#FASHIONFAB: Cynthia Erivo Covers SHAPE’s Magazine The Power Issue
Even as she’s famously portrayed strong women like Harriet Tubman, Aretha Franklin, her latest role as detective Odette Raine in Luther: The Fallen Sun, and her much-anticipated Elphaba in the film adaptation of Wicked, she’s driven by vulnerability.
“Elphaba has this power she has no idea what to do with or where it comes from.” says Erivo. “And has to make the decision to lean into whatever she has, and try to understand it while being completely different and completely in opposition to what most people deem beautiful or good or right.”
This comfort with vulnerability and authenticity isn’t just acting, for Erivo. In her interview addressing SHAPE’s themes for The Power Issue, she shared the different ways she feels powerful — from cutting off her hair, coming out as queer, running marathons, and of course, portraying powerful women on screen.
“Being powerful is every day finding what the most authentic version of yourself is that day and sticking with it, not allowing other people’s perception of who you are or what you are sway you,” she says. “How you feel about yourself — that’s powerful for me.”
Why she finally cut off all of her shoulder-length hair: “I remember saying to myself, I’d like to walk into a room and have people just see my face.”
“[My hairdresser] would only cut some of it. So I left with a haircut that I didn’t want,” Erivo says. “I allowed [my hairdresser’s] fears or something she was projecting onto me to affect how I made my decision.”
“My beauty doesn’t stem from how I do my hair,” she realized after she finally got the dramatic cut she wanted.
On coming out as queer in British Vogue last summer: “That felt like a really wonderful moment to let myself be completely who I am,” she says. “[Now] I’m not spending time pretending to be anything other than [myself], which means my brain and my body and everything is free to create the way I want to, and I’m not using any energy in the wrong way.”
The power of exercise and running marathons: “[Exercise] is the thing that keeps my brain working. Otherwise, I start flagging halfway through the day,” Erivo says, “I’d rather get up early, get a workout in, and be able to move through the day, then struggle halfway through the day because I haven’t taken the time to work for myself.”
“There is something about [the marathon], that’s not necessarily just physical. I love the fact that you have to engage with your brain, your mind, your heart, in order to keep going,” she says. “There’s just something about that 26.2 miles that forces you to be really in touch with yourself while you’re running.”
Her view on practicing self-care: “I think it is possible to be good to yourself in increments every single day, so that you’re not yearning for something by the end of the week or yearning for something at the end of the month,” she says. “That you are actually actively doing it every day, so that you never feel like you’re depleted, and you always feel like you’re whole.”
#RHOA: Hot or Not? Kenya Moore Is Red-Hot in a One-Piece Versace Swimsuit
Kenya Moore looks red-hot in her latest swim style. In her March 6 Instagram Stories, The Real Housewives of Atlanta cast member shared a look at her Versace swimsuit. The one-piece number is a scorching example of how to rock high design at the beach, so let’s take a closer look.
The $350 suit comes in pink, black, or red. But of course, Kenya opted for the fieriest hue. And why wouldn’t she? The haircare mogul has proved time and time again that she looks Gone with the Wind fabulous in red.
The tank swimsuit in Kenya’s recent post has a square neckline, a low-cut back, and thick straps decked with a Greca pattern. The piece is stunning on its own. But put it on a twirl queen like Kenya, and the suit turns into a moment.
The Atlanta mama styled her suit with long, tumbling curls and lashes for days. She also wore a long gold necklace and perfected a lounging pose that signaled “Here I am, living my best beach life.”
Let Kenya’s beach dispatch inspire your vision for the warm weather ahead. And if you’re thinking about planning a vacation, take this as your sign: It’s time to reserve your lounge chair.
This isn’t the only enviable piece of swimwear in Kenya’s collection. After all, Kenya doesn’t just go on the occasional beach getaway. She also has a gorgeous pool with a cabana-flecked deck at her home, aka “Moore Manor.”
Whether she’s at the pool or on the beach, Kenya has no shortage of swimwear options. In the past, she’s sported everything from a blue string bikini to a plunging nude one-piece that leaves her feeling like a “nudist.” We’d be remiss not to mention the time she matched her manicure and pedicure to a sexy white suit. And of course, Kenya is fully stocked up on teeny yellow bikinis and snakeskin monokinis.
Kenya seems to be passing her taste for exquisite swimwear down to her 4-year-old daughter. On Brooklyn Doris Daly’s Instagram feed, which Kenya runs, a March 6 video shows the little one on the beach, writing letters in the sand. In the video, Brooklyn couldn’t look any more adorable in a flamingo-print swimsuit and braids.
Brooklyn’s fashionista tendencies are nothing new. Kenya’s adorable daughter was quite the stylish beach bunny when she was only a few months old. We’ll never stop squealing over a 2019 snap of her in a ruffled pineapple-print swimsuit.

#HipHopNews: Drake & Lil Baby Are Working On A Joint Album, Says 'Honestly, Nevermind' Producer
Drake and Lil Baby may have a joint project on the horizon thanks to information leaked by Black Coffee, who has producer credits on Honestly, Nevermind.
During his appearance on Podcast And Chill With MacG earlier this week, the South African DJ seemingly revealed that Drizzy and Baby are cooking up a full-length project. The topic came up after Black Coffee brought up a conversation he was having with Coach K of Quality Control.
According to the DJ, he was told Drake is possibly retiring and will get one more album in with Lil Baby.
“He had said to me Lil Baby and Drake are making an album,” Coffee said in the clip. “It’s possible Drake is retiring.”
The news comes after Drake dropped a collaborative album with 21 Savage titled Her Loss. That album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and moved over 404,000 album-equivalent units in its first week, giving it the third-highest opening last year in music. Drake and 21 Savage had their 12th and third No. 1 album with Her Loss, respectively, and earned a total of 514 million on-demand streams.
