#MAGFAB: Taraji P. Henson Named One Of TIME Magazine’s 2024 Women Of The Year
Congratulations are in order for Taraji P. Henson, who has been named one of TIME Magazine’s Women of the Year for 2024! The Color Purple actress joins a star-studded list of honorees who are being praised for their commitment to creating “a more equitable future” for women around the world.
Highlighted on this year’s list are trailblazers such as Greta Gerwig, known for her work as an actor, writer, and director of Barbie, along with singer Andra Day and tennis sensation Coco Gauff.
“The 2024 TIME Women of the Year are all leading the way in creating a more equal world and are making real change through their commitments to the environment, human rights, fair treatment for all people, and more. We are proud to honor and celebrate these remarkable women,” reps for TIME magazine said in a press release.
Taraji P. Henson is a highly acclaimed American actress known for her versatility and compelling performances across film, television, and theater. The actress rose to prominence with her role in the critically acclaimed film Hustle & Flow (2005), for which she received widespread recognition and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
Henson’s breakthrough came with her portrayal of Cookie Lyon in the hit television series Empire, earning her numerous awards including a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama. She went on to tackle diverse roles in films such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Hidden Figures.
As previously reported, over the last year, the Tinseltown veteran has been vocal about her struggle to be paid fairly by bigwigs behind the scenes. During an interview with the New York Times in January, The Best of Enemies star said that she almost walked away from The Color Purple after producers behind the musical allegedly offered her a measly salary. In a previous interview, the Washington, D.C. native claimed that she hadn’t seen a raise since starring in 2018’s Proud Mary. Years of mistreatment from Hollywood pushed her to tears during an interview with Gayle King in December.
While discussing the film industry’s pay disparity with TIME, Henson shared that she has started a production company and her TPH haircare brand with the hope of building successful ventures outside of acting to supplement her income.
“I’m 53, and I’m getting tired,” the actress said. “And then the disrespect: if there’s a playground no one wants you to play on, are you going to keep showing up and hurting yourself?”
The Color Purple star hopes her courage to speak out will change the inequities present in the film and TV industry.
“If we stay talking in small little circles, that’s not going to change anything,” Henson added. “But we do have allies out there, which I’ve found out by telling my truth.”

J. Cole sparked excitement among fans with a hint of new music, as revealed in a VHS-style vlog on Wednesday (Feb. 21). The video was posted on Instagram via the rapper’s burner account and offered a glimpse into his tour life and studio sessions.
In the footage, Cole was seen with collaborators like Tay Keith, Bas, and Lil Durk, alongside scenes from his trek with Drake. The clip concluded with a preview of an unreleased track speculatively titled “Powered Up.”
On the cut, he rapped, “You know it’s money that you owe me, n**gas phony/ And I’m Joaquin Phoenix, walk the line, I’m about cash/ Benjamin Button gettin’ younger as the hours pass/ Should do the freshman cover twice, I’m never outclassed/ There’s not a rap n**ga breathin’ that can outlast/ The Fall Off is like Hov droppin’ Reasonable Doubt last.”
The post’s caption, “Might Delete Later, Vol. 1,” suggested that another vlog could be released in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Cole began teasing The Fall Off in 2019. He made the official announcement through a presidential-style campaign video during his headlining performance at Day N Vegas in November of that year.
Since then, the North Carolina native mentioned the LP several times on features. Wendy Williams Asks for 'Personal Space and Peace' amid 'Overwhelming' Response to Dementia Diagnosis
Wendy Williams is publicly addressing her primary progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia diagnosis for the first time.
In a statement exclusively obtained by PEOPLE on Friday, Williams, 59, thanked fans for their "overwhelming" support in the hours following the news.
"I want to say I have immense gratitude for the love and kind words I have received after sharing my diagnosis of Aphasia and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD)," she said. "Let me say, wow! Your response has been overwhelming. The messages shared with me have touched me, reminding me of the power of unity and the need for compassion."
