#MAGFAB: Anitta Covers INSTYLE’s September Issue
Anitta, the beloved Brazilian pop star is preparing to drop her next album, and grappling with what that means for the character she created. For InStyle’s September cover, the global sensation shares how Anitta the persona was born, the future she sees ahead for herself as Larissa, and what her next album means for her identity. Plus, for the first time ever, she opens up about how a recent cancer scare shifted her mindset.
On how her character of Anitta protects her: “Anitta does everything and says everything, is not scared of anybody, fucks everybody, and sex is whatever for her,” she says, with a devil-may-care hair flip. “I just thought that if my personality was like that, maybe [a sexual assault] wouldn’t happen with me, because I was going to have so much attitude that nobody was going to have the courage to fuck with me.”
On the health scare she experienced late last year: “I had problems in my lungs, I had a cancer [scare]. I spent months in the hospital. Nobody could figure out what I had,” she recalls. A shaman was recommended to her, and Anitta began a spiritual treatment journey. “I came back completely changed,” she says as her eyes widen.
On wanting to be open about her sexuality: “Even Larissa or Anitta, both are not hypocrites,” she asserts. “This is one thing I am not, in both characters.” Still, she deals with bi-erasure. “Some people say I am a ‘fake bi,’ because I never dated a girl like a long-term relationship. But come on, even my relationships with guys cannot last more than three months,” she says, cringing.
On balancing between Anitta and Larissa in her next phase of life: “I have a lot of therapy,” she says. For a while, she didn’t “admire” the character she portrays, even she would “judge it.” “It’s like two different humans in one body,” she explains. “Because I think Anitta is pretty much a big ho,” she laughs. Jokes aside, the image she projects has impeded her ability to have it all, a point of frustration. “Right now I want to have family and stuff, but this character doesn’t let me,” she admits. For as unrelatable as Anitta may seem, feeling that your career goals and family desires are at odds is a surprisingly relatable experience. Maybe, if she slows down, “Larissa can have a personal life a little bit,” she says wistfully.
On being honest with her younger generation of fans: “They’re looking online and they’re thinking that what they see online is the truth. Everybody’s happy all the time. Everybody has a lot of money all the time, that they wake up with all the energy to work harder and harder, and they don’t feel bad, they don’t feel sad,” she says, wildly gesturing at the camera. “And I think that can be dangerous for the new generation. So, I like to be honest.”
#RHOA: Rasheeda Frost: Drew Sidora and Ty Young are ‘vibing’ as romance rumors rev up
Rasheeda Frost feels a vibe between pal Drew Sidora and Ty Young as romance rumors rev up on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
“Obviously, it’s some vibing going on, let’s just say,” the “Boss Chick” rapper says on Page Six’s “Virtual Reali-Tea” podcast while promoting her Philo series, “Boss Moves with Rasheeda.”
While Frost, 47, has made an attempt to “mind [her] damn business,” she surmises that “things be happening” amid ongoing speculation about the Bravolebrity and the former WNBA player.
“Now listen, it’s a lot, OK?” she adds. “It is what it is.”
No matter the status of Sidora and Young’s relationship, Frost just wants the “Already Know” singer to be content after filing for divorce from her now-estranged husband, Ralph Pittman, in February.
“All I say to people is, ‘Listen, life is short.’ We could wake up tomorrow and it could be something going on out of all of our control and you want to be happy at the end of the day,” she tells us. “And I think what everybody’s goal should be is to find that happy space.”
Sidora, 38, has been accused of cheating on Pittman, 40, with Young, 36, during Season 15 of “RHOA,” which airs its finale Sunday.
Sidora has been accused of cheating on now-estranged husband Ralph Pittman with the former WNBA player.
“She was cheating with a well-known basketball player,” ShereΓ© Whitfield previously alleged in a confessional. “That’s what the streets are saying.”
When a producer asked Sidora about her rumored involvement with Young, she remained coy. “I don’t know what I can say and not say,” she responded.
Speculation about Sidora and Young first came up in March when Frost’s “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” castmate Mimi Faust — who was previously engaged to the athlete — suggested they were having an affair.
“I don’t know what I can say and not say,” Sidora told a producer when asked about her alleged involvement with Young.
“What’s done in the dark will come to the light,” Faust later said in an interview with online personality Anthony Lofties.
In a preview released Thursday for the two-part “RHOA” reunion, host Andy Cohen shared alleged messages between Sidora and Young that contradict the former’s vehement denial that she was ever unfaithful.
