#MAGFAB: Serena Williams and her daughter Olympia Ohanian for Vogue US
"I definitely don't want to be pregnant again as an athlete"
Serena Williams says she plans on growing her family following her retirement from tennis.
In an essay for the September 2022 issue of Vogue -- of which she graces the cover alongside her 4-year-old daughter Olympia -- the professional athlete shared she and her husband Alexis Ohanian "have been trying" for baby no. 2.
However, Serena -- who explained her decision to "move on from playing tennis" sometime after the U.S. Open in the essay -- stressed that she doesn't want to be pregnant while she's still on the court.
"In the last year, Alexis and I have been trying to have another child, and we recently got some information from my doctor that put my mind at ease and made me feel that whenever we’re ready, we can add to our family," explained Serena, 40. "I definitely don't want to be pregnant again as an athlete. I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out."
The 23-time Grand Slam champion also opened up about balancing playing tennis and having a family, noting that she doesn't believe it's "fair" for women in sports, such as herself, to often have to choose.
"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family," she wrote. "I don't think it's fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn't be writing this because I'd be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I'd be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity."
"Don't get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital -- although things got super complicated on the other side," continued Serena, who had a pulmonary embolism after delivering Olympia through emergency C-section in 2017.
She added, "And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don't realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017. But I'm turning 41 this month, and something’s got to give."
Meanwhile, also in her essay, the tennis pro admitted that "earlier" in her career, she didn't think about being a mother.
"There were times when I've wondered if I should ever bring kids into this world, with all its problems," she wrote. "I was never that confident or comfortable around babies or children, and I figured that if I ever did have a baby, I would have people taking care of it 24/7. I’m not going to lie—I definitely have a lot of support."
Serena added that she's a "incredibly hands-on mother," joking that Alexis would say she's "too hands-on." She continued by speaking more about motherhood and her love for her daughter.
"In five years, Olympia has only spent one 24-hour period away from me," Serena shared. "This past year, while I was recovering from a hamstring injury, I got to pick her up from school four or five days a week, and I always looked forward to seeing her face light up when she walked out of the building and saw me waiting there for her."
"The fact is that nothing is a sacrifice for me when it comes to Olympia."
The September 2022 issue of Vogue hits newsstands August 16.
#RHOA: Sanya Responds to Drew Saying Her Style Is “Giving Foot Locker Outlet”
During a game on the July 31 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the titular host asked guest Drew Sidora which of her The Real Housewives of Atlanta castmates has the “most frightening sense of style.” After quickly naming Sanya Richards-Ross, Drew went on to explain, “It’s giving Foot Locker outlet.”
Of course, when Sanya stopped by the Clubhouse on August 7, Andy asked for her thoughts on the comment, and Sanya didn’t hold back. “Well, first of all, the stuff I get from Nike, you cannot find at Foot Locker, OK?” the Olympic gold medalist said. “I am a 20-year ambassador. The stuff I get is shipped directly to me, OK? So there’s that.”
As for what Sanya thinks of Drew’s style, after noting that “some of the girls were calling [Drew], like, Punky Brewster,” she declared that she’d describe Drew’s fashion sense as “Punky Brewster–esque.” Press play on the video above to see more of Sanya’s WWHL appearance!
On The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 14 After Show, Drew opened up about her own style, admitting that she was “just trying to do better” this season than she did in her first season on RHOA. “This whole season, [I’m] trying to step it up,” she shared. Watch the video below to hear more.

A year after announcing that she was taking a hiatus from music, the Aussie rapper is readying her return.
Taking to Twitter on Monday, Iggy revealed that she decided to step away to avoid “negative energy,” but she still faced negativity even when she wasn’t making music.
“A year ago I was willing to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted,” she told fans. “But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m minding my business, y’all gonna be negative AND nosey.”

#JUSTMARRIED! Taika Waititi and Rita Ora
Rita Ora is ready to let Taika Waititi love her forever. About a year after the two first sparked romance rumors, a source confirms to E! News that they are married.
