Demi Moore Covers WSJ. Magazine’s October Issue!
Demi Moore Covers WSJ. Magazine. In the interview, Moore discusses her harrowing past, her relationship with her ex-husbands – including that, as of the time of the interview, she hadn’t discussed or shown the book to Kutcher or Willis. She also reveals her new habit (caffeine vape pen), and new exercise routine and her look toward the future. Her oldest daughter Rumor Willis also reveals her reaction to reading “Inside Out.”
Demi on bottoming out (divorce, alcohol and drug relapse, and subsequent estrangement from her daughters) being the impetus to finally writing her memoir:
She had already signed a contract with Harper, but the publisher “gave me the room to step back and go through whatever I had to go through.” That included more rehab and repairing her relationships with her daughters, as well as a physical and emotional recovery from autoimmune issues she refers to only glancingly in the book. “I didn’t really let a lot of people know, but I was very sick,” she says. “My body was shutting down. My organs were shutting down.”
Demi on the bombshell revelation that her mother received $500 from the man who raped her when she was 15 years old (the man who raped her turned to her and sneered “How does it feel to be whored by your mother for five hundred dollars?” The answer, Moore writes: “It feels like you are an orphan.”):
She says she never even really talked about the incident with anyone until she was with Kutcher, which was when she began to understand that what had happened to her had indeed been a rape: “I had always just thought of myself as being stupid for putting myself in that position, that it was genuinely my fault.” Going over it again with Levy, she says, “I remember being struck that Ariel started to cry, which almost took me aback because I didn’t hold it that way. It was a moment of realizing, Oh, wow, I guess that thing wasn’t good, as opposed to, It’s just what it was.”
A decade and a half later, she would star in Indecent Proposal, in which Robert Redford, playing a billionaire, offers $1 million for a night with her character. Did acting out that scenario trigger memories of her rape? “I think literally I shut that out,” Moore says. “You know the compartmentalizing that we’re capable of. You disassociate to a degree. You can almost toss it away.”
Demi on her body during filming of G.I Jane:
Moore also muscled herself into who she wanted to be—literally, for G.I. Jane, when she bulked up to 138 pounds. “I don’t think it was Bruce’s favorite look…. My neck was huge. My back was huge.”
Demi on her ex-husband’s feedback from the book:
Moore hasn’t yet shown the book to Willis and Kutcher. “I’d definitely like to engage with them before it comes out,” she says, seeming to choose her words carefully. “I have a sensitivity to anything that might make them uncomfortable. I had no interest in anybody being a bad guy.” She and Willis, with whom she maintained a famously amicable post-divorce friendship and who is now married to Emma Heming Willis, remain close: “I was just at the renewal of their vows.” As for Kutcher, who four years ago married his That ’70s Show co-star Mila Kunis: “We have some things that overlap,” Moore says, including an organization she and Kutcher co-founded to fight sex trafficking. “It’s friendly. But we’re not…hanging out.”
Demi on deciding to have a co-author – Ariel Levy:
She is disarmingly open about Levy’s contributions:
“I wanted it to be a good book, but I didn’t feel like my skill set lent itself to be able to do that”
Rumor Willis on her and her sister’s reaction to the book:
“I don’t know if I would use the word surprising. It’s more like…. When a whole picture of someone’s life is painted—it made so much sense, to see her whole childhood detailed. It was like having a bunch of puzzle pieces put together.” Willis, who is 31, adds, “Whenever your parents say some- thing like, ‘I was your age once and blah blah blah,’ when you’re younger you go, ‘Yeah, but you don’t really understand.’ It’s hard to imagine your parents as kids.” She says she doesn’t have that problem anymore.
“I feel like I’ve had the privilege to see all sides of my mom,” Willis says. “But I feel like one of the most beautiful parts of her writing this book is everyone who has been a fan of hers or who has loved her for so long will get to see all of those pieces, to see this vulnerable and very beautiful and sometimes intense side that they may not have seen before.”
Demi on her new habit – Vaping:
Moore begins our interview nursing a venti something or other from Starbucks; she soon has a Red Bull by her side, and at one point she fiddles with a caffeine inhaler. The vape-like device was an impulse buy during a recent trip to the local pharmacy: “They had B12, melatonin and caffeine. So I’m like, I’m going to give it a try!” When the observation is made that she does seem to have an addictive personality, she laughs and admits to “a certain kind of extremist thing,” adding, “and I’m a Scorpio, too.”