“These are private messages between Ty and Drew,” Cohen, 55, said before handouts were passed to Kenya Moore and Kandi Burruss for review. “They’re very incriminating.”
Cohen also asked Sidora if she visited Young in Texas, to which the “CrazySexyCool” actress replied, “I saw her. I went to her game.”
Sidora’s noted frenemy Marlo Hampton expressed shock over the purported dalliance with Young as “RHOA” cameras rolled.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Drew Sidora is questioned about her alleged infidelity.
“I can’t get over she’s dating a woman, the way she is, ‘I’d never kiss a girl!'” the Le’Archive founder said of Sidora.
In a preview for the finale, Sidora is seen embracing Young as she states in a voiceover, “Don’t tell me I kissed this girl. I didn’t kiss this girl.”
Sidora did, however, get intimate with another woman while filming a movie produced by Burruss’ husband, Todd Tucker.
“They’re very incriminating,” host Andy Cohen says of alleged messages between Sidora and Young.
“When we get to those sex scenes, I’m a little nervous,” Sidora said before shooting an erotic scene with a female co-star.
It was later revealed that the steamy interaction unnerved Pittman. “Did you kiss her?” he pressed, prompting Sidora to respond, “This is work.”
Sidora and Pittman both filed for divorce — 61 minutes apart — on Feb. 27 after nine years of marriage. In court documents, Sidora accused her partner of cheating, “blatant disrespect and mental abuse.”
Sidora — who shares son Machai, 8, and daughter Aniya, 5, with Pittman — told People months later that her “boiling point” occurred when the businessman’s alleged “behavior and inappropriateness” continued when they joined the Bravo series in 2020.
In June, Pittman issued a public apology to Sidora, owning his part in “the deterioration of [their] relationship.”
Frost says on “Virtual Reali-Tea” that Sidora seemed to be in a good place following her split from Pittman.
“She’s been through a lot. I haven’t talked to her in a while. The last time I did speak to her briefly on text, she was fine. Drew is keeping it moving,” the MTV personality explains.
“She’s just got to stay focused, she’s just got to keep moving. I’m looking forward to seeing her in the future [with] what she’s doing.”
Frost is also looking forward to fans watching Season 2 of “Boss Moves with Rasheeda,” for which she interviewed “RHOA” icons Hampton, 47, and Cynthia Bailey, as well as Jermaine Dupri, Nelly and Reginae Carter, among more notable names.
Page Six caught up with Frost as she promoted Season 2 of her Philo series, “Boss Moves with Rasheeda.”
“You learn new ways to boss up all the time when you’re talking to other people, and how to make them boss moves because everybody’s doing things differently, sometimes similar,” she says of her conversations.
“But honestly, it’s all an inspiration. We’re trying to inform and give people gems, but we’re taking them in on a lot of episodes ourselves — and that’s what we do love. It’s full circle boss moves.”
New episodes of “Boss Moves with Rasheeda” drop Tuesdays on Philo.

#HipHopNews: Drake And SZA Tease Upcoming Collaboration Ahead Of 'For All The Dogs'
Drake fueled speculation regarding a new collaboration with SZA for his upcoming album For All The Dogs. The rumor mill began churning after the Toronto artist took to Instagram to share an image of Halle Berry being slimed at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. It featured a parental advisory insignia on the bottom corner with the TDE songstress being tagged.
Further stirring excitement, the “Good Days” singer mirrored Drake’s action by uploading the same image on her profile and tagging him in return. The interaction suggested a joint effort might be in the pipeline. However, fans and industry insiders are currently awaiting confirmation.
If it’s a new track, the record is expected to appear on his eighth studio album, slated for release on Sept. 22. For All The Dogs will succeed Drizzy’s 2022 solo project Honestly, Nevermind. The latter debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart despite being announced just hours before its release.
In a separate event earlier this month, the musician told the audience at his “It’s All A Blur Tour” in Austin, Texas that they could expect a new song ahead of the LP’s release. Meanwhile, the official album cover features art by the rapper’s son, Adonis.
While the recent Instagram posts drove speculation, it’s also worth noting the history between the two artists. The pair reportedly dated in the late ‘00s, which Drake revealed in 21 Savage’s 2020 track called “Mr. Right Now.”
He rapped, “Yeah, said she wanna f**k to some SZA, wait. ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08. If you cool with it, baby, she can still play.”
