#EMPIRE Claims Victory For Fox In Wednesday Demo Ratings Battle
Returns of Empire and Star to Fox’s primetime lineup put Fox in first place on Wednesday night in the key demo.
Empire (2.0 demo rating, 6.14 million viewers) returned to the schedule with a demo rating up 5% compared to its fall finale (1.9 on Dec. 13) but 29% below its March 22, 2017 spring return episode’s 2.8.
Empire aired at 9 PM last season; Fox moved it to 8 to play lead-in for Star.
Empire and Star (1.5, 4.70M) both won their timeslots in the key 18-49 age bracket, to take the top two demo among scripted series for the night.
At 8 PM CBS’s Survivor: Ghost Island (1.7, 8.11M) beat NBC’s The Voice (1.3, 6.90M) clip job by more than 1M total viewers, and Empire by nearly 2M, becoming the most watched Wednesday show for a fifth week in a row. That said, Survivor matched a season low in the demo, and hit its season low in total viewers.
CBS finished first for the night in overall audience with assists from SEAL Team (1.9, 6.54M) and from Criminal Minds’ (1.1, 6.51M) boosted numbers.
NBC followed its Voice clip show with a 10 PM Andrew Lloyd Webber Tribute to a Superstar (0.6, 3.3M).

Songwriters Who Sued Taylor Swift Fight Back Against Her Bid to Stick Them with Her Legal Bill
The songwriters who sued Taylor Swift claiming she ripped off their lyrics for “Shake It Off” are refusing to pay her $72,000 legal bill after they lost in court, saying she is rich enough to pay her own damn bills.
Last year, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler sued Swift accusing her of ripping off their 2001 song, “Playas Gon’ Play” (performed by the group 3LW). They claimed in her song, “Shake it Off,” she stole the chorus by using the phrases “playas gonna play” and “haters gonna hate.”
The judge dismissed the lawsuit in February, stating the use of the phrases did not constitute copyright infringement.
Then in March, Swift went back to court and demanded the songwriters be put on the hook for her $72,276 legal bill. Her lawyer explains prior to the songwriters filing suit, they demanded Swift pay them $30 million dollars to avoid a lawsuit.
Swift claims her team warned the plaintiffs before they sued, arguing they had no case. She believes awarding her the $72k will deter the songwriters and others from filing such claims in the future.
On March 26, Hall and Butler went to court opposing Swift’s attempt to have them pay her legal bills.
The songwriters say Swift’s baseless motion is meant to punish them for seeking protection of their creative expression. They argue their claims were factually and legally substantiated and weren’t unreasonable. They claim the $30 million settlement offer is inappropriate to bring up in court docs, saying settlement offers are often made for strategic purposes.
Hall and Butler say Swift is an extremely successful artist and songwriter — who has sold over 9 million copies of “Shake it Off” — and she should be able to handle her own legal bills.
They are demanding the judge shut down Swift’s motion or drastically reduce the amount she is requesting they pay.
The case is ongoing.
Tyler Perry’s ‘Acrimony’ Debut at the box office in 2nd Place with 17,000,000.00$
Earth hath no fury like a Woman scorned LOL! Lionsgate's release of Tyler Perry's Acrimony delivered a healthy $17.1 million from 2,006 theaters for a $8,524 per theater average. The film received an "A-" CinemaScore from opening day audiences and played to a crowd that was 74% female and 85% of the overall audience was over the age of 25. The film's opening is within the range of Perry's The Family that Preys (2008) and For Colored Girls (2010), both of which went on to gross $37 million.
While many have given the film mixed reviesws. I personally gave it a B-. However, Taraji P Henson is FANTASTIC in her role!
#NCAA: And there were 2! Villanova will face Michigan in NCAA title game
SAN ANTONIO — The roof could have been removed from the Alamodome. Rain could have flooded the court. The basketball could have been replaced with a golf ball.
Villanova would have shrugged, adjusted, and sunk another 3-pointer. The Wildcats have done it better than any team in history.
This season, they’ve done almost everything better than everyone.
Two years after its record-setting 44-point win over Oklahoma in the Final Four, No. 1 Villanova returned to the national semifinals with another eye-popping performance Saturday night, hitting a record 18 3-pointers, and setting the all-time Division I single-season record for 3s, while stomping its way to a 95-79 win over fellow No. 1-seeded Kansas.