"I hope that others with FTD may benefit from my story. I want to also thank the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration for their kind words of support and their extraordinary efforts to raise awareness of FTD," Williams added. "I continue to need personal space and peace to thrive. Please just know that your positivity and encouragement are deeply appreciated."
Williams' care team announced her dementia diagnosis on Thursday. In a press release, the former talk show host's team said she received her diagnosis last year and the conditions “have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy's life.”
“Wendy is still able to do many things for herself,” the team said in a statement. “Most importantly she maintains her trademark sense of humor and is receiving the care she requires to make sure she is protected and that her needs are addressed. She is appreciative of the many kind thoughts and good wishes being sent her way.”
According to Mayo Clinic, aphasia "robs you of the ability to communicate" and "can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written." The group adds that the condition "typically occurs suddenly after a stroke or a head injury. But it can also come on gradually from a slow-growing brain tumor or a disease that causes progressive, permanent damage (degenerative)."
Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is an all-encompassing term for a group of brain disorders that threatens the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. This means that parts of these lobes atrophy, and the shrinking of these areas can cause speech issues, emotional problems and changes in personality. Other symptoms can include loss of motor skills — problems walking, swallowing or muscle spasms. Symptoms tend to get worse over time. Patients typically begin to notice symptoms between 40 - 65 years of age, but it can affect people who are younger. It is the most common form of dementia for people under 60.
Williams has dealt with a number of ongoing health issues, including Graves' disease, lymphedema and alcohol abuse. She entered a facility to treat "cognitive issues" in April 2023 and has been appointed a court-appointed legal guardian.
Her sister Wanda Finnie and niece Alex Finnie told PEOPLE in this week's cover story that they have seen a positive change in her condition, though they were unaware of her FTD diagnosis due to the limited contact they have with Williams in the facility. (While staying at the undisclosed location, Williams’ family say they've been unable to contact her due to the guardian's rules, which require Williams to reach out first from a blocked phone number.)
"She sounds really great. To hear my aunt now in terms of just how clear she is, just how focused she is on the importance of family and the reality in terms of facing and understanding where she's at physically and mentally and emotionally, it is like a 180," Alex said.
"I don't know what is working, but I do know that when she did reach out to me, it was a person who is remarkably different than what we see in that documentary," Wanda added, referring to Where Is Wendy Williams?, Lifetime's new documentary filmed between August 2022 and April 2023.
The documentary was set to premiere on Saturday, but following the news of her dementia diagnosis, Williams' court-appointed guardian filed a lawsuit seeking to halt its release.
That effort was denied by an appeals court Friday afternoon, after which the network confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that they plan to move forward with the debut of the documentary. “Lifetime appeared in court today, and the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? will air this weekend as planned," the network said.
Where Is Wendy Williams? executive producer Mark Ford previously confirmed to PEOPLE that the guardian initially signed off on the production of the series (on which Williams is also listed as an executive producer).
The docuseries' trailer teased a look inside Williams’ life and health off screen. Many scenes showed her family members confronting Williams over alcohol use.
For Williams, the documentary is a way to share her honest narrative, according to Alex. “She said, now is the perfect time because I want to take ownership of my story,” Alex said on Thursday’s episode of Good Morning America.
‘A Different World’ Cast Set To Reunite For 10-City HBCU Tour
A Different World class reunion is in order. The cast of the iconic show is set to reunite for a 10-city HBCU tour. According to People, the trek will commemorate the show’s 35th anniversary.
Most of the original cast will participate in the collegiate celebration. Fans can expect to see appearances from Darryl M. Bell who plays Ronald ‘Ron’ Johnson, Charnele Brown, who portrayed Kimberly ‘Kim’ Reese on the show, Jasmine Guy, known as ADW’s Whitley Marion Gilbert Wayne, Kadeem Hardison, who played Dwayne Cleophus Wayne, Dawnn Lewis, the woman who played Jaleesa Vinson Taylor, Winifred ‘Freddie’ Brooks aka Cree Summer, Glynn Turman, who played Col. Bradford ‘Brad’ Taylor, and Sinbad who portrayed Walter Oakes. A Different World’s producers, Debbie Allen and Susan Fales, will also appear at the class reunion.
