R.I.P Former ‘Martin’ Star Thomas ‘Tommy’ Mikal Ford, Dies at 54!
Very sad news. Actor Thomas ‘Tommy’ Mikal Ford, who played the character ‘Tommy’ on the sitcom “Martin” has passed at the age of 54. According to multiple reports, he passed after being on life support at an Atlanta hospital. He had been in the hospital since Sunday. Reportedly, an aneurysm ruptured in his abdomen. His family confirmed the news on Instagram writing:
It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son, father, brother, husband, and friend Tommy Mykhal Ford. On behalf of the family, we would like to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers. Funeral arrangements will be forthcoming. Please respect the privacy of the Ford family during our time of grief.
Ford received an NAACP Image Awards nomination in 1996 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role on “Martin”. After Martin ended, Ford found success in the FOX detective drama New York Undercover. He played the role of Lieutenant Malcolm Barker.
Ford played a recurring role in the UPN sitcom The Parkers as Nikki’s ex-husband (and Kim’s father), Mel Parker, in 7 episodes. He played Ben Cummings in The Power of Passion as one of the characters whose wife cheats on him with the pastor.
In Harlem Nights he played Tommy Smalls, the brother of Arsenio Hall’s character. He can also be seen in the 1997 crime drama Against the Law.
