The Daily Buzz For July 19 ☕📰☕

Jenna Dewan Opens Up About Life After Split From Channing Tatum
Jenna Dewan has graced the cover of ELLE Australia’s Green Issue as part of a feature about veganism, feminism, and life after announcing her split from husband of eight years, Channing Tatum.
Dewan and Tatum publicly announced their separation via a joint statement in April, earlier this year. Together they wrote “There are no secrets nor salacious events at the root of our decision – just two best-friends realising it’s time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible.”

The actor, producer, TV host, and dancer has since been concentrating on their five-year-old daughter Everly and her production company Everheart – a business she founded to focus on women and empowerment in the industry.
Dewan revealed she had encountered sexism early on in her career when a choreographer she was an assistant to made inappropriate advances and when she rejected him, Dewan lost her job. She had been 16.
In the feature, due for release on Monday, Dewan also shared how she’s still trying to “figure out” how to co-parent with Tatum:
“Our main thing is keeping Everly as our top priority, so she is happy, she’s taken care of, she’s loved – we love her more than anything. I don’t think much has shifted in that sense.”

Moving on has undoubtedly been a process but Dewan said things now feel “freer, it’s lighter – I had to get comfortable living in the space of the unknown.”
“Being a dancer, I’ve been trained to know if I do one plus two it equals three. I like to know what’s ahead of me, so I had to be OK with not knowing, but trusting that it’s all for my highest good, and the highest good of everyone involved.”
Dewan’s appearance in ELLE Australia coincides with the magazine’s #ELLETimeToAct campaign encouraging their audience to share and embrace everyday changes that can contribute to kinder and more sustainable life.
37-year-old Dewan has been a vegan since she was just 10-years-old after watching footage from a slaughterhouse. Veganism has always worked for Dewan and is a lifestyle and diet that has given her more energy.

She looks GORGEOUS.

#RHoA: Did you hear about the #Justice4Kenya Campaign to Help Get Her Back on RHOA
Kenya Moore fans are not pleased about news “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” star has been fired from the show and they’re ready to fight to have her spot secured.

That information came after a production source said they, “look forward to welcoming new housewives and telling new authentic stories for season 11.”
In response to those claims, Moore fired off on Instagram and said, it’s all “fake news.”
“Do you really think Bravo would talk to a trashy blog like ‘radar online?’ When have you ever seen Bravo release cast info before the season starts on any cast member being fired or HIRED? 🤔 N-E-V-E-R
“To the outlets that regurgitate their fake desperate stories: shame on you lazy MFs!
Unless you hear it from me, it’s fake news! Reviewing my latest offer now 💅🏾 #teamtwirl #kenyamoore #rhoa.”

And despite an RHOA fan page saying Bravo hasn’t made any final decisions about casting, rumors continue to mount that Moore won’t be back on the show, with Page Six reporting she declined a part-time gig. And fans are building a campaign to get the pregnant star her peach back.
“I feel the need to start a #Justice4Kenya campaign. Am I wasting my time? #RHOA,” a Bravo Housewives fan Twitter account posted July 12.
But according to several responses, the page isn’t wasting their time after all.
“Definitely think she should [have] stayed! she was the only one driving drama from seasons 5-8 …I and I think she found herself in the last 2 seasons! Hoping season 11 flops, and the queen returns and smashes season 12.”

“As much as people don’t want to give credit to her, Kenya gave this show a life, the most hated villain who kept these ladies on their toes!!!”

#Empire: Serayah ‘s character Tiana Ready For Motherhood Ready for Motherhood?
Serayah, who plays Tiana from the beloved FOX show, sat down with Hollywood Life for a interview and she had a lot to say about the upcoming season. For those of you who need a refresher, season four ended on a pretty terrifying note. For starters, Tiana revealed she’s pregnant to Hakeem (played by Bryshere Y. Gray), but before he could really digest the news, they got shot at by Blake’s father (another rapper from the show). So, what’s next?
Well, it’s safe to say Tiana survived, but is she ready to be a mom? “I think more than ever she could be now, ’cause I feel like there’s been a slight change in her. She’s always been super grounded, but now I feel like she’s been there for Bella [Hakeem’s baby], and she’s been in that role for a little while. So, I think she would be okay,” Serayah explained on the HollywoodLife Podcast. It’s also going to be interesting to see how Hakeem takes to parenting again and their relationship in general. “I feel like, they just have this type of relationship where it’s like she kinds of accepts all of his stupidity and stuff like that,” Serayah said in reference to Hakeem, who shares daughter Bella with Anika Calhoun.