If Drake and Lil Baby were to join forces on an album, they could expect to achieve the same results. Both rappers have developed quite the working relationship with each other appearing on tracks together such as “Yes Indeed,” “Wants and Needs,” “Never Recover,” “Girls Want Girls” and more.
Drake actually revealed Lil Baby was recording new music in his Toronto mansion last May. The 6 God was on his live stream with Stake when he revealed that Lil Baby had been working up a storm in The Embassy.
“By the way, my brother Lil Baby is in the studio right now. He’s cooking up. We’re working,” Drake stated, adding that he was going to stop the studio session to get Baby to gamble with him.
Lil Baby’s last project, It’s Only Me, debuted at No. 1 on the chart after earning roughly 216,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. Of that figure, 209,000 came from SEA (streaming equivalent albums) units, equating to 88.97 million on-demand song streams.
In comparison, Lil Baby’s last solo album My Turn debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in 2020 with roughly 197,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. It went on to top the chart for five weeks, becoming one of the best-performing albums that year.
Actor Robert Blake, known for 'Baretta,' 'In Cold Blood,' dies at 89
LOS ANGELES - Robert Blake, the Emmy award-winning performer who went from acclaim for his acting to notoriety when he was tried and acquitted in the killing of his wife, died Thursday at age 89.
A statement released on behalf of his niece, Noreen Austin, said Blake died from heart disease, surrounded by family at home in Los Angeles.
Blake, star of the 1970s TV show, "Baretta," had once hoped for a comeback, but he never recovered from the long ordeal which began with the shooting death of his wife, Bonny Lee Bakley, outside a Studio City restaurant on May 4, 2001. The story of their strange marriage, the child it produced and its violent end was a Hollywood tragedy played out in court.
Once hailed as among the finest actors of his generation, Blake became better known as the defendant in a real-life murder trial, a story more bizarre than any in which he acted.
In a 2002 interview with The Associated Press while he was jailed awaiting trial, he bemoaned the change in his status with his fans nationwide: "It hurt because America is the only family I had."
He was adamant that he had not killed his wife and a jury ultimately acquitted him. But a civil jury would find him liable for her death and order him to pay Bakley's family $30 million, a judgment which sent him into bankruptcy.
It was an ignominious finale for a life lived in the spotlight from childhood. As a youngster, he starred in the "Our Gang" comedies and acted in a movie classic, "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre." As an adult, he was praised for his portrayal of real-life murderer Perry Smith in the movie of Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood."
His career peaked with the 1975-78 TV cop series, "Baretta." He starred as a detective who carried a pet cockatoo on his shoulder and was fond of disguises. It was typical of his specialty, portraying tough guys with soft hearts, and its signature line: "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time," was often quoted.
Blake won a 1975 Emmy for his portrayal of Tony Baretta, although behind the scenes the show was wracked by disputes involving the temperamental star. He gained a reputation as one of Hollywood's finest actors, but one of the most difficult to work with.
In 1993, Blake won another Emmy as the title character in, "Judgment Day: the John List Story," portraying a soft-spoken, churchgoing man who murdered his wife and three children.
His personal saga was as dramatic as any of the characters he portrayed and later he admitted to having his own struggles with alcohol and drug addiction in his early life.
He was born Michael James Gubitosi on Sept. 18, 1933, in Nutley, New Jersey. His father, an Italian immigrant and his mother, an Italian American, wanted their three children to succeed in show business. At age 2, Blake was performing with a brother and sister in a family vaudeville act called, "The Three Little Hillbillies."
When his parents moved the family to Los Angeles, his mother found work for the kids as movie extras and little Mickey Gubitosi was plucked from the crowd by producers who cast him in the "Our Gang" comedies. He appeared in the series for five years and changed his name to Bobby Blake.
He went on to work with Hollywood legends, playing the young John Garfield in "Humoresque" in 1946 and the little boy who sells Humphrey Bogart a crucial lottery ticket in "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre."
In adulthood, he landed serious movie roles. The biggest breakthrough was in 1967 with "In Cold Blood." Later there were films including, "Tell Them Willie Boy is Here" and "Electra Glide in Blue."
In 1961, Blake and actress Sondra Kerr married and had two children, Noah and Delinah. They divorced in 1983.
His fateful meeting with Bakley came in 1999 at a jazz club where he went to escape loneliness.
"Here I was, 67 or 68 years old. My life was on hold. My career was stalled out," he said in the AP interview. "I'd been alone for a long time."
He said he had no reason to dislike Bakley: "She took me out of the stands and put me back in the arena. I had something to live for."
When Bakley gave birth to a baby girl, she named Christian Brando - son of Marlon - as the father. But DNA tests pointed to Blake.
Blake first saw the little girl, named Rosie, when she was two months old and she became the focus of his life. He married Bakley because of the child.
"Rosie is my blood. Rosie is calling to me," he said. "I have no doubt that Rosie and I are going to walk off into the sunset together."
Prosecutors would claim that he planned to kill Bakley to get sole custody of the baby and tried to hire hitmen for the job. But evidence was muddled and a jury rejected that theory.
On her last night alive, Blake and his 44-year-old wife dined at a neighborhood restaurant, Vitello's in the Studio City section of Los Angeles. He claimed she was shot when he left her in the car and returned to the restaurant to retrieve a handgun he had inadvertently left behind. Police were initially baffled and Blake was not arrested until a year after the crime occurred.
Once a wealthy man, he spent millions on his defense and wound up living on social security and a Screen Actor's Guild pension.
In a 2006 interview with the AP a year after his acquittal, Blake said he hoped to restart his career.
"I'd like to give my best performance," he said. "I'd like to leave a legacy for Rosie about who I am. I'm not ready for a dog and fishing pole yet. I'd like to go to bed each night desperate to wake up each morning and create some magic."