Bell spoke about the upcoming reunion in an official statement to People. He insisted that the goal of the reunion is deeper than capitalizing on nostalgia. Bell stated that the cast intends to inspire and celebrate today’s and tomorrow’s leaders.
“The cast of A Different World has come together to celebrate our 35-year legacy and make more history with today’s HBCUs and tomorrow’s leaders!” Darryl Bell said. “Our mission goes beyond nostalgia. We’re on a quest to raise awareness and enrollment for HBCUs nationwide. By leveraging the star power and cultural impact of A Different World, we aim to inspire a new generation to choose HBCUs as their academic homes. We’re not just telling a story; we’re rewriting the narrative.”
The outlet reports that the crew will partake in events and live panel discussions surrounding the show’s enduring legacy, academia, and, of course, Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The collegiate tour will commence on Thursday (Feb. 29) in Atlanta at the Atlanta University Center. The Atlanta University Center is home to Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University.
Other cities featured on the tour include Montgomery, Ala, hosted by Alabama State University and Tuskegee University, and Washington, D.C., which Howard University will host. The outlet reports that both D.C. and Bama’s tour dates are scheduled for April.

Meet the winners of the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards. On Saturday, February 24, the SAG-AFTRA handed out the prizes for the outstanding performances in movie and primetime television, revealing "Oppenheimer" and "The Bear" dominations.
Christopher Nolan's epic biographical thriller led the pack of movie winners, winning three out of its four nominations. It nabbed Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Cillian Murphy grabbed the coveted prize for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. His co-star Robert Downey Jr. additionally won the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.
Murphy paid tribute to the "greatest group of actors" he's ever worked with when accepting the award at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. "This is extremely, extremely special to me because it comes from you guys. My 'Oppenheimer' crew, my 'Oppenheimer' family," he said. "They were the greatest group of actors I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I've never felt so looked after or cared for by a group of actors. Every day I'd look at your names on the call sheet and you just made me brave guys, so thank you."
He also recognized his fellow nominees, including Bradley Cooper ("Maestro"), Colman Domingo ("Rustin"), Paul Giamatti ("The Holdovers") and Jeffrey Wright ("American Fiction"). "All the actors nominated alongside me I am bursting with admiration and respect for you all," he added.

In her acceptance speech, Gladstone, who took the award ahead of Annette Bening ("Nyad"), Carey Mulligan ("Maestro"), Margot Robbie ("Barbie") and Emma Stone ("Poor Things"), stressed the importance of "speaking your truths" and supporting one another. She went on urging people to "keep telling stories, everyone in this room, to everybody watching, those of you who are not actors but have a story that needs to be heard."
In a shocking twist of event, "Barbie", which was tied with "Oppenheimer" for the most nominations (4), did not win any.
Meanwhile, in the television front, "The Bear" became the biggest winner with three awards. It bagged Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Ayo Edebiri.
White pledged to thank the people who worked on the FX series "for the rest of [his] life" as he accepted the award for his portrayal of Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto. "I've wanted to be a part of this community my whole life, I had no back-up plan. I started very young and I'm so honoured to be standing in front of you today. To get this from my peers, who I admire so much, thank you," he shared.
Edebiri, meanwhile, hailed her win to be "insane," but she felt "so grateful" nevertheless. "One of the biggest displays of that is 'The Bear' and the cast and crew of that show, it wouldn't be possible without you guys, you're a miracle and I'm so grateful to be in your company, you've made me a better person and maybe a better actor," she added. "Thank you very much again, this is very cool."
"Beef" picked up two awards, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for Steven Yeun and Ali Wong respectively.
"The Last of Us" also won two, through Pedro Pascal's win for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series and in Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series category.
Elizabeth Debicki won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Princess Diana on "The Crown", while "Succession", which was nominated in four categories, won one for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Speaking on behalf of the cast, Alan Ruck told the audience, "Well one last hurrah, I think. Right now, you're lucking at some of the luckiest people on the planet and some of the most grateful because not only did we all work on one of the best television shows maybe ever, we made friends for life."