Demi on her current exercise routine:
“That would be, like, nothing, right now.”
Demi on what’s in her future:
And her own dating life? “Right now I’m focusing on my relationship with myself.”
She has an indie movie out this fall, Corporate Animals, a black comedy in which she plays a demanding, clueless boss who ends up trapped in a cave with her underlings during a team-building exercise. “I got paid probably the least I’ve ever been paid,” she says, “but I loved the script. And I got to be in a comedy, which I don’t think people generally think of me for.”

Moore, 48, shared a sweet moment of her and Williams’ baby girls basking in the beautiful sunset on Instagram, captioning it, “#bestfriends.”
In the shot, Moore’s daughter Brooklyn Daly can be seen smiling widely in her stroller while Williams’ baby girl Pilar Jhena, also seated in a stroller, flashed an adorable pout.

The luxurious vacations comes nearly a week after it was revealed that Moore is splitting with her husband Marc Daly, a little over two years after saying their “I dos.”
Moore and Daly, 49, have been married since June 2017, when they tied the knot in a romantic sunset ceremony on a St. Lucia beach.
Their separation comes less than a year after Moore gave birth to Brooklyn on Nov. 4, 2018.
#Empire: Final Season: “White Tracy” Named New Co-Owner
Andre Lyon conquered the Big C, but can he outsmart the Big T?
Empire‘s advanced cancer-survivin’ mogul — now firmly entrenched at the helm of the family biz in the wake of daddy Lucious’ vanishing act — is thrown a bit of a curveball during a company meeting in next week’s Season 6 opener. In the midst of looping the staff in on a number of recent successes, Andre is taking aback when Tracy waltzes in with an announcement of her own.
“I’m Empire‘s newest co-owner,” the mother of Andre’s late half-brother Jeff Kingsley, giddily declares.
In last May’s Season 5 finale, the crack addict previously known as “White Tracy” warned the Lyon fam that her decision to donate her son’s heart to then-ailing Andre, and thus save his life, came with strings attached. Showrunner Brett Mahoney later confirmed to TVLine that the character’s threat would prove to be a major “factor” this fall, adding, “When she [said], ‘It’s not going to be easy’ and ‘It’s not going to be cheap’ she meant it.”
Empire, are on Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
#NewMusic from PJ Morton, Le’Andria Johnson & Mary Mary Let Us Know It’s ‘All In His Plan’!
PJ Morton has become known as one of the best and brightest stars in pop and R&B thanks to his own solo work (including his most recent effort PAUL) and being a member of pop/rock outfit Maroon 5. But PJ first cut his teeth in the church (he is a preacher's kid, after all). To that effect, PJ will be reaching back to his roots with new album The Gospel According To PJ Morton, which is set to arrive next year. We don't have to wait until 2020 to hear what he has in store, though, as he's already released the project's first single "All In His Plan.""All In His Plan" finds PJ bringing together the powerhouse vocal talents of gospel stars Le'Andria Johnson and Mary Mary for a track that is meant to instill hope in the midst of a storm.
Originally written by PJ with Le'Andria in mind, "All In His Plan" fittingly begins with the Sunday Best winner as she gets personal with God. "Can I be honest? / Sometimes I don’t understand / Why do you let me fall when the world is in your hands?" she earnestly sings. "You could stop it all if you wanted to / But you don’t, you just let me go through / But I know you’d never let it kill me – only make me strong." The ladies of Mary Mary also come through with a word as they preach on trusting God's will and knowing that the solutions to life's problems have already been worked out.
LISTEN HERE
While the ladies handle vocal duties, PJ provides them with a traditional gospel sound that includes plenty of organ and piano to make this feel like church on Sunday morning. Many more collaborators will be joining PJ Morton on the upcoming gospel album, though he's remained tight-lipped about their names thus far. However, you can stream "All In His Hands" below and also check out the song's lyric video, which gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the song's creation. If you're in need of a word today, this may be the one to minister to your spirit.
#HipHopNews: Lizzo's "Truth Hurts" Breaks Lauryn Hill & Cardi B's Billboard Hot 100 Record!
As Lizzo’s star continues to rise, the Detroit-born artist has now broken a big Billboard record. According to a tweet from the outlet, “Truth Hurts” has become the longest-reigning No. 1 single performed by a female rapper without any features in the chart’s history.
