RuPaul for Cosmopolitan UK, Dec 2020/Jan 2021!
It’s 5.30pm on a Thursday evening in the UK when RuPaul Charles and Jade Thirlwall jump on a video call. RuPaul rocks up first. It’s morning where he is, in California, and they’re experiencing terrible wildfires.
Minutes later, Jade appears. Underneath her profile picture, it says Norma – she’s accidentally logged in using her mum’s account.
“Here you are!” shouts RuPaul.
“Sorry, I’ve got no idea why I’m signed in as my mam,” says Jade. RuPaul laughs hysterically.
Their conversation takes place as he’s preparing to launch the second season of Drag Race UK on the BBC. As fans will know, Jade was a guest judge on the first series and is a huge supporter of the show.
The UK version may be a relatively new phenomenon, but the franchise was born in 2009. It’s now clocked up 12 seasons in the US, and in 2018 The New York Times suggested it was “the most radical show on TV”. There are multiple international versions (it launched in Canada this year) and even yearly RuPaul’s DragCon events.
For the uninitiated, it’s a fabulous hybrid of reality TV and talent contest, where drag queens compete in various challenges. RuPaul, his friend Michelle Visage and guest judges (including Miley Cyrus and Lady Gaga) adjudicate the catwalk finale, before a lip-sync battle commences between the bottom two contestants. In September, Ru won his fifth consecutive Emmy award for Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Competition Program.
Jade and RuPaul first met at DragCon in LA in 2017. She later posted on Instagram that he had inspired her as a performer, “whilst giving me the confidence in myself I never knew I had”. And the rest is history.
So we put Jade in the hot seat, getting her to ask every nosy question we’ve always wanted answering...
Jade: I’m so glad to be talking to you.
RuPaul: I loved our time together on Drag Race UK.
Jade: It was one of the best days of my life. Getting to see you in drag was incredible. I got told off a few times [during filming] as I kept turning to talk to you. I just wanted to have a little chinwag.
RuPaul: You were wonderful and your kindness and sweetness really shone through. Because you started your major career on a competition show, you know what constructive criticism is and how to give it to [the contestants] in a way that’s sweet and kind.
Jade: I’ve always got time in the diary, Ru... whenever you want me on there, I will make space! So, tell me, what have you been doing during lockdown?
RuPaul: I like to stay busy. I work on music, my television show... But I’ve never had a problem with being alone. Even as a kid, I always felt like I was the little boy who fell to earth. I always felt like an observer.
Jade: It says a lot when you’re capable of finding happiness within yourself and not feeling like you need that constant validation of being around people.
RuPaul: If you get too wrapped up in how others see you... if you break through that, you have such a rich life.
Jade: It’s been quite nice for myself and the girls to take a step back because we are always on the go. As a pop artist, you can become very wrapped up in how you’re meant to look. Being at home for a few months gave me time to hone in on what makes me happy.
RuPaul: You’re very smart to do that. The world of pop music is different from when the curtain goes down and who you are behind the scenes. Even if you’re not a performer, if you’re in an office job, that’s like a stage, and having a life on your own is just as important. I feel like lockdown was the universe’s way of saying,“Everybody needs to spend some time in quiet. Go to your damn room. And don’t come out until you do your homework!”
Jade: You seem to strike a really good balance of keeping your relationships and career quite separate?
RuPaul: In school, my teacher told me, “Ru, don’t take life too seriously.” As I got older, I really understood what he was saying. That’s why drag is so important, because it says, “I can change my identity at a whim.” Everybody is wearing a mask. Everybody was born naked and the rest is drag.
Jade: So many drag queens I’ve met are shy and then they get on stage... I relate to that because it’s taken me a lot of time to gain the courage to completely be myself in everyday life. It wasn’t until I got on stage that I would put this persona on and channel drag queens. You really helped me to do that.
RuPaul: I think drag is like Clark Kent to Superman. Superman is about someone who has powers they haven’t quite discovered yet. And that is every human being on this planet. Everybody should do a version of their super-exaggerated drag, just to see what superpowers emerge once you put the costume on!