Contrary to the lyrics, the St. Louis native later clarified the timeline and said that it was actually a year later. She tweeted, “So it was actually 2009… In this case, a year of poetic rap license mattered. I think he just innocently rhymed ‘08 [with] wait. Anybody who really knows me and was around during this time can confirm… It’s all love, all peace.”
Jeezy files for divorce from Jeannie Mai after 2 years of marriage
Rapper Jeezy has filed for divorce from TV personality Jeannie Mai after two years of marriage.
The 45-year-old rapper, whose birth name is Jay Wayne Jenkins, filed to end his marriage on Thursday in Georgia’s Superior Court of Fulton County.
The filing says “the marriage of the parties is irretrievably broken” and “there is no hope for reconciliation.”
The pair welcomed their first child together, a daughter, in January 2022. Jeezy and Mai began dating in 2018 and were married in March 2021.
Jeezy is seeking joint legal custody of their daughter, according to the divorce documents. The two had a prenuptial agreement that Jeezy expects will be enforced, according to the filing.
Representatives for Jeezy and Jeannie Mai did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The Grammy Award-nominated rapper Jeezy exploded on the music scene in the mid-'00s and is widely considered a trailblazer of Atlanta trap. He has released 10 studio albums.
Mai, 44, is a California native and stalwart figure of daytime television best-known for her work as a host on such programs as “The Real” and “How Do I Look?”
Hugh Jackman 'Very Sad' Over His Split From Wife Deborra-Lee Furness
Hugh Jackman is reportedly "devastated" by his split from his wife Deborra-Lee Furness. The "Wolverine" actor, 54, and his 67-year-old partner, who got married in 1996 and have two adoptive kids - Oscar Maximilian Jackman, 23, and 18-year-old Ava Eliot Jackman - announced on Friday, September 15 in a joint statement they were breaking up, and told fans they felt "blessed" for the time they had together.
According to Page Six, a source close to the actor says he is reeling from the separation and feels "very sad."
Hugh had previously declared it was love at first sight with Deborra-Lee and said he knew he wanted to marry the "Shame" actress weeks after meeting her. He said on the "Today" show in 2018, "I knew two weeks into meeting Deb that we were going to be together for the rest of our lives."
Their marriage was considered one of the most stable in showbiz, but they stunned fans by issuing a joint statement to People announcing their separation.
It said, "We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage. Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth."
"Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives."
The pair signed off as "Deb and Hugh Jackman" and concluded, "This is the sole statement either of us will make."
They met on the set of TV series "Correlli" in their native Australia in 1995. The former couple were regularly spotted out together, including on rides around New York City in scooters and swimming in the Hamptons.
One of "The Greatest Showman" star Hugh's last Instagram posts with his now-estranged wife was when they attended the Met Gala together in May.
It is unclear at the moment why they decided to split so soon after the getaway. But they often faced trolling over their 13-year age-difference. In 2014, Deborra said she felt it was an insult to tell her that she was "lucky" to be married to the younger actor.
She told Woman's Weekly, "That to me is a putdown. (It's) like you suggesting I won (a)… raffle. I think we create our own destiny. When people look at my life, they don't know the challenges (I face), just like I don't know someone else's (challenges)."
Russell Brand's Alleged Victims Urged By Cops To File Police Report Amid Sexual Assault Allegations
Police have encouraged Russell Brand's alleged victims to come forward following reports of rape and sexual assault allegations against the comic. A joint investigation by The Times, The Sunday Times and Channel 4's "Dispatches" programme prompted four women to anonymously detail the alleged emotional, physical and sexual abuse they suffered at the hands of the 48-year-old comic between 2006 and 2013 at the height of his fame, and cops have confirmed they are "aware" of the allegations - which the "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" star has denied - and urged victims to file reports with them.
"We are aware of media reporting of a series of allegations of sexual assault. At this time, we have not received any reports in relation to this. If anyone believes they have been the victim of a sexual assault, no matter how long ago it happened, we would encourage them to contact police," a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said.
One woman alleges Russell raped her against a wall in his Los Angeles home. The Times said she was treated at a rape crisis centre on the same day.
A second woman alleges the actor assaulted her when he was 31 and she was 16 and still at school. She said he referred to her as "The Child" during an allegedly "emotionally abusive and controlling relationship" that reportedly lasted for about three months. The woman alleges during one encounter, she tried to push Russell off her and had to punch him in the stomach to make him stop.
