Camila Cabello for Variety - Power of Young Hollywood Issue 2019
Camila Cabello is one of the stars featured on Variety‘s 2019 Power of Young Hollywood issue, in which she talks about her growth over the past few years, her new album, and more.

Here are some highlights from Camila’s interview:
Camila on what she’s trying to convey in her new album:
“I’m trying to say yes more. I can be a little bit Miranda, but I’m trying to be Carrie in the sense that I love experiences; I’m a romantic; I’m emotional. But I think through stuff a lot.  … It’s like there’s two Camilas: the one that’s a scared, little hermit crab, and, if left her own devices, will just stay home. And there’s the other who’s, like, ‘No, we’re going out.’ And she takes the other Camilla by the hand and just f–king drags her. That’s what I’m trying to do, and I think it’s what I did these past two years.”

On writing about falling in love:
“Falling in love is like an infinite amount of levels and layers and angles. I fell in love and just opened up. Everything was written in present moment.”
On trusting her own opinions:
“Before, if I was unsure about something, I’d send it to everybody I knew. And I’ve learned that when you’re unsure, that’s your time to really look inward and, as Oprah says, ‘get quiet.’ The answer is always waiting for you. But if it’s too loud in your head or you’re running around f–ing flailing asking other people, you’re never gonna hear it.”

On working with Shawn Mendes on Señorita
“I’ve known Shawn for such a long time, and it’s so much fun getting to work and do things with somebody who means a lot to you.”

On living in the public eye:
“Because I’ve been doing this for such a long time, I forget that I am quote-unquote famous or that people are looking at me. It makes me insanely uncomfortable to see pictures of me that I didn’t know were taken. I honestly hate it. I don’t want to live like a celebrity and have to look perfect every time I step out of my house. I ignore it as much as possible. If I’m going to look like s— that day and cameras are in my face, I don’t care because I choose being human and normal.”
On social media:
“I’m really conscious about my intention. Am I trying to connect with my fans or trying to see what people think about me? If it’s the second, it always ends up with hurt feelings. And if there are things going on in my personal life, I totally avoid social media because I feel like I have to go into protecting-myself-being-normal state.”

#RHOA: Apollo Nida Wants to know why Phaedra is Keeping Their Kids Away From Him?
Over the weekend, former Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Apollo Nida took to Instagram to address his ex-wife and mother of his two children, Ayden, 9 and Dylan, 6, for allegedly not allowing him visitation with their boys. In his post, Apollo shares a sweet picture of Ayden and Dylan, sending a message that he will continue to fight for his right as a father. He says,

“DON’T WORRY ! We will be together soon, No matter what, she can’t keep us apart. The fight will not stop to be a good DAD!!! There’s not a day that goes by I don’t think of the 2 of u. LOVE AND MISS YA SO MUCH.“
Close friend of Apollo and fellow former RHOA husband, Peter Thomas added a comment writing:

“Wow!!!! This went public??? Not good.”

Apollo was first released from Fort Dix Correctional Facility on June 4. But just over a week later, he was taken back into custody for allegedly violating the terms of his release. Apollo was originally sentenced to eight years after he pleaded guilty to laundering more than $2.3 million via fake bank accounts, stolen checks and other avenues.

As previously reported, Apollo’s ex, former RHOA cast member, Phaedra Parks expressed her disappointment when he was sent back to jail just before Father’s Day. At the time she stated,
“There’s a box of Father’s Day cards, mugs, little plates and things that they’ve made that I was going to send him. And so my youngest son was like, “so daddy will be here for Father’s Day?”And I had explained to him, no. He couldn’t come anyway because he was in the halfway house transition home. But you know, they can’t talk to him at all now because he’s back in prison.”

She continues, adding her disappointment in her ex-husband.

“I was disappointed, but at the same time, I don’t know if I was that shocked because he is a risk taker and I just hate it because now it’s just above all of us, only Jesus can fix it. I can’t make him be what he doesn’t want to be. He has to want to change. Being a parent does not come with the manual. So I don’t think that there’s any perfect parents, but obviously when you have a parent that is absent, like my ex husband, it makes it very difficult because I am the sole provider. You know, a woman cannot really teach a young man how to be a man. And so that’s been the source of frustration for me.”

