At Least 2 Die, Dozens Hospitalized After Plane Crashes into Fire Truck at LaGuardia Airport
A fatal accident occurred when an Air Canada plane collided with a fire truck on a runway at LaGuardia Airport in New York City.
The accident occurred late Sunday (March 22), the National Transportation Safety Board and LaGuardia initially confirmed in statements on X.
“At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Sunday, a Jazz Aviation flight operating on behalf of Air Canada was involved in an incident on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport in which the aircraft struck a Port Authority Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting vehicle that was responding to a separate incident,” LaGuardia’s statement read in part.
It continued, reading, “This is a developing situation based on preliminary information. The Port Authority Police Department is working closely with our airline partners as well as federal authorities and will provide additional updates as more details become available.”
LaGuardia was closed for an investigation to take place. On X, the airport urged passengers to check for their latest flight information before heading to the airport. It will not reopen until at least after 2 p.m. on Monday (March 23).
In press releases, both Air Canada and Jazz Aviation confirmed that the plane’s pilot and first officer died in the collision. The companies stated that they were unable to confirm a final death count at the moment.
“Flight 8646 was en route to LGA from Montréal (YUL) and collided with a fire truck on the runway upon landing at New York LaGuardia (LGA),” Jazz wrote in the news release. It’s believed that 72 passengers and 4 crew members were onboard at the time of the collision.
“Today is an incredibly difficult day for our airline, our employees, and most importantly, the families and loved ones of those affected by the accident involving flight 8646,” Doug Clarke, President of Jazz Aviation, said in the news release. “We extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our two pilots and our unwavering support to those who have been injured.”
He added, “As the investigation unfolds, we are fully committed to cooperating with the relevant authorities to determine what happened. We will share updates as soon as verified information becomes available. We will continue to provide our full support in the days and weeks ahead.”
In updates provided NBC News, it was revealed that 41 people involved in the accident were hospitalized in the aftermath.
Port Authority Executive Director Kathryn Garcia told the outlet that some of the hospitalized were “seriously injured.” However, 32 of them have since been released.
Garcia told the press that two of the hospitalized had been on the truck. They were described as being in “stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.”
She added that the truck was on the runway “responding to another aircraft operated by United that had reported an issue with odor.”
The identities of the deceased have not yet been confirmed.

And if you live in sin on this earth, he’s so holy, he’s so grand beyond our imagination, you can’t kick it with him in heaven,” the actor continued. “Not because he doesn’t love you, but because he’s so holy, he can’t dwell with unholy people.”
An Instagram user who shared a screen recording of the live video asked Smalls during the broadcast if LGBT people are going to hell.
“That goes for other sinners. Scoffers, mockers, liars, all things that are an abomination,” Smalls replied. “It’s not just the LGBT. If you’re drunk, if you’re an alcoholic, if you’re a murderer, these are all sins that God doesn’t tolerate.”
In his apology letter, Smalls said he reflected on his comments to understand the consequences of his words.
“I have taken the time to listen, really listen, through very different eyes and ears to understand why some people felt judged and dismissed,” he said. “I understand now how my approach may have lacked the love, humility and awareness that I believe God calls us to have.”
The actor said he has gained “greater insight and understanding” after speaking with others who shared their perspective. He also said he has now learned about some tragedies that happened to LGBTQ people as a result of homophobia.
“I take full accountability for the fact that the damage done by my words outweighs the intent behind them,” he said. “I truly regret that my words caused pain and I pray that you are able to see my heart in the midst of all of this.”

Simone Ledward Boseman “Felt Sure” Chadwick Would Beat Cancer
Simone Ledward Boseman, the widow of Chadwick Boseman, revealed how she “felt sure” he would beat cancer.
In an in-depth interview with Today, Simone recalled Chadwick’s relentless spirit and his final days.
“We both felt very sure that he would make it through,” Simone shared.“It was going to be a challenging moment, but something that he would come out on the other side of and be fine. They would do a surgery, he would do some chemo afterward, and he would be OK. There wasn’t much talk at all of the possibility of him not being OK on the other side of that.”
Simone also revealed that they discovered Chadwick’s stage 3 cancer diagnosis in 2016, and she married him months before his passing in August 2020.
“I didn’t know that he was experiencing anything until he had already been to the doctor twice,” she explained. “It all seemed to come about very suddenly. It was a matter of weeks that he started not feeling well.”
Eventually, Chadwick’s cancer progressed to stage 4, and he decided to keep his health status private.
“Chad was not a person who would have wanted to be treated any differently because people knew that he was sick,” she explained. “The work is what was keeping him moving, so he didn’t want the work to suffer just because he was sick. He didn’t want to be handled with kid gloves because people thought he wasn’t going to be able to do his job and slide underneath falling cabinets and run across fields.”
Simone said that thinking that Chadwick was not going to make it was “like a betrayal of faith.”
“There are a lot of moments where I look back on that time and wish that we had been able to find a way to talk about that,” she said.