Eagle-eyed fans have had their focus on the duo ever since April 2021, when they were spotted getting cozy in one of the singer's Instagram posts.
"Good times, memories, random things on my phone," Rita captioned a series of pics at the time, one of which featured Taika with his arms wrapped around her. "And the ones I love." And the good times kept rolling, with the two attending the world premiere of RuPaul's Drag Race Down Under at Australia's famed Sydney Opera House just a little over a week later.
However, it wasn't until August that the pair made their official red carpet debut as a couple at the Suicide Squad 2 premiere in Los Angeles, which was followed up by an appearance at the premiere of Marvel's Eternals in October.
And with that came the start of the pair showing fans just how they do it as a Hollywood couple.
In fact, after the Eternals premiere, Taika took to social media to put an extra spotlight on his date for the evening. "I felt like I got a lot of attention at the #Eternals premiere last night," he wrote on Instagram. "Maybe it was my date (it was definitely my date), or maybe it was this sick @thombrowne suit (it was my date) ...I guess no one will ever know."
He garnered even more buzz that November at the Europe Music Awards, where the producer took his role of Rita's right-hand man and personal photographer very seriously.
But for all the adorable joint appearances made throughout their whirlwind courtship, the two have remained tight-lipped about their romance. When asked about her budding relationship in September 2021, Rita told Vogue Australia, "I'm in a great place in my life. That's all I'm going to say about that."
Looks like that place just got even greater.

Albuquerque Police Arrest Primary Suspect in Killings of 4 Muslim Men
Police announced a breakthrough Tuesday in the killings of four Muslim men in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to Chief Harold Medina, authorities tracked down a vehicle that was linked with a killing and detained a man who is believed to be connected to all four murders.
Each of the victims of the slayings shared common elements relating to race and religion. The first victim, 62-year-old Mohammad Ahmadi, was killed on Nov. 7. Two Pakistani men, 41-year-old Aftab Hussein and 27-year-old Muhammad Afzaal Hussain, were killed on July 26 and Aug. 1.
Another victim, 25-year-old Naeem Hussain, also from Pakistan, and was shot to death last Friday (Aug. 5).
“The driver was detained and he is our primary suspect for the murders,” said Medina via Twitter. The killings have raised fears in the community as well as an increased security presence at mosques and schools.
A Republican candidate for New Mexico’s House of Representatives revealed that he was on the fence about canceling campaign events planned for Friday (Aug. 5), noting fear of a potential serial killer on the loose that were targeting Muslims in Albuquerque.
“I’m thinking to cancel them,” said Khalid Emshadi, who is Muslim and emigrated with his wife from Libya in 2008. He has been a resident in Albuquerque for over a year.
Aside from campaign events, Emshadi notes that he and fellow Muslims have been afraid to practice their Islamic rituals at mosques.
“I cannot work the streets. I cannot knock on doors because if this person is still on the streets and feeling comfortable killing Muslims, I could be his next target,” he shared. “We think something bad is going to happen if we just start praying, (like) a crazy person comes inside and shoots us.”
Talib Kweli sues Jezebel over “negligent infliction of emotional distress” from 2020 article
Talib Kweli has filed a lawsuit against website Jezebel over their 2020 post, "Talib Kweli's Harassment Campaign Shows How Unprotected Black Women Are Online and Off". The suit, which Kweli filed on his own behalf, names Jezebel's parent company, G/O Media, and Ashley Reese, who wrote the post, as defendants. Talib requests $300,000 in damages over the "negligent infliction of emotional distress" he claims the site caused with the article, which details his suspension from Twitter after "repeated violations" of their rules.
In the suit, Kweli writes that the article sent him "into a depression state of loss of appetite, sleeplessness, edgy, anxiety, and discomfort around certain women due to being targeted by this defendant." He also claims Jezebel "took advantage of Talib and used him as a guinea pig to clarify how [B]lack men treat [B]lack women; meanwhile, the plaintiff never harassed anyone; he was defending himself and his family."