Jade: It’s really important for me that whoever I find relationship-wise loves drag culture. When I first started talking to my boyfriend [actor and musician Jordan Stephens], I discovered he did a movie where he played a drag queen and I was like, right, that’s it. He’s perfect. Sign me up! A straight man who’s willing to dress in drag and loves being queer and feminine.
RuPaul: I love Drag Race for that reason – watching these men give themselves permission to behave in ways that society would not let them and then watching the emotions come up. I feel so bad for men in our culture, because the rule book says that men after 13 are not supposed to show emotion. We live in a culture where men are really suffering.
Jade: Did you realise the impact that the show would have on the LGBTQ+ community?
RuPaul: I knew people would like it. Drag is a hoot. But I didn’t know it would have such a social impact! There’s so many places in the world where you’re not allowed to be gay and women aren’t allowed to have a voice. The Drag Race phenomenon is a celebration of people who have taken the opportunity, wherever they live, to express themselves. That is what the show really is about – the tenacity of the human spirit.
Jade: Who did you look up to in the drag world?
RuPaul: As a kid, I knew I would be famous. Cher, David Bowie, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton – I mixed all of those together and came up with who I would be. Early on, when I started my career in Atlanta, in 1982, it was a mecca for drag queens. Me and my friends were all punk rock – combat boots, smeared lipstick, ratty wigs and hairy chests. Then I moved to New York to make money, so I decided to glam it up. Then, when I started to get really serious and got a record deal, I did my Glamazon drag, which is what we do today. I started collaborating with the designer Zaldy in 1992 and boom! That was the beginning.
Jade: That was the year I was born, Ru.
RuPaul: [Laughs] I’ve learned so much over the years [from him]. It’s all about proportions and that’s true for everyone. You have to focus on how the human eye will interpret the silhouette.
Jade: 100%. When I first started watching Drag Race, I was telling my stylist, “I want hip pads. And I want this to be cinched. And I won’t be told otherwise!” I’ve never looked back because I’m quite rectangular and I’ve got little boobies. But I’ve learned to embrace that, and that’s what drag culture is about. A bit of padding goes a long way on stage.
RuPaul: I don’t have breasts, but when I do my push-up bra, I have the biggest boobies in the world!
Jade: Me too. Well, I like to tell myself I do.
RuPaul: And you know, I have a big old fat ass. Thanks to the scientific developments of foam rubber.
Jade: We’ve both had successful music careers. Tell me about your influences...
RuPaul: I love country music, jazz and, of course, pop music. And Motown and disco.

#HipHopNews: Kid Cudi Announces Man On The Moon III Album!
A new solo album from Kid Cudi is finally on the way.
On Monday afternoon (Oct. 26), Cudder announced the release of his forthcoming album, Man on the Moon III. In a visual shared on his Twitter page, which features a video montage of the Cleveland rapper in the beginning, a silhouette of Cudi can be seen staring at what appears to be a blood moon. Seemingly metaphoric for his new album.
Faint chants of "Cudi" can also be heard in the background as he lights either a cigarette or a blunt.
The visual closes out with the roman numeral three and the phrase, "The trilogy continues." The social media post is also captioned, "THE TRILOGY CONTINUES..."
While there was no official release date offered, the rhymer notes that the effort will be arriving "soon."
The news of the third installment to Kid Cudi's Man on the Moon album series likely comes as a surprise to his fans as Cudi said four years ago that he didn't feel compelled to drop a third offering, which would make MOTM a trilogy.
"And I don’t even feel obligated to do Man on the Moon 3 anymore," he said in an interview with Billboard back in 2016. "As of right now, people should just get that off their mind. That’s not ever going to happen. It’d be different if the first two were platinum. They’re not even platinum! Man on the Moon 1 is like 860,000 sold. It’s hanging on by a thread."
Back in April, Cudi teased new music, but fans were possibly under the impression that the snippets would appear in full on his Entergalactic album, which he announced in July of 2019. At the time, the "Day 'N' Nite" rapper also shared that he would be executive producing, starring, writing as well as doing the soundtrack for a Netflix series based on the aforementioned LP. Kid Cudi is working in tandem with Kenya Barris, creator and executive producer of ABC's Black-ish, on the project.
Man on the Moon III will be Cudi's first solo album since Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin', which came out in 2016.
