From Jeremy Pope: On training for The Inspection: “I wanted to act my way through boot camp, but you can’t act your way through push-ups; you have to do them. Doing Broadway theater is like the boot camp of acting because you’re doing eight shows a week. But for The Inspection, I had to do the formations and work with a gun—just all the things I don’t do in my normal life.’”

#RHOA: NeNe Leakes’ Son Brentt Shows Off 100-Lb Weight Loss Transformation Months After Suffering Stroke: Before and After Pics
Making big changes! NeNe Leakes' son Brentt Leakes is prioritizing his health after suffering a stroke and heart attack at age 23.
"Focus on you until The focus is you. #100poundsdown," Brentt captioned an Instagram slideshow on Monday, January 16, putting his slim figure on display.
In the carousel of pics, the Atlanta resident posed in a red tracksuit and white T-shirt. He wore a white sweatband and accessorized with a black crossbody bag.
"Auntie nephew looking 🔥🔥🔥🔥," Real Housewives of Atlanta's Marlo Hampton wrote in the comments.
Brentt's transformation comes less than six months after he was hospitalized in October 2022. His mother, 55, confirmed the "scary" medical emergencies via her Instagram Story at the time.
"Two weeks ago today, Brentt had congestive heart failure and a stroke," the Glee alum explained in a video. "He's only 23. He's really young for something like that to happen to him."
The former Bravo star noted that her son, whom she shared with late husband Gregg Leakes, "doesn't drink or do drugs." While recovering at the hospital, doctors wondered whether COVID-19 may have been a factor in Brentt's health scare, but he didn't recall contracting the illness.
"They have run a number of tests on him. We are still trying to figure out [the cause]. It was very scary," NeNe continued. "I don't even want to go into details of what happened. Obviously, a stroke is a very serious thing."
Despite the frightening scenario, NeNe told fans that her son was "in good spirits." He left the hospital in November 2022.
"Yay! You're walking out," the Celebrity Apprentice alum gushed in a clip uploaded via her Instagram Story as Brentt prepared to head home. "I'm so happy for you!"
NeNe added: "Two months later, Brentt is walking out. Hallelujah! Home just in time for the holidays."
Nearly one year before her son's hospitalization, the season 18 Dancing With the Stars contestant's husband died at age 66. Gregg lost his lengthy battle with stage III colon cancer in September 2021.
"Today the Leakes family is in deep pain with a broken heart. After a long battle with cancer, Gregg Leakes has passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by all of his children, very close loved ones and wife Nene Leakes," NeNe's publicist said in a statement to Us Weekly at the time. "We ask that you pray for peace and strength over their family & allow them to mourn in private during this very very difficult time."
Along with Brentt, the Linnethia Lounge owner is the mother of son Bryson Rashard Bryant from a previous relationship. As she coped with her family's loss, NeNe sparked a romance with fashion designer Nyonisela Sioh in late 2021.
#MusicNews: Usher To Present 2023 Lovers & Friends Fest With Performances By Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey & Many More
After kicking off its inaugural music festival last year, Lovers & Friends Fest is coming back bigger and deffer in 2023. Lovers & Friends will once again take place in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds on Saturday, May 6th with an epic lineup of over 50 R&B, hip-hop, pop and reggae artists scheduled to appear.
Returning headliner Usher will not only be back to perform at the event but, in addition to his duties for his Usher: My Way The Las Vegas Residency, he’s taken over the reins as the presenter of the massive one-day festival. Ursh will be joined by a who’s who of superstars, singers, rappers, nostalgic faves from the ‘90s through the early-2000s and even a one-hit wonder or two.

Leading the pack are Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey and Christina Aguilera who will bring their respective arsenals of hits and exciting live shows to the stage. R&B will be well represented by solo acts Chris Brown, Miguel, Summer Walker, Jhené Aiko, PARTYNEXTDOOR, Bryson Tiller, Omarion, Ginuwine, JoJo, Lil Mo, Lumidee and Frankie J and groups Boyz II Men, En Vogue, Blackstreet, Jagged Edge, Next and Vegas natives 702.
There’ll be a lot of singing happening at the 2023 Lovers & Friends Fest, but a slew of rappers are coming through, too. Bringing their various styles of hip-hop to the festival’s multiple stages will be Pitbull, 50 Cent, Nelly, Busta Rhymes, Flo Rida, Master P & The No Limit Soldiers, Remy Ma, Bow Wow, Lil Kim, Eve, T.I., Soulja Boy, Da Brat, The Diplomat, N.O.R.E., Chingy, Petey Pablo, Mannie Fresh, Dem Franchise Boyz, Yung Joc and Baby Bash.
