Keke Palmer Looks Stunning for Harper’s Bazaar Magazine!
Keke Palmer is featured on harpersbazaar.com Spring digital cover photographed by Adrienne Raquel and styled by Cassie Anderson.
With a natural showmanship and a studied ability to harness the power of the Internet, Keke Palmer is defining millennial stardom one meme at a time.
someone that’s looked at, I wanna try my best to uplift other people like me. Whether they be Black, whether they be women, whether they be millennials, whether they be the underdog, whatever. If I can be that voice, why not?” Here are some excerpts from the Magazine.
On why she loves memes: “I see memes as, like, a real way to feel seen. I know that sounds dramatic, but to me, memes are almost like our generation’s version of the comic strips in the newspaper. Not only do you get laughter, but you feel like, ‘I’m not alone. Someone feels the same way. Someone understands.’ It’s a brief moment where you feel a communal connection to a concept. Sometimes when I’m in a bad mood or if I’m feeling an emotion, I’ll put the word in, and I’ll add meme, and I just read all of them to make myself feel better.”
On growing up in Illinois and attending St. Benedict Preparatory School: “…where you’re maybe the only minority kid in your class. I think that was the first time that I realized, ‘Oh, is there a different dialect?’…All I ever cared about was being able to articulate myself, having a strong vocabulary, so I can read people, without curse words.”
On Jennifer Lopez’s Oscar snub for her performance in Hustlers: “Honestly, I feel like everybody deserves their respect and their opportunity to be acknowledged in that way. But I will say that the way my mom raised me, when it comes to the arts, the point isn’t to be validated by the [awards] acknowledgements. So I felt like the fact that [Lopez] wasn’t nominated didn’t take anything away from her performance. To me, the win was the fact that people got to see it and receive the emotion, the feeling. That was the reward.”
On having limits to how much of her private life she’ll share publicly: “I don’t really do relationship stuff online, mainly because I don’t know how I would do it without looking, like, cheesy or something, you know? Yes, I’m a hundred percent authentic, but there is stuff that I do save for family and friends. I do have a Finsta. Sometimes I forget to post on there, ’cause I do post a lot of real moments and raw moments on my main Instagram page. But at the same time, when it comes to romance, [posting about it] doesn’t really come naturally to me, so I feel like, why force it?”
On second guessing personal relationships: “I think a lot about, like, Does this person really like me for me? And it’s not just romantic relationships. It’s friends too. That wavering, that’s the most traumatic thing about fame. And that can really tear at your self-esteem if you let it. ’Cause the reality is you really might be a great person, you really might be that fun to be around, you might be that lovable, but because you’re always having to protect yourself from what people may want from you, you can’t even embrace the fact that maybe it’s all true.”
On what she is up to while Strahan, Sara and Keke is temporarily on hiatus due to informational COVID-19 coverage airing instead: “So obviously we aren’t currently working, which sucks! I miss our crew and Michael and Sara. However, it does free some space up in my head to play around with ideas that I haven’t had the chance to get around to. Now that I’m chained to the house, I have no other choice but to find fun ways to stay active and creative! If you’re looking to be entertained for a bit, check out my Insta. I’ve turned it into my own daytime talk show!”

#RHOA: Will Cynthia Bailey Postpone Her Wedding Amid The #COVID19 Epidemic?
‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Cynthia Bailey revealed she’s hesitant about sending out invites for her October wedding due to the current climate.
Cynthia Bailey, 53, has opened up about her wedding plans amid worldwide cancellations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. “[Coronavirus] has affected it of course,” she said recently “I’ve spoken to my event planner and the venue, just to have the conversation, because we don’t know what’s going on. See, I’m kind of hesitant to even send out the invites right now to be honest, because I just don’t know.” The Real Housewives of Atlanta star said she felt like 2020 was going to be the “perfect year” but the coronavirus outbreak threw a spanner in the works. “We always thought 10/10/20 was the perfect date,” she said. “I’m like 2020, let me tell you something. I owe 2019 an apology.”
Cynthia added, “I love 2019 and all the other years, like this is crazy.” The reality star reiterated that she was going to get married to her fiance Mike Hill no matter what, but was working out the logistics of postponing her big day.”In the event we need to change it or postpone the date, you know what does that mean? Because we paid deposits and all that stuff already. We’re going to get married; whether it’s 10/10/20, not so sure about that.”