Legendary Coach Jim Boeheim replaced as Syracuse head coach by Adrian Autry after 47 seasons
Jim Boeheim worked his last game as Syracuse's head men's basketball coach on Wednesday.
Hours after a 77-74 loss to Wake Forest in the ACC tournament, Syracuse announced that Boeheim will be replaced by associate head coach Adrian Autry. Chancellor Kent Syverud addressed the transition in a statement.
"There is no doubt in my mind that without Jim Boeheim, Syracuse Basketball would not be the powerhouse program it is today," says Chancellor Kent Syverud. "Jim has invested and dedicated the majority of his life to building this program, cultivating generations of student-athletes and representing his alma mater with pride and distinction. I extend my deep appreciation and gratitude to an alumnus who epitomizes what it means to be 'Forever Orange.'"
Boeheim was not quoted in the Syracuse news release announcing the move. He was asked about his potential retirement after Wednesday's game and repeatedly told reporters that the decision is up to Syracuse.
"This is up to the university," Boeheim said when asked if he's retiring.
He was then asked if that means he wants to come back.
"I didn't say that," Boeheim responded.
"You're not saying you're retiring?" a reporter asked.
"I just said it, I don't know," Boeheim responded. " ... I said this is up to the university."
That didn't exactly clear things up. When pressed again at the end of the news conference, here's what Boeheim had to say:
"I said it's up to the university," Boeheim continued. "They have to make their decision, and it's up to them. I hope to come to a good agreement. That remains to be seen."
Boeheim is an icon at Syracuse, having coached the team for 47 years. It's a span that saw the Orange play the entirety of their Big East existence from 1979-2013 and 10 seasons since a landscape-shattering move to the ACC. It's a span that includes 35 NCAA tournament appearances, five Final Fours and the 2003 national championship featuring Carmelo Anthony.
Boeheim outlasted coaching rivals and titans of the game in John Thompson, Roy Williams and Mike Krzyzewski. He's 78 years old and was coming off his second straight season without an NCAA tournament bid and his third in the last four. He was asked about retirement for much of the season.
His 1,015 career wins rank second all-time in Division I basketball, behind only Krzyzewski's 1,202.
Boeheim went out in dramatic fashion. The Orange rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit only to watch senior Wake Forest guard Daivien Williamson win the game for the Demon Deacons with a last-second 3-pointer.
The loss ensured that Syracuse won't make a surprise run to an ACC tournament title, its only path this year to the NCAA tournament.
Who is Adrian Autry?
Autry, 51, played four seasons at Syracuse from 1990-94. After an overseas professional career as a player and a brief stint on the Virginia Tech sideline, Autry returned to Syracuse as an assistant coach in 2011. He was promoted to associate head coach in 2017 and will now take over as just the second head coach at his alma mater since 1976.

ESPN's Pete Thamel reports that Autry has long been the choice at Syracuse to succeed Boeheim and that the decision to promote him was not finalized until Wednesday.
Wendy Williams Looks Fit In New Photos After Fans Suspect She Suffers From Thyroid Eye Disease
Wendy Williams looks healthier than ever. The former daytime TV queen was seen looking fit and comfortable during a shopping spree in Beverly Hills after fans suspected she suffers from thyroid eye disease.
In photos surfacing online, the former "The Wendy Williams Show" host was seen wearing a pink Gucci T-shirt and a pair of Daisy Dukes as she went shopping in California over the weekend. To complete her look, she added black sheer tights under the shorts, white fuzzy boots and pink square-shaped sunglasses.
Wendy had her shoulder-length hair straight and down. For her makeup, she looked stunning with vibrant pink lipstick. She also carried a green purse and walked by cameras before apparently getting into a white vehicle.
Wendy's latest sighting came after she's seen walking outside her New York City apartment. At one point, however, she looked surprised or caught off guard, standing with her mouth agape and her eyes opened wide.
Upon learning of her photos, fans quickly expressed their concern, with many alleging that Wendy is suffering from "thyroid eye disease." One person commented, "Thyroid eye disease. Before even thinking about going back to work she needs to take care of herself, go to an endocrinologist and an ophthalmologist."
Another remarked, "She should get her Thyroid condition in check before she does anything else. It's obviously out of control." Someone else chimed in, "thyroid eye disease possibly." A separate social media user said, "The eye bulging is from Grave's disease. Once it happens, there is no fixing it. Wishing Wendy all the best."
The sighting arrived after it's reported that Wendy was filming a mystery project in NYC. Late last month, Page Six reported that the former radio personality filmed the so-called new project at Fresco by Scotto.
A few days later, Wendy herself revealed her desire to be on "The View", alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Seth Meyers, in a bizarre rant. "I'm shopping for kitty litter because I have a wax museum in Paris and one in California," she told a fan while she's at a pet shop last month. "I'm going for a week in Paris and then three weeks in California and then immediately fly back," she continued rambling on, "I want to be on TV, stuff like Seth Meyers, Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, 'The View'. Stuff like that."
Ja Morant To Miss Four More Games Despite Being Cleared Of Criminal Charges Over Gun-Waving Video
Ja Morant won't be back with the Memphis Grizzlies for at least another week. The Grizzlies has announced that the NBA player will miss four more games despite he's recently cleared of criminal charges over his gun-waving video.
The Grizzlies announced on Wednesday, March 8 that the 23-year-old basketballer "will continue to remain away from the team for at least the next four games." He was initially suspended two games by the team after going on Instagram Live early Saturday morning and flashing a gun while he was at a strip club Shotgun Willies in Colorado.
The Glendale (Co.) Police investigated the incident but announced earlier Wednesday that "there was not enough available evidence to charge anyone with a crime." Law enforcement confirmed the incident took place during "lawful operating hours."