The show also presented Life Achievement Award to Barbra Streisand. "This is such a wonderful award to get because you know in advance you're going to get it. You don't have to sit there in squirm...," she jokingly said in her speech. "And if you don't have to put on such a happy face, 'I'm so happy to lose!' Anyway, you all know what I mean."

Williams' care team announced her dementia diagnosis on Thursday. In a press release, the former talk show host's team said she received her diagnosis last year and the conditions “have already presented significant hurdles in Wendy's life.”
“Wendy is still able to do many things for herself,” the team said in a statement. “Most importantly she maintains her trademark sense of humor and is receiving the care she requires to make sure she is protected and that her needs are addressed. She is appreciative of the many kind thoughts and good wishes being sent her way.”
According to Mayo Clinic, aphasia "robs you of the ability to communicate" and "can affect your ability to speak, write and understand language, both verbal and written." The group adds that the condition "typically occurs suddenly after a stroke or a head injury. But it can also come on gradually from a slow-growing brain tumor or a disease that causes progressive, permanent damage (degenerative)."
Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is an all-encompassing term for a group of brain disorders that threatens the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. This means that parts of these lobes atrophy, and the shrinking of these areas can cause speech issues, emotional problems and changes in personality. Other symptoms can include loss of motor skills — problems walking, swallowing or muscle spasms. Symptoms tend to get worse over time. Patients typically begin to notice symptoms between 40 - 65 years of age, but it can affect people who are younger. It is the most common form of dementia for people under 60.
Williams has dealt with a number of ongoing health issues, including Graves' disease, lymphedema and alcohol abuse. She entered a facility to treat "cognitive issues" in April 2023 and has been appointed a court-appointed legal guardian.
Her sister Wanda Finnie and niece Alex Finnie told PEOPLE in this week's cover story that they have seen a positive change in her condition, though they were unaware of her FTD diagnosis due to the limited contact they have with Williams in the facility. (While staying at the undisclosed location, Williams’ family say they've been unable to contact her due to the guardian's rules, which require Williams to reach out first from a blocked phone number.)
"She sounds really great. To hear my aunt now in terms of just how clear she is, just how focused she is on the importance of family and the reality in terms of facing and understanding where she's at physically and mentally and emotionally, it is like a 180," Alex said.
"I don't know what is working, but I do know that when she did reach out to me, it was a person who is remarkably different than what we see in that documentary," Wanda added, referring to Where Is Wendy Williams?, Lifetime's new documentary filmed between August 2022 and April 2023.
The documentary was set to premiere on Saturday, but following the news of her dementia diagnosis, Williams' court-appointed guardian filed a lawsuit seeking to halt its release.
That effort was denied by an appeals court Friday afternoon, after which the network confirmed in a statement to PEOPLE that they plan to move forward with the debut of the documentary. “Lifetime appeared in court today, and the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams? will air this weekend as planned," the network said.
Where Is Wendy Williams? executive producer Mark Ford previously confirmed to PEOPLE that the guardian initially signed off on the production of the series (on which Williams is also listed as an executive producer).
The docuseries' trailer teased a look inside Williams’ life and health off screen. Many scenes showed her family members confronting Williams over alcohol use.
For Williams, the documentary is a way to share her honest narrative, according to Alex. “She said, now is the perfect time because I want to take ownership of my story,” Alex said on Thursday’s episode of Good Morning America.
‘A Different World’ Cast Set To Reunite For 10-City HBCU Tour
Most of the original cast will participate in the collegiate celebration. Fans can expect to see appearances from Darryl M. Bell who plays Ronald ‘Ron’ Johnson, Charnele Brown, who portrayed Kimberly ‘Kim’ Reese on the show, Jasmine Guy, known as ADW’s Whitley Marion Gilbert Wayne, Kadeem Hardison, who played Dwayne Cleophus Wayne, Dawnn Lewis, the woman who played Jaleesa Vinson Taylor, Winifred ‘Freddie’ Brooks aka Cree Summer, Glynn Turman, who played Col. Bradford ‘Brad’ Taylor, and Sinbad who portrayed Walter Oakes. A Different World’s producers, Debbie Allen and Susan Fales, will also appear at the class reunion.
