Bravo! Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker & Michael B. Jordan cover Essence Magazine’s Hollywood Issue
Glitz, Glamour, Chiwetel and Oprah, need we say more.
Essence Magazine debuts its 2014 Hollywood Issue featuring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Oprah Winfrey, Forest Whitaker and Michael B. Jordan.
The biggest African American publication celebrates an epic year at the movies with its Black Hollywood portfolio in the March 2014 issue.
All the actors discuss their crafts and how they got into character for their roles in 2013. Chiwetel – Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave, Oprah – Gloria Gaines in Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Forest – Cecil Gaines in Lee Daniels’ The Butler and Michael – Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station.
Lupita Nyong’o isn’t on the cover but the magazine couldn’t help but talk about the buzzed about actress with its “The Many Faces of Lupita” article.
Essence says;
While preparing for her role as Gloria Gaines in the critically acclaimed film Lee Daniels’ The Butler, Oprah Winfrey’s acting coach told her she should be more sexy. “I don’t think of myself as being sexy and I’m not even sure how one is sexy,” she admits. Her acting coach instructed her: “Every time Gloria walks, pretend that she has a tail. And when Gloria sits down, she doesn’t sit without making sure there’s room for her tail.”
Chiwetel Ejiofor made a huge splash in this year’s 12 Years a Slave, but the role was a difficult one for the actor. He described it as walking the “fine line in between sanity and insanity.” After filming wrapped, it took the actor two months to “come out of it.” He describes why he pushed himself to the limit for the film: “Even though there were emotional moments to shoot, overall I think every member of the cast and crew was there for one reason: They felt it was a tale that deserved to be told.”

Queen Elizabeth II Orders Royal Makeunder For Kate Middleton
She’s quite the Royal head-turner, and Kate Middleton has definitely won the hearts of the people of the United Kingdom- except for one.
It turns out Queen Elizabeth II is less-than-pleased with some of the Duchess of Cambridge’s ensembles as she believes Kate has been showing too much leg.
Per a Mail on Sunday report, the Queen recently “issued some dictums as to how Kate should be dressed when she tours Australia in April.”
Essentially, Middleton’s skirts will be longer and she’ll wear tiaras and statement jewelry when she greets the residents of the former English penal colony.
A Palace source added that Elizabeth has asked her own personal stylist Angela Kelly to plan Kate’s wardrobe. “Angela has been asked to start selecting jewels ahead of the trip. This trip will be about Kate appearing more Royal than ever – you can expect to see a lot more tiaras and the Queen will be watching closely.”
And designer David Emanuel noted, “Kate is going to need someone to help her get ready. Even a modern-day Royal needs help with dressing. Kate is going to be scrutinized from head to toe. We take for granted how good she looks but it’s a lot of work.”
“You need to think about the national colors of the country, its flag and emblems and how to reflect that in the clothes you wear. It takes weeks of research and Kate is going to need quality couture for the trip. She will be travelling in a warm climate and she will need quality-cut clothes. She really needs a full-time member of staff to help with her wardrobe.”
“It’s not just the frock, it’s the whole thing – shoes, clutch, accessories. A superstar would take an entire personal entourage to look after them. There’s no room for a fashion faux pas.”

7-Year-Old Recreates Classic Hip-Hop Artwork [PHOTOS]
Allow us to introduce you to a kid who proves there's no age limit to who can be considered an artist. His name is Lenox, but you can call him Yung Lenox, the prepubescent Hip-Hop maestro.
We first learned of his talents via a feature by the good folks at Complex. At just seven years old, the child has created a buzz around his colorful caricatures of some of the game's biggest rappers. And he's not just drawing new rappers he's heard on the radio. Lenox digs into the proverbial crates to recreate classic imagery that dates back to long before he was born.Needless to say that the culture lives in the young Padawon.
In recent months, Lenox's talent has been spotlighted on a list of publications like The Source and Frank 151. He's also done collaborations with t-shirt brand Coke Magic and received kudos from the likes of Raekwon and Action Bronson. So, if you've been keeping up, at the tender age of seven, he's already created a business for himself.
The best way to keep up with Yung Lenox's work (or find out how you can own one of his limited-edition screenprints) is to follow is Instagram page.

Karrueche Tran Supports Chris Brown At Court Hearing; Chris Avoids Jail Time, Remains In Rehab
Chris Brown and his girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, held hands during a visit to a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday.
Chris appeared for a hearing in his D.C. assault case from late last year. According to TMZ, prosecutors requested that the judge send Chris to jail immediately, and set a probation violation hearing. They claim that “Brown’s violent behavior continues to increase in severity and frequency” and he poses “an increasing danger to society.”
Additionally, the D.A. claims that following review of the D.C. case — interviewing witnesses and examining evidence — there is probably cause to believe Chris is guilty as charged.
However, L.A. Superior Court Judge James Brandlin, ruled that Chris was better off completing his 90-day rehab for anger management; shutting down prosecutors requests.

Rumor Control: Tyler Perry Shuts Down Phony Audition & Scholarship Scams
Tyler Perry has been a household name for several years now, with success as a director, playwright, screenwriter and actor. To date, he’s made tons of money in Hollywood, listed as the highest paid man in entertainment by Forbes (in 2011). He has been a staple in the black community yet, has been able to cross the color lines to become one of Hollywood’s “It” directors. Because of this success, there also have been a few bumps in the road. This week, the 44-year-old took to social media to warn fans and budding actors about a new scan that his brand has been associated with. There is currently a scam going around stating that Mr. Perry is auditioning for talent for a new show on Oprah’s OWN network.
There is also information floating around that he has a scholarship program. The scam is asking for participants to pay to audition and to pay to be a part of the “scholarship program”. He wrote:
There are some scams going around the Internet asking people to pay money to have an audition for me. That is not true. You never have to pay for an audition. Also, I do not have a scholarship program. Do not let anyone tell you that I have a scholarship program that you have to pay to be a part of, ok?
Museum Of The City of New York Holds "City As Canvas" Graffiti Exhibit
New York has been known as the home for some of the best graffiti artists in the world, giving widespread legitimacy to the street art. At the Museum of the City of New York, aerosol artists of the 1970s and '80s will have their work featured in a six-month exhibit beginning today (February 4).
The exhibit, “City as Canvas,” features around 150 pieces from famous graffiti writers from New York. According to a report from the New York Daily News, art from LEE, DAZE, Lady Pink and Tracy 168 will be shown. In fact, Tracy 168 is one of the city's kings of the art form, credited for creating the “Wildstyle” form of graffiti.
“'City as Canvas' provides a window into the origins of the graffiti movement, which began as an illicit activity and evolved into an art form that spawned a worldwide phenomenon,” said Sean Corcoran, the collection's curator.
The exhibit runs from now until August 24, and are a part of late art collector Martin Wong's 300-piece collection of street art.
