The Daily Buzz For April 25

Charlize Theron Takes Over V Magazine’s #101 Cover
Her new movie “The Huntsman: Winter’s War” is in theaters now so it’s no wonder Charlize Theron is featured on the front page of the new issue of V magazine.

The “Italian Job” dame worked with photographer Collier Schorr for her photo shoot, sporting tousled hair and hoop earrings in the cover shot.
Charlize commented on the plight of women in Tinseltown- “It’s brutal when you think of the truth of what we face in society, what it means for a woman versus what it means for a man. What we, especially women, consider to be our strengths and to be our weaknesses. That aging is a weakness that we think of it that way. Yet, it’s when we’re at our wisest. We’ve experienced everything and we should be considering ourselves the richest. We live in a society where women are treated like wilted flowers. They used to be pretty, but now they’re just kind of wilting.”

#RHOA: Kenya Moore Talks Bullying, IVF, And Pageants Vs. Real Housewives Of Atlanta!
Friday Kenya Moore appeared on The Dr. Oz Show to discuss beauty secrets, reconciling with her broken childhood, bullying, and baby plans!
Dr. Oz asks Kenya about the differences between being Miss USA and her present identity as Krayonce, chief sh*t-stirrer on Real Housewives Of Atlanta. According to Kenya she’s a “three-dimensional person,” which must be a fancy way of saying ‘has multiple personalities’.

In pageants “you’re… a Barbie Doll, and you’re presenting your best self to the world,” Kenya explains. “You’re not really put in controversial situations, but on reality TV – that’s all you’re put in!”

“It’s sort of, oxymoronic, to what I’m doing now,” Kenya explains, of beauty pageants vs. Bravo. “So you get to see me being multi-faceted.” Dr. Oz wonders about the way Kenya reacts to the controversial situations on Real Housewives Of Atlanta, and cites her interactions with Kim Fields. Dr. Oz wonders if Kenya’s behavior is considered bullying, as Kim previously suggested.

Kenya is adamant she only “reacts” to the other women targeting her. “I can stand up for myself and I don’t need to hurt anyone else.”
A large portion of Kenya’s interview was to delve into her painful childhood and her mother’s abandonment, which was also a major portion of Kenya’s story on Real Housewives Of Atlanta. The story featured when she wasn’t antagonizing other Housewives and not at all being a bully…

Kenya goes into detail about how “shocking” and hurtful her mother was – which continued into Kenya’s adulthood. Kenya says she has now moved on and recognizes that she is not responsible for her mother’s actions. Through positive thinking she has “let go of the hold” her mother had over her emotions. “I had to start with forgiveness. I had to not only forgive my mother…. I had to forgive myself.”
“For me to forgive her, and forgive myself, I’m releasing myself from that bondage.”

Part of that process was Kenya deciding to stop judging her mother’s actions. “I can’t take the position of [I’m] judging her, because I don’t know her entire story.”

Kenya believes sharing her truth (which she’s also writing about in a memoir) this season may have inspired other women confronting abandonment issues. “You have to be the positive in your life,” coaches Iyanla Kenya (Kenyanla?). “From there you can create the world you want. If you speak it into existence the laws of the universe will work for you.”

Is Kenya starting to HEAL, or NAH?

#NEWHIPHOP: Common Combat The Flint Water Crisis In “Trouble In The Water” [VIDEO]
Common continues to use his voice as a weapon for awareness in “Trouble In The Water.”
Common‘s hometown of Chicago is almost 300 miles away from Flint, Mich., but that’s not stopping him from lending his voice to the town’s highly publicized water crisis.
In a new video for a song called “Trouble In The Water,” Common can be seen dressed in all black rapping in a warehouse, surrounded by water that is ready to be shipped to those in need. In the song.