Bell spoke about the upcoming reunion in an official statement to People. He insisted that the goal of the reunion is deeper than capitalizing on nostalgia. Bell stated that the cast intends to inspire and celebrate today’s and tomorrow’s leaders.
“The cast of A Different World has come together to celebrate our 35-year legacy and make more history with today’s HBCUs and tomorrow’s leaders!” Darryl Bell said. “Our mission goes beyond nostalgia. We’re on a quest to raise awareness and enrollment for HBCUs nationwide. By leveraging the star power and cultural impact of A Different World, we aim to inspire a new generation to choose HBCUs as their academic homes. We’re not just telling a story; we’re rewriting the narrative.”
The outlet reports that the crew will partake in events and live panel discussions surrounding the show’s enduring legacy, academia, and, of course, Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The collegiate tour will commence on Thursday (Feb. 29) in Atlanta at the Atlanta University Center. The Atlanta University Center is home to Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark Atlanta University.
Other cities featured on the tour include Montgomery, Ala, hosted by Alabama State University and Tuskegee University, and Washington, D.C., which Howard University will host. The outlet reports that both D.C. and Bama’s tour dates are scheduled for April.

Meet the winners of the 30th Screen Actors Guild Awards. On Saturday, February 24, the SAG-AFTRA handed out the prizes for the outstanding performances in movie and primetime television, revealing "Oppenheimer" and "The Bear" dominations.
Christopher Nolan's epic biographical thriller led the pack of movie winners, winning three out of its four nominations. It nabbed Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture and Cillian Murphy grabbed the coveted prize for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role. His co-star Robert Downey Jr. additionally won the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role.
Murphy paid tribute to the "greatest group of actors" he's ever worked with when accepting the award at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California. "This is extremely, extremely special to me because it comes from you guys. My 'Oppenheimer' crew, my 'Oppenheimer' family," he said. "They were the greatest group of actors I've ever had the pleasure of working with. I've never felt so looked after or cared for by a group of actors. Every day I'd look at your names on the call sheet and you just made me brave guys, so thank you."
He also recognized his fellow nominees, including Bradley Cooper ("Maestro"), Colman Domingo ("Rustin"), Paul Giamatti ("The Holdovers") and Jeffrey Wright ("American Fiction"). "All the actors nominated alongside me I am bursting with admiration and respect for you all," he added.

In her acceptance speech, Gladstone, who took the award ahead of Annette Bening ("Nyad"), Carey Mulligan ("Maestro"), Margot Robbie ("Barbie") and Emma Stone ("Poor Things"), stressed the importance of "speaking your truths" and supporting one another. She went on urging people to "keep telling stories, everyone in this room, to everybody watching, those of you who are not actors but have a story that needs to be heard."
In a shocking twist of event, "Barbie", which was tied with "Oppenheimer" for the most nominations (4), did not win any.
Meanwhile, in the television front, "The Bear" became the biggest winner with three awards. It bagged Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series for Jeremy Allen White and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for Ayo Edebiri.
White pledged to thank the people who worked on the FX series "for the rest of [his] life" as he accepted the award for his portrayal of Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto. "I've wanted to be a part of this community my whole life, I had no back-up plan. I started very young and I'm so honoured to be standing in front of you today. To get this from my peers, who I admire so much, thank you," he shared.
Edebiri, meanwhile, hailed her win to be "insane," but she felt "so grateful" nevertheless. "One of the biggest displays of that is 'The Bear' and the cast and crew of that show, it wouldn't be possible without you guys, you're a miracle and I'm so grateful to be in your company, you've made me a better person and maybe a better actor," she added. "Thank you very much again, this is very cool."
"Beef" picked up two awards, Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series and Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for Steven Yeun and Ali Wong respectively.
"The Last of Us" also won two, through Pedro Pascal's win for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series and in Outstanding Action Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Television Series category.
