Alicia Keys for The Sunday Times Style - 9th February 2020!
As a multi-platinum-selling artist, it is likely Alicia Keys isn’t exactly short on funds.
However, the singer, 39, has revealed she limits the number of toys she buys her children because she wants to raise them to understand the value of money and have gratitude.
Speaking to The Sunday Times’ Style magazine, the mum-of-two explained how she is a stricter parent than rapper husband Swiss Beatz, 41, to their young sons Egypt, nine, and Genesis, five.
Giving an example, she noted that at the toy shop she’ll only let her kids buy one item, even if they want more.
Alicia said: “We talk a lot about wealth. What makes you wealthy? Definitely not money.
“It’s a distraction. Don’t matter if you have a billion dollars. You don’t have your health — it’s not a fun life, right?”
Her other half - whom she first met as a teenager - is the more relaxed parent.
“Their dad loves fancy cars, the latest spaceship,” she admitted.
“The kids are, like, ‘Can Dad pick me up?’”
Alicia also helps out with her husband’s children from previous relationships, including 19-year-old son Prince Nasir Dean, 13-year-old son Kasseem Dean Jr. and 11-year-old Nicole Dean.
The star is now friends with his ex-wife Mashonda, 42, following their divorce in 2010 after the trio had counselling.
While she has said that she has never seen a therapist, she did see a life coach for a period.
Alicia said: “Every time I would talk to her, I would leave angry. I was angry because she was calling me on all my s**t.”
In 2016, the singer revealed she was embarking on a make-up free journey and would be limiting the products she uses.
Make-up artist Dotti, who prepares her minimal looks for TV appearances or red carpet events, told W magazine that she apply individual lashes to the star’s brows to fill in any sparse areas and accentuates her freckles with Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer.
Sir Elton John also recently opened up about how he is choosing to bring up his children.
After suffering a “fearful” childhood, the pop star, 72, said he will never smack or shout at his kids when disciplining them.
He shares two sons - Zachary, nine, and six-year-old Elijah - with husband David Furnish, 57.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Elton said he prefers to parent using calm words instead.
The singer explained: “I was determined I was not going to hit them, I was determined I was not going to shout at them.”
#RHOA: Porsha Williams Opens Up About Intimacy Issues with Dennis McKinley After His Infidelity!
Porsha Williams and her fiancé Dennis McKinley returned to therapy on Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta to discuss their intimacy issues in the wake of his shocking affair.
In an emotional chat with Dr. Sherry Blake, the couple — who had only recently gotten back together and re-engaged after their headline-making split — opened up about their disconnect in the bedroom, with Williams revealing that she’s been closed off to McKinley’s sexual advances since she learned that he had cheated on him while she was pregnant with their daughter Philar Jhena (now 10 months old).
“When we are up and moving about the house, when we are like that, we are pretty much exactly the way we were before,” said Williams, 38. “But when we go into our room? Literally since he put the ring back on my finger … um … it’s lik e… I don’t know. It’s like a mental block … I don’t really know how to say it … “
“For some reason when we get in the room and the light is turned off, I feel … it doesn’t feel right anymore,” she continued. “I love Dennis, but there is a block because of the hurt.”
She added: “I don’t think he gets how much I loved him wholeheartedly, so to share any of that is just really really hard for me to get over. Just for you to put your body next to someone is just something that is hurtful, you know what I’m saying?”
Williams said she was worried her reluctance could push McKinley, 43, away — and into the arms of someone else.
The two dated for a year before getting engaged in September 2019, just two months after Williams learned she was pregnant with their daughter. And while their love was strong, as seen on their own Bravo spinoff, McKinley’s affair totally came out of the blue — leaving Williams insecure he would do it again.
“I’m also fearful ’cause women feel like we have to hold on to a man, and that is always in my mind,” Williams told McKinley. “That if I tell you exactly how I feel about the intimacy, that you’ll be like, ‘Oh hell, this about to be a whole year. She about to not have sex with me. Let me go figure something else out.’ So I just don’t know how to tell you this.”