Rounding things out and bringing some island spice to the festivities will be dancehall reggae artists Sean Paul, Shaggy, Beenie Man, Wayne Wonder and Kevin Lyttle.
With such a stacked lineup, Usher taking on a larger role and new promoters C3 in the mix, the 2023 edition of Lovers & Friends Fest will be something to behold. Tory Lanez went into appeal in Megan Thee Stallion's shooting case with the defense attorney, Jose Baez, famous for representing high-profile cases.
As per Hollywood Unlocked, the PlayBoy rapper also hired lawyers David Kenner and Matthew Barhoma in the shooting case.
According to The Baez law firm, where he works as the Chief Executive Officer, "Jose A. Baez is an experienced trial lawyer who has represented clients in the full range of criminal and civil cases."
The 52-year-old represented several celebrities, including football player Aaron Hernandez in the murder case of Odin Lloyd and Case Anthony in the murder of a two-year-old child Caylee Anthony.
Moreover, Baez boasted an impressive career. He was named 'Lawyer of the Year for 2011' by LawyersUSA magazine. Besides, he also earned one of the 'Top 100 Trial Lawyers' consecutively for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 by the National Trial Lawyers Association.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old faced 22 years in jail. The rapper overhauling his legal team for the appeal led to sentencing pushed to February 28th.

Oh? Smokey Robinson Says He Had Affair with Diana Ross While He Was Married
Motown legend Smokey Robinson claims to have had an extramarital affair with songstress Diana Ross. Robinson revealed the news during an appearance on “Vlad TV” on Monday, Jan. 16.
After discussing his childhood singing group that he began at the age of 11, the Five Chimes, Robinson spoke about his relationship with Ross. The “Just To See Her” singer said he first met Ross as a 12-year-old boy. Ross lived four doors down from Robinson but eventually moved away to the Brewster projects. He noted that she called him once she formed her own singing group in an attempt to get signed with Motown Records.
“After we started [at] Motown, she called me one day and she said, ‘Smoke, I got this group, you know, and uh, I want you to hear us so you can sign us up at Motown,” he said. “So I said, okay.’ I didn’t know she was a singer until then.”

After DJ Vlad noted that Ross revealed in her book that she and Robinson had once dated, Robinson confirmed the two had dated while he was married.
“Well, it lasted, uh, probably longer than it should ’cause I was married at the time,” he recalled. “Yeah, that happened later. After I got married. You know, after I got signed up at Motown, that’s when that started.”
The 82-year-old was married to his first wife, Claudette Rogers Robinson, who was a member of his group, The Miracles, at the time. The two were married in 1959 and had two children before divorcing in 1986 after Smokey had a child out of wedlock with another woman. Robinson has been married twice and is currently married to 52-year-old Frances Glandney. The pair have been married since 2002.
Meanwhile, Diana Ross has been married twice and has five adult children. She married her first husband, Robert Ellis Silberstein, in 1971 and divorced in 1977. She later married Norweigan businessman Arne Naess in 1986 before the two divorced in 2000.
Regardless, Robinson and Ross have remained friends, and he even wished the “Endless Love” singer happy birthday on Twitter back in 2018. He wrote, “Happy Birthday to my baby, Ms.@DianaRoss the BOSS!”
Barack Obama says wife Michelle Obama makes "every day brighter" in sweet birthday post
Former President Barack Obama used social media to praise his wife, Former First Lady Michelle Obama, today (Jan. 17). “Happy birthday, @MichelleObama. You make every day brighter — and somehow keep looking better!” he said of his Capricorn lover.
Barack posted a photo of the loving couple embracing one another as they gazed at a sunset. The sweet moment was shared on both Instagram and Twitter. In October, the two celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. “Happy anniversary to the man I love! These last 30 years have been an adventure, and I’m grateful to have you by my side. Here’s to a lifetime together. I love you, @BarackObama!” she gushed. He showed his adoration for her as well: “Miche, after 30 years, I’m not sure why you look exactly the same and I don’t. I do know that I won the lottery that day — that I couldn’t have asked for a better life partner. Happy anniversary, sweetheart!”
