#RHOA: Phaedra Parks Nick Reiner's Public Defender Needs To Lock In!!!
"The Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Phaedra Parks -- who is also a lawyer -- put her legal analyst hat on for us ... weighing in on just what is going on in Nick Reiner's murder trial in Los Angeles.

Remember ... Nick's high-powered attorney, Alan Jackson, dropped out and is being replaced by public defender Kimberly Greene.
So far, Jackson's withdrawal hasn't been fully explained, but Phaedra offered a plausible explanation when we caught her at LAX Friday.

Phaedra pointed out ... "It's unfortunate that he has to get a public defender, but obviously more than likely the trust was covering his legal fees, so I don't know if there's a conflict of interest for the victims to pay for the alleged assailant's defense."
While Greene comes with 19 years of experience, public defenders tend to be overloaded with cases, potentially putting her at a disadvantage.

As you know ... Nick is charged with two counts of felony murder for allegedly stabbing his parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, to death ... and he could face the death penalty.
With Jackson out, the deck may be stacked against Greene and Nick, but Phaedra said Nick still deserves a fair trial.
Phaedra told us, "[Greene] is gonna have to read night and day, get her witnesses lined up and try to do the best job she can."
According to Phaedra, "It's going to depend on the experts. A case is only as good as its facts."

Nick's next court date is set for February 23.

#MusicNews: Mary J. Blige Announces Vegas Residency, ‘My Life, My Story’

Mary J. Blige is hitting Sin City! After celebrating her 55th birthday yesterday, the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has announced her first-ever Vegas residency, “Mary J. Blige: My Life, My Story,” at Dolby Live at Park MGM. On Monday morning (Jan. 12), Blige took to social media to share the news with a promo reel.

“I’ve been so excited to announce this Vegas residency,” she said in a press release. “Creating a show like this has been something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s a chance to get my fans together from all over – different cities, states, and countries – to experience something together. My Life, My Story will be just that – with some surprises for my fans that have been there through it all. See you in May!”

Tickets for Blige’s 10-date residency go on sale on Ticketmaster on Friday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. However, Citi / AAdvantage cardmembers can purchase tickets in advance on Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 1 p.m. ET via CitiEntertainment.com.
Artist fans will also have access to a pre-sale beginning Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 10 a.m. PT. Members of MGM Rewards, MGM Resorts’ loyalty rewards program, as well as Live Nation and Ticketmaster customers, will receive access to a pre-sale beginning Thursday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. PT. All pre-sales will end Thursday, Jan. 15, at 10 p.m. PT.

The nine-time Grammy winner stopped by the TODAY show on Monday morning to talk about the residency and what fans can expect. “It’s going to be done more theatrically,” she shared. “It’s still going to have the music, it’s still going to be fun — but it’s a story, so there’s going to be actors and actresses. So the music tells the story. I have so many songs that I haven’t performed yet for my fans… The actors are going to narrate the music, but you’re still going to have a good time.”

Last year, Blige embarked on her For My Fans Tour and released the concert film, Mary J. Blige: For My Fans, after headlining at Madison Square Garden. Aside from her Vegas residency, she’ll be premiering her Lifetime original movie, Be Happy, starring Tisha Campbell, Mekhi Phifer, and Russel Hornsby on Feb. 7.

#HipHopNews: A$AP Rocky Goes Full Rockstar In New “Punk Rocky” Video Starring Winona Ryder
A$AP Rocky has ramped up his Don’t Be Dumb rollout with the release of a new single and video, “Punk Rocky.”
Produced by Ging, Zach Fogarty, Cristoforo Donadi and Rocky himself, the track finds Pretty Flacko flexing his musical range and showcasing his smooth singing voice over melodic rock production.

“I thought I fell in love, I thought she felt it too / I thought we was in love, she just another fluke / I thought you was the one, I guess you just the two / You want the last laugh, look, now the joke’s on you,” laments Rocky, whose real-life relationship with Rihanna is anything but on the rocks.

The accompanying video, co-starring Winona Ryder, strengthens Rocky’s reputation as one of hip-hop’s best visual artists. With Dutch directors Simon Beck and Folkert Verdoorn at the helm, the surreal clip features a neighborhood brawl, a stint in jail and a rooftop jam session as the Harlem rapper moves to the suburbs.

While one jacked-up neighbor makes it his mission to snuff out the fun, Winona Ryder becomes A$AP Rocky’s unlikely ally, even bailing him and his crew out of jail. The rollercoaster ride ends in an explosive shootout and ejector seat-triggered car crash.

