Ebony Magazine Reminds Us “Yes, We Still Can” In February 2017 Issue
In a time where many feel hopeless, EBONY Magazine reminds us that even in the midst of misfortune, “Yes, We Still Can.” The February 2017 issue features cover art by artist Kadir Nelson and 10 of Black America’s leading thinkers and their thoughts on how to “keep hope and progress alive the next four years.” Although the past eight years with President Barack Obama gave us a sense of bliss, we must continue “to fight back against the economic and institutional violence that is as powerful as any bullet,” said Kirsten West Savali of The Root.
Author Isabel Wilkerson, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Princeton professor Imani Perry and more chime in on building the Black community and how revolutionary Black love in addition to learning from our past will be our savior. #RHoA: Oh? Kenya Moore makes accusation that Shereé Whitfield was abused?
During the Sunday, Jan. 23, 2017, episode of the “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” Kenya Moore was adamant that her co-star Shereé Whitfield had been in abusive relationships.
It all started because Whitfield pointed out a fallacy of Moore’s. “You provoke people. Just look at you and Matt – he’s breaking windows. Obviously, you provoke a lot of people,” Whitfield told her.
That didn’t rest well with Moore, who countered with, “Now don’t do that. You provoke people too … You have former boyfriends who have jumped on you, too. I haven’t been jumped on since I was 16 years old … I’ve been around Matt who flies off the handle. But the difference is he has never physically harmed me — which is more than what I can say about Porsha Ali.”
During her confessional, Moore expounds, “I know for a fact Shereé has been in an abusive relationship before. Someone that has had a man putting their hands on them should not be saying to another woman that she is the cause of a man being violent to them.”
Whitfield is not entertained. In fact, she said, “Now whether it’s true or not, you’re trying to make light of domestic violence. And I didn’t appreciate her bringing me into it.”
Whitfield recently penned Wives, Fiancées, and Side-Chicks of Hotlanta; maybe this book will shed some light on the source of Moore’s accusation.

The Steve Harvey Show welcomed one of the hottest up and coming entertainers who can be seen on FOX’s hit show “Empire,” BRYSHERE GRAY, better known as the real life rapper YAZZ THE GREATEST! Bryshere has added another impressive credit to his growing resume, starring as Michael Bivins in BET’s mini series “The New Edition Story,” airing January 24 – 26. Chrisette Michele Releases Poetic Response To Inauguration Performance Backlash “No Political Genius”
Chrisette Michele became the talk of the town last week, when it was revealed that she would be performing during one of the inauguration parties for President Donald Trump. The songstress did in fact perform a Gospel set, and it was reported that the she was paid $250,000 for the performance.
Many fans and those in the music community were shocked to find out that Chrisette would be performing and lashed out at her on social media. Since performing, the Long Island native has made only a brief statement, but her manager lashed out at some in the industry that shaded her, including director Spike Lee, who vowed to no longer use a song of hers that he was planning to place in the upcoming Netflix series She’s Gotta Have It inspired by his 1986 film.
Chrisette Michele has released a response to the situation with a recorded poem! Titled “No Political Genius,” the singer looks to create conversation, and invites listeners to stop bickering and start listening to each others point of view.
“I am the black song that Spike Lee won’t sing / I am the black voice inauguration bells ring / I am the black sheep disguising the scared wolf / No I am the black elephant in the red room, scared shook / White House invites me, you can call me their coon / I am the butterfly growing from slavery’s cocoon / I carry the mantle with God as my goon / He provides the life support, I’m dying singing his tune,” she cites on the opening verse.

