Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Apollo Nida‘s fiancee Sherien Almufti swears he didn’t violate his halfway house probation terms, despite the fact that he was taken into custody for allegedly breaking a “technical requirement” just nine days
"They can’t stop us babe!!! For those who are confused @apollonida03 didn’t violate a goddamn thing. Another crime against a black man in the system. Jealously is a disease and his PO will die mad!!" Sherien, 36, captioned an Instagram photo of herself kissing Apollo on the cheek on June 14.
Apollo fiancee denial
Fans were quick to point out that while it was admirable of her to defend her man, posting on social media could impact future legal proceedings.
"No shade baby girl but you shouldn’t comment on an ongoing case. It could make matters worse for him. However I hope justice prevails for both of you. Sending prayers," one user wrote.
Apollo, 40, was living in a Philadelphia halfway house before being sent to the Philadelphia FDC, an administrative security federal detention center. He potentially could be kept in custody until October 15, 2019.
#Empire: BREAKING, Empire Actor Arrested Bryshere Gray arrested on misdemeanor charge in Chicago
Another Empire actor has been arrested in Chicago, but this time on a traffic-related offense. Police spokeswoman Karie James said Monday that Bryshere Gray, who plays a younger brother of Jussie Smollett's character on the Chicago-based Fox TV show, was pulled over Thursday because a temporary license plate didn't match the 2014 Rolls Royce he was driving, reports the AP.
She says he was arrested on a misdemeanor registration charge and ticketed for driving an uninsured vehicle and failure to carry a driver's license. TMZ has his mugshot. James says the 25-year-old Gray isn't in custody, but it wasn't immediately clear when he was released.

#RIP Fashion Icon Gloria Vanderbilt, heiress, jeans queen, dies at 95!
Gloria Vanderbilt, the intrepid heiress, artist and romantic who began her extraordinary life as the "poor little rich girl" of the Great Depression, survived family tragedy and multiple marriages and reigned during the 1970s and '80s as a designer jeans pioneer, died Monday at the age of 95.
Vanderbilt was the great-great-granddaughter of financier Cornelius Vanderbilt and the mother of CNN newsman Anderson Cooper, who announced her death via a first-person obituary that aired on the network Monday morning.
Cooper said Vanderbilt died at home with friends and family at her side. She had been suffering from advanced stomach cancer, he noted.
"Gloria Vanderbilt was an extraordinary woman, who loved life, and lived it on her own terms," Cooper said in a statement. "She was a painter, a writer, and designer but also a remarkable mother, wife, and friend. She was 95 years old, but ask anyone close to her, and they'd tell you, she was the youngest person they knew, the coolest, and most modern."
Her life was chronicled in sensational headlines from her childhood through four marriages and three divorces. She married for the first time at 17, causing her aunt to disinherit her. Her husbands included Leopold Stokowski, the celebrated conductor, and Sidney Lumet, the award-winning movie and television director. In 1988, she witnessed the suicide of one of her four sons.
Tributes online came from celebrities and fans of her clothes alike. Alyssa Milano called her "an incredible woman," Dana Delany said she treasures one of Vanderbilt's paintings and model Carol Alt hailed her as a "fashion icon and innovator." And one Twitter user mourned by remembering the canary Vanderbilt jeans she wore in junior high school.
Vanderbilt was a talented painter and collagist who also acted on the stage ("The Time of Your Life" on Broadway in 1955) and television ("Playhouse 90," ''Studio One," ''Kraft Theater," ''U.S. Steel Hour"). She was a fabric designer who became an early enthusiast for designer denim. The dark-haired, tall and ultra-thin Vanderbilt partnered with Mohan Murjani, who introduced a $1 million advertising campaign in 1978 that turned the Gloria Vanderbilt brand with its signature white swan label into a sensation.
At its peak in 1980, it was generating over $200 million in sales. And decades later, famous-name designer jeans — dressed up or down — remain a woman's wardrobe staple.
Vanderbilt wrote several books, including the 2004 chronicle of her love life: "It Seemed Important at the Time: A Romance Memoir," which drops such names as Errol Flynn, whom she dated as a teenager; Frank Sinatra, for whom she left Stokowski; Marlon Brando and Howard Hughes.
She claimed her only happy marriage was to author Wyatt Cooper, which ended with his death in 1978 at age 50. Son Anderson Cooper called her memoir "a terrific book; it's like an older 'Sex and the City.'"
