#MAGFAB: Jennifer Lopez for Elle US - December 2023/January 2024
Jennifer Lopez Is Standing in Her Power. The icon is aiming to do everything the men do.
These days, she is choreographing her own story. With her company Nuyorican Productions, she has produced projects including Hustlers, the Netflix film The Mother, and TV series like The Fosters and Shades of Blue. “I want to tell the gamut of stories,” she says. “Uplifting, empowering stories, and entertaining stories, and gangster movies. I want to do everything that men do. I want to do all of it.” She doesn’t like the notion that women only want to see love stories or romantic comedies. “I think that’s insulting.” Women, she points out, “have been leaders of countries. We have run empires; we have done all of these things throughout history, and we should tell all of those stories.”
On making projects for and about women: “People were laying the groundwork for this for a long time. It’s just that sometimes it takes time to move these mountains and these old ideas and paradigms and shift them to a place where there’s real change. We have been able to stand in our own power and say, We’re not going to be taken advantage of. We’re not just on the corners of life or on the outside of the stories. We are the stories.”
On what she wishes she knew before breaking into Hollywood: “One of those things was to be more particular with my choices. And I didn’t have that luxury, being Latina. I didn’t get called in for everything someone who wasn’t Latina would get called in for. I got called in for very specific things. As I started getting more leads here and there, I should have pulled back. I took that mindset with me instead of going, ‘I should only work with certain kinds of directors that I really want to work with. I should choose this material in a different way.’ I just wasn’t as particular as I could be, I think. And if I [could] start over, I think I would’ve done that. I would’ve known that the director is really the helm of the project when you’re acting. Just like in singing, the producers you work with are very important. I knew that with music, but I didn’t quite understand it as much when I was younger about directors.”
On the growing number of roles for older women: “People have realized that women just get sexier as they get older. They get more learned and more rich with character. All of that is very beautiful and attractive, and not just physically, but on the inside, the beauty that you gain as you get older, the wisdom you gain.”
“I see myself working [as long as] I want to. I don’t know what that age is. It might be 70, it might be 80, it might be 90, I don’t know. But I know that it’s there for me if I want it and I want to create it. That has always been the mindset that I’ve had: to never let anybody put me in a box because of where I was born, where I’m from, what age I am, anything like that. Those boundaries don’t exist for me.”
Nice!
#RHOA: 'Kandi and the Gang' There will be a Season 2 but not on Bravo
'RHOA's Kandi does not go down without a fight, despite Bravo cancelling her show 'Kandi and the Gang'.
THE BIG PICTURE
Kandi and the Gang cast members are thriving outside of filming, with Torin growing his event planning business and Patrick adding real estate broker to his portfolio.
Shawndreca celebrated three years with her company and is offering acting classes, while Melvin continues his journey as a top chef.
The show's renewal leaves fans with anticipation as they wait to see which familiar faces and potentially new additions will be a part of the season 2 cast.
The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss confirmed Kandi and the Gang will return for a second season, though now those plans seem to have stalled. The Grammy-award-winning producer announced the show's return via her YouTube series, Speak On It. The pick-up announcement came months after Kandi revealed during an Amazon Live that the show was canceled. Kandi said at the time: "Unfortunately, it is not returning. Bravo is not bringing it back, and I'm super sad about it."
Aside from its return, the reality TV star did not reveal any details surrounding storylines or production timelines. Season 1 followed the ups and downs of Kandi managing an inconsistent staff whose relationships threaten the professionalism of the restaurant. While fans wait for the show's return, here's an update on the cast ahead of season 2.
The Kandi and the Gang cast from season 1 focused on the staff working at Kandi and Todd Tucker's restaurant, Old Lady Gang (OLG). The cast included Torin Mitchell, Shawndreca Robinson, Dom'Unique Variety, Brandon Black, Patrick Dallas, Phillip Frempong, Brian Redmond, Melvin Jones, and Rashard Roles. Since the wrap of season 1 in 2022, the cast has seemingly gone on with living their lives and sharing those moments via social media. Many workplace environments discourage "in-house" dating, but one couple could not resist their shared connection and chemistry. The secretive couple of season 1 is still going strong, with Dom'Unique sharing a "Happy Birthday Baby!" post to her boyfriend and castmate and co-worker, Brandon Black via her Instagram in late August. Through their online posts, the couple seems happy while thriving individually in their careers. Dom'Unique is a professional dancer who has performed alongside Kandi on tour, while Brandon manages OLG.

