#RHOA: NeNe Leakes Claims She Worked On ‘Mending’ Relationships With ‘her Co-Stars!
So now NeNe Leakes wants to be the cast ‘peacemaker’ and is trying to be a key player in rekindling old friendships? NeNe took to Instagram on Aug. 4 and shared a cryptic message about “making amends.” Well it looks like she’s trying despite NeNe’s past feuds with several of her fellow cast members, she happily posed alongside Porsha Williams, Kenya Moore, Cynthia Bailey, Eva Marcille, and Kandi Burruss. Also tagged in the snapshot was NeNe’s BFF Marlo Hampton and Tanya Sam. According to sources she has been “instrumental” in bringing the ladies all together again.
“NeNe has been instrumental in being the peacemaker for the entire cast of RHOA and mending relationships, not just her own,” the insider said. “NeNe really has been helping getting the ladies to talk to one another about their feelings. NeNe is so over the drama and everyone being mean to one another. There has been a ton of tension between all of the ladies, and she’s really stepped up since she’s the OG of the franchise, almost like a mother hen, in getting everyone to be open and talk and rebuilding connections and relationships.”
“The trip was a great step in the right direction to getting everyone on the same page and making progress for so many broken relationships among the cast,” the pal added. “Photos from Toronto symbolizes the recent unity between all of the ladies.”
As RHOA fans will remember, tensions rose after the wild season 11 finale, during which NeNe went off when Kandi, Porsha, and a cameraman went into her closet during a party without her permission. NeNe leapt up and ripped at the unnamed cameraman’s shirt to prevent him from going further. Porsha claimed during the reunion episode that he went to the hospital after the altercation.
#Empire: ‘ALERT’ A Spin-Off from the Show is Still A Possibility!
While we fans may be saying goodbye to Empire this fall, their story may be far from being completely over. Fox’s CEO Charlie Collier alluded to the possibility that there may be more of this story in the future.
On the potential of spinoffs, he says:
“We’re in the Lee Daniels and Danny Strong business, if there is more story to tell we want to hear it”.
While the last season will air this fall, Collier re confirmed that Jussie Smollett still will not return.
Jussie played Jamal Lyon since the inception of the show. Earlier this year, he was involved in a controversy after he claimed to have been a victim of an alleged hate crime assault against. The criminal charges against him have been dismissed, but he was written out of the final episode of season 5 and will not return for the final season. Jussie has maintained his innocence.

Halle Bailey Responds To ‘Little Mermaid’ Casting Backlash
After being cast as Ariel in Disney’s upcoming live-action reboot of The Little Mermaid, many on social media celebrated the announcement, while others took issue with Disney’s choice of a new black princess, starting the hashtag #NotMyAriel.
But the 19-year-old, who makes up one half of the Grammy-nominated duo Chloe x Halle, is brushing off the negativity. During Variety‘s Power of Young Hollywood event in Los Angeles, Bailey spoke about landing the coveted role in the remake of the 1989 animated classic.
“I feel like I’m dreaming,” she told Variety. “And I’m just grateful and I don’t pay attention to the negativity; I just feel like this role was something bigger than me and greater. And it’s gonna be beautiful. I’m just so excited to be a part of it.”
Bailey has received support from many in Hollywood including the original voice of Ariel, Jodi Benson. When asked about the casting, Benson told ComicBook.com, “The most important thing is to tell the story. And we have, as a family, we have raised our children, and for ourselves, that we don’t see anything that’s different on the outside. I think that the spirit of a character is what really matters. What you bring to the table in a character as far as their heart, and their spirit, is what really counts.”
Her older sister Chloe, 21, who stars alongside her on “Grown-ish,” couldn’t be prouder. “Heck yeah! I was more than proud. I was screaming and crying. She worked so hard,” she told PEOPLE.
Halle admits that she is nervous to take on the role without her sister by her side. “It is definitely a little bit nerve-racking because I am the little sister,” she told Variety. “I am so used to [us] always going through these challenging moments in our career together, [but] I am beginning to understand that this film is so much bigger than me.”
Others including Halle Berry and Zendaya have also voiced their support for Bailey.