#NewMusic from DRAM & H.E.R. ‘The Lay Down’
Rapper-turnt-sanger DRAM, whose name is an acronym for "Does Real A** Music," is attempting to live up to that title by digging into his soul singer bag for the modern throwback "The Lay Down" and its newly released music video. The VA-native hooked up with producer watt and fellow acronym-named singer H.E.R. to deliver an intoxicating ballad that accurately recreates a '70s soul feel with DRAM's patented sense of humor. The trio continues to push the '70s soul vibe in the Aisultan Seitov-directed video. DRAM dressed in all white, stands on a large, white compact disc in a pool of tranquil water, making the case for making sweet love.

The camera pans out and we see his band and background singers dressed in metallic outfits also standing on the water. The camera then moves up to reveal H.E.R. sitting on a crescent moon, rocking a sheer, sparkly gown and echoing DRAM’s sentiments. The outro guitar solo from watt is a sheer delight to watch.
WATCH HERE

The clip is also filled with dramatic lasers, spacey lighting and Beats headphones placement that stops just short of being cheesy. Keep watching until the end of the video for an unexpected twist.“The Lay Down” is DRAM’s first release since sharing his THAT’S A GIRL’S NAME EP. It will be featured on his sophomore album, which will feature more singing from the artist. Although he's not the best singer, we're not mad at Big Baby DRAM's desire to let his soul glow, especially when he does it this well.

Young Thug is ringing in his 28th birthday with a new album. The YSL Records founder has announced his next LP, So Much Fun, will drop this Friday (August 16).

Thugger unveiled the cover art and release date in an Instagram post. The caption simply read, “8.16.”

“If you want to talk about Young Thug as an artist, he’s an innovator,” Cole said. “If you know skills, you call him a mumble rapper all you want, but if you know skills and you know the art of rapping, that dude is a genius.”

Cole and Thug most recently teamed up on the collaborative single “The London,”.

Janet Jackson Admits She Doesn't Use A Nanny To Help With Son Eissa “It's Just My Baby And Me,” She Said Of Raising Her 2-Year-Old Son.
Janet Jackson is very hands-on when it comes to raising her two-year-old son. So much so that the “Rhythm Nation” singer doesn’t even use a nanny, she said in a recent interview.
Despite juggling a Las Vegas residency that ends later this month, Jackson admitted that she tries to do the hard work of raising Eissa, her son with ex-husband Wissam Al Mana, without help.

“It is hard being a working mother,” she told the Daily Telegraph’s Stellar magazine according to Entertainment Tonight. “I don’t have a nanny, I do it all myself.”
She added: “Of course, when I’m working someone watches him, but it’s my baby and me.”

Her Park MGM residency, “Metamorphosis” has been a hit since it launched in May with the likes of Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Gabrielle Union, Queen Latifah, Magic Johnson, and Yvette Nicole Brown in attendance.
During her acceptance speech at her induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in March, she made sure to send a sweet message to Eissa.

“I just want to thank my baby, my beautiful son,” she said. “He wakes me up every single morning singing his own melodies. I want you to know that you are my heart, you are my life, and you have shown me the meaning of real, unconditional love. Mama loves you, Eissa.”

That Fabulousness that is Simone Biles! She makes history again with floor routine, wins 6th US title
As she won her sixth U.S. women's gymnastics title Sunday, Simone Biles hit yet another historic milestone — this time, during her floor routine.
Biles, 22, performed a stunning triple-twisting double-flip during the final night of the Women's Gymnastics Championship in Kansas City, Mo.

Fans cheered on the five-time Olympic medalist as she went for the landing at the end of her tumbling pass, nearly coming in out of bounds, but in the end landing with her feet firmly within the floor area.
The crowd went wild for Biles, who's not only considered one of the greatest gymnasts of her generation, but of all time. As soon as she finished her performance, Biles said she grabbed her phone to watch a video of the routine before she headed off to compete in vault.
“I didn’t want to be the last person to see it,” she said, according to Team USA. “So I went online to see what it looked like.”
The tumbling pass – three twists and two flips – was the first of its kind landed in women's gymnastics history, and came after Biles made history Friday night at the competition when she became the first gymnast ever to attempt a double-twisting, double somersault dismount from the balance beam.

Biles went into the second night of championships with a 1.75-point lead, and ultimately scored 118.500 throughout the event — nearly five points clear of Sunia Lee, who came in second, and almost seven points ahead of third-place finisher Grand McCallum.
She won her sixth all-around title at the event. The last time a female gymnast earned six U.S. titles was 67 years ago in 1952, when Clara Lomady won.

Following her routines Sunday, Biles said she "was a lot happier" than after her performance on Friday.