Common delivers lyrics drawing attention to mistreatment of the environment, and even his own feeling of helplessness in the matter:
“Water dirty like the police that flood the streets”
“We think our opponent is overseas, But we messing with Mother Nature’s ovaries.”
“I know I’m supposed to help, that’s what I’m made for/I’m a made man, but I ain’t a maid though.”
Common is backed by members of the Hip Hop Caucus, a non-profit organization created by Rev.Lennox Yearwood Jr., the man who helped Diddy start the 2004 “Vote Or Die” campaign. HHC artists Kumasi, Choklate, Aaron Fresh and Laci Kay also appear on the track.

WATCH HERE

“‘Trouble in the Water’ links the global climate crisis to local environmental justice crises in poor communities and communities of color, including the ongoing water disaster in Flint, MI,” said Rev. Yearwood Jr., in a statement. “Common and the entire team who worked on ‘Trouble in the Water’ have used art to convey a message that affirms the value of life over polluters’ greed. The crisis in Flint has put politics and profit over the lives of people. Now it is time to reverse that horrific process and create a compensation fund for victims of the Flint water crisis.”
The video is also a call to action. At the end it calls on viewers to sign a petition, from their Facebook or on peoplesclimatemusic.com, urging Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to start a compensation fund for victims of the Flint water crisis.

PRINCE MEMORIALIZED & CREAMTED: Friends and Family Gather for Late Legend’s Private Service at Paisley Park
Gone but never forgotten. Prince’s closest friends and family members gathered for a private memorial service at Paisley Park on Saturday, April 23.
Several arrangements of purple flowers and catered food were delivered to the late legend’s home in Chanhassen, Minnesota, earlier in the day before relatives and pals gathered for the intimate event.
Prince, who died on Thursday, April 21, at the age of 57, was cremated shortly after his body was released to his family following an autopsy on Friday, April 22.

Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye," the singer's rep told Us in a statement. "Prince’s remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private. We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort for his family and close friends at this time. The cause of death remains unknown and it will be at least four weeks before we receive the results of the autopsy. An announcement will be made at a future date for a musical celebration."
The “Purple Rain” singer’s protege and ex-fiancée Sheila Escovedo, better known as Sheila E., attended the memorial service on Saturday, as did half-brother Maurice Phillips, muse Damaris Lewis and bassist Larry Graham.
Fans of the “Kiss” crooner lined the fence of his home and recording studio with hundreds of flowers, signs and purple balloons. Some fans waiting outside on Saturday were greeted by Prince's sister, Tyka Nelson, who also handed out memorabilia in large round purple boxes.

Beyonce just released her new visual album exclusively on Tidal after premiering on HBO and crashed TIDAL's servers...
OOOPS! Also………. Rachel Roy Confirms Jay Z Side-Chick Status?

It has long been rumored that Damon Dash's ex-wife Rachel Roy is the reason Solange Knowles jumped Jay Z after the MET Gala back in 2014

Rachel Roy reignited the rumors with a vengeance by posting a picture on Instagram with the caption "Good hair don't care, but we will take good lighting, for selfies, or self truths, always."

Now what makes this interesting is last night Beyonce premiered her new album Lemonade on HBO with a song called Sorry were she sings,
“He only want me when I’m not there. He better call Becky with the good hair.”
and then this happened.
But Rachels claims her account was hacked and as far as the bullying she said

Erykah Badu Covers FADER: Talks Motherhood, Politics & Social Media
Erykah Badu rocks the cover of the latest issue of FADER – the Producers Issue. FADER met with the “Phone Down” singer at her Dallas, TX home for her cover shoot, and to chat with her about motherhood/being a doula, her recent tweets on school uniform skirt lengths and more.
Read highlights from her interview, and also catch photos from her Erykah’s accompanying shoot (a few with her daughter Mars) below..
On motherhood:
I love motherhood. It’s natural for me. Being a doula, or being a mom, or even, like, making food—it’s just breathing and trusting, and allowing the creativity to flow through.