“Truth Hurts” surpasses Cardi B’s three-week reign with “Bodak Yellow (Money Moves)” in October 2017 and Lauryn Hill’s two-week triumph in 1998 with “Doo Wop [That Thing].”
Lizzo celebrated the milestone via Instagam on Monday (September 23).
“Truth Hurts is officially the longest solo female rap #1 in history,” she wrote. “I fell in love with music when I was 9 years old… I had no idea our love affair would go this far. Good to know it was all worth it. Don’t run away from what your heart wants. Follow that bitch to ur destiny.”
“Truth Hurts” has been in the chart’s coveted spot for the past four weeks. Originally released in 2017, the song was also included on the deluxe version of Cuz I Love You, Lizzo’s third studio album. It’s currently certified 2x-platinum by the RIAA.
Lizzo has released two official remixes of “Truth Hurts” in late August — one features production from CID and the other features DaBaby.
The video for the original version has already amassed over 110 million YouTube views.
‘Jurassic World 3’ will reunited the ‘Jurassic Park’ Trio Laura Dern, Sam Neill & Jeff Goldblum!
EXCLUSIVE: For Jurassic World 3, Universal Pictures will bring back original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum to star alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, sources said. Colin Trevorrow is back to direct and production starts early next year.
Dern moments ago revealed her participation in the film, as well as Neill’s and Goldblum’s returns, at a fan screening tonight of Battle at Big Rock, an eight-minute short film that Trevorrow directed and showed tonight, featuring dinosaurs running amuck after they’ve escaped to the real world. The last Jurassic World, directed by J.A. Bayona, ended with the revived beasts finding their way off the island and into civilization, so it might well be where the next installment of the film goes.
Steven Spielberg and Trevorrow return to be executive producers, while Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley are producing.
Emily Carmichael (Pacific Rim Uprising, The Black Hole), has written the Jurassic World 3 screenplay with Trevorrow. They worked off a story by Derek Connolly and Trevorrow, who together co-wrote Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Dern, Neill and Goldblum all originated their roles in the 1993 blockbuster that started a series that has grossed a cumulative total in excess of $5 billion globally, and broadened into video games, toys, novels, animated LEGO series and theme park attractions.
Dern reprised her role as Dr. Ellie Sattler and Neill reprised his Dr. Alan Grant role in 2001’s Jurassic Park III. Goldblum reprised his role as Ian Malcolm in 1997’s The Lost World: Jurassic Park, and again in 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Universal’s SVP Production Sara Scott is overseeing production on behalf of the studio.
Dern is represented by CAA and Untitled Entertainment; Neill is repped by Curtis Brown, ICM Partners and Shanahan Management; Goldblum is with ICM Partners, Elevate and Industry.
Beyonce Says Daughter Bluy Ivy Carter is a 'Cultural Icon' in Legal Battle Over Trademark!
Beyonce isn’t holding back in her legal battle. The 38-year-old entertainer is firing back at wedding planner Wendy Morales over her trademark battle for “Blue Ivy,” in new court documents obtained by The Blast.
Beyonce and Wendy have been battling for years as Beyonce tries to trademark her 7-year-old daughter’s name, but Wendy is trying to block the case because she has a wedding planning business called “Blue Ivy.”
In the newly filed documents, Beyonce called daughter Blue Ivy a “cultural icon” as she argued her case for being granted the trademark.
Beyonce also said “that consumers are likely to be confused between a boutique wedding event planning business and Blue Ivy Carter, the daughter of two of the most famous performers in the world, is frivolous and should be refused in its entirety.” She also pointed out her trademark application is for “Blue Ivy Carter” NOT “Blue Ivy.”
She added, “the presence of the word ‘CARTER’ ties the commercial impression of BGK’s Mark to the celebrity Blue Ivy Carter rather than Opposer’s regional event planning business” before adding that Wendy runs a “small business, with just three regional offices and a handful of employees,” with weak online presence and poorly subscribed social media accounts.
Beyonce and Wendy are scheduled to head to trial in this case.
Mattel introduces gender-neutral doll line!
Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Mattel is launching a new, gender-neutral line of dolls.
The company introduced Creatable World, a customizable, gender-inclusive doll line, in a tweet Tuesday, more than 60 years after it debuted its first Barbie doll.
"In our world, dolls are as limitless as the kids who play with them. Introducing #CreatableWorld, a doll line designed to keep labels out and invite everyone in. #AllWelcome," the post reads.