A third woman claims Russell sexually assaulted her while she worked with him in Los Angeles, and that he threatened to take legal action if she told anyone else about her allegation.
The fourth detailed how she was allegedly sexually assaulted by Russell and said he was physically and emotionally abusive towards her.
All said they felt ready to speak only after being approached by reporters.
The Times said about other women accusing him that he allegedly subjected them to "physical and emotional abuse" as well as "sexual harassment and bullying." It added in its investigation piece, "Most of the women, who do not know each other, have chosen to remain anonymous."
Ahead of the outlet publishing their report, Brand shared a 2 minute, 45 second video on YouTube and X strongly denying the claims and arguing the allegations were part of a "serious, concerted agenda" to control "spaces" such as his online outlet.
He said, "I've received two extremely disturbing letters or a letter and an email. One from a mainstream media TV company, one from a newspaper listing a litany of extremely egregious and aggressive attacks, as well as some pretty stupid stuff like community festival should be stopped, that I shouldn't be able to attack mainstream media narratives on this channel."
"But amidst this litany of astonishing rather baroque attacks, often very serious allegations that I absolutely refute. These allegations pertain to the time when I was working in the mainstream, when I was in the newspapers all the time, when I was in the movies."
"And as I've written about extensively in my books, I was very, very promiscuous. Now, during that time of promiscuity, the relationships I had were absolutely always consensual. I was always transparent about that..."
"What I seriously refute are these very, very serious criminal allegations. Also, it's worth mentioning that there are witnesses whose evidence directly contradicts the narrative that these two mainstream media outlets are trying to construct, apparently, in what seems to me to be a coordinated attack. Now, I don't want to get into this any further because of the serious nature of the allegations, but I feel like I'm being attacked and plainly they're working very closely together."
Singer Irish Grinstead of the Girl Group 702 Dies at 43
Irish Grinstead, a member of the girl group 702, known for hit songs like “Where My Girls At,” has died, her sister announced Saturday. She was 43.
Grinstead’s sister and fellow group member, Lemisha Grinstead, announced the news
in an Instagram post.
“It is with great sadness that I have to let you know that my beautiful sister and friend has passed away this evening,” she wrote. “She has had a long battle and she is finally at peace. That girl was as bright as the stars! She was not only beautiful on the outside, but also within. Sharing the stage with her was a joy I will cherish for the rest of my life! We, the family ask for prayers and respect for our privacy as we grieve an outstanding loss to our family.”
While a cause of death was not given, the group announced in December that Irish was taking a “medical leave of absence due to serious medical issues.”
The group, which included the Grinstead sisters along with Kameelah Williams, took its name from the area code of their hometown, Las Vegas.
They released their debut album, No Doubt, in 1996, that featured singles including “Steelo,” which also was used as the theme song for Nickelodeon’s TV series Cousin Skeeter. Three years later, they released their second album, 702, which featured the hit song “Where My Girls At.”
With Williams temporarily replaced by Cree La’More, they released their single “Pootie Tangin'” off the soundtrack for the Chris Rock film Pootie Tang, and then Williams returned to the group shortly after. Another album, Star, followed, which featured the single “I Still Love You.”
The group took an 11-year hiatus in 2006. In 2021, the Grinstead sisters appeared in the reality series BET Presents: The Encore, which followed nine former girl-group members as they attempted to form a supergroup and create an album in 30 days.
During their career, 702 was nominated for an American Music Award, a BET Award, and multiple Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards, winning best R&B/soul album of the year by a group, band or duo for No Doubt
Jann Wenner removed from Rock & Roll Hall of Fame board after interview
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation removed Rolling Stone magazine co-founder Jann Wenner from its board of directors, the organization said Saturday.
The Rock Hall referred reporters to a publicity firm that confirmed in an emailed statement Wenner's removal from the board of the organization he helped found in 1983.
The news comes one day after The New York Times published an interview with Wenner regarding his forthcoming book, “The Masters,” which contains interviews with musicians — all white men — including Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen and Bono. Wenner was asked why the book did not include interviews with women or people of color.
"Just none of them were as articulate enough on this intellectual level," Wenner is quoted as saying about the women of rock.
In the interview he expressed similar thoughts regarding Black rock artists, some of whom created the music and culture Wenner reflected upon and profited from with Rolling Stone.