In addressing her tweets, she states:
The first thing I look at when I read an article is the angle the author takes when approaching the story. Does he or she want to lead the readers to believe one thing or another? He or she will use quotes supporting their views, so it doesn’t often give the whole story. In the [Newshub article about hemlines at a New Zealand high school], I was able to see a 360 degree point of view that wasn’t actually presented by the author, so I wanted to express my opinion. I agreed with some parts of the article, and other parts I did not agree with.
There was a student in the article—she was interviewed on video—who I sympathized with. She said she’s just coming to school to learn, not to be sexualized. And I agreed with that. I’m sure that there were more interviews and more angles but since I didn’t see them in the article, I presented them on Twitter. I then went a step further and began to explain the biology and sexual nature of human beings. I wasn’t trying to make one particular point. Like I said in my original tweets, it’s a man and a boy’s responsibility to control himself. I said it’s deviant behavior to prey on young women and children. But I also said that in nature, men are attracted to young women. As bad as it sounds and as much as people don’t want to look at it like that, it’s true. But that doesn’t mean I support the behavior of choosing to act on such impulses. People are like, “Where did you learn this?” And I’m like, “I learned it in science class, in elementary school.”
On politics:
Politics. I don’t know how much we have a say…It’s a show, it’s a game. On the smaller scale, I think that your city reps and district reps are very serious about what they’re doing, and then when they get up a little higher it becomes a show. Everybody gets kinda turned out.”

This is the craziest sh*t I’ve ever seen in my life,” she says of Trump’s success so far. “Is this real? But”—cryptically, with a shrug—“it will become a reality, if that’s what the plan is.

On her children learning different languages at school:
I just wanted to make sure that whenever I take over the country, I have a secretary of state, defense, and a peace ambassador at hand.

New Jersey woman who set her baby on fire and left her to die gets 30 years in prison

Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier will spend the next 30 years of her life in prison for setting her newborn daughter on fire and leaving her to die in the middle of a street.
Dorvilier, of New Jersey, plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter in February. Prosecutors say the 23-year-old admitted dousing her newborn daughter with lighter fluid and using a lighter to set her on fire in January 2015.

A neighbor rescued the newborn but she died hours later at a Philadelphia hospital from third-degree burns over 60 percent of her body.
The neighbor held Dorvilier on the ground until emergency responders arrived. Someone wrapped the newborn in a towel and paper.
“I was on a downward spiral. I believe I hit my rock bottom,” Dorvilier said in open court Friday.
“I apologize first and foremost for not giving my daughter, Angelica, the life she deserved. She deserved so much better.”

Dorvilier reportedly hid her pregnancy from her mother and sister. The baby’s umbilical cord and placenta were still attached when she was found.
Dorvilier’s sister, Dejennie, pleaded with the judge for leniency and mental help for her sister.
But the judge said 30 years was “the sentence that justice requires.”
“The crime in this case was committed against the weakest of the weak, a helpless newborn,” said Judge Terrence Cook, without taking Dorvilier’s mental status into account.
Although the prevalence of mental illness among white inmates is higher than among black inmates, black offenders with mental illnesses are nearly always sentenced to prisons instead of mental hospitals.

“We’ve, frankly, criminalized the mentally ill, and used local jails as de facto mental health institutions,” said Alameda County health director Alex Briscoe in a 2014 PBS documentary on mental illness behind bars.

The Daily Buzz For April 19

Drake, Ryan Reynolds And Harry Styles: GQ’s Most Stylish Men In The World!
With so many handsome hunks from which to choose, GQ has made the almost-impossible selection of the 2016 best-dressed dudes.

In the May 2016 Most Stylish Men in the World issue, the men’s publication singles out Drake, Tom Hardy, Ryan Reynolds and Harry Styles as the gents with the hottest threads.
GQ writes, “No disrespect to the Hall of Famers — from Kanye to Clooney, Gosling to Pharrell — but this year we’re feeling a different, right-this-second strain of pro-level style. We speak of men who look just as sharp on the street as they do on the red carpet. Who realize that, in the camera-phone age, every little walk to the corner can turn into a photo op. And who rarely bother with suits — but when they do, they really make it count.”