Mattel said in a press release Wednesday that Creatable World dolls have wardrobe options, accessories and wigs to allow kids to style their doll with short or long hair, or in a skirt, pants or both.
"Toys are a reflection of culture and as the world continues to celebrate the positive impact of inclusivity, we felt it was time to create a doll line free of labels," Mattel fashion doll design senior vice president Kim Culmone said in a statement.
"Through research, we heard that kids don't want their toys dictated by gender norms. This line allows all kids to express themselves freely which is why it resonates so strongly with them. We're hopeful Creatable World will encourage people to think more broadly about how all kids can benefit from doll play," she added.
Mattel created six different Creatable World doll kits that come in a variety of skin tones. Each kit includes one doll, two hairstyle options and 100+ styling possibilities, and costs $29.99.
Mattel launched its best-known doll, Barbie, in March 1959. The toy will receive the Brand Icon Awards at the 2019 Clio Awards on Wednesday.
Nicole Murphy Regrets Kissing Lela Rochon’s Husband, Warns Women To “Do Your Research” About Men’s Relationship Status!
Nicole Murphy has dished on her controversial lip-lock with famed director Antoine Fuqua, who’s married to actress Lela Rochon.
Murphy stopped by The Wendy Williams Show Tuesday (Sept. 24) and explained the photo of her and Fuqua that circulated around the internet over the summer.
“It was a ‘muah’… It was a frozen in time pic. Trust me Wendy, I wish it didn’t happen. It was a moment where I should have thought more through the situation, made better judgment. It’s something that I apologized for… I’m a human being. It was a mistake. Basically women do your research. It happened.”
As for a previous statement where an insider said Murphy was kissing Fuqua as a close friend, Murphy clarified,
“I did not release that statement.”
She added that she only knows Rochon in passing.
“Social media had it to where we were family friends, I was at her wedding, in her wedding, kicking it at her house, it’s not true. None of that is true. I don’t know her like that. It’s not like that.”
She said she knows Fuqua
“through seeing him at events.”
But in true Williams form, she showed yet another photo of the two kissing again.
Murphy laughed and said,
“It was a moment!”
She then leaned in to pretend to kiss Williams.
When asked if Fuqua told Murphy he was getting a divorce, Murphy said
“At the moment, maybe I had a different impression of the situation.”
Still, she refused to say what that impression actually was, and went into how social media spun the story and the moment into something it wasn’t.
“It said I broke up somebody’s marriage, which was absolutely false.”
She also addressed LisaRaye’s claims that Murphy slept with her now ex-husband too.
“First of all, her husband released a statement saying it’s not true. Nobody focused on that issue.”
Murphy said she apologized to her own family as well as Rochon’s family.
She also had a message for Lela.
“Oh, Lela, darling. It was a mistake. I apologize.”
She added, “I stayed in my house for like weeks. I was so devasted. Photographers would try to capture me and take old pictures and say I was somewhere and it wasn’t.”
Rochon and Fuqua haven’t spoken out publicly about it. But Rochon has still been wearing her ring.
What are your thoughts on Nicole’s statements?
Debra Messing, Billy Porter & Larry David Bringing The Mueller Report Live To L.A.!
Today’s declaration by Nancy Pelosi of an official impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump’s conduct in office makes the March 22 submitted Mueller Report seem like a tome from another era.
However, that era isn’t quite so far way that the officially entitled Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election can’t still be brought to the Saban Theater on October 21 for a fundraiser for the Democrats. Which, for around $25 a tix as a starting price, is exactly what will be happening with Will & Grace’s Debra Messing as her online nemesis Trump, Larry David as the narrator and recent Emmy winner and Pose star Billy Porter among the cast of You Can’t Make This Sh*t Up, Deadline has confirmed
Similar to June’s star-studded NYC reading of playwright Robert Schenkkan’s The Investigation: A Search for the Truth in Ten Acts, the Janis Hirsch penned and Suzi Dietz produced offering will see some of Hollywood’s finest read from Mueller’s comprehensive almost 450-page report next month.
Initially kept from public view, the Mueller Report was soon afterward sympathetically summarized by Attorney General Bill Bar as not finding any compelling evidence of collusion between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Vladimir Putin’s crew.
Under pressure, the administration eventually released a redacted version of the seemingly wide-ranging report. Originally preparing to exit stage right, Mueller showed up before the House Intelligence Committee under subpoena on July 24 for what all agree was circumspect and unsatisfying testimony from the former Special Counsel.