"GPD was not able to determine that probable cause existed for the filing of any charges," the department said in a release. "In this case, it should be noted that on the night in question the GPD did not receive any calls for service at the nightclub regarding a weapon of any type."
"Subsequently, no disturbances were reported, and no citizens or patrons of the club came forward to make a complaint," the release continued. "The investigation also concluded that no one was threatened or menaced with the firearm and in fact no firearm was ever located."
In his statement, Morant stressed that he'll "take full responsibility for [his] actions." The star guard went on adding, "I'm sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down. I'm going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being."
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins said that there was "no definitive timeline" for Morant's return to the team. Though so, Jenkins noted Morant understands he's made "some difficult decisions and poor choices in the past."
"He's definitely embracing the mistakes that he's made, but only time will tell. We're going to support him and we're going to hold him accountable to make those changes," Jenkins told AP. "We love him, we want what's best for him, we support him. It's going to be a difficult process but we've got a great group to get through this."
Chris Rock Hints At Lake Bell Split In His Netflix Special: 'I'm Single'
Chris Rock and Lake Bell may have called it quits. The stand-up comedian hinted at his split from the "No Escape" star in his Netflix special "Chris Rock: Selective Outrage", saying that he's currently "single."
"I'm single. I've been single for a long time. I was married for a long time," the 58-year-old comic said. "I was dating somebody for a while. Now I'm single."
Though things seemingly don't look good in his love life, Rock managed to see the positive side. "My life is good. I cannot complain. I've got some bulls**t going on, but it's going good," he stated.
The "Saturday Night Live" alum went on to note, "I'm trying to date. I want a real relationship. I want a Sunday kind of love." He then quipped, "On the other hand I'm just a h*e. Like, ladies, I will lick your a** and I never call you again. But if we hold hands, you're my girl."
Rock and Bell sparked romance rumors in June 2022 after they were spotted together for the first time at a St. Louis Cardinals game. They continued to fuel the dating speculations over the 4th of July weekend when they were photographed having a fancy dinner at Giorgio Baldi restaurant in Santa Monica, California. One day later, the couple was again spotted in Santa Monica.
Later that month, Rock and Bell had a summer holiday together in Croatia. On July 17, the pair were photographed holding hands while walking through the city of Dubrovnik. The "No Strings Attached" actress even put her arm around the funnyman while talking on the phone in the middle of the plaza. Later that day, the twosome took a romantic boat ride.
Then on July 20, Rock was spotted cozying up to bikini-clad Bell on a luxury yacht. They were joined by their pals, such as Sacha Baron Cohen, Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson and his wife Laura Louie, David Spade, Lars Ulrich and wife Jessica Miller as well as Sean "P. Diddy Combs.
Tiger Woods’s ex-girlfriend wants NDA nullified amid couple’s breakup
Tiger Woods’s former live-in girlfriend has asked a Florida judge to release her from a nondisclosure agreement she signed with the golf star in an escalating court dispute that started when he barred her from his home last fall.
Woods’s lawyers have claimed in court that Erica Herman, whom he dated for six years, is not allowed to sue him because of the NDA, which requires them to settle all disputes in confidential arbitration.
In a complaint filed Monday, Herman said the NDA is unenforceable because of a federal law stating that alleged victims of sexual assault and sexual harassment cannot be barred from filing lawsuits.
Herman’s complaint, first reported by TMZ, did not elaborate on whether she has made, or would make, such allegations against Woods. Her attorney, Benjamin T. Hodas, did not respond Wednesday to a message seeking comment.
Woods’s agent, Mark Steinberg, did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment. The attorney representing Woods in one of the lawsuits, J.B. Murray, said he was “not at liberty to make any comment.”
The court fight, which began quietly as an apparent landlord-tenant dispute in which Herman sued a trust without naming its famous owner, sheds extraordinary light on the sort of secretive agreements struck by rich and powerful men in their personal dealings.
And for Woods, years removed from scandals involving serial cheating and driving under the influence of prescription drugs, the litigation has the potential to bring unwanted scrutiny back on his private life.
In October, Herman sued Jupiter Island Irrevocable Homestead Trust, which is controlled by Woods, in circuit civil court in Martin County, Fla. In that lawsuit, Herman — apparently referencing her relationship with Woods — referred to “duties that were performed by, and expected of, [Herman] were extensive and of an extraordinary nature in light of the overall circumstances and environment in which she lived.”
Herman alleged that “agents” of the trust convinced her to “pack a suitcase for a short vacation, and, when she arrived at the airport, told her she had been locked out of her residence.”
Martin said that the trust’s agents “utilized a lawyer to confront her with proposals to resolve the wrongdoing they were in the midst of committing” and refused to allow her back into the home. She claimed that the agents removed her belongings from the house and “misappropriated in excess of $40,000 in cash that belonged to her, making scurrilous and defamatory allegations about how she obtained the money.”
The complaint, which was not reported in the media at the time, did not name Woods. But in a filing in response in December, lawyers representing Woods said that the golfer lived in the home with his children, and argued that her complaint was invalid because of an NDA mandating that their disputes be handled confidentially.
Woods’s lawyers disclosed that they were already in an arbitration dispute, with multiple potential witnesses, over Herman’s eviction claims. They argued that because her claims “arise from the breakup of her relationship with Mr. Woods,” she was in violation of the NDA by filing a suit in a public forum.
That court filing included a mostly redacted copy of the NDA, signed by both Woods and Herman.
Herman has been a fixture in Woods’s public life amid his comeback from multiple injuries in recent years, including a 2021 single-car crash near Los Angeles that left him with multiple fractures in his right leg and threatened to end his golf career.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Children Are Officially Going by Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have seemingly confirmed their children will be using their "Prince" and "Princess" titles.
When Prince Harry's father, King Charles, became king, Archie and Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor immediately became Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet as grandchildren of the reigning monarch, following the 1917 Letters Patent. That patent said the "HRH" designation would be given to the children of the sovereign, grandchildren in the male line, and the eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales.