"I feel I haven't been as confident on bars this year as I was last year," she said. "To finally do a good routine like I can do it, I was really happy. I was very happy and the last event, so I was like, 'Thank God we're done.'"

Lady Gaga funds local teacher projects in El Paso Texas and Dayton Ohio in wake of shooting
Some Dayton-area teachers got a fundraising boost this week thanks to music star Lady Gaga, but Dayton Public Schools staff did not benefit because of the district for the moment bans staff from receiving funds from crowdfunding efforts.

Lady Gaga announced Friday that her Born This Way Foundation had fully funded all classroom projects from Dayton, El Paso, Texas, and Gilroy, Calif., that were listed on a crowdfunding website called Donors Choose. The three communities were all hit by mass shootings in an eight-day span. The singer’s post said “14 classrooms in Dayton, 125 classrooms in El Paso, and 23 classrooms in Gilroy will now have access to the support they need to inspire their students to work together and bring their dreams to life.”According to the Donors Choose site, the requests Lady Gaga funded included a classroom table in Mad River schools, an area rug at a Clayton elementary, books at the Miami Valley Academies charter school, and a table and soft chairs at the Richard Allen charter school in Dayton.

Some of those projects had already been partially funded via regular crowdfunding donors, and Gaga’s foundation covered the rest of the cost. Projects from Dayton Public Schools are not listed on the site, however, because last September the school board approved a policy prohibiting school employees from launching crowdfunding campaigns on behalf of Dayton Public Schools or any individual school.

The board made its decision after the Ohio Auditor’s office encouraged schools to set formal crowdfunding policies. The Auditor’s office said allowing the donations without rules created the potential for improper project requests or donations being diverted for private use.At the time, Superintendent Elizabeth Lolli said DPS had funding streams available for many items that teachers can tap into. But with no mechanism to track crowdfunding, she said DPS didn’t want to make “an error in judgment” by allowing the process and then not having the manpower to control it.

School board Vice President Jocelyn Rhynard said Sunday that the board voted to prohibit crowdfunding just to create time to review the best policy going forward. She said after getting advice from the Ohio School Boards Association, she had hoped to make progress this summer, but the two school board policy committee meetings did not have a quorum.“We have a policy meeting I believe on Aug. 20 before the review meeting where this will be on the agenda,” Rhynard said. “It’s frustrating that we don’t have policy put in place, but we want to make sure that this is done thoughtfully with all of the contingencies worked out beforehand so there are fewer problems afterward.”Rhynard said the draft policy would make Donors Choose the sole permitted crowdfunding site for DPS staff, with guidelines on what projects can be pursued. “It does need to be in line with academic goals, and there should be somebody (from DPS) who oversees it, just in case something (is proposed) that takes away from our mission,” she said.

Did John Singleton’s girlfriend abandoned him in his last days?
The mother of John Singleton penned a scorching public letter accusing his surviving girlfriend, Rayvon Jones, of doing far too little to save the legendary director’s life back in April.
As has been reported, the director of the classics Boyz N the Hood, Baby Boy as well as Shaft and 2 Fast 2 Furious died on April 29, 2019, after suffering a major stroke. Singleton had just returned from a trip to Costa Rica in Central America when he complained of not feeling well and of weakness in his legs.
Singleton quickly went into a coma after checking into an L.A. hospital. He never recovered and died days later.

In a Facebook post Singleton’s mother blames Jones, his child’s mother, for not doing more to save her son’s life.
“My mind is wrapped [around] the beginning of your body’s fall. You were vomiting up blood, you had trimmers that night. Don’t know what came first vomit or the argument. Or did it begin as you boarded the plane home? You were tired when you left and tired when you returned. No open arms, just crossed defiant fists greeting you. I visualize the stress and your fatigue, I could not protect you.”

Singleton’s mother, Shiela Morgan, suggested in the scathing Facebook post that the Hustle & Flow producer suffered the fatal stroke while in the bathtub, and believes no one around tried to save his life.
“Only the baby in the bath with you gave you comfort. Fear must have struck when your body began to trimmer again and you couldn’t lift yourself from the sunken tub of water. Will the baby remember those moments? Didn’t they know to never be placed in a bath after you showed signs of trimmer. And in that moment you knew these people could not help you nor could they have the brainpower to find someone who could. No care that was given to you when your body expressed a distressing need to be shielded from the blood seeping from your cranial vessels.”

