Vivica A. Fox Reflects On 25 Years In Hollywood In UPSCALE

The latest issue of UPSCALE Magazine has arrived on newsstands, and we've got deets about this month's cover model....Vivica A. Fox.  While rocking a summer ready pretty-in-pink look for the cover shot, the famed Hollywood starlet talks celebrating 25 years in the industry and a long list of movies and tv credits to her name.
Ms. Fox, who turns 51 next month, is currently set to grace the silver screen in the sensuous-abtastic flick Chocolate City (see the red carpet premiere here) and has recently signed on to reprise her role in the sequel to Independence Day.

Also coming down the pipeline, Vivica will star in the action flick The Good, the Bad, and the Dead with Dolph Lundgren, and she's serving as Executive Producer of the film Blaq Gold starring herself, "LAHH ATL" star Erica Dixon and Roy Jones Jr. You can pick up Vivica's issue now....

Lee Daniels: ‘Jussie [Smollet] and I Both Received Death Threats’

Empire creator Lee Daniels fears for his life after receiving death threats for his gay storyline on Empire. The openly gay movie director and producer made the shocking revelations at a producers conference in LA on Sunday 

Daniels said some viewers were not pleased with the gay storyline on his hit Fox TV show Empire, according to The Wrap.
He said he and the show’s openly gay star, Jussie Smollet, both receive death threats. “Homophobia is real. It exists… Jussie and I both get death threats,” said Daniels while speaking on a panel. “But we will continue to do our thing until homophobia is done." “I have to relate to these people honestly. That trash can scene? It happened,” Daniels said, referring to the scene where his father (played by Terrence Howard) dumps him in a trash can for wearing his mother’s high heel shoes.

Meanwhile, there are unsubstantiated rumors that Daniels is pressing Fox to let him bring in more openly gay actors said an insider. Well whatever the case be just make sure 'EMPIRE' will still be the show we LOVE!

Apple to Launch Streaming Service to Compete with Spotify, Pandora, Jay Z’s Tidal

The company will offer $10 per month unlimited streaming and DJ-hosted Internet radio

Apple is expected to announce a new music streaming and Internet radio service at its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) next week.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Apple plans to unveil a $10 per month unlimited streaming service to compete with Spotify, the current leader in music streaming. The company will also offer DJ-hosted and programmed Internet radio channels to compete with Pandora.

The company does not yet have licensing deals with the three biggest global music companies, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group and Sony Music Entertainment, but is expected to wrap up negotiations and secure those deals soon.

With its acquisition of Beats Music and its parent company for $3 billion last year, Apple already has 303,000 streaming subscribers it will eventually migrate to the new service.

However, Apple reportedly intends to let the new streaming service tempt users away from its download sales, where the average customer spends only $30 per year.

For the new Internet radio service, Apple has hired producers and DJs from BBC Radio 1, and is in talks to bring Q-Tip, Drake and Dr. Dre on to host.

This new streaming service could mean trouble for Jay Z’s Tidal. The hip-hop mogul’s streaming app was originally run by Swedish company Asprio, but Jay Z bought it for $56 million and relaunched the service in March. Since then, his subscription-only service has been besieged by branding problems, bad press, layoffs and the departure of CEO Andy Chen.

Drugs & Guns Seized At French Montana, Juelz Santana Video

Over the weekend, police recovered a large quantity of loaded guns and drugs at a rap video shoot attended by Busta Rhymes, French Montana and Juelz Santana. According to reports, the shoot took place in Brooklyn.

Police state that an impromptu crowd of about 200 performers, extras, and gawkers were spotted in Cypress Hills. When they arrived, police (who were in plain clothes) spotted what appeared to be a gun in the pants pocket of a security guard, which resulted in an arrest.

Tracy Morgan Cries on ‘Today’ Show in First Interview Since Accident!