Event planner and designer Torin has been working hard and growing his business. Torin recently appeared on a KTLA Morning News segment to discuss DIY Halloween table decor and centerpiece ideas. The event designer shared his experience with anxiety before the segment began via his Instagram post displaying transparency in how he overcame this to execute his TV segment. In addition, Torin had the opportunity to display his skill set by designing an event for Kandi during an episode on The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
One of Kandi's relatives and employee, Patrick, has also been working hard. Patrick expanded his work portfolio by adding the title of real estate broker to the list. Despite getting engaged in the season 1 finale to former girlfriend Safari Foxe, the couple's split was announced via Instagram. Safari said, "We are absolutely not together. Should have trusted my intuition" in November 2022.
Another cast member, Shawndreca, recently celebrated the three-year mark with her company ShadesByDreca while beginning a new venture offering acting classes through her company KREATIVE ORKESTRA. Cast member and kitchen manager Melvin, who is also Kandi's cousin, has continued his journey as a top chef, posting videos online of his delicious dishes and spending time with his family, Kandi and Patrick. Unfortunately, not many updates have been available on fellow cast members Phillip, Brian, and Rashard or their potential return to the show.
With the renewal of Kandi and the Gang, fans can expect a mix of familiar faces and possibly new additions, creating an intriguing dynamic for this show. Without confirmation on when and where the show will return, it is rigorous to decipher who will be a part of the season 2 cast.

#HipHopNews: Charlamagne Tha God Urges Rappers To Drop Entourages, Change The People Around Them
Charlamagne Tha God has urged rappers to reconsider the company they keep, cautioning that the mess caused by their entourages might get them in trouble.
The Breakfast Club host shared his opinions with TMZ at the United Justice Coalition Summit on Friday (December 1), where he suggested that rappers should start hiring legitimate people — like bodyguards and managers — instead of trying to put on their friends from around the way.
“Entourages are played out, especially if you have a bunch of people around you who don’t serve no real purpose,” he said. “Because, you know, if those brothers served a real purpose, they wouldn’t be doing something as foolish as that, because that’s not security.”
He continued: “The way I move, I have real security with me. You know? I have former police officers that are security, and they know how to handle situations. Security’s job isn’t to beat people up. Security’s job is to diffuse things. […] I tell folks that all the time: make sure your infrastructure is right. Make sure everybody actually has a role. Make sure everybody actually has a position that they’re playing.”
Charlamagne Tha God was specifically addressing the recent Nardo Wick controversy caused by men who were presumed to be from the rapper’s entourage. Nardo Wick was leaving Club Skye in Tampa, Florida at around 1:15 a.m. ET early Monday (November 27) after performing.
Video footage of the incident shows a man rocking a “Free Tory” shirt making his way to a sprinter with his phone in hand. As he walks over to a group appearing to consist of Nardo and his team, the fan is hit on the side of his head by a member of the crew.
The video shows a second punch from a separate individual that causes the man to fall and hit his head on the ground.
A Tampa police news release about the incident does not mention the “Who Want Smoke?” rapper, saying only that “On Monday, November 27, 2023, at approximately 1:17 a.m., following a concert at Club Skye…, an adult male victim, attempted to approach the performer for a photo, when individuals who appear to be affiliated with the performer punched the victim.”
According to TMZ, the victim, George Obregon Jr., was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for a severe concussion and brain hemorrhage. An update on Tuesday morning (November 28) revealed he was in critical but stable condition.
Nardo was the only performer listed on Club Skye’s website for Sunday, November 26 into the morning of November 27.
After the Jacksonville native denounced the attack, the two suspects turned themselves into authorities in Tampa, FL, as of Saturday (December 2).
Zachary Benton and a 15-year-old whose name has not been released to the public due to him being a minor have been charged with felony battery. The 15-year-old has also been charged with possession of a firearm while wearing a mask.
A source close to Nardo Wick has told authorities that the two suspects in this incident were “not close” to the star, but were instead “friends of friends.”
#BoxOfficeNews: Beyonce's 'Renaissance' Bows At No. 1 On Slow Post-Thanksgiving Weekend
Beyonce Knowles has stolen the spotlight in movie theaters. Having held one of the most successful tours of the year, the R&B diva now rules the North American box office with her latest pic "Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce".