“Punk Rocky” is set to appear on A$AP Rocky’s long-awaited fourth album Don’t Be Dumb, which will finally arrive on January 16.
According to a vinyl listing of the album, “the 15-track [project] moves through genres the way you’d move through a city — jazz, hip hop, metal, indie, R&B — each track capturing a different block, mood, or moment. It’s Rocky in full range.”

WATCH HERE:

A number of high-profile names have been linked to the album, from Metro Boomin and Madlib to Playboi Carti and Westside Gunn. But one of the most fascinating contributors is Tim Burton, the legendary filmmaker behind Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice and the late ’80s/early ’90s Batman movies.

Burton’s name appears on the official cover for Don’t Be Dumb while Rocky recently thanked the director for “helping me make this movie,” suggesting an accompanying film is in the works.
“I sat and I played the album for Tim Burton, and he was fucking with it heavy … He was rocking his head and was like, ‘Wow! I didn’t know you made that kind of music!’” the rapper told Billboard in 2024.

He explained his admiration for Burton in a sit-down with Vanity Fair last year, saying: “I love Tim Burton, man. I’ve been inspired by him [since] a child. I think what he does with claymation and how he transcended into live-action movies, the parallels between them and [how] he seamlessly included it from matte painting to German Expressionism. I think he’s a fucking genius.”

Damson Idris Addresses ‘Black Panther 3’ Rumors
Damson Idris answered questions about the chances of him playing T’Challa in 'Black Panther 3,' with a degree of caution.
The Golden Globes red carpet was the scene for a respectful and honest conversation by acclaimed actor Damson Idris about the speculation that he’s been tapped by Marvel Studios to take over the role of T’Challa in Black Panther 3.
Variety senior writer Angelique Jackson opened up by referencing Idris being mentioned as the next choice to play James Bond on-screen, before asking him about taking up the role of the hero from Wakanda. “I am thankful to the fans,” Idris said graciously. “Of course it’s rumor, but I love that movie. I love that world. I’m glad that everyone is seeing the future of that too. It’s moving in a brilliant direction, and I’m excited for the third one.”

Speculation about the actor taking on the role made iconic by the late Chadwick Boseman has run rampant after the release of Wakanda Forever, the 2022 sequel to Black Panther, released after his tragic passing in 2020. In that film, T’Challa’s sister Shuri (portrayed by Letitia Wright) becomes the new Black Panther. Supporters have clamored for the role of T’Challa to be recast, and the F1 star is at the top of their list, despite Marvel’s initial statements that they would not seek to recast the role.

In an appearance on NBC’s Today last June, Damson Idris was asked if he had any talks with Marvel about taking on the role of T’Challa by co-anchor Craig Melvin. “Yes-no!” Idris said with a playful groan, prompting Melvin to joke with him about the response before asking, “If they asked, would you say yes?” Idris didn’t hesitate then, replying “Yes.”

The 33-year-old had also stoked speculation with a since-deleted response to a post on X, formerly Twitter, last January, which claimed he had turned down the chance to play T’Challa. “Yes sir. I turned down 007, a co-lead film with Daniel Day Lewis and an Eddie Murphy biopic too,” he wrote with an upside-down emoji.
Another moment adding fuel to the discussion took place at the Vogue World: Hollywood event last October. The fashion runway presentation included a segment in tribute to Academy Award-winning designer Ruth E. Carter, and Angela Bassett walked the runway dressed as Queen Ramonda with Idris accompanying her. The display led many to speculate that the Snowfall actor was being soft-launched as the new T’Challa.

Gayle King Takes Pay Cut For Part-Time CBS Role

Gayle King, a 14-year fixture on CBS This Morning, has reportedly accepted a new contract with the network that dramatically reduces both her workload and compensation.
Per RadarOnline, in an effort to stay with CBS, King has agreed to a massive pay reduction that reduces her annual salary from $15 million to $10 million as of January 2026.

Insiders shared details with Hollywood journalist Rob Shuter. In a Substack post, Shuter claims that King actively shaped the terms of her new arrangement. “Gayle called the shots,” one source said. “She knew exactly what she wanted – less work, less stress, but still the spotlight.” A different source suggested the timing aligned with CBS’s financial needs, stating: “CBS loves her, but they also needed to make adjustments.” The source added, “This was a perfect compromise. She keeps her profile, they cut costs, everyone wins.”

King appears to be content with the new gig after being one of many affected the CBS staff shakeup. In October 2025, CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss joined the network and immediately began laying-off select staff members.
“CBS Saturday Morning” co-anchors Dana Jacobson, Michelle Miller, executive producer Brian Applegate and a host of staffers were let go.
King addressed rumors she was on the chopping block in October.

