s also executive producing the upcoming biopic “King Richard.” And of course, she’s got her hit Facebook talk series “Red Table Talk.
Common Says Girlfriend Tiffany Haddish Wants Credit For His Abs!
Rapper and actor Common flaunted his abs in People magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive” issue, and he told Tamron Hall that his girlfriend Tiffany Haddish is part of the reason for his buff physique.
“Listen, she contributed to a certain degree, but only by inspiring… You have a great partner. You want to look good… but let’s face it, I want to be great. I knew I was going to be seen by a lot of people… Tiffany wanted to take the credit. She gets some credit, but she’s not getting all the credit,” he quipped.
And while Common says he appreciated “being celebrated as one of the sexiest men,” his journey to getting in shape was actually inspired by his dad, Lonnie Lynn, who passed away from prostate cancer in 2014.
“Seeing my father go through prostate cancer, I was inspired in ways that he, at one point, was focused on taking these Dr. Sebi herbs and really focused on his diet. And he saw the results of him living longer and living healthier even with prostate cancer,” he said. “But … unfortunately, because it probably had been further along than we had wished… [cancer] did eventually cause his death, and it made me know that I have to take care of myself.”
Common also chatted with Hall about his vegan diet, plus his YouTube health and wellness series “Com&Well.” He said he wants to encourage everyone to embrace a healthy lifestyle, but particularly “black and brown communities, because our communities have less access to health care.”
Drake Is Actually Releasing A Candle That Smells Like Himself!
Drake's Drake-scented candle is the stocking stuffer that could take your holiday gift giving to the next level!
According to InStyle, Champagne Papi teamed up with fragrance house Givaudan to create not only a candle that smells like himself but an entire line of custom candles that smell like everything he loves.
While details about the candles are sparse, the outlet reported that they are a part of the Better World Fragrance House, which is seemingly Drake's new fragrance company. The brand's first set of candles appear to be priced at $48, excluding the Drake-scented candle called Carby Musk, which is $80.
And if you're wondering what a Drake-scented candle smells like, well according to its description on Revolve, the "smooth musk fragrance is introspective as in an interpretation of your beautiful self, yet extrovertive as how you would want others to see your bold and brilliant self." It reportedly features "notes of Musk, Ambers, Cashmere, Suede, and Velvet," and "actually smells like Drake" because "it’s the personal fragrance he wears, which inspired" the entire collection of candles.
As fans know, the Canadian rapper first teased a line of scented candles on his Instagram Story back in June, posting four navy blue candles that featured gold handwriting on each one. "@betterworldfragrances Available soon cc:@ovoniko," Drake captioned the post.
Then in July, blue candles with gold writing started to appear in celebrities' Instagram stories that tagged Drake's IG handle. And in September, perfumer and fragrance expert Michael Carby of the Swiss fragrance house basically confirmed Drake's new candle venture when he revealed during an episode of Revolve U that he and his team met with Drake in Toronto and hit it off while discussing the similarities between writing songs and creating fragrances, InStyle reported.
According to the outlet, the two came up with a line of Drake-inspired candles that feature five soy wax candles, all made in Canada, that come with a gold marker to personalize the jar. The scents reportedly include Carby Musk, Good Thoughts, Williamsburg Sleepover, Muskoka, and Sweeter Tings.
While an official release date has not been announced, the candles are reportedly supposed to launch this holiday season.