SADNESS: 'Everybody Loves Raymond' star Doris Roberts dies at 90

Doris Roberts, who played the tart-tongued, endlessly meddling Marie Barone on "Everybody Loves Raymond," has died, a family spokeswoman said. She was 90.
Roberts died overnight in her sleep, spokeswoman Janet Daily said Monday. Daily was told of the death by Roberts' son, Michael Cannata.

The cause of death was not immediately known. Roberts had been healthy and active, Daily said.
Last month, Roberts appeared at an actors' union event that focused on the scarcity of female directors in entertainment. She asked the panel why there were so few roles for elder actors.
Roberts won four Emmy Awards for her work on "Raymond," receiving a total of seven nominations as best supporting actress for the sitcom.
Actor Ray Romano, who co-starred with Roberts on the CBS show, said in a statement Monday that she "had an energy and a spirit that amazed me. She never stopped.

"Whether working professionally or with her many charities, or just nurturing and mentoring a young, green comic trying to make it as an actor, she did it all with such a grand love for life and people and I will miss her dearly."
Actress Patricia Heaton, who portrayed Roberts' daughter-in-law, posted her remembrances on Twitter.

To my beloved Marie - RIP. pic.twitter.com/TtZCySQnLK

— Patricia Heaton (@PatriciaHeaton) April 18, 2016
"We loved our mom, the great #DorisRoberts. A wonderful, funny, indelible actress and friend," Phil Rosenthal, the show's producer, posted on his Twitter account.
The sitcom, which aired from 1996 to 2005, also starred Brad Garrett and Peter Boyle, who played Roberts' husband Frank Barone. Boyle died in 2006.
Comedian Denis Leary tweeted that Roberts "made me laugh so hard so many times. (hash)everybodylovesmarie."

Roberts also was known for her role in the 1980s TV detective series "Remington Steele." She appeared on stage and in a variety of movies, including "The Rose," "The Taking of Pelham One Two Three" and "Madea's Witness Protection."
But it was the hugely successful "Everybody Loves Raymond" that "put my career over the top," Roberts told The Associated Press as the show wrapped its run.
Roberts, then 79, fretted openly about what she would do next. "Who knows after this? Nobody writes for older people," she said.
Yet her list of TV and movie credits continued to grow, with projects from 2015, including the TV movie "Merry Kissmas," and others slated to be released this year.

Roberts was born Nov. 4, 1925, in St. Louis and grew up in New York, Daily said.
The actress began her stage career on Broadway in the 1950s, amassing credits that eventually included Neil Simon's "The Last of the Red Hot Lovers" and Terrence McNally's "Bad Habits."

In early TV appearances, she was seen in episodes of "Studio One," "The Naked City" and "The Defenders."
Roberts received her first Emmy Award in 1983, for her supporting role on the series "St. Elsewhere." She received a total of 11 nominations for her TV work overall, including her bids for "Raymond."
An enthusiastic cook, Roberts co-wrote "Are You Hungry, Dear? Life, Laughs, and Lasagna," a memoir with recipes, in 2005.
Besides her son, she is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jane, and three grandchildren, Kelsey, Andrew, and Devon Cannata.