Hip Hop News: Jay Z’s Tidal Sells 33 Percent Stake To Sprint
Jay Z once again proves he’s a business, man. Following rumors regarding various deals, Shawn Carter’s TIDAL has officially announced a new partnership with Sprint, bringing exclusive content to the phone company’s 45 million customers.
Through this deal, Sprint acquired 33 percent of TIDAL, leaving the rest to Jay Z and artist-owners like Beyoncé, Kanye West, Alicia Keys, and Nicki Minaj. The deal cost Sprint $200 million, according to Billboard.
Sprint’s CEO, Marcelo Claure, will also join TIDAL’s Board of Directors as part of this move, which Hov is happy about.
“Sprint shares our view of revolutionizing the creative industry to allow artists to connect directly with their fans and reach their fullest, shared potential,” Jay Z said in a statement. “Marcelo understood our goal right away and together we are excited to bring Sprint’s 45 million customers an unmatched entertainment experience.”
Claure was also excited about the move, complimenting S. Carter on his ability to innovate. “Jay saw not only a business need, but a cultural one, and put his heart and grit into building TIDAL into a world-class music streaming platform that is unrivaled in quality and content,” he said. “The passion and dedication that these artist-owners bring to fans will enable Sprint to offer new and existing customers access to exclusive content and entertainment experiences in a way no other service can.”
Jay Z purchased TIDAL from Aspiro AB for $56 million in 2015. Since then, the company has soared and struggled. While artist exclusives like Beyoncé’s LEMONADE and Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo have given the platform a competitive edge over rivals Apple Music and Spotify, it has also faced some challenges.
Shortly after buying TIDAL, Jay countered criticism by revealing the company’s mission. “We are here for the long haul,” he wrote. “Please give us a chance to grow & get better.”

The 21-year-old supermodel took time away from walking the runways at Paris Fashion Week to do some flea marketing shopping with the rapper.
She looked casual, wearing a cropped black chunky sweater and ripped light jeans — the top of her fishnet stocks showing over the low-cut pants. To stay warm in the chilly temperature, the brunette beauty draped a brown fur coat over her shoulders.
For accessories? A black fanny pack, dark shades and a pair of black strappy shoes.
Rocky, 28, made a statement in colorful red pants, a red plaid shirt, and a long black trench. He polished off the look with some black leather Gucci shoes.
This isn’t the first time the two have hit the Parisian streets together. They were spotted in the City of Lights in June — heading to one of Jenner’s favorite restaurants, L’Avenue.
The friends ended 2016 with hangouts on both the east and west coast — prompting many to question if Jenner and Rocky are an item.
They were spotted in Malibu on Dec. 11, grabbing a bite to eat at the famed Japanese restaurant and celebrity hotspot Nobu.
The weekend prior, Jenner spent quite a bit of quality time with Rocky in Miami for the annual Art Basel festivities — spending the night “side by side” while clubbing until the wee hours of the morning and acting “very flirty,” according to a source.
In October, the pair met up at a Los Angeles hotel.

Rickey’s Smiley son Craig made some ignorant comment about a beautiful black women on reality TV show. In episode 9 season 3 of their reality show, Malik tried setting Craig up with a Black woman because “all he’s dated was white and Mexicans.”
Things got a bit awkward when Malik pulled his cousin aside to explain why he’s not into his blind date — a Black woman.
“Her face,” he said. “Black females are not attractive to me. I look at them like my sisters… I went to an all-white school. Sometimes people have different tastes, and I don’t have a taste for her.”

'American Horror Story' Crossover Season: Ryan Murphy Reveals New Details!
Ryan Murphy has previously teased American Horror Story fans by revealing that there will be an upcoming crossover season for the anthology series and now he is giving more details!
Each season of the series follows a completely new story and cast members take on new characters each time. In the crossover season, characters from multiple seasons will have storylines that intertwine.
American Horror Story was recently renewed for two more seasons, on top of the upcoming seventh season. The series will air through at least 2019!
“It’s a character from season 1 that will be thrust into the world that you are left with at the end of Coven, which is sort of like the male/female/witch academy,” Ryan told EW about the crossover season. “And then all of those characters will intertwine, which is confusing because some of them are from seasons 1 and 3. Like, Sarah Paulson will probably be playing 18 characters.”
Ryan previously teased the crossover season at EW PopFest last year.
“It’s not going to be next season, but we are going to do a season that’s a crossover between Murder House and Coven together, which is very bizarre,” he said.