Elizabeth Debicki won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Princess Diana on "The Crown", while "Succession", which was nominated in four categories, won one for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Speaking on behalf of the cast, Alan Ruck told the audience, "Well one last hurrah, I think. Right now, you're lucking at some of the luckiest people on the planet and some of the most grateful because not only did we all work on one of the best television shows maybe ever, we made friends for life."
The show also presented Life Achievement Award to Barbra Streisand. "This is such a wonderful award to get because you know in advance you're going to get it. You don't have to sit there in squirm...," she jokingly said in her speech. "And if you don't have to put on such a happy face, 'I'm so happy to lose!' Anyway, you all know what I mean."

'Star Wars' Actor Billy Dee Williams Reacts To Being Called 'Closet Queen' Due To Gay Rumors
"Star Wars" actor Billy Dee Williams insists he was never bothered by rumours he was gay. The 86-year-old found fame playing Lando Calrissian in the original "Star Wars" trilogy and was at the centre of talk during the 1970s he was a "closet" homosexual.
"I've been called a 'Closet Queen.' But, I don't pay much attention to any of that," he told Page Six.
His comments come after he released his memoir "What Have We Here?" which includes stories of how he found fame to meeting stars including Marlon Brando, Laurence Olivier, and Angela Lansbury.
He says in his book he was always comfortable hanging out with members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and would attended secret gay parties in the Metropolitan Opera's basement when he was an extra. Billy added, "It all seemed very normal to me. I was around it all of my life, so I never really gave it much thought."
The three-time married actor also recalls in his book a conversation he had with his daughter about embracing the feminine side, after he heard about psychoanalyst Carl Jung's theory of anima and animus - which states anima is the unconscious feminine side to men, and animus the masculine side in women.
He added, "I told my daughter about it. I was talking about why men should get more in touch with the female side of themselves and then my daughter told me - the first time I ever heard the phrase - gender fluid. My daughter was very happy to think that I was gender fluid!"
Billy also admitted he finds the current wars over gender "really amusing, to say the least."
South Carolina Man Found Guilty in First Federal Gender-Based Hate Crime Trial
A South Carolina man has been found guilty of murder in the first federal gender-based hate crime trial. As reported by the Associated Press, jurors on Friday convicted Daqua Lameek Ritter of a hate crime for the murder of a transgender woman, who's referred to as Dime Doe in court documents, in 2019.
The U.S. Department of Justice alleges that on Aug. 4, 2019, Ritter convinced Doe to drive to a secluded place in South Carolina near a relative's home where he fatally shot her three times in the head. Ritter killed Doe after she allegedly exposed their affair to people in their small town of Allendale.
"His crime was motivated by his anger at being mocked for having a sexual relationship with a transgender woman," lawyers wrote in a filing last January.
The case is the first gender-based hate crime that has made it to trial.
“This case stands as a testament to our committed effort to fight violence that is targeted against those who may identify as a member of the opposite sex, for their sexual orientation or for any other protected characteristics,” Brook Andrews, an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of South Carolina, said after the verdict was handed down.
Ritter, who was arrested last January and faces a maximum of life imprisonment without parole, has not yet been sentenced. Ritter could receive multiple life sentences if convicted by a jury.
Brandi Glanville accuses Andy Cohen of sexual harassment
Former "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Brandi Glanville accused "Watch What Happens Live" host and "Real Housewives" executive producer Andy Cohen of sexual harassment.
Glanville, 51, made the claims in a letter her lawyers sent Thursday to NBCUniversal, Shed Media and Shed’s parent company Warner Bros. Discovery.
Glanville said that in 2022 Cohen sent a video to her boasting about "his intention to sleep with another Bravo star that night." The letter alleged that Cohen appeared inebriated and invited her to watch via FaceTime.
Cohen, 55, said the comment was a joke but apologized to Glanville.
As the executive producer of "Real Housewives," Cohen was Glanville's boss, the letter said. It accused Cohen of abusing his power and leaving Glanville "feeling trapped and disgusted."
In his response to Glanville, Cohen wrote that he and former "Below Deck" star Kate Chastain had made a joke and that Glanville was in on it.
