#RHoA: NeNe Leakes Breaks Down in Tears After Rape Joke Controversy: 'I Should Never Have Said That'
NeNe Leakes broke down in tears on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta recalling the regret she felt over controversial comments she made at a comedy show back in October.
“I never meant to say anything that would hurt anybody,” she told Cynthia Bailey and Marlo Hampton, in tears. “I’m not just walking around here made out of steel. I hurt, too. I don’t want to hurt anybody.”
Leakes had hosted the “Girls Night Out for Laughs” event at the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California — a night of comedy that featured stars Loni Love, Tiffany Haddish, Adele Givens, Melanie Comarcho, Hope Flood and DJ Lucci.
While on stage, she launched into a joke “warning to women about riding in the car with Uber guys.” But being in the Bay Area, where Uber originated, a female heckler booed Leakes and told her to “kill herself.”
That’s when Leakes responded with the controversial statement, telling the critic, “I ain’t even gonna to tell you about the damn Uber driver. I hope he rape yo a– tonight when he take you home, bitch.”
Video of the clap-back (and the boos that came from audience members) quickly spread online, with Leakes taking to social media days later to publicly apologize.
“I truly regret and apologize for what I said from the stage in Oakland over the weekend,” Leakes said in a statement on Facebook. “Sometimes words can cut deep and hurt when you have no intentions of them doing so. As a woman and someone who has survived abuse, I regret the words that I used. I made a mistake and I should have known better. I hope people accept my deepest and sincerest apologies. I am sorry.”
But when she talked about the incident on Sunday’s RHOA, Leakes got far more emotional.
“I’m so quick to fight back, I have to learn to not fight back. I hate that I said what I said to the lady. Oh my God. I felt so bad. I should never have said that,” she cried. “The problem is, you see red and you just flip. I know it can go somewhere so quick, and you’re not even meaning for it to go there.”
“I have been speaking about domestic violence for so many years,” she added. “So I would never wish harm or abuse about another women. I wish I could have said something different in that moment. I just f—– up.”
In the wake of the controversy, Leakes was dropped from her job hosting cast member’s Kandi Burruss‘ The Great Xscape Tour.
“Like many, we were dismayed by the recent remarks made by our talented colleague and friend Nene Leakes,” the group said in a statement. “As a result, we have decided to no longer proceed with her participation on our tour. It was an unfortunate incident for which Nene has since apologized and we wish her the best as she navigates this very difficult period.”
They continued, “As strong supporters of all women, we know this decision is what is best. Our hearts go out to all female victims and we stand with you! This tour is for and about our fans and we want to provide an entertaining and enjoyable experience for every single person who attends. As always, we are grateful for the love and support and we look forward to seeing all of you at ‘The Great Xscape’ tour.”
Burruss was just as supportive Sunday.
“It’s not that I was okay with her comment, but because we’re in the public eye, sometimes we say stuff that we shouldn’t say,” Burruss said. “I’m not condoning anything she said.”
Bailey, too, gave Leakes her love.
“You know, you have to be a little more careful about what you said, who you’re around, and what you do,” she told Leakes. “You’re going to grow from this and this is going to be okay. You get to make a mistake and you apologized.”
“To see NeNe so broken down about this whole Uber thing is hard for me to watch,” Bailey added. “She just responded in a moment and she just said the wrong stuff. She messed up.”
The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo.
#EMPIRE: Terrence Howard & Taraji P. Henson’s Gives the TV Show ‘Extra’ the Inside Scoop on 'Empire'
“Extra’s” AJ Calloway sat down with Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson on the set of “Empire” in Chicago, where a photo shoot with the Lyon family was taking place!
As for upcoming surprises on the FOX show, who'll be running the empire by the end of the season?
While referring to the character of Uncle Eddie, played by Academy Award winner “The Last King of Scotland’s” Forest Whitaker, Terrence teased, “Cookie and Lucious learn to work together in a beautiful way. But sometimes you'll invite a friend in to help you through a rough period... but once you get on your feet they don't want to move out.”
Terrence added, “My friend Forest comes in and he's been helpful, but he starts to overstay his welcome a little bit, and we have to deal with that. He's a force to be reckoned with. He’s the King of Scotland, you don't mess with him... he'll eat you! He’s the most formidable monster that Lucious has ever had to come through... I get upset sometimes because they give him all the good lines!”