“And she’s okay with it. She just wants him to probably be like there, which I think that’s why she’s scared to tell him. She didn’t know what to expect. And for her career, too. So, I think she just wanted someone to support her. And then when he reacted in that way, she’s like, ‘Okay, cool.’ They’ll figure it out from there,” Serayah continued. Well, we’re certainly looking forward to the premiere! (h/t hollywood life)

Destiny's Child Michelle Williams Checks Into Mental Health Facility
Michelle Williams has checked herself into a mental health facility to address her struggles with depression, according to TMZ.
The Destiny’s Child singer — who reunited with Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland at 2018’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival back in April — revealed the news in an Instagram post shared on Tuesday (July 17).

“For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it’s time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing,” she wrote. “I recently listened to the same advice I have given to thousands around the world and sought help from a great team of healthcare professionals.
“Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need. If you change your mind, you can change your life.”
Williams has opened up about her mental health issues in the past. During a 2017 episode of The Talk, she spoke about her depression and admitted she didn’t know a name for what she was experiencing until she was in her 30s.

She also divulged that even at the height of Destiny’s Child’s success, she was periodically suicidal.

“It got really really bad … to the point of I was suicidal,” Williams said. “I was to that place where it got so dark and heavy because sometimes you feel like, ‘I’m the provider, I take responsibility.

The 2018 ESPY Awards left few dry eyes in the audience and in the households of viewers once it was finished.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney Evicted The Made in America Festival and Jay Z isn’t having it.
Jay Z strikes back in a Op-Ed piece!

Made in America is on the move, and the festival could be gone from the city for good.

Since 2012, the ticketed Labor Day weekend gathering has taken place on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, with Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kanye West, Pearl Jam, and Jay-Z among the big-name attractions.
This year, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, Post Malone, and Diplo will be among the hip-hop headliners to perform in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps on Sept. 1 and 2.

They will also likely be the last. On Tuesday, Mayor Kenney’s office said Made in America will be held on the Parkway for the last time this year. That story was first reported by the news site Billy Penn.
“This is the last year MIA will be held on the Parkway,” Sarah Reyes, deputy communications director for the mayor’s office, said in a statement to the Inquirer and Daily News on Tuesday.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that the festival, which has attracted as many as 50,000 people on each of its two days to the area around Eakins Oval, will not be in Philadelphia in 2019 and later.

Jay-Z’s entertainment company, Roc Nation, which presents the festival along with promoter Live Nation, has no plans to leave Philadelphia, where the event has generated $100 million in direct spending since 2012, according to Omar Al-Joulani, senior vice president of touring for Live Nation. (The Inquirer and Daily News asked the city if it had an economic impact report, and the city did not respond Tuesday.)

Over the years, the festival has drawn criticism and noise complaints from neighbors along the Parkway, while also transforming the cityscape into an open-air venue. And unlike fests in remote locales, Made in America, which will present scores of bands for a two-day pass of $175, is uniquely accessible, in the heart of a major city.
“When the festival first started, it was intended to provide a unique attraction to the city on the otherwise quiet Labor Day weekend,” Reyes said in a statement. “Over the years, tourism has grown overall, and the need for an event of this scale at this location may no longer be necessary.”
The city’s statement did not rule out moving the festival to another site in Philadelphia. “It’s unclear how MIA will want to proceed in the future, but the city is interested in discussing alternate locations within Philadelphia for future years,” it said. “We are interested in discussing the festival’s future with the producers and look forward to continuing a partnership.”
The news was a surprise to Live Nation and Roc Nation, Al-Joulani said.