"The plaintiff is an artist that wrote the song 'Brown skin lady' and has thousands of women fans that are light skin, brown skin, dark skin, and of various colors and races," the suit continues. "His ex-wife and children's mother are also brown-skinned. In reply, he is defending his brand, his family, and his fans. The plaintiff's actions are not a 'jump to the conclusion'; this is the plaintiff's lifestyle and the way he makes his money, if anyone states anything to discredit his brand, he has to defend himself."
A statement from a G/O Media spokesperson about the suit reads, "Jezebel’s article fairly reported on the controversy which led to the permanent suspension of Talib Kweli’s Twitter account. This suit, filed two years after the story was published, has no merit and the company will be seeking our attorneys fees pursuant to the protections afforded to the press to publish stories about matters of public interest like this one."
Issa Rae donates money to family of pregnant woman killed in fiery LA car collision
Issa Rae donated money to the family of Asherey Ryan, the pregnant woman who lost her life in a fiery car collision in Los Angeles last weekend. The “Insecure” creator grew up in Inglewood, California, which is located about 10 minutes away from the crash site.
Ryan received an outpour of support after her younger sister, Sha’seana Kerr, took to social media to reveal that the 23-year-old, her boyfriend Reynold Lester, their 11-month-old son Alonzo, and their unborn child were among the six victims who died in the collision. “For some reason, as soon as I seen that video it hit home. It hit different. I felt connected, and I felt off,” Kerr explained in a video. She continued, “You see, he [Lester] was waiting at the red light. When the light turned green he went across as he should. But, at that same time a woman — I don’t even have her name — was driving over 100 miles per hour before she crashed into them, killing my sister and her whole family.” The family set up a GoFundMe page to raise $100,000 to cover funeral expenses. Rae contributed a generous $2,500.
As previously reported by REVOLT, on Thursday (Aug. 4), a Houston travel nurse ran a red light driving at 90 mph. Nicole Lorraine Linton crashed into vehicles in a busy intersection in Windsor Hills, California. Many victims were ejected from their cars, meanwhile other cars were set ablaze. Linton was charged with six counts of murder and five counts of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. If convicted, the 37-year-old faces 90 years to life in prison.
District Attorney George GascΓ³n said during a news conference, “A young family was destroyed in the blink of an eye.” He continued, “While the wreckage of this fiery crash at this intersection was removed and traffic eventually resumed, there is catastrophic damage to the families and friends of those killed and injured.” D.A. GascΓ³na added, “It is not only a tremendous loss to the families but our entire community who learned of this incredible tragedy or have watched the now-viral video of the collision.”
Idris Elba explains how he "hustled" his way onto JAY-Z's 'American Gangster' album
While visiting “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” last night (Aug. 8), Idris Elba revealed the unconventional way he was able to appear on one of JAY-Z’s albums. As the show’s host asked the English actor how he managed to land on projects for both JAY and Paul McCartney, Elba gave a bit of insight.
“You wrote and produced the intro track,” Fallon began while referencing JAY’s 2007 album American Gangster. Next, the host asked, “How do you get in these situations?” while holding an album by McCartney. “Both [of] these albums I’m on and both [of] those artists don’t know I’m on the album. You know what I’m saying? I literally hustled my way onto both of those albums,” he said. Fallon is impressed with the Beast actor’s story and asks him to elaborate.
“I was in American Gangster and at the time, I heard JAY was about to do an album associated with the film and I was like, ‘I need to get on that.’ As you do. You’re like, ‘I’m Idris, I need to be on that JAY-Z album!’ I had no idea why JAY would be like, ‘Yeah, sure, do it.’ So Lenny S., who works with JAY, was a good friend of Oronde and Oronde’s my guy, and I said, ‘Yo, I’m gonna write this thing.’ And I wrote this long poem,” Elba explained. He continued to discuss the process: “We put it to a beat. Actually, it was a rap, but it didn’t sound good as a rap. … I said, ‘Maybe I should speak this,’ because JAY might be a little more accommodating to my speaking voice. And I sent it to him and we got this text back from JAY saying, ‘I don’t love this … I f**king love it.”
