Today we're remembering the King Of Pop, the incredible dancer who invented the moonwalk and singer who blew us away from a young age with family band the Jackson 5...the one and only Michael Jackson.
Hard to believe it's already been 6 years since his sudden passing, and although it will be a difficult day for some, here at Take40 we're going to celebrate an amazing individual who created some of greatest music of all time.
Michael was once asked how he'd like to remembered, he replied "As a person who came and brought light to the world, some escapism."
So let's forget about the times when MJ was in the news for all the wrong reasons...today we're going to turn up the stereo, attempt the moonwalk and celebrate the late, great Michael Jackson!

'Empire' Star Jussie Smollett Reveals Details About the New Season of ‘EMPIRE’!
Is there any doubt the return of Empire is this fall’s most-anticipated TV event? After its January premiere, Fox’s soap about a family-owned rap/R&B record label became a ratings juggernaut (16.5 million viewers watched the season finale) with a real-world music-biz impact: its soundtrack topped the Billboard 200. The soulful heart of the series is Jussie Smollett as scion Jamal Lyon. After his character took over Empire Records in the March season finale, the actor-singer, 32, dishes on the drama to Billboard Magazine that might go down when the second season begins Sept. 23.
Here’s a few excerpts!
After Empire became such a sensation, how was it coming back to shoot the second season?
It felt like when the King of Pop did Off the Wall and then he had to come back with something hard, so he came back with Thriller. We're just praying that the second season is our Thriller, and so far, so good. Honestly, I would be lying if I said that there wasn't any pressure.
At the end of last season, Jamal was dangling Judd Nelson’s Billy Baretti over a balcony. What can we expect from him next?
Watch out for Jamal: He's like the gay 2Pac -- he ain't playing! People aren't always going to agree with the choices that Jamal makes. He's changing, and sometimes those changes are not going to be so great. But he's very real to me because there's so much of him that I see in myself. I'm going through so many journeys along with Jamal -- as far as newfound fame, and making sure that you are staying true to who you were before you had all of this. But I also have a much healthier family life than Jamal does, so it's a little bit easier for me.
Did you have any favorite guest stars from the first season and are there any that you can reveal from the upcoming one?
Getting to sing with Patti LaBelle was one of the highlights of my life, and I don't see anything topping that. But this new season, so far my favorites are Marisa Tomei and Tyra Ferrell. And musically, so far I've duetted with Pitbull.
Who else is on your wish list of guest stars?
It hasn't happened yet, but Mariah [Carey] is coming, so that wish is already coming true. And I would love if Brandy, Janet Jackson and Usher came on.
Any changes with the music this season?
The music is a little bit more aggressive, if you will. We have such dope people working with us right now: Ne-Yo, Swizz Beatz, Jim Beanz, Timbaland, J.R. Rotem. I have been writing more, and I did get some of my songs in there so far. [Empire creators/executive producers] Lee Daniels and Danny Strong have really welcomed my input with the music, which is great.
Now that you guys are killing it, what's the vibe like on set?
We really are a family. That's no bullshit. I love them. I hang with Terrence [Howard] and Yazz [who plays Hakeem] and Trai [Byers, who plays Andre]. We all kick it together. We threw Taraji [P. Henson] a birthday party at this hole-in-the-wall spot, and it was the best time ever. We were so damn ratchet!

Alicia Keys shared an adorable pic of her sons, four-year-old Egypt and eight-month old Genesis, on Instagram. The black-and-white snap shows the two boys lying down on their stomachs, while Egypt has his hand on his baby brother’s back.

Alicia and her husband Swizz Beatz welcomed baby Genesis in December 2014, and shared a family portrait, introducing him earlier this year.

