#MAGFAB: Eileen Gu Ignites Three Vogue Hong Kong January 2023
Fresh off her Harper’s Bazaar Singapore December 2022 cover story, Olympian freestyle skier and Louis Vuitton face Eileen Gu poses for three January 2023 covers of Vogue Hong Kong.
Gu is now the third highest-paid female athlete in the world after Naomi Osaka and Serena Williams. If you are confused, Forbes writes that Osaka’s contracts say she doesn’t even have to play tennis, let alone win. There has been no pushback on the Forbes assertion about Osaka’s 2021 financial dominance. Naomi’s top-dog earnings status is on cruise control until her contract runs out.

Anya Ziourova styles Gu’s fashion story ‘New Year. New Rules’, lensed by Paola Kudacki [IG]. Speaking of Serena Williams, Kudacki won a TIME Best Portraits of 2022 Award for her portrait of the GOAT tennis star.

This epic blue butterflywings top is by Marta Martino, with a Paco Rabanne shimmering silver metallic flounce dress also driving dazzle. Add a Fendi jumpsuit, lavish amounts of Louis Vuitton fashion and all Tiffany & Co jewelry including Tiffany Hardware and Tiffany Lock pieces.

Eileen Gu’s interview is familiar terrain. The 19-year-old doesn’t come to play. Her self-discipline and healthy understanding of how to control of her emotions — rather than them controlling her — is worth a serious deep dive in the future.
She has signed on to present to the International Olympics Committee awarding the winter games for both 2030 and again for 2034, if America doesn’t win 2030.

After retiring from sports, Eileen Gu can become the ambassador to China for either a Republican or Democratic administration. That is the amount of intellectual capital and poise this young Stanford woman possesses.
You can harp that she is privileged [not sure why — the girl got a 1580 SAT to enter Stanford] but AOC calls her uber-talented, self-disciplined and low on arrogance.
Gu is someone who sets a very high-bar for herself — while never reminding you how great she is. How Gu navigates all this pressure she has experienced over which team she plays for — to say nothing of defying gravity on the slopes — is an outstanding source of inspiration for young women.

Eileen Gu and Simone Biles both approach their demanding excellence with razor-edge precision.

#RHOA: Phaedra Parks May Be Joining Married to Medicine?
The Real Housewives of Atlanta fans have begged for Phaedra Parks to return, but she says she’s got her eyes set on other things. She’s appeared on other reality shows, including Marriage Boot Camp and The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, the latter of which aired on both Bravo and Peacock. Now, it appears Parks may potentially join another show on Bravo.

Phaedra Parks is reportedly joining ‘Married to Medicine’
Parks remains close friends with other Bravolebrtities, both on her former show and others, including Married to Medicine. She spends a lot of time with Quad Webb, and revealed during BravoCon 2022 that she’s dating a doctor, who many speculate to be friends with Webb.
While on a panel with her co-stars from Season 2 of Ultimate Girls’ Trip and others, Parks told the audience, “I actually date a doctor. I don’t want to tell you about him, but I’ve dated a doctor for some time… Almost a year.”

Sources tell TheYBF.com that Parks is joining Married to Medicine. RHOA producers reportedly tried to get her to come back to the show, but she allegedly asked for too big a salary. Married to Medicine has had equally big ratings, and is said to have a budget for what she’s asking for.

Production for Season 9 wrapped in Dec. 2023, with filming for Season 10 likely to begin soon. Parks would likely get introduced to the show by Webb. The two have shot scenes together before on the show.

Though he left the band in the '80s, Fred returned for their induction ceremony to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.
"He joins our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and is now drumming with the angels!" Verdine White, Fred's brother and founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire, wrote on Instagram. But more than that at home and beyond he was the wonderful bro that was always entertaining and delightfully mischievous!"

Bills Safety Damar Hamlin collapses and is given CPR on the field, Is in critical Condition
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is in critical condition in a Cincinnati hospital after collapsing on the field Monday night in a game against the Bengals that was postponed.

Multiple Bills and Bengals players gathered around Hamlin in extreme concern as he was down and being helped by athletic trainers after he collapsed following a tackle. Hamlin took a big hit in the chest area during the first quarter in a collision with Bengals receiver Tee Higgins, who was running upfield after a catch. Hamlin got up after the play, then suddenly collapsed.

Reporters at the stadium said Hamlin was given CPR on the field. More than 15 minutes passed from the time Hamlin collapsed to when he was taken off the field. A little after 10 p.m. ET, ESPN said on the broadcast that the game was suspended for the night, without an immediate update on whether or when the game would be played.
The NFL put out a statement that said, in part, that Hamlin was in critical condition at a local hospital.