In addition to collaborating on American Gangster, Elba stars as Rufus Buck in the 2021 JAY-Z-produced film, The Harder They Fall. The movie, which was released on Netflix, also stars Zazie Beetz (“Atlanta”), Jonathan Majors (“Lovecraft Country”), LaKeith Stanfield (Judas and the Black Messiah) and Regina King (“Watchmen”).

Young Thug Hit With A New Indictment That Brings Additional Charges Against The Rapper
The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has announced that a new indictment and new charges are being put on Young Thug.
According to WSBTV, The district attorney’s office assumes these charges add to the prosecution’s lawsuit that Young Thug conducted for years as a leader of a criminal street gang.
According to the new indictment, one of the charges involves a machine gun. As we previously reported, On Monday night (May 9), journalist Michael Seiden of local Atlanta news station WSBTV reported that he and his artist Gunna and 26 other members of YSL have been accused of RICO charges. According to Seiden, “The indictment includes charges of conspiring to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act, murder, armed robbery, participation in criminal street gang activity.”
The district attorney’s office said the new charges are against Williams and four other defendants and arose from arrests on March 17 and May 9. Many of those new charges against Williams and two of the other defendants stem from what the DA’s office and Atlanta police found in Williams’ home on Allison Drive in Buckhead the night of his arrest in May.
The full details of Thug’s indictment has not been revealed to the public at this time.
Groom Exposes Cheating Bride’s Affair With Brother-In-Law And Plays Their Sex Tape During Wedding
A groom exposed a video of his wife having an affair with her brother-in-law after the couple exchanged vows during their wedding.
The 2019 wedding took place in China and resurfaced on TikTok as commenters were stunned by the groom’s behavior during the wedding. According to the New York Post, the couple had been together for two years and were engaged for six months before the wedding. However, the bride claimed she was allegedly abused by the groom and turned to his pregnant sister’s husband as a shoulder to cry on. Their bond drew them closer, and they started having an affair.
In the video, the couple starts to exchange their vows when a video of the bride appears on the screen where she’s having a sexual encounter with her brother-in-law. The groom yells, “Did you think I didn’t know about this?”
“There is this on the Internet. The man beat the woman, and the brother-in-law coordinated, and had a relationship with his sister-in-law. After the man knew about it, he played this video in front of relatives and friends of both families at the wedding . . . What a mess~!,” a Weibo user wrote when the video was first released.
The bride reportedly said she wanted to sue the groom for posting the video, but the wedding clip went viral on various social media sites under the hashtag #brotherinlawgate. Some people believed the video was staged and recorded for the couple to gain fame online.
On TikTok, various users had their own opinion about the wedding and criticized the couple’s actions, especially when the explicit video popped up on screen during the wedding ceremony. One user wrote, ‘“Why waste thousands if he knew?” Satisfaction people. Embarrassing her in front of everyone was probably worth it for him.’ Another TikToker said, “Maybe he found out too late, and the wedding needed to be paid for regardless whether they broke it off.”
“He said you wasted my time ima embarrassed and waste yours and everybody time π”
She had the nerve to get mad as if she’s the victim.
“Its not about the money. It’s about sending a message.”
Other Tiktokers said they wanted the full version of the video as it cut off while the couple confronted each other about the affair. Since being uploaded on the platform, it has reached over 6 million views with 6,000 comments and 750,000 likes.
“The fact I waited the whole video for 1 second of confrontation. π I want full version
nah cause he could have done this in private imagine potentially going to jail just to embarrass someone?!?! nahhhh could never be me π”
It is unclear if the groom was arrested or faced legal consequences for the exposure. Additionally, there was no further information if the bride continued her affair with her brother-in-law

Tom Cruise Is Reportedly Developing a Project Centered on His ’Tropic Thunder’ Character Les Grossman
Tom Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie are looking to revisit one of the actor’s most beloved—and strangest—characters ever.