However, there was much debate over whether or not Harry and Meghan would use the "Prince" and "Princess" titles for their children, and when Charles ascended to the throne, their children remained sans the titles on the royal family's website.
Yet today, when a Sussex spokesperson confirmed their daughter's christening, they said, "I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor," which indicates Meghan and Harry are now using "Prince" and "Princess" for their children. T&C understands that the royal family's website will be updated to reflect this change in due course.
In Meghan's sit-down interview with Oprah, she said that she and Harry never chose to forgo a title for Archie. "They were saying they didn't want him to be a Prince or Princess, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn't going to receive security," Meghan said. "This went on for the last few months of our pregnancy where I was going, hold on for a second."
She continued, "They said [he's not going to get security], because he's not going to be a Prince. Okay, well, he needs to be safe so we're not saying don't make him a Prince or Princess, but if you're saying the title is what's going to affect that protection, we haven't created this monster machine around us in terms of clickbait and tabloid fodder you've allowed that to happen which means our son needs to be safe."
Meghan told Oprah that if giving him a title "meant he was going to be safe," she wanted him to have one.
TSA agents seize gun from actor Mike Epps in Indianapolis
Transportation Security Administration officers discovered the Smith & Wesson .38-caliber pistol Sunday morning inside Epps’ backpack, airport police said. Epps, 52, told agents at the TSA checkpoint that he forgot he had the weapon in his bag.
Agents seized the weapon but did not arrest Epps. Airport officials did not say where Epps was flying to or if he was travelling alone. The TSA forwarded the case to the Marion County prosecutor’s office to consider if charges are necessary.
Spokesman Michael Leffler said Wednesday that the prosecutor’s office is reviewing the case.
“These matters rarely result in criminal charges,” Leffler said.
“I think it is important to note that the burden of proof required by statute and case law requires you to prove whether an individual knowingly or intentionally brought the firearm,” he added. “Generally speaking, the most common circumstance is that firearms located by TSA or airport police are unintentionally left in bags.”
The Associated Press sent an email seeking comment from an Epps representative Wednesday.
Epps, an Indianapolis native, has starred in movies including “The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2,” “Next Friday” and “Friday After Next.” He appears in the upcoming Marvel movie “Madame Web” starring Dakota Johnson, and the Apple TV+ series “Lady in the Lake” starring Natalie Portman.
Last year, the Transportation Security Administration seized a record 6,542 guns at airports around the country. Most people who are stopped for having a gun at an airport checkpoint say they forgot they had the weapon with them.
DOJ reveals Louisville Metro Police called Black people monkeys in Breonna Taylor's case findings
Nearly three years after 26-year-old Breonna Taylor was shot and killed by Louisville police while asleep in her apartment, the Department of Justice has revealed shocking information about those involved. Today (March 8), the DOJ released a report that stated the Louisville Metro Police Department frequently used “an aggressive style of policing” against Black people and vulnerable individuals throughout the city, according to CNN.
“LMPD cites people for minor offenses, like wide turns and broken taillights, while serious crimes like sexual assault and homicide go unsolved,” the report mentioned. “Some officers demonstrate disrespect for the people they are sworn to protect. Some officers have videotaped themselves throwing drinks at pedestrians from their cars; insulted people with disabilities; and called Black people ‘monkeys,’ ‘animal,’ and ‘boy.'”
During their investigation, the DOJ found that along with using senseless tactics such as “unjustified neck restraints, police dogs and tasers,” Louisville law enforcement also executed search warrants without proper protocol. “This conduct is unacceptable,” Merrick Garland, attorney general, said at a Wednesday news conference. “It is heartbreaking. It erodes the community trust necessary for effective policing. It is an [insult] to the vast majority of officers who put their lives on the line [daily] to serve Louisville with honor. And it is an [insult] to the people of Louisville who deserve better.”
The DOJ‘s investigation was launched after a failed raid resulted in Taylor’s death. On the night of March 13, 2020, officers forced their way into Taylor’s apartment, believing that her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, who was at the center of a drug investigation, was using Taylor’s place to receive packages. Walker mistook their entry as a home invasion and fired shots at police. Louisville police returned fire, fatally shooting Taylor. “But Louisville Metro’s and LMPD’s unlawful conduct did not start in 2020,” the report continued. “As an LMPD leader told us shortly after we opened this investigation, ‘Breonna Taylor was a symptom of problems that we have had for years.'”
In August 2022, two years after the horrific ordeal, former cop Kelly Hanna Goodlett admitted to falsifying records that led to the 26-year-old’s passing. She and three other officers were arrested by the FBI and charged with violating Taylor’s civil rights by submitting a false affidavit to search her home. March of that year, ex-Louisville policeman Brett Hankison, one of the three cops who fired shots into the aspiring nurse’s apartment, was found not guilty on three counts of wanton endangerment for shooting in her home and possibly endangering her neighbors. In December 2022, Taylor’s boyfriend, Walker, was awarded a $2 million settlement from two lawsuits he filed against the city of Louisville for the careless raid. “He will live with the effects of being put in harm’s way due to a falsified warrant, being a victim of a hailstorm of gunfire, and suffering the unimaginable and horrific death of Breonna Taylor,” Steve Romines, one of his attorneys, said.
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson has Miami street-naming ceremony in her honor
Ketanji Brown Jackson is celebrating Women’s History Month a little differently this year. On Monday (March 6), the Supreme Court Justice was honored with a street in her name where she was raised in Miami.
“I hope that this street naming will also serve as a testament to what is possible in this great country. I hope that people who are driving by might have a moment of reflection about what it means that a person from this neighborhood and someone from my background could take what this place has to offer, and be well-equipped enough to then go out into the world, and do what it takes to not only become the first Black woman to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States — but also the first former public defender — and the first associate justice who is from the great state of Florida,” Jackson said during Monday’s ceremony.
Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins of the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners was happy to present Jackson with the highly regarded achievement. “As a mother, lawyer, public servant and woman of color, the Justice is an inspiration, to say the very least. It is my absolute honor to recognize the Justice and to do so during Women’s History Month,” Higgins shared. She continued, “It is not just her accomplishments, it is also her character. While most of us will never near any of her accomplishments, many of us can certainly relate to her story.” Jackson’s loved ones, including her parents, were present for the well-deserved moment. According to Higgins, they “taught the importance of education and hard work but also to love your country even when your country did not love you back.”
Miami attorney Stephen Rosenthal grew up with the politician and spoke in favor of her at Monday’s event. “There will be a connection right here, across centuries of American history, when people drive on Harriet Tubman Highway to get to Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Street,” he told the audience. Her new honor is located on Eureka Drive or Southwest 184th Street between Caribbean Drive and Old Cutler Road in Cutler Bay. Jackson grew up in Cutler Bay and is a Miami Palmetto Senior High School graduate. After leaving Miami, she became a Harvard Law alum.

Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny Were Just Photographed Kissing
For weeks, rumors have swirled around Kendall Jenner and Bad Bunny's burgeoning romance. And now, new paparazzi photos seem to confirm them.
In photos taken on Tuesday night and published by TMZ, the model and rapper can be seen sharing an affectionate kiss in a parking lot. The two had embarked on a night out with friends at sushi restaurant in West Hollywood, according to TMZ.
Celebrity gossip Instagram account DeuxMoi kickstarted the dating rumors when they published an anonymous submission back in mid-February that claimed, "This single, famous model sister was seen playing tonsil hockey with Bad Bunny at a private L.A. club last night." DeuxMoi later added, "So I'm revealing it was kendall jenner and Bad Bunny, I have witnesses on the scene who saw her in the club."
Later that same month, the public speculated that the two had gone on a double date with Hailey and Justin Bieber when the foursome were spotted leaving the same Beverly Hills restaurant, according to photos published by TMZ.
A source for People later said that the rumored couple was "spending time together."
Another insider told the outlet, "Kendall recently started hanging out with him. They were introduced by friends. He moved to L.A. a few weeks ago and bought a house."
The source continued, "She likes him and is having fun. He is different from guys that she dated in the past. He is very charming."
Jenner previously dated NBA player Devin Booker for two years before they ultimately broke up in October 2022. Meanwhile, Bad Bunny is known to have dated jewelry designer Gabriela Berlingeri.
Lady Gaga Will Not Perform at the Oscars Due to 'Joker' Sequel Scheduling Conflict
Lady Gaga will not take perform her nominated song "Hold My Hand" come Oscar Sunday.
The "Stupid Love" singer, 36, was invited to the 95th Academy Awards, but had to turn down the offer due to scheduling conflicts with the Joker sequel Folie Γ Deux, Oscars producer Glenn Weiss said Wednesday during the Oscars Creative Team press conference.
"We have great relationships with Lady Gaga and her camp [but] she's in the middle of shooting a movie right now, and here we are honoring the movie industry and what it takes to make a movie," Weiss said. "After a bunch of back and forth, it didn't feel like she can get a performance to the caliber that we're used to with her, that she's used to and all that stuff."
Weiss continued: "So she is not going to perform on the show, however, this is all, from our point of view, about someone making a movie and us completely understanding that that's what is priority in this business, especially when we are honoring movies."
Aside from Gaga, whose nominated song was featured in Top Gun: Maverick, all of this year's nominees for Best Original Song have been confirmed to perform at the ceremony.
She last performed at the 2019 Oscars, where her song "Shallow" from A Star Is Born won Best Original Song. She was also nominated that year for Best Actress, and also received a Best Original Song nod in 2016 for "Til It Happens to You" from The Hunting Ground.
All nominated songs are typically performed during the ceremony each year. This year's nominations include Rihanna's "Lift Me Up," Sofia Carson and Diane Warren's "Applause," Stephanie Hsu, David Byrne and Son Lux's "This Is Life" and Rahul Sipligunj and Kaala Bhairava's "Naatu Naatu."
During an interview in May of last year, Top Gun: Maverick star Tom Cruise sang Gaga's praises for her work in the film.
According to Cruise, 60, the "incredible" Gaga is "not just on the soundtrack" of the movie, a follow-up to 1986's Top Gun, but "helped compose the score."
Cruise explained that Gaga presented her song to him and Hans Zimmer, who also composed the music for the film, after they were struggling with finding the right fit.
"It just opened up the whole movie. She's amazing," he told James Corden. "It just opened those doors to the emotional core of the film that we had ... in that moment, things just came together in such a beautiful way. Her song that she'd written just fell right in and became, really, the underlying score and the heartbeat of our film."
She released the song days before and encouraged listeners to have "faith in humanity" in an Instagram post.
"I wanted to say that I wrote the song for the INCREDIBLE movie #topgun#topgunmaverick but also for people who feel like they're not gonna be ok or WE ARE never gonna be ok and that life taught me through hard times to have faith in humanity when it's hard to have faith in yourself," Gaga wrote alongside a selfie.
"When you feel lonely, sad, removed from the world, far away from yourself and others #holdmyhand One day you may even be strong enough to hold your own π€," continued the caption. "I love you with my whole heart for all the years I've been blessed to sing, write songs, produce and perform for you. Thank you π here we go!!! π€✈️"
The "Alejandro" singer is currently filming for the upcoming musical sequel to 2019's Joker, titled Joker: Folie Γ Deux with Joaquin Phoenix. She is set to play Harley Quinn.
