Wonder Woman Graces the Cover of Entertainment Weekly
Director Patty Jenkins and Hollywood star Gal Gadot are undoubtedly hoping for a big turn out at the box office early next month when the forthcoming DC Extended Universe film Wonder Woman finally sees theatrical release – and the latest bit of marketing comes in the form of the superheroine herself gracing the cover of EW. Featuring a more modest budget than past entries in the DCEU, many fans of the original comic book character will likely turn out in droves to see the long-awaited adaptation of the iconic superhero property.
Sporting a script penned by comic book royalty Allan Heinberg and Geoff Johns, the latest entry in the ever expanding DCEU from Warner Bros. Pictures already has a sequel in the planning stages and is expected to open to upwards of $100 million in ticket sales at the box office. Even as some moviegoers might still wish that the abandoned scripted penned by Joss Whedon were still a reality, things are definitely looking up for Jenkins and Gadot – and the latest crossover promotion is further proof of that.
Featured front and center on the cover of the latest issue of EW, fans will soon be able to pick up a copy of the special issue dedicated to exploring the long road towards getting a Wonder Woman made in the first place. After decades of several subsequent productions being left to languish in a state of creative abandonment – not the least of which being Whedon’s aforementioned take on the iconic character – fans of the Amazonian warrior will finally get to see Diana Prince in action, leading her own vehicle on the silver screen. Despite many calling the visibility of the marketing campaign that stands behind the theatrical release of Wonder Woman into question, Jenkins and Gadot won’t need to win too many of the comic book character’s most dedicated fans over sight unseen ahead of the film’s summer movie season release next month. If everything goes according to plan, then the latest DCEU feature could very well turn out to be one of the most successful superhero films in the current Warner Bros. stable.
Jenkins obviously holds Wonder Woman in high regard, and the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly sees fit to explore the director’s passion for the project. On that note, here’s to hoping for the very best from Jenkins as her latest directorial effort finally makes its historic way to the big screen.

#EMPIRE: Terrence Howard Reveals His Biggest Regret
Oh and he's willing to shell out $1 million for a very specific reason.
We all have regrets. And for Terrence Howard that includes not jumping on stage at the 2006 Academy Awards to perform the Oscar-winning Hustle & Flow track, "It's Hard out Here for a Pimp," which he performs in the film.
"I wish I had. And my manager at the time said, 'No, you're gonna sit here in your tux and you're gonna receive this award. You're not gonna get up there and rap,'" he recalled on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. "And I was siting there trying to play 'good boy' at the time, which sometimes we do in this business — we try to play 'good boy.' But it was one of the few things that I regret not doing in my career was not performing at the Oscars 'Hard out Here for a Pimp.'"
Instead, the track was performed by Taraji P. Henson (who co-starred in the movie with Terrence and currently stars on Empire with him/sings the hook on the track) as well as Juicy J and Three 6 Mafia, who co-wrote the track with Cedric Coleman. "Taraji was up there and I'm watching Juicy J and them do my song," he said. "And whether they wrote half of it, 'cause my stuff I didn't write down that I wrote. I should have. If I had written down what I wrote, I would have that Oscar too. But I should have gone up there. You always finish what you start. I should have finished it."

#MUSICNEWS: August Alsina Announces “Don’t Matter Tour”
August Alsina kicked off 2017 with the release of 3 new songs, “Drugs,” “Wait” and “Lonely,” followed by the announcement that he was readying the release of his third studio album, which is also titled Drugs.
He has yet to confirm a release date, but fans can get excited to see the New Orleans native back on stage, as he has announced an upcoming tour called the “Don’t Matter Tour.”
The summer theater trek will kick off July 27 in San Antonio, Texas and hit 24 North American cities, including New Orleans, Atlanta, Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles and more before closing Sept. 2 in Vancouver, BC.
On the tour Alsina will be supported by singer/actor Rotomi and one of our favorite new rising singer/songwriters Tone Stith. Tickets will be on sale soon.

