Lately, much has been made in the representation conversation about minority actors being cast in roles that are essentially “colour-blind,” effectively removing the stereotype that only someone who looks a certain way can play a lead role and opening up opportunities for PoC to play roles outside the typically typecast ones: “But I’m in a place in my career now where I am specifically interested in roles that explore a character’s race,” says Oh. “Because I can—and because I want our conversations to eventually move to a place that recognizes that it’s important. Let’s say it’s a show about a fashion magazine and the editor’s Black. You can’t just write this character without having the background of who she is. But that has been the primary storytelling for as long as we’ve been around.”
That one-dimensional approach makes little sense, because we all know how often a person’s race or culture influences their choices or way of navigating the world: “Asian-Americans, particularly from my generation, almost recoil if we hear an accent [onscreen] because of how laden in racism and misunderstanding [it is] and [how it’s a result of] not being in charge of the story,” she says.
Oh pauses for thought and reflects on a shift she is excited to see happening: younger actors who “carry” their accent: “If you are Korean-American and from Los Angeles, you have an accent, but they aren’t trying to flatten their accent, like I have,” she says. “They are just carrying that into the character of, say, a doctor. That’s how we get the shift. We don’t want to just have a person of colour acting the way a white person would act. Because they’re not!”

#RHOA: Porsha Williams Says She Moved Too Fast with Dennis McKinley!
Porsha Williams has some regrets about her relationship with fiancé Dennis McKinley.
On Sunday's Real Housewives of Atlanta season 12 reunion, the reality star told host Andy Cohen that she "certainly" thinks she moved too quickly with McKinley, who cheated on her while she was pregnant with their 1-year-old daughter Pilar Jhena.
"I think the majority of my relationship with Dennis, I have been unapologetic about moving too fast because I'm a hopeless romantic and I loved him," Williams said, noting how McKinley took longer to mature past his single days than she did.
"We wanted the same things. But at the same time, in real time, you have to give a person a chance to let go of what they had going on for you all to really move forward in a real relationship," Williams added. "And so, I do wish we had taken a little bit more time."
Williams, 38, and McKinley, 43, only dated for a year before getting engaged in September 2018 — just two months after Williams learned she was pregnant.
Though they appeared happily in love, even getting their own Bravo spinoff, McKinley's affair caused a wedge in their relationship.
RHOA viewers this season saw the two working through their problems. McKinley eventually apologized and took accountability for his infidelity, and Williams even accepted her engagement ring back during a romantic re-proposal.
The two are still together, Williams said on Sunday, quarantining together with their daughter and Williams' mother, Diane.
"We're in a good place right now," Williams told Cohen when asked how they were doing.
That's a different answer than she previously gave him, when he asked a similar question during a January episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Back then, Williams only said that the two were "working on our relationship," dodging Cohen's inquiries about whether or not she trusted McKinley. Days prior to her WWHL appearance, photos had surfaced of McKinley out with a group of women at an Atlanta diner at 4. a.m., leading many to wonder if the two were on the rocks again.
"Can y'all just continue to comment and speculate and let me just figure out my life?" Williams pled. "I'm figuring out my life."
Reflecting on that time now, Williams said she wasn't too happy about the photos.
"I was upset," she said at the reunion. "I did not feel the need to comment and try to take up for him in any way, so I didn't comment. But now we're in a different place."
"At the time, I knew that he was going to a birthday party at a club. What I didn't know is that he was going to go eat afterwards. And then seeing how it looked when people took the picture, and once again back in the press in a negative light, I didn't like it," Williams admitted. "Even if it is you going to eat with friends that I know about, still, it doesn't matter. You're out to eat at a certain time in the morning. And he agreed."
As for her wedding, Williams said she and McKinley are still planning to walk down the aisle, though they have disagreements over how big the affair will be. She has wanted a bigger event, while McKinley has suggested they go smaller.
"With this whole situation of everything being so publicized, [he] still feels like other people may be judging him and not genuine," Williams said. "So I think that's why he wants to have a small wedding, because he doesn't want to have a lot of people there."
"He [questions] whether they fully support us or not because they know our business," she added.

Gilles Peterson will premiere the unreleased D’Angelo and Erykah Badu collaboration “Behoove” on an upcoming episode of his BBC Radio 6 show.
Teased in a snapshot of a tracklist from Slingbaum’s forthcoming One project, the song features contributions from Chris Dave (drums,) Cory Henry (keys,) Jameel Bruner (organ,) Keyon Harrold (horns,) and more. And according to an Instagram post from the enigmatic producer (see below,) Peterson will get first dibs on his show next Saturday, May 23.
Sligbaum’s One was announced at the top of 2020 as a vinyl-exclusive three-track release with additional support from FKA twigs, Bilal, Syd, Nick Hakim, Questlove, Ahmad Jamal, Damon Albarn, and more. Pre-orders of the project have come and gone, but according to the producer’s site, a limited run of copies will land at select stores this spring. Those who already put in their orders should receive digital download links by the end of this month.

