Viola Davis Talks to In Style Magazine!
Viola Davis is having a spectacular 2015 — her show How to Get Away With Murder is a smash hit for which she won an Emmy, she’s such an awesome lady that her daughter wanted to be her for Halloween, and now she’s capping it all off with the cover of InStyle magazine. And she’s definitely going out of this year on a high note.
Though she’s become one to watch on the red carpet, Davis says in the December issue of InStyle that high fashion didn’t always come easily to her. “Back in the day, my style was whatever was different and cheap,” she says. “I was an artist, and I wanted my clothes to reflect that. I now understand fashion in a way that I don’t even have a language for. I know designers. Before, you could’ve put a gun to my head and asked me to name just one designer and I would’ve been dead.”
But that doesn’t mean she’s taking Hollywood’s obsession with looks too seriously. “What’s released me most from the fear of aging is self-awareness,” she says. “I’ve never determined my value based on my looks or anything physical. I’ve been through a lot in life, and what has gotten me through is strength of character and faith.”
She derives much of her joy from daughter Genesis Tennon, whom she adopted in 2011. “I always tell Genesis she was born from my heart, not my belly,” she says, saying her advice for potential adoptive parents is, “There are so many ways to mother rather than to carry a child in your body. So many children need parents, and so many of us want to mother. Know that you will experience motherhood to the full extent.”

Obama speaks In Rare Oval Office Address "Freedom is more powerful than fear."
In a rare Sunday evening Oval Office address, President Barack Obama spoke directly to the American public about Wednesday’s mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, reaffirming his commitment to fighting the so-called Islamic State, or ISIS, though he did not announce any new policies to do so.
"I am confident that we will succeed in this mission, because we are on the right side of history," he said. "Freedom is more powerful than fear."
Obama reiterated that the U.S. would continue its current strategy, consisting of hunting down terrorists, training Iraqi and Syrian forces on the ground, disrupting potential ISIS plots, in cooperation with authorities in Europe and the Middle East, and pursuing a political resolution to the ongoing Syrian civil war.
He asked Congress to vote to authorize military force, which it has not done, despite more than a year of U.S. military action against ISIS. He also requested measures such as reforming the visa waiver program and closing a loophole that allows anyone on a no-fly list can buy a gun.
As he has done many times after mass shootings, Obama also implored Congress to renew consideration of gun control measures in response to Wednesday's shooting, which killed 14 people and wounded 21. It was the deadliest shooting since the elementary school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, in 2012, the last time Congress attempted to take legislative action on guns.
Billed by White House officials as a way to assuage Americans’ fears, the speech -- only the third Obama has delivered directly from the Oval Office during his presidency -- addressed growing concerns about fighting terrorism and threats from the so-called Islamic State, or ISIS.
The FBI is investigating the San Bernardino shooting as a possible case of terrorism. Federal authorities say that the two alleged attackers, Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, might have been inspired by ISIS, and Malik had posted comments on social media pledging allegiance to the group.
"So far we have no evidence that they were directed by terrorist organizations overseas or directed by a conspiracy here at home," Obama said.
Obama also denounced Islamophobia and asked Americans not to equate ISIS with all Muslim people.
"We cannot turn against one another," he said. "That's what groups like ISIL want."
Obama himself made the determination to make the speech at the end of this past week, a senior administration official said. And he did so because he and his advisers "recognized that there are very real and legitimate fears in the United States and around the word about this terrorist threat." As for the setting -- the Oval Office -- the senior official said the president felt it was "familiar and appropriate" for Americans, and underscored the "seriousness with which we are taking the issue."
Acknowledging a war-weary public, Obama has been reluctant to propose a more aggressive military strategy in the Middle East but has gradually increased the U.S. military presence in the region. Last week, Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced that the U.S. will send a special force of several hundred troops to Iraq, joining about 3,300 troops already stationed there to assist Iraqi forces, as well as a handful of troops in Syria.
Obama’s speech pointed to a re-evaluation of his foreign policy amid mounting pressure from critics who say that he needs to do more to defeat ISIS, such as establishing a no-fly zone and authorizing a more substantial amount of troops to directly fight Islamic militant groups in the Middle East, rather than keeping the current strategy of airstrikes. Lawmakers, particularly Republicans, stepped up their concerns following last month’s terrorist attacks in Paris and have urged Obama to recognize ISIS as a growing threat.
The senior official pushed back on the argument that the president had misjudged the severity of threat in the days prior to the San Bernardino attack -- given that the administration said before Thanksgiving that there was "no specific or credible threat" to the United States. The official noted that there was no indication that the attackers in San Bernardino had been instructed by a larger terrorist ring.
Following the speech, the president will attend the annual Kennedy Center Honors at the Kennedy Center, about a mile away from the White House. There are no plans at this point for Obama to travel to San Bernardino to meet with the victims' families, the senior official said. But that could change depending on how the city chooses to memorialize those who lost their lives in the attack.