Written, directed and produced by the singer herself, the documentary concert film opened slightly ahead of expectations with an estimated $21 million from 2,536 locations across the U.S. Distributed by AMC Theatres, it earned a coveted A+ CinemaScore from audiences and glowing reviews from critics.
"On behalf of AMC Theatres Distribution and the entire theatrical industry, we thank Beyonce for bringing this incredible film directly to her fans," said Elizabeth Frank, AMC Theatres executive vice president of worldwide programming, in a statement. "To see it resonate with fans and with film critics on a weekend that many in the industry typically neglect is a testament to her immense talent, not just as a performer, but as a producer and director."
The opening number of the "Renaissance" film ranks as one of the best for a concert film, though it doesn't come close to matching the $92.8 debut of "Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour" movie, which is wrapping up its theatrical run soon with over $250 million globally.
Both Beyonce and Taylor Swift decided to bypass Hollywood studios and struck a pact with AMC Theatres to distribute their films. The two superstars are also supportive of each other, making surprise appearance at one another's film premiere.
In this notoriously sluggish post-Thanksgiving weekend, the "Renaissance" film defied the odds by becoming the first film to open over $20 million on this weekend in 20 years. The biggest opening for the first weekend of December belongs to Tom Cruise's "The Last Samurai" ($24.3 million), not adjusted for inflation.
Meanwhile, this week's box office sees previous champion "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" falling 50% to No. 2 with additional $14.5 million on its third weekend. Toho's Japanese film "Godzilla Minus One" in another new release that debuts in the top five, placing third with an estimated $11 million, thanks to younger men who made up 77% of ticket buyers on Friday.
"Trolls Band Together" added approximately $7.6 million to its domestic haul while holding on to the fourth spot. Disney's "Wish" follows close behind at No. 5 with an estimated $7.4 million, bringing its domestic gross to $42 million so far.
Top 10 of North American Box Office (Dec. 01-03, 2023):
"Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce" - $21 million
"The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" - $14.5 million
"Godzilla Minus One" - $11 million
"Trolls Band Together" - $7.6 million
"Wish" - $7.4 million
"Napoleon" - $7.1 million
"Animal" - $6.1 million
"The Shift" - $4.4 million
"Silent Night" - $3 million
"Thanksgiving" - $2.6 million
Deion Sanders And Tracey Edmonds 'Mutually' Decide To Call Off Engagement
Sanders and Tracey Edmonds have shocked the public with their split. Around four years after getting engaged, the former NFL player and the CEO of Edmonds Entertainment Group Inc announced that they "mutually decided" to call it quits.
The 56-year-old football coach and the 56-year-old TV personality made use of Instagram to share the shocking news. In the caption of an Instagram post, they wrote, "To EVERYONE who has been there for us, supported us, and shown us love… We have mutually decided that it is best for us to move forward in life AS FRIENDS.
Deion and Tracey went on to spill, "And [we] have made this decision with love in our hearts, respect for each other, and appreciation for the time we've shared together." They continued, "Please keep us in your prayers as we go through this transition. Thank you for being there for us ALL THESE YEARS! We love you and appreciate you SO MUCH!" adding folded hands and red heart emojis.
It did not take long for the post to be flooded with responses from Instagram users. Among them was Deion, who showed his love for Tracey in the comments section, "Love u Tracey and You've been a true blessing to me. I appreciate the times we've shared and they laughs we've had. You are an amazing woman and a tremendous mother. God bless u with every endeavor and every step u take. You are HER. Tracey-Mack !!!"
Deion and Tracey met each other for the first time at a premiere party of a movie back in 2012. Seven years later, on Valentine's Day, the former couple revealed that they were engaged. Along with the announcement, she penned, "God is SO GOOD! Were 8 years in, made it through the storms TOGETHER, and will be spending the rest of our lives TOGETHER!"
Deion and Tracey already have children from their previous relationships respectively. The former Baltimore Ravens player is a father to Deiondra and Deion Jr., whom he has with his first wife Carolyn Chambers, as well as Shilo, Shedeur and Shelomi, whom he shares with his second wife Pilar Biggers-Sanders. Meanwhile, Tracey has sons Brandon and Dylan with musician Babyface.
Billie Eilish Addresses Her Sexuality After She Says She Was 'Outed' on Red Carpet
The 'What Was I Made For' singer took to Instagram to address the incident on Sunday.
Billie Eilish was honored at this year's Variety Hitmakers Brunch in Los Angeles on Saturday -- but she also took the organization to task for their red carpet questions about her sexuality.