#RHOA: The Beyhive Drags Kenya Moore After She 'Shades' Singer With 'Distasteful' Post With The Rapper!
Beyonce might have shouted out Kenya Moore and her Bravo The Real Housewives of Atlanta taglines a couple of times, but that didn’t seem to matter to fans who came for the reality star.
It’s all because she shared a throwback photo of her and Beyonce’s husband, Jay Z, amid speculation that Beyonce and the rapper are splitting up. In the snapshot, Moore was sitting in a car with Jay Z on the set of the Money Ain’t A Thang video.
She wrote, “#TBT On set of #moneyaintathang with Jay-Z circa 1998 #happytoworkwithhim such a gentleman and talented rapper turned mogul #booked #ineedanewbentley #funtimes #setlife. Wish@beyonce was there #KenyaMoore #RHOA”
While Moore probably didn’t mean any harm, some of Beyonce fans couldn’t’ help but call her out for snuggling up to Jay Z, even if it was in a vintage photo.
“She was soooo messy for this…”
Some even accused Moore of throwing “shade” at Beyonce.

“Did she try to go after the queen??”
Another made it clear, “Bey couldn’t make it because she was too busy becoming Beyonce making millions at the tender age of 17 she wasn’t checking for Jay yet but that shade was so cute”
One fan pointed out that Jay Z “looks like [Moore] was getting on his nerves!!!”
One kept it simple with, “How dare she tag Bey!!!”

“Your new name is messy boots. Very distasteful,” one fan added.\
Another fan revealed that Moore actually changed her caption that originally read, “Keyonce & Jay-z”… they added, “As if she was insinuating something…”

#TEAMEMPIRE: Fox’s Midseason Return of ‘Empire’ Tops Broadcast Week in Demo: L+7 Ratings
Spring cap sap the ratings strength of just about any show, but Fox’s “Empire” looked very strong as it resumed its second season three weeks ago.

According to “live plus-7” estimates for the week of March 26-April 3, released Monday by Nielsen, “Empire” averaged a 6.5 rating in adults 18-49 — rising 35% from its same-day average (4.8) to finish 1 full point ahead of broadcast runner-up “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS (5.5) and nearly 3 points ahead of the next closest broadcast drama, ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” (3.7). AMC’s “The Walking Dead” ruled the week overall with a 9.6 in the demo.

The 6.5 rating was about on par with “Empire’s” fall finale on Dec. 2 (6.6). And in 7-day multi-platform overall audience, the midseason return (18.5 million) slightly outdrew its 2015 closer (18.4 million); this figure includes 16.7 million linear viewers and about 1.8 million via 7-day streaming on Hulu and Fox Now.
The Individualists celebrates the art of storytelling in a series of portraits and short films. Personal anecdotes from independent leaders in film explore individuality and its affect on their lives.

For the season, “Empire” leads all broadcast entertainment series in L+7 adults 18-49 rating (7.2). Its multi-platform average audience is 22.7 million, or 80% more than its same-day total (12.6 million).

In other L+7 highlights for the week of March 26-April 3, the season finale of “The Walking Dead” (9.6) was 14% lower than its year-ago closer (11.1); CBS’ “Supergirl” (2.5) shot up 25% week to week with its “The Flash”-crossover storyline; ABC’s “The Catch” (1.8) retained 90% of its previous week’s premiere rating (2.0); and NBC’s “Shades of Blue” (2.0) ended its run in line with its most recent performances, finishing with an average 64% higher than “The Player” in the same timeslot (2.3 vs. 1.4).

FX’s “The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story” saw the biggest percentage spike of the week in L+7, rising 164% from its same-day average (2.9 vs. 1.1). Jumping nearly as much was AMC’s “Better Call Saul” (up 150%, 0.8 to 2.0).

“I just met with Mona last week and we’re trying to do this thing right,” Trick Daddy said while speaking with Bossip. “Put some real Miami bitches and real Miami niggas on the show...One thing I won’t do is make a fool of myself. UGH! Father Charged In Fatal Shooting Of 4-Year-Old Girl
PHILADELPHIA (AP)  The Latest on the fatal shooting of a 4-year-old Philadelphia girl (all times local):
8:50 p.m.
Philadelphia police have charged a man in the fatal shooting of a 4-year-old girl.
Investigators say Maurice Phillips turned himself in Saturday night, and admitted he was responsible for the young girl’s death.
Phillips, who is either the girl’s father or stepfather, is charged with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police say the girl was shot in the face Saturday afternoon at a home in the city’s Kensington neighborhood. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators initially said the girl was shot by her 5-year-old sibling and they were searching for the child’s father or stepfather, who was believed to have owned the gun.
Phillips later told police that it was an accident, and the 5-year-old sibling had nothing to do with it.