According to Deadline, the frequent collaborators have a few new projects on the go, including a standalone movie for Cruise’s Les Grossman character from Tropic Thunder.
Grossman appeared only briefly in the 2008 comedy, but left a lasting impression on audiences—so much so that Cruise and McQuarrie are described as being “fixated” on reviving the character in some way. Grossman’s appearance came at a time when Cruise needed something of a career revamp, after bizarre public behavior threatened his credibility at the box office. Seeing him don a fat suit and hurl f-bombs in the Ben Stiller-directed movie showed audiences that the actor didn’t take himself as seriously as some may have thought.
The two are also said to be working on an “original song and dance-style musical” which would star Cruise, who assumed a similar role in Rock of Ages, the big screen adaptation of the Broadway production.
Another project in the works is an “original action film with franchise potential,” which should come as little surprise for the duo, who have collaborated on a string of Mission: Impossible movies.
Cruise and McQuarrie are operating from an advantageous position following the box office success of Top Gun: Maverick, which became the actor’s first film to surpass $1 billion worldwide, and looks to improve upon its 12th spot on the list of the highest-grossing movies of all-time.

Cruise also starred in the 2012 adaptation Jack Reacher, which was written and directed by McQuarrie, and the two Hollywood mainstays have been collaborating ever since.
Lamont Dozier, Legendary Motown Songwriter Dead At 81
Lamont Dozier, the Motown mastermind behind huge hits for artists such as the Supremes, the Four Tops and the Isley Brothers, among others. Dozier was 81
The legendary songwriter, producer and singer’s son Lamont Dozier Jr released the news via Instagram. However, he didn’t mention the cause of his father’s passing.
Dozier was part of the Motown hit-making machine called Holland–Dozier–Holland who was responsible for 10 of the Supremes’ 12 No 1 singles, including “Baby Love” and “You Keep Me Hanging On.”
The trio was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.
Ronnie Wood, who covered the trio’s 1963 single Leaving Home in 2001, paid tribute to Dozier on Twitter. “God bless Lamont,” he wrote. “His music will live on.” Mick Hucknall, who worked with Dozier in the 1980s, also tweeted his condolences calling him “One of the greatest songwriters of all time.”
Born in Detroit, Michigan on 16 June, 1941, Dozier started his musical career working for a few Detroit labels with little success. His luck changed in 1962 when he and songwriting brothers Brian and Eddie Holland started work at Motown. They hit the ground running, scoring three hits – “Come and Get These Memories,” “Heatwave,” and “Quicksand” – for Martha and The Vandellas.
They were followed in 1964 by Where Did Our Love Go, the first of 10 US chart-toppers the trio would write for The Supremes. Four years later, having helped define the Motown sound, Holland–Dozier–Holland left the label to start the Invictus and Hot Wax labels. Dozier would go on to record as a soloist for both labels.
Holland-Dozier-Holland tracks have been covered by illustrious artists ranging from Linda Ronstadt, the Jackson 5, and Gloria Gaynor to Kylie Minogue, Rod Stewart, and the Fall, and sampled by countless rap and R&B stars—Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Solange among them. The trio was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame two years later.
After producing more than 200 songs for the label, a royalty dispute led the production trio to slow its work rate and, in the late ’60s, to leave Motown and form two labels, Invictus and Hot Wax.
Dozier focused on his output as a lead artist, which included a ’70s R&B staple in “Going Back to My Roots,” popularized by disco group Odyssey and later adopted by innumerable disco revivalist DJs. And he continued to write songs for pop stars such as Alison Moyet (“Invisible”) and Phil Collins (the Grammy and Golden Globe-winning No. 1 single “Two Hearts”).
Dozier is survived by his six children.