“We are deeply saddened to announce the death of Leo Radvinsky,” the spokesperson said in an email. “Leo passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. His family have requested privacy at this difficult time.”
Known for his work as an angel investor in multiple companies and as a philanthropist, Radvinsky was born in Ukraine but grew up in the Chicago area. He gradated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, later acquiring Fenix International Limited, the parent company of OnlyFans.
Radvinsky, based in the Miami area, was also the founder of another leader in the adult content space, MyFreeCams. According to Forbes, his successes ultimately led to him growing his net worth to nearly $5 billion.
Gross revenue on the OnlyFans platform—which has served as both a launchpad for new stars, as well as an extension of established stars’ reach—has also been in the billions for some time now.

Akademiks and The Kid Mero got into a heated exchange over social media.
In a recent live stream responding to Ebro Darden, who said Akademiks was seen as an “alcoholic degenerate loser” last week, Ak criticized Ebro for his alleged poor ratings on his former Hot 97 morning show, claiming that it led to his firing.

In a recent live stream responding to Ebro Darden, who said Akademiks was seen as an “alcoholic degenerate loser” last week, Ak criticized Ebro for his alleged poor ratings on his former Hot 97 morning show, claiming that it led to his firing.
Akademiks then turned his attention to Ebro’s replacement, The Kid Mero, who began hosting mornings at the legendary hip-hop station in January.

In a series of videos, Doja's father, Dumisani Dlamini, went on a tirade about his strained relationship with his famous daughter, saying he loves his kids and helped put food on their table when they were growing up. According to Dlamini, after Doja's career blew up, her mom started ruining his reputation as a good man and convinced Doja that he left her -- which he says is not true.
His posts followed a video from Doja titled "Deadbeat Chronicles," in which she talks about trolling her dad by sending him a link to gay porn instead of tickets to one of her Tour Ma Vie shows in South Africa, where Dlamini lives.
Dlamini -- clearly bothered -- addressed the situation, saying, "[Doja] played the cards because of the influence of her mother. She came to South Africa, had the power to see me and faked it. What I want to say to you guys is, I'm sorry if I ever touched anyone's nerves. I'm a man of integrity, respect and love."

Taylor Frankie Paul Responds to Fan Advising Her to Stay Off Social Media Amid Bachelorette Cancellation
Taylor Frankie Paul won’t be told what to do. After the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star’s Bachelorette season was canceled over domestic violence allegations, she responded to a TikTok user who suggested she stay off social media during this tumultuous time in her life.
“Taylor Frankie Paul Get Off Your Phone Challenge,” an online user said in a March 21 TikTok video. “Why are you commenting back to people and reposting TikToks? Her world literally just blew up. I would say her team should take her phone away from her, but no, she literally is reposting TikToks that are in support of her and she’s commenting back to people on Instagram.”
In response to the video, Taylor, 31, commented, “Want me to stare at the wall instead?”
Days earlier, ABC canceled season 22 of The Bachelorette—which was set to premiere March 22 with Taylor as the show’s leading lady—in light of a 2023 video published by TMZ March 19 depicting an altercation between the reality star and her ex Dakota Mortensen.
In the clip, the eldest of her two kids with ex-husband Tate Paul can be heard crying as the dispute unfolds. (Taylor previously pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated assault following the incident and remains on probation until August.)
The same day as the video’s release, Dakota filed a protective order and was awarded temporary custody of his and Taylor’s 2-year-old son until a hearing on April 7, according to the protective order obtained by People March 20.
Recently, Taylor’s rep addressed the situation in a statement to the media.
“After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation," the rep said March 19, "Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”
The spokesperson added, “There are too many women who are suffering in silence as they survive aggressive, jealous ex-partners who refuse to let them move on with their lives."
In his own statement to E! News March 19, Dakota said, “I am, unfortunately, used to these baseless claims about me and our relationship, which I categorically deny.”