Amiyah Scott is moving from R.H.o.A to the Empire! Reportedly being Cast In Empire Spinoff Prequel; 4
Transgender model Amiyah Scott was reportedly being added to the cast of the "Empire" spinoff, which will focus on a young Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson). Fox
Transgender model Amiyah Scott, 27, may have just landed a coveted acting gig. According to reports, she's set to star in the still-unconfirmed "Empire" spinoff.
TMZ reports that "Empire" creator Lee Daniels reached out to Scott over the summer and asked her to read for the new show. Supposedly, Daniels was so impressed with her that he offered the model a role as a member of a girl group. Sources told the outlet the "Empire" spinoff will be a prequel to the Fox show and will focus on a young Cookie Lyon (played in the original by Taraji P. Henson).
Scott has not commented on the casting rumors, but check out four things to know about the model:
1. She Was Almost Cast On 'Real Housewives Of Atlanta"
Scott made headlines over the summer when reports surfaced that she was going to be the first transgender person cast on Bravo's "Real Housewives of Atlanta." According to the reports, she was going to replace NeNe Leakes.
At the time, E! News reported that Scott had filmed scenes for the show with her friend and current "RHOA" star Kenya Moore. But Leakes quickly shut down rumors that Scott was being added to the show, telling "Access Hollywood" it was "all lies."
2. She Started Her Transition As A Teenager
Scott started transitioning from male to female when she was 17 years old. The model has always been very open with her fans about her journey and revealed to Ballroom Throwbacks last year that the most difficult part of her transformation was wondering how people would react to her.
“At that time, I didn’t know myself completely, so I was so worried about would people like me or would people love me or just where I would fit in," she said.
3. She's Never Acted Before
Even though Scott has reportedly been cast in the "Empire" spinoff, TMZ reports that the role would be her first acting gig. On her social media pages, Scott says she's a makeup artist, model and beauty consultant. According to Reality Tea, she has many celebrity clients and is close pals with Amber Rose, Keyshia Cole and Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson.
4. She's Supposedly Dated Several Famous Rappers And Athletes
A quick Google search of Scott's name brings up a few rumors linking her to several famous celebrities. In an interview with "As told by Ms. Monroe," Scott wouldn't divulge too much information about her dating life but said she usually dates "rappers, singers, athletes" who are not ready to publicly reveal their sexuality.

OOOPS! Chris Brown READS A Fan FOR BLOOD Who Criticized Him After Giving a Family a new Car
This holiday season, Chris Brown has been blessing families in need left and right. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, he gave away thousands of turkeys to families who needed them. And now, he’s blessing a single mother and her three kids.
Saturday Breezy hit the Boys & Girls Club in Hollywood for a special surprise. The “Loyal” singer gifted a single mother a brand new car and he also purchased Christmas gifts for her three young kiddies.
The proud dad took to his Instagram page to share with his fans who he helped this family in need. He wrote,
“I've been very fortunate and blessed with so much in my life and I always thought that it was supposed to be that way. I was selfish, arrogant, and cold hearted. I'm able to bless and inspire so many others and I realize that now. This woman has delt with domestic abuse through her life and her 3 wonderful children had to experience that. I see myself when I looked into their eyes. The amount of strength this woman has is remarkable. I hope I could make their Christmas a great one. I hope the kids love all the toys and things I got for them. And for moms. I hope I could put a smile on this family's face.”
As with anything posted online these days, someone had to come for the R&B crooner for his good deed.
A follower decided to leave her two cents of Breezy’s good gesture. In so many words, the woman said this is the type of stuff the R&B singer should be doing anyway and that he doesn’t deserve a pat on the back. She then shaded him by saying when he starts doing stuff like Akon (who’s trying to get electricity to 600 million people in Africa) then brag about it.
Well, Breezy (or someone in his camp) must have been snooping around in the comment section on The Shade Room’s IG page and caught wind of the comment. Breezy personally reposed to the chick, but in a nice-nasty way. He clapped back saying:
“It’s people like you that obviously are envious and miserable. I don’t need a pat on the back. Just like I don’t need your approval to buy a single mother and her three children gifts. What has your favorite celebrity done to help the problem you create? Find God, then happiness will follow. Go vote. Do something with you life and get a taste of reality you follower. Help your community. If Kanye, Pharrell, Beyonce or Jay z did this you’d be kissing ass.”

Nicki Minaj Posts Bail For Brother Accused Of Raping Teen
Nicki Minaj is sticking by her family. The Queens rapper put up a pair of homes she owns in Long Island as collateral to bail out her brother, Jelani Maraj, 37, who has been charged with raping a 12-year-old girl.

Court papers reveal the superstar singer put up the $100,000 bond that sprang Jelani Maraj, 37, from custody in Nassau County on Friday after he was accused of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against the preteen.
The bond is backed by a two homes in Baldwin that are owned by Minaj — one of which is used by her brother and the other by her mother, Carol.
“She was prepared to do anything for her brother,” a source said of Minaj.
Minaj will be responsible for the fees associated with securing the the bond, typically 6 percent to 10 percent of the bond amount, or $6,000 to $10,000.
Back in August, Minaj paid for her older brother’s dream wedding.
Mums has been the word from Minaj on social media about this personal matter. Don’t bank on her commenting, too.

Congrats to Kim and Kanye, the couple welcomed a baby boy early Saturday morning. North West has a baby brother, although they haven’t released a name, the couple has promised to steer clear of naming their son South West. Kim Kardashian West made the announcement on her website this morning.

Hip Hop HOLLA! Swizz Beatz & DMX REUNITE On Stage
As Swizz Beatz continues to take over Miami Art Basel, last night’s concert was nothing short of epic.
The superproducer wrapped up his three-day No Commission Art Fair and his Untameable House Party concert series (sponsored by Bacardi) with a Ruff Ryderz reunion, joining forces with DMX on stage. Swizz and X took it back like it was 1998, performing their classic Ruff Ryderz hits.