Jordon Rooney, who said he is Hamlin's marketing representative, offered an update saying Hamlin's vital were "back to normal" and he was put to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat.
Quarterback Josh Allen asked for prayers for Hamlin from his Twitter followers.
Higgins also sent out his best wishes to his fellow competitor.

After the injury, both coaches met with on-field officials. At about 9:17 p.m., a little more than 20 minutes after Hamlin collapsed, officials said the game was temporarily suspended. Both teams headed back to the locker room. Less than an hour later, after ESPN showed footage of Bills head coach Sean McDermott and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor taking turns talking on a cell phone outside of the locker rooms underneath the stadium, the game was suspended.

NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent said during a conference call that the league could see the players and coaches were "traumatized" as it discussed suspending the game.

Vincent said the Bills were planning to return to Buffalo, with some players staying behind to be near Hamlin.

It was a frightening situation. ESPN showed several players, including Allen, who were emotional over what they had seen. Bills receiver Stefon Diggs was in tears on the field. He later, according to ESPN's Coley Harvey, took an Uber to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where Hamlin is being treated.
An ambulance came on the field. Reporters, including ESPN sideline reporter Lisa Salters, said Hamlin received CPR on the field. After a long delay, Hamlin was put on a backboard and loaded into the ambulance. As the ambulance left the field, the Bills took a knee in prayer.

“I’ve never seen anything like that before,” a somber Kurt Warner said on the NFL Radio broadcast.

Hamlin, who is 24 years old, was a sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft out of Pittsburgh. He became a starter in Week 3 this season and has been a starter for the Bills since then.

Brazil holds 24-hour wake for 'king of soccer' Pele
Long lines snaked outside Vila Belmiro stadium, home of the Santos Football Club, to see Pele, who died last week at the age of 82 after battling colon cancer.
His body arrived early Monday morning in Santos, where he lived most of his life, after traveling from Sao Paulo's Albert Einstein Hospital.

Former Brazil midfielder Ze Roberto and Pele's son helped place his coffin in the center of the field.
Some fans wiped away tears as they crossed the pitch. Others waiting outside to pay their respects credited Pele with elevating Brazil's standing in the world.

“It’s the loss of an idol for everyone, a great person who raised the country’s name in all parts of the globe.”
Pele, who scored more than 1,000 goals for Santos, is the only man to win the World Cup three times as a player.

The city's press office said some 5,000 journalists from all over the world had been accredited to cover the wake.
Sao Paulo state military police said in a statement they had prepared a special operation called the "King Pele Operation" to ensure public order.

On Tuesday, a procession carrying Pele's coffin will pass through the streets of Santos, ending at the Ecumenical Memorial Necropolis cemetery, where he will be buried in a private ceremony.

Bad Bunny Breaks Silence After He's Caught Throwing A Fan's Phone Into Water
Bad Bunny has something important to explain. The "Me Porto Bonito" crooner has issued a statement after a viral video caught him throwing a fan's cell phone in water after the young female fan appeared to take selfies with him.

On Monday, January 2, the "Un Verano Sin Ti" artist turned to his Twitter account to address the matter. In his tweet, he said he draws a line between fans who want to create a genuine interaction versus the ones looking for social media clout, which he considers an act of disrespect.

"La persona que se acerque a mi a saludarme, a decirme algo, o solo conocerme, siempre recibira mi atencion y respeto. Los que vengan a ponerme un cabron telefono en la cara lo considerare como lo que es, una falta de respeto y así mismo lo tratare yo," he wrote on Spanish, adding the hashtag "#SINCOJONESMETIENE."

The tweet translates to, "The person who comes up to me to say hello, to tell me something, or just to meet me, will always receive my attention and respect. Those who come to put a f**king phone in my face I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect, and I will treat it likewise."

The said clip that has gone viral on social media saw Bad Bunny being approached by an eager fan attempting to take selfies with the 28-year-old star. He's then seen grabbing the phone and tossing it away into the water nearby as the female fan looked on, horrified.

The footage has divided his fans. Some could understand why Bad Bunny did so. "People are always putting phones in his face and invading his space. He probably tolerates it for the most part but you never know when someone has had enough," one fan opined. A second added, "Ppl need to understand personal space and boundaries."

Others, meanwhile, suggested the female fan sue him for throwing her phone. "I would've sued him respectfully! I get it but that was unnecessary!" one person remarked, with another pointing out, "I would be sending him my bill. My thing is if you don't want no pics or vids cool then just say that but to go and snatch and then throw the phone is crazy to me. Was all of that really necessary." Someone else chimed in, "did he tell her that she was doing too much or ask her to move? If not very uncalled for."