"I've had many, many loves," Vanderbilt told The Associated Press in a 2004 interview. "I always feel that something wonderful is going to happen. And it always does."
Noting her father's death when she was a toddler, she said: "If you don't have a father, you don't miss it, because you don't know what it is. It was really only when I married Wyatt Cooper that I understood what it was like to have a father, because he was just an extraordinary father."
In 2016, Vanderbilt and Anderson Cooper appeared together in the HBO documentary "Nothing Left Unsaid."
Gloria Laura Madeleine Sophie Vanderbilt was born in 1924, a century after her great-great-grandfather started the family fortune, first in steamships, later in railroads. He left around $100 million when he died in 1877 at age 82.
Her father, Reginald Claypoole Vanderbilt, was 43, a gambler and boozer dying of liver disease when he married Gloria Morgan, 19, in 1923. Their daughter was 1 when Vanderbilt died in 1925, having gone through $25 million in 14 years.
Beneficiary of a $5 million trust fund, Vanderbilt became the "poor little rich girl" in 1934 at age 10 as the object of a custody fight between her globe-trotting mother and matriarchal aunt.
The aunt, Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, 59, who controlled $78 million and founded the Whitney Museum of American Art, won custody of her niece.
#LGBTQ: Ciara Responds To Criticism For Appearing In Video With Same Sex Couple: “Christians Don’t Judge!”
Singer Ciara is catching heat for her recent appearance in Taylor Swift‘s new music video. In the star-studded LGBT-friendly visual for Taylor’s latest single, “You Need to Calm Down,” Ciara officiates the vow renewal of “Modern Family” actor Jesse Tyler and podcast host Justin Mikita.
Ciara posted a clip of her cameo with the following caption:
“@ciara @JesseTyler @JustinMikita. Wedding is Lit #Equality #YNTCDmusicvideo”
Apparently a follower didn’t appreciate Ciara’s support of the LGBT community. @lucas_norton101 commented this under CiCi’s post:
“Ciara. You shouldn’t be doing this. We respect u too much, Being at a gay wedding is one thing and joining them together is even more a greater sin. We love you but this is wrong.”
The “Thinking ‘Bout You” singer clapped back with a cheeky comment using the video’s title:
“Firstly, Christians don’t judge. Secondly, #YouNeedToCalmDown”
And there’s that!
Cuba Gooding Jr. Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Comedian Claudia Oshry When She Was 16
Accusations are pouring in against Cuba Gooding, Jr. The actor was recently charged with forcible touching after being accused of groping a woman’s breasts at a New York club, two other women have come forth claiming to have had inappropriate contact with Cuba. Another woman at Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge also claims she was touched without consent – an accusation he denies.
Shockingly, comedienne/social media star Claudia Oshry claims Cuba Gooding, Jr. sexually assaulted when she was 16-years-old. She described her incident with Cuba on her podcast, “The Morning Toast.” She told listeners:
“At the end of the day, like, I don’t know if I’ve ever considered myself to be, like, a victim of sexual assault because I’m not. There are people who are real victims that I would never compare myself to them. But yes, when I was in high school — I was f*cking 16 years old — Cuba Gooding Jr. put his finger up my butt, and I felt wild. Like, I felt— I don’t even know what the right word is. And now, it’s just become, like, a part of who I am. It’s a part of my story.”
She says that the alleged incident has become a memorable part of her routine in her “Dirty Jeans Comedy Tour.” She said:
“You want to put your finger up my butt without my consent? Fine. But I’m going to use it for all that it’s worth. It’s become, like, this really funny bit in my story.”
But, Claudia claims this was no isolated incident. The comedienne says that other women have approached her, also claiming to have been violated by Cuba Gooding, Jr. She added:
“At the end of the day, when I tell people this at my meet-and-greets and just anyone who’s ever come to my show, there’s, like, at least once every show, someone who comes up to me, they’re like, ‘Oh my God! Me and my friends were at a club and the same thing happened to me’ or ‘the same thing happened to my friend. This is not the first time that I’ve heard, but this is the first time I’ve heard that police are involved.”
Claudia Oshry applauded the anonymous victim for reporting Cuba to police, explaining why she chose not to report him as a teenager:
“Good on this girl. Because how many f*cking people is he going to grope before one of them calls the police? Mine was 10 years ago! I know why I didn’t go to the police because I was like a kid who was 16, underage at a club and I thought I was going to get in trouble for being in the club. So, I just shut my mouth.”