“All I can say is this: From what I’m being told inside this building … all I’ve been told by everybody in this building is that they want me here,” she said at the time. “They like the job I’m doing. I like the job I’m doing!”
While the layoffs have been anticipated since chairman David Ellison took over parent company, Paramount, in August, they also take place after Ellison promised the Trump administration that he’d eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion policies once he took over the company.

King’s job restructure arrives five months before her contract expires.

Don Lemon Slams Stephen A. Smith For “Making Excuses For White People”
Stephan A. Smith is once again facing criticism from one of his peers. Don Lemon has accused him of making excuses for White people and more. As per The Grio Don Lemon did not hold back on a recent episode of his The Don Lemon Show. During a segment with Reecie Colbert and Clay Cane he addressed Stephen A. Smith for what he believes to be playing too nice with White media. “Stephen A. Smith has just been a disappointment,” he started. “Look, I try not to try to criticize, especially Black men or Black people in general, but Stephen A. Smith goes off and talks about sh-t that he has no idea about.”

Don Lemon went on to add that the sports analyst has a history of going on White hosted shows and throwing Black people under the bus. “He has no facts. He goes on these white boy, right-wing podcasts or on his own show and goes off about Black people and things for which he has no clue” he explained. “It’s just shocking to me, this sort of cozying up to White people, and it’s got to be for the money,” Don continued. “If I became a Black conservative, I would be rich! Or a gazillionaire. Or if I went on to bash Black people just to bash Black them and it seems that’s become his stock-in-trade to make excuses for White people and cozy up to people like Megyn Kelly!” The former CNN host doubled down on his stance to close his argument. “He’s one of those Black people that White people think Black people like and we don’t. Stephen A. Smith does not represent us.”

This is not the first time Stephen A. Smith has been called out by others in media. Pundits and commentators, such as comedian Godfrey and Dr. Umar Johnson, have called Smith’s behavior “coon-ish” when discussing various topics, including his comments on the O.J. Simpson tribute or his general on-air persona.

The Kid Mero Launches New Morning Show on HOT 97 Starting January 13

New York mornings are officially getting a culture reset. The Kid Mero is taking over the airwaves as the host of HOT 97 Mornings with Mero, the brand-new morning show launching Tuesday, January 13, on HOT 97.
The show will air weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET, bringing Mero’s unmistakable voice, humor, and cultural commentary to New York’s most influential hip-hop station.

For a city that runs on conversation, this move feels right on time.
A Bronx Voice Taking Over NYC Mornings
Born and raised in the Bronx, Mero is not just a media personality.

He is a New York Times best-selling author, a Writers Guild Award winner, and a Variety “Comic to Watch.”
From hosting “Victory Light with The Kid Mero” to co-hosting “7PM in Brooklyn” alongside Carmelo Anthony, Mero has built a career on sharp wit, cultural insight, and saying what many people are already thinking.
Now, that same energy is coming to mornings on HOT 97, a station deeply woven into the fabric of New York hip-hop and culture.

“HOT 97 has always been about representing the culture of New York, and Mero is New York,” said Kudjo Sogadzi, EVP of Content & Growth at MediaCo.
He described Mero as authentic, fearless, and deeply connected to the community, adding that the new morning show is designed to create must-listen moments every day.
The announcement follows a historic 2025 for MediaCo, marked by record revenue growth and performance that outpaced every broadcaster in the country.

The launch of HOT 97 Mornings with Mero reflects the company’s continued investment in premium talent and culture-driving brands.
Listeners can expect Mero’s signature, unfiltered commentary on culture, sports, music, and current events, along with conversations featuring today’s biggest artists, athletes, and influencers.
The show is built to reflect how New York actually sounds in the morning.

Smart, funny, opinionated, and unapologetically real.
“HOT 97 is the station. It’s been the voice of NYC hip-hop and culture for decades,” Mero said.
He called landing the morning slot a responsibility, not just a job, and made it clear that while laughs are guaranteed, authenticity will always come first.

MediaCo CEO Albert Rodriguez described the launch as an integral moment for the company, noting the continued growth of the HOT 97 brand alongside its expanding digital and Hot TV platforms.
With Mero at the center, the station is positioning itself for deeper cultural impact across radio, streaming, and social media.
The debut of HOT 97 Mornings with Mero signals a new chapter for an iconic station that continues to evolve without losing its roots.
Listeners can tune in starting Tuesday, January 13, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. ET on HOT 97 and across all HOT 97 digital platforms.

New York mornings just got louder, smarter, and a lot more entertaining.