"The video shows Kate Chastain and I very clearly joking to Brandi," Cohen said Thursday in a post on X. "It was absolutely meant in jest, and Brandi’s response clearly communicated she was in on the joke. That said, it was totally inappropriate and I apologize."
On Friday, Glanville's attorneys Bryan Freedman and Mark Geragos slammed Cohen's comments as a "fake apology."
Shed Media and Warner Bros. Discovery declined to comment. NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News and Bravo, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Friday.
The letter also addressed claims Caroline Manzo made in a lawsuit alleging that she was sexually harassed and assaulted by Glanville while filming "The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip" in Morocco in January 2023. The season of the show has not aired on television.
Manzo, 62, who starred on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," alleged in a lawsuit filed in January that an "intoxicated" Glanville groped and kissed an unwilling Manzo at a bar. It also accused Glanville of kissing Manzo on a couch and following her into a bathroom where Glanville allegedly groped Manzo.
Glanville said in her letter that Manzo's allegations were a "character assassination" and that the two had engaged in "dirty dancing,’ flirting, and playful touching" and that "they shared a couple of kisses." Glanville also said Manzo had pulled her into the bathroom so they could wash their hands and they were accompanied by two other castmates.

The letter went on to blame Shed Media and NBC for "deliberately refashioning a series of intimate moments between two consenting adults into a #MeToo scenario."
"This is a transparent attempt to cut ties with Ms. Glanville in a manner intended to deny her recourse, discredit her, and ward off damaging revelations that Ms. Glanville is uniquely positioned to reveal," the letter stated.
Glanville also accused NBC and Shed Media of trying to "bolster its claims of sexual misconduct" against Glanville by "deliberately misconstruing an interaction" between her and a production executive named Shawn Loesser.
The letter alleged that her relationship with Loesser is "characterized by mutual flirtation" and the "attempt to recast a single interaction of this nature as sexual harassment by Ms. Glanville beggars belief."
Loesser could not be reached at phone numbers listed for him.
Glanville's attorneys said her allegations are "yet another example of the abusive practices of the reality TV industry" and encouraged other people to come forward.
"Mark Geragos and I have heard from thousands of current and former cast members on reality shows about the physical and emotional harm inflicted on them by virtue of their participation," they said in a joint statement. "We know there are untold numbers of innocent victims who have yet to tell their stories or seek legal redress."
The reality star and legal team are threatening to pursue legal action and requested that NBC, Shed Media and Warner Bros. preserve all documentation related to her claims.

In December, Vin Diesel's former assistant Asta Jonasson alleges that the actor sexually assaulted her the fall of 2010 during the filming of "Fast Five" in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles in December, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY
According to the lawsuit, Jonasson was hired by the actor's production company One Race to work for him in various capacities, including organizing and accompanying Diesel to parties and ensuring she was nearby in photos if the actor attended events without his longtime girlfriend.
"We are proud to represent Ms. Jonasson and hold accountable Vin Diesel and those who allowed and covered up his sexual assault. The law exists to protect those who have been wronged, no matter how powerful or famous the defendant is. Sexual harassment in the workplace will never stop if powerful men are protected from accountability," a lawyer from Greenberg Gross, the firm representing Jonasson, said in a statement.
"This is the first he has ever heard about this more than 13-year-old claim made by a purportedly 9-day employee," Freedman said in a statement. "There is clear evidence which completely refutes these outlandish allegations.”
Ta-Nehisi Coates On Board to Helm Black Superman Movie, Project Still A Go
*Moviegoers may have James Gunn’s vision of Superman in sight for next year, but a Black doppelganger for the traditionally white superhero could arrive in the not-too-distant future. Hiptoro reports that famed author Ta-Nehisi Coates is set to helm a movie featuring a Black Superman.
As it stands now, nothing is definite, other than the announcement of the feature back in 2021, with J.J. Abrams on board as a producer. Media sources report no release date has been set for the movie, which will include a Black actor as the Last Son of Krypton.
