Lupita Nyong'o Graces the February Fashion & Film Cover for British Vogue
This is the Kenyan actor's first British Vogue cover. Lupita Nyong'o is British Vogue's February cover star for their "Fashion & Film" issue. This is also the Kenyan actor's first time gracing a British Vogue cover.
"2020 is looking bright," she exclaims on Twitter. "My first British Vogue cover thanks to Edward Enninful."
For Enninful, selecting Nyong'o for this issue was a no brainer once he saw her outstanding performance in Us.
"Sometimes, a performance can move you so profoundly that you leave the cinema positively reeling. This was my experience all the way back in March last year, when I first saw Lupita Nyong'o take on her double role in Jordan Peele's brilliant and unsettling movie Us," he explains in his editor's note. "I called my team straightaway. I instantly knew I wanted her for the cover of this year's Fashion and Film issue, our third annual celebration of the best cinema performances of the previous 12 months."
As we wait for the interview to drop once the February issue hits newsstands on Jan. 3, take a look at Nyong'o working the camera with photography by Steven Meisel below.
In case you missed it, Nyong'o recently made an appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, where she touched on her host of nominations for her role in Us, her role in the newest Star Wars installment, her debut children's book Sulwe and more. Revisit their conversation here.
#RHOA: #TWIRL Kenya Moore Prays Her 'Heart Can Be Open To Forgiveness' In 2020 Following Split From Husband Marc!
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore took to Instagram on Tuesday, December 31 to reflect on the events of 2019 and express her hopes for 2020. The reality star thanked her fans for their support and revealed that she was praying her heart could be “open to forgiveness” in the new year.
2019 was full of both amazing joy and painful heartache for Kenya. She delighted in watching her daughter Brooklyn grow and celebrate her first birthday in November. However, she shocked fans by announcing her split from husband Marc Daly.
"#TeamTwirl you are truly my riders. I love you guys so much ... not just for liking my photos but for genuinely being invested in my happiness. 2019 #topnine has been a year of great joy — having @thebrooklyndaly as an infant and watching her grow and thrive and inspire so many people. As you can see ... you loved my family photos the most. I pray that my heart can be open to forgiveness, understanding and compassion. I pray for the same for those I have hurt. I truly have an angel in my life ... more than one and God has never given me anything I cannot handle. God bless all if you and may all your dreams, desires and prayers come true in the next decade. Kenya," she captioned a collage of her
"Beautifully stated. Happy new year," costar Porsha Williams wrote in the comments section of her post. "I hope things work in your favor and God will unite your family. All the best!" another fan added. "You have handled the hardships of this year like a true queen. You are a true inspiration to everyone that follows along on your journey," a third person noted.
Kenya confirmed that she and Marc were calling it quits after just two years of marriage in September. "It is with profound sadness that I regret to inform my fans that I am divorcing my husband Marc Daly. Due to recent and ongoing circumstances, I can no longer continue in the marriage. My sole concern and focus is and will always be my daughter, Brooklyn, my miracle baby. She was made in love and true commitment. I ask for our privacy to be respected moving forward," Kenya said in a statement at the time.
Her breakup wasn't the only hurdle she had to face. She was confronted with a lot of drama after returning to RHOA. On the December 22 episode of the hit show, Kandi Burruss scolded Kenya for almost ruining Cynthia Bailey's fiancΓ© Mike Hills' proposal.
Kenya has also been at war with NeNe Leakes. During her appearance on Watch What Happens Live in November, Kenya declared that there was no possibility of a future friendship between her and NeNe after the events that have transpired. Kenya didn't hold back when a fan called in to the show and asked if they could expect to see the two ladies "in a better place" anytime soon. "The answer about NeNe is absolutely not. I think she's pretty much dead to me. When someone tried to spit on you, I think they're not ever gonna be friends with you. So, yeah. That's pretty much done," she quipped.
What do you think about Kenya's wishes for 2020?

#HipHopNews: YG Apologizes To Lgbtq Community!
YG apparently went into 2020 with a new mind state.
Just 10 minutes after the clock struck 12 on Jan. 1, 2020, the Cali rapper hopped on Twitter to offer an apology for any past transgressions against the LGBTQ community.
"It’s been brought to my attention that my old views on life was ignorant," YG posted. "I apologize to the LGBTQ kommunity for ever komin across like i was anything but respectful and accepting. Live. Love. Ya Life. Gang."
The rapper's statement received mixed reviews from fans. Many were excited to see the growth he had just shown. "Happy new year G! I used to use language and act a certain way as well that was unkind to that community. Growth is progress," one person commented.
Others saw it as something he was just saying to placate Kehlani, who identifies as queer. YG and Kehlani reportedly started dating in September 2019. However, rumors of infidelity from the rapper arose in November. Last month, Kehlani posted and deleted a tweet where she claimed to be single. Neither artist has officially addressed their status.
"He only saying that to appease to kehlani," another Twitter user opined.
