Gugu Mbatha-Raw for Stylist Magazine!
Gugu Mbatha-Raw is ij the lastest edition of Stylist UK Mag. Mbatha-Raw, 34, is an actor who has been working hard for years, gradually increasing her profile, proving and improving her talents. It’s interesting that 2018, a momentous year for women, is the year that she will be catapulted into the big time with her ability to command whichever screen she is on.
I suspect it’s also of note that she’s an actor who has largely worked with female directors on her biggest roles (except 2016’s sublime Black Mirror series three episode San Junipero), including her breakout role in 2014’s Belle, directed by Amma Asante, and Beyond The Lights by Gina Prince-Bythewood the same year, which both centre on women who want – need – their voices to be heard in very different confines.
Currently, Mbatha-Raw can be seen in the Disney fantasy adventure, A Wrinkle In Time, based on the eponymous 1962 novel by Madeleine L’Engle, that puts her into a whole new stratosphere alongside Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling.
Culturally, the film is incredibly important it’s directed by Ava DuVernay, the first African American woman to helm a $100 million film, and has at its centre a young woman of colour played by 12 Years A Slave’s Storm Reid, who travels on a mission through space and time to find her father (Mbatha-Raw plays her scientist mother).

#RHoA: Kim Zolciak Defends Herself From NeNe Leakes so called' 'Racist' Allegations on 'WWHL'
Kim Zolciak stopped by "Watch What Happens Live" Sunday night to address the racist allegations co-star NeNe Leakes made amid Season 10's most explosive storyline -- RoachGate.
On Sunday's episode of the reality series, NeNe said she felt Kim accusing her of living in a "roach nest" had racial undertones because, according to NeNe, roaches are associated with the ghetto.
"The video was made in good jest," Kim told host Andy Cohen. "Brielle [Biermann] knows I have a fear of bugs. She made the video, sent it to me personally, Brielle was out of it. I had the video on my phone. I was so mad when [NeNe] was accusing me of those things -- fake stroke, fake whatever -- so I sent the video. I'm definitely not racist. I don't associate roach, spider whatever [with race] in my mind. I've heard it from several people. I hear you. That's not where my head has ever been at."
Then a caller asked Kim how she would feel if the tables were turned and someone took a video of bugs in her house.
"Well, Brielle texted me the video because she was there, so I wouldn't go in there because I was mic'ed and make a big scene and embarrass NeNe because Brielle and NeNe have been friends for many years," Kim said. "So it was Brielle's way of saying, 'You're a freak about bugs. Do not go in there.' I just had the video. It was months later when I sent it. You shouldn't have bugs if you're having a party."
Andy pressed Kim to answer the question and asked her what she would do if NeNe's son, Brent, had done the same thing Brielle did.
"I can see how people are seeing it from that angle," Kim replied. "That wasn't the intention, but you should probably call an exterminator before a party. Like, for real. You called for furniture; call for an exterminator."
Kim's husband, Kroy Biermann, who was sitting in the audience, interjected: "I'd be thankful because that way then I'd know that I had bugs and I had to get rid of them."
"It was a public, uh, service thing," Cohen added before changing the subject. "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs Sundays at 8 p.m. on Bravo.
#EMPIRE: Isn’t Cookie and Lucious our biggest Ride or Die Couple?
While we wait on bended knee for March 28 lets talk about our favorite ride or die couple Cookie & Lucious Lyon. They’re TV's closest approximation of that "On the Run" type love Jay-Z and Beyonce have (if Jay-Z had amnesia, Queen Bee served time in the clink and their kids were feuding for their money, of course) Empire's Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) Lucious (Terrence Howard) take the ride-or-die trope to intense, often scary heights. They fight, they forgive; they make up, they break up; she smashes his studio and nearly murders him with a baseball bat (like Beyonce!); he destroys any other romance she dare dream to entertain. Still, any time an outside force tries to come for her man or their sons, Cookie shows up swinging.
And we agree. Anyone doesn’t?