Morgan remains angry that no one called her nor first responders in the critical final moments of Singleton’s consciousness.
“No one called ME. No one called 911. They shifted you to your bed and let you lay until the morning. No one called your mother or the medical professionals who could have helped you. NO NO NO. I can’t stop thinking about this truth.”
The mother concluded her fiery FB post by saying she never wants any of them who were around him to ever get near her.

“Don’t blame them I [feel] so sorry for them because they must live with that. I don’t blame them yet I am repelled from their energy. I know not to let them touch me or surround me.”
Jones vehemently denies Morgan’s claims. Jones said she and Singleton both believed it was a case of food poisoning and that’s why they opted to take a bath instead of calling an ambulance. She said she would have never put his life in danger.

Liam Hemsworth Speaks Out About Split From Miley Cyrus
Liam Hemsworth is, understandably, taking his split from Miley Cyrus very hard.
The 29-year-old Australian actor spoke out about his break-up, admitting that he's having a tough time, on Monday (August 12), just two days after his wife's rep announced that the couple, who wed in December 2018, had "agreed to separate at this time."

"You don't understand what it's like," Liam told Daily Mail Australia when asked about the split while out on a frozen yogurt run with his older brother Chris Hemsworth and the Thor actor's three children. He added, "I don't want to talk about it mate."

Liam's statement came hours after Miley broke her silence about the split, following the release of photos of her kissing Brody Jenner's ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter, during the ladies' group vacation in Lake Como, Italy. "Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win. Like the mountain I am standing on top of , which was once under water , connected with Africa , change is inevitable," she captioned a photo of her atop a mountain. "The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed. My dad always told me 'Nature never hurries but it is always on time'.... it fills my heart with peace and hope KNOWING that is true. I was taught to respect the planet and its process and I am committed to doing the same with my own .... 💙."

The 26-year-old singer later added in two additional posts, "New day. New adventure. 💚 Life’s a climb... but the view is great."

Miley and Liam met in 2009 on the set of Nicholas Sparks' film The Last Song. Despite having an on-and-off-again relationship, the couple got engaged in 2012. However, they called it off a year later, before reconciling in 2015. The two then got married in a quiet ceremony at their Tennessee home in December 2018.

#FASHION: All you Need Is Fashion! Stella McCartney “All Together Now” Beatles-Inspired Collection
Last year, the iconic Beatles film ‘Yellow Submarine’ celebrated its 50th anniversary, with its vivid hand-drawn imagery—by German artist Heinz Edelmann—digitally remastered for a modern audience. Stella attended a screening with family and friends and left inspired.

“It affected me in a way I just wasn’t expecting. Especially this idea of connecting people and bringing people together—politically this message has never been more relevant. So, I came out and I was like ‘I have to do something.’” – Stella

And so, the ‘All Together Now’ collection was born. With its accompanying campaign film, it is a psychedelic adventure through a colourful world, bringing the music, comedy, imagery and spirit of the film back to life in a new way. The film’s timeless message of peace, love and togetherness resonates deeply with the Stella McCartney ethos, and Stella sets out to reimagine it for a new generation. A fun, uplifting and hopeful statement of unity, at a time when it feels more important than ever.

Sarah Silverman Was Just Fired From Movie for Doing Blackface in 2007
Sarah Silverman once did blackface for a 2007 episode of The Sarah Silverman Program, and the resurfaced image caused her to get fired from a movie recently.

“I recently was going to do a movie, a sweet part, then at 11 p.m. the night before they fired me because they saw a picture of me in blackface from that episode. I didn’t fight it,” Sarah said on the Bill Simmons podcast. “They hired someone else who is wonderful but who has never stuck their neck out. It was so disheartening. It just made me real real sad, because I really kind of devoted my life to making it right.”

They then went on to speak about “cancel culture.”

“I think it’s really scary and it’s a very odd thing that it’s invaded the left primarily and the right will mimic it,” Sarah added. “It’s like, if you’re not on board, if you say the wrong thing, if you had a tweet once … everyone is, like, throwing the first stone. It’s so odd. It’s a perversion. … It’s really, ‘Look how righteous I am and now I’m going to press refresh all day long to see how many likes I get in my righteousness.’”

Sarah Silverman continued, “It’s OK to go, ‘Wow, look at this back then. That was so f*cked up looking at it in the light of today of what we know,’ but to hold that person accountable if they’ve changed with the times, like for me … I held myself accountable. I can’t erase that I did that, but I can only be changed forever and do what I can to make it right for the rest of my life. If I look back on my old self and don’t cringe, there’s something wrong. Because if you’re putting yourself out there, it’s not going to be timeless.”