The "Bad Guy" singer took to Instagram on Sunday to share some snapshots from the event, and she thanked Variety for the honor presented -- before calling them out for "outing" her before the event during their interview.
"Thanks variety for my award and for also outing me on a red carpet at 11 am instead of talking about anything else that matters," Eilish wrote in the caption -- which was covered by a shot of her belt buckle, featuring the silhouettes of two women.
"I like boys and girls leave me alone about it please," she continued. "literally who cares[?] stream 'what was i made for'"
Eilish's post comes a day after the event, where she spoke with Variety ahead of the show. The singer was asked about her November interview with the publication, in which she mentioned she was attracted to both men and women in the past.
When asked if she had intended to come out when she made those remarks, Eilish told the outlet, "No, I didn't, but I kinda thought, 'Wasn't it obvious?' I didn't realize people didn't know."
Eilish explained that she didn't really have any interest in formally announcing her sexuality in any capacity, "I'm just like, why can't we just exist? I've been doing this for a long time and I just didn't talk about it."
"I saw the article and I was like, 'Oh, I guess I came out today. OK, cool,'" she added, referring to the November profile for Variety's Power of Women cover story. "It's exciting to me because I guess people didn't know, so it's cool that they know."
"Ooh, I'm nervous talking about it," she added. "But no, I am for the girls... I'm still scared of them but I think they're pretty."
Eilish previously said in her Variety profile last month, "I've never really felt like I could relate to girls very well."
"I love them so much," Eilish added. "I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real."
The comments sparked speculation regarding her sexuality at the time, but the singer had not addressed her comments until Saturday's red carpet.
Kimora Lee Simmons and Her Kids ‘Are All Fine’ After House Caught Fire, Says LAFD ‘Saved Our Lives’
Kimora Lee Simmons and her family are safe after their Los Angeles home caught on fire. “The kids and I are all fine. I cannot express enough my deepest gratitude to the numerous battalions, ladders and units that attended to us for any hours together,” Simmons, 48, wrote via Instagram Story on Saturday, December 2. “[They] quite possibly saved our lives. THANK YOU! π ❤️ π₯Ί.”
The Baby Phat designer uploaded several images of the LAFD officers on the scene, dressed in their gear putting out a blaze and smoke inside Simmons’ fireplace.
While Simmons did not reveal what had occurred or who was home at the time of the fire, she is a mother of five. Kimora shares daughters Ming, 23, and Aoki, 21, with ex-husband Russell Simmons, to whom she was married between 1998 and 2009. Kimora later welcomed son Kenzo, 14, with ex Djimon Hounsou and son Wolfe, 8, with husband Tim Leissner. Kimora also adopted son Gary, now 13, in January 2020.
“I’m blessed and super fortunate to have a boy like [Gary] and it’s been a very painless sensation. He just dropped in like he was born there,” the proud mom exclusively told Us Weekly the following March. “We’re a big group, a loud group. Everyone’s always screaming to me, ‘Mom, mom help me do this, do that’ all the time. ‘Mom, mom, mom.’ So he, in that sense, has blended right in.”
Their family raised eyebrows in June after Ming penned a Father’s Day tribute to Kimora without mentioning Russell, 66, who then seemingly alleged that his ex-wife had interfered in his parental relationship
“My father is not well, for years, he needs help and won’t accept that he refuses to acknowledge he is not himself,” Aoki chimed in via a since-deleted Instagram note and accusing Russell of verbal abuse. “He has threatened and bullied my sister, my grandma … He lashes out at ANYONE who does not say, ‘Ooh Russell everything is fine.’ Well it’s not fine.”
While Russell fervently denied the allegations before apologizing to his daughters, Kimora had Ming and Aoki’s backs. To this day, Aoki doesn’t “regret” speaking out.
“Part of it was already out there. There were reasons I thought it was reasonable to publish because it was playing out in, like, a silent bubble,” she told Teen Vogue in a September profile, insisting that they have a “normal family” despite the public drama.
Alaska Airlines Will Buy Hawaiian Airlines For $1.9B Dollars
Alaska Air Group Inc. agreed to buy rival Hawaiian Holdings Inc. for $1.9 billion in cash and debt, challenging the Biden administration’s aggressive stance on mergers that has already derailed one partnership between carriers.