Taraji also shared her thoughts on Forest, laughing, “Ain’t nobody scared of no King of Scotland! You met your match through Cookie 'cause I'll eat your ass alive!”
“Empire” returns March 28 on FOX.
#RnBFLASHBACK: Deniece Williams ‘Free’
In 1976, Deniece Williams released her first album “This Is Niecy,” it hit the streets and soon became a gold seller.
Beyond its commercial success, the album is one of the most assured debuts of the decade. The combination of Williams’ sublime vocals and E,W & F’s eclectic musicianship gives the album a sophistication and vibrancy that hold up well 40 years later. The biggest hit from that album, was the song ‘Free’
LISTEN HERE
“Free” is the sultry single that spurred sales for the album. Opening with tinkling chimes, gently crashing high-hat cymbals and a cascade of Fender Rhodes, the song deceptively posits Williams as an enchantress, whispering in her lover’s ear “a magic potion for love.” But as the song builds over Verdine White’s muscular bass line, you realize that Williams, in the sweetest way moved on. Her sense of freedom is more important to her than the relationship will ever be.

#GUNSINSCHOOL Shooting At Maryland High School Leaves 1 Dead, 2 Injured
A shooting at a high school in Great Mills, Maryland, on Tuesday left one student dead and two others injured, officials confirmed.
A 17-year-old male student opened fire using a handgun around 8 a.m. in a hallway at Great Mills High School, striking a 16-year-old female student and a 14-year-old male student, St. Mary’s County Sheriff Tim Cameron said during a press conference.
The school’s armed resource officer, identified by police as St. Mary’s County sheriff’s deputy Blaine Gaskill, exchanged fire with the shooter, Cameron said. Gaskill was not injured.
The three students were transported to local hospitals. The shooter, whom police identified as Austin Wyatt Rollins, died hours later. The female student remains in the ICU with life-threatening injuries and the male student is in stable condition, according to officials.
Investigators were working to determine whether the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound or if he was fatally shot by the school’s resource officer.
Police believe the shooter had a prior relationship with the female victim, Cameron said. Investigators were mining through the shooter’s electronic devices and social media as they work to determine a motive.
“The potential for other victims was very real,” Cameron said during the press conference. “You can only theorize what would have happened ... if our school resource officer hadn’t engaged immediately.”
“This is what we prepare for,” he added. “This is what we pray we never have to do. And on this day, we realize our worst nightmare ― that our greatest asset, our children, were attacked in ... a bastion of safety and security. ... The notion of it can’t happen here is no longer a notion.
The school remained on lockdown as law enforcement officials continued to investigate the matter. All students were bused to nearby Leonardtown High School, where their parents were instructed to pick them up.
Roughly 1,600 students attend Great Mills High School, which is located about 60 miles southeast of Washington, D.C.
FBI agents were on the scene to assist the sheriff’s office.
“No parent should ever have to worry about when they send their kids off in the morning to school whether they are going to come home safely or not,” Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) said during a press conference Tuesday. “We need more than prayers ... We’ve got to take action.”
Halle Berry Makes Major Confession About Her Breasts
For years folks have wondered if Halle Berry’s boobs were man made or au naturale. Now the 51-year-old is being super candid about her breasts and why they are so damn perfect and perky.
Berry took to her Instagram page and revealed that is wasn’t plastic surgery as some have suggested but instead good old fashion excercise.
“Many women I know often complain that gravity is taking hold of their breasts and they struggle to keep ’em up. For me, working out my chest muscles have been key to keeping the ta ta’s right,” she said.
In the photo Berry bares her abs in a black and white sports bra that reads spiritual gangster. She is posed against some tall bamboo trees, her hair is blowing in the wind and her eyes are closed.
In the lengthy post she also admits that she has had a pretty ample bosom since she was a teen, but has kept them perky with this simple trick.
“Besides wearing a bra to bed every night since I was 16, doing very specific chest exercises over the years have helped as well,” she said. “For me it’s been important to work my chest muscles in a gentle way because the goal is never to get too muscular, but to stay feminine and long.”
She concluded by sharing one of her workout routines called the “ball up” and posted a series of demo videos with she and her trainer on her IG story.
“WARNING, it does look easy, but do 50 reps for 3 sets 3 days a week and watch how much you sweat and how you begin to defy gravity!,” she said before signing off with her signature hashtag: FitnessFridayHB.