Eminem wants the smoke with DMX. The “Rap God” is reportedly down to battle the New York rap legend, according to N.O.R.E. On Monday, the “Drink Champs” podcast host took to Instagram where he claimed that DMX and Eminem are prepared to face off as part of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Instagram Live series.
“This moment is so Legend !!! 3 minutes before this @therealswizzz CALLS X and says Eminem is down for that smoke,” N.O.R.E. captioned a photo of him and DMX playing a game of Jenga.

Wendy Williams is taking time off from her popular talk show. The news was announced on social media noting that she
“has been dealing with symptoms from her Graves’ disease which is causing fatigue.”

In 2018, Wendy Williams announced her on talk show that she had Graves’ disease and was taking time off to focus on her health.
She also postponed returning to her talk show in 2019 due to the disease.
Graves’ disease is an autoimmune disease that affects the thyroid. It frequently results in and is the most common cause of hyperthyroidism. It also often results in an enlarged thyroid. Signs and symptoms of hyperthyroidism may include irritability, muscle weakness, sleeping problems, a fast heartbeat, poor tolerance of heat, diarrhea and unintentional weight loss.

Brian Austin Green has confirmed that he has split from wife Megan Fox.
There has been speculation for weeks that the couple was on the rocks amid reports that they were quarantining separately. Then just a few days ago, Megan was spotted hanging out with rapper Machine Gun Kelly.
On the latest episode of his podcast, Brian, 46, referenced the photos that surfaced and opened up about a dream that he had while Megan, 34, was filming a movie with MGK, 30.
Brian says that since the end of 2019, he and Megan have “really been trying to sort of be apart.”
“I will always love her,” Brian said (via Us Weekly). “And I know she will always love me and I know as far as a family what we have built is really cool and really special.”
Despite the split, Brian says that he and Megan plan to “still do family vacations and holidays as a family and really make that a focus for the kids.”

Gregory Tyree Boyce has been found dead at the age of 30.
The Twilight actor was found dead at home in his Las Vegas condo alongside girlfriend Natalie Adepoju. Cause of deaths are still pending.
“Greg‘s cousin woke up and noticed that Greg‘s car was still at the house. He was worried because Greg was to be in LA. His cousin went to check on him and found them,” a source told E! News.
The source told the outlet that Gregory had moved to Las Vegas to help his mother, but he “would commute to LA for acting jobs and to see his daughter.”
Gregory‘s only big-screen acting credit is his role as Tyler Crowley in the 2008 movie Twilight. In case you don’t remember, Tyler is the student at Forks High School who almost runs over Bella with his van before Edward saves her life.

Naomi Campbell swapped her runway fashions for a hazmat suit on a recent flight. Back in March, she was a frontrunner in taking steps to don equipment to protect herself from coronavirus while traveling.
Now, Naomi Campbell has slipped her full hazmat suit and face mask back on, with the addition of a face shield and goggles, for a flight this week.
The supermodel, 49, shared a selfie with her 9.1 million followers on Instagram showing her seated on an airplane having taken every possible precaution to avoid infection.
“On the move,” she captioned the snap.
However, many were still baffled as to why she was traveling despite having urged fans to stay home.
It comes after Campbell previously shared a series of pictures on Instagram of her wearing a similar get-up to fly in the early days of the pandemic.
The star explained: “Safety First NEXT LEVEL.”
At the time the supermodel revealed she had purchased the equipment on Amazon six weeks previously, in late January.
André Leon Talley: My relationship with Anna Wintour ‘Is In An Iceberg’!
André Leon Talley just can’t stop talking about Anna Wintour. Talley, 70, slammed the Vogue doyenne in his new memoir — due out Tuesday — and on Monday told Gayle King during a segment for “CBS This Morning” that “I think my relationship is in an iceberg with her,” adding, “I hope that it will not be that forever.”
As Page Six revealed, those around Wintour, also 70, believe she would be extremely hurt by the book, “The Chiffon Trenches,” which Talley claimed is a “love letter” to her — despite also arguing she is “not capable of simple human kindness.”
During Monday’s broadcast, King asked him to clarify the contradiction.
“I looked at that André and I went, ‘Love letter?’ If that’s your idea of a love letter I’m thinking I don’t want you to like me at all,” King said. “How do you explain that? I thought this must be very painful for her to read. Seriously.”
“Indeed, it is probably very hard for her to read,” Talley replied. “It was painful for me to write this.”
“But it is a love letter because it’s a love letter about the joys as well as the lows of my life. And the joys of my life have been with Anna Wintour,” he explained. “I owe to her the pioneering role that I had of a creative director of Vogue. I was the first black man to ever be named such. I owe that to Anna Wintour. I owe her much. And I think, in turn, I think she owes me.”
When asked to elaborate on what Wintour owes Talley, he replied: “She owes me kindness and simple grace and being decent when things go south.”
“I understand changes are made in a corporate institution at Vogue,” Talley said. “When she decides that I’m no longer working on the carpet for the Met Gala, just call me and say ‘André we’re moving in a new direction, you’ve been wonderful, I love what you’re doing, but now we’re going with the young influencers who know nothing because they have 20 million followers on YouTube.’ Just say it to me. It’s difficult for some Black men to retrace the steps of the past, but what happens when brotherhood, memories of war and treasure are involved? That’s the question posed by Da 5 Bloods, Spike Lee’s latest Netflix project.
The movie finds four veterans, Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis) and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.), on a complicated journey to find the remains of their fallen squad leader (played in flashbacks by Chadwick Boseman) and gold they buried in Vietnam many years ago. The men are accompanied by Paul’s son, played by Jonathan Majors (The Last Black Man in San Francisco).
During this adventure the brothers confront their trauma and the ravages of the Vietnam War.
Lee, whose BlacKKKlasnman won 2019’s Academy Award for Best Screenplay, has been teasing Da 5 Bloods on Instagram for a few weeks, but Netflix dropped the official trailer today.