#Harmonizers: Fifth Harmony announces 'hiatus' to 'pursue solo endeavors'
After months of speculation, Fifth Harmony announced Monday that they are taking some time apart to pursue their solo careers.
The pop group — comprised of remaining members Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordei, and Dinah Jane — shared the news in a lengthy note on Twitter.
“Reflecting on the past six years since we started on X-Factor, we’ve realized just how far we’ve come and we appreciate everything so much, more now than ever,” the note began. “We’ve really had one hell of a memorable journey together and can’t begin to express our gratitude to y’all for coming along with us on this wild ride!”
The group continued: “After six years going hard, non stop, we also realized that in order to stay authentic to ourselves and to you, we do need to take some time for now to go on a hiatus from Fifth Harmony in order to pursue solo endeavors.”
Leaving the door open for future projects together, the group wrote, “We are all very excited and grateful to be able to take this time to learn and grow creatively and really find our footing as individuals. In doing this we are allowing ourselves to gain new experiences, strengths and perspectives that we can bring back to our Fifth Harmony family.”
The bandmates went on to thank their fans for their “love and encouragement” and clarify that their upcoming scheduled shows together will go on as planned.
The news comes one year and three months after the group announced Camila Cabello’s departure in December 2016. In the time since, Cabello has released her self-titled chart-topping album spawning the hit single “Havana,” and each of the remaining Fifth Harmony singers has worked on solo projects.
Wendy Williams Opens Up About Her Return To TV On ‘Good Morning America’
Wendy Williams sat down with “Good Morning America” co-host Amy Robach to discuss how she’s now making her health a priority in the battle against Graves’ disease.
“In the entire almost 10 years of doing the show, I have never taken a sick day,” Williams told Robach. “… it was a perfect storm; a perfect storm that had been brewing, I have to say, internally, knowing my body, since late July.”
Williams fainted live during her Halloween show in October, causing widespread concern about her health. She finished the show and returned the next day saying her tests came back fine.
In an ABC News exclusive interview in November, she told Amy Robach she was “scared to death” after she overheated in her Statue of Liberty Halloween costume and attributed the fall to dehydration.
Williams, 53, now says she had missed three appointments with her endocrinologist prior to the fainting spell, but she’s “functioning OK.”
“I’m feeling a little weird, but I’ll get through it,” Williams said. “And I went [to the endocrinologist] in February and that’s where I found, ‘Whoa, your levels are way off.’“
Williams said doctors advised her to take time off.
“My internist told me I am, if not the worst case of deficient vitamin D that she’s ever seen in her career,” she added. “I have vertigo, which I’ve had all my life and that was affecting my equilibrium. And it was just a mess going on inside of my body, but I’m saved… If there was one thing that I could request from my Wendy watchers, please don’t ask me how I feel. When I see you in the grocery store, when I see you in the streets, please don’t ask me how I feel with the woo-woo-woo and the puppy eyes. … Nobody likes a pity party.”
Actor Jerry O’Connell filled in for Williams during the hiatus, which is the first time Williams has had a guest host in the history of the 10-year-old show.

Fans Trash Kim Kardashian’s Concealer Line For Lack of Darker Shades, Black Model Responds
Kim Kardashians West’s concealer line is under fire for its lack of inclusivity. Although the products have yet to hit the mainstream beauty market, social media made it their duty to drag the “Conceal, Bake, Brighten” line for its limited shade ranges after West showcased the KKW Beauty concealers on Twitter and Instagram.
However, Fadiga, who modeled for KKW’s campaign, reportedly defended the cosmetic line and posted a response on Instagram in the comments on the brand’s social media account after people mentioned none of the shades would work on her.
“To end the conversation because you are talking about me ( : I am the « dark black model)… I can tell you that they did not choose me only to pretend; I had the makeup on and It fits perfectly my skin color. Cynthia Nixon, ‘Sex and the City’ star, declares run for New York governor
NEW YORK — Former “Sex and the City” star Cynthia Nixon said on Twitter Monday that she’ll challenge Gov. Andrew Cuomo in New York’s Democratic primary in September.
Her announcement sets up a race pitting an openly gay liberal activist against a two-term incumbent with a $30 million war chest and possible presidential ambitions.
On Twitter, the public education advocate said, “We want our government to work again.”
Nixon in recent speeches has called on Democrats nationally to carve out a strong liberal identity instead of being merely the “anti-Trump party.”
The 51-year-old Manhattan mother of three is an ally of Democratic New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, who frequently clashes with Cuomo on various issues.
The 60-year-old Cuomo was favored 66 percent to 19 percent over Nixon in a recent Siena College poll.
