ENVOGUE..BREAKING UP AGAIN! SPITTING INTO 2 GROUPS?

Sad news one of the 90′s top female R&B groups “EnVogue” have been confirmed to have broken up once again… Just so yall know the group has won more MTV Video Music Awards than any other female group in MTV history, a total of seven, along with four Soul Train Awards, six American Music Awards, and seven Grammy nominations. According to Billboard Magazine they were the 18th most successful act of the 1990s, and one of the most popular and successful female groups of all time. I just hate that these old groups can’t ever get their act’s together, its about the music not the attitude. $$$ Dawn Robinson from EnVogue announced via Twitter that she and Maxine Jones were leaving the group and that the two will be rehearsing for a tour of their own.

Dawn’s shocking Twitter outburst prompted a response from original members Cindy Herron and Terry Ellis people sending me this email for all the EnVogue fans …

“Dear EnVogue fans,
In regards to the recent twitter and face book posts alleging that Terry and Cindy have replaced Maxine Jones with Rhona, we would like to respond. Terry and Cindy are not replacing Maxine Jones. We have however asked Rhona to fill in temporarily so that we can continue to bring live shows to our fans. Thus far, Rhona has only done three shows with us since June 2012. The group has always added someone whenever a member has been unable or unwilling to perform or has left the group. Terry and I have not kicked Maxine out of the group. There are always two sides to a story and many internal facts that you the fans aren’t hearing about. In an effort to not air dirty laundry, or appear to point the finger at anyone, we respectfully choose to remain silent on the internal issues. We appreciate you the fans continuing to support Envogue individually, and as a whole.

Well, Dawn Robinson love to keep it real with the fans and gave us a better understanding about all the real drama with the group, check out part of her interview with ESSENCE.

ESSENCE reports The youngest foxy brown of the early 90′s female glam quartet En Vogue, but she quickly became known as the rebel diva when things began to fall apart with the songbirds.
After leaving the group and becoming the frontwoman for the R&B trio Lucy Pearl, Robinson has kept a low profile until the group’s recent reunion.
The sultry siren took the time out to set the record straight with ESSENCE.com about the drama behind EV and Lucy Pearl, why she’s not a bitter woman and what really happened between her and her husband.

ESSENCE.COM: So how does it feel to be back with En Vogue?
DAWN ROBINSON: It feels like home; the family you haven’t seen in a while. One of the things I missed was that we laughed a lot. Terrie really missed her calling as a comedian; she’s so funny. I love people that can laugh at themselves. We have our audience and they held a torch for us.

ESSENCE.COM: When did that torch’s fame go out for the group?
ROBINSON: We were doing the lion’s share of the work but we were making the least. I started seeing it earlier when you get into the industry you come in after having a degree in accounting. You get caught up before you truly [understand] that contract and know what questions to ask. All of those contracts are written in Old English and you’re like, Huh? Nobody talks like that. We had legal counsel but if you still don’t understand because it’s not broken down in layman terms for you it’s difficult to know the right questions to ask.

ESSENCE.COM: So because you spoke up you were deemed a problem?
ROBINSON: The misconception about me is that I am difficult, a problem, a b—-. But when people try to take your hard-earned money and you stand up for it this is what happens when you’re a woman. If I was a man I wouldn’t be accused of such things. I’m glad I stood up. I was just trying to see what was going on with us financially because it wasn’t making sense and I realized after meeting with another lawyer that there were so many things in there that weren’t in our favor.

ESSENCE.COM: It’s hard to imagine with the group’s crossover success that you all were not given a better deal.
ROBINSON: We started opening our eyes and were like, we need to rectify this. It was just frustrating because most artists, once they start to have a certain amount of success, they throw out that [first] contract and start over with a new one, but we never renegotiated. There was a little fear that came in like any job when there’s a union standing behind you. I didn’t have that and the ladies realized later that I was just trying to stand up and look out for the group. The ladies know and we’ve all atoned and they’ve apologized to me in certain ways. I wouldn’t want to change anything because En Vogue and Lucy Pearl helped me to grow.

ESSENCE.COM: Now that you’ve reunited with En Vogue, any chance of a Lucy Pearl reunion?
ROBINSON: Lucy Pearl is one of my favorite groups. I loved the creation me and Raphael had together since we were kids, creating this whole sound and how we came up with the idea of Lucy Pearl, because it was our idea as opposed to En Vogue, which was put together. I had a deal on the table with RCA, who had Tyrese and Coko signed to solo deals at the time, but I chose to do another group because I believed it was the smartest idea–three super artists to make one super group–and to be able to bring the knowledge I [acquired] was going to make it a stronger situation. Plus, the album was insane. I tried to talk to him about a reunion, but Ali had a lawsuit against him because he felt like he did him wrong because we found out later that Raphael had made side deals. I believe there’s strength in numbers not to get money but when God puts something together this great you don’t walk away from it, you work it out. But his ego got in the way. I was really sad that it was only a one-off. We decided that we wouldn’t commit to a long-term situation unless album sales made sense. So we just disbanded, but they have to have a scapegoat so they are going to blame Dawn and say I’m the difficult one.