Alaska will pay $18 per share in cash in a deal that includes about $900 million of Hawaiian’s debt, according to a statement Sunday. The offer — a significant premium to Hawaiian Holdings’ $4.86 closing price on Friday — sent its stock surging 174% on Monday.

Queen Latifah, Billy Crystal, Dionne Warwick, Barry Gibb and Renee Fleming are your Kennedy Center Honors for 2024
The newest group of Kennedy Center honorees, including comedian Billy Crystal and actor Queen Latifah, are being feted Sunday night at a star-studded event commemorating their lifetime achievement in arts and entertainment.
Opera singer RenΓ©e Fleming, music star Barry Gibb and prolific hitmaker Dionne Warwick also are being honored at the black-tie gala. Each will receive personalized tributes that typically include appearances and performances that are kept secret from the honorees themselves.
President Joe Biden welcomed the honorees to the White House before the event, saying that the performing arts “reflect who we are as Americans and as human beings.”
The honorees “have helped shape how we see ourselves, how we see each other and how we see our world,” said Biden who then introduced this year’s class with a set of glowing superlatives about their work.
In announcing the recipients earlier this year, the Kennedy Center’s president, Deborah F. Rutter, called this year’s group of inductees “an extraordinary mix of individuals who have redefined their art forms.”
Crystal, 75, came to national prominence in the 1970s playing Jodie Dallas, one of the first openly gay characters on American network television, on the sitcom “Soap.” He went on to a brief but memorable one-year stint on “Saturday Night Live” before starring in a string of movies, including hits such as “When Harry Met Sally… ,” “The Princess Bride” and “City Slickers.”
Crystal, who also received the Kennedy Center’s Mark Twain Prize for lifetime achievement in comedy in 2007, joins an elite group of comedians cited for both: David Letterman, Steve Martin, Lorne Michaels, Lily Tomlin, Carol Burnett and Neil Simon. Bill Cosby received both honors, but they were rescinded in 2018 following his sexual assault conviction, which later was overturned.
Warwick, 82, shot to stardom in the 1960s as the muse for the superstar songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David. Her discography includes a multidecade string of hits, both with and without Bacharach, that includes “I Say a Little Prayer,” “I’ll Never Love This Way Again” and “That’s What Friends Are For.”
Fleming, 64, is one of the leading sopranos of her era, with a string of accolades that includes a National Medal of Arts bestowed by President Barack Obama, a Cross of the Order of Merit from the German government and honorary membership in England’s Royal Academy of Music.
Gibb, 76, achieved global fame as part of one of the most successful bands in the history of modern music, the Bee Gees. Along with his late brothers Robin and Maurice, the trio launched a nearly unmatched string of hits that defined a generation of music.
Latifah, 53, has been a star since age 19 when her debut album and hit single “Ladies First” made her the first female crossover rap star. She has gone on to a diverse career that has included seven studio albums, starring roles in multiple television shows and movies and an Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her role in the movie musical “Chicago.”
Fleming and Latifah, real name Dana Owens, also share an obscure bit of Kennedy Center Honors historical trivia. They both performed at the 2014 Super Bowl. Fleming sang the national anthem while Latifah performed “America the Beautiful.”
Tamar Braxton’s Ex-FiancΓ© J.R. Admits He Went Out With ‘Love and Hip Hop’s Tommie Lee to ‘Purposely’ Hurt HerTamar Braxton and her ex-fiancΓ© Jeremy “J.R.” Robinson are claiming they are back together following their messy breakup back in October. The duo was last seen attending the Atlanta Falcons game against the New Orleans Saints game on Nov. 26, enjoying themselves at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
The “Changed” singer previously stated that she was “hurt” and “surprised” when Robinson ended their relationship, stating he wanted to “focus on getting back to positive energy.” She revealed they got back together a week after he was spotted with “Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta” star Tommie Lee at a basketball game.
Since reuniting, the two have shared cute couple’s video on Instagram Live. Robinson recently spoke about their breakup in a video shared by @tamarbraxdaily, that appears to be taken from his Instagram Live.
Social media users were shocked to see Braxton seemingly giving Robinson another chance after she and Lee exchanged fighting words online. Robinson can be seen seemingly hanging out in a nightclub as he records himself with music playing in the background.
“We’re definitely back together,” he said in the video with a glancing pause for the camera. “But, because I chose to be back together, and I love her with all my heart,” he claimed.
The couple first met while filming the dating reality show “Queens Court” on Peacock. J.R. went on to say that he didn’t hurt Braxton, who he believed would soon be explaining to the public herself.
