The Daily Buzz For March 5 ☕📰☕

Solange for Billboard: Speaks on Music, Fashion and More!
She is the younger sister of music icon Beyonce. And Solange Knowles recently revealed she's 'not interested in entertainment' while posing on the cover of the March issue of Billboard.
The 31-year-old singer said: 'I’m clear within myself that I’m not interested in entertainment at this moment,' when asked about her professional focus.

Solange continued her statement: 'That might change. There might be a moment where I decide, "Hey, I love the game." For right now, I’m not [there].'
The mother-of-one changed up her look by swapping her black gown for a turtleneck bodysuit, which highlighted her toned legs.
In 2016, Solange went straight to number one on the US Billboard 200 chart with A Seat at the Table.
The album was hailed by fans for it's politically-charged lyrics and nod to black womanhood, much like sister Beyonce's chart-topping Lemonade album.
The duo made history when they became the first sisters to have number one albums on the Billboard 200 during the same year.
Earlier this month, the talented artist was named Harvard Foundation artist of the year.

#RHoA: NeNe Leakes Calls Kim Zolciak ''A Big Fat Lie'' over her Racially Charged Lawsuit!
NeNe Leakes isn't holding back when it comes to Kim Zolciak-Biermann. During an interview with E!'s Daily Pop today, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star revealed that she has yet to hear from Zolciak-Biermann's lawyer regarding a supposed lawsuit.

In case you missed it, back in October Leakes called Zolciak-Biermann and her daughter Brielle Biermann "racist trash" after the 21-year-old shot a video allegedly taken inside Leakes' house of a bug crawling on the floor.
In which back then Zolciak-Biermann revealed, "I've hired a legal counsel at this point. I don't take this lightly. It's one thing like I said to kind of banter back and forth and have an opinion. This is far beyond just having an opinion."

"Listen. Every time Kim opens her mouth, it's most of the time, at least eighty percent of the time, a big fat lie," Leakes revealed today. "No lawyer has ever contacted me about a lawsuit dealing with Kim. She's gone out everywhere saying she has a lawsuit. Well, they need to contact me at some point, don't you think?"
When the show's co-host Morgan Stewart asked if Leakes has a place in her heart for Zolciak-Biermann despite their feud, she made her answer loud and clear.

"No, let me explain," she said. "I do have a golden heart, which is why I have agreed to be in situations with Kim so many times. This season when I came back to the show, my heart was very open to Kim. I wanted us to have a good time. Every time I was around her, I made sure to compliment her to make her comfortable. She never brought good energy, she was always very mean."

She continued, "I need everyone to understand, Kim does not want to be friends with me. She wants to be the bigger person and see, the two of us together, I get attention and you're never going to be bigger than me, child. Just go on somewhere."

"I harbor no bad feelings towards Kim," Leakes said. "I just have nothing to do with her. She's not going to be in my life, I don't even want to speak to her."

#EMPIRE: Gabby Sidibe slammed Hollywood for paying her male co-stars more than her
"The only difference is genitals."

Gabourey Sidibe has never backed down from a fight, and she's not going to start now. The actress is living proof that it's possible to initiate change in Hollywood, which is why she's speaking out about a major issue female stars are STILL dealing with.
Sidibe attended the Essence Black Women in Hollywood event where she discussed pay inequality in Hollywood.
"Oscar nominated or not, I'm paid less than my male co-stars, in the same way a lot of women are," she said.
According to a recent study, women have the "potential" to make just as much as their male counterparts on one condition.
The study explained women need an additional degree in order to earn as much as their male counterparts, even if the men only have a single degree. Sounds fair, right?

We can only hope that Hollywood will start listening to people like Sidibe and lasting change will come for all women.

#NEWMUSICVIDEO from Chris Brown – ‘Tempo’
Chris Brown takes us on a grungy yet futuristic dance voyage in his latest music video for “Tempo,” a song from his platinum-certified album, ‘Heartbreak On A Full Moon.’

In the clip, Brown and his crew of dancers deliver an apocalyptic vibe to what looks to be a peaceful neighborhood, specifically Temp St. The ragamuffin cliche don face paint like something out of a Zombie film, go on a dancing crime spree on top of a truck and in a bunch of houses before robbing the joints bats and nunchucks. They even got the local Paperboy to join the crew.

The “tempo” visual follow brown’s recent collaborations: Blac Youngsta’s “Booty (Remix)” With Jeezy & Trey Songz and “Stranger Things” with Joyner Lucas.