#NEWHIPHOP from New Music: Missy Elliott feat. Eve, Lil’ Kim, & Trina – ‘I’m Better (Remix)’
Twenty-one years after “Not Tonight (Ladies Night Remix),” Missy Elliott brings another team of women together for her “I’m Better (Remix).”
Revamping her Lamb-assisted single, Misdemeanor taps Eve, Lil’ Kim, and Trina for the empowering remix. The Queen Bee — who was also on “Not Tonight’s” classic remix — kicks off the track with a confident, raunch-filled verse.
“You cannot be me, no, never,” she raps. “Ain’t gotta explain why I’m better / Your man is a dog, he taste my kitty, and he say my pussy is wetter.”
Carrying the baton, Da Baddest Bitch keeps things naughty. “Better than them and I get wetter than them,” she brags. “Fuck where you’ve been / Get too much cheddar for him / I set the bar and them bitches only setting trends.”
Closing out the three-verse cut is the “Pit Bull in a Skirt,” who explains why she keeps such a low profile. “I’ve been away,” she acknowledges. “I’m so anti / Winning in life by a landslide / I know you see me, you see me / Your chick wanna be me, but she could never be me.”
Missy — who plays a limited role on the track’s chorus — celebrated her remix with a tweet. “Brought a few legends out for this one,” she wrote.

The Winner of ‘The Voice’ is???? Chris Blue!
After 12 seasons, fans of NBC’s “The Voice” know to watch the premiere carefully. Producers stack the first episode of “blind auditions” with exceptionally talented singers — with especially intriguing backstories — to hook viewers as soon as the show begins. It’s a clear signal that contestants in the premiere have a good chance to go far in the competition.
On Tuesday night, Chris Blue (a 26-year-old worship leader from Knoxville, Tenn.) walked away in first place, landing a record deal and $100,000 prize. His win wasn’t surprising. With a stunning voice and lots of charisma, he was pegged as a frontrunner leading into the finale. However, Blue was not in the season’s first audition episode — and unlike any other winner in the show’s history, he was actually featured in the last one.
“The very last artist selected in the blind audition process goes on to win it all!” host Carson Daly marveled in the closing moments of the finale, clearly excited about this fun fact, as confetti rained down and Blue sobbed on stage.
It’s true: Earlier this year, Blue was the last contestant to perform on the seventh and final blind audition episode in mid-March. (Blind auditions generally run five to seven episodes.) Blue was so far down the list that by the time he belted the classic “Tracks of My Tears” in front of the celebrity coaches, their teams were practically already filled — except for Alicia Keys, who was thrilled to add Blue (with his “bluesy and soulful” voice) as the final member of her contestant roster.
It’s a contrast to the last four consecutive seasons of “The Voice,” where every winner (Sawyer Fredericks, Jordan Smith, Alisan Porter and Sundance Head) was showcased in the premiere; same with previous winners Javier Colon and Danielle Bradbery. This season’s runner-up, country singer Lauren Duski, also appeared in the first episode.
Over the rest of the show’s run, two winners (Jermaine Paul and Tessanne Chin) appeared in their season’s second blind audition episode. Three winners (Craig Wayne Boyd, Josh Kaufman and Cassadee Pope) have been showcased in the penultimate blind auditions.
So why is Blue’s last audition status significant? Sure, not a big deal in the grand scheme of things — but it shows viewers that even though competition reality show structures can get predictable over time, you never know when a contestant without as much fanfare might wind up winning it all.
OOOPS! Did Migos Reportedly Refused to Appear with Drag Queens for Katy Perry’s ‘SNL’ Performance?
Katy Perry’s performances of “Swish Swish” and “Bon Appétit” from last weekend’s season finale of Saturday Night Live are back in the headlines, but this time it has nothing to do with Katy’s awkwardness — it’s all about Migos’ alleged homophobia.
According to a new report from World Of Wonder (which was later deleted, but not before Uproxx circulated the information), there were supposed to be a lot more drag queens around the table set up for “Bon Appétit,” but they were pulled because Migos refused to perform with them.
According to two anonymous queens (and one SNL staffer) from the show:
Queen #1: “I was one of the performers on that table with them the whole time, during the rehearsal for 3 days. On the day of the filming, when I got there, I was told to leave. I wasn’t on the set at the time, but we were asking what happened. They said it was because Migos doesn’t feel comfortable with having drag queens there.”
Queen #2: “I heard it from the stylist. They changed the queens out in the Bon Appétit number, and they didn’t seem too thrilled during rehearsal either, with us there.”
Queen #3:“I work at SNL and the rumors are true! Migos held up rehearsal because they ‘weren’t comfortable with the drag queens’ being there. There were initially more drag queens on the set for that song, but after Migos threw a fit, Katy Perry’s team removed some of the queens from the performance. Additionally, Katy Perry didn’t invite any of the queens to the afterparty… So, none of them were allowed in.”
It’s not Migos’ first brush with alleged homophobia. Earlier this year, they caught a lot of heat over comments made about iLoveMakonnen’s coming out. They responded by pointing out the fact they have a song with Frank Ocean — so they can’t be homophobic.
Capitol Music has called the queens’ account of what happened “completely false and fabricated.”
#FLINTWATER: Black Woman-Owned Construction Company To Replace 18,000+ Contaminated Water Pipes In Flint
W.T. Stevens Construction, a Black woman-owned construction company in Flint, Michigan, was recently awarded a multimillion-dollar service contract to replace more than 18,000 corroded lead water pipes across the city.
Blackbusiness.org reported that W.T. Stevens was one of four companies contracted under a court order to complete the project.
The construction firm was founded in the 1990s by the late W.T. Stevens. Following his death in 2002, his daughter Rhonda Grayer, took over as the company’s vice president while her husband, retired professional basketball player Jeff Grayer, serves as the project manager.
“This is home for me and my family and I wasn’t going to sit back and do nothing as a person or as a businessman,” said Mr. Grayer. He added, “The is the biggest project our company has ever done and as a result of the water line contract our gross revenues have increased by about 70 percent.”
Mr. Grayer told TNJ.com that the “target is to replace all 18,000 lead corroded residential pipes by December 2019.” He projects that WTS will have replaced 6,000 contaminated water lines in Flint by year’s end. So far, he says roughly 800 have been replaced.