“I woke up to read an article on Billy Penn that we’re not welcome back to the Parkway after 2018,” he said from Los Angeles. “I was surprised and disappointed after our very successful run. I had no indication, my partners and Roc Nation had no indication, no request for a face-to-face meeting. I had no idea. I was literally on my way to the office, and I had to pull over and read the story. I was shocked. They broke up with us in the press.”

From the beginning, Made in America has made the streets of Philadelphia a key part of its identity. Jay-Z announced the festival launch in 2012 on the steps of the Art Museum with the American flag hanging behind him. The New Yorker said the decision to locate the festival here was in part because of the egalitarian symbolism of having it in “such an iconic city,” with a musical history “second only to Motown.”
“By saying that they’re not going to accept us back on the Parkway, they are saying that Made in America as we know it is over,” Al-Joulani said.

The Live Nation exec said he was “still in the surprise phase” and hadn’t yet considered what alternate Philadelphia sites could be considered.

Despite being taken aback by the city’s announcement, Al-Joulani said he believes that renewed discussions could leave to MIA returning to the site that has always been its home. “I’m absolutely hopeful,” he said, “that we can figure out a way to open up a dialogue with the city so we can be back on the Parkway in 2019.”

Until this year, MIA was known as Budweiser Made in America. The beer giant owned by Belgium-based Anheuser Busch InBev branded its red, white, and blue colors with the festival name and made sure that Bud was the only beer that could be purchased within the fest’s gated grounds
Budweiser dropped Made in America this year, however. Last month, a Bud executive told Advertising Age that the beer company, which spent more than $1.5 billion on music marketing last year, was focusing its music tie-in efforts more on country music, where presumably more of its drinkers are, than the hip-hop and R&B fans that MIA attracts.

This year’s fest plans to offer more variety in food and drink options, and has a number of new corporate sponsors, including Puma, Abercrombie & Fitch, and American Airlines.

SAY WHAT? Faith Evans & Stevie J Reportedly Wed In Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV – Faith Evans and Stevie J are reportedly married. According to TMZ, the couple tied the knot in their Las Vegas hotel room on Tuesday night (July 17).
Legal documents reportedly show Evans and the No Way Out producer filed for a marriage license in Clark County earlier that day.

The pair broke up last year but evidently mended their relationship. The two flaunted their love for one another on Twitter on their wedding day.
This marks the third marriage for Evans, who was previously married to The Notorious B.I.G. and record executive Todd Russaw. She and Russaw divorced in 2011.
On the music front, Evans released her duet album with the late Biggie, The King & I, last May. Most recently, Evans and her new reality TV star husband released a clip for her upcoming video, “A Minute.”

Uh Oh? Kim Kardashian Sued for Allegedly Stealing Logo for New Fragrance
Kim Kardashian‘s beauty company is being sued for allegedly stealing the logo of a marketing company for the bottle of her fragrance … which was just released this week.

According to court documents Vibes Media claims KKW swiped their logo, which they claim was trademarked in 2012.
Vibes alleges that KKW “has been marketing, promoting, and is now selling a Vibes perfume. The Vibes perfume comes in a bottle that is a close facsimile of the Registered Vibes Logo.”

Judge for yourself below.
They also claim KKW has been using their logo on social media to promote their product. Kim even tweeted a photo of the bottle yesterday – which is hard to spot because it’s hard to tear your eyes away from her body.
Vibes Media is seeking unspecified damages, an injunction to keep them from continuing to sell it, and an order for them to turn over all unsold perfumes so they can be destroyed.

So far, no word back from The Kardashian Camp!

#NBA San Antonio’s Kawhi Leonard Traded to Raptors for DeMar DeRozan
The Toronto Raptors took the biggest gamble in franchise history by completing a trade with the San Antonio Spurs for the superstar forward Kawhi Leonard.