Black Ink’s Ceaser Released After Being Arrested For Fake Driver’s License
Black Ink’s Ceaser was arrested on Friday in New York after running a red light and failing to yield to pedestrians while going through a residential area in Brooklyn.

According to TMZ, Ceaser was immediately pulled over and was asked to produce his license and registration. The reality star handed over a license that read “Emmanuel Thomas,” instead of his real name, David Emmanuel.
Not only was the name incorrect, but the birthday was also eight years off. The license said he was born in June 1971 rather than his actual birthday, 1979.

The publication also reports that Ceaser was not able to produce a valid insurance card, which is why he was arrested on a misdemeanor for false impersonation and other traffic violations.

The reality star has since then been released.

Trump Administration’s New “Public Charge” Law Will Punish Legal Immigrants Using Government Assistance
Donald Trump’s administration plans on punishing immigrants who use benefits and government assistance.
Trump’s administration is looking to move forward with its plans to penalize immigrants for using government assistance in an effort to revamp the U.S. immigration systems. Under the new rules, immigrants who use or are expected to use a variety of federal, state and local government benefits, including food stamps, housing vouchers, and Medicaid, will be denied green cards and visas.

The new rule is called “public charge,” a move Trump and his followers in the White House have been adamant about implementing. The guideline is set to be published in the Federal Register on Wednesday. Ken Cuccinelli, the acting director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, announced the move Monday morning. Cuccinelli says the rule’s purpose is to clarify existing law, which was designed to make sure immigrants do not become dependent on the government.
“Through the public charge rule, President Trump’s administration is re-enforcing the ideal of self-sufficiency and personal responsibility, ensuring that immigrants are able to support themselves and become successful in America,” he said.

“Public charge” is set to go into effect in 60 days but is expected to be met with backlash from immigrant rights groups.

Camila Cabello for Cosmopolitan UK June 2018 Speak about having OCD!
Camila Cabello is about to have the best summer, ever.

The singer is in the middle of her Never Be the Same Tour and then will go off to join Taylor Swift for her Reputation Tour.
"I love her. We just talk about boys," the 21-year-old star says about the "Delicate" singer exclusively to Cosmopolitan UK. "She loves love, and we love talking about it. It's fun to just vent and talk and dream."

And during both world tours, Cabello will have the support from her friend Swift and her mother, who is always with her when she's away from home.
"It's the hardest part--being away from my family. I would never want to move to LA because I can't live away from them. [So, when she travels, her mom goes with her] It's really nice, she's my best friend," Cabello explains. "My other half. There's something about being with your mom. You just feel like a kid. And your family doesn't care if you've messed up or you flopped or if your song tanked. They love you no matter what and that's so important to me."

The singer also opened up about living with OCD, obsessive-compulsive disorder.

"OCD is weird. I laugh about it now. Everybody has different ways of handling stress," she explains. "And, for me, if I get really stressed thinking about something, I'll start to have the same thought over and over again, and no matter how many times I get to the resolution, I feel like something bad is about to happen if I don't keep thinking about it. I didn't know what it was and when I found out, and [learned] how to step back from it, it made me feel so much better. I feel so much more in control of it now. To the point where I'm just like, 'Aha! OK, this is just my OCD.' I'll ask my mom a question for the fourth time, and she'll be like, 'That's OCD. You've got to let it go.'"
"Don't ever get comfortable. No matter what anybody says to me, I know that I need more than one good album to have a career," she says. "Even when somebody tells me statistics and numbers that are amazing, I remind myself that if you can't keep it up for 15 years like the greatest people have done [then]...That's why I look to people like Prince and Madonna because it reminds me, 'You've got a lot to do, honey, before you can ever stop learning and growing.' Never let it go to your head and always remind yourself how much better you need to be."

The singer also told the magazine that the money isn't the reason behind her career. In fact, it isn't a priority for her at all.
"I hate the word 'money'. I just don't...my worst fear is making an album for it to sell a lot or be super successful. I don't want to be the person that's making songs in the studio saying, 'Radio is going to love this' or 'We're going to be rich after this song,'" she explains. "That's just so cringey to me. Because, for me, music is not my business, it's my life. I just need enough to make my family and me good and comfortable, and that's been such a huge blessing for me to be able to do that for them."