#HIPHOPREWIND: De La Soul ‘Three Feeet and Rising’
1989: Three friends from New York decide to join up and form a rap group, then made a tremendous impact with their first album.

Dave, Posdnuos and Maceo originally formed the rap trio De La Soul in 1987. The group stuck out from the crowd, through their Afrocentric, yet off-kilter, style of dress and positive subject matter. They all met up in a Long Island high school, and after releasing some early music, caught the attention of legendary producer Prince Paul. This union would prove vital, as he would have a hand in every beat on De La Soul's debut album, 3 Feet High and Rising, which dropped on this day in 1989.

De La Soul's first full-length album was a runaway success. 3 Feet High and Rising peaked at No. 24 on the Billboard 200, and led the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The singles before the album's release were "Plug Tunin,'" which is the song that won Prince Paul over, and "Potholes in My Lawn," which hit No. 22 on the 1988 Hot Rap Singles chart. After the album dropped, the timeless "Me, Myself and I" was the biggest single. The song hit No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and the Hot Rap Singles charts. It also peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Outside of the accolades, 3 Feet High and Rising was the polar opposite of street rap, which was heating up at the time. De La Soul never aimed to be the antithesis to what was going on in rap, even though the media used them as such. They were three guys who loved rap, being themselves the best way they knew how.

The Independent Spirit Awards winners 2018: SEE THE FULL LIST!
No Sunken Place here – Get Out was crowned Best Feature at the 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday.
Jordan Peele’s social thriller picked up the top prize at the awards ceremony celebrating independent films, traditionally held on the eve of the Oscars. Peele also received the Best Director award earlier in the ceremony.

“I think it’s clear to everybody in this room and across the country and across the world that we are in the beginning of a renaissance right now where stories from the outsider, stories from the people in this room — the same stories that independent filmmakers have been telling for years — are being honored and recognized and celebrated,” Peele said, accepting the Best Feature prize. “I’m so proud to be here with this group of people receiving this.”

Frances McDormand also continued her streak of landing leading actress prizes for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri — but this time, she noted, she could curse during the IFC-aired telecast without having to worry about being bleeped. “Do you know how hard it’s been not to swear these past few months?” she asked. “Because this awards convention goes on for-f—ing-ever.”

I, Tonya’s Allison Janney and Three Billboards’ Sam Rockwell also shored up their status as supporting actress and actor frontrunners with wins in their respective Spirit Awards categories. Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet won the award for Best Male Lead, while Lady Bird writer-director Greta Gerwig won Best Screenplay.
The Film Independent Spirit Awards have correctly predicted the Oscars’ Best Picture winner the last four years running, including last year with Moonlight. Whether that streak holds will be revealed at Sunday’s Academy Awards ceremony, where Get Out competes against presumed frontrunners The Shape of Water and Three Billboards — both of which were not nominated in the Spirits’ Best Feature category — as well as Call Me By Your Name, Dunkirk, Darkest Hour, Lady Bird, Phantom Thread, and The Post.

Check out the full list of Film Independent Spirit Awards winners below.

Tiffany Haddish Responds To Beyoncé’s Non-Disclosure Agreement Lyrics In ‘Top Off’
A few folks accused me of reaching when I said Beyoncé put Tiffany Haddish on notice in her verse on DJ Khaled‘s “Top Off,” but apparently that isn’t the case.
The actress and comedian knows she innocently spilled the Carter’s tea.
After Tiffany heard the song, she took to social media to let everyone know she loves Beyoncé’s verse and she’d gladly sign a NDA to party with the Queen Bey.

#DOGOODERS: Disney Donates $1 Million To Boys & Girls Club For STEM Programs!
Black Panther came out and set Black History Month on FIRE. And with all its success, Disney has decided to celebrate the incredible film in a MAJOR way.

The company imitates the ending of the film by donating $1 million to create STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Woot!

It's the perfect gift as it correlates with the technology theme in the film and how it empowered a group of people. Without giving TOO much of the movie away, Wakanda was the most technologically advanced country ran by a fictional metal called vibranium. Black Panther's sister Shuri, a 16-year-old female, was the one who invented and controlled much of the technology her brother used to fight evil. How cool is that?
Now, young students enrolled in STEM programs will be able to do the same.

“It’s fitting that we show our appreciation by helping advance STEM programs for youth, especially in underserved areas of the country, to give them the knowledge and tools to build the future they want,” Robert A. Iger, chief executive of the Walt Disney Company, said in a statement.