“Pain will always be there,” the former “Saturday Night Live” star says

Tracy Morgan cried Monday in his first interview since he was seriously injured last June in a deadly car crash that killed his close friend, James McNair.

“The case is settled, but the pain is always going to be there for Jimmy Mac,” Morgan said. “Bones heal but the loss of my friend will never heal.”

Morgan and several friends were returning from a performance when the limo they were traveling in was hit from behind by a Walmart truck. The comedian suffered severe brain trauma and broken bones. Two other passengers were also seriously injured.

Last week, Walmart settled a lawsuit filed by Morgan. He said the company “stepped up to the plate in a tremendous way” and “they took full responsibility.”

A criminal complaint alleges that Walmart truck driver Kevin Roper had not slept for more than 24 hours and was driving 20 miles over the speed limit.

New ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Book to Be Released by EL James

June offering will tell the original story from Christian Grey’s point of view

If you’re not too physically tied up later this month, “Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James has a new summer reading offering.

The author took to Instagram on Monday to announce she’s releasing a new version of her literary hit, this time titled “Grey,” and written from Christian Grey’s perspective.

“Hello all. For those of you who have asked, Christian’s POV of #FSOG is published on 18th June for his birthday. It’s called GREY… I hope you enjoy it. #FiftyShades #Grey,” James wrote.

Erotic romance offering “Fifty Shades of Grey” sold more than 90 million copies worldwide by November 2013, and was translated into 52 languages. The critical reception wasn’t anywhere near as positive as the book’s popularity, however.

The Universal and Focus Features film adaptation (pictured above), released Valentine’s Day weekend of this year, also made big bucks, but was generally panned by critics.

“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” Unveils New Promo Poster

With just under six months to go, Lionsgate shared a brand new poster from “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” that seems to predict the fate of President Snow.

Slated to hit theaters on November 20th, 2015, the much-anticipated flick features Jennifer Lawrence, Donald Sutherland, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson.

Per the synopsis, “With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale, Finnick, and Peeta – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.”

Prince Jackson, Michael Jackson's Son, Graduates High School!

Wearing a black cap and gown with a red sash, Michael Jackson's son Prince Jackson graduated high school this weekend with honors and was joined at the celebration by members of his famous family.

The 18-year-old is the eldest child of the late King of Pop. He and his 17-year-old sister, Paris Jackson, and 13-year-old brother, Blanket Jackson, were all homeschooled initially. After their father died in 2009 at age 50, they moved in with his mother, Katherine Jackson, now 85, near Los Angeles. A year later, Prince and Prince started attending the private Buckley School near their suburban home.

Prince's high school graduation ceremony took place on Saturday. Hus aunt LaToya Jackson, 59, tweeted a sweet pic of the two.

"So very proud of @princemjjjaxon," she wrote. "YOU DID! And you did it with Honors!!! #buckleyclassof2015."

Cousin T.J. Jackson, 36, a member of the R&B and pop trio 3T and was made a co-guardian of Michael's children in 2012, posted an Instagram photo of himself with Prince, holding his diploma, at the ceremony.

"Prince, you have grown into an incredibly special young man," he said. "Words can't express how proud I am of you. I will ALWAYS be here to support you wherever life takes you. I love you!"

ABC News reported in 2010 that after Prince and Paris were enrolled at the Buckley School, they were accompanied by bodyguards who waited for them outside their classrooms and followed them around the campus.

Michael had also attended the Buckley School, along with his siblings, the outlet said. The singer and his siblings also had a private tutor who traveled when them on their Jackson 5 tours. 

Katherine and Paris, who recently made her red carpet debut with her boyfriend Chester Castellaw at an opening of a local production of Spring Awakening, also attended Prince's graduation

Michael's daughter was seen giving her brother a big hug, Us Weekly reported.

So what's next for Prince? College. And he's staying local. The teen said in April that he has chosen to attend Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, adding that it was a toss-up between that school and USC.