Ben Simmons Appears to Address Report He Left Nets Group Chat During Playoffs After Being Asked If He Could Play
Ben Simmons’ latest tweet appears to be in response to a rumor involving him and his Brooklyn Nets teammates.
Ric Bucher recently stopped by FS1’s The Herd with Colin Cowherd and shared an alleged story about Simmons leaving the team’s group chat after being asked if he was going to play in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics. “They asked him, ‘Are you going to play?’ Ben left the chat,” Bucher said. “Like, he didn’t even answer the question, just left the chat. And KD [Nets teammate Kevin Durant] is like, this is what I signed up for…this is who I’m playing with?”
“Slow news day,” Simmons tweeted after Bucher’s appearance, along with a crying laughing emoji.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported ahead of Game 3 that Simmons planned on playing in Game 4 for somewhere between 10 to 15 minutes. The Nets star had already been ruled out for Game 3 due to lingering back issues, but appeared to be making strides towards a return by participating in scrimmages with the team.
At the time, Simmons classified his injury to reporters as “day-to-day,” and acknowledged he was primarily determined to “just keep building up to get back on the floor and play at that high level,” adding, “If I could play right now, I’d be on the court. So it is what it is.” When he didn’t play in Game 4, Simmons was criticized with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith leading the charge, calling the former No. 1 overall pick a “quitter” and alleging league owners will use his situation in their argument for a pay-for-play stipulation for the next collective bargaining agreement.
Less than two weeks after the Nets were eliminated from the playoffs, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Simmons would undergo a procedure to alleviate the pain from a herniated disc in his back.
The Simmons report comes shortly after Kevin Durant reportedly told Nets owner Joseph Tsai that he must decide between keeping him or general manager Sean Marks and head coach Steve Nash.
Pumpkin Spice Oreo Cookies Are Returning for the First Time Since 2017
More so than many brands, Oreo prides itself on its parade of neverending new flavors and varieties. Already in 2022 alone, we've covered limited edition runs of Oreo Pride packs, a new ice cream-inspired Neapolitan flavor, and a truly bizarre Ritz cracker and Oreo cookie mashup.
But though Oreo is consistently looking for new buzzworthy creations, some cookie varieties are successful enough to bring back multiple times – and given the history of the pumpkin spice trend, we probably shouldn't be surprised that Oreo Pumpkin Spice Cookies are one of those flavors. The seasonal treat is slated to return for another autumn run starting on August 15.
The limited edition cookie – which features Oreo's "Golden" cookies as the sandwich base (as opposed to the standard chocolate cookies) and is then filled with "a festive Pumpkin Spice flavored creme" – will be available at stores nationwide while supplies last.
While many brands have followed the Starbucks tradition of bringing back their pumpkin spice products every year, Oreo Pumpkin Spice has only returned intermittently since its original introduction eight years ago. "Oreo first brought limited-edition Oreo Pumpkin Spice Sandwich Cookies to shelves in 2014 and they were last available in 2017," a brand spokesperson told us via email. "Oreo is excited to bring back a fan-favorite, while supplies last, for the 2022 Fall season."
Interestingly, Oreo also seems to be diving into pumpkin spice season a bit earlier than other companies. Only today, Krispy Kreme laid claim to be the first quick-service chain to bring back pumpkin spice products, saying they were launching them "earlier than ever: August 8." Meanwhile, Starbucks – the creator of pumpkin spice madness – told us yesterday that they weren't quite ready to make their big 2022 PSL announcement. For comparison's sake, last year's Pumpkin Spice Latte announcement didn't come until August 23, with the PSL actually getting released on the 24th.
General Mills Is Going To Bring Back Four Classic, O.G. Cereals
General Mills is bringing back four classic cereals from the 1980s.
Some original gangsta cereals from General Mills are coming back to the market, according to an announcement made by the company. For more than a decade, we haven’t seen Frute Brute Monster Cereal, Franken Berry, Count Chocula and Boo Berry, and now they’re making a comeback.