The money will create 12 new STEM centers in several cities across the country, including Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis, Washington and Oakland, Calif. -- where Black Panther director Ryan Coogler was born and where some of the film takes place.

"The organization’s STEM curriculum gives young people the chance at an early age to have hands-on experiences, like building bridges and light bulbs and creating rock candy," Chrissy Booth, senior director of youth development programs for the Boys & Girls Club.

This is great! #WAKANDAFOREVER

Philando Castile Charity Covers Entire School District’s Lunch Debt
Even in death He has done well!

(Via HuffPo) The cafeteria supervisor’s memory will live on in this charity by ensuring no student goes hungry.
Two years after he was fatally shot by a police officer in Minnesota, Philando Castile is still helping students afford lunch.

A charity created in Castile’s honor has paid off the lunch debt for every student in the 56 schools in the St. Paul Public School District, including the school where Castile worked as a cafeteria supervisor.
“That means no parent of the 37,000 kids who eat meals at school need worry about how to pay that overdue debt,” a charity organizer wrote on the “Philando Feeds the Children” fundraising page.

Castile had worked as a cafeteria supervisor at the J.J. Hill Montessori Magnet School in St. Paul for two years at the time he was killed.
Families said students at the school took his death especially hard.
In 2017, around the anniversary of Castile’s death, families of children at J.J. Hill told the Pioneer Press that Castile often high-fived students and helped them with their lunches.

“It’s one thing to say he was a good guy, and it’s another thing to know he was a good guy,” Eisen Ramgren, a student’s parent, told the St. Paul newspaper.
Pam Fergus, an educator who launched the charity, told CNN she delivered a $35,000 check to the St. Paul Public School District this week. The charity, which had an original goal of raising $5,000, now has more than $117,000 in donations, according to the YouCaring page. The funds will continue to pay for student lunches “for years to come,” Fergus wrote in a fundraising update.

Fergus told Fox 9 News that Castile was known at his school for paying for students’ lunches when they couldn’t afford it.
“Philando was famous for that,” she said. “His mother told me that every day he would call her after leaving his job at J.J. Hill and talk about the kids. Another kid didn’t have the money in his account, so Philando would take $3 out of his pocket and buy that kid’s lunch for the day.”
In July 2016, St. Anthony Police Officer Jeronimo Yanez shot and killed Castile after pulling him over for a broken taillight in a St. Paul suburb.
Yanez maintained that he thought Castile was reaching for the weapon, while Diamond Reynolds, Castile’s girlfriend who filmed the traffic stop from the passenger seat, said he was reaching for his wallet.
Footage of the incident from a police dash cam and Reynolds’ camera shows Castile calmly telling Yanez he had a firearm. After the shooting, Reynolds said Yanez had just asked Castile for his license and registration, adding that Castile was licensed to carry.

Castile’s death sparked nationwide protests against police violence after the shooting and again after Yanez was found not guilty of manslaughter.
Now that the charity has reached well over its fundraising goal, Fergus hopes it can continue to raise money for more schools in Minnesota.

“I don’t know how much it would take to help the whole state of Minnesota,” Fergus told CNN. “There is no end goal. Basically, I want a million bucks in there.”

The Daily Buzz For Feb 20 ☕📰☕

Chadwick Boseman Shares ‘Black Panther’ Rolling Stone Cover
Black Panther star and man of the hour, Chadwick Boseman, shared the cover for the latest edition of Rolling Stone on Twitter. The cover features a shirtless Boseman wearing only a very stylish coat, and his necklace from Black Panther that holds his nano-suit. The cover was accompanied by the fist emoji and a very appropriate “#blackpanther.” Check out the tweet pic above.

Boseman’s colleagues in the film industry have been quick to congratulate him on the phenomenal cover, including Ava DuVernay (the director who passed on directing Black Panther), and Hollywood funnyman Josh Gad. Others on Twitter can’t get over Boseman’s physical attractiveness, with many posting gifs of jaw drops, and people fanning themselves.
Boseman is deserving of being featured on the cover of Rolling Stone. Even if Black Panther hadn’t had one of the strongest opening weekends for a superhero movie ever, it is an important film that is just as deserving of being featured and discussed in this prestigious publication. The financial, critical, and audience success is really the icing on the cake for everyone involved.

Black Panther is directed by Ryan Coogler, and stars  Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Angela Bassett, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Florence Kasumba, Sterling K. Brown, Andy Serkis and John Kani.

Black Panther is currently in theaters.