Amy Coney Barrett Has Been Confirmed To Supreme Court!
The Senate has voted 52-48 to confirm Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court, just about a week before Election Day and 30 days after she was nominated by President Trump to fill the seat of the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
In a White House ceremony following the vote Monday evening, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas administered the constitutional oath to Coney Barrett.
President Trump spoke at the event, thanking Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and calling today a "momentous day" for America, the constitution and the rule of law. He also praised Barrett's intellect and poise during the confirmation process. Several Republican senators were also in attendance.
Barrett must still take the judicial oath. While Senate Democrats tried to slow down the confirmation process of Trump's third Supreme Court nominee with various procedural maneuvers, the fact that Republicans control the Senate has always meant a Barrett confirmation was all but promised.
"The Senate is doing the right thing. We're moving this nomination forward, and, colleagues, by tomorrow night we'll have a new member of the United States Supreme Court," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said on Sunday.
Democrats railed against the advancement of Barrett's nomination so close to Election Day, after the Republican-led Senate in 2016 refused to hold hearings for then-President Barack Obama's nominee, Merrick Garland, nearly eight months before that year's election.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., labeled the nomination process a "cynical power grab."
"Nearly every Republican in this chamber led by the majority leader four years ago refused to even consider the Supreme Court nomination of a Democratic president on the grounds ... that we should wait until after the presidential election because the American people deserved a voice in the selection of their next justice," he said on Sunday.
"My colleagues, there is no escaping this glaring hypocrisy. As I said before, no tit-for-tat convoluted, distorted version of history will wipe away the stain that will exist forever with this Republican majority and with this Republican leader."
Barrett's nomination cleared a procedural hurdle Sunday afternoon when the Senate voted to end debate on the nomination, days after Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee boycotted a vote to advance Barrett's nomination.
The only Republicans who voted against the cloture motion on Sunday were Sens. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska.
On Saturday, Murkowski previewed her intentions, saying she planned to vote against moving the nomination forward procedurally but would vote to confirm Barrett on Monday.
"While I oppose the process that led us to this point, I do not hold it against her, as an individual who has navigated the gauntlet with grace, skill and humility," she said.
Collins faces a tough reelection battle and said after Ginsburg's death in September that whoever wins the presidential election should fill the Supreme Court vacancy.
The 48-year-old judge's confirmation solidifies the court's conservative majority, potentially shaping the future of abortion rights and health care law for generations.

This year's awards could mark the first solo AMA prize for former One Direction member Harry Styles, with his Fine Line up for favorite album - pop/rock. Additionally, Kanye West could win his first AMA award in 12 years if he triumphs in the favorite artist - contemporary inspirational category. And Juice WRLD, who died on Dec. 8 of last year, could win his first AMA award posthumously in the category of favorite male artist - rap/hip-hop. If BTS wins favorite social artist, they will have won in that category for the third year in a row.
This year, the American Music Awards have expanded their latin and R&B/Hip-Hop categories to add favorite male and female artist in rap/hip-hop and favorite male and female artist, album and song in Latin.

Tyler Perry Suggests He is Hiring New Writers & Directors!
After getting a great deal of criticism rather than using a writer’s space for some of his displays, Tyler Perry may have experienced a change of heart.
He explained during a recent interview he looks ahead to letting”new, exciting gift” to direct the rankings in directing and writing his endeavors, providing him a opportunity to take a step backwards.
Michelle Sneed, the president of development and production to Tyler Perry Studios, additionally included:
“We are super excited about the youthful, up-and-coming filmmakers and fresh authors that we are working with. Tyler has solidified his position in the market; his new is so amazing, and we are going to continue to develop that. Then on the opposite side, we are focusing on boosting, offering a system and advocating with this new gift, both in front of and behind the camera”
Tyler Perry gained plenty of attention once he disclosed he is the sole author for his endeavors. He shared a movie of broadcasts for a couple of shows and stated:
“I do not know whether you understand this, but most of shows on tv have a writers area. And the majority of the time you will find 10 individuals, 12, anything, that compose on those tv shows. Well, I don’t have any authors area. Nobody writes some of my job. I write everything. Why Can I tell you ? I wrote all these scripts in 2019. What is my purpose? Work ethic!”