Lil Nas X is on the move. The 20-year-old “Old Town Road” viral hit-maker was spotted at LAX airport on Wednesday (August 7) in Los Angeles.
Lil Nas X was spotted wearing Nike rainbow Pride sandals and wearing headphones as he made his way through the airport. He recently came out as gay during Pride season on social media.
He recently beat the all-time longest running No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 record, which Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men previously held with “One Sweet Day.”
ICE Mississippi Immigration Raids Lead To Arrests Of Over 600 Workers
Federal immigration officials raided several food-processing plants in Mississippi on Wednesday and arrested approximately 680 people believed to be working in the U.S. without authorization.
The coordinated raids were conducted by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations "at seven agricultural processing plants across Mississippi," according to an ICE statement. In addition to the arrests, agents seized company business records.
More than 600 ICE agents were involved in the raids, surrounding the perimeters of the targeted plants to prevent workers, mainly Latino immigrants, from escaping. The actions were centered on plants near Jackson owned by five companies, according to The Associated Press.
One of the plants is owned by Koch Foods Inc., which bills itself as one of the largest poultry processors in the U.S. with more than 13,000 employees. Forbes ranks it as the 135th largest privately held company in the country, with an estimated $3.2 billion in annual revenue, according to Fortune.
Another plant raided Wednesday is in Canton, Miss., and is owned by Peco Foods Inc., based in Tuscaloosa, Ala. It is the eighth-largest poultry producer in the U.S., according to the company's website.
No representatives for either company responded to an email request or telephone call for comment.
The arrested workers were bused to a local Mississippi National Guard hangar, where they were interviewed about their immigration status, including whether they already had deportation orders.
"Today's raids are part of the ongoing war against immigrant families and the communities in which they live," Julia Solórzano, an attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center, said in an emailed statement. "It is especially sickening that days after immigrants were targeted by a gunman in El Paso, Texas, workers at plants across Mississippi witnessed armed agents descending on their workplace.
"It's also worth noting that immigration agencies that have repeatedly blamed 'over capacity' detention facilities for the horrific treatment of those imprisoned nevertheless detained more than 600 people today," she said.
The size of the raid operation harks back to 2008 when, under the George W. Bush administration, more than 400 unauthorized workers were arrested in a meatpacking facility in Iowa.

It’s about to get real over at CNN. The network has reportedly fast-tracked a development into an all-Black political panel show, starring April Ryan, Andrew Gillum, Angela Rye, and Bakari Sellers.
The concept was fast-tracked after the positive responses the group received during the Democratic debates last week. The news is being met with great excitement from everyone involved.
Andrew Gillum tweeted last week “Black by popular demand,” calling the four of them the dream team.
As reported by Page Six: “It was the most excitement on that morning show since Chris Cuomo left as co-anchor,” a source said. “CNN is fast-tracking talks … to develop it into a stand-alone show. The early chatter is that it could start as a weekend show that would rival MSNBC’s programming with Joy Reid, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and Kendis Gibson.”
CNN, however, did not comment when asked by the publication.

Idris Elba Rides a Horse for 'Ghetto Cowboy' Filming
Idris Elba rides on a horse while getting ready to kick off filming for his new movie Ghetto Cowboy on Thursday (August 8) in Philadelphia, Penn.
The 46-year-old actor was seen riding alongside a crew member as they began work on the film for the day.
If you don’t know, Ghetto Cowboy was originally a book written by Gregory Neri.
Idris signed on to the role last year, and at the time, said, “[The] brilliant script combines the energy and grit of an urban movie with the poetry and romance of the urban cowboy way of life.”
According to Variety, the film follows 15-year-old Cole, who’s forced to live with his estranged father Harp (Elba) in North Philadelphia, where, despite the surrounding poverty and violence, he discovers the redemptive world of urban horseback riding.