The Raptors and Spurs’ trade lands Leonard in Canada and sends the All-Star guard DeMar DeRozan to San Antonio as his primary replacement. The Spurs will also get center Jakob Poeltl, while the Raptors will get guard Danny Green.

Leonard was limited to nine games last season by a quadriceps injury and can leave the Raptors in free agency next summer. Toronto posted a franchise-record 59 wins last season, but fired Coach Dwane Casey — who was later named the N.B.A.’s coach of the year in separate balloting by both news media members and his peers — after a humbling second-round sweep inflicted by the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers.

Leaguewide buzz around the Raptors jumping into the Leonard trade sweepstakes had been building for the past week.

The deal sets up a potentially awkward reunion for Leonard and Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich next week in Las Vegas at a U.S.A. Basketball minicamp, which is scheduled to be Popovich’s formal debut as the successor to Duke University’s Mike Krzyzewski as head coach of Team U.S.A. Leonard is among a group of 35 top players who have been invited to the camp.

Teams interested in trading for Leonard had been consistently told for weeks that the player has no interest in signing anywhere but Los Angeles — either with the Lakers or the Clippers — when he becomes a free agent in July 2019. Trading for Leonard anyway is thus a huge dice roll for Toronto’s team president, Masai Ujiri, one reminiscent of Oklahoma City’s trade with Indiana in July 2017 to bring the All-Star forward Paul George to the Thunder.

#HUH? "Papa John" Balked At Working With Kanye West Because "He Uses The N-Word In His Lyrics"
John Schnatter, the embattled titular “Papa John” in the Papa John’s brand of pizza, is fighting his removal as chairman, and bringing Kanye West’s name in the mix.
According to MSN, Schnatter — who recently resigned as the company’s chairman of the board of directors — is now claiming that he was forced to step down because of a mischaracterization of his initial statements.

Schnatter also said that he was told by Laundry Service — the marketing company hired to help role-play public relations problems like the NFL brouhaha that forced him to step down as the company’s CEO last year — to work with Kanye. The agency suggested bringing Kanye on as a spokesman for the pizza chain, and Schnatter refused on the grounds that West “uses the N-word” in his songs.

Later on in the call, he used the word himself.

“I then said something on the order of, Colonel Sanders used the word ‘N,’ (I actually used the word,) that I would never use that word and Papa John’s doesn’t use that word,” he later admitted, but claims he never meant to use the N-word in full as a racial epithet.

Netflix Terminates Contract With The Weinstein Co.
Netflix won a U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s approval to terminate its output deal with The Weinstein Company, a settlement that means the streaming service won’t be obligated to stream a third season of MTV’s Scream.
The agreement, filed today (read it here), comes as Lantern Entertainment continues to work through various objections stemming from The Weinstein Co.’s bankruptcy, in hopes of establishing productive relationships in Hollywood.
According to the document, Netflix no longer will be obligated to accept delivery or make payments for any films, television shows or other content as of July 11.

One exception is the second season of the animated children’s series Spy Kids, which is based on director Robert Rodriguez’s popular film series.
The settlement resolves Netflix’s part in the dispute over Peaky Blinders, a British period gangster epic with a rabid fan base. Originally acquired by The Weinstein Co in 2013 when it took U.S. TV and VOD rights,  it later sold the Birmingham-set saga on to Netflix, but retained a credit as U.S. distributor.

A spokesperson for Netflix said Peaky Blinders will remain on the service, uninterrupted.

Netflix is holding on to $1.6 million in license fees to be paid once The Weinstein Co and Endemol Shine resolve their differences. Endemol has filed legal documents claiming Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct represents a contract breach on the part of Weinstein Television.

Supermodel Cindy Crawford Is The Latest Cover Star For The March Issue Of 'Instyle'
The supermodel's photo shoot is dedicated to Versace's Spring 2018 collection and the late designer Gianni Versace.