“On one hand, I have to get comfortable to open my body up to him,” she explained to audiences. “But on the other hand, an intimacy issue can cause him to do the very thing that hurt me before, which is cheat. So I’m having to double trust him at the same time. Which is tough.”
McKinley said Williams’ closed attitude toward him has been “a lot” to handle.
“I’m not the only one who has got to do some work,” he said. “We’ve talked about me and me and me and me and me for the longest, but that is a good example that Porsha also has to do some work. Like, I can’t read her mind.”
He also criticized Williams for “grinding” him, or drilling him with non-stop questions.
But Dr. Sherry reframed that for McKinley. “You understand why she’s asking? Because you will have to be totally transparent. And you may have to answer the same question 10 times. That is for her healing,” the therapist said. “You have to be patient and ask her, ‘What is it you need at this moment to feel safe?’ I understand this is heavy, but it’s necessary.”
“Dennis is strong, too,” Dr. Sherry told Williams. “He’s here because he wants an honest relationship. And when you rebuild, sometimes even sex and intimacy is shattered. So we’re rebuilding.”
In the end, Williams acknowledged that she was ready to do the work, telling McKinley, “I’m bringing it this up to you because it’s something that I now have to deal with.”
“I feel like we’ve been doing good with the cards that we’ve been dealt,” she said. “First of all and foremost, I have never been cheated on in a serious relationship before. I don’t know what the road to forgiveness looks like. I’m just in the middle of this right now.”
“That’s something that we have to figure out together,” McKinley told her.
Since then, it appears the two have been doing just that.
During a December 2019 visit to Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Williams said that they were a work in progress. She had similar things to say in January when she stopped by the same show, just as photos surfaced of McKinley out with a group of women at an Atlanta diner at 4. a.m.
“We’re working on our relationship. I think every relationship is a work in progress. We have a daughter together. Just pray for us. You know, you pray for yourselves? Add us in there too, baby,” she told Cohen. “Can y’all just continue to comment and speculate and let me just figure out my life? I’m figuring out my life.”
None of that seems to have slowed down Williams’ plan to get married. She told Cohen in December that while the two “don’t have a set date yet,” the wedding “will be next year.”

#MusicNews: Janet Jackson Announces ‘Black Diamond’ Album and Tour!
The music icon and international superstar has announced the forthcoming album, Black Diamond, her first in over four years, and a North American area tour for summer 2020.
Produced by Live Nation, the trek kicks off on June 24 in Miami and journeys across the U.S. and Canada, with stops in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Toronto, Dallas, New York, and Los Angeles, before wrapping on Aug. 23 in Tacoma, Wash. She will also perform at the Essence Festival and Cincinnati Music Festival in July. International dates will be announced in the near future.
“I’ve heard all your wishes and I’m working on my new album and going on a new World Tour this summer titled ‘Black Diamond,'” tweeted Jackson. “I’m so excited to share this new era with you.”
In addition to new music, Jackson will perform songs from her 12 multi-platinum albums including a special performance of Rhythm Nation 1814, which marked its 30th anniversary last year. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Feb. 13, with a pre-sale starting Feb. 11.
Black Diamond will follow Jackson’s 2015 project, Unbreakable, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Nicki Minaj fans have been patiently waiting for a Kendrick Lamar collaboration.Following the release of her new song “Yikes,” Nicki returned with her first Queen Radio episode of the decade on Monday. During the episode, the Queen revealed why she has yet to collaborate with King Kendrick.
“The reason why I haven’t collaborated with Kendrick Lamar yet is because he don’t want to get washed,” joked Nicki.
She went on to express her admiration for the Pulitzer Prize-winning rapper. “I’m a big fan of him and his talent and I’m looking forward to collaborating with him one day hopefully because he’s animated and I like the animation. And also, he just respects the craft of rap and at this time right now…” she laughed before trailing off.
Kendrick has shown Nicki love in the past. On her “Make Love” collaboration with Gucci Mane, she referenced the Compton MC: “Bitch I’m the greatest, no Kendrick and no Sia / I’m the iPhone, you the Nokia.” After hearing the name drop, Kendrick tweeted: “I love it Nicki Minaj,” prompting Nicki to reply, “I knew you would 😜 ha! Thx Kendrick.”