Speculation on the film centers on it being “a 20th century period piece” that will introduce of a new and different version of the iconic hero. This version plans on “crafting a Kal-El in the vein of the original Superman comics and will have the protagonist hail from Krypton and come to Earth,” according to reports.
In 2023, Gunn stated that while a white Superman will headline his film, “Superman: Legacy,” there is still room for a world featuring the first Black Man of Steel.
“Those two things are totally unrelated,” Gunn told io9. “That’s an exciting movie. I know that Chantal Nong, who is the executive on that project, is extremely excited about it. So if it comes in and it’s great, which I haven’t read the script, and if the timing is right, that could absolutely happen. That’s totally unrelated. It would be an Elseworlds tale like Joker.”
That said, rumors swirled that Coates’ Black Superman project was canceled. But Gunn did confirm via Threads in January that the film was still a go when a fan asked if it was still happening.
“Yes,” the DCU co-head responded.
Speculating on what a Black Superman could offer, Hiptoro praised DC Films for sticking with the project and Coates as it represents a barrier-breaking shift that, “challenges the conventional portrayal of superheroes and opens up a dialogue about race, identity, and the American dream.”
“The significance of a Black man embodying a symbol of hope and justice cannot be overstated, especially in a country grappling with its history of racial inequality,” the site stated.

However, the essence of Superman lies in his universal appeal and his fight for justice, ideals that transcend race. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial vandalized in Denver
it was reported that a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. memorial statue was vandalized in Denver's City Park neighborhood. According to NBC News, the Denver Police Department’s Bias-Motivated Crime Unit is trying to determine if race was a motivating factor in the incident.
The statue was created by Black sculptor Ed Dwight and installed in 2002. In addition to a life-sized bronze model of Dr. King, the art piece features smaller statues of Mahatma Gandhi, Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth, and Frederick Douglass at its base. A torch, an angel, and a panel depicting Black military veterans were said to have been stolen from the memorial on Tuesday (Feb. 20).
Vern Howard, chair of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Colorado Holiday Commission, shared a statement with NBC News after receiving word of the unfortunate incident.
"You can steal. You can take. You can pull. You can hate. You can do everything that you believe necessary to detour the message of Dr. King and [the] Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Colorado Holiday Commission,” he said. "We’re going to continue to march, to honor, and to work toward freedom, toward justice, toward the end of racism, toward the end of hatred, and the end of discrimination." Back in January, the Howard-led organization held a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Marade (a portmanteau of march and parade) to commemorate when Colorado recognized the late civil rights leader's birthday as a state holiday in 1984.
Howard also told FOX31 Denver that he isn't surprised by the timing of the vandalism. "I don't feel that it's a coincidence that it happened during Black History Month," he expressed in an interview with the news outlet. "I don't believe that it's a coincidence that it happened during the 40th anniversary of the commission here in Colorado. I just don't."
GA Authorities Say Murder Suspect In UGA Killing Didn’t Know Female Victim, Took The Opportunity To Kill
University of Georgia Police Chief Jeff Clark said during a Friday news conference that authorities believe the killing of Laken Hope Riley, 22, a junior on the dean’s list at Augusta University, was a “crime of opportunity” by “an individual who woke up with bad intentions.”
Jose Antonio Ibarra, 26, of Athens, is facing multiple charges, including felony murder, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and concealing the death of another in Riley’s killing, CNN reported.
The victim was found dead near a lake at the University of Georgia’s campus Thursday after jogging in the area. An examination on Friday revealed she died from blunt force trauma, Clark said at Friday’s news conference.
The suspect was arrested Friday. The evidence suggests the crime was “a solo act,” Clark said, adding authorities did take several people into custody but are only arresting Ibarra.
“This was a very isolated incident,” Clark said at the Friday news conference. “We haven’t had a homicide at the University of Georgia in almost 30 years.”
Police have executed a search warrant at Ibarra’s apartment as they continue to collect evidence. They also used video footage from campus security cameras key input from the community and physical evidence to tie the suspect to Riley’s killing, Clark said.
“Our work, however, is not done,” Clark added, saying police are still collecting evidence and urging residents to call the department with pertinent information.