Police say the parent of a 4-year-old girl killed in Philadelphia has confessed to accidentally shooting her.
Authorities originally believed the child was shot by her young brother.
Investigators said the girl was shot in the face by her father or stepfather in a home in the Kensington neighborhood shortly before 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
Police previously said the girl was shot by her 5-year-old sibling and were searching for the child’s father or stepfather, who was believed to have owned the gun used.
But Sgt. Eric Gripp said Sunday the man turned himself in Saturday night and ultimately admitted to shooting the victim.
Gripp said the parent “stated that the sibling had nothing to do with it.” His identity has not been released.

Meet Big Tigger’s New Girl! He Has Moved On From Now Married Ex Keisha Knight Pulliam To A Certain Rapper’s Ex!
For “RHOA” star Peter Thomas’ new nightclub opening of Club One in Charlotte, a few of his Atlanta friends flew into North Carolina to support. One of those friends was V103 host Big Tigger. And look who he brought as his date:
Nope, not Todd Tucker. He had Jamaican beauty queen Rebecca Silvera on his arm. You may recognize her from VH1’s “You Got Game” as the one who won rapper The Game’s heart. At least she did on the show. They seemingly got it in at a hotel one night on the show, a few episodes later he chose her as the winner, and they were “broken up” pretty much before the show even aired.
But it looks like Rebecca has rebounded, and so has Tigger after his break up with his now married ex Keshia (Knight Pulliam) Hartwell.

We’re told they arrived together, left together and are definitely a couple….LOL!

Broadway’s Hamilton Wins 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama
*“Hamilton,” Broadway’s sold-out hip-hop history lesson on Alexander Hamilton, has just nabbed the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Per Variety:
The Pulitzer win could be the first of many victories for “Hamilton.” Much of the theater industry considers the show’s sweep of the Tony Awards as a foregone conclusion.
“The Humans,” Stephen Karam’s subtly drawn portrait of one American family’s anxieties, was one of the few obvious titles that seemed likely to give “Hamilton” a little competition; that play was named a 2016 finalist, as was Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ “Gloria.”
“Hamilton’s” victory came during the centennial year for the Pulitzers, which recognize excellence in the arts and in journalism.

Congrats to them!

JACKSON BABY WATCH: Jackson Family Insider Reveals Janet And Wissam Al-Mana Are Planning First Baby Via Surrogate Or Adoption?
Ever since Janet Jackson announced she was postponing her tour to plan a family fans have been wondering how she would be able to have a baby, considering she’s 49 already. Now a source close to her claims she won’t actually be carrying the child.

According to RadarOnline reports:
A source close to the Jackson family told RadarOnline.com exclusively that fans have nothing to fear. In fact, they have something to celebrate! According to a source, Jackson, 49, is getting ready to become a mom.
“Janet has put her fans first her whole life. They are her world and, of course, she is devastated that she had to postpone the tour for another year,” the insider said.

“But Janet’s health crisis this year really made her much more aware of her age,” the source told Radar. “She is approaching 50 and at this stage of her life all that she wants is to become a mother.”
According to the Jackson family insider, “Janet postponed her tour because she is going to be adopting a child or using a surrogate to have a baby in the next couple of months,” with billionaire husband Wissam Al Mana.

“She is devoted to her husband and has decided to put his needs before her own needs right now,” the source added. “He really wants to start a family with her.”

We’re glad to hear that Janet and Wissam may at least attempt to have a biological child, but we welcome a new addition to the family how ever they’re able to make it happen. This is a great time in Ms. Jackson’s life and we are soon happy for her!