"Is YG HACKED?" someone else questioned, wondering if it was even YG who was actually tweeting.
New year, new YG?

Gordon’s death comes nearly five years after Brown, the daughter of singers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, was found face-down and unresponsive in a bathtub in January 2015. She died after six months in a coma.
Investigators with the medical examiner’s office were not able to determine exactly how Brown died. An autopsy showed that she had morphine, cocaine, alcohol and prescription drugs in her body, but the medical examiner couldn’t determine if she killed herself, if someone else killed her or if her death was accidental.
Her family blamed Gordon, accusing him in the lawsuit of giving her a “toxic cocktail” before putting her face-down in the water.
Gordon was never charged in the case, but he was found responsible in a wrongful death lawsuit. An Atlanta judge ordered him to pay $36 million to Brown’s estate.
Gordon’s attorney confirmed his death on Wednesday. Houston brought Gordon into her household as an orphan at the age of 12, raising him and her daughter after divorcing Bobby Brown in 2007. Gordon wore a large tattoo of Houston’s face on his arm and called the singer “mom,” but she never fully adopted him or included him in the will. After Houston’s death, Gordon and Bobbi Kristina went public with their romance.
“Despite all of the incredible challenges Nick faced over the last few years I can honestly say that he worked hard to hold his head up and stay sober and that he genuinely wanted a happy healthy life with his family more than anything else,” Habachy said in a statement.

The 83-year-old head of the Catholic Church opened up about the incident while speaking to the crowd in St. Peter’s Square for New Year’s on Wednesday (January 1) in Vatican City.
Francis admitted to losing his patience with the woman, who grabbed his hand and pulled him toward her while he was in the square on Tuesday night to check out the Vatican’s Nativity scene.
Cameras show the pope saying something, slapping her hand so she’d let go, frowning angrily, and walking away.
“So many times we lose patience,” Pope Francis told the crowd (via the Associated Press). “Me, too. I say ‘excuse me’ for the bad example.”

‘A Quiet Place: Part II’ Trailer Suggests Humans Are The Real Monsters!
The creators of “A Quiet Place” decided to make some noise by dropping the trailer to the film’s sequel on New Year’s Day.
The clip has lots of shots of the creepy monsters that appeared in the first movie, but also suggests a possible twist: Humans may be the real monsters.
The clip shows Emily Blunt’s character trying to keep her family alive without the help of her husband, who died in the 2018 original.
The family tries to avoid the creepy monsters with the help of a survivalist played by Cillian Murphy, but he doesn’t want to follow Blunt’s desire to help her fellow victims of the alien attack.
“The people that are left aren’t the kind of people worth saving,” he says cryptically.
You can see the trailer HERE!
Although John Krasinski’s character died in the first film, he directed and wrote the screenplay for the sequel, which is set to be released March 20.
David Stern Former NBA Commissioner Who Presided Over Strong Growth DIES AT 77!
David Stern, the former commissioner of the National Basketball Association who helped fuel the sport’s popularity in overseas markets and among women, has died.
Stern died as a result of a brain hemorrhage he suffered approximately three weeks ago. His death was announced by the NBA. His wife, Dianne, and their family were with him at his bedside, the NBA said.
“For 22 years, I had a courtside seat to watch David in action. He was a mentor and one of my dearest friends,” NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in a statement Wednesday. “We spent countless hours in the office, at arenas and on planes wherever the game would take us. Like every NBA legend, David had extraordinary talents, but with him it was always about the fundamentals — preparation, attention to detail, and hard work.
“David took over the NBA in 1984 with the league at a crossroads. But over the course of 30 years as Commissioner, he ushered in the modern global NBA. He launched groundbreaking media and marketing partnerships, digital assets and social responsibility programs that have brought the game to billions of people around the world. Because of David, the NBA is a truly global brand — making him not only one of the greatest sports commissioners of all time but also one of the most influential business leaders of his generation.
“Every member of the NBA family is the beneficiary of David’s vision, generosity and inspiration. Our deepest condolences go out to David’s wife, Dianne, their sons, Andrew and Eric, and their extended family, and we share our grief with everyone whose life was touched by him.”
Stern became commissioner in 1984, a time when the game’s perception was waning in the mainstream. But the infusion of such new stars as Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, mixed with Stern’s marketing savvy, helped lead the league to new heights. He presided over a league that added seven new teams and had six relocations, and helped in the creation of the WNBA, which began in 1997 and brought new fans to the sport. TV revenue grew close to a billion dollars under his watch from $10 million, and merchandise sales went through the roof. He ended his reign in 2014.
The Stern tenure wasn’t all smooth. He also oversaw four lockouts, including those in 1998 and 2011 that shortened the regular season. He was also controversial among Los Angeles Lakers fans, vetoing a trade that would have brought guard Chris Paul to the team.
David Joel Stern was born Sept. 22, 1942, in New York City. He graduated from Rutgers and then obtained a law degree from Columbia. His first actions involved negotiations that led to the NBA’s merger with the ABA and helped bring free agency to the league.