The 44th president isn’t the only one grateful for Michelle. Today, tributes continue to pour in online celebrating her big day. Philanthropist and television host Shaun Robinson tweeted, “Happy Birthday, @MichelleObama! May God continue to bless you and bless others through you as you shine your light across the world!” A supporter added, “Happy 59th birthday to @MichelleObama! You are a true light on Earth [and] you inspire me every day.”
In 2018, the South Side native was honored to have her image immortalized by the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. Today, the organization wrote, “Happy Birthday, #MichelleObama! Born in Chicago, Illinois, Michelle Obama earned degrees from Princeton University [and] Harvard Law School. As first lady, she focused on women’s rights, LGBTQ rights, children’s health and military families.” The mother of two also received well-wishes from the popular kids’ educational TV series, “Sesame Street.” “Happy birthday to our very special friend, Mrs. @MichelleObama! Prince Harry admits the royal family made a fortune from the slave trade
Last week on Jan. 10, Prince Harry of the royal family released his tell-all memoir “Spare,” and despite the record-breaking sales pace, the book is now in the news for controversial reasons.
Forbes reported on Wednesday (Jan. 11), a day after its release, that the book’s publisher, Penguin Random House, said the piece of literature sold over 1.4 million copies. Meanwhile, yesterday (Jan. 16), Gayle King of “CBS Mornings” reported that the Duke of Sussex admitted in “Spare” that his family made a fortune from the trans-Atlantic slave trade.
He acknowledged that his family once generated wealth from “exploited workers and thuggery, annexation and enslaved people.” While many people praise the British monarchy for its tradition, most people aren’t aware of the royal family’s historical involvement in the progression of slavery. Esther Stanford-Xosei, a lawyer and reparations expert, briefly educated “CBS Mornings” viewers on Harry’s family’s demoralizing past.
“I mean it goes all the way back to Elizabeth I,” explained Stanford-Xosei. “The British monarchy has been heavily involved in financing enslavement voyages of traffickers, but also beneficiaries of actual labor of enslaved Africans.”
She continued, “The governor of the Royal African Company was James II, otherwise known as the Duke of York. They also found ways of branding African people with the inscription ‘DY,’ for Duke of York.”
While the royal monarchy has never publicly apologized, modern members of the British family, including Prince William, Harry’s brother and the heir to the throne, have expressed sympathy for their ancestors connection to the slave trade.
“The appalling atrocity of slaver forever stains our history,” William said on a visit to Jamaica last year. “I want to express my profound sorrow.” Stanford-Xosei suggested that the royal family won’t apologize because it could cost them money and their reputation.
“The reason why he doesn’t go further is that he’s aware [of] what it will mean to actually apologize, in terms of the legal obligation to make reparation,” she explained. She added that William and his family feared it would cost the monarchy “not only money, but status… He will be exposing the criminality of this institution.”
“In terms of Prince Harry going this far, it’s really, really important,” Stanford-Xosei said. “We can see the establishment reaction, including… the establishment media, who are seeking to belittle him, demonize him because he is daring to speak universal truths and actually be in touch with the conscience of humanity.”

The 2023 GLAAD Media Awards are coming! GLAAD, the world’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) media advocacy organization, announced the nominees for the 34th Annual GLAAD Media Awards on Wednesday (January 18).

The Queen Madonna Announces North American and European Dates for 2023 Celebration Tour
Madonna announced dates for her Celebration Tour on Tuesday with the help of some Hollywood friends.
In a nearly five-minute video shared to her social accounts — including her Instagram, which was wiped on Monday in anticipation of the announcement — the artist can be seen paying tribute to her 1991 Blond Ambition World Tour documentary Truth or Dare. The announcement comes at the end of the video, which features Amy Schumer, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Diplo, Kate Berlant, Eric Andre, Bob the Drag Queen, Larry Owens and Meg Stalter around a table playing the game Truth or Dare.

The tour will kick off this July in Vancouver and end in December in Amsterdam, spanning 35 cities in total across North America and Europe. Other major stops during the first leg include Detroit, Chicago, New York, Miami and Los Angeles, with 11 additional dates outside North America — in London, Barcelona, Paris and Stockholm, among others — slated for the fall and early winter.
Produced by Live Nation and featuring Bob the Drag Queen (Caldwell Tidicue) at all dates on the tour, the music event will honor Madonna’s musical journey across four decades with a special celebration of New York, the city where her career began. “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in a statement included in her tour announcement.