During Monday’s episode of Queen Radio, Nicki also welcomed special guests Karol G, Meghan Trainor, Maliibu Miitch, and 50 Cent, who has been one of her most loyal supporters. “50 Cent is one of the only people who always had my back,” said Nicki.
Vanessa Bryant grieves husband Kobe and daughter Gigi: 'I can't process both at the same time'!
Vanessa Bryant continues to share her grief after the unimaginable tragedy of losing her husband, Kobe, and their 13-year-old daughter, Gianna.
“My brain refuses to accept that both Kobe and Gigi are gone,” she wrote. “I can’t process both at the same time. It’s like I’m trying to process Kobe being gone but my body refuses to accept my Gigi will never come back to me. It feels wrong. Why should I be able to wake up another day when my baby girl isn’t being able to have that opportunity?!”
Father and daughter, along with seven others, died when their helicopter crashed over Calabasas, Calif., on Jan. 26. They had been on their way to a basketball game, in which Gianna, nicknamed “Gigi,” was supposed to play at Kobe’s Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, Calif.
Vanessa acknowledged that she needs to stay strong for her three other daughters: Natalia, 17; Bianka, 3; and 7-month-old Capri.
She explained why she’s talked so openly about how she’s feeling since losing her loved ones.
“I just wanted to share in case there’s anyone out there that’s experienced a loss like this,” she wrote.
Vanessa, who married the NBA star in 2001, has written about Kobe and Gigi several times, beginning Jan. 29. She’s shared family photos and footage from a jersey retirement ceremony for Gigi at the teen’s school, as well as a notice about a public memorial for both Bryants on Feb. 24 in L.A.
As she has in previous posts, Vanessa on Monday asked for prayers for the other families affected by the heartbreaking tragedy.
Camila Cabello To Star In Upcoming Remake Of ’Cinderella’ Alongside Missy Elliott and Billy Porter!
’Cinderella’ is getting yet another remake, this time with some big names attached to it.
The Kay Cannon-written and directed film is slated to be released on February 5th, 2021. Singer Camila Cabello has been cast to portray the film’s main character, accompanied by Billy Porter as the gender-neutral Fairy Godmother and Idina Menzel as the wicked stepmother. However, the most surprising casting announcement came when rapper and producer Missy Elliott was announced as the Town Crier, Deadline reports. Fans across social media celebrated Missy’s role in the upcoming film.
Tony winner James Corden, John Mulaney, and comedian Romesh Ranganathan will also serve as the ever so helpful mice in the film.
This latest version of” Cinderella” joins several adaptations of the film, which includes the 1997 version starring Brandy and Whitney Houston, the 2013 Broadway musical, and the 2015 Disney live-action remake of the 1950 animated film.
‘The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel’ to air 4/11!
Lifetime has released the official trailer for the highly anticipated biopic The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel. The movie debuts Saturday, April 11 at 8 p.m. EST.
As previously reported, the film recounts the story of the highest selling female gospel group in history and of their trailblazing mother, Mattie Moss Clark (Aunjanue Ellis). Credited with bringing Gospel music to the mainstream, the five Clark sisters (Christina Bell as “Twinkie,” Kierra Sheard as “Karen,” Sheléa Frazier as “Dorinda,” Raven Goodwin as “Denise,” Angela Birchett as “Jacky”) overcame humble beginnings in Detroit, enduring abuse, loss, rejection, betrayal, and sibling rivalries to achieve international fame as icons of the Gospel music industry.

Amber Rose debuts huge face tattoo dedicated to sons Sebastian and Slash!
Amber Rose got a permanent tribute to her children — on her face. The model, 36, debuted a huge forehead tattoo with “Bash” and “Slash,” the names of her two children, written in cursive.
Rose shares 7-year-old son Sebastian Taylor Thomaz — who goes by Bash — with ex-husband Wiz Khalifa; she just welcomed her new baby, Slash Electric Alexander Edwards, with boyfriend Alexander “AE” Edwards in October.
Rose showed off the new ink while sneaker shopping with CoolKicks, an LA footwear store, for a YouTube video. She has not yet posted the tattoo on her Instagram or otherwise addressed the eyebrow-raising look.