The two-minute-plus clip is a mix of past and present, featuring protests, old-school Vietnam footage and the now seasoned band of brothers doing a two-step at the aptly titled Apocalypse Now club. The 1966 hit “Time Has Come Today” by the Chambers Brothers plays over the trailer.
Always one to do it for the culture, Lee mentioned on Instagram that the artwork for Bloods was created by “the great Emory Douglas, who was the minister of culture for the Black Panther Party.

Tekashi 6ix9ine is learning firsthand that Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber's fandoms yield some serious power in the music world.
The controversial rapper publicly accused the pop music powerhouses of fraudulently climbing their way to the top of the Billboard charts with their recent collab, "Stuck With U." On Monday, Tekashi (whose song "GOOBA" fell short of the top spot to land at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100) posted a video to Instagram claiming that his team launched an "investigation" and discovered that "six credit cards" were used to purchase 30,000 units of the song.
"When we asked where was those six credit cards linked to, Billboard said we can't disclose that information," Tekashi alleged in the video.
Both Ariana and Justin staunchly denied the allegations.
"my fans bought the song," Ariana wrote in a lengthy Instagram statement. "JUSTIN'S fans bought the song. OUR fans bought this song (never more than four copies each, AS THE RULES STATE). they are ride or die motherf--kers and i thank god every day that i have them in my life. not just when they fight for us to win (even when i ask them not to as i did this week) but because they're some of the greatest people i know. sales count for more than streams. u can not discredit this as hard as u try."