Aside from the incident, Bad Bunny, born Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio, recently announced he's taking a break in 2023. "I'm taking a break," he confirmed to Billboard. "2023 is for me, for my physical health, my emotional health to breathe, enjoy my achievements. We're going to celebrate. Let's go here, let's go there, let's go on the boat. I have a couple of sporadic commitments, and I'll go to the studio, but there's no pressure. Remember yourself, cabron. You've worked your a** off."

"I'm at a point where, no matter what happens, I'm not looking for anything to happen," the "Titi Me Pregunto" crooner continued. "For example, I wasn't looking for a collab with Drake. It was very spontaneous. Now it's different. Now everybody, the biggest artist you can think of, wants to collaborate with me."

Tennis Legend Martina Navratilova is diagnosed with Stage 1 throat, breast cancer
Tennis great Martina Navratilova said Monday that she has been diagnosed with throat cancer and breast cancer.
In a statement released by her representative, the 18-time Grand Slam singles champion and member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame said her prognosis is good and she will start treatment this month.

“This double whammy is serious but still fixable, and I’m hoping for a favorable outcome,” the 66-year-old Navratilova said. “It’s going to stink for a while but I’ll fight with all have I got.”

She said she noticed an enlarged lymph node in her neck while attending the season-ending WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Texas, in November, and a biopsy showed early stage throat cancer. While Navratilova was undergoing tests on her throat, she said, the unrelated, early stage breast cancer was discovered.

“Needless to say my phone and twitter are both blowing up so I will say again - thank you all for your support and I am not done yet,” she tweeted Monday.
Navratilova was diagnosed with a noninvasive form of breast cancer in 2010 and had a lumpectomy.

She won 59 Grand Slam titles overall, including 31 in women’s doubles and 10 in mixed doubles. The last was a mixed doubles championship with Bob Bryan at the 2006 U.S. Open, a month shy of her 50th birthday.
Navratilova originally retired in 1994, after a record 167 singles titles and 331 weeks at No. 1 in the WTA rankings. She returned to the tour to play doubles in 2000 and occasionally competed in singles, too.

Navratilova was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2000. She has worked as a TV analyst in recent years.

The statement issued Monday said Navratilova would not be a regular part of Tennis Channel’s coverage of the Australian Open later this month “but hopes to be able to join in from time to time” via video conference.

‘Wednesday’ could leave Netflix for season two
A potential second season of Wednesday could see the show leaving Netflix, some are speculating.
According to Netflix, Wednesday racked up 341.2million hours of viewing worldwide in its opening week.

This dethroned a record held by Stranger Things season four (with 335 million hours) as the best opening week for any English language series on the platform. The show broke its own record the week after, reaching 400 million hours within a single week.
Despite this, a second season has yet to be officially confirmed by the streaming service, an irregularity based on both common modern trends and the show’s record-breaking success.

This, teamed with the recent purchase of the show’s studio Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) to Amazon, hint that Netflix may lose the rights to the show for any potential second season.

However, Deadline report that Amazon’s MGM deal doesn’t automatically ensure that all content from the producer becomes exclusive to Amazon Prime Video, so Netflix may yet retain the rights for Wednesday season two.
Created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the series follows Wednesday Addams’ life as a student at supernatural boarding school Nevermore Academy.

In a four-star review of season one, NME wrote: “If there’s one thing fans of The Addams Family should know before watching Netflix reboot Wednesday, it’s to expect the unexpected.
“Yes, the look – the pigtails, pale skin, pinstripes – is similar to the ‘90s classic. Yes, she remains po-faced and prickly. Yes, it’s still set in a creepy mansion. But dip a toe beyond the first few episodes, and you’ll find a very different Wednesday to the one we’ve come to know.”

Mekhi Phifer confirms there will not be a sequel to '8 Mile'
Many fans of the iconic hip hop movie 8 Mile suggested a part two, unfortunately, we won’t be getting one. Today (Jan. 2), TMZ caught up with one of the stars of the film, Mekhi Phifer, and he said a follow-up to 8 Mile isn’t happening.

“Sometimes it’s best to just leave it at one,” said Phifer, who played a character named Future in the movie. “Once you make a classic, no reason to fool around with it,” he added.

When the reporter asked if there has been any conversation about making a sequel, he simply responded “Nope.” Although he did admit a part two of the story “could be interesting,” he said he wouldn’t be in it and he doubts Eminem, who played B Rabbit’s character, would appear in the project.