The former Fifth Harmony member reflected on what it's been like for her to leave the group and do it all on her own.
"It still feels good...I loved making all the decisions because the product was something that was fully representative of me," she says. "It's like making coffee or breakfast. It tastes better than going to a restaurant, because it's yours, because you made it. That's what it felt like for me."
Cabello's full interview appears in the June 2018 issue of Cosmopolitan, on sale Thursday.

#RHoA: Is Kenya Moore’s Husband STILL Refusing To Move To Atlanta?
It’s no secret that Kenya Moore’s husband, Marc Daly, doesn’t like the Real Housewives of Atlanta or the city of Atlanta which would be fine if he weren’t married to an Atlanta Housewife.
Throughout season 10 of RHOA, Kenya made it clear the couple was still on the fence about where they would call home since she’s based in the ATL while her man is based in NYC.

Despite the fact that Kenya and Marc are expanding their family with a baby in late 2018, they still aren’t any closer to living in the same city.
In fact, Life & Style reports that Kenya and Marc’s marriage could end over their living situation.

“Everyone is expecting their marriage to crumble over the living situation,” a source reveals. “The last thing he wants to do is move from NYC to Atlanta.”
And don’t expect Kenya to be giving up RHOA and moving to NYC anytime soon.

“Kenya lives for the fame. She’ll never quit the show, not even for her husband,” the source wrapped.
Isn’t this something you’re supposed to discuss before getting married? Anyway, I’m still confused if Kenya is pregnant or not. Yes, Kenya said she’s having a baby in 2018 and made it clear she’s carrying but she also asked for a cocktail during part 2 of the reunion.

Do you think Marc will move to Atlanta? Will Kenya and Marc continue to live separately?

#Empire: Taraji P. Henson and Angela Bassett Prove the Best Comment Will Always Be ‘No Comment’
While promoting her upcoming gender-swapped remake of Nancy Meyers box office hit What Women Want on Wednesday night, Taraji P. Henson was asked by a reporter from the Associated Press whether or not she knew what Kanye West really meant by his mid-week Twitter rant. Both she and Angela Bassett, who joined her for the event, appeared shocked by the question, but Henson responded with a succinct, “No comment.”

“Does he know what he wants? He keeps changing what he wants. How are we supposed to keep up with what he wants?” Bassett asks.

“That’s why I said no comment,” Henson adds. “I don’t know. Can’t help you.”
Though the AP reporter graps at straws for a peg by attempting to connect the question with the movie she was on the red carpet to promote (“Your movie is What Men Want, I wonder if you know what Kanye wants”), I couldn’t help but wonder whether or not the same reporter would have posed that question to the film’s white female lead, Wendy McLendon Covey. Most of me thinks, Uh, no shit that wouldn’t have happened. As far as I know, West and Henson aren’t known to be good friends, they never publicly dated, and Henson didn’t react to the news on Twitter as it happened. So... why ask? Because they’re both black?

But I digress. The point is that Henson refused to play the AP’s little game of aligning herself with Team Kanye or Team Fuck Kanye, and instead placed a flag in the increasingly little occupied territory of Team No Comment.

It’s a good place to be, and Henson knows it

#RnBFlashback: Minnie Riperton ‘Loving You’
Minnie Riperton, the singer with a distinctively high upper vocal range, topped the charts around the world in 1975 with "Lovin' You," one of the period's most distinctive and iconic hits. But the song only scratches the surface of Riperton's remarkable musical career, which began in her teens and ended prematurely with her untimely passing in 1979, at the age of 31. And it's only one facet of the extraordinary album from which it emerged, Perfect Angel. But one of my best songs off the project.

Listen and Reminisce HERE

Like I said Upon Minnie's untimely passing, Richard Rudolph created The Minnie Riperton Fund for breast and woman's cancers at the Los Angeles based Concern Foundation for cancer research to continue the battle against this tragic illness that took her from us at such an early age. Donations in support of The Minnie Riperton Fund, provides essential funding to the early stage of discovery within the laboratory of the most promising cancer immunotherapies for patients. This work has laid the foundation for nearly every major cancer immunotherapy breakthrough over the past half-century.  For more information on The Minnie Riperton Fund, go HERE

Lupita Nyong’o To Star In Remake Of John Woo’s ‘The Killer’
John Woo and Universal Pictures are teaming on a new version of his 1989 Hong King crime classic The Killer. It is intended as a star vehicle for Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o. She is negotiating to play the assassin, a role originated by Chow Yun-fat. The studio has the film on a fast track, with Woo directing.