Cuba Gooding, Jr.’s lawyer, Mark Heller, denies all allegations. In response to Claudia, he gave this statement:
“Cuba says this incident never happened and he has no recollection of this individual either.”
What do you think of the latest allegations against Cuba Gooding, Jr.?
Ava DuVernay, Gayle King & Oprah Don’t Want To Be Called ‘Auntie’
Social media was buzzing over the weekend about a new article published by Oprah Magazine explaining why Ava DuVernay, Gayle King and Oprah Winfrey do not want the public referring to them as “Auntie.”
Ava was the first to reveal she doesn’t like it. During an interview with Van Lathan, she said:
Auntie Ava? Why? Am I that old?! Because I don’t feel that old! And it’s not a respect thing…Auntie Ava, like…Aunt Jemima?
Oprah said being called “Auntie” outside of Africa makes her cringe:
I cringe being called Auntie or Mama by anybody other than my nieces or godchildren.
Except if I’m in Africa, where it’s custom for everybody to refer to anyone older as ‘Sister’ or ‘Auntie,’ depending on the age difference. And there no one refers to anyone older by their first name, out of respect.
Umm, isn’t that the same thing we are doing here in the U.S.?!
Gayle says she flat out hates being called Auntie and added that no one calls BeyoncΓ© “Auntie.”
I hate being called Auntie. That’s what you say to old people or the old lady who lives in the neighborhood!
I get that it’s a sign of respect, but no one’s calling BeyoncΓ© ‘Auntie BeyoncΓ©!’
The only ones who should be calling me ‘Aunt’ are my niece and nephew – and they don’t add the ie.

Lakers Say Goodbye To Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram And Josh Hart, Hello To Anthony Davis in New Trade!
Anthony Davis is on his way to Los Angeles after the Lakers shook up the NBA in a trade for the former Pelicans superstar.
On Saturday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Lakers acquired Davis from New Orleans, in exchange for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round draft pick.
Apparently, Davis and his agent informed the Pelicans that he wouldn’t be extending his contract back in January and at that time they requested a trade.
After hearing that his son would no longer be playing for the Lakers, LaVar Ball wasted no time letting everyone know it was the “worst move” the team could make.
“I guarantee: Like I say again, it will be the worst move the Lakers ever did in their life and they will never win another championship,” LaVar Ball told ESPN.
While there are many that agree with Ball and consider the trade to be the loss of three young stars on the roster, LeBron James, believes that it’s “just the beginning” for him and his future teammate, Anthony Davis.
James shared his excitement on Instagram, with a photo of the two in purple and gold.
“Ad on da way,” he wrote. “Let’s get it bro! Just the beginning #LakeShow.”
Davis will be joining James in rebuilding a team that hasn’t made it to the playoffs in six straight seasons. With two of the best forwards in the league, the Lakers are expected to be a force to be reckoned with.
According to Bleacher Report, the deal will be completed by July 6.
Police say two shot as 1.5m pack Toronto streets for Raptors' title parade!
Toronto police say two people were shot as Toronto Raptors fans packed the city’s downtown to watch the NBA team’s championship victory parade. Police said two people had sustained serious, but non-life threatening injuries, in the incident. They added that two people had been taken into custody, and the parade was resumed after a short delay.
An estimated 1.5 million fans attended the parade to celebrate the Raptors’ victory over the Golden State Warriors, the first time a non-US team has won the NBA title.
The parade route ended in a square outside City Hall, where police lifted those seeking safety over barricades to help them escape the crush. A child pulled over a barrier and onto a stretcher was among those evacuated. City officials prevented any further entry into the square and shut down several subway stations near the parade due to overcrowding.
Toronto’s mayor, John Tory, previously urged every resident celebrate the Raptors’ championship and declared Monday “We The North Day” in Toronto, after the franchise’s slogan. Canada’s prime minister, Justin Trudeau, was scheduled to attend, as was the Ontario premier, Doug Ford. Rapper and Toronto native Drake, among the Raptors’ best-known fans, celebrated alongside the players on one of the parade buses.
Nicolas Caramanna said the crowd started to get rowdy shortly after he arrived at 9am. “I’m really hot and tired, but I’m going to stick around,” he said. “When else am I going to get a chance to do this?”