"I'm following what felt right for me, my family," he tweeted. "Since 1st visit, the campus felt like home for my next 4 years. #LMU19."

Danity Kane Drama Is Brewing! Aubrey O’Day & D. Woods Exchange Words

Earlier this year, when Danity Kane announced they were reuniting, we were all excited to see the girls back together again after so many years, but it was hard not to notice that they were missing a member — D. Woods.  At first D. seemed fine with the ladies getting together without her, and even said that she had a lot of other projects going on which would conflict with her joining the group again, but now the real tea is starting to spill.

After Danity Kane performed their first show together in LA to rave reviews, TMZ caught up with D. Woods and she revealed that she had wanted to be a part of the reunion but the girls moved on without her:

On why she was left out of the reunion

I found out about the Danity Kane reunion the same way everyone else did, on line and on TMZ. I was in rehearsal for a major production in Atlanta and heard they had a lunch in LA and I wasn’t invited. As you know its been 5 years and we all have been involved with projects to continue our careers when there was no communication or desire to reunite during that time. But when trying to explore options on how to reunite with them and honor prior commitments I was met with resistance and they chose to move on without me. I have always left the door open to considering the reunion.

On if she regrets her decision after they finally performed the other night

Based off of the information I was given, or lack there of, there’s nothing to regret when a decision is being made for me.

On how they were able to use the Danity Kane name

All five of members have always been and still are equal part owners in the name Danity Kane. Still having ties to the name and trade mark, when I was presented an opportunity for all five members for a TV show and tour, I shared that with the group’s manager. However, I was told they wanted to continue using the name as four. So we will see.

On if she had words for the ladies as they try to make a comeback

Our fans don’t have to pick sides. I’ve always wished you well and would love you to support me the same way. Thanks for your time and interest.

Meanwhile, Aubrey O’Day wasn’t feeling what D. Woods had to say to TMZ and hopped on Instagram to throw shade. She wrote:  “Do you spend your time taking interviews, or do you work?, and D. Woods clapped back, “That was cute @aubreyoday my attorney will be coming for my cut off that WORK #stillusingmyvocals.”

AM A friend of D. Woods Mr. L Davis also posted the real deal on his website of how the reunion came about, while saying that D. Woods initially said she was busy with solo projects as “damage control” because the other ladies didn’t want her in the group anymore.

I want to start with the production deal. Dwoods was working with this company in hopes of securing her own situation, once rumors started to swirl about a Danity Kane reunion that company approached her and was like, we can guarantee a tour, and television show for Danity Kane, but only if all five members sign on. The project she was working on by herself was tentative, but the deal offered to Danity Kane was definitive. So basically they were ready to green light a Danity Kane project, but “work on” a Dwoods project. Anybody knows that as a group they are more marketable and can make more money together, as five, than any of them solo.

When D brought this deal to their Manager Johnny Wright, he advised her that the group was not interested and that they wanted her to sign over her rights to Danity Kane. The girls, all five, have always owned the name and business Danity Kane. Although Dawn created the name, Dawn was not in the group alone. Dawn did not create the music alone. Danity Kane until this day is owned by all five original members. All of them, including dwoods, owing the same amount of shares.

As far as Dwoods saying she was “busy” which is why she didn’t join them, its called damage control. its like this you have a group of friends who are invited to a party and you aren’t. so when people ask you why you weren’t there you’re like “oh i had better things to do”. And although Dwoods did have other projects she was contractually obligated to fulfill, she never once told those girls no. But when they decided to move on without her what was she suppose to say?

If they really wanted dwoods to be a part of it they would have contacted her and said “Hey D when will you be done with your outstanding projects so we can set a date for all of us to reunite” that didn’t happen. Although they let Aubrey release “Between Two Evils” and Dawn “Goldheart” nobody rushed them through their project so its unfair for them to rush her. Not to mention I don’t know why Dawn is speaking on dwoods willingness to reunite or not seeing as though Dwoods and Dawn have not talked in about 4-5 years.