Gospel Artist Marvin Sapp Lands New Reality Show

Move over Mary, Mary! Rumor has it that gospel singer and Pastor, Marvin Sapp is taking his talents to reality TV. Reportedly titled, ‘Marvin Sapp: Single Dad’, the show will follow the recently widowed Sapp (his wife passed in 2010), who is raising his children (two tweens, along with a teenager) continuing his gospel music career and pastoring. 

Black Celebrity Kids reports:

“Marvin Sapp: Single Dad” reveals an inside look at the Sapp family as they courageously carry on life after the loss of MaLinda Sapp, a vibrant, beloved wife and mother who succumbed to stomach cancer in September 2010. Footage captures a freshly single Sapp maintaining a music career and fighting off the stereotypical “God told me you are my husband!” women, which, according to Open River Pictures, requires more prayer and skills than this dad thinks he has.

Beyoncé’s Big Announcement

Instead of satying home and raising that damn baby who isn’t even a year old yet. Beyoncé posted a mysterious and sort of cryptic message on her website this week claiming something big is coming in August. “Leave your footprint on 19 August 2012,” reads the message posted.

With not much else to go on, it might be assumed that Beyoncé will either make a major announcement on this date or maybe she will just release a song that no one expected. It was widely reported earlier this year, that Beyoncé was a working on new album — so this could be the mysterious announcement. Rather than further speculate it looks like we’ll just have to wait until August 19 to see what Beyoncé has to offer.

The Oscar-winner - still in costume, complete with a fake LAPD laminate around her neck - ventured to the food server who helped pile her plate.

However, she wasn't afraid to sample some of the carbohydrates either and seemed to say yes to a portion of pasta.

The film follows an emergency operator who must confront a killer from her past in order to save a young girl's life.
But it hasn't been plain sailing for the actress since filming started after she was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital last week following a fall and hitting her head on the set.

In a statement to MailOnline, Halle's publicist said: 'Halle suffered a minor head injury while shooting a fight sequence on the set of her film.
She was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but she checked out.

Transgender ‘Sidney Starr’ Admits To Lying About Sleepy With Chingy
guess Sidney has had a change of heart because she recently dropped a new video where she admits that she lied on Chingy (and several other entertainers) all because she wanted to be accepted. She says that she now embraces what she is and hopes that other transgendered women will be more honest about themselves in the process.

Heartbreak for Ed Schultz as MSNBC host reveals wife's devastating cancer struggle

MSNBC host Ed Schultz has revealed in an emotional announcement on his radio show that his wife, Wendy, has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Speaking to his guest radio host Mike Papantonio on Thursday afternoon, Schultz said that he and his wife have been ‘through the wringer’ since receiving the devastating news last Wednesday.
‘It's been a real jolt to say the least,’ Schultz said. ‘It shakes you to your bones. But she's a tough girl, and she went through surgery yesterday. The doctors feel like they got all of it...but we've got a long way to go.’

Schultz has been absent from his radio and TV show for the past week, and he said that he is going to be away from the air for some time.
‘Doing a radio and a TV show isn't exactly what I'm thinking about right now,’ the 58-year-old talk show host said. ‘I'm going to be with my wife through all of this.'

He expressed his gratitude to his radio show team and everyone at MSNBC for their support.
‘You lose track of time, you lose track of what you're doing, and everything changes,’ Schultz said, choking up.
Michael Eric Dyson, who has been guest-hosting The Ed Show on MSNBC, repeated the devastating announcement.
Mr Schultz said Wendy is ‘deeply touched’ by messages of support that have been pouring in on Facebook and Twitter..

‘The prayer warriors across of America who have just gotten into this and gotten behind her and her family, we can't thank everybody enough,’ he said.
Schultz met Wendy, a psychiatric nurse, in the 1990s not long shortly after divorcing his first wife, newscaster Maureen Zimmerman.
The two got married in 1998 and have since had six children, while Wendy Schultz has worked as her husband’s production assistant.
Schultz, who began his career as a proclaimed conservative, has attributed his transformation into a noted champion of progressive causes to his wife.
In his 2010 book Killer Politics, Schultz wrote that his political viewpoints started changing after their first date, which took place at a homeless shelter in Fargo, North Dakota, where Wendy worked.