After recently revealing Oprah Winfrey as its March 2018 cover star, InStyle snagged another big get for its spring fashion issue: Cindy Crawford. Photographed by Carter Smith, the supermodel wears a gold chainmail Versace gown on — similar to Gigi and Bella Hadid's ensembles for the March cover of British Vogue —  for one of the publication's subscriber covers. (Natalia Vodianova is also a subscriber-only cover star, which was announced on Tuesday.)
Inside the issue, Crawford's photo shoot, styled by Karla Welch, is dedicated to Donatella Versace's Spring 2018 collection, a tribute to her brother and late designer Gianni Versace. In an interview with Eric Wilson, Crawford recalls reuniting with her fellow OG supermodels on the runway for the fashion house's show in Milan last September, as well as shooting the collection's ad campaign. Wilson also spoke to Donatella herself about maintaining Versace's place in pop culture over the years and the gossip surrounding the future of the brand. Though, rumors on her replacement were denied.

"As much as it has already happened that I opened the door to my house to other designers, I do not really understand what all the fuss is about that it might happen again," she tells Wilson. "When you have a brand like Versace, it comes with huge baggage, and sometimes you want to see it through the eyes of someone else to remain relevant."
Visit InStyle.com to see the full shoot and story. InStyle's March issue goes on sale Friday, Feb. 9.

#RHoA: Porsha Williams Exits RHOA Barcelona Trip Early After Near-Physical Fight: 'It's Just Too Much'
Porsha Williams shocked Real Housewives of Atlanta fans on Sunday’s episode when she departed the group vacation to Barcelona less than 48 hours into the girls trip, citing feelings of isolation and instigation from her fellow cast members.
“I’ve tried over and over again with these girls, but all I keep getting is torn down,” the 36-year-old Dish Nation host confessed to viewers. “I just don’t think I should be putting myself in that position anymore. I don’t feel that this is a group of people I really want to be around right now. So I’m just going to leave.”

The emotional decision came hours after Williams and frequent Housewives guest Marlo Hampton nearly got into a physical brawl during a cast dinner at a tapas restaurant, with Hampton grabbing a fan Williams was using out of her hand.
Their battle left Williams, who had been involved in two previous physical fights on the show and has spent time in anger management, worried she would return to that place again.

“Once I got here, I started to see people were doing s—. A real ass person like me starts to feel like I’m trapped, and that’s when I act out,” Williams told fellow Atlanta Housewife NeNe Leakes when explaining why she wanted to leave. “I don’t want to go back to that.”

“I’ve done anger management, I’ve done personal therapy, and I want to take myself out of the situation,” she added. “It’s just too much for me. … [They’re] trying to bring me to a certain level that I don’t want to be at.”
Leakes understood Williams’ decision, having had her own struggles with anger in the past. “I definitely have been in your place so many damn times,” she told Williams. “At one point … everything would just take me to the next level. I hate that you fell this way because this is a sisterhood. We have highs and lows, and you need to know how to push through those low moments.”

Though she and Williams have had their own conflict, Leakes said she saw their chat as an opportunity for them to mend fences. “Something is wrong with Porsha, I can see it all in her eyes,” she said. “This is my time to really be serious with Porsha and become her big sister once again. We have a family here. We’re just dysfunctional, honey.”
But Leakes’ olive branch likely isn’t enough to change Williams’ standing with the rest of the Atlanta Housewives.

Many are still angry at Williams for spreading false allegations last season that Kandi Burruss and her husband Todd Tucker had planned on drugging her and their mutual friend Shamea Morton in order to take advantage of them sexually — something Williams said she only repeated after former Housewife and close friend Phaedra Parks told Williams the information had come first-hand from Burruss. (Parks was later let go from the show after revealing she had heard the information from an unnamed source).

Williams has apologized to Burruss and many of the women separately for repeating the claim. And while Burruss and company continue to spend time around Williams, they bring up what she did to Burruss in fights, showing that none of them have truly forgiven her.

“Every time someone gets into an argument with Porsha, they bring me up,” Burrus said. “It really bothers Porsha because she knows that she was wrong. But because she’s not owning it, they’re going to keep throwing it at her.”
In Barcelona alone, Cynthia Bailey and Hampton mentioned Burruss when fighting with Williams — the latter slamming Williams’ tears over Hampton’s insults about the size of her doormat (yes, really).
“What I just did is no worse than what you did to Kandi,” Hampton said. “You weren’t crying about the lie you told Kandi! … You go about crying about the mat your mamma bought. Did she cry about hurting [Kandi]?”