#HARRYANDMEGHAN: Here’s the Real Reason Prince Harry Doesn’t Need Meghan Markle To Sign a Prenup!
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are keeping the fairytale alive by forgoing a prenup … but this might not be as romantic as it sounds.
According to a source, Harry believes his marriage to Meghan will last forever and there’s no reason to safeguard his £30 million fortune. “There was never any question in Harry’s mind that he would sign a prenup,” one of his “friends” told DailyMail. “He’s determined that his marriage will be a lasting one, so there’s no need for him to sign anything.”
Awww, that’s beautiful … but the gag is, even if Markle signed a prenup it wouldn’t mean much. Unfortunately, prenups are not legally enforceable in the UK. However, they are increasingly taken into account during divorce cases, so at least there’s that.
Also, Prince Harry isn’t the first to take this route. His big brother Prince William made the same move when he married Kate Middleton. In addition, their mother, Princess Diana, didn’t have a prenup either. Consequently, she had to fight tooth and nail to get her £17 million settlement when she divorced Prince Charles.
Hopefully, the royal couple’s union will be one that last a lifetime. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are set to wed on May 19th at Windsor Castle in England.

Aubrey O’Day is being slut-shamed on Twitter for having an affair with Donald Trump Jr.
Take cover. Aubrey O’Day is being inundated with vile messages after news of her affair with Donald Trump Jr. broke on Monday, March 19.
Some have taken to Twitter to blast the former Danity Kane member for having a relationship with the president’s son while he was married to Vanessa Trump. Angry social media users have called her everything from a “pathetic home wrecker” to a “mistress hoe” and accused her of not being “as classy as Stormy Daniels.”
Multiples sources confirmed that Trump had an affair with the Famously Single star in late 2011. They met when she was a contestant on season 5 of the Celebrity Apprentice. A source told Us, “Things started up with Aubrey and Don Jr. toward the end of the taping.”
The relationship was “serious all of a sudden,” according to the source, but he broke things off with her in March 2012 when Vanessa found emails between the pair.
“He told her it was over with his wife, that they were separated and he didn’t love her — all of that stuff … Aubrey fell for him hard,” the source added. “She thought they were going to be together for real.”
Vanessa filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years on March 15.
Mariah Carey Demands $3 Mill Lawsuit Be Dismissed against her. She says she didn’t defame Concert Promoter!
Here’s the latest: The 47-year-old mega star has responded to a concert promoter’s $3 million dollar lawsuit against her. The singer says that FEG Entretenimientos S.A. waited too long to take legal action against her over a message that she posted on social media.
On March 2, she responded to the suit, which accuses her of defaming a concert promoter after canceling overseas shows. Carey, who shares two children with ex husband Nick Cannon, originally sued the promoters claiming they didn’t pay her in full for 2 concerts. She says that the situation damaged her brand, because she had to cancel the shows.
In return, FEG Entretenimientos S.A., counter-sued her. They claimed that she didn’t perform at the 2 shows overseas with no notice or reason. They are suing for at least $500k in damages for each of the missed shows.
In the counter suit, they say that she defamed them with a message on twitter. She tweeted,
Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be canceled. My fans deserve better than some of these promoters treated them.
The promoters say that the tweet was “knowingly false and defamatory” and caused their business irreparable damage, which they are seeking $2 million in damages.
Here’s the backstory: Carey says the promoter’s claim of defamation is time-barred, which means that they waited too long to sue due her. She points out that message on social media was published in October 2016. However, they didn’t file suit until January 2018. In the suit, Carey’s legal team also notes that she never mentioned the promoter by name and didn’t make any false statements. She demands all claims against her be dismissed.
Jay-Z's Roc Nation and First Round Capital invest $3 million in bail reform startup Promise
Jay-Z’s Roc Nation has thrown their support behind a new app that aims to reduce incarceration and recidivism in the criminal justice system.
Promise, an app co-founded by social entrepreneur and former Prince manager Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, hopes “to create a sustainable and scalable program that will reduce the number of people behind bars, recidivism and the cost of care by extending the capabilities of community supervision,” the company said. The app will be open to both government agencies and users on parole or who would otherwise be incarcerated.
“We are increasingly alarmed by the injustice in our criminal justice system,” Jay-Z said in a statement. “Money, time and lives are wasted with the current policies. It’s time for an innovative and progressive technology that offers sustainable solutions to tough problems. Promise’s team, led by Phaedra, is building an app that can help provide ‘liberty and justice for all’ to millions.”