#RHoA: NeNe Leakes, Kim Zolciak Biermann Erupted into Fight on 'RHOA'
Whatever was left of NeNe Leakes' and Kim Zolciak Biermann's friendship, was torn to shreds in Sunday's episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, as what fans coined "RoachGate" finally exploded on screen.
The drama all started when Zolciak Biermann bailed on the group's "girl's trip" to Spain, saying she was uncomfortable traveling without her husband due to her health issues in the past.

“Less than two years ago, I had a stroke coming from L.A. which is a four-hour flight,” the mother of six said last week, referencing the mini-stroke she had in September 2015, which required open-heart surgery after doctors discovered an existing genetic heart condition. “Going to Barcelona, which is a 10-hour flight, does make me nervous. I know that my husband would make sure I’m okay. He knows why signs to look for. … It makes me very uneasy [to go without him].”

On the way to the airport though, Leakes mocked the Don't Be Tardy star's alleged clinginess to her husband Kroy Biermann.
“Kim could not join us cause she wanted to come with her husband. This is a girl’s trip,” she said. “The fact that Kim and Kroy have this co-dependency on each other, she can’t do anything unless he’s standing there. What the f—? Like, go do something. Go tackle somebody out on the football field.”

Leakes then implied that Zolciak Biermann's health problems might not be as serious as she lets on.
“Kim is the only person who has had cancer, thyroids, blood clots, open-heart surgery, a stroke, and is still running around here being negative,” Leakes said. “If you’ve had that much, you should be so positive and thankful that God has let you live through every disease in America. Cancer, stroke, thyroid, open-heart surgery, and still living? I can’t get over it. God is good, honey. She’s had it all!”

“The bionic Barbie,” Leakes added. “She’s had every illness in the world!”
These remarks soon found their way back to Zolciak Biermann via Sheree Whitfield.
“Of course I’m going to talk to Kim and tell her what everybody’s saying,” Whitfield joked to the audience. “A bone carrier is never off her job.”

The new knowledge set Zolciak Biermann off.
“Is this b— for real?” she said over the phone. “So you think I lie about having a stroke? I lie about having open-heart surgery? I lie that I take thyroid medicine, b—? She’s f—ing scum and I won’t even acknowledge it. She’s f—ing trash. Period.”
“I’m not a cancer survivor,” Zolciak Biermann also said. “I don’t know who the f— told you that. And nobody f—ing said that.”

The "Tardy to the Party" singer then went in on Leakes, calling her out for parking her car in a handicapped spot and the “roaches” in her house — something her daughter Brielle Biermann had Snapchatted her about during a visit to the house earlier this season.

She doubled down in a text message to the whole group in Barcelona.
“NeNe is sick and disgusting,” she wrote in the text, which accompanied a video of the “roaches” and a photo of Leakes’ car parked in the handicapped spot. “And I’m not just speaking on the fact that she made fun of a SERIOUS health issue I had… But I am also speaking on the fact that she lives in a f—ing roach nest. For someone who has two beautiful kids and an amazing husband, she should be worried about karma. But this is coming from the same person who takes handicapped spots from the handicapped.”

This text set off Leakes.
“F— Kim, okay?” she shouted. “Can’t none of y’all b—s can step in my house and say a m———ing thing because all my s— is brand new with real tags on the b—, okay? … To say that I live in a roach-infested house? Her and her daughter are disgusting.”

As for the handicapped spot, Leakes told the group the pass was her husband Gregg's, who was hospitalized recently for heart problems.
“This shows you how much a f—ing liar this girl is,” Leakes continued. “She’s a trashy, no-good b—. She’s always been trash and she’s going to always be trash. That was so calculated and disgusting. … She’s a disgusting, bald-headed b—.”

Asked if Leakes believed Zolciak Biermann’s health problems are real, Leakes said no. “I believe she’s an excuse person and I stand by that,” she said.
Fans of the show know what happened next in real life, as it turned into a social media scandal they coined "RoachGate" in October, when Leakes tweeted about Zolciak Biermann’s text and Brielle’s video, calling the mother-daughter duo “racists.”

“Kim & her daughter oops whole family are racists! What her daughter did at my home, (which she nor kim were invited to so be clear abt that as well) was pure disgusting, racist, learned behavior etc,” Leakes wrote on social media, adding, “children are NOT off limits when you allow your child to talk to adults any kind of way, post disrespectful things on social media and so on. Kim is a calculating bio polar racist with a horrible mouth, who uses black folks for her come up.”
Soon after the initial post, Zolciak Biermann hired legal counsel, telling E!’s Daily Pop, “I don’t take this lightly. It’s one thing like I said to kind of banter back and forth and have an opinion. This is far beyond just having an opinion.”

Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.

Fresh off his new EP The Play Don’t Care Who Makes It, 2 Chainz has announced his fifth solo studio album, Rap or Go to the League.
Following last year’s Pretty Girls Like Trap Music, the project aims to tackle some serious and topical issues, according to the host of Viceland’s “Most Expensivest” series.

Pregnant Jordin Sparks Receives Belly Kiss at her Baby Shower
Jordin Sparks celebrated her baby shower surrounded by family and friends in her native Arizona. “Little Bug can’t wait to meet her cousin,” wrote the 28-year-old American Idol alum in a Sunday, February 17, Instagram post.

In the sweet snap, Sparks’ niece plants a kiss on her bump.
“We had a low key baby shower for Little Man in AZ . . . It was beautiful,” the mom-to-be gushed of the get-together. “I am so grateful for the support system. I’ve had growing up and the roots that took hold to support us now. The journey is incredible. God is good.”
Sparks, who won season 6 of the Fox singing competition, will welcome her first child, a baby boy, this spring. “Late or early May,” she told Us Weekly earlier this month at Lay’s Smiles Experience in New York City. “I haven’t been telling people dates because he’s going to show up when he wants!”
Though the singer admitted she’s feeling “really good,” her husband, Dana Isaiah, has been extra nurturing. “If my back hurts, he says, ‘Can I rub it for you?” she gushed. “He surprises me with things like flowers. He got me this pregnancy tea that I drink all the time now.”
Sparks also praised the model’s amazing sense of humor. “If I’m overwhelmed, he just breaks through with something funny,” she told Us. “I’m like, ‘This is why I love you!”

Sparks shocked her fans when she revealed in November that she secretly wed Isaiah in mid-July and that they were also growing their little family.

Prior to marrying Isaiah, Sparks dated Sage the Gemini and Jason Derulo.

#JUSTICE: Jury Awards $37M To Korryn Gaines’ Family In Civil Case Against Baltimore County
The family of Korryn Gaines was awarded $37 million in their civil suit against Baltimore County for her police-involved shooting death in 2016.
The 23-year-old mother of two, was shot and killed by county police after a six-hour standoff.
According to Baltimore police, Officer First Class Ruby shot at Gaines because she threatened to kill him and pointed her gun at him.

However, the family’s lawsuit claims Ruby shot Korryn “out of his own personal frustration rather than any true fear of a threat to him or others.”
It took the jury of six women less than three hours to determine the first shot fired by Cpl. Royce Ruby at Gaines, killing her and injuring her then-5-year-old son, Kodi, was not reasonable and therefore violated their civil rights under state and federal statutes.

Korryn’s father was awarded $300,000, her mother was awarded $307,000 and her estate was awarded $300,000.
Her son, Kodi, who suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and had bullet fragments in his face, received $32 million in damages and his sister, Karsyn, was awarded $4.5 million.
The family received no punitive damages.

See the news report HERE The family’s attorney, J. Wyndal Gordon, is happy with the verdict, but he also expressed his disgust that no criminal charges were filed against Officer Ruby.

#BAFTAS: The BAFTA Awards: ‘Three Billboards’ Wins Best Film, Tops Night With Five Nods – The Complete Winners List!
The annual EE British Academy Film Awards were a Searchlight affair, with Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water taking three awards including Best Director for del Toro. The strong showing makes both films strong candidates for the top prizes at the Oscars just two Sundays from now. Only they and Focus Features’ Darkest Hour (2) had more than one win.

Also cementing frontrunner status in the Actor and Actress races: Darkest Hour‘s Gary Oldman and Three Billboards‘ Frances McDormand, who have been leading the way all awards season. Both of those pics had nine noms each heading into the night, but it was Three Billboards that pulled away with wins for Sam Rockwell in Supporting, Martin McDonagh for Original Screenplay, and for Outstanding British Film.

Allison Janney (I, Tonya) won the Supporting Actress prize, and Get Out‘s Daniel Kaluuya won the Rising Star Award. James Ivory won the Adapted Screenplay prize for Call Me By Your Name.

It was particularly heavy year for British film, with Three Billboards co-financed by the UK’s Film4 and Darkest Hour and Paddington 2 scoring noms. Dunkirk, an Oscar Best Picture nominee, did not qualify in the Outstanding British Film category though it was directed by Christopher Nolan featured a largely Brit cast. It won once tonight, for Sound.