“Now, I’m sure she is going to explain that I didn’t hurt her. I didn’t cheat on her. I didn’t break her heart. I didn’t lie to her in our relationship. But there are things that I needed to heal from,” he continued. “And that’s real.”
He went on to say the couple got engaged within six weeks of meeting on the show, which he compared to “speed dating.”
“I proposed, I loved her. Some things happened. And, do I accept responsibility for the things that I failed? Absolutely, but were there things that I needed to heal from? C’mon, absolutely. One thousand percent. Did I hurt her? Yes! Purposely,” he added, seemingly referring to his date with Lee.
“I don’t hide from that. I don’t hide from it, I don’t. I don’t, I don’t hide from that. I was single. We weren’t speaking. Period. But, I had to get to a place where my anger and hurt could heal, and I healed.”

Florence Pugh Hit in the Face by Object at 'Dune: Part Two' Panel at CCXP 2023
Things got scrappy during the Dune: Part Two cast’s appearance at CCXP 2023.
Believe it or not, Florence Pugh was hit in the face by a flying object at the convention held on Sunday (December 3) in SΓ£o Paulo, Brazil.
Also in attendance were: TimothΓ©e Chalamet, Zendaya, Austin Butler, and director Denis Villeneuve.
As the stars took a group photo, a small object came flying out of nowhere, striking Florence in the face.
The Black Widow actress looked perturbed as her co-stars made sure she was fine.
Dune: Part Two opens in theaters on March 8, 2024.
Popular 'Simpsons' character finds love and gets a wedding and viewers are pleased
A longtime recurring character — groundskeeper Willie — found love on The Simpsons Sunday, and to honor the Scottish character the episode came complete with famous Scotland-born guest stars and even a famous Scottish musical act.
With actors David Tennant and Karen Gillan lending their voices and brand new original music from Belle & Sebastian, the Scottish-centric episode brought the laughs, the drama, the tunes and left fans satisfied and not to mention happy for Willie.
Here’s a look at how the love unfolded for groundskeeper Willie. The story
When groundskeeper Willie, voiced by Dan Castellaneta and whose real name is William MacMoran MacDougal, vanishes from Springfield and ends up in Scotland, his friend Bart is under the impression that Willie is in trouble and needs his help.
So the whole Simpson family travels across the pond — with Homer’s ulterior motives involving trying to get out of going to a destination wedding with Marge — in an effort to help Willie. But when they arrive, they soon discover that the school groundskeeper is actually getting married to a character named Maisie, voiced by Marvel star Karen Gillan, and much to the dismay of Homer.
Turns out Willie used to work for her family harvesting peat in the peat bogs, which is used for making Scotch. And when Bart finds out that the family might just be using Willie for his excellent peat-sniffing nose, Bart tries to intervene at the wedding to help his friend.
But with a solid break of Willie’s nose by Maisie, thus ending his peat-sniffing future, Maisie proved her love for Willie and the wedding would presumably go on before cutting to the final credits.
Man Punched By Mike Tyson Wants To Settle For $450K
The man who was punched by boxer Mike Tyson on a Jet Blue flight will let the matter go for the price of $450,000.
Melvin Townsend, who was repeatedly punched by Tyson on an airplane in 2022, is seeking a $450,000 “pre-litigation settlement demand” for “injuries and damages” he allegedly suffered as a result of the incident, the New York Post reported.
Attorney Jake Jondle is representing Townsend and sent the demand letter to Tyson’s attorney, Alex Spiro, which noted that “immediately after the incident, Mr. Townsend had a severe headache and neck pain” and claims he is “still suffering with the effects of the assault to this day.”
Jondle also claimed that his client couldn’t get medical attention because, at the time of the incident, he didn’t have insurance and added that Townsend has lost several jobs since the incident because of the “unfortunate notoriety he experienced” following the video of the incident going viral, the Bleacher Report reported.
“As a former undisputed heavyweight champion, the potential to cause severe injuries to another person goes without question,” Jondle continued. “There were several other remedies available to Mr. Tyson, but he chose physical violence.”
But Spiro is fighting back, calling the letter a “shakedown” and said there would be no settlement payout.
The San Mateo County (California) District Attorney Office’s declined to press charges against Tyson following the incident.
At the time of the incident, Tyson’s rep released a statement saying, Townsend had been “aggressive” and “began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him.”