Despite the overwhelming stress of her wedding, Cynthia acknowledged there was an even bigger picture to look at. “By the time this is over, I don’t even know who’s going to have jobs, who’s going to be afford to come to the wedding,” she said. “Even in terms of production, I don’t even know where we’re doing with Housewives at this point. We haven’t even had the reunion yet.” Cynthia also said a lot of her friends and family live out of town, which could impact her decision making.

#HipHopNews: 2 Chainz Says ‘Collegrove 2’ With Lil Wayne Is Dropping This Year!
2 Chainz confirmed that a sequel to his 2016 collaborative album with Lil Wayne will arrive this year. During an Instagram Live stream with fans on Thursday, the Atlanta rapper made the big announcement.
“I’m also dropping ColleGrove 2 this year,” he told his followers. Young Money president Mack Maine retweeted the video and captioned it with the eyes emoji.
A sequel to ColleGrove has been teased for years. Back in April 2016, Tity Boi said “there’s plenty” more music on the way, while Lil Wayne said it was “already done.” In 2018, 2 Chainz once again hinted at a second installment. “ME AND MY BROTHA GOTTA ANOTHER 1 ON THE WAY,” he wrote.
ColleGrove debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 upon its release in March 2016. It was originally billed as a collaborative project between 2 Chainz and Wayne, but 2 Chainz was credited as the primary artist due to Weezy’s label issues at the time.
Meanwhile, 2 Chainz says he has more “secret surprises” in store for fans this year. Last month, he released his DJ Spinz-produced single “NO TV” as well as No Face No Case, the debut compilation from his T.R.U. collective.
#RIP: Civil rights Icon Rev. Joseph Lowery dies at 98!
March 28 (UPI) -- Rev. Joseph Lowery, a Civil Rights Movement icon who co-founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, has died at age 98.
Lowery died peacefully at home Friday night, surrounded by his daughters, according to a statement by the Joseph & Evelyn Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights.
"Hailed as the 'dean of the civil rights movement' upon his receipt of the NAACP's Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Lowery had assumed and executed a broad and diverse series of roles over the span of his nine decades: leader, pastor, servant, father, husband, freedom fighter and advocate," the statement said.
Born in Hunstville, Ala., on October 6, 1921, he was part of pivotal moments in the nation's early civil rights struggles, including helping to organize the 1955 Montgomery bus boycott.
The 381-day boycott, a non-violent movement, desegregated the city's public transportation and led to formation of the SCLC, which he co-founded in 1957 with his friend and colleague Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Bayard Rustin, Ralph Abernathy, Ella Baker and Fred Shuttlesworth, among others.
"Everybody cleansed themselves, purged themselves of weapons, and had prayer," he said in a 2011 oral history interview for the Library of Congress. "And we took out on the bus route sitting in the front of the bus."
King served as the SCLC's first president and Lowery served as vice president from 1957 to 1967. As vice president of the civil rights organization, Lowery marched, went to jail and had his property seized by the state of Alabama. In 1967, he became chairman of the board, and in 1977 he became the SCLC's president and CEO, replacing Abernathy, who succeeded King as president.
In 1965, King named Lowery to deliver demands to then-Alabama Gov. George Wallace after the voting rights march from Selma to Montgomery. The march was hallmarked by Bloody Sunday, a violent event during which police tear gassed and clubbed peaceful marchers at Edmund Pettus Bridge. The event led to Congress enacting the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
Four decades later, Lowery reflected on the achievement, saying that the number of black elected officials in the country had gone from less than 300 in 1965 to nearly 10,000 by 2005.
"It changed the face of the nation," he said.
A few years later, President Barack Obama asked Lowery to give the benediction at his inauguration.
"It struck me forcefully that hey, you're talking to, you really are talking to the 44th president of the United States," Lowery told NPR. "And he's a fellow that looks like you."
Lowery added that despite fighting for voting rights, he never imagined he would live to see the day Americans would elect a black president.
In 2009, Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of his lifelong commitment to the non-violent struggle for human rights, economic equality, voting rights, peace and human dignity.