He showed his composing distance as he reacted to this criticism. He composed:
“My authors room!!! To the countless that are enjoying everything I do and see my shows weekly, do not worry, I ai not quitting!!! Do not forget. The Haves and the Have Nots yields tonight on @owntv and The Oval and Sistas reunite tomorrow on @BET!!”
#Condolences: Jamie Foxx Mourns Loss Of Sister Deondra Dixon!
Jamie Foxx is mourning the loss of his sister. On Monday, the Oscar-winning actor revealed that his younger sister, DeOndra Dixon, has passed away. According to PEOPLE, Dixon died Oct. 19 at the age of 36. A heartbroken Foxx posted a series of photos of him and his sister on Instagram along with a loving tribute.
“My heart is shattered into a million pieces… my beautiful loving sister Deondra has transitioned…” he wrote. “I say transitioned because she will always be alive… anyone who knew my sis… knew that she was a bright light…”
He also recalled fond memories of his little sister, who would steal the show with her dance moves. “I can’t tell you how many times we have had parties at the house where she has got on the dance floor and stolen the show… even gave her boyfriend @chrisbrownofficial a run for his money…”
Foxx continued to share his grief over the devastating loss. “Well I know she is in heaven now dancing with her wings on…tho my pain is unbelievable I smile when I think of all of the great memories that she left me… my family… and her friends… from dancing in the blame it video… to Dancing on the Grammys… And becoming The ambassador to @globaldownsyndrome… from sliding down my stairs with a grin as wide as the rio grand… to serenading us with all of her music…”
“Deondra you have left A hole in my heart… but I will fill it with all of the memories that you gave me … I love you with every ounce of me… our family is shattered but we will put the pieces back together with your love… and y’all please keep my family in your prayers…”

Peacock in Final Talks to Reboot ‘NY Undercover’ Proposed Crime Solver Set 20 Years After the Original!
Crime solver “NY Undercover,” which originally aired for four seasons on Fox (from 1994 to 1999), is about to be officially announced as an upcoming reboot on stream Peacock. From Universal Television, the project is being spearheaded by “The Chi” showrunner Ayanna Flloyd David and Dick Wolf, and is described as re-examination of the original series, reflecting the current times.
The time frame is 20 years after the end of the original series. The original series starred Malik Yoba and Michael DeLorenzo as undercover detectives, and was the first police drama on U.S. television to feature two people of color in the lead roles. It is unclear yet whether it will feature characters from the original series
Cardi B Calls Out Those Who Say Black Women Are Devaluing Birkin Bags!
Cardi B is calling out some of her fans after she noticed that some posts on social media claimed that her fave Hermes Birkin bags are “losing their value” because they’re accessible to her and other black and Hispanic people.
“I’ve been seeing this tweet right. It had me and it had other female rappers on it. They were talking about if we could get Birkins from the HermΓ©s store and they [were] also saying how we depreciate the value of a HermΓ©s Birkin bag. I find that really interesting because, first thing first, I definitely could get a bag. Actually, I got four bags today from the HermΓ©s store,” Cardi says in the video.
She went on, calling out those who are questioning Black women who “could get a bag from the HermΓ©s store” because “y’all don’t do this to these white celebrities.”
“So why is it that y’all gotta be asking us? What the f***? It just makes you want to brag like, ‘B**** do you know who the f*** you’re talking to?’ But no, I’m not even going to take it there,” she said.
Cardi herself has many Birkin bags, almost one in each color available and recently showed them off on her Instagram. The bags retail from $12,000 and up.
“Another thing is that they’re saying we’re depreciating the value,” she pointed out about the criticism about Black women getting the bags. “Actually, we add value because when we mention brands in hip-hop, s*** go up.”
Cardi continued, “And another thing is, why when a Black girl, why when a Hispanic girl [has] a bag you have to question it? ‘Oh is it fake?’ or ‘She’s a scammer’ or ‘She’s f***ing a n***** for it,’” the star said. “There’s a lot of boss-ass b****es out here. There’s b****es that’s getting money out here.”
New Sneak Peek At DC Comics’ Batgirl Reveals New Details About The CW’s New Batwoman Ryan Wilder!