Many others chose to miss school or work. Fifteen-year-old Cypher Sabanal said his mother let him skip class to attend the celebration. “I actually have exams this week, but being here is worth it,” he said.
John Moreira called in sick to work so he could be part of Toronto’s first celebration of this magnitude since the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series in 1993. “I told my boss I wanted to be at the parade and he said there wasn’t much he could do if I called in sick, so that’s exactly what I did,” the 31-year-old said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the whole team. They all work so hard and deserve all the fans being out here.”
The Raptors players were clearly touched by the huge turnout. “It’s been amazing,” Kawhi Leonard, who was named the NBA finals most valuable player, said. “Thank you Toronto, thank you Canada for the support, we did it.” Fans were seen carrying signs imploring Leonard to re-sign with the Raptors. The two-time Finals MVP will be a free agent this summer.
Kyle Lowry, the team’s longest-serving member, hoisted the Larry O’Brien Trophy while his teammates smoked cigars. “This is unbelievable,” he said.
#TECHNEWS: Gmail Goes Down In Second Sizable Outage To Hit Google This Month!
Users of Gmail — from individuals to large corporations — were left in the lurch for a chunk of the day Monday due to an outage on the Google platform, the second snag of the past two weeks.
The flare-up affected mostly incoming emails, prompting waves of Twitter messages with the “#Gmaildown” hashtag before service for most users was largely restored.
“The problem with Gmail should be resolved,” the company posted at just past 3 p.m. ET on one of its service sites. “We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support. Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.” It added, “Affected messages will be retried and delivered with additional delays.”
The website Down Detector, which monitors such things, showed ongoing Gmail problems toward the end of the work day on the East Coast on Monday. The biggest flareups, though, occurred between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. ET.
On June 2, Google confirmed a four-hour outage that hit Gmail, as well as YouTube, Google Calendar and a host of other services. (The more integrated into daily life the tech giant becomes, the wider the impact of glitches like that — the Nest thermostat, for example, was also affected in that case.) The culprit, according to the company: “high levels of network congestion in the eastern USA.”
As to the Monday issues, a Google rep did not immediately respond to Deadline’s email request for comment. The company did not appear to have posted any messages with updates or acknowledgements of the disruption.
While the U.S. appeared to be the hardest-hit region, a real-time map on Down Detector showed trouble in the UK, Western Europe and Mexico.

If you don’t know, Diplo has two sons: Lazer, 5, and Lockett, 9.
Barack Obama Spent Father's Day in France With His Daughters
Former President Barack Obama took his Father's Day abroad while on a family vacation in the south of France.
44 was seen with wife, Michelle, and daughters Malia and Sasha as they began the day doing a little sightseeing at the Palais des Papes in Avignon, the biggest gothic palace in the world built in the 1300s.
The Obama's then headed to dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant, La Mirande, for a Father's Day meal. The restaurant was awarded one Michelin star this year.
According to the establishment's website, La Mirande "delivers all the richness of its secular heritage."
20-year-old Malia looked stunning in a white backless jumpsuit with a criss-cross halter neckline.
The Harvard student wore her long braided hair pulled back in a loose bun. She accented the white out fit with a small red leather bag that really tied the whole ensemble together.
18-year-old Sasha, who is a spitting image of Michelle, wore a yellow snake print sundress that she paired with some white sneakers.
Sasha just graduated from high school on June 12 and is planning on attending college at the University of Michigan.
Egypt’s ousted president Mohammed Morsi dies in court during trial
CAIRO (AP) — Egypt’s first democratically elected president, Islamist leader Mohammed Morsi, who was ousted by the military in 2013 after a year in office, collapsed in court while on trial Monday and died, state TV and his family said.
The 67-year-old Morsi had just addressed the court, speaking from the glass cage he is kept in during sessions and warning that he had “many secrets” he could reveal, a judicial official said. A few minutes afterward, he collapsed in the cage, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to the press.
In his final comments, he continued to insist he was Egypt’s legitimate president, demanding a special tribunal, one of his defense lawyers, Kamel Madour told the Associated Press. State TV said Morsi died before he could be taken to the hospital.
Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood accused the government of “assassinating” him through years of poor prison conditions. Morsi, who was known to have diabetes, had been imprisoned since his 2013 ouster, often in solitary confinement and barred from visitors — his family was allowed to visit only three times during that time. Egypt’s chief prosecutor said Morsi’s body would be examined to determine the cause of his death.