“Of Black artists — you know, Stevie Wonder, genius, right?” Wenner said, according to the interview. “I suppose when you use a word as broad as ‘masters,’ the fault is using that word. Maybe Marvin Gaye, or Curtis Mayfield? I mean, they just didn’t articulate at that level.”
Wenner said in the interview that his selection of musicians for the book was “intuitive” and “what I was interested in,” and acknowledged that there might be criticism of his choice.
“You know, just for public relations sake, maybe I should have gone and found one Black and one woman artist to include here that didn’t measure up to that same historical standard, just to avert this kind of criticism,” he said in the interview. “Which, I get it. I had a chance to do that.”
On Saturday night, Wenner released a statement apologizing for his comments.
"In my interview with The New York Times I made comments that diminished the contributions, genius, and impact of Black and women artists and I apologize wholeheartedly for those remarks," he said.
The author said the forthcoming book, was "not meant to represent the whole of music and it’s diverse and important originators but to reflect the high points of my career and interviews I felt illustrated the breadth and experience in that career."
Wenner said he has an admiration for “world-changing artists” not represented in the book whom he “will celebrate and promote as long as I live.”
His publisher, Little, Brown & Company, did not respond to a request seeking comment Saturday night.
Wenner's remarks in The New York Times interview have been widely criticized.
Evelyn McDonnell, a Loyola Marymount University journalism professor and expert on music, gender, and politics, said on Facebook that Wenner expressed sexism and racism for decades that underly many “false ‘master’ narratives about music history.”
She said such exclusion inspired her to curate and edit the book “Rock She Wrote” in 1995 with NPR pop critic Ann Powers, report on the Hall of Fame's gender inequity, and edit the book “Women Who Rock.”
Author Dawnie Walton called Wenner's quoted words "enraging, disgusting, offensive."
Craig Seymour, who identifies himself as a “Black Gay Music Critic,” said on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, that the popular music industry includes "an oppressive system of value that Rolling Stone helped create and perpetuate."
Rolling Stone was well-known for initially snubbing waves of music, from hip-hop to electronic dance music, that may have existed outside its vision of rock 'n' roll culture — a vision usually dominated by white, Baby Boomer-created music with poetic aspiration and anti-establishment undertones.
Wenner founded Rolling Stone with journalist Ralph J. Gleason in San Francisco in 1967.
Lauren Boebert Apologizes After Being Removed From Theater For Vaping & Inappropriate Behavior
Colorado US Representative Lauren Boebert is clearing the air after being caught blowing smoke in the theater.
The conservative member of the United States House of Representatives was escorted out of showing of the stage version of Beetlejuice in Denver, Colorado on Sunday (September 10).
According to the Colorado Sun, she was accused of using a vape and being loud with a male companion who joined her. Lauren‘s team initially denied that she was using a vape while in her seat but addressed her being removed from the show.
Video footage from within the venue disproved her claims, prompting a response.
9News obtained security footage that showed Lauren using a camera to take photos with the flash on and releasing a puff of smoke from a vape. You can see the footage in the clip above.
In the aftermath, she issued a statement that accepted responsibility.
Lauren said that the experience had been “difficult and humbling.”
“While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that,” she said, citing challenges as she navigates a divorce.
The politician said that she “genuinely did not recall vaping” in the theater. “Regardless of my belief, it’s clear now that was not accurate.”
“I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That’s unacceptable and I’m sorry,” Lauren said.
Earlier this year, one of Lauren‘s fellow conservative representatives called her a “little b-tch” on the House Floor. They then explained why.
Read Lauren Boebert’s full statement below…
“The past few days have been difficult and humbling, and I’m truly sorry for the unwanted attention my Sunday evening in Denver has brought to the community. While none of my actions or words as a private citizen that night were intended to be malicious or meant to cause harm, the reality is they did and I regret that.”
“There’s no perfect blueprint for going through a public and difficult divorce, which over the past few months has made for a challenging personal time for me and my entire family. I’ve tried to handle it with strength and grace as best I can, but I simply fell short of my values on Sunday. That’s unacceptable and I’m sorry.”
“Whether it was the excitement of seeing a much-anticipated production or the natural anxiety of being in a new environment, I genuinely did not recall vaping that evening when I discussed the night’s events with my campaign team while confirming my enthusiasm for the musical. Regardless of my belief, it’s clear now that was not accurate. It was not my or my campaign’s intention to mislead, but we do understand the nature of how this looks. We know we will have to work to earn your trust back and it may not happen overnight, but we will do it.”