“For the first time in nearly a decade, Frute Brute is back with the limited-edition release of four @ kaws-designed Monsters Cereal boxes!” Said the company in an Instagram post with a photo of the cereals.
“Pick up a box and you could win a set of Monsters toys created by KAWS himself. Boxes are available now at retailers nationwide,” the post continued.
The return of the cereals is likely due to this feeling of nostalgia that comforts current generations.
“We’re seeing that consumers are drawn to tastes that remind them of their childhood and help elicit feelings of nostalgia and comfort,” said Tom Dixon, chief growth officer at Post Consumer Brands, during a conversation with Progressive Grocer in 2021, The Street reports.
Pro-MAGA Clothing Company Fined More Than $200K for Ripping Off “Made in China” Tags, Swapping Them With “Made in the USA” Labels
A pro MAGA clothing line is in hot water with the FTC after falsely claiming their clothes were manufactured in the United States.
Lions Not Sheep Products, LLC, and its owner Sean Whalen has been hit with a hefty fine from the Federal Trade Commission, which has urged the clothing company to “come clean” about their imported garments. Lions Not Sheep Products, LLC is accused of claiming their goods were made in the U.S. and even went as far as printing fake “Made in USA labels.”
According to the FTC’s original complaint, the company cut out tags that showed the garments originated in foreign countries and printed “Made in USA” on the neckline. This practice is believed to have occurred between May and October 2021.
“Whalen and Lions Not Sheep must stop claiming that products are made in the United States unless they can show that the product’s final assembly or processing,” the FTC stated.
Per its website, all products are imported “from multiple domestic and international vendors and suppliers” through a U.S.-based wholesaler who then ships them to America to be printed, tagged, and bagged.
Proof of Whalen’s deceit was shared on social media. In an October 2020 post, Whalen said in a video that he could hide the fact that the shirts were made in China by simply removing the original tags and replacing them with American labels.
Now, the lies have caught up to him and his pro-Trump brand, costing them $211,335 in fines.
Lions Not Sheep nor Whalen have responded publicly to the FTC’s claims.
Marlon Wayans HBO Comedy ‘Book Of Marlon’ Headed To STARZ
Marlon Wayans upcoming comedy, Book of Marlon, has found a new home at STARZ. According to Deadline, the show was greenlit in 2020 and slated for a HBO Max premiere, but Warner Bros. Discovery stalled the comedy after their merger.
Book of Marlon will star Wayans in a fictionalized version of his life. The STARZ project will explore his professional and personal life in his pursuit of balance as a comedian and father. Wayans’ new show will serve as a followup to his NBC comedy, Marlon, which aired for two seasons.
STARZ will develop the new show with the comedian set to star, co-write, and executive produce. Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin will be showrunners and executive produce via their deal with Warner Bros. Television. Wayans, Riddle, Salahuddin, and Rick Alvarez will co-write the pilot episode for the upcoming show.
In a statement, Kathryn Busby, STARZ President of original programming, spoke about Book of Marlon moving to their network.
“We are beyond thrilled to develop this sophisticated and hilarious series with Marlon, Diallo, Bashir, and Rick, who each bring their level of artistry and authenticity to everything they touch,” Kathryn Busby said. “I’ve long admired Diallo’s and Bashir’s work, and I’m excited to be working on a project as special as this with the incomparable Marlon Wayans at the center.”
Wayans echoed Burns’ enthusiasm for the show finding a new home at STARZ and described what fans could expect from the new show.
“We’re excited to be in business with such enthusiastic partners. Starz is a big brand, and we are happy to bring some smiles to the table,” Wayans said. “Book of Marlon will be smart, fun, and twisted with a dash of heart and a whole lot of unapologetic humor.”
Elsewhere, Marlon Wayans can be seen this fall in Netflix’s The Curse of Bridge Hollow which the comedian also produced. In addition, The Curse of Bridge Hollow stars Priah Ferguson, Kelly Rowland, Lauren Lapkus, Rob Riggle, John Michael Higgins and Nia Vardalos...