Celebration Tour tickets go on sale at madonna.com/tour starting Friday at 10 a.m. local time. U.S. Citi cardmembers, European and Canadian AMEX cardmembers as well as Legacy members of Madonna’s official fan club will have access to separate presales. VIP packages — featuring premium tickets, exclusive access to a behind-the-scenes tour, a group photo onstage, a pre-show reception, a limited edition lithograph and more — will also be available at vipnation.com.
The fan club presale for North American dates runs from Tuesday at noon ET through Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET. The presale for U.K and European dates will take place on Wednesday from 9 a.m. GMT to 5 p.m. GMT. Additional presale tickets for North American dates will be available to Legacy members between 10 a.m. on Jan. 23 and 5 p.m. on Jan. 25, local time.
The Celebration tour arrives nearly 40 years after Madonna’s 1985 North American Virgin Tour. Madonna last toured in 2019 and early 2020 as part of her Madame X theater tour.

Janet Jackson Sued by Business Managers for Over $200K
*Janet Jackson is being sued by her business managers for a quarter of a million dollars for “unpaid services,” according to legal documents.
As The Blast reports, the suit claims Jackson entered into a “business management services agreement” in August of 2017 with David Weise and Associates,” which describes itself as “the largest business management firm in the country.”
“We work alongside the world’s top artists in music, film, and television, as well as athletes, executives, entrepreneurs, and other high achievers, offering a sophisticated range of concierge-style services to meet their lifestyle management needs,” per the company.
Jackson is accused of not paying the full amount owed for services rendered by the company since 2017. The total allegedly owed is $238,593.88.
Lisa Marie Presley's Official Cause of Death Deferred Pending Further Tests
Lisa Marie Presley's cause of death remains officially undetermined after the Los Angeles coroner "deferred" a ruling Tuesday.
"Presley was examined on Jan. 14 and the cause of death was deferred," Sarah Ardalani, a spokesperson with the L.A. County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, told CNN.
"Deferred means that after an autopsy, a cause of death has not been determined and the medical examiner is requesting more investigation into the death, including additional studies," added Ardalani, per CNN. "Once the tests/studies come back, the doctor evaluates the case again and makes the cause of death determination."
Lisa Marie died at age 54 on Jan. 12, hours after being rushed to a Los Angeles hospital for a possible cardiac arrest.
She had a family history of heart problems: her father, Elvis Presley, died at age 42 on Aug. 16, 1977, from cardiac arrhythmia with ventricular fibrillation (a condition where the heart beats abnormally then stops), The Washington Post reported at the time.
Elvis' mother Gladys Love Presley also died at the early age of 46 of heart failure in 1958. And Vernon Presley, Lisa Marie's grandfather, died of cardiac arrest at 63 in 1979.
While heart failure and cardiac arrest are not the same, both can be fatal. Heart failure indicates that the heart is not pumping as much blood as the body needs, while cardiac arrest means the heart stops beating.
Having a history of heart disease in your family makes you more likely to develop a heart ailment in the future, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Many types of heart disease can be passed down in families. According to the Mayo Clinic, family history of a heart disease increases the risk of coronary artery disease especially if a parent developed it at an early age.
Earlier this week, country music legend Dolly Parton said she hoped Lisa Marie was now resting in peace with her late father.
"I thought, 'Well, Elvis is there waiting for her,' and we just all love that family and just wish them the best, but that was a sad, sad loss," Parton, 76, told Entertainment Tonight at a Nashville, Tennessee, event for her Duncan Hines cake mixes.
"Hopefully they are up there being happy together, and hopefully Priscilla will find some peace through the love that we all have for her," she added to the outlet.
In a post following the announcement of the singer-songwriter's death, the country star shared a note for Lisa Marie's mother, Priscilla Presley, via Instagram.
"Priscilla, I know how sad you must be. May God comfort you at this time," she wrote last week. "Elvis, I know how happy you must be to finally have her home and to have her back with you. Lisa Marie, may you rest in peace. We all love all of you."
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirmed to PEOPLE on Jan. 12 that paramedics responded to the 5900 block of Normandy drive in Calabasas, California, to treat a woman who was not breathing.
When they arrived, the paramedics began CPR and, upon noting the patient had "signs of life," transferred her to a local hospital for "immediate medical care."