A tattoo isn’t the only change Rose made to her body after giving birth; she also had liposuction just six weeks postpartum.
Lil Nas X Fires Back At Claims That He Stole ‘Rodeo’ From Producer Don Lee!
A lawsuit filed in federal court back in October by music producer Brandon Lee aka Don Lee accused Lil Nas X, Cardi B, and Sony Music and Columbia Records of ripping him off for the Lil Nas X track, “Rodeo.”
In the docs, Lee accused all parties of copyright infringement. He claimed that he wrote a track titled, “gwenXdonlee4-142”, which was then incorporated into another song called “Broad Day.” Allegedly, Lil Nas and Cardi B ripped off his version without permission or compensation. Lee pointed out the tempo and instrument similarities as well.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving onto their next phase of life and it includes some members of the Hollywood industry.
After attending a private Florida investment summit, which was sponsored by JPMorgan in Miami on Thursday (February 6), the two joined Jennifer Lopez and fiancé Alex Rodriguez on a double date at the 1Hotel South Beach's restaurant Habitat, as per E! News. Another source told Page Six, which was the first outlet to report the news, Lopez invited the entire family, including baby Archive, to their 305 residence. "Harry and Meghan got on really well with Jennifer and Alex, and spent some time chatting with them over dinner," an insider revealed. "J.Lo was overheard inviting the couple and their baby Archie to her and Alex's house in Miami to spend time with them and their kids."
Miami remains a special place for the latter couple as they have homes in the area and Lopez had just co-headlined the Super Bowl LIV halftime show with Shakira days earlier.

It’s been a tough and heartbreaking month. Only a few weeks have passed since news broke of the fatal helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Bryant and his daughter. Along with the Bryants was a beloved Orange County family. The family was identified as John and Keri Altobelli and the couple’s 14-year-old daughter, Alyssa.
The family of three was honored during a public memorial at the Angel Stadium in Anaheim, according to NBC Los Angeles. The stadium seats 45,000, which will cater to those who wish to remember the family that was reportedly very close to Orange County and the baseball community. John Altobelli coached baseball for 27 years at Coast College in Costa Mesa, NBC Los Angeles reports.

The hashtag #IStandWithGayle trended throughout the day Monday, with several celebrities and journalists voicing support for Gayle King amid the controversy surrounding her recent interview about Kobe Bryant.
Since news surfaced that the CBS This Morning co-anchor has been receiving death threats for mentioning Bryant’s sexual assault allegation while interviewing former WNBA star Lisa Leslie, a growing number of celebs have taken to social media to say they support King.
Among those standing behind the newscaster is Living Single and Black Lightning actress Erika Alexander.

In spite of Blac Chyna's fame, seeing her at the Oscars on Sunday night came as a surprise to many who spotted her on the red carpet and in her seat.
Why would Chyna be at this A-list event, especially since she’s not in any nominated films and has nothing to do with them?
She surely wasn’t at the awards show with anyone associated with the Kardashians after the back and forth battle with her ex, Rob. As TMZ reports, “Rob just filed new legal docs seeking primary custody of their 3-year-old daughter, Dream. He claims his baby mama is out of control.”
Apparently, she did have an “in,” thanks to Music Producer Christopher Trujillo, who took Chyna along as his “plus one,” as reported by People.
For those who haven’t a clue who Trujillo is, People notes, “Christopher Trujillo has worked as a recording engineer on albums by Ariana Grande, Fifth Harmony, and Mariah Carey. He also worked on the soundtracks for the 2012 rom-com Think Like a Man and the 2010 drama film For Colored Girls.”
Are Trujillo and Chyna dating, or are they working together in some capacity? Rumors are swirling, and Chyna’s Instagram video caused an online stir as she headed to the Oscars.
Chyna’s ex may actually be happy if she has found someone new, as long as she’s being a good mom to their daughter Dream. With her focus on another fellow, the drama between the two may die down.
Let’s see if Chyna reveals more about her “mystery man.” She’s not one to keep her personal life under wraps, so we're sure she’ll spill the beans before we know it.