It was a dramatic end for a figure who was central in the twists and turns taken by Egypt since its “revolution” — from the pro-democracy uprising that in 2011 ousted the country’s longtime authoritarian leader, Hosni Mubarak, through controversial Islamist rule and now back to a tight grip under the domination of military men.
The Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt’s most powerful Islamist group, won the elections held after Mubarak’s fall, considered the first free votes the country had seen. First, they gained a majority in parliament, then Morsi squeaked to victory in presidential elections held in 2012, becoming the first civilian to hold the office.
Critics accused the Brotherhood of using violence against opponents and seeking to monopolize power and Islamize the state. Massive protests grew against their rule, until the military — led by then-Defense Minister, Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi — ousted Morsi in July 2013, dissolved parliament and eventually banned the Brotherhood as a “terrorist group.”
El-Sissi was elected president and re-elected in 2018 in votes human rights groups sharply criticized as undemocratic. He has waged a ferocious crackdown that crushed the Brotherhood but also almost all other dissent, arresting tens of thousands, banning protests and silencing most criticism in the media.
Since his ouster, Morsi and other Brotherhood leaders have been put on multiple and lengthy trials. Morsi was sentenced to 20 years in prison on charges of ordering Brotherhood members to break up a protest against him, resulting in deaths. Multiple cases are still pending. Monday’s session was part of a retrial, held inside Cairo’s Tora Prison, on charges of espionage with the Palestinian Hamas militant group.
Morsi was held in a special wing in Tora nicknamed Scorpion Prison. Rights groups say its conditions fall far below Egyptian and international standards.
In contrast, Mubarak was allowed to stay in a military hospital during trials on various charges — of which he was eventually cleared and allowed free.
Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East director with the Human Rights Watch, said in a tweet that Morsi’s death was “terrible but entirely predictable” given the government “failure to allow him adequate medical care, much less family visits.”
Mohammed Sudan, leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood in London, said Morsi was banned from receiving medicine or visits and there was little information about his health condition.
“This is premeditated murder. This is slow death,” he said.
Freedom and Justice, the Brotherhood’s political arm, said in a statement on its Facebook page that prison conditions led to Morsi’s death in what amounted to “assassination.”
The judicial official said Morsi had asked to speak to the court during Monday’s session. The judge permitted it, and Morsi gave a speech saying he had “many secrets” that, if he told them, he would be released, but he added that he wasn’t telling them because it would harm Egypt’s national security.
Madour, the defense lawyer, said Morsi spoke for around five minutes, “very calm and organized,” before collapsing inside the cage.
A spokesman for the Interior Ministry did not answer calls seeking comment.
Morsi, an engineer who studied at the University of Southern California, was an unlikely figure to be thrust into Egypt’s central stage. He was never considered a major thinker in the Brotherhood and instead rose through its ranks as an efficient, if lackluster, loyalist. The group only put him forward as its presidential candidate in 2012 after a more prominent and powerful figure, Khairat al-Shater, was declared ineligible to run.
The election victories were the crowning point for the Brotherhood, which had been banned under Mubarak but even underground had been the most organized opposition force. Initially, Morsi made gestures toward the secular pro-democracy activists who led the 2011 Arab Spring uprising. But over the course of the year, opponents accused his Brotherhood of hijacking the revolution and trying to entrench Islamist rule.
Major protests erupted, particularly over the process of writing a new constitution in which critics said the Brotherhood was allowing Islamists to write a charter largely on their terms. Brotherhood supporters cracked down violently on some protests.
As protests grew, the military stepped in. Critics called the move a coup, but el-Sissi’s supporters call it a popularly backed move.
The subsequent crackdown has all but completely dismantled the Brotherhood, with hundreds killed and thousands imprisoned, with most other active figures fleeing abroad. At the same time, secular pro-democracy activists were also crushed.
Throughout his trials, Morsi insisted he remained Egypt’s legitimate president. In early court sessions he gave angry speeches until judges ordered him kept in a glass cage during sessions where they could turn off his audio.
In audio leaked from a 2017 session of one of his trials, Morsi complained that he was “completely isolated” from the court, unable to see or hear his defense team, his eyes pained by lighting inside the cage.
“I don’t know where I am,” he is heard saying in the audio. “It’s steel behind steel and glass behind glass. The reflection of my image makes me dizzy.”