He joined the NBA as the league’s general counsel in 1978 and succeeded Larry O’Brien as commissioner in 1984. Stern was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne; and a son, Eric. No memorial plans have been announced.
Rihanna Teams Up With Fashion Designer Adam Selman For Valentine’s Day Lingerie Collection!
Valentine’s Day is a little over a month away, and Rihanna has teamed up with fashion designer Adam Selman for a sexy lingerie collection.
Selman sat down with Instyle and talked about how the collection went from an idea to actually happening.
“I saw Rihanna, and when we went in for a hug, she whispered in my ear, ‘You have to do Savage X with me,” according to Selman.
Selman continued, “I was like, ‘Ok, sure.’ We went about our business, and a few days later, she texted me like, ‘No, I’m serious. You have to do a collaboration with us.’”
“I wanted to do something that was still in the spirit of Savage X Fenty, but give them an offering they didn’t have already. I really pushed into sexy ’80s cuts, and was inspired by ’80s lingerie and Frederick’s of Hollywood. I wanted to keep it cheeky and playful, so I added hearts, and ruffles, and a topless babydoll dress. I went almost as girly, and lovey, lovey, lovey as possible, and then I made it super sexy to counteract that.”
The sizes for the collection ranges from 32A to 42DD and XS to 3X and priced between $16 and $84. It is available to shop now on SavageX.
Ricki Lake Reveals She Was Suicidal Over Debilitating Hair Loss Issues!
Ricki Lake is revealing she has been suffering in darkness over a debilitating issue with hair loss, that the former talk show host says left her 'suicidal' at times in her life.
The former 'The Ricki Lake Show' host posted a lengthy message on social media addressing the issues and letting her fans in on her private struggle.
"Liberated and Free, Me First things first, I am not sick. (THANK GOD.) I am not having a mid-life crisis. nor am I having a mental breakdown, though I have been suffering. Suffering mostly in silence off and on for almost 30 years. AND I am finally ready to share my secret. Deep breath Ricki…. Here goes….." she began.
She continued, "I have been struggling with hair loss for most of my adult life. It has been debilitating, embarrassing, painful, scary, depressing, lonely, all the things. There have been a few times where I have even felt suicidal over it. Almost no one in my life knew the level of deep pain and trauma I was experiencing. Not even my therapist/s over the years knew my truth. I know that by sharing my truth, I will be striking a chord with so so many women and men. I am not alone in this and my goal is to help others while at the same time unshackle myself from this quiet hell I have been living in."
Ricki described the issue going back all the way to her starring role in 'Hairspray', "Ever since I played Tracy Turnblad in the original Hairspray back in 1988 and they triple-processed and teased my then healthy virgin hair every 2 weeks during filming, my hair was never the same. (Yes, that was all my own hair in the film.) From Hairspray to Hairless. :disappointed: In my case, I believe my hair loss was due to many factors, yo-yo dieting, hormonal birth control, radical weight fluctuations over the years, my pregnancies, genetics, stress, and hair dyes and extensions. Working as talent on various shows and movies, whether DWTS or my talk show, also took its toll on my fine hair. I got used to wearing extensions, really just over the last decade."
She went on to describe the arduous process of dealing with her hair over the years, saying, "All different kinds, tried them all, the ones that are glued on, the tape-ins, the clip-ins, and then into a total hair system that I hated, and finally to a unique solution that really did work pretty well for me for the last 4 or 5 years. I tried wigs on a few occasions but never could get used to them. It all felt fake and I was super self-conscious and uncomfortable."
With any medical issue comes the treatments, and Lake describes the painful issues with trying to reverse the process.
"I’ve been to many doctors, gotten steroid shots in my head, taking all the supplements and then some. My hair would recover and then shed again. It was maddening. So of late, after 2 months of bliss ‘working’ in London and after my last extreme diet where I lost 20 lbs in 6 weeks, my hair started shedding again, big time. This time, I say no more. I have to be set free. Free of the maintenance every 10-12 days, where my added hair would need to be tightened (sometimes painfully) and my gray hair would need to be colored. I felt like I was a slave to this maintenance schedule. I wouldn’t go out of town longer than 12 days, because of this. I even brought my hair fairy and dear friend, to London during my stint there to do what she needed to do to keep it on my head."
The message came on the first day of 2020, and Ricki included a message about the new year.
"Well, it is a new year and new decade and a new me. With the love and support of some of my dearest friends, John Bonny, Mandy Ingber, Sarah Havana Prats, and Jeff Scult, I buzzed my hair off and it feels so good! Huge heartfelt thank you to my dear friend Amanda Demme for photographing and capturing this pivotal moment in my life. I am liberated. I am free. I am releasing and letting go. I am brave. I am beautiful I am love."
She ended the message with this, "For 2020 and beyond, I want to be real. (I will on occasion choose to wear hair, but now it is for fun, not because I am hiding anything. I am so done with hiding.) Happy New Year and decade to all!"