Eran Creevy (Collide) rewrote the script based on an original draft by Cloverfield Lane‘s Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken, and Brian Helgeland is being brought on to do a production pass. Producing alongside Woo and his A Better Tomorrow Films is eOne’s Mark Gordon and Lori Tilkin. Matt Jackson, Lori Tilkin and Luc Etienne are exec producing with Terence Chang. eOne’s Josh Clay Phillips will also have a producing role and is overseeing the project with Tilkin. The aim is to begin production later this year in France and Germany.

Nyong’o won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for 12 Years A Slave, followed with two Star Wars films, and she just co-starred in Black Panther. In The Killer, she will play the assassin who puts her own life on the line to save a woman whom she accidentally blinded in her last hit.

The film is a touchstone picture, one widely emulated for its balletic, stylized violent scenes. The redo will blend espionage with extraordinary stunts to capture the feel of the original. Universal VP Production Sara Scott will oversee for the studio.

See Photos From Scad Film & Hulu Hosting ‘The Handmaid’s Tale Screening + Exhibition’
Atlanta’s Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) teamed up with Hulu Monday night for a special advanced screening of their hit series The Handmaid’s Tale. The viewing was in honor of SCAD FASH new costume exhibition of the series and features more than 40 garments created by the show’s award-winning costume designer—Ane Crabtree.

The evening began with a pre-show reception at SCAD FASH where attendees were able to check out the exhibition featuring Crabtree’s creations. Following that was the screening of episode three from season 2 at the SCAD Show. That was followed by a Q&A session hosted by Eric Wilson of InStyle Magazine. It was during this discussion that Crabtree talked candidly about designing the looks for the characters and how she drew inspiration from her life as child of color growing up in rural Kentucky.

“What I think we do artists in life is we take all that strangeness and macabreness and make it funny. So when I was thinking of The Handmaid’s Tale, I thought nothing should be absolutely beautiful and everything should be slightly full of tension. Everyone says it’s not full of tension, it’s just damn ugly,” said Crabtree.
In addition to her, attendees also got to meet some of the show’s cast members: Ever Carradine, Robert Curtis Brown, Amanda Brugel, Nina Kiri and Stephen Kunken. Actress Madeline Brewer recalled a conversation she had with Crabtree about the garments and how she used it to contextualize her character, Janine.

“So much of the exploration of Janine as a character came from talking to Ane in Pine Mountain, Georgia, where I was shooting a film. She came down to me and I just remember our conversation helped spark so much of Janine for me and my understanding of the clothing. Being inside of Ane’s mind frame for a brief moment just plucks you into the world of Gilead. She’s so in touch with it,” said Brewer.
The Handmaid’s Tale follows the story of a dystopian future that forces women into subservient roles after an uprising against the US government. The show is an adaptation of Margaret Atwood‘s 1985 novel of the same title, which won the 1985 Governor General’s Award and the first Arthur C. Clarke Award in 1987. The series also stars Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Alexis Bledel and Samira Wiley.

Check out more photos from the screening below:
The SCAD FASH Exhibition of The Handmaid’s Tale is open now through August 12.

Cardi B says Nicki Minaj Was Not ‘Nice’ To Her!
It sounds like Cardi B called out fellow rapper Nikki Minaj! Are they feuding?

It all started when a fan commented about their relationship on Instagram and Cardi B replied, making it seem that she may not like Minaj very much.
‘You want to comment on everything but what you really need to. Answer why you’ve got such a pressure with Nicki when she was so nice to you h*e,’ the user wrote.

Without going too much into detail, the Bodak Yellow rapper simply asked the commenter to explain: ‘Nice how? Tell me?’
That totally sounds like there is much more to the story and that they are totally beefing.
As you may be aware, reports that Cardi and Nicki Minaj were feuding behind the scenes have been going around for a while.
Speculations that Nicki was jealous of Cardi stealing her spotlight exploded as soon as Cardi started getting famous last year.

But at the time, both women denied there was anything but love and appreciating between them.
In addition, they even collabed by both appearing on Migos’ Motorsport track.
There was a hint that their relationship was not the best, however.

During an interview, Cardi B stated that ‘When I heard the track, her verse was not finished. It was not the verse that is on it right now.’

A few months after, we found out why the verse was changed – because it sounded like Minaj was dissing Cardi B despite the song being a collab between them.
‘If Cardi the QB, I’m Nick Lombardi,’ a leaked original lyric said.

