The Real TEAS Behind Meek Mill & Wale's Beef!
All of this MESS with Meek Mill putting Wale on blast, the pouring of TEA has come. Gather ladies and gentlemen I'm pouring TEA Wants some? Here's the back story on Meek Mill & Wale's ongoing feud as told to the folks over at BA by a few very reliable sources. The story involves mistreatment of women, a few punches being thrown and ends with the tweets we see. Read on...
As you know, both artists are signed to Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group but for a few years now there has been some jealousy fueled tension between the rappers. Let's discuss how Meek and Wale were formally introduced. Wale & Kevin Durant (both DC natives) held an annual birthday weekend celebration a few years ago. During the birthday weekend Wale and 50 others attempted to get into a nightclub but was denied entry because the club was packed and it was extremely packed. This is obviously before Wale achieved any level of superstardom. Irritated Wale yelled at his female assistant that he wanted to go home and to get his keys out of her purse. The assistant asked Wale not to yell at her, as she shuffled through her purse to find Wale's car keys. Annoyed, Wale continued to yell at her and eventually pushed her into the brick wall of the club and hit her in the face, pushing her head into the wall. Bystanders saw what Wale did and intervened, immediately attempting to jump Wale. Meek, who hardly knew Wale at the time, jumped in to the fight for Wale and that's how the two became friends.
Fast forward, Some of you have seen the infamous 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards red carpet interview Bossip did with Meek Mill where Wale continuously annoyed him by interrupting his interview. If you haven't, I'll post it below. Little did you know, that's just the tip of the iceberg. Let's start with The MMG Tour (2012) featuring Rick Ross, Meek Mill, Wale & Machine Gun Kelly. Throughout the tour Wale was the opening act for Meek Mill but when the tour took a stop in Wale's home of Washington, DC, he wanted to change all of that. Wale complained several times that he did not want to open. Some describe it as "whining" but I'll just use the word "complain" for all intents and purposes. Meek, who was frustrated with all of the whining and attempts to pit each other against one another, open hand slapped Wale, telling him to calm down and yelling out "when u act like a b**** i gotta treat u like a b****." He also reminded Wale that when he was getting beat up in DC, he, a total stranger, was the one who jumped in for him. Later the two allegedly spoke and Meek acknowledged that he had no issue letting Wale open, he just didn't need the jealousy and dramatics.
Speaking of jealousy, there has always been hidden envy behind Rick Ross' treatment of Meek vs that of Wale. As you know, Meek Mill has his own Dreamchasers label aside from being part of the MMG imprint. This is the label the late Lil Snupe was signed to, as well as others like Lee Mazin, Louis V Gutta and more. This is not a luxury Wale was afforded. He accused Ross of favoritism for allowing Meek to have a label and not him. He attempted to have artists under him (Tiara Thomas) but after he mistreated her, made her catch busses to see him, bashed her on Twitter and threatened her, she jumped ship and signed with producer/songwriter Rico Love. We wrote about all that HERE. After failed attempts of having his own label situation, and several of his colleagues and business partners quitting on the same day, Wale was obviously frustrated.
Over the years there have been several isolated incidents that would likely lead one to believe something was going on. The most recent being Meek Mill's Ciroc hosted dinner during 2014 BET Awards weekend in LA in which invited guests would get to eat, drink and mingle with Meek, as well as listen to his forthcoming album. Notably missing from the table was Wale.
This morning Wale took to Twitter saying he had ENOUGH of it and he was calling Wale out.
So while it seems random, this has been brewing for roughly two years. Wale finally responded to Meek's tweets. Check out what he said below.