Lisa Marie is survived by her mother, actress and businesswoman Priscilla, 77, and her three daughters: Riley Keough, 33, and twins Finley and Harper, 14. Lisa Marie was preceded in death by her son Benjamin Keough, who died by suicide at age 27 in July 2020.
Her final resting place will be at Graceland next to her son Benjamin, according to Keough's representative. She will also be honored with a public memorial service at Graceland.
Todd and Julie Chrisley report to prison on bank fraud, tax evasion convictions
The couple's attorney did not respond to Yahoo Entertainment's requests for comment.
The Chrisley Knows Best stars — whose show with their mostly adult children still has an unknown future — were convicted of bank fraud and tax evasion in June. Though they faced 30 years each behind bars, they were sentenced to a combined 19 years in November. He was ordered to serve 12 years, while she was given seven.
They aren't at the same facility, either. While they were initially assigned to different prisons in Florida, where he's at the Federal Correctional Institution Pensacola, Entertainment Tonight reported that her designated location was changed on Dec. 20 from the Sunshine State's Correctional Institution Marianna to the Federal Medical Center Lexington in Lexington, Ky, where inmates require medical or mental health care.
The two have said they are innocent, blaming any wrongdoing on a former employee acting without their knowledge. They had requested to begin their sentences in three weeks, but it was denied, as was their request for bail pending their appeal to the courts.
Julie appeared on Tuesday's edition of their daughter Savannah's podcast, Unlocked, which was pre-recorded.
"I have come to a place, and it's taken me a while to get there, to know that God has a plan. God has a purpose for my pain. That this is not the end of the road for me or our family," she said. "And that my story, at some point, I hope and pray will help someone else at their lowest."
On Monday night, less than a day before he was scheduled to report, Todd shared footage of Georgia-based gospel singer Karen Peck performing the song "Four Days Late" before a packed audience. "HE is always on time," he captioned the video on social media, before adding the hashtag, "#fightthegoodfight." He, or someone from his team, deleted the post on Tuesday.
He said last month that he felt more religious than ever in the wake of their legal issues.
"In this storm that we're in, I feel like I'm closer to God than I've ever been," Todd said on he and Julie's own Chrisley Confessions podcast just after the sentencing. "But I find myself screaming out, because, you know, in the Bible, it says to scream out to God, to cry out to God. And, you know, with what we're going through right now, you've heard me do that. You've heard me say, 'God, please, I'm crying out to you.' I don't know what else to do. I'm asking for the truth to be revealed. I'm asking for you to shed light where there is darkness. I'm asking for our enemies to be exposed."
Jeremy Renner released from the hospital after snowplow accident: 'With my family at home'
Jeremy Renner was released from the hospital after his nearly fatal snowplow accident. The 52-year-old actor revealed he was able to watch the Season 2 premiere of his show, Mayor of Kingstown, at home.
"Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home," the Avengers star wrote on Twitter late Monday night.
Earlier, Renner shared a photo of a snowy road on his Instagram story that appears to be near his Nevada home. "It's a rough ride over the pass," he captioned the shot. "Be safe out there Reno/Tahoe."
Renner's was hospitalized in critical condition on Jan. 1 after he was accidentally run over by his PistenBully snowplow. The Marvel star was digging out a stuck car on the property of his Lake Tahoe-area vacation home after a big snowstorm. He was celebrating the holidays with his family.
"Mr. Renner got out of his PistenBully to speak to a family member. At this point, it is observed that the PistenBully started to roll. In an effort to stop the rolling PistenBully, Mr. Renner attempts to get back into the driver's seat of the PistenBully. Based on our investigation, it's at this point that Mr. Renner is run over by the PistenBully," Nevada's Washoe County Sheriff's Office said in a press conference earlier this month.
Renner suffered "blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries" and underwent emergency surgery. The snow removal equipment weighs at least 14,330 pounds, per the sheriff's office. The Hawkeye star shared several updates from his hospital bed and assured fans he's on the road to recovery.
"We are so thrilled with his progress," the actor's sister, Kym Renner, told People. "If anyone knows Jeremy, he is a fighter and doesn't mess around. He is crushing all the progress goals. We couldn't feel more positive about the road ahead."

Anika Noni Rose Marries Actor Jason Dirden in Intimate LA Wedding Ceremony
*Anika Noni Rose and fellow actor and “Greenleaf” star Jason Dirden tied the knot in an intimate ceremony last year in Los Angeles.