The Wildcats (35-4) will meet third-seeded Michigan (33-7) in Monday night’s national championship , looking to capture their second title in three years — following a 31-year drought — and become just the fourth team since 1985 to win as many championships in as short of a span. With another ring, Jay Wright would become just the third active coach with multiple national titles.
“You can’t even say it’s a dream come true. You don’t dream about getting two out of three years,” Wright said. “It’s hard to even comprehend it.”
Villanova, which has set the record for the most wins in a four-year span (135) in Division I history, is just the fifth team to reach the national title game by winning each round by double-digits.
This year, Wright brings his “best offensive team” ever, which has now hit an NCAA Tournament record 66 3-pointers, and blew by VMI’s 11-year-old seasonal 3-point mark (442) after hitting 18 of 40 shots from the perimeter against Kansas.
“That was just one of those nights,” Wright said. “I feel bad for Kansas. They’re a great team. We just made every shot.”
So many nights have looked the same from the highest-scoring team in the nation. So many games have started the same, with all intrigue stripped before the second commercial break.
Villanova spread the floor, and shared the ball, and sprinted out to a 22-4 lead, leaving Kansas defenders scrambling to cover five perimeter threats on the court at once, failing even after switching to a zone.
On the floor where the Jayhawks (31-8) won the 2008 championship, Bill Self suffered his worst tournament loss with Kansas.
“That’s as good a team as we’ve played against that I can remember,” Self said. “The way Villanova played, we would’ve had to have played a perfect basketball game.”
On a roster with championship experience (Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Phil Booth), the Wildcats received their biggest contributions from their least experienced starters.
Fordham transfer Eric Paschall scored career-high 24 points, hitting all but one of his 11 shots. Freshman Omari Spellman posted 15 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
Six players scored in double-figures, seven hit a 3-pointer.
“They were shooting lights out,” Kansas’ Udoka Azubuike said. “It was unreal. I have never seen that before.”
It is unlike anything the sport has ever seen, unlike anything defenses have ever encountered.
It was a bayonet against a butter knife, a lion against a lamb, Tyson vs. Spinks.
The Alamodome could have gone dark. The Wildcats could have lost their sneakers, and they’d still have found a way to make shot after shot.
The best were at their very best. No one could look any better.
“That’s all we’ve worked for,” Brunson said, “is to be the best team we can be by the end of the year.”
GOOD LUCK!

#LOL! Quickly as She Started Stacey Dash has Drops Her Bid for Congress!
Stacey Dash has decided to end her bid for public office just a month after she announced she was running.
She was seeking the seat in the House of Representatives in California’s 44th Congressional District.
The “Clueless” star wrote on her website, “At this point, I believe that the overall bitterness surrounding our political process, participating in the rigors of campaigning, and holding elected office would be detrimental to the health and wellbeing of my family. I would never want to betray the personal and spiritual principles I believe in most: that my God and my family come first.”
She added, “My political positions have often been labeled as controversial, but the real controversy is how decades of government corruption and political disempowerment have created a system where skyrocketing home prices, dirty needles in the streets, and long bus trips to other districts for jobs are somehow considered acceptable by the government officials representing the 44th District.”
Dash ended her announcement by saying, “The people living here deserve better. I will continue to speak out about these and other problems facing this district, as well as the distractions that take the place of real change. I am grateful for the prayers, love, and support I have received. Deciding to withdraw my candidacy was a difficult choice, but I have to go where I feel God is leading me.”
Diddy Tried to Pay For Craig Mack’s Funeral But the Late Rapper’s Religious Group Blocked It
It’s been over two weeks since the rapper Craig Mack passed away in South Carolina from heart failure, and some details about his funeral have emerged.
According to DJ Scratch, a longtime friend of Mack, Diddy tried to pay for his burial, but the South Carolina based religious group that he belonged to wouldn’t allow it. Mack was the first artist that Diddy signed to his Bad Boy record label when it started in 1993
“When I left Craig’s memorial service I called @Diddy to thank him for giving Craig the platform for the world to know Craig Mack’s music,” wrote Scratch in a now-deleted message. “I told him I just left the service, he said ‘They buried Craig already? What service are you talking about?’ He didn’t know about the memorial service.”