Will Smith Appears to Dodge Question About Ex-Tour Violinist's Retaliation Lawsuit
Will Smith appeared to recently brush off a question about a lawsuit against him that claims wrongful termination and retaliation.
The 57-year-old actor was spotted in London on Monday (Jan. 12) while reportedly working on his National Geographic series Pole to Pole With Will Smith.

In a video captured by Backgrid and shared by TMZ, Smith was asked about the recent lawsuit filed against him by violinist Brian King Joseph.
The clip showed Smith appearing to laugh before hopping into a waiting vehicle as security blocked the cameraperson.
In the lawsuit, Joseph claims he was fired from Smith's Based on a True Story Tour after reporting an alleged sexual harassment incident that he says occurred during a Las Vegas stop in November 2024.

According to the complaint, as reviewed by Variety, Joseph alleges his bag, which contained his hotel room key, went missing for several hours before hotel management located it and returned it. The man said that he later discovered his Las Vegas room had been "unlawfully" entered.
Joseph says several items were left behind in the room, including a handwritten note that read, "Brian, I'll be back... just us," with a drawn heart and the signature "Stone F," as well as wipes, a beer bottle, a red backpack, a bottle of HIV medication with another individual's name, an earring, and hospital discharge paperwork belonging to someone unknown to him.

The violinist claims these discoveries led him to believe "an unknown individual would soon return to his room to engage in sexual acts" with him, leading him to notify hotel staff, a non-emergency police line, and Smith's representatives.
The suit further alleges that days later, a member of Smith's tour management team "shamed" him and informed him he was being terminated.

Joseph claims the hotel room incident caused him "severe emotional distress, economic loss, reputational harm, and other damages," and that his termination resulted in post-traumatic stress disorder and additional economic loss.
In a statement shared with TMZ, Smith's attorney, Allen B. Grodsky, called the claims "false, baseless, and reckless."
He added, “They are categorically denied, and we will use all legal means available to address these claims and to ensure that the truth is brought to light.”

Notre Dame Coach Marcus Freeman Accused of Battery After High School Wrestling Match

Marcus Freeman is dealing with an off-field situation after an allegation of battery was reported following a high school wrestling event in northern Indiana.
The Notre Dame head football coach attended the competition to support his son, but a later confrontation with another coach led to a police report and an ongoing review by prosecutors.

“Vinny Freeman, head coach Marcus Freeman’s son, was verbally accosted during and after his wrestling match by a local wrestling coach. Marcus and Joanna Freeman intervened and removed Vinny from the situation. At no point did Coach Freeman Show more
The incident took place on January 3 at Mishawaka High School during the Al Smith Wrestling Invitational. Freeman was there to watch his son, Vinny Freeman, a senior wrestler who has committed to Cornell University. After Vinny lost his match, emotions reportedly escalated as he was leaving the mat area.

According to a police report referenced by the South Bend Tribune, a verbal exchange began between Freeman, his family, and New Prairie High School assistant wrestling coach Chris Fleeger.
The report describes the interaction continuing into a hallway away from the competition floor, where voices were raised, and school officials eventually intervened.

The report notes that “claims of physical contact allegedly occurred between Marcus Freeman and Fleeger,” though it does not detail what that contact involved. Fleeger filed a report with the police at the scene. No arrest was made, and the Freeman family left the event shortly afterward.
The Mishawaka Police Department later confirmed that its investigation has concluded. On January 11, authorities said that the findings were forwarded to the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office, which will determine whether charges will be filed.

Notre Dame Athletics has publicly denied the allegation and challenged the account described in the police report. In a statement to People, the university said the situation began when Freeman’s son was verbally targeted.
“Vinny Freeman, head coach Marcus Freeman’s son, was verbally accosted during and after his wrestling match by a local wrestling coach,” the statement read.

The university said Freeman and his wife acted to remove their son from the situation rather than escalate it. “Marcus and Joanna Freeman intervened and removed Vinny from the situation,” the statement continued. “At no point did Coach Freeman physically engage with anyone.”
Notre Dame also emphasized that the available evidence supports Freeman’s version of events. “We believe that the police report, which includes video evidence, fully exonerates Coach Freeman and makes clear these accusations are unfounded,” the statement added.

Chris Brown Defamation Lawsuit Dismissed
Last year Chris Brown filed a $500 million defamation of character lawsuit against Warner Bros. and the producers of the docuseries “Chris Brown: A History of Violence

The case has been dismissed...Chris Brown's $500 million defamation lawsuit against Warner Bros. Discovery and Ample Entertainment over the documentary "Chris Brown: A History of Violence" was dismissed this week by a judge who ruled the documentary presented a fair and balanced report of the abuse allegations against him, complying with journalistic standards. The judge found no merit in Brown's claims that the film spread falsehoods, noting it included details about inconsistencies in accuser accounts that Brown's team highlighted.