Now, with ex-Senator Barbara Boxer’s PAC for a Change and other Democrats taking a slice of the gate, the Mueller Report may seem more timely than expected, even in this crazed media environment. The You Can’t Make This Sh*t Up performance will see Tim Bagley, John Fugelsang, Scandal‘s long running POTUS Tony Goldwyn, Ernie Hudson, Maz Jobrani, and EJ Johnson reading from the document. They’ll be joined onstage in Beverly Hills by West Wing and Scandal vet Josh Malina, Messing, Stephanie Miller, Poppy Montgomery, Laraine Newman, Jonah Platt, Porter, Paul Reiser and Katey Sagal
The Hollywood Reporter first broke news of the Mueller Report reading.
Serena Williams Addresses When She'll Retire During Advertising Week New York!
Serena Williams is opening up about her historic career. The 37-year-old tennis player was in attendance at Advertising Week New York to speak with Verizon CEO Guru Gowrappan and CNBC correspondent Julia Boorstin in a panel on Tuesday (September 24) in New York City.
Topics included her retirement from tennis, her role as Chairwoman of Verizon’s Board of Advisors, her clothing company and venture firm, and even strollers.
When discussing retirement, she said she would “transfer out, you know, in 20 years, not anytime soon,” which was met with laughter and a round of applause.
She also talked about investing, explaining that she was “really interested in technology and even more so, founders…we really focus on female founders” including “Daily Harvest… Lola is another one that we love. Colugo.”
She also said her S by Serena Williams clothing brand is about “changing the way you feel when you put on our outfit, you want to feel sexy, you want to feel confident, and you want to feel sure.”
Piers Morgan Rips Sam Smith After Brit Awards Axing Gender Categories!
Rumor has it the Brit Awards are considering restructuring their categories by 2021 to no longer reward artists by their gender, but instead their talent. This move comes after Sam Smith, who recently came out as nonbinary this year, announced that they would like to be preferred to with pronouns they/them instead of he/him. Both of the news items prompted Piers Morgan to go off on Smith during a recent broadcast of Good Morning Britain.
“I think it’s great that such time-honored awards should be just wrecked like this because one guy can’t decide if he’s male or female,” Morgan said during the broadcast, while misgendering Smith. "They want to accommodate non-binary performers like Sam Smith, which is what I said last week, which category will he now enter? He won’t have to, he’ll now enter the non-binary categories."
"I'll tell you what will happen,” Morgan continued on. "Women will suffer eventually. I suspect what will happen is male performers will end up winning all of the awards...The whole point of having the gender categories is to make it fair and equal; now we're going the other way and that apparently is progress. I think it's a load of nonsense. The idea that you have change entire award categories because one [person] decides one day to wake up and say I'm nonbinary, it's nonsense."
Smith made their big announcement regarding their pronouns in mid-September. "After a lifetime of being at war with my gender I've decided to embrace myself for who I am, inside and out," they wrote in a lengthy note. "I’m so excited and privileged to be surrounded by people that support me in this decision, but I’ve been very nervous about announcing this because I care too much about what people think but f**k it!"
Smith went on admit that they understands there will likely be "many mistakes and mis gendering," but they simply wants people to try their best. "I hope you can see me like I see myself now. Thank you," they continued. "I am at no stage just yet to eloquently speak at length about what it means to be non binary but I can't wait for the day that I am. So for now I just want to be VISIBLE and open. If you have questions and are wondering what this all means I’ll try my best to explain but I have also tagged below the human beings who are fighting the good fight everyday. These are activists and leaders of the non binary/trans community that have helped me and given me so much clarity and understanding."
Rihanna mourns loss of her late uncle Rudy!
Rihanna took to Instagram Tuesday to mourn her uncle Rudy. The 31-year-old vocalist wrote, 'RIP uncle Rudy!' in a caption to a shot in which he was posed with her father, Ronald Fenty.
The Umbrella singer was inundated with thousands of responses from her 75-plus million followers, as fans offered their condolences over the death in the family.
The You Da One singer has had a complicated relationship with her dad in the past, suing him earlier this year over business maneuverings he had made, claiming he was misrepresenting himself as her agent while using the family name.
In court docs published on The Blast in January, the singer said her dad and an associate named Moses Perkins used the name Fenty Entertainment and tried to get paid pretending they could book her.
'Although Mr. Fenty is Rihanna’s father, he does not have, and never has had, authority to act on Rihanna's behalf,' the Grammy winner's legal team said in court docs.