It appears that Nicki Minaj and Nas may be dating.
As you’ll recall, the two Queens rappers almost broke the internet when a photo of the pair cozied up was posted by them on social media. When asked about the status of their relationship, Nicki says,
"Well we were – shout out to Queens New York – I have to say that we’re both from Queens. And he is the King of Queens and I’d like to think I’m the Queen of Queens. And I’m just so, you know – he’s a rap legend so let’s just say that I have a lot of respect for him. And you know he’s kinda cute too."
When asked if they’ve had sleepovers yet, she laughs saying, "We have. Yep."
And when asked if the sleep-overs are at her house or his, she blushes:
"I got to him. ‘Cuz well, I don’t know. I just thought me going to him was too forward."
Nicki adds,"Let me clarify. We didn’t do the … [nasty]. Because I, ya know – I’m just chilling right now. I’m celibate. I wanted to go a year without you know dating any men. I hate men. But he ummm, I might be, I might make an exception to the rule for him ‘cuz he’s so dope."

DWTS Winner Rashad Jennings Was In Disbelief Over Winning The Mirrored-Ball Trophy
Rashad Jennings is living up his big Dancing With The Stars win!
Along with pro partner Emma Slater, runners up David Ross and Lindsay Arnold, and third place finishers Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy, they all appeared on Good Morning America this morning and even Rashad was still in disbelief.
“I don’t know if you caught my face or not, but I literally could not believe it at all,” Rashad admitted (via USA Today).