RuPaul Responds to Anti-Drag Bills: ‘Drag Queens Are the Marines of the Queer Movement’
“Hey, look over there! A classic distraction technique, distracting us away from the real issues that they were voted into office to focus on: jobs, healthcare, keeping our children safe from harm at their own school,” RuPaul said. “But we know that bullies are incompetent at solving real issues. They look for easy targets so they can give the impression of being effective. They think our love, our light, our laughter and our joy are signs of weakness. But they’re wrong because that is our strength.”
RuPaul continued, “Drag queens are the Marines of the queer movement. Don’t get it twisted and don’t be distracted. Register to vote so we can get these stunt queens out of office and put some smart people with real solutions into government. And by the way, a social media post has never been as powerful as a registered vote.”
The response comes as many conservative legislators around the country attempt to ban children from drag performances, bar drag shows from occurring in public places and brand them as adult-oriented businesses. Tennessee, Kentucky and Montana are three of the states moving forward with bills banning public drag performances.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee signed into law a bill that goes into effect on July 1 that bans gender-affirming health care for minors. He also signed a bill limiting drag show performances in Tennessee. While it doesn’t implicitly say the word “drag,” the bill forbids drag performances by male or female impersonators who, as the law defines it, provide entertainment that is “harmful to minors.”
The attacks don’t stop there. At least 11 state legislatures are threatening to restrict or prohibit drag show performances as the GOP continues to ramp up efforts to spread the narrative that drag queens are predators.
“RuPaul’s Drag Race” Season 14 contestant Kerri Colby is just one of the many queens speaking out about the hate coming from the GOP. In an essay for Variety, Colby wrote, “It has been extremely distressing to see the political attacks recently, not just on the LGBTQ community, but also specifically on the art of drag.” She said, “Bills like these create more stigma, discrimination and ultimately violence against LGBTQ folks — particularly transgender and nonbinary people.”
In a video for GLAAD, Jackie Cox and Sasha Colby were joined by other queens from the series speaking out as part of efforts to spread positivity. Cox, a Season 12 contestant said, “We’re going to keep fighting this fight. So stay strong, especially if you’re in one of those states where all these things are happening. I’m here to tell you that you can still do drag, you can still be your true self, whatever that is. Showcase your art, showcase your gender. Even as you’re seeing the negative things even as all the hate happens, you have to shine that light shining bright for yourself.”
Powerball Winner Buys $25.5 Million Hollywood Home Near Ariana Grande, Jimmy Kimmel
The winner of California’s record-breaking lottery prize has purchased a luxurious home in the same Hollywood Hills neighborhood as Jimmy Kimmel and Ariana Grande.
TMZ reports Edwin Castro, who won the $2.04 billion Powerball lottery ticket at a Mobil gas station in the Los Angeles suburb of Altadena, bought a 13,578-square-foot house. The purchase comes just a month after Castro scored a $997.6 million lump sum before taxes. His new neighbors include Kimmel, Grande, and Dakota Johnson.
The three-story mansion features an infinity pool, full outdoor kitchen, gym, wine cellar, movie theater, and sauna. It also includes two separate garages big enough to fit seven cars, as well as a motor court in front of the home that can fit several more vehicles.
Back in February, another California man filed a lawsuit against Castro, saying he should be let in on the prize money. Jose Rivera alleges the winning ticket was swiped from him. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Rivera claims he purchased the Powerball ticket on Nov. 7 from Joe’s Service Center in Altadena, California.
He subsequently accused a man named “Reggie” of stealing it later that day. After allegedly attempting to retrieve the winning ticket, Rivera said he was told the ticket had losing numbers. Rivera then notified the California Lottery and local authorities of the theft, saying he wouldn’t be “blackmailed.”
Despite Rivera’s claims, the California lottery appears to have taken Castro’s side.
“The California Lottery is not authorized to investigate criminal activity among its players; such allegations are subject to investigation only by local law enforcement,” a lottery spokesperson told TMZ at the time. “Should a local law enforcement agency investigate such allegations, Lottery’s only role is to assist in the matter by answering questions and/or providing evidence as allowed under the law.”
The spokesperson added, “Further, when it comes to the vetting process for big winners, California Lottery has the utmost confidence in its process for doing so. California Lottery remains confident that Edwin Castro is the rightful winner of the $2.04 billion prize stemming from the Powerball drawing in November of 2022.”
Toni Morrison Honored with U.S. Postal Service Forever Stamp
*Bestselling author Toni Morrison, who died in 2019 at the age of 88, has been honored with a U.S. Postal Service Forever stamp.
Family, friends, fans of the beloved scholar gathered at Princeton’s Richardson Auditorium in Alexander Hall on March 7 to celebrate the Toni Morrison Commemorative Forever stamp.
The stamp dedication ceremony included a video message from Oprah Winfrey and a letter from former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama that was read by Ruha Benjamin, professor of African American studies, per a news release from Princeton University.
“We’re honored to join Toni Morrison’s family and everyone gathered here in celebrating one of the world’s greatest storytellers,” the Obamas wrote in their letter. “Toni told fundamental truths about our country and the human condition. But she didn’t just reflect what was true. She helped generations of Black Americans reimagine what was possible. That’s why we return to her stories again and again, finding new meaning each time.”
In her video tribute, Winfrey said “Toni Morrison’s books are in so many of our homes and abide in our hearts because she served as a catalyst for generations of readers over the years to understand the power of reading and words.”
According to the news release, Morrison was the most featured author in Oprah’s Book Club.
“Throughout her life, she was a transformative presence who inspired those around her, and Princeton continues to reflect the remarkable effects of her legacy,” said University President Christopher L. Eisgruber in his opening remarks at the ceremony.
Per the school’s news release: “Morrison joined the Princeton faculty in 1989 as the Robert F. Goheen Professor in the Humanities at Princeton and was a member of the University’s creative writing program until she transferred to emeritus status in 2006.”
