'This Is Us' cast goes to dramatic lengths to avoid plot leaks
With the enormous success of the first season of "This Is Us" came plenty of extra drama behind the scenes. That's because producers of the NBC feel-good hit have gone to such lengths to guard against plot leaks that the cast and crew don't feel very good speaking to reporters on the off chance something slips out. Every single person who steps onto the set has to sign a nondisclosure agreement and scenes are shot out of order to fool paparazzi or would-be leakers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"It wasn't like this last year," star Mandy Moore told the industry trade for its Sept. 13 cover story. "It's like suddenly we're on 'Lost.'"
There is one particular plot twist, which if it got out, would leave creator Dan Fogelman's nerves twisting: how Milo Ventimiglia's patriarch Jack died, an event referenced but never explained in the first season. To keep that revelation secret, script pages have been redacted and code names used during filming, THR reported.
The stakes are high because there are plenty of people interested in what will unfold when "This Is Us" begins its second season on Sept. 26. Weekly viewership regularly topped 15 million in the show's debut season, with NBC renewing the show for a third season before the sophomore one even started. The drama about the Pearson family, which follows Ventimiglia's Jack and Moore's Rebecca as young parents and their adult children in the present, has clearly resonated with audiences.
And part of that success comes with the perfect casting the includes Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz and Justin Hartley — and Ventimiglia's rear end.
The "Gilmore Girls" alum helped draw early attention to the show when a tearjerker of a first trailer, set to Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up," debuted on May 2016. That it included a much-hyped shot of the actor's backside probably helped the trailer hit 15 million views on Facebook in just its first two days.

That cheeky shot was supposed to be played for laughs, Fogelman told The Hollywood Reporter, because he originally intended to cast an actor with more of a dad bod for the role. "In the way a shot of my butt would be funny," said the writer/producer. "I didn't imagine that that was going to be a thing that would blow up the internet. I joke about it a lot, but really, my initial conception of that character was that different."
But after the casting department brought Ventimiglia in to read, Fogelman's original plans didn't stick to the script.

#EMPIRE: Is Taraji P. Henson May leave the show?
Empire is about to come back for its fourth season on September 27, but FOX is reportedly in negotiations to lock down the cast for future seasons.
Well, one cast member is reportedly not budging and it happens to be the queen of Empire.
According to confidential sources, Taraji's contract ends this year, and FOX wants to sign her on for multiple seasons, but she's hesitant. "Taraji is the franchise, and she’s milking it big time," The source says. "One minute she’s telling them she wants it go to continue for the foreseeable future, the next she’s changed her mind and talking about the next step of her career elsewhere, or needing a break for her personal life."
The Golden Globe winner certainly makes the show worth watching, but Taraji has always said she would leave Empire after season four. Why? Because after four seasons is when the show goes into syndication, which means reruns. This is where the real money comes in, from royalties. Well that makes sense though.
Well, if Taraji needs to move on, we are here for it. However, we will believe all of these "sources" when it comes directly from Taraji.

SADNESS: Kenneka Jenkins’ Mother Holds Press Conference
After Rosemont Police released a few snippets of surveillance video of Kenneka Jenkins in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, her mother Teresa Martin, and her attorney, Larry Rogers Jr., held a press conference.
Rogers noted as of Friday, the family still has not received the surveillance video of Kenneka in its entirety.
They’ve received several snippets, like the ones I posted earlier today, but none of them show Kenneka Jenkins walking into a freezer.
The snippets show a young lady who is disoriented and a lady who is clearly in need of some attention.
She’s trying to find her way and no one from Crowne Plaza Hotel responds to her. No one from Crowne Plaza Hotel is seeking to provide assistance to her.
And for over a day…approximately a day and a half apparently she was somehow down in this freezer and they have no way – they haven’t until this day explained how someone got into an area that clearly or apparently was not being utilized.
And a freezer that was on that was apparently not being used.

It was another successful year for Rihanna’s star studded diamond ball.
On Thursday night, celebrities put on their finest garments and attended the pop star’s annual Clara Lionel Foundation’s Diamond Ball in New York City’s Cipriani Wall Street.
Rihanna, the lady of the night, stunned in a gorgeous sweetheart necklace gown, paired with gorgeous Chopard diamonds perfectly placed around her neck.
The soiree also just so happened to be Beyonce’s first red carpet appearance since welcoming twins Rumi and Sir back in June. The flawless singer (pun intended) showed off her post baby bod in a stunning silk green dress.
Her husband, Jay Z, was also in tow and was dapper in a classic black and white tuxedo.
Beyonce, who took a night off from changing diapers and putting kids to bed, also took a quick moment to post alongside RiRi.
Cardi B. and Lala Anthony also attended the coveted event. The “Bodak Yellow” rapper sported a long, soft long baby blue gown while Lala Anthony showed off her curves in a sequined Yousef Aljasmi dress.
The organization, which was founded in 2012, is honor of Badgalriri’s grandparents, Clara and Lionel Brathwaite.
The foundation is to help pour back in to underprivileged communities around the world.

Jamie Lee Curtis Returning For New ‘Halloween’
Jamie Lee Curtis is getting back in her Halloween costume. The actress and Universal said today that she will return to play her iconic role of Laurie Strode in the new installment of the horror franchise that will hit theaters in October 2018.
Curtis tweeted the news today, complete with the first look at the character she first played in the 1978 original, and reprised in some fashion in five subsequent sequels and reboots:
Universal said in February that David Gordon Green and Danny McBride had crafted a new take on the franchise that introduced masked killer Michael Myers. Green is directing, and horror master John Carpenter, who co-wrote and directed the original, is executive producing with Green and McBride via their Rough House Pictures.
Malek Akkad, whose Trancas International Films has produced the series since its inception, is producing with Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and Miramax. Universal is distributing worldwide.