“One thing ends, another begins,” indeed. Batgirl’s ongoing series is coming to an end after almost five years with a giant-sized final issue. And, true to the axiom, the finale is closing one door and opening another.
In a first look at the climactic issue #50, DC reveals they are introducing The CW’s creation and new Batwoman Ryan Wilder to the comics. Usually, this kind of thing waits but they admit they are getting right to it.
“If you’re curious when you might be seeing Wilder in the comics, the answer is…pretty much right now,” says the description teasing the finale and Wilder’s debut.
It continues, “You can catch the scrappy hero-to-be’s first comic book appearance in Batgirl #50—and in our exclusive first look at the issue.”
Wilder is an original character dreamed up by Batwoman showrunner Caroline Dries. Held down by the system, she desires to fight back against perceived oppression, as Dries has explained.
Wilder also lives in a van with a plant, just not down by the river – preferring it to shelters in Gotham. We find this out immediately when she shows up on page 7. She also dislikes that dreary old Gotham, in turmoil from the Joker War, is being gentrified.
And Wilder has a connection to Barbara, knowing her from the Gotham Library. Wilder read every book there and in one other notable detail, she can code, or at least took a class.
Barbara, working for a Congresswoman and wanting to fix Gotham any way she can, is caught up in the social issues presented in the book more so than Wilder. She joins hands with protesters and inner-monologues about homelessness and voter registration, among other things.
From gentrification to protests and toppling of statues, Batgirl’s last issue is ripping stuff straight out of the headlines. Is it to be edgy and relevant? You decide.
It’s uncertain if the Ryan Wilder of comics will suit up as Batwoman or some other vigilante but that’s what she is going to do in Batwoman Season 2, premiering in 2021.
Wilder actress Javicia Leslie replaces the outgoing Ruby Rose. Although Rose is gone from the show, Kate Kane isn’t getting killed off. Kane instead will be written out in a mysterious-disappearance angle.
Wendy Williams Speaks Out Amid Concerns Over Her On-Air Behavior!
Wendy Williams has a message for her fans. During the Monday (October 26) episode of The Wendy Williams Show, the 56-year-old talk show host issued a statement, seemingly addressing her on-air behavior after fans raised concerns about her health when she struggled to speak during the Friday (October 23) episode of her talk show.
“I come here every day and I try to do the best that I can for you. I appreciate you watching, but even after all of these years, it’s still work and effort put in for the hour that I’m out here with you," she said on Monday. "I guess every day is not perfect, but I am not a perfectionist. I am not perfect, but I do appreciate you putting in effort to watch us."
"I love entertaining you and it's not easy. It is not easy," Williams added. "You're a tough crowd."
During Friday's episode, Wendy called Adele "Ho-dele," took long pauses before speaking, slurred her words, and trailed off mid-sentence a few times, causing fans to speculate about her sobriety.
“Look at her eyes,” one fan commented after the episode was uploaded to YouTube. “Poor woman it’s so obvious that she’s high.” Another added, “On a serious note I think Wendy has relapsed and is depressed deep down because of the divorce and then being quarantined ALONE by herself!”
Wendy's former DJ, DJ Boof, also spoke out about her on-air behavior after the Friday episode, replying to an Instagram user's comment that claimed that Wendy needed to stop her show and "seriously get help."
"Y'all have no idea what’s really going on and everyone there is afraid to speak up because they don’t wanna lose their jobs.. this is going to play out bad," DJ Boof wrote "I feel sorry for the workers and victims."
In March 2019, Wendy revealed that she was living in a sober house, telling viewers, “You know I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in my past. I never went to a place to get the treatment. I don’t know how, except God was sitting on my shoulder and I just stopped.”
Lizzo Debuts New Look: 'Y'all Can't Handle Red Lizzo'!
Lizzo is red hot! On Sunday (October 26), the "Truth Hurts" singer took to social media to show off her now fiery red, curly hairdo. "Y’all can’t handle red Lizzoπ¦ hair by @theshelbyswain," Lizzo captioned an Instagram video that showed her flaunting her new look while wearing a black Savage x Fenty bra and panty set.