Rihanna jokes about possibly having a 4th child

Rihanna playfully hinted at the possibility of a fourth child with her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky. The couple, both 37, already share three children: sons RZA, 3, Riot, 2, and daughter Rocki, 4 months.
The moment happened on Instagram when Rihanna commented on a post by Love Island alum Montana Brown, 30, who has two children with her fiancé Mark O’Connor. In the video, Brown was deciding whether to “get hot and sexy or get pregnant in 2026.”

Rihanna wrote in the comments: “Wait! So I’m not crazy then? Bet!” Fans quickly responded with humor and excitement. One suggested she focus on music instead, saying: “Girl the only thing you need to be popping out is that album PLZZZZZZ.” Another joked: “GIRLLLLLLL ARE U CRAZY?????” while a third added: “If you announce a pregnancy, then we announce a pregnancy.”
Rihanna and Rocky met during rehearsals for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards but only began dating in 2020. They welcomed Rocki in September 2025, and Rihanna has shared that motherhood has been a joyful, eye-opening experience.

In a recent interview with Extra, she spoke about watching her children grow: “The babies are amazing. They’re all getting bigger, and I cannot take it. My sons, oh my God, their faces are changing. Their necks are getting longer. I love it.”
Rocky also shared that the siblings are developing a strong bond. He noted that RZA and Riot are getting along better than expected and that he is happy to see them enjoy their time together despite being close in age.
In April 2022, Rihanna revealed she had originally imagined marrying before having children. She told Vogue: “I always thought it would be marriage first, then a baby, but who says it has to be that way. I’m certainly not gonna let that get in the way of me being a mom.”

Rocky has also hinted at the couple’s marital status without confirmation. In October 2025, he referred to himself as a “loving husband” in an interview with The Perfect Magazine, though he later told Elle: “How you know I’m not already a husband? I’m still not gonna confirm it.”
Despite the speculation, Rihanna and Rocky continue to focus on their family while keeping fans entertained with glimpses into their lives. Their social media interactions offer lighthearted moments that show both their personalities and the joy they find in raising three young children.

The couple’s story highlights modern family dynamics, balancing careers, personal milestones, and parenthood, all while remaining in the public eye. Rihanna’s playful comment about a possible fourth child shows that even amid a busy schedule, the singer enjoys sharing small, relatable moments with her audience.

Dilbert' Creator Scott Adams dies after prostate cancer battle
Cartoonist Scott Adams has died following a battle with prostate cancer at the age of 68.
His former wife announced on his show Tuesday morning.
"He’s not with us anymore," Shelly Miles told listeners.
Earlier this month, Adams shared a health update on his podcast "Real Coffee with Scott Adams."

"I talked to my radiologist yesterday, and it’s all bad news — the odds of me recovering are essentially zero," he said. "I’ll give you any updates if that changes, but it won’t."
"So there’s no chance that I’ll get my feeling back in my legs, and I’ve got some ongoing heart failure, which is making it difficult to breathe sometimes during the day," the cartoonist continued. "However, you should prepare yourself that January will probably be a month of transition, one way or another."

Last May, Adams revealed that he was suffering from prostate cancer – the same cancer that former President Joe Biden announced that he was diagnosed with.
Adams announced the diagnosis on his YouTube channel, stating, "I decide that today’s the day that I’m going to take the opportunity, since a lot of you are here, to make an announcement of my own… I have the same cancer that Joe Biden has.

The comic strip icon said, like Biden, he had prostate cancer "that has also spread to my bones."
He heartbreakingly revealed that he anticipated he would live to "sometime this summer."
"I’m in pain, I’m always in pain," Adams added.

Adams rose to fame in the 1900s for his comic strip "Dilbert," an award-winning satire that poked fun at office culture.
It ran for recades and appeared in some 2,000 newspapers in 65 countries before Adams' controversial comments about race prompted its widespread cancellation in 2023.
In the February 2023 episode of his YouTube show, Adams described people who are Black as members of "a hate group" from which white people should "get away."

Various media publishers across the U.S. denounced the comments as racist, hateful and discriminatory while saying they would no longer provide a platform for his work.
The editor of the San Francisco Chronicle, which dumped "Dilbert," said the comic strip "went from being hilarious to being hurtful and mean."
Over the years, Adams has written several novels and nonfiction books unrelated to Dilbert and weighs in on social and political events on his long-running YouTube program, which has about 174,000 subscribers.