Hampton’s words once again left Williams frustrated. “I feel beat down,” Williams said. “I’ve reached out to these girls several times to try to smooth things out with Kandi. I keep getting these invitations that I keep accepting but every time I’m present, all I’m getting is torn down. … I am feeling broken.”
“I just feel like I have given so much and I don’t see anything coming back,” she told Leakes. “Two years ago, I knew I was wrapped up in working and said, ‘You need to spend time with your family — sit and cherish the ones who love you and support you.’ And it has fed my spirit just as if I got closer with God. But when I come around the group, I try to be that same vulnerable Porsha, it’s like I get slapped.”
So can Williams fix it moving forward? Leakes seems to think so, but only if she’s honest with the group.

“I was waiting for you to just say something, ‘I f—– up,’ ” Leakes said. “And I feel like everyone would say, ‘We love Porsha anyway so let’s just move the f– on.’ I think everybody feels like she’s never going to say she f—– up. And that makes every time they get into a little battle with you, they want to shoot you one more time.”
Williams was skeptical. “Trust me, if I knew that that’s the statement that would stop their so-called silver bullet, I would have said it,” she said. “But I thought that me going to people individually would be more powerful.”

“I definitely need a break,” she said. The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays (8 p.m. ET) on Bravo

Snoop Dogg doesn’t appear in the video but Bobby and some ladies rap along to this verse while sitting in a white Bentley convertible. “My time was small, but through it all, she had a ball / She didn’t want a lot of (blank) / She just wanted a lil’ bit,” raps Uncle Snoop.

Due out March 9 on Sono Recording Group, Electrik is Bobby’s eighth studio album and the followup to 2016’s Hollywood Hearts.

#BAMM! Omarosa Evicted From The ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ House
BLOOP GIRL BYE! Stuck out tongue closed eyes
Last night, Omarosa got evicted from ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ House.

After nearly 30 days of fighting, silly costumes and competitions, asthma attacks and a hospital stint, the former political aide and notorious reality TV villain’s time on the CBS series came to an end during the show’s season finale. And her time in the Celebrity Big Brother house, as well as her recent exit, was almost as dramatic as her firing from the White House.

Omarosa Manigault Newman was unanimously evicted from the Celebrity Big Brother house but not before she compared the White House to a plantation, said that the president tweets in his underwear and that the situation inside 1600 Penn was bad, like “so bad,” the Washington Post reports.

During her exit interview with “Big Brother” host Julie Chen, Omarosa said “Julie, I would have evicted me five evictions ago,” she told host Julie Chen in an exit interview during the broadcast. “I can’t believe I lasted this long. I took out the biggest target in this game, and that was James (Maslow). Once I did that, I knew there was no chance of me staying in the house any longer.”

Asked if she “really believes” things won’t be OK, she said she changed her mind: “I think that we can — I’ve had a lot of time to think inside of the Big Brother house — we can if we make a pivot as a nation. I was a part of and on the front row of probably one of the most divisive elections in our history. And as a nation, we’re better than that, we’re bigger than that, and we’re bigger than just two parties, am I right?” she said to applause from the studio audience…  “I’ve never had a chance to let my hair down, and just really be authentic and engaged with people, and this was a chance, without television, without sunlight, without family, to let my light shine, and let people know who the true Omarosa is.”

Are you ready for a Remake via the stage? Letoya Luckett, Demetria Mckinney, Kyla Pratt & Da Brat To Star In ‘Set It Off’
Are you a fan of the ’90s cult classic film Set It Off? Well, now you’ll get a chance to see it again, but this time as a stage play. More than 20 years after the theatrical release, the F. Gary Gray directed action movie is being adapted into a play starring rapper and radio personality Da Brat, actress Kyla Pratt, and R&B songbirds LeToya Luckett and Demetria McKinney.