Obama said he and former first lady Michelle Obama sent their love to Lowery's family.
"Joseph Lowery changed the face of America. He carried the baton longer and surer than almost anybody. It falls to the rest of us now to pick it up and never stop moving forward until we finish what he started -- that journey to justice," Obama said.
Still, at age 91, in an appearance at the National Mall for the 50th anniversary of King's "I Have a Dream" speech and the March on Washington, Lowery warned that hard fought-voting rights gains were under attack.
The U.S. Supreme Court had struck down a requirement that many states receive federal approval for voting law changes. Lowery was among many leaders who said states, such as Texas, enforced stricter voting identification laws that unfairly target minorities after the ruling. The Obama administration sued Texas over its voting ID law change.
"We come today, 50 years later, it's even stranger that there are men and forces who still seek to restrict our vote and deny our full participation," Lowery said. "Well, we come here to Washington to say: We ain't going back. We've come too far, marched too long, prayed too hard, wept too bitterly, bled too profusely and died too young to let anybody turn back the clock on our journey to justice."
Lowery and his late wife, Evelyn, established the Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights in 2002 at Clark Atlanta University to continue his legacy and promote non-violent advocacy for future generations

After falling out with Rocky back in 2012, SmokeGhostPurrp has claimed he's "tired of holding his tongue".
ASAP Rocky's friendship with his former producer SmokeGhostPurrp famously soured back in 2012 and the pair have often spoken about each other in interviews, with Rocky even appearing to diss the beatmaker on his song 'Angels'.
Rocky claims the pair fell out because SmokeGhostPurrp tried to tell people he taught ASAP how to rap and swag, which Rocky denies. But now SmokeGhostPurrp has claimed their fall out was because he "found out his biggest secret".
Taking to Twitter, SmokeGhostPurrp wrote, 'I'm tired of holding my tongue back in 2011 I was invited to dis party in new York by asap rocky I was pullin up wit my girl n shit and I was on da phone like yo bruh where u at I don't see he was like "YO LOOK DOWN IM RIGHT HERE" Next thing u know he in da pool rubbin a mans ass [sic]'.

He continued, 'So all these rappers that took his side and went against are basically the ones that had to go against so I womt expose their secret , because I did literally. Nothing wrong to them at all [sic]'
I said, 'This is the main real reason why "EVERYBODY HATES SPACEGHOSTPURRP" FOR no reason and been bashing my name becuase I found out his biggest secret and he hot mad because I cut him off for lyin bout his sexuality [sic]'.
In a previous interview with Kerwin Frost during which he spoke about his falling out with SpaceGhostPurrp, ASAP Rocky stated, “I was already blowing up, but once I [blew up], I think that was around the time that [SpaceGhostPurrp] started talking crazy, he went back home and then switched up for no reason,”
He added, “On some for no reason sh*t. And I'ma keep it a buck with you, when he left, everybody was on great terms… Next thing I know drama started and he started telling n***as that I only tried to give him $50,000 to sign him when I gave everyone in A$AP $500,000 to sign them. I’m like, ‘N***a I’m not no major label. I'ma give everyone $500,000?’ Do the math. It’s a little check for everybody to get started up, and what you do with that is on you.”
ASAP Rocky hasn't responded to SpaceGhostPurrp's claims on Twitter at the time of writing.
‘Juwanna Mann’ star Miguel Nunez arrested for allegedly shoplifting groceries!
Police say the man who played the lead role in “Juwanna Mann” shoplifted groceries from a Los Angeles supermarket earlier this week.
According to TMZ, Miguel A. Nunez Jr. walked out of a Ralphs grocery store with at least $200 worth of items.
TMZ reported that the credit card Nunez used was declined, “so he just took his groceries in his card and walked right out the front door without paying.”
The website also reported that Nunez attempted to make it right a few days later by returning to the store and offering to pay for the items that were allegedly stolen. Upon his arrival, he was refused entry, placed under citizens arrest and store management called the LAPD.
Police then cited him for misdemeanor shoplifting and released him, TMZ reported.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the Los Angeles Police Department has not jailed people for minor offenses, according to TMZ, but the police still called it an arrest.