Tekashi didn't heed Justin's warning, instead posting another video to address Ariana directly.
"I don't want you to think that I'm coming at you," he said. "I'm not saying that you're not talented and I'm not saying you can't sing. You're a beautiful singer. You just don't understand my pain. My frustration is for Billboard. I speak for the millions of kids that come from nothing. I want you to understand that I come from a different, different background than you."
In early April, Tekashi was released from prison several months earlier than scheduled and placed under house arrest due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Ariana and Justin dedicated all net proceeds from the streams and sales of "Stuck with U" to the First Responders Children's Foundation. Funds will go toward grants and scholarships for children of healthcare workers and other front line responders fighting against the coronavirus pandemic.
Kansas City Officers Indicted In Alleged Assault on Transgender Woman!
Two Kansas City police officers were arrested after footage showed them slamming Brianna Hill’s head into a sidewalk during an arrest last year, according to KSHB Kansas City. Hill, who is a transgender woman, went by several other aliases, including Breona, Bebe, and Briya.
On Friday, a grand jury in Missouri handed down the indictment of Matthew Brummett, 37, and Charles Prichard, 47, on misdemeanor fourth-degree assault charges per Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.
The incident happened on May 24 of last year, outside a beauty supply store, after the woman had a disagreement with someone inside the store. Both Hill and the store’s owners called 911, and the owners asked for Hill to be removed. According to the officers, Hill was resisting, and officers took her to the ground.
Cellphone footage of the incident was taken by a bystander outside the beauty supply store and showed the officers kneeing the woman in the face, torso, and ribs while she is handcuffed. The officers maintain that Hill beat her own head into the ground and that they prevented her from causing herself more harm by restraining her.
She was ticketed for trespassing, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Peters Baker expressed her disappointment and frustration in the case, saying in a statement that her office presented the case before the grand jury after KCPD investigators declined to provide a probable cause statement and determined the officers did nothing wrong.
It was announced Friday that both officers have been placed on administrative leave. They are scheduled to appear in court in August, and the charges carry a sentence of up to a year in jail.
A statement was issued on behalf of Brummett and Prichard through the police union Fraternal Order of Police Lodge No. 99 stating:
“Officers Matthew Brummett and Charles Prichard were made aware of the misdemeanor charges late today related to their arrest of Brianna Hill on May 24, 2019. Both officers have fully cooperated with the Department during the entire investigation. They maintain that the force they used was reasonable under the totality of the circumstances. They vehemently dispute the basis of these charges and believe they will be ultimately exonerated in court.”
Brianna Hill was shot and killed in a separate incident in October. Someone has been charged for her death.
Briana Camille Seeks Immediate Child Support After DNA Test Proves Rick Ross Is The Father of Her Children!
In the case of Briana Camille’s two small children: Rick Ross…….., you are the father.
New court documents obtained by BOSSIP have confirmed Ross is more than 99 percent likely to be the father of Camille’s two children, Berkley and Billion. Ross and Camille were once in a relationship and previously lived together with their children. Camille is currently pregnant with a third child allegedly from Ross.
The announcement comes amid the former couple’s child support and paternity battle, in which Camille is requesting immediate temporary child support for the two kids. Camille claims Ross has neglected the children financially, and kicked them out of his house last year, according to court documents obtained by BOSSIP. The mother states that Ross hasn’t paid child support since February 2020 and has only paid for daycare because there was never a DNA test confirming he was the children’s father. She also says he didn’t contribute to her prenatal care or the children’s medical bills.
Camille filed the lawsuit against Ross earlier this year, but Ross initially asked a judge to drop the case, claiming he was not served properly. His lawyer said he received service earlier this month, according to BOSSIP. The results of the paternity test reached Ross on May 14, 2020, but no child support plans have been made yet. BOSSIP reports that Camille says she is a military veteran who hasn’t worked in four years due to being discharged over a medical condition.
The mother says her money goes towards rent, medical bills, and other items the children need; she is looking to have Ross pay her back for some of the money she has spent on the children recently. In response to finding out that the children are, in fact, his, Ross called out Camille online, calling her a “fat girl.” He expressed his happiness with Camille taking the DNA test after he originally asked her to participate in one earlier this year. However, Camille said she did not want to Ross’ team to conduct the test out of fear that he might tamper with the results.
LAPD Calls Off Search for Former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard!
The Los Angeles police have called off the search for former WWE Superstar Shad Gaspard after he went missing on the beach.
The 39-year-old Gaspard was swimming with his 10-year-old son on Sunday afternoon at Venice Beach when a strong rip current pulled him, his son and and a group of swimmers under the water. Lifeguards were dispatched to rescue them, and Gaspard instructed them to save his son first, which they did. Divers and helicopters were sent to search the area, but the team was unsuccessful.
"According to reports, LA Police have called off the search for missing WWE Superstar Shad," wresting writer Jon Blayne confirmed on Twitter. "They were not able to find him."
Gizelle Bryant Denies Jamal Bryant Fathered Child with Another Woman!
Gizelle Bryant is shooting down claims that her boyfriend Jamal Bryant, fathered another child. The Real Housewives of Potomac cast member was asked during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live! if the mega preacher, whom she was married to before, recently fathered a child with a member of his congregation.
That is all the way a lie. She adds,Clearly we’re very important if people are going to make up these lies. Put some respect on Jamal’s name. He’s doing wonderful things in Atlanta.”
Jamal Bryant also denied these claims earlier this month stating,
Reckless and irresponsible bloggers who went on with no facts, no evidence, and might I add, no truth to make baseless accusations that I had fathered a baby in April, May, February, January — here in Atlanta — and was hiding this baby from some mother in Atlanta or in my church. That, no. 1, is 1,000 percent untrue. One thousand percent faulty.

Texas church cancels Masses after 3 members test positive for COVID-19!
HOUSTON, Texas -- A Houston church has closed its doors after three members tested positive for COVID-19 since it reopened May 2.
Holy Ghost Church of Galveston-Houston shared a statement on their website that the members were asymptomatic but one of them had been active in public Masses at the church since its reopening.
The church is urging that any members who attended mass since the reopening should monitor their health for any symptoms or to get tested for the coronavirus.
According to the church, they have notified the City of Houston's Health Department about the situation.
Masses at the church have been cancelled until further notice.