The Barbados-born beauty said her dad was involved in deals - that she was not involved in and had no idea about - that would have seen her play shows in Latin America on a $15 million tour, and dates in Los Angeles and Las Vegas for $400,000, according to the outlet.
The suit came after numerous warnings to stop looking to trade on her name, she told the court.
Rihanna has past been open about her differences with her father, revealing in 2009 that she saw him abuse her mother Monica Braithwaite - and once broke Braithwaite's nose. Rihanna said that her mother would not seek medical help in the incident and explained why.
'Domestic violence is not somebody that people want anybody to know, so she would just hide it in the house,' she told ABC in a 2009 interview, according to NBC Connecticut. 'I always said to myself, "I'm never going to date somebody like my dad, never."'

11-Year-Old Boy Drives 200 Miles To Meet A Man He Met On Snapchat!
An 11-year-old South Carolina boy drove 200 miles from Charleston to Simpsonville to meet a man he met on Snapchat. According to Charleston Police, the little boy was spotted by Office Christopher Braun around 12:30 a.m. when he pulled up next to the police cruiser.
He told Officer Braun he had taken his brother’s car and drove three hours from Simpsonville to Charleston to live with a man he met on Snapchat.
The child told the officer his father’s Insignia tablet dropped the GPS signal and he was lost.
When he lost the GPS signal he also lost the address and couldn’t recover it because Snapchat deletes messages after they are read.
Officer Braun contacted the boy’s father, who was in the process of filing a missing person’s report with the Simpsonville Police Department.
The father and his other son drove to Charleston on Monday to pick up the 11-year-old boy and the vehicle.
The tablet was placed in evidence.
At this time, the police don’t have a suspect. But, the investigation is ongoing.
Y’all please keep a close eye on your children and social media accounts.
Dallas police officer who killed Botham Jean was distracted by steamy text messages to her lover!
Former Dallas police officer Amber Guyger's murder trial is underway in a Dallas, Texas courtroom.
Guyger, 31, is accused of fatally shooting Botham Jean after she entered his apartment under the mistaken belief that she was in her own apartment.
The former officer wore a modest blue dress on the first day of her murder trial on Monday.
After working a 13-hour shift, Guyger parked her car on the wrong floor and entered Jean's apartment through an unlocked door on Sept. 6, 2018.
According to her defense team, Jean, who was seated on his sofa eating a bowl of ice cream, was shot and killed when he refused her orders.
But prosecutors say Guyger was distracted by steamy text messages she exchanged with her lover, a fellow Dallas police officer.
The prosecutor argued that Guyger walked past 16 other apartments on the 4th floor and failed to notice she was not on the 3rd floor where her apartment was located directly under Jean's.
Dallas County Assistant District Attorney Jason Hermus said Guyger was also on the phone with her lover, Officer Martin Rivera, when she pulled into her apartment complex.
Hermus said Guyger sent a Snapchat message to Rivera at about 9:30 p.m. which read, "wanna touch," according to the Dallas Morning News. Earlier in the day, she texted Rivera that she was "super horny today," according to the prosecutor.
On the witness stand, Rivera testified he had a 16-minute phone conversation with Guyger as she drove home. He denied making plans with her for later that night.
Rivera, who was in a relationship with another woman, said he and Guyger were no longer lovers at the time.
Defense lawyer Robert Rogers said Guyger didn't notice the wrong number on the apartment door when she walked in and encountered Jean on his sofa in the darkened apartment.
"What was going through Amber's mind was just, 'I'm going home,'" Rogers said, according to the Morning News. "'I'm done with my day of work, I'm exhausted and I'm going home.'"
Rogers said Guyger, who is white, shot Jean, who is Black, in self-defense because she mistakenly believed she was in her own apartment.
"'Why is he yelling at me? Why is he coming at me? Why is the display of my gun not working? He must have a weapon,'" Rogers said Guyger was thinking. "He must want to kill me because I caught him burglarizing my apartment, and he's getting closer.'"
But Hermus said Guyger was preoccupied with text messages from her former lover when she entered the wrong apartment.
Hermus said Jean, 26, didn't stand a chance.
"No opportunity for de-escalation, no opportunity for him to surrender. Bang, bang. Rapid," Hermus told the jury, according to ABC News.
The jury, which is sequestered, will consider whether Guyger is guilty of murder, manslaughter or acquitted of the charges.