Rapper French Montana Sued For Sexual Battery!
French Montana is being accused of sexual battery. A woman alleges that she was drugged and raped at the rapper’s home. According to legal documents, obtained by The Blast, the victim, who refers to herself as Jane Doe, is also suing Montana’s employee, Mansour Bennouna, and Coke Boy Records for assault and battery, sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent hiring, supervision and retention and negligence.
In the suit, Doe alleges that the men “had a longstanding practice of inviting women to their recording sessions, or choosing women at bars, and inviting them back to the Hidden Hills house.” She claims they would supply the women with “excessive amounts” of alcohol and drugs, “with the purpose of engaging in sexual acts with them, without any regard to whether or not they consented, or were able to consent.”
The woman says that on March 28, 2018, Bennouna “sexually assaulted, sexually harassed, and raped” her, the same day Montana “sexually assaulted, sexually harassed” her. Earlier in the day, Montana allegedly invited her to the studio before inviting her back to his home with Bennouna. While at his house, Doe was invited to take a shot of alcohol. She remembers blacking out and “several men coming in and out of the bedroom.” She believes French was among those who sexually assaulted her.
Doe says she went to the hospital and had a rape kit administered, which showed the presence of semen. She also reported the alleged rape to the police.
She is now seeking damages for “extreme emotional distress, anxiety, flashbacks and depression.” She says that the alleged assault has put a hold on her career as a model and actress.

Halle Berry Responds To Letting Her Son Walk In Heels: ‘It’s Tight On These Kids’!
Halle Berry wants everyone to calm down and laugh a little. The celebrity mom recently responded to critics who took issue with her son, Maceo Martinez, walking around the house while wearing high heels.
The video of Maceo walking in heels showed the youngster heading towards the stairs while gliding in cream colored knee-high boots. Maceo did not turn around to his mom who walked behind him while filming. The youngster, instead, remained focused on the goal of getting up the stairs in heels.
“He still walks better then I do in heels,” one of Halle’s fans said after watching the video clip. “Last time I wore heels, I looked like I was crip walking,” the social media follower wrote.
Many praised Maceo for his ability to effortlessly glide through the house while wearing heels. Some, however, had a problem with the footage because Maceo, a boy, was wearing women’s shoes. Halle Berry had a response for such critics.
“Harmless fun,” the celebrity mom said. “It’s tight on these kids right now,” she added. “Let’s have a laugh and some compassion yawl!”
Berry went on to correct those who thought Maceo was her daughter, Nahla Aubry. “Well, it’s a he,” she said. “And he is having a ball. Tryna cope the best he can. Laughter helps a lot right now!”

Prince’s Family Claims That They Have Not Received Any Payments From His Estate; They Want a Judge To Intervene!
Prince’s siblings are claiming that despite lawyers and advisors being shelled out millions, they have not seen any money from the singer’s estate, and now, they are asking the courts to step in and approve “payment for services and efforts provided to the Estate.”
According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Prince’s siblings, Sharon, Norrine, and John Nelson, have filed a petition for compensation in Prince’s estate.
While Prince left behind all his assets to his six siblings, the estate is run by Comerica Bank. The two parties have not agreed on many terms in the past. The siblings have accused Comerica of mismanaging money and leaving them out of the loop concerning major decisions regarding the estate. Comerica has denied these allegations.
Sharon, Norrine, and John say they want to continue helping out the estate but cannot continue without being compensated. The three siblings claim they have had to heavily depend on “solely on their pension, social security, personal savings and loans from friends to cover the costs needed to support the Prince Estate despite the millions paid to advisors, attorneys and others approved by the Court.”
The heirs also said that they have provided “considerable time and investment in business matters related to the Estate. Unlike others, who have performed services for the Prince Estate, the three have not received any financial sums for numerous and repeated services they have contributed to the Estate.”
A judge has not yet ruled in the case.
Issa Rae’s ‘Insecure’ Will Be Turned Into A Video Game By Women-Of-Color Developers!
Following the fourth season premiere of Insecure on April 12, a mobile video game based off the series will be released as well, according to Vibe.
The game, titled The Come Up Game, will transform the characters from the series into virtual animated figures. The game is being developed by Glow Up Games.