“Diddy offered to pay for Craig Mack’s funeral,” Scratch continued. “But the religious community Craig was in declined. None of his friends or colleagues were allowed to attend his funeral. Diddy respected their wishes. Craig was immediately buried on the property where he lived.”
The property that Scratch referred to is owned by the religious group The Overcomer Ministry, which has been called a cult by former members. Mack joined the group in 2011, and many found out when a video surfaced of him rapping inside a church in 2012.
Mack talked about joining the religious group during an interview with Alvin Toney, one of his longtime friends and producers. Toney filmed Mack for an upcoming documentary in his South Carolina home just weeks before he passed away.
Also, the group’s leader Gordon Stair — a self-proclaimed prophet — was charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor and burglary after he was accused of raping both women and children. Stair would later plead those charges down to assault and battery, however.
During Toney’s interview, the late rapper said he joined the religious group after having a gun in his lap and thought about killing someone. Mack then went into his car to find music to calm down, and that’s when he heard a sermon from Stair on the radio.

“I knew that it was God talking to me, because of the way it made me feel emotionally,” said Mack. “I broke down crying all over the place in the car, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry. I was thinking about trying to do this to somebody.’”
Toney also asked Mack about Stair’s rape charges and based on his answer, the producer realized just how deep into the group his late friend was.
“Your preacher just got arrested … for having sex with a 12-year-old,” he told Mack. “How do you take that?”
“‘I will forgive him, because we forgave the people that killed Jesus,’” Toney said Mack replied. “At that point, he was all in.”

Ballerina Misty Copeland claps back at haters on Instagram
Misty Copeland became a cultural icon as the first African American prima ballerina. Seeing a Black ballerina in a national spotlight inspired young Black girls all over the world to sign up for ballet classes and it empowered ballet students giving them a visual of what they wanted to achieve. While much of the media hype around Copeland has been positive there are some that aren’t happy to see major productions like Swan Lake starring a black woman in a principal role.
After a recent production of Swan Lake, one of Copeland’s haters hooped on Instagram to explain why Copeland should never have been appointed to such an integral role. Instead of blocking the negative post, Copeland reposted the negative quote on her personal Instagram account and gave her rebuttal.
Copeland’s retort was both humble and classy as she gave her perspective on the art of ballet:
“I’m happy to share this because I will forever be a work in progress and will never stop learning. I learn from seeing myself on film and rarely get to. So thank you. I will always reiterate that I am by no means the best in ballet. I understand my position and what I represent. I know that I’m in a very unique position and have been given a rare platform. All I’ve ever wanted to do is bring ballet to more people and to help diversify it. I’ve worked extremely hard to be where I am and I believe that what I bring to the table is authentic artistry with a unique point of view through my life experiences and my unusual path and upbringing. Also as a black woman and black ballerina, I would love to see all of the incredible black dancers get the opportunities that I have.”
Kudos to Copeland for taking her hater’s negativity and using it as a platform to inform and educate others and to acknowledge the fact that until she was appointed to principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, African Americans in major ballet productions were unheard of. We support you Misty and will continue to cheer you on!
Baton Rouge Police Department Fires Blane Salamoni, Officer Who Murdered Alton Sterling, Body Cam Video Released
Blane Salamoni, the police officer who murdered Alton Sterling in cold blood, has been fired by the Baton Rouge Police Department.
Officer Howie Lake II, who was also involved in the shooting death of Alton Sterling was only suspended for three days. I’m sure with pay.
The police department released the video from Salamoni’s body cam and it is crystal clear that he came to that corner store with every intention of killing Alton Sterling.
Blane Salamoni immediately threatened to shoot Alton in his head. Completely confused, Alton repeatedly asked what he had done wrong while he was accosted by both officers.
Salamoni continued to threatened Alton and eventually shot him multiple times.
As Alton Sterling lay dying on the ground, Blane Salamoni continuously referred to him as a “stupid motherf-cker.”
He even instructed other officers to just “leave him there” rather than taping off the crime scene as if he wanted to show off his kill.
The fact that both of these officers will not face criminal charges is a GROSS miscarriage of justice.