“Promise steps in during the pre-trial process to assist those that cannot afford bail. Following a comprehensive intake procedure, Promise sets up an individualized plan for each participant. Promise then monitors and supports participants to help them succeed with their plans,”
All the best with this initiative!
Keyshia Cole Responds to Her Sister Neffe’s ‘Public’ Apology
We all have family that are sometimes difficult to love but, singer Keyshia Cole and her outspoken sister Neffeteria also known as “Nefe” take that different heights. In a recent sister beef, Neffeteria had a change of heart and gave her little sis a lengthy apology on Instagram. “Dear @keyshiacole first let me start off by saying I love you with all my heart, I have been thinking of you for awhile now and I must say I miss my sister!” She went into her apology and said, “Forgive me if I hurt you, forgive me if I didn’t support you, forgive me if I let you down, forgive me if I embarrassed you, forgive if I didn’t do well in your eyes because you have wanted more for me period!” She closed the apology and said, “My heart has been suffering and I’m ready to be healed and this is apart of my healing…”
Even though Neffe is seemingly apologetic, the sisters have had ongoing issues in the past. Neffe wrote a book about some of their disagreements back in 2012 entitled,”Price I Paid.” Keyshia was not happy about the book. “How many of ya’ll have leaches in your own family? I need to know I’m not alone! B*tch talk about me in ya book and wearing the shoes I gave u on the cover?”
Their strained relationship also played out in Keyshia’s reality show ‘Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is’ where Cole was frustrated with taking care of Neffe while still trying to reconnect with her mom Frankie, who placed her in foster care.
But Cole didn’t allow their estranged relationship to sever their sisterhood. The R&B singer responded ‘PUBLICLY.’ ” Oh and Neffe I did receive your PUBLIC apology, and I understand why you went PUBLIC with it. And I thought I should RESPOND PUBLICLY, and our lives have been VERY PUBLICIZED, and I want you to kno, that I do love u back! ALWAYS WILL.” Cole continued, “And naw we haven’t been close, and that’s been going on for some time now, but I’ve BEEN forgiven you. I’ve forgiven mom and everyone I’ve felt, has failed me in my personal relationships❤
Fans then wished the sisters the best.
“Healing is a part of owning saying I’m sorry and forgive me. Proud of you for that”
“You have grown sooo much sis!! I pray for your healing”
Stevie Wonder Calls ‘Bullsh*t’ On Bruno Mars Cultural Appropriation Claim
“We cannot limit ourselves by people’s fears and insecurities.”
Pop star Bruno Mars is getting support against accusations of cultural appropriation from an unimpeachable source: Stevie Wonder.
TMZ asked Wonder to chime in on a debate that started last weekend, when activist and writer Seren Sensei called Mars a cultural appropriator on “The Grapevine,” a web series dealing with African-American issues.
Mars, whose mother is Filipino and his father Puerto Rican and Jewish, has made a career with songs based on musical forms that are historically and traditionally African-American, according to CNN.
But Sensei argued that Mars “takes pre-existing work and he just completely, word-for-word recreates it, extrapolates it.”
She added: “He does not create it, he does not improve upon it, he does not make it better. He’s a karaoke singer, he’s a wedding singer, he’s the person you hire to do Michael Jackson and Prince covers. Yet Bruno Mars has an Album of the Year Grammy and Prince never won an Album of the Year Grammy.”
Sensei’s remarks caused a heated debate online.
Wonder, however, one of the most Grammy-winning artists of all time, said he doesn’t think Mars was doing anything inappropriate.
“Here’s the thing, God created music for all of us to enjoy,” Wonder told TMZ. “So we cannot limit ourselves by people’s fears and insecurities.”
He pulled no punches saying what he thought of the accusations.
“He’s a great talent, so all the other stuff is just bullshit,” Wonder said of Mars. “He was inspired by great musicians and great artists and songwriters. So it’s cool.”
The Cambridge Dictionary defines cultural appropriation as “the act of taking or using things from a culture that is not your own, especially without showing that you understand or respect this culture.”
TMZ asked Wonder if he thought Mars deserved a “pass” because of the reverent way he treats black-originated musical genres like reggae, hip-hop and funk.
Wonder dismissed the question, saying no pass is needed because God created music for everyone.