The film, which follows four female friends living in L.A. who decide to plan and execute a string of bank robberies, originally starred powerhouse actresses Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Vivica A. Fox, and Kimberly Elise and became a box office success as well as a top favorite among movie fans. Now, 22-years-later, the film will have the chance to touch a new set of fans with its stage adaptation.

Playing the roles of Francesca “Frankie” Sutton (Vivica A. Fox) and Tisean “T.T.” Williams (Kimberly Elise), Luckett and McKinney have both taken to Instagram to show their appreciation for nabbing their on-stage roles.

#YANKEES: Russell Wilson says putting on Yankees uniform 'one of the coolest things I've ever done'
TAMPA — Russell Wilson, a lifelong Yankees’ fan, called putting on his No. 73 jersey “definitely one of the coolest things I’ve ever done.”
“Ever since I was a young kid I always dreamed of being a Yankee, I always watched them, and my favorite player was Derek Jeter,” the Seahawks quarterback said Monday.

Wilson joked that he tried to get No. 3, “but I think somebody had it already.” He is wearing No. 73 because No. 7 was his high school baseball number, and obviously No. 3 is what he wears with Seattle.

“I always told my dad I’d be a New York Yankee, and now I’m here,” he said of his father, who died at 55 years old in 2010 due to complications from diabetes.
Wilson dismissed the idea that this is all a publicity stunt, while adding that he has no plans to leave the NFL, despite all its issues with CTE, saying he feels fortunate to be one of 32 men who start at quarterback.

“If you really know me, baseball’s been a part of my blood. It’s all about who I am and where I come from and what I’ve done. When you see me make plays on the football field, a lot of that is a direct correlation to baseball,” he said.
The Yankees have said that Wilson will not play in a game during his nearly week-long stint in camp, but he will take batting practice in a group with Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Greg Bird and Gary Sanchez prior to Monday’s game against the Phillies. Wilson participated in double-play drills at second with Didi Gregorius earlier in the day.
“I definitely love playing,” said Wilson, a former minor-leaguer in the Rockies’ organization. “I obviously want to get out there, but I also don’t want to get in the way. I want to learn as much as I can. I’m ready to go up there if they want me to, though. I’ll be ready to swing, I’ll be ready to hack away and turn some DPs.”

Asked what positions Stanton and Judge would play in the NFL, Wilson responded tight end. Wilson added that he and Jimmy Graham often joke that Graham looks like Judge, and Graham wore Judge’s No. 99 jersey for Halloween.

Wilson said he found out his rights were being traded to the Yankees while he was vacationing in the Bahamas before heading to play in his fourth the Pro Bowl. “I was pretty pumped,” he said.
Wilson’s great uncle was a huge Yankees fan — wearing an interlocking NY cap wherever he goes — and the Super Bowl winner always rooted for the Bombers.
“Growing up as a sports fan I was always a fair-weather fan,” he said. “I love watching winners win, and I love seeing the process of how they won, the discipline that it took, the passion of Yankees fans, the energy that they played with, the poise that they played with. I remember all the (title) celebrations, and I used to celebrate with them when I was a kid.”

#SERIOUSLYCLUELESS: Stacey Dash running for Congress in California
Actress and former Fox News commentator Stacey Dash filed paperwork on Monday to run for Congress in California's 44th district, representing Compton, Watts, and San Pedro.

Democrat Nanette Barragán currently represents the district, which overwhelmingly voted for Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election. Dash, a Republican, tweeted earlier this month that "a number of people online and off have suggested I run for political office," and later told her followers, "Things are taking shape." On Monday afternoon, she tweeted that she lives in the 44th district, and "for those mocking the district I live in...open your minds. It's time for me to put up or shut up and I want to serve great people."

Dash, 51, isn't the only conservative actor who came to fame in the '90s running for Congress in California — Melrose Place star Antonio Sabato Jr. announced last year he's running as a Republican in the 26th district.

Hmmmmmm Good Luck with that!