“The story that we told is the story,” he said. “You know, I mean, it could be interesting, but I wouldn’t be in it, and I’m sure Eminem wouldn’t be in it either… I think, you know, leave the classics alone and it’ll be all good. Let’s just live with the 8 Mile.”

Phifer, who recently celebrated his 48th birthday on Dec. 29, added that he and the Detroit rapper still keep in contact and he said Eminem is currently focused on his music career.

Just yesterday (Jan. 1), Slim Shady became YouTube’s most-viewed rapper of 2022, with over 5 billion plays, and in November, he became the 10th hip hop artist inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. He joins JAY-Z, LL Cool J, The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, N.W.A, Public Enemy, Beastie Boys, Run-DMC and Grandmaster Flash, and the Furious Five as the only rap acts to join the exclusive club.

8 Mile is a 2002 American drama film written by Scott Silver and directed by Curtis Hanson. The movie is based on Eminem’s come-up in the rap game. According to Box Office Mojo, it celebrated its 20th anniversary last month and grossed $242,875,078 worldwide. Eminem also won an Oscar for his performance.

Janet Jackson Is creating a non-toxic working environment for her World Tour!
Janet Jackson is determined to create a "non-toxic working environment" for her upcoming tour.
The 56-year-old singer plans to follow the example of Beyonce, who previously vetted producers and rejected songs by artists for her 'Renaissance' album if they faced abuse or harassment allegations.

A source told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "Janet is taking a leaf out of Beyonce’s book and is implementing #MeToo checks as she prepares for her 'Together Again' tour.
"The checks will see everyone from her dancers and band mates to crew and general staff vetted to ensure they don’t have a history of abuse.

"It’s not cheap to do but for Janet and those close to her, creating a safe and kind work environment is more important than profits.

"She also wants a completely non-toxic working environment for all her staff and by implementing these early checks she is eradicating the risk."

Janet is absolutely determined that nothing will derail her upcoming tour.

The insider explained: "Janet’s 'Together Again' tour is expected to generate over $70 million and will be a massive event. A show that big and of the scale Janet plans cannot afford anything to happen to it.
"Janet is determined everyone working on the tour can be completely comfortable and that they are in a safe environment."

In December, Janet announced details of 'Together Again', her first tour in four years.
The chart-topping star told her fans that she couldn't wait to see them again.

Janet - who will perform in North America in April 2023 - said on Instagram: "You guys, I miss you so much, I am so excited to see you. You guys have no idea, I’ve missed you so much, so much, and I can’t wait to be with you. I’m so excited."

Prince Harry says he wants his father and brother back
Prince Harry has said he wants to have his father and brother back and that he wants “a family, not an institution,” during a TV interview ahead of the publication of his memoir.

The interview with Britain's ITV channel is due to be released this Sunday. In clips released Monday, Harry was shown saying that “they feel as though it is better to keep us somehow as the villains” and that "they have shown absolutely no willingness to reconcile” — though it was not clear who he was referring to.

Harry, also known as the Duke of Sussex, and his wife Meghan have aired their grievances against the British monarchy since the couple stepped down as senior royals in 2020 and moved to California, where they now live with their two young children.

Harry, 38, has previously spoken about his estrangement from his father, King Charles III, and elder brother Prince William since his departure from the U.K.

Last month Netflix released “Harry & Meghan,” a six-part series that detailed the couple's experiences leading to their decision to make a new start in the U.S.

In that documentary, Harry was scathing about how the royal press team worked, and spoke about how his relationship with William and the rest of the royal household broke down. Meghan described wanting to end her life as she struggled to cope with toxic U.K. press coverage.

Harry's autobiography, titled “Spare” — recalling the saying “the heir and the spare” — is being released on Jan. 10.

General Mills Introduces S’mores Flavored Lucky Charms and Hot Wheels Cereal
General Mills has been busy and decided to drop not one but two new kinds of cereal.
They are expanding the brand’s portfolio with new Lucky Charms cereal but flavored S’mores. The cereal will have graham pieces, chocolate-flavored cereal pieces, and marshmallows in the shape of the iconic Lucky Charms.

While they plan on making a sweet cereal, the Hot Wheels cereal will be fruitier with “fruit-flavored” corn puffs and marshmallows in the shapes of lightning bolts, flames, and star designs, which is totally on brand for Hot Wheels.

In addition to the new cereals, the brand transformed its most popular cereals, Reese’s Puffs, Trix, and Cinnamon Crunch, into mini cereals.