Simone Biles to USA Gymnastics: 'You had literally one job and you couldn't protect us'
Simone Biles, wiping away a tear, acknowledged to reporters Wednesday at the U.S. Championships how hard it is to compete for an organization that “had failed us so many times.”
Biles, who is going for a historic sixth all-around title this weekend in Kansas City, Missouri, again took USA Gymnastics (USAG) to task for failing to protect her and other athletes who were abused by team doctor Larry Nassar over the course of decades.
Biles: ‘You had one job, you couldn’t protect us’ The 22-year-old Biles announced in January 2018 on the eve of Nassar’s sentencing for sexual assault, that she too was abused by the Olympic and national team doctor. Hundreds of others have said they were also abused.
Biles has continued to speak out about the scandal and the organization’s failures as she’s racked up 19 consecutive all-around victories. She was asked about it during media availability ahead of the championships.
“We had one goal and we’ve done everything that they’ve asked for, even when we didn’t want to, and they couldn’t do one damn job,” she said, via Will Graves at the Associated Press. “You had one job. You literally had one job and you couldn’t protect us.”
Her comments came days after a congressional subcommittee found negligent behavior by former U.S. Olympic Committee and USA Gymnastics executives that enabled Nassar.
“The more I learn, the more I hurt,” she wrote. “USAG failed us. USOC failed us. Many failed us. And they continue to fail us.”
Panel will propose a bipartisan bill that aims to change the USOPC’s governance structure in an attempt to protect athletes.
Biles, a four-time gold medalist at the 2016 Rio Olympics, told reporters Wednesday seeing news bout the scandal is difficult and can “hit you like a train wreck,” per NBC Sports. She continues to try and heal, but the lasting trauma makes certain aspects difficult.
“And it's just really sad, every time I go to the doctor or training I get worked on, it's like I don’t want to get worked on. But my body hurts. I'm 22 and at the end of the day that's my fifth rotation. And I have to go through therapy but it's just hard and we try to work through it. It will take some time.
"I'm strong. I'll get through it. But it's hard."
Nassar, who also assaulted gymnasts in his role at Michigan State University, is serving a life sentence and earlier this week his former boss at MSU, William Strampel, was sentenced to one year in jail in part for failing to properly oversee Nassar.
USAG president and CEO Li Li Leung, who was appointed in February, released a statement to NBC News acknowledging the organization has more work to do.
"Simone Biles is undoubtedly the best gymnast in the world and possibly of all time. She is an outstanding representative for gymnastics and the United States. We will continue to work hard to demonstrate to Simone and all of our athletes, members, community and fans that we are working to foster a safe, positive and encouraging environment where athlete voices are heard."
Leung is the fourth president in 23 months for the organization as it tries to steer out of the abuse scandal. After being criticized for comments during a TV interview in April, Leung said she had yet to meet with Biles.
Biles called out Mary Bono when she was interim president for potentially alienating sponsors, specifically Nike, last autumn.
The star will begin competition Friday with the championships on Sunday

Aaron Carter's Family Fears He's Suicidal, Calls Cops
Aaron Carter's inner circle fears that the former child star is a danger to himself, so a family member called the cops to perform a welfare check, as per TMZ.
On Thursday (August 8), the celebrity gossip outlet reported that authorities stopped by his Lancaster home on Wednesday morning due to concerning statements that Carter made last week around the time that he and his girlfriend, Lina Valentina, broke up. The family member, who called the authorities, was worried that the 31-year-old star was going to take his own life or hurt someone else. They also feared he was doing drugs and might overdose. While Carter was not home at the time of the visit, law enforcement sources revealed that he did ultimately meet with them and they determined all was fine.
Meanwhile, sources close to Carter revealed that the singer is upset that his former flame potentially had a hand in sending authorities to his residence. Despite their breakup, Valentina was staying at his house after they called it quits and was kicked out on Wednesday. Needless to say, she was not happy with the move. Carter's attorney has since told TMZ that the star would like a "smooth breakup" and has threatened legal action against her if she doesn't back off.
Earlier this week, Carter made headlines after he was accused of adopting dogs and selling them for profit. While it's not against state law, the L.A. County Animal Care and Control admit they certainly frown upon the practice.