Until this day, you can google articles like the one below where dwoods says that “”If the opportunity presents itself, I would definitely be open to recording and/or performing with Danity Kane again.”

Its funny how they can shade someone who was a founding member of their group, yet turn around and use all of her vocals during their reunion show. If you listen to them perform show stopper at the reunion show, you hear nothing but dwoods, and she wasn’t even there.

Also many will ask why I go so hard, not only is she a friend of mine. But she went through a very grueling process to be a part of this group, as all 5 of them did. Its unfair that she is being shaded publicly by the same girls she once shared the stage with. Even if Dwoods did decide not to go back why say “dwoods who” and act like you don’t know who she is yet use her vocals in a reunion show that you didn’t invite her to be a part of?

Crazy thing is Dwoods still today says if their was a plan of action set in place she’d be down to reunite with them. But Dawn Richard and the Danity Kane’s aren’t having it.

Sounds like some shady business!

UMMMM Kimora Who is your New Man?

Kimora Lee Simmons must be totally over her ex Djimon Hounsou...because she and her new boo are already kissing it up on vacay with her kids and her other ex Russell Simmons.

Kimora was spotted on the beaches of Barbados bursting with smooches and smiles.  And apparently, it's all because of her new love interest Tim Leissner.  They must be pretty serious already seeing that she brought him to the annual Simmons family Holiday vacay with her kids and ex-husband.

Who's this Tim Leissner you ask?  Well, it's DR. Tim Leissner.  He holds a Ph.D. and is the Co-President of Goldman Sachs Singapore.  he does major investment banking in Southeast Asia, which means he knows how to keep some major cash flowing.  Not even mad KiKi.

Looks like Tim has already bonded with little Kenzo.

Ha! Kimora is looking fabulous and the kids are looking as adorable as ever.  Fun times!

Prince Jackson: Buff On The Beach

Enjoying Christmas in Hawaii, Michael Jackson's oldest son, Prince Jackson soaked up the sun and surf with friends at the Disney Aulani resort.

The 16-year-old wore a pair of blue trunks sporting the logo for the Gracie Academy where he practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and he and his boys showed off some muscle, showing off on the idyllic beach.

Posting a fun tweet in honor of Christmas time, Prince wrote about his trip with his friends and younger brother, writing, "Merry Christmas Eve, celebrate your family and friends:)"

The Christmas vacation Prince and younger brother Blanket are currently on will also act as a reunion between them and their 15-year-old sister Paris, who flew to the island from Paris on Saturday.

Chicago Rapper Hired Friends To Kill Mother For Insurance Money [PHOTOS]

Christmas Eve wasn't the usual festive time for an aspiring West Side Chicago rapper, this after he and two accomplices were charged in the arranged killing of his mother. Qawmane Wilson hired a pair of friends to carry out a hit on his mother just so he could gain access to her bank account and life insurance policies, police say.

Wilson, 24, was the lone son of Yolanda Holmes, a successful and well-liked beauty salon owner. According to reports, Holmes provided her son, also known as rapper Young QC, with a posh life but it appeared that wasn't enough. Holmes was murdered in September 2012 in a home invasion-styled killing, with Wilson reportedly orchestrating the whole plan.

Wilson was arrested Sunday (December 22) on a routine traffic stop. The accomplices, Eugene Spencer, 22, and Loraiana Johnson, 23, were arrested separately a day later. 

A report from the Chicago Tribune offers more detail.

From the Tribune:

Wilson was arrested Sunday after a police investigation determined he had arranged to "have his mother murdered," police said. He was charged with murder and home invasion.

Assistant State's Attorney Maura White said Wilson, who has his mother's name tattooed on his right shoulder according to court records, liquidated his mother's bank accounts, valued at over $90,000, a week after her death. He was also the beneficiary of two of her life insurance policies.