SAD NEWS: Christina Milian's Sister Danielle Loses Her Baby Just Hours After Birth
Christina Milian's younger sister Danielle lost her newborn son on Wednesday just hours after welcoming him into the world.
On Tuesday, the 29-year-old, who is already a mother to 12-month-old Naomi and 8-year-old Daniel, Instagrammed about the newest edition to her family, writing, "Baby Richie has arrived! #prayersup for my #babyboy. He is already a fighter!"
The following day, Danielle returned to Instagram with the somber message that Richie was no longer with us.
"Yesterday I was blessed with the birth of my Richie Bear," Danielle wrote as the caption for a black and white photo of herself bearing what appears to be the baby's handprint. "Unfortunately, last night he took his place with the Lord and we said goodbye. I so appreciate the prayers and support from everyone. He touched my heart and was perfect in so many ways."
Danielle's sister, Christina, also wrote a loving tribute to her nephew on Instagram late Wednesday.
"The last 24 hours have been an emotional roller coaster but i'd like to thank everyone for being so supportive throughout my sister Danielle & Richards pregnancy," she wrote. "The both of them have shown the true measure of courage and faith for the last 9 months and I can’t praise them more."
"Our family was blessed to have met our little Angel Baby Richie. We were fighting for him and with him the whole way and are now coping with the direction in which fate took," the 33-year-old Christina Milian Turned Up star continued.

Derrick Rose Refutes Rape Claims Via Lawyer, "This Is A Shakedown!"
Chicago native Derrick Rose is in some majorly hot water that won't be so easy to climb out of it seems. The Bulls' star point guard, along with two of his friends, have been accused in a lawsuit of allegedly drugging and gang-raping an unnamed woman.
Now that the internet has been completely taken aback by the details, Derrick is defending himself via a rep for his legal team.
In a statement released in the wee hours of the morning, a few hours after the lawsuit hit the net, Lisa Cohen said the allegations are completely false. It's also revealed this isn't the first time the plaintiff has made the accusations, and Derrick's team feels this is a shakedown for money.
Here's the statement in full:
"The plaintiff's allegations are completely false and without any factual basis. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to shake down a highly respected and successful athlete.
Mr. Rose was in a non-exclusive, consensual sexual relationship with the plaintiff for over two years. The plaintiff expressed no complaints about Mr. Rose until various lawyers began to surface and demand that the plaintiff be paid millions of dollars.
This is the third lawyer the plaintiff has retained in this matter. Two years have passed since Mr. Rose ended the consensual relationship with the plaintiff and her claims are as meritless now as they were two years ago.
We have complete confidence that the case will be dismissed and that Mr. Rose will be vindicated. This lawsuit is outrageous.”
MANY people commenting on the story have questioned why the plaintiff waited to years to file this lawsuit, and it seems as though it's possible she started the process with two previous lawyers before this most recent lawsuit. It's also important to note that statistically, it's not completely out of the ordinary for an alleged rape victim to wait a significant amount of time before coming forward due to psychological and emotional issues at hand.
And then there's this: According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network (RAINN), only 2 percent of rapes in the U.S. end in a felony conviction. This may also give some insight into why many rapes go unreported or are delayed in being reported.
With all that said, it will be almost impossible, without hard proof or an admission, to determine with 100% confidence which party is telling the truth. We'll keep you updated on any developments.
NBA Legend Darryl Dawkins Dead At 58
NBA legend Darryl Dawkins has died at the age of 58.
According to reports, a family member called 911 after Dawkins suffered an unknown medical emergency. The former 76ers player was apparently rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest in Allentown, PA where he later died. A cause of death has not been confirmed.
Dawkins, who was given the nickname “Chocolate Thunder” by Stevie Wonder, is most known for his time with the Philadelphia 76ers and New Jersey Nets. Following his 15 year NBA career, the athlete played overseas before settling down in Lehigh Valley where he served as the head coach of the Lehigh Carbon Community College’s men’s basketball team.
“LCCC community is saddened by the passing of Philadelphia 76er legend and former LCCC basketball coach Darryl Dawkins,” the college wrote on Facebook on Thursday. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dawkins family.”

Now this is what we call a glowing pregnant star. Kandi Burruss shared an adorable photo on Instagram of she and her husband, Todd Tucker, admiring her growing baby bump. In the image, Tucker can be seen rubbing Burruss’ belly while the reality star looks down with joy.
The couple confirmed that they were having their first child together back in July. And although the lovebirds have not revealed the sex of the baby, we can report exclusively that Burruss and Tucker want a boy. “We would love to have a baby this year. Hopefully it will happen in the next few months … clocking those periods … we are really working towards it,” The Real Housewives of Atlanta star told us back in January.

Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz held a special screening of "Belief" last night at the Fox Theatre in Redwood City, California with more than 1,000 attendees, including Nas. The screening of the premiere episode was followed by a conversation with Oprah and Andreessen Horowitz co-founder and partner Ben Horowitz.

Here’s news to the few of you who still watch Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta and K. Michelle’s reality TV show.
Variety magazine confirms VH1 ordered eight half-hour episodes of a LHHATL spin-off featuring part-time music producer Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez.
The spin-off, created by Mona Scott-Young’s Monami Entertainment, will follow Stevie and Joseline doing whatever it is that they do.
If you recall, Joseline testified under oath that Love & Hip Hop was fake and scripted. That might explain why Mona is hanging them out to dry, so to speak.
“In a summer where the film ‘Straight Outta Compton’ went straight to #1, Taylor Swift’s collaboration with Kendrick Lamar topped the Billboard charts and our own “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta” ranked as the #1 reality show on cable, hip hop’s dominance of pop culture was confirmed yet again,” said Susan Levison, VH1’s EVP of original programming and production. “We’re excited to fuel our audience’s continued fascination with all things hip hop by extending the storylines of some of their favorite ‘Love & Hip Hop’ cast members.”

OH NO! Derrick Rose Being Accused Of Drugging and Gang-Raping Ex-Girlfriend!
An ex-girlfriend has brought up some pretty damaging allegations against Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose. She's accusing the star of drugging and gang raping her.
The woman, whose name has not been released, says she dated Rose from 2011 to 2013. She claims that while they dated Rose did things like pressure her to masturbate in front of him, have orgies and let him have sex with her friends. She says that she turned all of his requests down. They continued to date until August, when things got ugly.
According to the Jane Doe, Derrick Rose invited her to his Beverly Hills home where he was along with his friend Ryan Allen and his friend/manager Randall Hampton. When she got there she says someone slipped something in her drink with the intent to rape her. Fortunately she and a friend were able to make it out of the home.
Jane Doe says that later that night, however, Rose and his friends broke into her apartment and gang raped her while she was incapacitated. She says that she only remembers flashes of the incident but does remember being raped by Rose and company.
Per the victim, shame and embarrassment caused her to wait 2 years before filing her complaint. She says that she feared what would happen if her "conservative" family found out. She is now suing for unspecified damages.
Derrick Rose had been dating his girlfriend Mieka Reese for a number of years before she gave birth to the couple's son in 2012. During the duration of their relationship the two got engaged and later split in 2013. If he was with anyone else during that time period, they definitely weren't "dating." It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
Lady Gaga Covers Entertainment Weekly In “American Horror Story” Garb!
It’s going to be another amazing season of “American Horror Story,” and thanks to Lady Gaga, the “Hotel” chapter might just be the best yet.
The “Edge of Glory” songstress is featured on the front of Entertainment Weekly magazine, all done up in her character’s wardrobe. Mother Monster gushed, “I’ve just been weeping while I’m here because I have returned to something I’ve believed in so much, which is the art of darkness. It’s not something that everyone understands, but, for the people that do — Horror Story fans, my fans — there is a true connection between us, and it’s a language within itself.”
And it sounds like Gaga was determined to score the gig, as creator Ryan Murphy recalled, “I was at a construction site and my phone rang. I didn’t recognize the number. [I answer and] I hear ‘Please hold for Gaga.’ I think ‘Bad Romance’ was playing [while I was on hold]. Then she got on the phone. At first I thought it was a prank, but we then had a lovely call.” Lady Gaga added, “I called him and I said, ‘Ryan, I wanna be on Horror Story.’ And he goes, ‘Okay.’ And that was it.”
The Vanishing of LUCIOUS and the Rise of COOKIE? Terrence Howard's "Empire" Role Reportedly REDUCED Over Personal Drama
WOW, After brutal photos of Terrence Howard's battered ex-wife Michelle Ghent went viral, along with lurid details of their drug-infused sexcapades - we knew it was a matter of time before his work suffered. Now there are reports that Lee Daniels and the execs at FOX have decided to reduce Terrence's on-screen "Empire" scenes.
A source told Page Six that Terrence will be seen a lot less due to his recent divorce drama and numerous prior allegations of domestic abuse.
“What they are doing is two-fold,” said the source. “They have him locked up so you won’t be seeing him in as many scenes. But they are bringing in so many, and I mean so many, guest stars and cameos that the average viewer won’t realize it because there is so much going on.”
You'll recall that previous posts have revealed that Mariah Carey, Pitbull, Chris Rock, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, Lenny Kravitz and Marisa Tomei have been confirmed to appear as guest stars on the upcoming season.
But wait....there's more. Terrence's loss could be a real win for Taraji P Henson. With Lucious off in cell block 4, Taraji's role as Cookie Lyon will be pushed to the forefront, the insider adds. “She’s going to start dropping off from the flashback scenes and then they’re going to have her guns blazing.”
While Fox had no official comment on the matter,And we would love more Cookie don’t mess og chemistry due to personal reasons. But what are your thoughts?