Nicki also opened up about the situation saying that ‘The only thing that Cardi really, really hurt my feelings was the very first interview she did after Motorsport. I remember when I came in the game, if a female of that stature had done a feat. with me on it, I’d only be singing their praises and saying, ‘Thank you.’ But the first interview she did after Motorsport came out, it hurt me. She looked aggravated and angry. And the only thing she kept saying was, ‘Oh, I did not hear that, I did not hear her verse.’ I was like…’What?’’

Later on, Minaj also took to social media to say that the verse was indeed changed to omit Cardi B’s name and she was not happy about it.
‘How can you say that someone changed their verse and forgot to say Quavo TOLD me remove my singing part (which I loved) and Atlantic told me to remove your name from the verse per your request? So how were these changes going to happen if I did not ‘change’ my verse?’

R. Kelly STRIKES BACK at #TimesUp! His Management Says Time’s Up Movement “Rushed to Judgment” by Supporting #MuteRKelly Campaign
The Time’s Up movement has joined the #MuteRKelly online campaign.

In an open letter published online, the Women of Color of Times’s Up has declared its alliance with the campaign founded by Oronike Odeleye and Kenyette Barnes and aimed at protesting the Grammy winner, boycotting his music and stopping his performances.

The Women of Color of Time’s Up are a group of activists, executives, filmmakers, actresses, authors, athletes and women in various industries who aim to organize around issues that are especially important to women and girls of color. “We call on people everywhere to join with us to insist on a world in which women of all kinds can pursue their dreams free from sexual assault, abuse and predatory behavior,” the collective wrote in the public message.

Feel free to sign the petition by clicking HERE.

R. Kelly’s management releases a statement to E Online.”
“R. Kelly supports the pro-women goals of the Time’s Up movement.  We understand criticizing a famous artist is a good way to draw attention to those goals—and in this case, it is unjust and off-target,” a statement from the star’s management read. “We fully support the rights of women to be empowered to make their own choices. Time’s Up has neglected to speak with any of the women who welcome R. Kelly’s support, and it has rushed to judgment without the facts.  Soon it will become clear Mr. Kelly is the target of a greedy, conscious and malicious conspiracy to demean him, his family and the women with whom he spends his time.”

As the statement concluded, “R. Kelly’s music is a part of American and African-American culture that should never—and will never—be silenced. Since America was born, black men and women have been lynched for having sex or for being accused of it. We will vigorously resist this attempted public lynching of a black man who has made extraordinary contributions to our culture.”

JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL! Kanye West: Slavery was a CHOICE!
Miss Donda must be rolling over in her grave! anye West dropped by TMZ on Tuesday to tell the newsroom staff that he loves President Donald Trump and that he believes slavery “sounds like a choice,” only to get completely shut down by writer Van Lathan.

“When you hear about slavery for 400 years ... for 400 years? That sounds like a choice,” West said.

“Like, you was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all? It’s like we’re mentally in prison. I like the word ‘prison’ because slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks. It’s like slavery, Holocaust. Holocaust, Jews. Slavery is blacks. So, prison is something that unites us as one race. Blacks and whites being one race. We’re the human race,” he continued.
In the snippet from “TMZ Live,” West is shown asking the entire newsroom: “Do you feel that I’m feeling ... do you feel that I’m being free and I’m thinking free?”

That’s when Lathan hopped up and said he didn’t think West was thinking anything.
“I think what you’re doing right now is actually the absence of thought and the reason why I feel like that is because, Kanye, you’re entitled to your opinion,” said Lathan.

The sportswriter and podcast host then explained what it’s like being a black man when you’re not famous or creatively talented like Kanye West:

You’re entitled to believe whatever you want, but there is fact and real world, real life consequence behind everything you just said. And while you are making music and being an artist and living the life that you’ve earned by being a genius, the rest of us in society have to deal with these threats to our lives. We have to deal with the marginalization that has come from the 400 years of slavery that you said for our people was a choice.

Lathan said he was not only “disappointed” and “appalled,” but also hurt: “I am unbelievably hurt by the fact that you have morphed into something, to me, that is not real.”
The clip ends with Lathan insisting that West be responsible and West apologizing profusely. HuffPost reached out to Lathan for further comment and did not immediately get a response.

Now keep in mind Kanye has a new project due in June and this is his way of promoting the project. I personally think playing with Legacy for dollars is a bad precedence! But hey he gets it from his wife!