Spencer told the authorities that Wilson hired him to carry out the hit and admitted to killing stabbing and shooting Holmes. Spencer was also selected by Holmes' boyfriend, who was in the home during the shooting, out of a police lineup. Johnson served as the driver for Spencer as he carried out the gruesome crime.

Wilson is currently being held without bail and has been charged with murder and home invasion, sharing the same charges with Johnson. Spencer has been charged with first degree murder, home invasion, and aggravated discharge of a firearm.

Love is in the air apparently. Peep THAT diamond.  Evelyn Lozada is about to prove whether three times is really a charm as she JUST got engaged to her baby's father Carl Crawford.  The 7-months-pregnant Ev posted pics of the 14.5 carat Emerald cut sparkler to Instagram simply saying "Yes" and how she's the happiest girl in the world.  We're sure she is...

Like Dwyane Wade did for Gabby Union, Carl hit up Jason of Beverly Hills to design the engagement ring which we're pretty sure cost well over $1 mill.  But Carl can afford it...he has $82.5 million still to gain from his $142 million contract with the L.A. Dodgers.

Her daughter Shaniece tweeted her excitement about it as well.

The engagement comes on the heels of Carl reportedly ordering his other baby's mother (of his 5 month old and 9-year-old) to stay away from him.

Evelyn's had a busy month celebrating her birthday a couple weeks ago, announcing she's pregnant....then announcing the super rich father of her baby.  Looks like she's accomplished every reality chick's dream...a ring, guaranteed 18 more years of cash, and continued publicity to boot.

‘R&B Divas’ Newbies Lativa Roberson and Meelah Williams Film New Season

Last month, we shared news that two new DIVAS had joined the ‘R&B Divas’ franchise. Former Destiny’s Child member Latavia Roberson and former 702 member Kameelah “Meelah” Williams are the newbies joining R&B Divas Atlanta. Show creators and cast members Faith Evans and Nicci Gilbert will not be returning, nor will Latocha Scott. Filming is underway and the two new additions seem to be getting along quite nicely with the other ‘divas’. Monifa shared a photo of the gang having dinner, with the caption:

Latavia and Meelah have been out of the spotlight for a while, but with the reality show platform, viewers will get a glimpse into their new lives. Prior to snagging a gig on reality TV, Latavia gave birth to her first child in August, with music producer Don Vito. If his name sounds familiar, it’s because he was featured as a guest judge on Kandi Burrus’ spin-off show, “The Kandi Factory.” Speaking of RHOA, some people may recall Latavia’s appearance on the show back in 2010, while speaking to Phaedra Parks about breaking back into the music industry. Phaedra served as her attorney at the time. Latavia was in talks with reality TV producer Carlos King as well, for a reality show based on her life and pregnancy. She has also spoken out about turning to alcohol after being kicked out of Destiny’s Child, but has since overcome those struggles. Our guess is this and more will play out while the cameras are rolling.

Jennifer Hudson Shows Off Her Dramatic Weight Loss

It looks as though J. Hud is now part of team slim waist! Werk!

Over the last few years, we’ve seen Jennifer Hudson drop major pounds as the spokesperson for Weight Watchers, and judging from a few new photos, she’s at her smallest size ever.  This week, photos emerged of the actress in a bra and jeans combo and reactions from her fans varied, with some feeling as though she’s too thin [earlier in her career, she was told she was too big, so it seems as though she can't catch a break!].

It’s true that Jennifer looks even slimmer than usual, but it’s because she had to lose weight for a new movie titled “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete,” where she plays a heroin addict named Gloria. Back in October she told Huffington Post:

They did request that I lose about 10 pounds for [the movie.] I don’t know that I did. [Laughs] But for “Winnie,” I did. But for this one, it was just like, “Oh, if you could lose a little more weight.” But I did learn eventually that with heroin addicts, in doing our research, that it’s not necessarily like a physical thing where you’re too thin or too heavy.  [Director George Tillman Jr.] had this thing where Gloria was so into her drugs that she sacrificed the food, like, “I don’t want to eat, I just want to get high.” So that’s what stemmed her to look like she’s lost weight or she wasn’t eating or taking care of herself.