Schultz had initially criticized the homeless, but had a change of heart after meeting them face-to-face at the shelter. From there, he considered himself to be a ‘liberal,’ he wrote. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Ed and his family!

Jordin Sparks (shown above on the set with co-star Julito McCullum) was spotted in Brooklyn shooting her next movie. She's playing the role of "Alice" in the George Tillman Jr.-directed flick The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete.
The film (produced by Alicia Keys) tells the story of two inner-city kids who are forced to fend for themselves over the summer after their mothers are taken away by authorities.

Jennifer Hudson, Jeffrey Wright and Anthony Mackie are also amongst the lineup of high-profile talent in the flick.

Man who discovered Drake suing his management over royalties

A young Texas talent scout who discovered hip-hop star Drake is suing the entertainer's managers — charging they are cheating him out of his share of royalties.
James "Jas" Prince, the son of Rock-A-Lot Records CEO J. Prince, claims in papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court that Cortez Bryant, Gerald Roberson, Derrick Lawrence and their firms, including Aspire Music Group LLC, have refused to provide an accounting of what he is owed.
Prince's attorney, James McMillan, said his client hasn't received a nickel in more than a year even though Drake's albums have generated millions of dollars in sales. He is asking the court to appoint a receiver.

"We have no idea how much is owed because they are hiding behind one guy," McMillan said.
He said entertainment lawyer Ronald Sweeney represents both Drake's managers and the record company that pays the royalties.Those companies are controlled by rapper Lil Wayne and have sold 5 million copies of Drake's albums in recent years.

"It's one big shell game," McMillan said.
Court papers say that when Prince demanded an accounting, Drake's managers referred him to Sweeney, who promised to comply but never did.
When Prince asked Lil Wayne's companies directly for an accounting, they also referred him to Sweeney.Sweeney declined comment.
In his papers, Prince said Drake himself is being cheated by his managers and is "on the brink" of suing Aspire and Bryant, who also manages Lil Wayne and Kanye West. He attached an April 2012 letter from Drake's lawyer, Robert Meloni, to Aspire which terminates Drake’s exclusive contract with Aspire.
In that letter, Meloni says that Drake's royalty account got nothing though his worldwide sales "are in excess of five million units." He said Drake had received "inexcusably delayed, incomplete, confusing and misleading" statements listing what he was owed.

McMillan said that Drake, who gave Prince a Lamborghini for his birthday in October 2010, still has strong ties to his client. "Neither one of them has been paid," he said.

Excitement got the best of one of Nicki Minaj’s fans. At her Miami concert, one of her Barbz (or Ken, I can’t tell), hopped on stage while she was performing. Minaj’s security jumped to the rescue and immediately hopped on stage, dragging her (or him) off stage. Rita Ora Dishes About Rihanna Comparisons in Complex Magazine

Roc Nation’s, Rita Ora, is in this month’s issue of Complex Magazine.

Although the songstress has been working overtime to make a name for herself, Rita has been accused of being a Rihanna knock off since first storming onto the music scene earlier this year. However, the 21-year-old takes the comparisons as a compliment.

I admire Rihanna, she works her ass off. She hasn’t had a break and she has given people hit after hit after hit. That work ethic and discipline is hardcore. That’s the kind of shit that I want to do. That I will do.

Rita didn’t just rip Rihanna’s style, but she must have taken her cockiness as well. She also admits that folks were surprised when photos surfaced of the two of them having a good time.

People were like, ‘What the fuck! Everyone thought that we hated each other, but the whole thing was created by the media. That’s what’s so funny. She said, ‘Let’s just tweet this and get people mad.’

Fat Joe Investigated for Sexual Assault 

Fat Joe was detained after his concert in Wisconsin last night after a groupie chick young lady claimed she was sexually assaulted by Fat Joe and his entourage...

According to the police report the 33 year old woman claims she was assaulted after she,

"found herself inside of a Cadillac Limousine with Joseph Cartagena and other male subjects all with the destination of a hotel located on Madison's west side."
Joe was detained for questioning and released. No arrests have been made, but the investigation is ongoing

Did Chris Brown Diss Frank Ocean with ‘Homo’ Comment?

*It looks like Chris Brown is in the middle of another controversy again.
According to the Advocate, Brown was asked about Frank Ocean while leaving a nightclub in Cannes. He is said to have replied: “Man, no homo” without making any further comment.
As Advocate states, the phrase ‘No Homo’ is a slang phrase used to reject any notion of something that could be deemed homosexual. But in this case, it’s not clear as to how the singer/dancer meant it.