Celebrity hairstylist Shelby Swain, who Lizzo credited for her red locks, previously opened up about working with the 32-year-old singer, telling E! News in June 2019, "Lizzo normally tells me an idea and I always run with it. Like, 'Shelby, I wanna wear all wood grain!' So I'm like, 'Well then, let's paint your hair wood grain too!' We like to play."
Last month, Lizzo spoke to Vogue about how her style choices are often "instantly political" because of her appearance.
"I think that I was politicized because of the things that I wore," Lizzo said during her Vogue "73 Questions" video series. "Being a big Black woman, wearing what I wore onstage was instantly political and it made a statement and I’m grateful for that."
While she admitted it "was annoying at first," Lizzo said she now appreciates being a part of the ongoing body positivity movement. "I’m so grateful to be a part of moving the conversation in fashion-forward for bigger bodies and Black women," she said.
TikTok Star Quenlin Blackwell, 19, Sparks Concern For Living With Diplo, 41!
TikTok star Quenlin Blackwell revealed she's been living with Diplo "for over a year," and fans are pretty concerned.
Earlier this week, the 19-year-old's fans were disturbed to learn about her living arrangement and apparent friendship with the 41-year-old record producer. However, Quenlin, who boasts 1.7+ million Twitter followers, said Diplo has been supporting her for a while.
“I live with Diplo right now, and he fully supports my endeavors,” Quenlin revealed in a recent social media post (via JustJared), which drew mixed reactions from fans considering the 22-year age difference between the two stars.
“The fact that Diplo was friends with that Quenlin girl when she was freshly 18 or even before then??? I’m sick to my stomach,” one follower tweeted, as another added, “That quenlin diplo living situation is weird and inappropriate idc idc.”
Despite fans' concern, Quenlin defended herself against allegations of “being groomed” by the musician, and later released a statement explaining that she and Diplo have only a “platonic” relationship and nothing more.
“I’d rather break both of my legs and before forced to walk than pursue Diplo romantically and he’d rather choke. He’s barley [sic] in LA bc he’s so busy,” she shared on Twitter. "Diplo has given me the opportunity and security to create. Diplo and his team are my mentors in LA and they are my safety net."
She continued, “Diplo and his team have saved me numerous times from the weirdos in LA. My parents trust him. I trust him. Y’all are making me feel icky. Diplo is my LA dad..nothing more.”
Diplo also gave some much-needed clarity on the situation, denying any claims that they live together. “I rent one of my properties to [Quenlin]. And yes I use the studio that is in that building," he explained. "There is nothing but a friendship between us.”

Last season, Beckham’s first in Cleveland, he had 74 catches for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns. The Browns are 5-2 after Sunday’s win.
Jared Kushner Says ‘Complaining’ Black Americans Must ‘Want To Be Successful’!
Jared Kushner, son-in-law and top adviser to Trump, faces criticism on Monday about comments made during an appearance on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.”
“One thing we’ve seen in a lot of the Black community, which is mostly Democrat, is that President Trump’s policies are the policies that can help people break out of the problems that they’re complaining about,” Kushner said during his appearance. “But he can’t want them to be successful more than they want to be successful.”
The White House aide’s controversial comments came in response to a question about a meeting with rapper Ice Cube on Trump’s Platinum Plan for Black America.
The plan aims to win over the Black vote, something Trump has struggled with this election cycle. In a recent New York Times-Siena poll, 90 percent of Black respondents said they had already or intended to vote for Biden, compared to just 4 percent for Trump. Republicans historically have a harder time garnering votes within the Black community.
The comments are telling of how the administration really feels about Black Americans. An administration that has repeatedly been called racist, which they’ve denied.
Trump has touted record-low unemployment rates, prison reform, record HBCU funding, and higher wages amongst Black Americans during this election cycle to appeal to Black voters.
These comments come just eight days before the presidential election when his father in law is grasping for last-minute votes. Nationwide polls consistently show Trump is trailing Democratic nominee Joe Biden.
The backlash was so swift, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany issued a statement to the Hill denouncing “internet trolls” serving up criticism.
“It’s disgusting to see internet trolls taking Senior Advisor Jared Kushner out of context as they try to distract from President Trump’s undeniable record of accomplishment for the Black community,” McEnany’s statement said.