Morrison was chosen as a subject for a Forever stamp as someone who has “made extraordinary and enduring contributions to American society,” according to a spokesperson for the U.S. Postal Service.
“One of the goals of our stamp program is to raise awareness and celebrate the people who represent the very best of our nation,” said Pritha Mehra, USPS chief information officer and executive vice president. “It’s a privilege to represent the 650,000 men and women of the Postal Service, as we honor Toni Morrison with one more tribute — our new stamp that will be seen by millions and forever remind us of the power of her words and the ideas she brought to the world.”
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ Pilot Program Announces 24/7 Chat and Text Services
The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s LGBTQ+ pilot program will now be providing text and chat services 24/7.
“We are thrilled that the 988 Lifeline LGBTQ+ pilot line will be expanding services across all modalities,” said Dr. Tia Dole, the chief lifeline officer at Vibrant Emotional Health. “We know that LGBTQIA youth is one of the most at-risk communities for suicide. Vibrant, SAMHSA, and 988 want to be there to change that through affirming care.”
She explained, “Expanding this service is a major step forward in strengthening 988, the mental health safety net for all people in America.”
Following an initial $7.2 million investment from the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, lifeline’s LGBTQ-specific pilot program launched in September (SAMHSA).
With phone services available 24/7, users can dial 3 and speak with a crisis counselor trained to support LGBTQ children and young adults.
Initially, the chat and text services were only available during select hours.
In the nine months since the program began in September through Feb. 26 (the most recent available data), about 11% of chats and texts and 6% of calls came from the LGBTQ line.
“We want all young people who are experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis or who are feeling suicidal to know they can call, text or chat 988 any time of day without fear of judgment and with the expectation that when they do reach out for help, they are met with affirming compassionate support,” said Dr. Miriam Delphin-Rittmon, the head of SAMHSA. “So far, the demand for the services provided by this pilot program has exceeded even our own expectations. This response has shown us the value in providing a specialized service for LGBTQI+ young people, who we know are at higher risk for suicide.”
According to the CDC’s Youth Risk Behavior Survey trends report for 2011–2021, over 20% of LGBQ students attempted suicide, and about 45% of LGBQ students had significant thoughts of suicide in that year.
According to the CDC data, that figure contrasts with the 15% of heterosexual students who had severe thoughts of suicide and the 6% who had attempted it during that same year.
The Trevor Project’s Kasey Suffredini said that the expansion of chat and text offerings is something his organization is “incredibly excited about.”
“Increasing access to LGBTQ-inclusive crisis care services is critical for addressing the public health crisis of youth suicide, as we know LGBTQ youth continue to face unique challenges, victimization, and barriers to care across all 50 states,” he said.
“When an LGBTQ young person reaches out for help in a moment of crisis — where every second counts — it’s vital that they are met with compassion and care from a trained counselor who understands them,” Suffredini said. “This expansion of services is another step forward in reimagining crisis care in the U.S., as we continue the collective work to raise awareness of the 988 Lifeline among the most marginalized communities and build upon its infrastructure to expand access to non-police crisis intervention responses and long-term mental health, behavioral health and addiction care.”
Lauren Boebert Just Announced Her 17-Year-Old Son Is Making Her a 36-Year-Old Grandmother Next Month
Congratulations, I guess? Up until about the 20th Century, it was fairly normal to have 36-year-old grandmothers. Sex outside of marriage was not even in the question (talking young people) because a town would go freaking nuts if the teens were having children with no family and no “definite” father. Teens would go freaking nuts without sex. And so young marriages, where the “woman” best be in top physical shape as far as evolution goes, and there you have it. Grandmothers at 36 are inevitable and extremely valuable since they might well be pregnant themselves.
Since then, and especially nowadays, I’m sorry, a grandmother at 36 has some irresponsibility twice over. First, it’s not exactly hard to prevent. Indeed there are about five different means even if abortion isn’t an option. (And it isn’t for some people, and that is their right, their body, their choice, both ways). So, that would mean two generations of irresponsibility leading to what?
Well, Boebert dropped out of high school. We at this site have never once given her sh*t about that. Once she has a baby, she must care for it, and high school became a luxury she couldn’t afford. Luckily, she is very pretty, and most men would find her very attractive (Not liberals, but that leaves plenty). As everyone knows, attractive women get breaks that an “average” girl/woman would not. It’s likely that she had some decent-paying jobs along the way despite her and her husband having sketchy records, to say the least.
Now, you would think that a responsible mother would impress upon her children the number of doors that close with promiscuous and young sex leading to pregnancy. Mistakes happen. But that’s why many double up on those safety “measures” that take pregnancy out of the question. There is also date rape, something us girldads are acutely aware of and have had a discussion about birth control even with a non-promiscuous child.
Lauren doesn’t seem the least bit bothered by the fact that her 17-year-old son (Who technically committed a crime if the girl is under 18, is about to be a dad. More importantly, though her son may not have closed the door to college completely, it sure isn’t open as it was before. And medical school? Law school? Masters in education? Those seem a long, long way off, if not impossible.
But Boebert doesn’t seem bothered, and neither do her fans. “White babies” is part of the Republican platform, and if one is going to have seven or eight, maybe it’s best to start… in the second year of your orthopedic surgery rotation with a wife who is 24-26… I don’t know. I know Boebert doesn’t get it:
Yeah. Like, “How the fck did I give birth to a son who ignored everything I did wrong and went head first (wrong analogy) right into… (damn it, did it again) and get in the same position… (Jesus, you can’t even write about this stuff.) I give up!
Congratulations, Lauren. I’m sure your son will grow up to be a United States Senator, legalizing shoulder-fired stinger missiles in case someone’s drone gets too close to his 16-year-old son and girlfriend in the pool. Go for it, Lauren! A great-grandmother at age 52, latest.