Brown’s use of the term comes shortly after Ocean published a Tumblr post in which he discussed his sexuality and revealed that his first love had been a man.

As PRlog points out, Brown has had run-ins with Ocean before, in 2011 the two exchange hate tweets that eventually erupted into Brown sending family members to attack Frank Ocean.

Despite Brown’s comment, Ocean has received support from quite a few high profile celebrities since he opened up about his sexuality, including Beyonce and 50 Cent among others.

Joe ‘Butterball’ Tamburro, 70, beloved WDAS DJ Dies at age 70

 (1942-2012)

Joe "Butterball" Tamburro, 70, the radio personality and tastemaker who built a bond with Philadelphia music makers and music lovers over a nearly 50-year career at rhythm and blues station WDAS-AM, died Friday, July 27.
Mr. Tamburro died at his home in Haverford, according to Loraine Ballard Morrill, news and community affairs director for Clear Channel, which owns WDAS (1480). No cause of death was given, but Morrill said Mr. Tamburro had been battling complications from heart disease and diabetes and had not been well.

An Italian American from South Philadelphia who began work at WDAS in 1964 as an advertising salesman after a brief career as an auto mechanic, Mr. Tamburro soon had his own show alongside such other legendary record spinners as Georgie Woods, Jocko Henderson, and Hy Lit. Station manager Jimmy Bishop hired Mr. Tamburro and gave him his nickname "because I was sort of overweight," Mr. Tamburro told The Inquirer in 1997.

He would later serve for years as the 'DAS program director while maintaining an on-air presence.
His passing was considered a death in Philadelphia's African American musical family. "People loved Butterball," Kenny Gamble, architect of the Sound of Philadelphia, said about his friend of nearly 50 years in an interview Friday. "Radio is totally different today than it was then. A DJ was the most iconic figure in the community."
Gamble said that when he and Leon Huff were overseeing the hit machine that was Philadelphia International Records in the late 1960s and 1970s, they would often bring recordings directly to Mr. Tamburro to seek his opinion.

"There wouldn't have been a Sound of Philadelphia were it not for Jimmy Bishop and Butterball," he said. "They played our music first. I would go in the studio and record and produce something, and I'd say, 'Butter, I want you to listen.' He'd pick my singles. This guy had golden ears. That continued for many years. I would always consult him."
O'Jays singer Eddie Levert was one of many artists who called in and spoke to WDAS DJ Patty Jackson Friday. Fighting back tears, he remembered Gamble introducing Mr. Tamburro to him as "my right-hand man."

"He kept us in his mix all the time," Levert said. "I love him. Butter, may you rest in peace."
Mayor Nutter also called in to Jackson, recalling that he grew up listening to Mr. Tamburro, who "communicated the mood and attitude of the times." The mayor called Mr. Tamburro "a wonderful person, a great man, and a kind individual. I will never forget him."

Ahmir "?uestlove" Thompson, drummer for the Roots, tweeted: "Staple of my childhood, my creative development & music curiosity has left earth. Joe 'Butterball' Tamburro, Philadelphia Thanks You."
In addition to playing music, Mr. Tamburro was known for his involvement with civil rights issues in the 1960s, providing time on WDAS for leaders like the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Cecil B. Moore.
U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah (D., Pa.) issued a statement saying Mr. Tamburro "transcended barriers, broke stereotypes, and played the music of our generation with all the love and soul that was intended by the artists who performed it. Butter was more than a radio icon. He was a civil-rights leader and a voice for all that is good in R&B."

In 1997, when Mr. Tamburro was inducted into the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame and a plaque with his name was placed along Broad Street, he talked about his initial difficulties breaking into R&B radio.
"I kept making tapes, but everyone looked at me like I was completely crazy," he recalled. "In the early '60s, a white guy trying to get on the air on a black radio station was just as crazy as a black guy on a white station. People kept trying to figure out, 'What is he trying to do?'
"Why do I love black music? I don't know. I just know it is the only music I ever wanted to play."
Mr. Tamburro was heard on the air as recently as Thursday, when a show he had recorded played from noon to 6.

"Butter started back when radio was radio," said Jerry "the Geator" Blavat, the Philadelphia DJ whose career stretches back even further Mr. Tamburro's. "You had the freedom to play what you liked, to play the music you could share with your audience. He created a rap, a style, that came from black radio back in the day. He was as smooth as a knife cutting through butter. There'll never be another Butter."

Mr. Tamburro is survived by his wife, Cynthia; five children; and five grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are set for Thursday in Philadelphia.
