NYC celebrates The World Champion NY Knicks historic NBA win with ticker-tape parade
Millions of fans decked out in orange and blue packed into Lower Manhattan for a massive parade that was one for the books on Thursday.
The NBA champions, the New York Knicks, made their way down the Canyon of Heroes, bringing with them all the celebrations of the Empire State’s first NBA win in 53 years.
After marching their way through the confetti, the winning team was presented with the keys to the city while singer Alicia Keys gave a live performance of “Empire State of Mind.”
Knicks starting 5 get keys to the city. The last time the stretch of Broadway between Battery Park and City Hall was covered in a sea of shredded paper was in 2024 for the New York Liberty championship win.
This marked the Knicks’ first-ever ticker-tape parade after the fiscal crisis of the 1970’s forced their 1973 celebration to be held only at City Hall.
This time, thousands of pounds of recycled paper were shredded into confetti and delivered to high-rise buildings along the parade route to shower the Knicks with a colorful pour.
As one of the most memorable seasons in franchise history, the celebration leading up to Thursday was ongoing.
On Wednesday, a young fan got to meet Jalen Brunson after winning a $5,000 lookalike contest in Washington Square Park.
One die-hard Knicks fan, Geraldine Bryant, arrived along the Canyon of Heroes before 6 p.m. Wednesday. She spent the night on the sidewalk, making sure she had a front row seat to a celebration that a generation of Knicks fans had only dreamt about.
New York City’s unsung heroes, the Department of Sanitation, were also ready to do the cleanup as soon as the last parade contingent wrapped up. As many as 650 sanitation workers made sure the streets were clean and ready to reopen as soon as possible.

Lil Nas X Opens Up About His Mental Health Journey
Lil Nas X has broken his silence about his mental health journey. On Wednesday, the “Old Town Road” singer, 27, shared a video on Instagram revealing he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
“I’ve been in rehab for a few months. And since then, I’ve been back at home. Whether it’s in Atlanta with my family or in Los Angeles with myself, friends and whatnot, and trying to ground myself down to earth and get out of my head,” he began. “I have a therapist now and a psychiatrist, which has been really helpful when I got my bipolar disorder diagnosis.”
He continued: “I feel like I had known for like the past few years. But I didn’t want to admit to it because I didn’t want to have to take medication and have people think different of me… Black, gay, bipolar. I’m like living life on like extreme hard mode.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, Bipolar disorder is a lifelong mental health condition. It causes extreme shifts in mood, energy, activity levels, and concentration. Formerly known as “manic depression,” it involves alternating cycles of emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and profound lows (depression).
Back in August, Lil Nas X was arrested in Los Angeles, California, on multiple felony charges, including three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. The incident reportedly began after police responded to reports of a naked man walking in the street. Upon their arrival, an altercation ensued, leading to the charges.
On Aug. 25, he appeared before a judge, waived his arraignment, and “pleaded not guilty to three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer.”
The court determined that the incident was the direct result of a since-disclosed bipolar disorder diagnosis. Because of this, the judge suspended the criminal case.

Chris Brown $90M Lawsuit Ends In Mistrial
Chris Brown’s $90 million civil lawsuit resulted in a mistrial Tuesday, TMZ reports. The lawsuit was filed in December 2020 by his former housekeeper. She claims she was seriously injured when she was allegedly mauled by a Caucasian shepherd named “Hades.”
Maria Avila, the housekeeper, reportedly “suffered emotional and physical injuries after the large dog attacked her while she was taking out the trash at the property.”
After the attack, Avila reportedly required emergency surgery. She was also left with permanent disfigurement, vision loss, and nerve damage. Avaia filed the $90 million) suit against Brown alongside her husband and her sister, Patricia, who witnessed the incident.
According to Rolling Stone, Brown accepted partial responsibility during jury selection on Monday. He disputed Avila’s claims for several years.
Although he agreed that Avila was injured during the incident, he did not agree on the amount she should be paid. Also, if her husband and sister should receive compensation.
The trial began Monday but was abruptly halted by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Huey P. Cotton. He declared a mistrial after a juror allegedly researched the case online and shared the findings with the jury.
”Unfortunately, one of the jurors has violated my admonitions against searching the internet for information. And not only that, but he also shared it, and as a consequence, I have to declare a mistrial,” Cotton said.
Following the dismissal of the jury, Cotton ordered attorneys in the case to begin picking new jurors from the pool already awaiting assignment that day. Brown’s lawyers requested “a delay in the case to allow him to visit his newborn child in Las Vegas.” He is due back in court on Thursday morning.
Twelve days after the attack, Hades was euthanized on Christmas Eve 2001, Lost Coast Outpost reported. The aggressive dog was mysteriously found wandering the rural countryside of Humboldt County in Northern California.

Faizon Love Thrown In Jail, Says He’s Too Broke To Pay $250K Child Support Bill
Faizon Love’s claim that he made zero dollars last year didn’t stop a judge from hitting him with contempt charges and ordering 90 days in jail.
Faizon Love landed in a Tampa jail Tuesday after a judge decided his financial excuses weren’t cutting it anymore in a paternity dispute that’s been dragging on for years.
The veteran actor told the court he’s broke, claiming he made zero dollars last year and couldn’t scrape together the $250,000 that Tiffany Lee says he owes her for child support.
According to TMZ, his story didn’t move the judge, who slapped him with contempt charges and ordered him to serve 90 days behind bars.
The numbers he submitted paint a picture of someone struggling to stay afloat. Over the last five years, his highest annual income was just $13,000, according to court documents he filed earlier this year.
He also cited a medical emergency that kept him from showing up to an April hearing, but the court wasn’t interested in hearing more explanations.
When judges start issuing contempt orders, it means they’ve already heard enough.

The platinum-selling “Romantic Homicide” singer, 21, received his third hearing delay after his defense team requested additional time to review evidence, pushing the probable cause hearing from June 29 to July 21 with a status conference scheduled for July 7.
Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo found “good cause” to continue the hearing after reviewing a sealed declaration from one of Burke’s lead defense attorneys, Marilyn Bednarski.
The judge noted the upcoming hearing will span multiple days with numerous witnesses, and prosecutors must prove they have sufficient evidence to move forward with a jury trial.
D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, pleaded not guilty and nodded along as the judge spoke, his lead attorney Blair Berk declining to comment as she exited the courthouse.
The case centers on the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered remains were discovered September 8, 2025, in the trunk of D4vd’s Tesla after the vehicle was towed from near his Hollywood Hills rental home.
Prosecutors allege D4vd met Rivas when she was 11 and initiated a sexual relationship when she turned 13, later paying a classmate $1,000 for a secret phone to maintain contact after authorities informed him of her age.
Prosecutors claim text messages between the two reference sex, pregnancy, and abortion, and that Rivas threatened to expose the relationship to destroy D4vd’s music career.
They allege he stabbed her multiple times after she arrived at his home on April 23, 2025, then stood by as she bled out.
The filing states D4vd purchased tools including chainsaws, a body bag, and an inflatable pool under a fake name, using the pool to prevent blood from spilling onto his garage floor before dismembering her body.
D4vd faces first-degree murder charges with special circumstance allegations of lying in wait, murder for financial gain, and murder of a witness, making him ineligible for bail.
He’s also charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and unlawful mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors discovered blood evidence in his garage matching Rivas’ DNA profile, and D4vd allegedly lied to friends and associates about the smell of decomposition in his home and vehicle.
The District Attorney’s Office has not yet announced whether it will seek the death penalty.