“When we approached Insecure, the stakes got high,” Latoya Peterson, Glow Up Games CxO said. “You don’t see a lot of of-color IP being adapted into the game space. It doesn’t mean that shows like Girlfriends, Living Single, and Martin don’t deserve games. Or, you know, Atlanta or Black-ish. But they just don’t get them. We knew this was going to be a high-profile adaptation.”
Insecure creator Issa Rae has also been hands-on in the process of creating ‘Come Up.’
“The Come Up Game is a perfect, natural extension of Insecure. I’m so excited to give our viewers a chance to explore Issa Dee’s world,” said Rae. “The Glow Up Games team has been amazing to work with, and it was such a rewarding experience to create this game alongside an all women of color-led team.”
The Come Up Game will allow players to create the lives that they design for them. Players will also get the chance to explore and unlock different areas of Los Angeles for a deeper life meaning, whether it’s joining the dating scene or helping the advancement of their community.
Different features of the game will allow players to unleash their inner rap star to mimic Issa’s classic mirror-free styles from the show, and design their own life, choosing from hundreds of options to create the perfect character, being the boss by running Los Angeles and impacting their community according to Shadow and Act.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“Throughout the three seasons of Insecure, one thing we’ve heard over and over is how fans wish they could be friends with Issa, Molly, Kelli, and Tiffany in real life. When Glow Up Games approached us about creating an in-world Insecure mobile game, we jumped on the opportunity,” said Director of Licensing and Retail at HBO, Will Price. “The Come Up Game has surpassed our highest expectations, and we can’t wait for fans to start playing in their own Insecure universe!”
Dr. Mitu Khandaker, CEO of Glow Up Games, also spoke on the importance of the game with Teen Vogue, stating “that this is a step in the right direction in promoting this form of storytelling in a video game format.”
“And that’s not even counting the enormous issue of representation in games. So, we were super excited for the opportunity to create Insecure: The Come Up Game, because it’s time that games did things differently and lifted up more black and brown women — as both playable characters, and behind the scenes, as developers,” Khandaker continued.
The game will be made available in the Apple Store and will join the Google Play Store later this year.
“We could not be more excited to be working on Insecure: The Come Up Game. We’ve been inspired by the way that Issa Rae continues to make huge waves in television and media when it comes to telling diverse stories — and we want to bring about the same kind of change for games! As huge fans of the show, we’re excited to help players become a part of Issa’s world — and see themselves represented accurately,” Khandaker explained.
Veteran Trauma Center Doctor Ming Lin Fired For Calling Out Hospital’s Lack Of Protective Measures For Hospital Staff!
Bellingham, Washington’s PeaceHealth St. Joseph Medical Center has fired an emergency room doctor who publicly called-out what he called a lack of protective measures against the coronavirus at the hospital.
Ming Lin, a 17-year veteran ER doctor at the hospital, has also worked ER at a trauma center near the World Trade Center during 9/11, became a local celebrity for voicing the concerns over the lack of urgent measures to protect the hospital’s staff.
Lin says he was informed of his termination as he was preparing to start his shift Friday afternoon.
”I got a message that said, ‘Your shift has been covered,’” Lin told The Seattle Times. After phoning his supervisor, Lin was officially told, he was terminated.
More than a week ago, Lin spoke to reporters and made social media posts accusing PeaceHealth that they lack the sense of urgency to protect the staff from the virus. In return for his outcry, Lin said supervisors made threats to his employment.
Going against the demands that he remove his social media post, Lin continued to regularly post updates on his Facebook account.
Lin had written that PeaceHealth St. Joseph refused to screen patients outside the hospital, and instead piled them into the waiting area where the virus could quickly spread.
Two anonymous emergency department workers told The Times they shared Lin’s concerns about the spread of infection because of that practice.
PeaceHealth St. Joseph is the only emergency facility for some 250,000 people in Washington’s northwest corner.
Numerous hospital staff has tested positive for the virus, the hospital’s chief executive, Charles Prosper, said earlier in the week but insisted that none of the cases were work-related.
Lin said he had gained an abundance of support from residents and health care workers in Bellingham.
I’ll be OK,” said Lin, ”It’s a blow to my ego more than anything.”