Mario Announces New Album ‘Never 2 Late’ + Drops New Single ‘Forever’
As he gears up for the release of a new album, Mario unleashes a new single, “Forever,” featuring Rick Ross. After an opener from Rozay, the R&B crooner sings to his woman; telling her he’s never letting go, if she’s never letting go. “I want this forever,” he declares.
The song will serve as the lead single from Mario’s fifth studio album, Never 2 Late, due November 27. The project will be executive produced by Scott Storch.

Laverne Cox Talks OITNB, Being A Transgender Activist & Her New Film ‘Grandma’
Named one of People Magazine’s Most Beautiful People of 2015, and popularly known for her role as Sopia Burset on the hit show Orange is the New Black, Laverne Cox has truly been a force to be reckoned with. Laverene recently chatted with Yahoo Style, dishing about her feelings on the story line for season 3 ‘OITNB’; being an activist for the transgender community; Twitter feuds and her new film, Grandma. Peep a few excerpts.
How she felt about the OITNB story line for season 3:
I was nervous that trans people watching it would be triggered. I didn’t want to re-traumatize anyone, but, well, this is the reality that a lot of trans women are experiencing right now, so it was incumbent upon me to honor that an allow those spirits to enter me.
It felt more like channeling than acting, opening myself up to what it feels like to experience that violence, that degradation, the injustice related to solitary confinement and no accountability for the people who attacked me or the guards who let it happen.
She says that she understands how things are with being a transgender woman along with success thus far:
I understand that my rise, if you will, has happened at a specific time culturally…It’s a confluence of a lot of things around diversity and racial politics, and it’s about a whole community of trans people speaking up and being more vocal about who they are…
On her new film Grandma:
The film humanizes the experience of someone dealing with an unwanted pregnancy. Abortion shouldn’t be politicized. It’s about women going through one of the most difficult decisions they’ll ever have to make.
At times questioning her success:
I have moments when I’m like, Do I deserve this, even as hard as I’ve worked? Am I doing enough? What’s next? Will I lose it all quickly? Luckily, I’ve been so busy I haven’t had time to think about it too much until this summer, when I’ve had a little more time to breathe.
Dez Bryant To Appear On The Cover Of ‘Rolling Stone’ Magazine
According to a pic he shared on Instagram, Dez Bryant is taking over as cover star for the latest issue of Rolling Stone. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver gives a glimpse of his washboard abs, rockin’ only shoulder pads in the image.
His article in the magazine’s upcoming NFL Special issue is titled, “The Trials and Triumphs of Dez Bryant.”
“I’m blessed and no one in this world can take that away from me…,” he wrote. “I wouldn’t change a inch of me for the world… God wanted me this way.. so I embrace it and try to be a strong example for the ones who struggle and think it’s never a way….thank you @rollingstone for sharing the real Dez Bryant.”
Additionally, when he witched agents and signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nation Sports late last year, Dez said it’s all about branding himself, and being an icon for children:
It’s about me branding myself and being an icon for these kids. I come from dirt, and every day I’m writing my story and it’s getting better. I’m not a celebrity, man. God blessed me with a gift and I’m trying my best to take full advantage of it each and every day, and try to stay as positive as I can because I know young ones are watching me, including [my] own.