The couple married on Oct. 16 at the Paramour Estate in Los Angels, the actress tells Brides. Rose, 50, and Dirden, 42, first met in 2014 when they both appeared in the Broadway production of “A Raisin in the Sun.” He popped the question in December 2021.
“We were friends for a couple of years, actually,” Rose told Brides. “We both went off and did our things and were disconnected for a while and then swung back.”
After getting engaged, the couple planned their nuptials in only 8 weeks.
“The space was so gorgeous and natural that we didn’t want to overwhelm it with flowers,” said Rose of choosing the Paramour Estate as their wedding location. “We just wanted them to enhance what nature had given us.”
Rose surprised Dirden on the day of the ceremony with an original cover of Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me,” which was their first dance song.
“The only other person who knew that this was happening was the DJ,” Rose shared with Brides. “I saw the moment Jason realized it was me singing. Meanwhile, my family knew it was me from the moment the first beat dropped! Jason was so focused on the dance that it took him about two lines in before he had that ‘Ah’ moment.”
For her wedding gown, Rose opted for a custom look, so she collaborated with London-based designer Gbemi Okunlola of Alonuko Bridal.
“When we met, we talked about the story we wanted to tell with the dress,” she said. “[Our vision was] that of a rose coming into full bloom, but without being too fussy. I also didn’t want anything I could wear on a red carpet,” she said.
There were some unexpected hiccups during the wedding planning process but her overall journey to the altar was quite smooth.
“My grandma always told me, ‘Every kick is a boost,'” Rose said. “Things are going to go wrong, but everything that went ‘wrong’ during our planning was followed by something better. You may find that your ‘plan b’ couldn’t be more perfect. We sure did.”

Pieces from the personal collection of the late André Leon Talley will be presented for auction by Christie’s, with proceeds slated to be put toward causes important to the iconic fashion editor.
In a statement shared with media, Alexis Thomas—the executor of the estate—pointed to Talley’s collection as a key part of his larger legacy within fashion and beyond.
“André was an intellectual and held a lifelong dedication to social justice and a pioneering vision for Black creators and luminaries,” Thomas said in an emailed statement. “André saw his collection of beautiful objects, laden with fashion history, as his legacy, and it’s an honor to ensure that its sale will benefit the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem and Mount Sinai Church in Durham. As we embark on a global tour with the collection, we hope to bring the magic of André Leon Talley into the lives of those who have long admired him.”
Following a highlights-featuring tour with stops in Palm Beach and Paris, the collection will be sold through a live Christie’s New York sale on Feb. 15, as well as via a pair of online sales slated to wrap on Feb. 16 and Feb. 17.
André Leon Talley, 73, died in January of last year. His decades of sustaining influence in fashion were remembered in subsequent tribute messages from Marc Jacobs, Viola Davis, Kim Kardashian, Zendaya, and more.
US Pro Wrestler Jay Briscoe Dies In Car Accident At 38
The US Wrestling community is mourning the death of professional wrestler Jay Briscoe, who died at 38.
The death of the Ring of Honor (ROH) star, whose real name was Jamin Pugh, was announced on Tuesday.
Tony Khan, Owner of ROH and CEO of All Elite Wrestling, confirmed the news on Twitter.
He wrote: “Sadly, Jamin Pugh has passed away. Known to fans as Jay Briscoe, he was a star in ROH for over 20 years, from the first show until today. Jay and his brother Mark dominated ROH, reigning as champions to this day.”
He said, “We’ll do whatever we can to support his family.
“Rest In Peace, Jamin,” he added.
ROH’s website said: “It is with a heavy heart that we mourn the tragic passing of Jamin Pugh, known to wrestling fans worldwide as Jay Briscoe. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and fans.”
Several wrestling websites claimed Pugh was killed in a car accident in Laurel, Delaware.
Per Delaware State Police, CNN affiliate WMDT reported that two people were killed in the collision.
DSP didn’t identify the victims but said: “Laurel Road at Little Hill Road will be closed for an extended period due to a fatal accident. DSP on-scene.”
On Tuesday, Laurel School District posted on Facebook that it would be closed on Wednesday following the incident. It said: “Due to an unthinkable tragedy in our community this evening, The Laurel School District will be closed for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18, 2023. Schools will reopen on Thursday. Please keep the Pugh family in your thoughts and prayers.”