“Sometimes the best new innovation is the smallest one,” said Mindy Murray, Sr. Marketing Communications Manager at General Mills. “There’s such a love right now for full-size things that have been shrunk into mini versions, and we realized we could do the same with our cereals. We can’t wait for families to try the cutest new way to experience their favorites one BIG (little) bite at a time.”

Which cereal will you be buying?

Oregon Woman Arrested After Video Shows Her Pushing 3-Year-Old Onto Train Tracks
An Oregon woman is being held without bail after she was taken into custody for allegedly pushing a 3-year-old child onto train tracks while the child and mother were waiting for their train to arrive, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement.
Brianna Lace Workman, 32, is accused of shoving the child face-first  onto the tracks of the Gateway Transit Center MAX platform in Northeast Portland without “provocation.” In the video, you can see a bystander rescuing the child from the tracks before a train came.
According to the sheriff department, the 3-year-old only suffered a severe headache and a red mark on their forehead from hitting their face on the track.

“There’s no excuse for that. I don’t understand why someone would do something like that,” MAX rider Blaine Danley said while speaking on the incident.
Workman was charged with attempted assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, interfering with public transportation, disorderly conduct in the second degree and recklessly endangering another person.

According to multiple reports the child didn’t do anything to provoke this attack.

14 Dead, Two Dozen Escape After Gunmen Attack Mexico Prison
14 people were killed and at least 24 inmates escaped after gunmen opened fire at a prison in Mexico early Sunday morning.
In a statement obtained by ABC News, the Chihuahua state prosecutor’s office said gunfire erupted between an unspecified number of individuals and guards after several armored vehicles arrived at a state prison in Ciudad Juárez around 7 a.m., NPR reports. Juárez mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar informed local media that these gunmen managed to enter the prison.

Among the 14 dead, 10 were security personnel and four were inmates, according to Reuters. An additional 13 inmates sustained injuries.

A nearby attack on local police reportedly occurred minutes prior to the prison shooting. Following the incident at the prison, two drivers were killed in a different part of the city. By Sunday afternoon, the Mexican military, the national guard, and local police were able to quell the situation. Four men were detained, and a truck was seized.

Nearly 200 Inmates Escape After Gruesome Brazil Prison Riots Leave at Least 56 Dead
Authorities could not confirm at the time if the two separate incidents and the prison attack were connected.

NPR reports government officials suspect members of an organized crime group known as the Mexicles were behind the incident, given their years of involvement in similar attacks throughout the city of Juárez that were ordered from within the prison.

According to Reuters, hundreds of Mexican soldiers went to a Juárez prison in August when tensions boiled over between two rival gangs, Los Mexicles and Los Chapos, resulting in a shootout and subsequent riot that killed 11 people.

Maine Teen Accused Of Possible Terrorist Attack After Striking Three NYPD Officers With A Machete On New Year’s Eve
A Maine teenager has been accused of a possible terrorist attack after striking three New York City Police Officers with a machete on New Year’s Eve.
Trevor Bickford, 19, allegedly struck two of the officers in the head with the large knife. One officer suffered a laceration, and the other suffered a broken skull. All three officers were brought to a hospital and are expected to recover.

The attack happened around 10 p.m. on Friday, just blocks from the city’s Times Square ball drop area. Bickford was shot and wounded in the shoulder during the assault and transported to a hospital. He has not yet been formally charged.

Police sources told the New York Post that Bickford has been staying at the Bowery Mission. A search of his room turned up a sheath for the machete, knives, and religious material. It’s believed that the teen turned to religion following the overdose death of his father in 2018.
Sources say that Bickford became “radicalized” recently, and a handwritten manifesto was found in his backpack. He addressed his family in the note, asking them to turn to Islam.

“To my family — specifically, mother — I’m sorry for not having been a good enough son,” a police source told the outlet,” he wrote, according to a police source.

“I fear greatly that you will not repent to Allah,” the note read. “And therefore I hold hope in my heart that a piece of you believes so that you may be taken out to the hellfire.
In addition to his mother, he directly addressed both of his brothers.
“To [my brother] Travis. Of anyone I’ve known who I have felt is closest to faith — it’s you,” he allegedly wrote. “Of anyone I’ve ever wanted to accept Islam with me — it’s you. Please repent to Allah and accept Islam. I fear for you.

He used to be close to his other brother, Devon, who is reportedly a Marine. Bickford referred to him as having joined his “enemy.”

“To Devon, there was a time when we were close, but that time has passed. You have joined the ranks of my enemy. And for that I can give you no kind words – return to Allah.”

The attack is being investigated as a possible act of terrorism because of the weapon used and online postings Bickford made. The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is assisting the NYPD in the investigation.