Yesterday Tia Mowry posted a meme on Instgram using Denise Huxtable and Nicki Minaj to illustrate the difference between herself and other girls.
Naturally that didn't sit well with Nicki Minaj fans and other ratchets who proceeded to drag Tia for absolute blood and bone.
Tia later amended the caption to read, "Not that there's anything wrong with the "other girls." "Get it girls!! But this is so ME! P.S. Nobody is shaming anybody either! Please don't read into it! Gesh!" before deleting the post altogether.
CARTOON CONTROVERSY: Powerful Critique of Police Brutality or Just Racist?
Atlantans are divided over whether a new piece of street art in the Georgia capital is a statement of racism or a critique of police brutality.
The graffiti piece references classic Looney Toons characters and depicts Elmer Fudd in a police uniform instead of hunting gear, passing a sign that reads “Negro Season” instead of “Rabbit Season.
Atlanta police are investigating controversial graffiti that was left on a side of a city building.
“I think it’s offensive to anyone. It’s sickening,” said Atlanta police Sgt. Greg Lyon. “I don’t think of Atlanta as that type of city.”
According to a police incident report, the graffiti popped up sometime overnight Friday and stayed up all weekend long.
In a climate where across the country, relationships between police and the black community are increasingly strained by deadly encounters, the graffiti has raised questions about its intention.

Rapper Lil B To Try His Hand At D League Basketball
So you think you can ball? Lil B does. After his Based God Curse rocked Kevin Durant and James Harden, the Bay Area rapper wants to try taking things Above The Rim.
Lil B first expressed his interest in joining the pros when he tried out for the Warriors D-League in 2012. Then came his track "Gotta Make The NBA" which appeared on his 2014 mixtape, "Hoop Life". On verse two he raps, "Jeremy Lin, he made it from the D-League. So if I'm correct imma follow his steps. One life to live, I'm gonna be a Baller, yes!" The Philadelphia 76ers' D-League team, the Delaware 87ers, caught wind of the track and invited the rapper out to try out.
"Hey @LILBTHEBASEDGOD come tryout for the #87ers in September! #TYBG," the Sevens tweeted. Lil B happily accepted the invite, replying, "tryout invite accepted see you there!! Philly here I come thanks to your front office for keeping your word!"

Confirmed: NeNe Leakes To Host ‘Fashion Police’
It’s been confirmed, NeNe Leakes will join E!’s FashionPolice and will take a seat alongside Melissa Rivers, Brad Goreski and Giuliana Rancic.
The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star confirmed the big news on her blog Wednesday morning in a post titled: Making Joan Proud:
“I’m honored to sit next to @mel_rivers on Monday for #FashionPolice as she takes her mom seat for the very first time. Joan gave me some great career advice one day while I was there co-hosting and I have never forgotten her words! Tune in MONDAY to E and catch us readdddd these girls fashions hunni from the VMA’s red carpet #lifeofnene #makingjoanproud #VMAS #FP #E.”
NeNe appeared as a guest host several times on past seasons and clearly becomes a fan fave.
FP first hit airwaves back in September 2010 with Joan Rivers, Giuliana Rancic, George Kotsiopoulos and Kelly Osbourne. Following the death of Rivers in September 2014, the show brought on Kathy Griffin to proceed the late comedian and hired Goreski to take the place of Kotsiopoulos.
In February 2015, Osbourne announced her departure from the hit fashion series and just one month later, Griffin announced she too was stepping down. The network announced the show would return in September 2015 after they figure out the best way to revamp the popular program.
The new season will premiere on August 31 for only six episodes.