Balmain Head Olivier Rousteing Reveals Brand's Collection was 'Highjacked' Before Big Runway Show
Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing is sharing some very sad news.
The designer took to social media on Saturday (September 16) to reveal that a group of people had stolen pieces from the fashion house’s upcoming line in the leadup to their next big runway show.
Olivier shared the news on Instagram, revealing that the theft happened while a driver was moving the pieces from the airport to the brand’s headquarters.
“Today I went to the office at 9 am waiting for the last pieces for our show , our Balmain show in September. I was starting to create some looks with my team and our driver called us and said that he was highjacked by a group of people,” he wrote. “More than 50 Balmain pieces stolen. He was driving from the airport to the Balmain headquarter.”
He continued, writing, “This is so unfair. My team and I worked so hard. We will work more , days and nights, our suppliers will work days and night as well but this is so disrespectful. I wanted to share this with you to remind you , don’t take anything for guaranteed and please be safe. This is the world we are living in.”
There was some good news, though. “Thank god , the driver is safe,” Olivier informed his followers.
We are so sorry that this happened and hope that everything can come together before their show!

Halle Berry says Drake didn't have permission to use her image on new single: "I thought better of him"
Anitta, the beloved Brazilian pop star is preparing to drop her next album, and grappling with what that means for the character she created. For InStyle’s September cover, the global sensation shares how Anitta the persona was born, the future she sees ahead for herself as Larissa, and what her next album means for her identity. Plus, for the first time ever, she opens up about how a recent cancer scare shifted her mindset.

Diddy is back with his first solo official album since the 2006 project “Press Play”.

Halle Berry says Drake didn't have permission to use her image on new single: "I thought better of him"
Halle Berry isn’t too happy about Drake’s new single cover. On Friday, the rapper dropped his latest track, representing his inaugural partnership with SZA. However, the single’s artwork prominently showcases a snapshot of Berry being doused in slime during the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
A few days prior, both Drake and SZA shared the single covers on their individual Instagram accounts, hinting at their forthcoming collaboration without explicitly revealing the details regarding the project or its release date.
Shortly after, Berry made an Instagram post featuring a pink square with the message, “Sometimes you have to be the bigger guy… even if you’re a woman!” In the comments section, one user inquired about Berry’s thoughts on Drake using her photo for the single’s artwork.
“Didn’t get my permission,” she wrote. “That’s not cool I thought better of him!” She said, following up that comment with another one, adding, “hence my post today. When people you admire disappoint you you have to be the bigger person and move on !”
During his Austin, Texas tour stop on Monday, Drake announced the upcoming single. He expressed his awareness of the anticipation among his fans for the album, scheduled for release on September 22nd. Therefore, he decided to release the single earlier than originally planned to meet their excitement.
“What a time, what a time. I appreciate y’all,” he said. “Deeply, by the way, I do. It’s a lot of love.”
Armed Man Who Attempted To Approach Robert Kennedy Jr. During Campaign Event Arrested
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the arrest of an armed man who dressed up as a U.S. Marshal at a Robert Kennedy Jr. campaign event in Los Angeles, California, on Friday.
A spokesperson for the department made a statement to ABC News saying a radio call was generated around 4:30 p.m. PT reporting a man with “a loaded gun in a shoulder holster and a badge stating he was a U.S. Marshal.”
LAPD officers arrived shortly after the report and arrested the man. The FBI was also at the scene.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Kennedy said that members of his private security detail from Gavin de Becker and Associates “spotted and detained an armed man” who tried to approach him during a campaign speech on Hispanic Heritage Month at the Wilshire Ebell Theater.
The suspect was identified as a Hispanic male with tattoos on his arms, neck, and hands.
“The suspect never brandished the gun or threatened anyone. He was taken to Wilshire Station where there was talk of [the] FBI possibly handling,” said the LAPD.
It’s expected that the suspect will receive gun charges.
In July, DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and a bipartisan committee rejected a request from Kennedy for Secret Service protection after a 67-page report that detailed a “unique and well-established security and safety risks aside from commonplace death threats” was submitted.
Kennedy’s father and uncle were both assassinated. He has again raised the issue of a Secret Service detail in his statement on Friday night, claiming he was the “first presidential candidate in history” to be denied protection upon request.
“I’m still entertaining a hope that President Biden will allow me Secret Service protection,” Kennedy said.