Teacher Suspended For Telling Student: "We Do Not Need Another Black President"

Teachers around the country have been under fire for their apparent issues with color as of late.

A teacher in New Mexico was recently suspended for his remarks regarding Santa's skin tone and now a Ohio teacher has been put on administrative leave for telling a student--who happened to be Black--that the United States does "not need another Black president."

Reports Journal-News:

The board Monday evening suspended Gil Voigt, who has been a teacher at the Freshman School for 13 years, said Board President Dan Murray. It is the first step in the process of terminating the teacher, he said.

Superintendent Paul Otten said the incident took place earlier this month when an African-American student expressed an ambition to be president.

Otten said Voigt had been reprimanded for racially insensitive remarks in the past. A report prepared by Assistant Superintendent Roger Martin lists four instances of discipline: A verbal warning in April 2008 for an “inappropriate racial comment,” another in November 2008 for “improper use of school technology” and a third in December 2013 for “inappropriate comments to students.” He also received a written warning last month for “failure to use adopted curriculum.”

It appears to be a trend with this guy. As a veteran teacher, Voigt has a current salary of $73,566, which is said to be nearly half of what the average teacher in Ohio currently makes.

There were no reports on when Voigt is set to return or if he'll exercise his right to an appeal.

The troubled “Toxic” singer’s heavily hyped eighth album, “Britney Jean,” debuted in a disappointing fourth place on the “Billboard” charts, making it the lowest-selling release in her career.

But Beyonce’s self-titled surprise album – which dropped with no pre-release promotion – shattered records to become the fastest selling ever on iTunes.

Now sources say Britney is lashing out at Beyonce!

“Britney’s album is a flop, but rather than take responsibility, she’s say¬ing it’s all Beyonce’s fault,” an insider told The ENQUIRER.

“As crazy as it sounds, Britney honestly believes Beyonce deliberately timed the release of her album to humiliate her.” Even worse, when Britney realized Beyonce’s album was trouncing hers, the “I’m a Slave 4 U” singer went on a rampage, said the source.

“Britney knocked a computer to the ground and forbade anyone in her camp from mentioning Be¬yonce’s name or playing hermusic,” revealed the insider. “Britney also went off on her dad Jamie, screaming at him and accusing him of mismanaging her career.”

With her reign as pop princess in jeopardy, friends fear the 32-year-old could be headed for another emotional collapse.

Britney suffered a complete psychotic breakdown in 2008 and was carted off to a mental ward at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

She remains under a court-ordered conservatorship, and sources say Britney’s latest meltdown threatens to derail her upcoming marriage to beau David Lucado.

As The ENQUIRER reported, the twice-divorced singer accepted the 28-year-old Virginia native’s proposal recently and began planning a wedding in Hawaii.

“Britney thought she’d wrap up 2013 as the queen bee of pop,” said the insider. “But Beyonce has clearly stolen that crown.”

Actor Steve Martin apologizes for posting a racist Tweet about African-Americans.

Steve Martin apologized for a racist joke on Twitter Friday night, then quickly deleted the tweet and continued saying he was sorry.

Martin was bantering with Twitter followers and turning their grammar questions into jokes when he was asked “is this how you spell lasonia?”

His response: “It depends. Are you in an African-American restaurant or at an Italian restaurant.”

Martin apologized and deleted the tweet, but screen shots and angry, disappointed reactions ricocheted around Twitter all evening.

Martin then expressed contrition again, tweeting that “I did apologize. But again, a second later I realized what an offensive thing I’d done.” He answered another tweet that told him “in retrospect, bad joke” with the response “Yeah, I learned that.”
