Elliot Morales Sentenced To 40 Years To Life For Hate Crime Murder Of Mark Carson!

FINALLY Mark can rest in PEACE! Justice has come! Days after a gunman killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in Florida, the judge in a hate-crime murder case in New York invoked the massacre as he sentenced a man to 40 years to life in prison on Tuesday.

Elliot Morales, was convicted in March of murder as a hate crime for killing Mark Carson, 32, a gay black man, in the West Village in Manhattan three years ago, after spewing homophobic invectives at Mr. Carson and his companion.
“I can’t help but perceive or observe the parallel tragedy in Orlando,” the judge, A. Kirke Bartley Jr., said as he imposed the sentence in State Supreme Court in Manhattan. “That parallel is revealed in hatred, self-loathing, fear and death.

"We lost our brother today," Slice's longtime manager, Mike Imber, said in a text message to The Associated Press.
Slice, birth name Kevin Ferguson, was a former backyard brawler and Internet sensation. A heavyweight at 6-foot-2, 225 pounds, he had a 5-2 professional record with four TKOs.

Slice is survived by six children, and he credited his MMA career for allowing him to send them to college. One of his three sons, Kevin Ferguson Jr., made his MMA debut in March.

Mr. Morales, 36, was convicted after a two-week trial during which he represented himself, assuming the dual roles of defendant and defense lawyer. Addressing Mr. Morales, Justice Bartley said that the defendant’s ability to appear in the courtroom “calm, intelligent, well-prepared, well-behaved” could not deter from the fact that he was “something worthy of a character in a Stephen King novel, in short, a monster". Morales had told the court that his crime should not be considered a 'HATE CRIME' in light of his sexual indiscrections will Transgendered Women.

Lawyer For Killer Of Mark Carson To Present Insanity Defense

The lawyer for Elliot Morales, the man who murdered Mark Carson on a West Village street corner in May, said yesterday that he intends to present an insanity defense.

According to HuffPost Gay Voices: Court-appointed defense lawyer Kevin Canfield served notice that he intends to present psychiatric evidence at trial. "It could be temporary insanity," Canfield told reporters, declining to describe Morales' reported mental state at the time of the alleged crime. It was not immediately known whether Morales had any known mental health problems prior to the killing. Morales, 33, did not speak during the brief court appearance but appeared somber, sporting a shaved head, gray shirt and tie and wire-rimmed glasses. 

He was indicted in May on charges of murder as a hate crime, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. Morales is due back in court Sept. 13 and is being held on Rikers Island without bail.

At the time of his arrest, police and prosecutors say that Morales repeatedly boasted about the murder.
